I've been meaning to write and update addressing the Lamplighter's long-standing Sunday Brunch. In truth, I would not call it a Sunday Brunch as it does not include any typical meats or vegetables you would normally eat for lunch. I would call it a breakfast buffet. It runs from 9 am to 2 pm and the cost is a very reasonable $12.95. The lovely wife and I stopped in around 12:30 today. I usually try to visit buffets closer to the opening time as I want to avoid dried out food. Today I was pleasantly surprised. As best I can remember the offerings included, omelets made to order, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, scrapple, pancakes, French toast, quiche, eggs benedict, fried potatoes, cinnamon apples, fresh fruit, and assorted toast. I'm sure I forgot a few. The wife and I both agree the choices were fresh and the temperatures were appropriate. This is not gourmet cuisine but nicely prepared comfort food. Speaking of comfort, there is no need to dress up. You would be comfortable in jeans here. So the wife and I sat near a glowing fireplace with cups of fresh coffee and enjoyed a pleasant meal. We'll be back.

That Had to have been one of the worst and unreasonable bar experiences of my life! Their beer selection is extremely limited, a crappy band was playing, and the 2 blonde female bartenders who were working were both very unprofessional. They did not have 3 of my first choice beers: rolling rock, Heineken, and pbr. I don't know any bars that don't carry pbr! I looked at the taps as my 4th choice with the 1st bartender who was taking my order, she served it to me in a plastic party cup. I was waiting to pay for it, then she asked the customer next to me what he was drinking, she gave a corona to him, and he gave her the money and she immediately gave him the change back, and meanwhile I was waiting to pay myself. I wanted to tell that 1st bartender I changed my mind and wanted a corona being that I thought it was alright, since I did not pay. I could not seem to get her attention, so I talked to the 2nd bartender and she told me that she thought my order was in the machine, so I could not change mind, so I told her I didn't want the yuengling in the party cup anymore, I went up front to watch the crappy band for 20 seconds, the 2nd bartender rushed to the front where I was watching the band, and asked me to leave. I sure as hell agreed with her!

The Sunday buffet seemed to focus more on quantity over quality. I would try again for drinks and maybe a burger but probably not for "brunch". The servers were nice and attentive.

I've eaten at Lamplighter Tavern many times and was mostly satisfied with their food and service. However, the past few visits have been less than stellar concerning the food and service. Take for instance, on Mother's Day brunch. The brunch cost $12.95 each and consist of multiple items such as: french toast, pancakes, eggs benedict, sausage, bacon, scrapple, fresh fruit, cereal, cream chipped beef, assorted breads, lemon cake, and an omelette station. For the price, the food was an ok value however mediocre the food. The service, however, was much to be desired as I was 45 minutes into my meal when I had to flag down the waitress to get my Mom and I icewater. Glasses of icewater is usually a staple at most restaurants like Lamplighter initially when seated. For some reason, I overheard a hurried waitress exclaim that they "were out of water." Ummm ok... They were out of cognac so Mom ordered a double shot of Courvouisier brandy that cost $12.00. Mind you Lamplighter waitresses normally offered a discount price if patron requests a double shot, normally nothing over $8.00. Not this time. I ordered a mimosa that cost $6.00 and it was very watered down, just about the worst I've ever experienced. The coffee was fresh and good on the plus side as well as the omelettes. We also had to flag down the waitress or any available waitress to bring us more utensils that they had taken away from the table. The third time we had to flag down the waitress was to ask for the check. The fourth and final time (we had to beg the waitress at least 4 times for 4 separate action) we had to flag down the waitress was to return the check after running my credit card. All in all, very mediocre food and poor service. This place was once good and a truly good Delco establishment, but they fallen short for some sort of reason. I really want to like this place, because the staff was friendly in the past, but alas, not anymore....

I love the Lamplighter. Sunday brunch is a Havertown staple. The personal attention of the bar staff is unbelievable.

I can't believe i'm the first to review the lamplighter! Anyways I've been there many times for some quick lunches/dinners over the years and I've always found the food to be ok. I recently went for Sunday morning brunch and for 13 bux a person got a decent value. I like the staff here, very personable and very good with their service. A nice bar area and a nice seating area. When in Havertown, check these guys out for a drink.
