My husband & I entered Edgewood cafe this evening to see a customer face to face with a waitress yelling at her an inch from her face. The customer made us so uncomfortable & he upset all of the waitress's by his actions. He was insensitive of the wait for food & took it out on the, so sweet & kind waitress. NOBODY has the right to treat people terribly or belittle them in any situation! He demanded free desert for his entire table! If he was so unhappy with the restaurant, food & the wait then why would he want to continue the stay? Ohhhhhh, to enjoy 4 FREE delicious desert at Edgewood Cafe! This guy, I had to confront. I asked him to apologize to the waitress for the way he treated her & embarrassed her & all he could say was, "I had to wait for my food, wait until you see my bad yelp review." So I decided to yelp about his treatment of the staff & the customers in the Cafe. This guy and his wife should be ashamed. He wanted to embarrass this waitress and restaurant, while they should be ones to be embarrassed. Edgewood owners & staff......my husband & I appreciate your entrepreneurial spirit & we love having a BYOB with fresh food in our neighborhood! The waitress's at Edgewood are adorable, sweet, kind, & very good at their jobs. So please, future customers....do not make a fool of yourself & belittle a waitress/waiter. They're authentic, real genuine human beings. Be kind & patient. Just enjoy your company & life.

Upscale BYOB with casual prices. Really like the wedge salad and filet mignon here. Pork chop was very good, also the Chicken Parm with gnocchi. Filet mignon egg rolls were also pretty addicting. BYOB so bring your favorite bottle(s) of wine.

I was interested to try this place because the name had come up a few times as a recommendation so went along last night to try it out. I had the crab cakes and he had the lamb. My portion size was perfect and it had a lot of flavor, would definitely recommend this dish and I will be back for more. The lamb was a big portion, cooked perfectly and he enjoyed it thoroughly. the BYOB is always a big hit with us because it means we can eat out more often because the check isn't going to be doubled in price due to the alcohol. Staff were also very welcoming, friendly and efficient. Overall, a win-win for us and we both agreed that we will definitely be back soon.

Visited: Saturday - July 27, 2014 - 8 PM I ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer for $12.00. I received three average-sized shrimp. They were crispy, and cooked to perfection. The roasted pineapple brought an unusual but welcome texture. I received a generous portion of the Summer berry salad (Baby greens, toasted almonds, goat cheese, white balsamic vinaigrette) for $8.00. It was bedecked in beautiful colors of green, red, and white. Unfortunately, the salad was remarkably bland while "drowning" in the vinaigrette dressing. The eggplant parmigiana (layered with ricotta, spinach, roasted peppers, mozzarella, gnocchi marinara) for $18.00 was crispy where the marinara wasn't spread. The ricotta cheese was sandwiched between the sauce and the eggplant. The gnocchi was tender but the perfectly ribbed shell suggested store bought. Yelpers have rated the Edgewood Cafe an average of 4 1/2 stars; I struggle to offer 3 stars. Much has to do with the server. Her quick, robotic reading of the specials implied a discouragement of questions. The reading, and noisy room, muted any interest in ordering specials. I felt that all efforts were perfunctory. Further, how often must I endure being called "guys" when I'm in the company of my female date? The food though palatable lacked salt. Trust me, I've cooked, baked, fried, grilled, microwaved, broiled, and boiled. An average dish transforms to exceptional with a refined treatment of salt. NOTE: I arrived about 6:30 PM the previous day and ate outside. I ordered the crab cake dinner and watermelon salad. The salad, dinner, and service, was very good. If I return, I plan to arrive at 6:30 PM, eating outside, ordering the watermelon salad and crab cake dinner.

Wonderful first time at Edgewood. Chelsea was fantastic. Shrimp app, Edgewood wedge salad highly recommend. Wife had filet mignon and I had fried chicken. Both were beyond delicious. Chelsea asked me if I thought my chicken was too well done. Needless to say I'm not a picky eater at all. I replied the meal is perfect, which it truly was. Without my knowledge, Chelsea even brought out a new meal for me at the end of our meal. This restaurant holds their standards very high and customer service is a priority. Thank you for the great meal. We will be back soon.

Great BYOB the food was well prepared and tasted great. The atmosphere was friendly, the place was well laid out and roomy. You had your choice of eating in or out, and the waitress knew the food and never abandoned you.

We have been to this restaurant 4 times and I still feel the same way. It is okay. The quality of the food does not match the price. I always expect more and leave thinking about other the outstanding BYOB's I have visited where the price is comparable but the food is memorable.

We went here a second time and were disappointed; though, we may have just caught them on a bad night. If I was rating them on this visit, I would probably give them two stars but since we had a better experience the first time I will give them three. The egg rolls were not as flavorful this time and our dishes did not stand out. We are sad to see the quality was not up to par with our previous visit. We ordered the s'mores bread pudding and it was not very good. They basically cut up white bread and put a few chocolate chips in it and called it s'mores bread pudding. Edgewood- please go taste the bread pudding at the Brick and Brew for some tips because theirs is amazing!

Cute location and loved the live music. Food was good, but I wouldn't necessarily call it outstanding. We had two filets, both of which came out closer to rare than medium. Taste wise though it was very good. Everything seemed a tad bit overpriced for the quality. I had a $9 Caesar salad that tasted like it was out of a pre made bag. It wasn't bad, just not worth $9. Would potentially come back but not at the top of the list either.

I just removed an earlier 3 star rating I gave to Edgewood Cafe because I have to say, this place has REALLY stepped up their game. My wife and I went in for their New Years Eve Prix Fix and we were so impressed. I felt like I was getting Center City cuisine but in my little neighborhood. Wow folks. I really get the sense that whatever you're doing, you're doing it with passion. Keep up the excellent work.

My husband and I enjoyed a date night here. The parking out front isn't great, especially when there is snow/ice outside. We slid around a lot trying to park from old ice that hadn't melted. The bread basket that comes out is very basic and I think it's one thing that could be improved. We had a small seeded roll, sliced into 6 thin slices, and a scoop of herbed butter, which was lacking salt and a little too cold to spread. We started out with a trio appetizer and it was delicious! The lobster Mac and Cheese was to die for, and my husband enjoyed the steak and mushroom egg rolls while the bacon wrapped shrimp and scallop was AMAZING. We shared a wedge salad, which honestly, was the low light of the evening. I LOVE a wedge salad and will order one wherever we go that it's on the menu. This is made of butter lettuce, so you kind of miss that crunch you'd get from boring iceberg, but to make, makes a wedge salad. The dressing was good, and the fried onions on top were a nice touch, but it's the only thing I had that night that I wouldn't order again. I had the lamb chops and they came out fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of my lamb. They come with a gorgonzola mashed potato, but there was very little gorgonzola taste to them, although they were delicious. My husband had the bacon wrapped filet and his was delicious, too. It was cooked very nicely, to his liking. We took a look at the dessert menu, and had to ask prices, since there were none listed on the menu. The server couldn't answer our question and had to go and inquire for us- we were debating between two, and didn't want to order both if they were obscenely priced. Turns out they're all $7 each, so we ordered both the flour less chocolate cake and the apple beignets which turned out to be my favorite! Overall, it was a great meal. Although, I do think that they need to work on their ventilation system, because we left there smelling thoroughly charred and my coat had to be cleaned, because it smelled so strongly, even the next day.

Great local BYOB in Havertown with a nice atmosphere and a delicious menu that seems to be always changing. I love it as a "go-to" place when I want to eat out but don't have a reservation. Not a 5-star restaurant but one of Havertown's hidden gems for sure!

I've been here a few times and the food and service have been outstanding each visit. The menu is small but mighty and changes often which I think is great. And most importantly, it's a BYOB! I would recommend Edgewood to anyone.

This place was a nice surprise in a residential-seeming area of Havertown. You can't ever go wrong with being able to BYO (as long as you remember to bring your wine and/or beverage of choice). The restaurant is decorated tastfully inside and they had plenty of seating and were able to accomodate our somewhat large group of six and another nearby table of double the size, as well as a bunch of 2 and 4 tops. The only thing that was a little surprising was that their was only 1 bathroom, which didnt seem like enough for as many people were eating in the restaurant, but I didn't really run into too much of a line. Another thing I noticed was that it got really smoky in the restaurant while they were cooking. They had to keep the doors open to let some of the smoke out, so there must not be great ventilation in there. It wasn't too bothersome, but definitely noticeable. For dinner, I had the salmon entree, which was placed over potatoes and spinach, It was a large piece of salmon nicely seared and crunchy on the outside with a nice beurre blanc sauce on top and very reasonably priced for $25. My only complaint was that the almon was a bit overdone and dry. My fiancee had the surf and turf special, which was a tasty 6 oz filet with 3 shrimp over rissotto. However, for his entree, I thought the price was a little steep at $39 for a smallish steak and 3 shrimp, but it is BYOB so I guess you pay for being able to save on wine and liquor. Finally we had the brownie sundae. which was really cute and came in a wine glass with sprinkles definitely a good choice for kids and kids at heart. Finally, our server was very nice and helpful throughout the evening and didnt try to rush us out after we had been there for a while catching up with our friends, which was much appreciated. I would definitely give this place a try again if I'm in the area.

Tonight I ordered my favorite flatbread: braised short rib flat bread. My hubby picked it up and brought it home and I opened it up and...????? WTF???? What happened??? They ruined it! There was no braised short rib on the flatbread. It was sliced ham, drowning in mayo sauce. It was horrible. I am so sad. The braised short rib flatbread has been my go to favorite for the past three years but no more. Did they get a new chef? Why??? It was DISGUSTING. UPDATE: and I just called to complain and first they tried to tell me it was the same. Seriously? I've been getting the same thing for as many years as it's been open and this was NOT the same. It was not braised short rib. It was sliced ham. Then they said they use another meat supplier. Odd. I've had braised short rib at many many many restaurants and it never looks or tastes like sliced ham like this did. Totally bummed as this was one of our favorite go-to restaurants for dine in and takeout. But I think I'm done there now.

Chef Ferro didn't know it but we seriously put him to the test one night last month. Not one, not two, but three Yelp Elites and serious foodies showed up to put him to the test. Although not a Yelper the lovely wife was along for the ride and she has a very discerning palate. SO WHAT WAS THE TEST? We ordered four DIFFERENT entrees and four DIFFERENT appetizers to see if Phil had the depth and breadth of experience and talent to blow us out of the water. Guess what he did it! After many many visits this wonderful BYOB is easily the premier dining destination in Havertown and challenges many restaurants in the surrounding towns! My Yelp Elite daughter (Jennifer B.) posted several pics including- * Herb roasted pork chop with golden raisin and white peach chutney. * Coconut crusted shrimp with roasted pineapple gastrique. * Pesto roasted salmon. * Strawberries over pound cake. * Cheesecake topped with berries. We had an amazing meal with a diversity that would have challenged any chef and Phil did a superb job! Forget going into the city. Stop by here and enjoy suburban fine dining at its very best!

Finding the quintessential neighborhood restaurant is hard to do but I have excellent connections and on my first night in PA I was treated to a wonderful dining experience at Edgewood Café & BYOB. The space is large and open and offers sizable booths along one wall with tables spaced well throughout the remaining space. The kitchen is open to the dining area, and every time a dish was plated I was staring trying to guess what it was (I'm pretty good at that game). The food stands out as a creative twist on classic comfort food. From start to finish the food exceeded my expectations. We started with the Antipasto Board which had a combination of meats, cheeses, with assorted vegetables and spreads. A delicious way to start our meal and a large enough portion to be shared. We also started with Coconut Roasted Shrimp with a pineapple gastrique. The butterflied shrimp were golden with a crispy exterior and a soft interior and went well with the pineapple gastrique. I would have loved a little heat in the sauce to kick the shrimp up a notch. When my entrée appeared I'm pretty sure my eyes popped out in surprise at how large the portion was. I devoured my Herb Roasted Pork Chop with golden raisin and white peach chutney. The pork chop itself was enormous and cooked perfectly with a warm pink center, I can appreciate the skill in cooking such a thick piece of meat so perfectly (it's not easy). The only thing preventing me from finishing my dish was the lack of remaining space in my stomach. Even though my stomach was full, desserts were a must, and we had all four (yippee)! The desserts were classic, strawberries over pound cake, cheesecake with berries and the ever so decadent chocolate cake. With our stomachs full we had dessert leftovers to take home, that quickly disappeared the next morning by my dessert thief mother. The service was top notch and it's obvious that the staff is like family and is truly invested in the quality of food coming out of the kitchen. I enjoy the BYOB aspect that allows me to bring my favorite wine from home to enjoy with dinner. I understand liquor licenses in Havertown are hard to come by and can be quite expensive, so offering BYOB is a nice way of allowing me to indulge in my love of wine. I may live states away, but I'm already craving items on their new menu, the Rack of Lamb has my name all over it. Thank you to Edgewood for a delightful dinner, I'm looking forward to next time.

Went here on a Saturday night with 11 other people. I never even knew this place existed...it has a somewhat odd location in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Parking wasn't ideal, but it wasn't a major issue either. I do feel bad for the homeowners that have us restaurant patrons parking in front of their houses each evening. Despite having made reservations about a month in advance, they put us at what we all felt was probably the worst table in the house....the first table when you walk in the door. It was kind of a pain because we were freezing every time the door opened (which on a Saturday night was A LOT). Also, the table wasn't quite large enough for our party so we were kind of cramped. That's where my complaints end, however. The food was DELICIOUS. I had the salmon special and nearly cleaned my plate. Others reported that the rack of lamb, crab cakes, and parmesan crusted chicken were also fantastic. I also tried the scallop appetizer and thought they were cooked to perfection. The waiter (JR, I believe was his name) was energetic, attentive, and hilarious. I'd hope to get hime again if we were to return. They had a live musician when we were there which really added to the ambiance of the place. Finally, the prices were totally reasonable for a nice BYO. Overall, I'm sure we'll be back but I think it'll be during the week and/or with a smaller party.

If I was writing this review on the taste of the food alone, I would give this place 5+ stars, I took off a star for the service we received. Visited Edgewood for the first time last week eith my mom because I had a living social deal. The place is very cute and I was surprised how nice the interior was, having been to the deli that rpeviously occupied the space many times. Loved that its BYO, major plus for me! I had the lobster mac and cheese and my mom had the crab cakes. I thought the lobster mac and cheese was to die for, so decadent, and definately plenty for a meal contrary to what the waitress told me. Our servcie was very subpar, our server was barely friendly and we had to flag her down anytime we needed something. I thought things were a little pricey, definately a good place to try with a groupon-type deal.

Nice neighborhood BYO with very good, albeit pricey food. The place is extremely clean and the service is excellent. The appetizers are great but the entrees are uneven. For a surprisingly good entrée, try the Southern Fried Chicken.

Went to this place on a Wednesday night. The food and service were very good. Lobster Bisque was tasty, but could have had more chunks of lobster to replace the over-sized croutons. But then, when it comes to good lobster there's never enough. Salmon with rlsotto was done to perfection. Hope to return someday soon.

This restaurant was SO GOOD when it opened and we were so excited to finally have a great restaurant in Havertown. My family and I have been to Edgewood about 7-8 times now and the last 3 have fallen short of expectations. The smoke from the kitchen somehow lost ventilation so the entire restaurant has been extremely smokey. They removed the BEST item they had - the crab cakes. And the last time we went the waiter seemed to have no idea about what was in the specials, or what day it is, and the salads seemed to have gone down about half in size for the same price. I really hope they can get back into the groove they were in when they first opened. :(

We went here for dinner on a chilly weeknight thinking that it would be a light night. We arrived around 6 without a reservation and were fortunate to get a parking spot just outside the door. When we entered we were asked if we had a reservation even though the place was less than 1/2 full. We were seated at one of the tables. I would have preferred a booth but the only one left was near the rest room. The decor here is dark. Dark woods, a painted black ceiling, and dim lighting set the mood. Music plays in the background. Tables are set with fresh flowers. There was a board with specials and a menu with eight or so appetizers, eight entrees, and several salads. Bread is offered with basil flavored butter. Water was also provided. It was warm not cold but OK considering the outside temperature. We ordered one of the specials which was a combo of three appetizers and a chance to sample multiple items on our first visit here- bacon wrapped scallops, filet mignon egg rolls and lobster Mac and cheese. The scallops were served medium rare, with perfectly cooked bacon and a soy ginger sauce. The egg rolls were filled with tender cooked filet with a horseradish sauce. The lobster mac and cheese was great from the Mac and cheese point of view but if I hadn't known about the lobster I would have never guessed it was in there. The entrees do shine here. The cider brined pork chop was incredibly large, tender and served medium well as requested. It was served with a sweet potato and Brussels sprout mash - also good. This is an excellent choice. My dining partner ordered the crab cakes which were two cakes served over mashed potatoes with spinach. Our bill without the tip was $72. Service was good at the start but fell off after the place started to fill up. This place is wheelchair accessible. I would return but it is pricey- the cheapest entree was $19 and the most expensive around $30. The menu is interesting but not exciting. Appetizers we're the kind thing you can get elsewhere.

One of the best restaurants in Havertown and probably the best BYO in Delco. However, it's a huge inconvenience that you can't make a reservation online. Their archaic process of requiring you to call, leave a voice message and then wait for a callback has, on several occasions, forced me to make reservations elsewhere.

This is a great little BYOB that is a hidden gem of Havertown. It seems like only the foodies in the area know about it but that won't last forever. On to the food. My wife and I shared the filet spring rolls and the lobster mac and cheese. The spring rolls were a generous portion and I like that they stayed away from simply making a cheesteak egg-roll which is more common in the Philly area. The lobster mac a cheese was very filling. Heavy cream and very cheesy but delicious none the less. We weren't very adventurous for our entrees. My wife had the salad wedge and I had the eggplant parm. The parm portion was great since later that night I got to finish the half that I took home. Our server Chelsea was very nice and we will definitely be back. My only recommendation is that our silverware could have been replaced after our appetizers with a fresh set but that is borderline nit picking. I look forward to going back and trying the rack of lamb. Tip: come early. I showed up around 5:45 with a reservation at 6 and the place was empty but then filled up fast so like most successful restaurants an early reservation might be the key to a memorable dinner.

Had to run home and give my 5 star review! Loved my dinner from beginning to end! Lobster fritters app was a delightful compliment to the watermelon salad . My dinner was swordfish with coconut Cajun spiced over lobster risotto. I knew to put my faith in the chef that the combination would make me want to visit again. Our server was attentive and sweet.. Can't wait to visit again !!

Excellent dinner tonight. Rib Eye special was perfectly cooked mid-rare. Parmesan entrusted chicken was tender and delicious. Scallops wrapped in bacon were tender. Overall, we had a great experience. Our server Tara was efficient and unobtrusive, exactly the kind of service we like. The room was loud due to a few large parties, but you can't hold that against the restaurant. This place is a standout for dining in Havertown and Delco.

Second time to this place for dinner and the food was really good both times. The fresh raspberry salad had a very good dressing and the Wedge was chilled, crisp and also had a flavorful dressing. The lamb was a very generous portion of lamb loins with potato's. The filet was tender and flavorful. For the price this steak was as good as some of the meat places around K of P mall. Only drawback this visit was they replaced the piano player with a guy with a guitar that sang really loud. They were packed and now take reservations at 6 and 8 on weekends, so make sure you call ahead. Visa and MC only, and parking is usually available on the street.

My husband and I have dined here before and I really enjoyed my food. One thing we thought was odd though was the fact that they had pasta on the menu from a local company and they were marking up the price a lot! This time, no local companies mentioned on the menu when we took our three kids (who we dine out with a lot) for dinner. The kids were mostly behaving themselves and they enjoyed pasta and "chicken fingers." My husband and I liked our bacon-wrapped scallops, especially the sauce. But as far as entrees go we were really disappointed. When we walked in I heard a customer complaining about an undercooked meal and I think my husband ordered the same thing---the lamb was raw and if you are going to charge $30 a plate, you should know how to cook it. My husband didn't feel like complaining, but did mention it to the waiter at the end of the meal, and he really didn't seem to care, although I think he offered us a free dessert. I think I would have mentioned the undercooked lamb to the waiter soon, but he came over as soon as we got the food and didn't come back again until it looked like we were finishing up. I think he wanted us out of there because we had the three kids. I wasn't getting a good customer-service vibe from the Edgewood. Last time we went, which was probably more than a year ago, we were encouraged by the staff to bring our kids, but I have no idea why. As for my Parmesan chicken with gnocchi---the dish was way too salty (and I like salt) and the gnocchi was overcooked. Maybe we were in there on an off-night, but I don't have many good things to say and I highly doubt I would return. It's a bummer when you are really looking forward to some good comfort food and you end up paying a good deal for a meal that wasn't nearly as good as the sandwich I ordered from Corner Bakery earlier in the day.

My husband and I visited Edgewood last summer when they were brand new and really enjoyed it. We wanted to return but had a hard time securing a reservation. This has become a very popular Havertown destination! Finally, we had our opportunity last night. I will start with the positive. The food was really good, definitely four stars. The salad was fresh, the bacon wrapped scallops were yummy, and the striped bass and salmon entrees were amazing. The kitchen is open so you can see the chefs at work. Kudos to the back of the house! Now to the front of the house. This is definitely a cozy place with several booths and a half a dozen or so tables. They've put two small tables on either side of the wait staff's pickup station and they need to go. When we were about to be seated at one of them, I balked but the hostess (who I believe is one of the owners) had a "take it or leave it" attitude and explained that the one open booth we passed was reserved for a "very large gentleman" who did arrive about a half-hour later. My husband was uncomfortable because he was right next to the plate warmer. From my seat, when I looked to my left I could see directly into the dishwashing area. We asked to be moved when a better table opened up. The waiter was very polite about it but the hostess was visibly irked. Not a good way to start our experience. After moving, the waiter reviewed the night's specials. He referred to his notes and there was no mention of pricing. He brought us bread in a paper-lined basket with foil-wrapped butter pats. The food came out in the correct order but seemed a bit rushed. (We were in and out in just over an hour.) Discarded beer caps sat on the table during the entire meal. For the image this restaurant is trying to present, the entertainment choice seemed odd. A gentleman on a keyboard played old standards that would be more appropriate for a hotel lounge in the 70s. I worked in a hotel lounge in the 70s so I know what I'm talking about! Our final tab was $95, including a 20% tip. We're in no hurry to return. Perhaps the early success went to their heads. They need to burnish up the service and atmosphere to match the food and the pricing and I'm sure that can be accomplished. I'll pay attention to future feedback from Yelpers before trying again.

I didn't give 5 stars because 5 is reserved for meals like I had at the Castle Hill Inn in Rhode Island. But this is a Havertown 5 stars. We were seated at a two seat table next to the kitchen, which is basically in the restaurant. You wouldn't have known. The food was phenomenal, service fun, and even live dinner entertainment. I actually thought they put a Tony Bennett CD on, this guy was great. It's tucked away in a neighborhood. This is my wife and I's new spot and we're going to try to hit it once a month. Our server was Dayna, she was great, and the rest of the wait staff was awesome. We even had one girl apologize for "bothering us" with being too attentive. Not at all. Perfect attendance. Perfect food. Highly recommend.

I went on 2/27 with my father and sisters. This is my all time favorite Havertown restaurant. Always attentive service and delicious food. I had the raspberry salad and sea bass special. Both choices were yummy !!!! Everybody that I went with enjoyed this incredible restaurant !!!!!

Terrific date night at the Edgewood. The place was buzzing, music playing (which provided a fun, upbeat vibe), and the service attentive. Watermelon salad and lobster risotto fritters were great starters. Crab cakes pleased the better half and the fried chicken was spiced right and crunchy. A little more moist and we would have rated dinner a 5. We'll definitely be back!

I ate here when it first opened and while the food was good, the experience was not. We had to wait about 45 minutes even though we had a reservation, multiple menu items were not available, I was given something totally different than I ordered, and the waitress was horrendous (she actually admitted she was terrible when we first sat down, sadly she wasn't joking). I am happy to say that Edgewood seems to have gotten its act together. The menu was SIGNIFICANTLY reduced which shows they are focusing on doing only a few things, but doing them well. The service was exponentially better and the food was great. For an appetizer, I had the braised beef flatbread. It was exceptional. For dinner, I had the salmon. It also was very good. Really nice and crisp on the outside, yet still very tender and moist. My wife had crabcakes. They weren't bad, but just average. While I am happy they reduced the menu, I wish there were a few more things that really appealed to me.

Let me first start off with saying the food was very good and it made up for the rest of what I'm about to say... My husband and I walked in and awkwardly stood there for several minutes before we were approached with "what's your name". It would have set the tone for the evening much better if we heard "Hello, welcome to Edgewood Cafe... how many in your party or, do you have a reservation"... . It was just weird and awkward (and kinda rude). Then we were placed a cheap/not sturdy pop-up banquet table right in the center of the room close to the door (and it was chilly that night), the chairs we sat on were really cheap and light too. I'm sorry, but for the money we spent on what turned out to be really good food, I think I would have enjoyed the whole experience much better if we felt comfortable. The table kept shifting, and you know how annoying that can be! What we ordered: The special that night, trio appetizer - lobster m-n-cheese, shrimp & scallop and filet egg roll - excellent! We also ordered two of the dinner specials which were Pork Shank over polenta and Pesto encrusted Salmon over sweet pea and lobster risotto. Of the two dinner specials the Salmon was the best. The pork shank needed some salt and seemed a bit tough and had a bit too much fat that could have been trimmed away a bit and the polenta was lacking flavor - but we still ate the whole thing!!! Desserts were great, warm chocolate cake and beignets.

Food is terrific... Love the menu choices... The byob is such a great addition to Havertown... Love the atmosphere and the musical entertainment .... Went with two other couples who had never been there and we had a great time all around .... Servers were very friendly and felt as though is was a homey atmosphere... Give it a shot you won't be disappointed !!!!!

Update Please! I have been here several more times and I now use this place a my standard for rating other places. Everything here is spot on. Service, atmosphere, and most importantly food. I originally gave it a three which I regretted within weeks of my review, I was a Yelp virgin and really had not given this and all reviews the appropriate thought, also this place was newly opened and had some new place things to work out. All "things" are worked out. The filet is beyond compare and I dream of it. I don't know what else to say but yum, yum, yummy.

I live less than a block from this BYOB and am thrilled that it opened. Apparently others in Havertown are too because last night we decided on a whim to go and couldn't get seated because we didn't have reservations! Mind you it was a Friday night at 7pm but that said, call ahead! We've been there twice so far (we called for reservations). The atmosphere is okay. They've added pillows to the booths and I really like that. It cozies it up. I've tried the following menu items: The bruschetta which was phenonemal. I could've eaten a whole plate of them. The crab cakes with a corn risotto. The crab cakes(2) had a good flavor, but they were HUGE, I could only eat one, and the texture was a bit runny for me. The corn risotto was delicious. Great summer side. The seafoodscampi over gnoochi (I can't recall the actual name of this). This was good but I wanted more broth/sauce with it. The gnoochi was phenomenal. My husband has enjoyed each entree he's ordered (I only recall that he ordered a chicken dish, not specifically what it was). As far as the pricing of the food, I'd say it's a little pricey BUT they do give generous portion sizes. I'd rather see them cut portion sizes and cut prices too. I've always had to take left overs home. As for the service, everyone is very friendly. It seems like they may be working out some kinks in timing, but I watch my fair share of restaurant shows and I know it's an art. I am willing to give them some time to adjust that sort of thing. Overall I am so happy something like this is so close by to us and I hope it sticks around. PS - I noticed last night that they've put a couple tables outside.

I have been to edgewood several times since it has opened and have only been disappointed once - when I waited too long to get a reservation!! :) the atmosphere is great, the food is fantastic and the staff is so friendly. The changes that they've made to the restaurant design are excellent. It's a great hidden gem in havertown!

We have been to Edgewood Cafe several times since it opened. We LOVE it! The last visit I ordered the crab cake and enjoyed every delicious bite. We also had the short rib flat bread, this one is a must try! It is one of there specials, however, it seems to be a special every time we go. They have certainly worked out the kinks. For dessert, I have tried the Bailey's Tiramisu (enough said) and bread pudding that was amazing.

Most of the Havertown restaurants are pretty mediocre (except Kaya's), so this new BYOB is a VERY welcome addition. We went on a Friday night, did need a reservation. Food was fantastic. Servers were very friendly and attentive. We brought our 4 year old, they do have a kids selection available. Highlights- the prosciutto wrapped figs were phenomenal. Crab cake entree was perfectly cooked, not a lot of filler, and served over a delicious sweet corn risotto. My husband had the cowboy ribeye steak special, perfectly cooked. For a restaurant only open 3 weeks we were very impressed. Portion sizes are large. We will be returning!

Food was great if not a little pricy. The service left something to be desired ( difficulty opening the wine, never replaced forks, didn't mention specials) but I think it depends on your server. I will be back to try the sandwiches which are lunch only. There was beer and wine on the bar but it's a BYOB so I'm not sure why they had it out. Worth a visit for sure.

We live in the neighborhood and decided to go to celebrate our birthdays. Reservation was for 6 pm and they were empty. By the time we left, the place was packed. We had the caesar and wedge salads ($7 each). Large portions of each and delicious. For dinner we had Parmesan Crusted Chicken, Tilapia with Crabmeat and the Meatballs with Gnocci. A little pricey, but large portions and terrific!. We would normally share, but because we were celebrating, we did not - and were quite satisfied when we left.! We did have room for the ice cream cake that I brought for the occasion, but heard the desserts were very good! We will definitely return. Waitress was adorable and very knowledgeable and friendly. Price for 3 was a reasonable $76 considering all the food that we ate and the portion sizes.

Delicious food (though a bit pretentious for the casual atmosphere). The service left something to be desired but that could have been a fluke (he was inattentive, he never cleared the table, and several times he was goofing around with another employee while we were trying to get his attention). We'll probably go back again but hopefully get a different server.

I hidden gem!!! Reccommended to me by word of mouth, i took three women to celebrate a girls night out on a weekday. The decor is nothing interesting, but certainly clean and airy. The service was a woman who enjoyed making the girls night out experience better, Stephanie. The restaurant is in a shopping strip and doesn't stick out with anything eye catching. The building looks older but the store has a nice front full of windows. Booths line one wall, tables are on the other side. Some of the kitchen is within view of the back booths, so you can observe some activity, if you like it, as I do. We watched several tables dishes place on the counter for serving and every plate looked beautiful. They have a small but sufficient menu with a really interesting variation that changes every two months or so, I think. We shared a pear and gorganzola salad which was generous with pears and nuts and was wonderful. For dinner, we each had differing plates and shared. All were better than good, and some were exceptional. BTG: Kobe Meatloaf with mashed potatos and asparagas Crispy Sea Bass with mushroom risotto EXC: Sirloin tips with gorgonzola gnocchi - tips fall off your fork - cheese sauce was to die for Salmon with squash risotto - Salmon fresh and crunch outside - Risotto: i never understood all the fuss until I had this. Now I understand We shared tri-flavor creme brule and fried apple dumplings/donuts. Both were wonderful! I hear they have entertainment on the weekends and plan to go again to see what they offer. Make a reservation, even during the weekday.

Fantastic date night dinner!! Food was excellent, and large portions. I had the berry salad, which was delicious (and I usually don't like salads). Husband had the watermelon salad which was equally good. Main course was filet wrapped in bacon (me) and crab cakes (husband). We both cleaned our plates! Didn't have room for dessert because the other food was so good. Will definitely be back for another date night. Probably too expensive for a regular place, but perfect for nice nights out!

My husband and I ate here last night and had a wonderful experience. We made a reservation for 8:00pm (on a Saturday night). When we arrived we were seated immediately at a high top table near the kitchen area. We started with the bacon wrapped scallops, which were cooked perfectly (4 on the plate). I had the fried chicken with spinach and potatoes, it was perfection. My husband had the steak special, medium-rare came out perfectly, and he raved about the asparagus ( but didn't share). For dessert he had the Godiva crime brûlée and I had the doughnuts. Both were delicious. My only small complaint was it was freezing in there, the combination of AC and ceiling fans on high made it like a chilly wind tunnel.

On a whim the hubby and I decided to check out our new little neighborhood BYOB. The place is small but not crowed, very cute decor. Our server Dana was awesome!! I had the special which was blackened sirloin tips with shrimp and gnocchi, O M G..delicious!! Hubby had the crab cakes he said they were excellent. We finished our meal with the bread pudding which as our sever Dana said is life altering, she did not lie. This spot will definitely be on our rotation!!

This is a solid BYOB in Havertown, with good food and a nice ambiance (except for one Friday night when I could barely hear over the guitar music). HIghly recommend the antipasti appetizer (can't go wrong with soppressata) and the chocolate brownie dessert. The entrees were good, too, but more standard, not as memorable. In general, a great addition to Havertown! I hope we have more restaurants like it.

Lovely BYOB tucked into Havertown neighborhood. Be sure to make reservations. Waitress (Stephanie) was very attentive and offered good guidance on the menu. Husband had a special: Salmon with shrimp, crab meat, pesto risotto and green beans with lemon butter. Soup was lobster bisque. I had the caprese flatbread which was perfect (chewy yet crispy crust, basil purée (much better than whole basil leaves), tender mozzarella and tomatoes. Get the Edgewood Wedge salad - crispy house made onion tops the wedge sitting on top of chopped tomatoes, apple wood smoked bacon and blue cheese dressing (big chunks of blue cheese!). We were so full we couldn't possibly manage the desserts - of which there were many that were tempting. Will def. be back. Big bonus was bringing our own wine - which really helps keep the total bill reasonable. The plates were very nicely presented and the quality of the food was very good. It's not fancy and you can see/smell/hear the kitchen an arm's length away. Seating is also not fancy (bench is a bit too far from table for my taste). Music selection is great without being too loud (was dean martin, some other classical, etc.). Very impressed with the hustle and quickness that wait staff showed and given number of tables they were covering. Would like to see a few more vegetarian options, but generally menu is great, service is great, location is perfect (so close to home!) and prices are moderate for what you get.

Went there over the weekend for the first time. My parents have been there before and raved about it. I have to say...Edgewood Cafe is a gem. There are not a ton of tables, so make your reservation. I have to say. This is one of the best meals I have had in Delaware county in quite some time. The table ordered a few apps, which were all delicious. My favorite was the mac n cheese. It was creamy and crunchy at the same time and had great flavor. My brother ordered the truffle soup. He would have licked the bowl if socially acceptable. I had the steak for dinner. The steak was cooked perfectly. My ordered the eggplant napoleon. It was very good. The star of the show for me was the bread pudding. It was AMAZING. I order bread pudding a lot, and this one was the cream of the crop. My favorite two parts of the meal were the mc n cheese and the bread pudding. The steak was a very close third though. The prices are very reasonable too. I would highly recommend the Edgewood cafe.

Found this last Sat night via yelp! And it was so good, I went again tonight. I love that it is a BYOB. The only thing better? Their gravy!! And instead of spaghetti - they serve gnocchi. I'm not a gnocchi fan so I was hesitant. But they are some of the lightest I've ever had! And they take credit cards. We'll be back - maybe within a week again.

Been there several times now and for the location, price, and ambiance, it is definitely a 5 stars for me! The food has been consistently fantastic and the live music on the weekend is a welcome addition. The menu changes slightly on a frequent basis, making the place more exciting. Their mushroom risotto and garlic spinach are ordered every time we go. I think the only downside is the bread and the lame little olive oil bottle at the table. I know that sounds ridiculously pretentious but it's true. They buy these olive oil bottles that are the cheap olive oils you get at the supermarket. If they just bought unlabeled nice bottles and put it out on the table, it would make a world of difference, but when you're munching on cheap white bread with cheap tacky olive oil, it just kind of ruins the meal. Fortunately once the food comes out, you forget about all that! Biggest tip: make reservations!

Went there for the first time today. It was fantastic!! Their menu is really great, the food tasted fresh, and my 1.5-year-old twins LOVED their hummus. The service was prompt and friendly. The food is fresh; the red sauce fantastic; everything we had was delicious. We're definitely going back.

What a great addition to Havertown's "Restaurant Row" (Brookline Blvd). We went for the first time last night and were glad we made a reservation. Edgewood has a small menu but there is something for everyone. All of the dishes we ordered were well prepared and nicely presented. Staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Looking forward to trying brunch in the near future.

We have been hearing such good reviews about this place and as being local havertown dwellers we decided to check it out. First thing kudos for being a BYOB. We were seated promptly at 630 pm and it was already busy, be forewarned and make a reservation. Now about the food, it was delicious. We started with the shortrib flatbread, this must be a keeper on their menu, it was that good with blue cheese, shredded short rib and field greens- yummy. Next I had their filet mignon wrapped bacon with mushroom risotto , also a winner. Many restaurants do this item but this restaurant does it right. My bacon was crispy and the filet mignon perfectly done , my mistake was that I asked for medium , it should have medium rare, but that was my error not the restaurants. We finished with the apple bread pudding which was good however the bread pudding was dense . I would recommend changing the way serve it like placing it on a dish with the bread pudding at the bottom and having the ice cream on top so it can drizzle it and get all soft and goey as it melts. Also the egg nog creme brûlée was a nice twist on a classic, also a must try. The only negative to this place was decor. It simply looked like they went to hone goods and got some items there and placed it around their walls. That said their awesome food needs to match their digs. This place is a must try!!!! Thank you for opening up in havertown.

I really enjoyed this restaurant! Found it walking my dog and really wanted to try it out after reading other reviews. Went with friends for a birthday dinner and from start to finish everything was great. There was an issue with our reservation but they quickly resolved the it and got us seated even with a full house! I never felt rushed as I do with other Byo places that are just as busy. There was a men playing live music and it wasnt a distraction to my company or meal. Nice touch! I ordered the flat bread margarita appetizer and it was so delicious! And the chicken parm was amazing too. I didnt think I actually order chicken parm but the parm crusted chicken on the menu is just that. But I was very pleased to get it. Good portion sizes. Price is worth the food Bc it is very good and it helps that you don't pay for alcohol which raises the bill normally. Over all I loved it and can't wait to return!!

This place is special. It truly is. The Reverend Dr. Steak and I find ourselves child-free for a weekend, as the Young 'Un is off visiting relatives out of state. Yay! Time for a serious date night, one that doesn't involve a good restaurant close to the kid's gym. Edgewood Cafe has been on our list for some time, and we were determined to finally get here. So grateful that we did. The cafe is tucked into one of these pre-war mini-commercial strips that dot our landscape, remnants of a time before cars and Wal-Mart and Amazon, where small groupings of 2-3 stores served as your corner grocery, your hair salon, your tailor. Many of these didn't survive the post WWII boom, cars, malls, mega stores and now online shopping. Edgewood sits in one of the remaining clusters, on a quiet residential street in Havertown. It's almost a surprise to come upon this place. We called ahead for reservations so there was no problem being promptly seated. The restaurant is cozy yet not cramped, with an open kitchen that is there but not commanding of attention. The decor is beautiful and despite there being two very large groups dining, not overly noisy or chaotic. Everything about the place is warm, muted, and smooth. We were promptly greeted by our server, who gave us most of the specials, graciously omitting those with seafood in them as I am allergic. That was sweet of him. This is not a place with a broad menu, however within the menu there is a nice range of foods, such that just about everyone can find something that interests them. The Reverend selected the Pork Chop with Apple Cider Vinegar, potatoes and an apple-caramel glaze. I choose the parmesan - encrusted chicken (basically, chicken parmesan) with ricotta gnocchi and red gravy. I also ordered the wedge salad. Everything was excellent. I have to call out one really special dish: The pork chop. The apple cider vinegar brought out interesting flavors in the pork, done perfectly, not at all chewy, tough or dry. The apple caramel glaze mixed with the potatoes added an almost dessert-like quality and also mixed with the cider vinegar gave you a really wonderful flavor experience. Combining all these elements not normally strongly associated with each other? This, folks, is talent. Skill. Creativity. Playfulness, even. In short, culinary love. Service was competent, if slightly humorous at times, like when our server asked me whether that was eggplant parmesan or "eggplant parmesan" (like did we love it or what in the tone) ! Neither, it's chicken. He recovered well. :) The two of us ate for just under $60, which we paid gladly. Edgewood, you are now our official go-to place for a lovely meal. We'll definitely be back, with friends, with family, and on our rare but treasured special date nights. You've won our culinary hearts.

I came here with a pretty large party, pretty late on a week night for a friends birthday. The staff was great - very attentive and accommodating! The menu is pretty small and I think we managed to order one of each of the entree options (or close to everything at least). The food was all delicious! I personally had the salmon entree, but also had many bites of the eggplant lasagna, crab cakes and chicken parm. All of the food was really good and the sides were also delicious. The risotto and asparagus that came with my salmon was DELISH! The food was a bit pricey, but its a classy place so no complaint there. It's also a BYOB which is nice and saves a little bit of cash. The tables are nice and big which is good for spreading out, but made conversation with anyone who wasn't directly next to me pretty hard, which I don't like. This is tough for any restaurant to get the perfect table layout though... especially with big parties. The scenery outside is also so cute, a very nice quiet street with lots of greenery around! It would be a nice place to sit and dine outside which I saw many people doing. I will definitely be back!

My daughter is getting married in September and the Bridesmaids choose the Edgewood Cafe as the venue for the Bridal Shower. The Edgewood Cafe was absolutely perfect! Kristen and all of the servers we very courteous and attentive; the food was fantastic! I personally had the fried chicken entree it was delicious. Everyone loved the food and definitely said they would be back. Great place, great service and great food...a must!

This is an adorable little BYOB in the midst of a lot of Chinese food pick up places and pizza joints. We were thrilled to find it, and when we rolled up without a reservation at 5:45, the restaurant was nearly empty. They kinda hemmed and hawed and then announced, "we can give you until 6:45. That's an hour for dinner." We agreed, muttering to ourselves that such details aren't usually announced to the restaurant, but rather just handled gracefully between service and the back of the house. But, fine. I guess beggars can't be choosers. We did feel rather unwelcome- fit in as a favor rather than happy to have us, but like I said... Whatever. The restaurant did seem to be very popular which must be a function of their location because we found the food just OK. The starter bread wasn't appealing, although the herb butter was. The Caesar salad was oily and we found unappetizing chunks of anchovy paste (I hope?) amongst the leaves. We got the steak which was surrounded by gristle. I did have some really nice bites in there amongst the tough ones, but I can't say I was terribly impressed. All that said, if I lived closer, I'd give this restaurant another look... with reservations. They do a nice job with presentation and decor, but for my first time out, I'd say those are the two biggest strengths.

It was AMAZING!!! My mom found this restaurant and we were skeptical at first but the service was great and the food was so amazing. They had a pre-set menu so not everything you see on the online menu is the same. Well anyways to get to the point; we started off with the scallops and shrimp in bacon (delicious) and we decided to do the filet mignon egg rolls ... Which they were so amazing that we had to order another tray! For our main entrees my mom ordered the eggplant Parmesan, my aunt, uncle and dad ordered the encrusted chicken with gnocchi's, I got the jumbo crab cakes with lobster risotto and my boyfriend ordered the applewood steak (medium-well) which melts in your mouth. These portions are an amazing size (which I was surprised) and we shared everything!!!! There was nothing that we didn't like, we had no more room to eat (belly wise) because we were full from sharing everything but decided to get dessert anyway: the caramel apple donuts I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND, and the Lavazza Cappuccino Crème Brulee! Our overall experience was great we enjoyed our night out on a snow day and stuffed or faces!! We will definately be back!

I only knew this restaurant was here because my daughters' ballet studio is next door. Since I am now a huge fan, I have done my part to never use their limited parking while I wait for my kids. I can imagine the minivan mafia presence gets annoying. Anyway, everything about our experience here was wonderful- our server was knowledgeable and attentive. The bacon wrapped shrimp and scallops were perfect, and nearly made my husband cry man tears (which he didn't even do at the birth of our children) My salmon was delicious and my husband's steak came on a cutting board, which he reminisces about frequently. The musician was also a hit, added to the ambiance rather than distracting from it. People poured into the restaurant like they were all regulars- with wide grins and wine bottles. There was a very pleasant vibe, and we will definitely be back!

Wow - I can't believe this gem is just a few minutes from home. We will be coming back for sure. Saturday at 8:30 and we were seated right away at a cozy table outside. Great musician inside playing the perfect music. Food was scrumptious. We shared the Italian Cheese and meat tray. Only complaint was there was no crackers to eat them with and we had already eaten too much bread frm the basket. I had the Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna with lobster fried rice and spinach with a ginger honey sauce. DIVINE!!!! Boyfriend had Blackened filet and scallops with gorganzola mashed potatoes. Steak ordered medium but was really medium rare. I love when you go to a place and you can't decide what to choose off the menu because you want to try them all. We will be going back.

We have been to this restaurant 4 times and I still feel the same way. It is okay. The quality of the food does not match the price. I always expect more and leave thinking about other the outstanding BYOB's I have visited where the price is comparable but the food is memorable.

Upscale BYOB with casual prices. Really like the wedge salad and filet mignon here. Pork chop was very good, also the Chicken Parm with gnocchi. Filet mignon egg rolls were also pretty addicting. BYOB so bring your favorite bottle(s) of wine.

Great local BYOB in Havertown with a nice atmosphere and a delicious menu that seems to be always changing. I love it as a "go-to" place when I want to eat out but don't have a reservation. Not a 5-star restaurant but one of Havertown's hidden gems for sure!

Great food and great service. The only lack of 5th star is for the rather high prices and the dark interior decor.

Nice neighborhood BYO with very good, albeit pricey food. The place is extremely clean and the service is excellent. The appetizers are great but the entrees are uneven. For a surprisingly good entrée, try the Southern Fried Chicken.

My boyfriend and I eat here about once a month and I'm always very happy. We never have a problem getting a wheelchair accessible table and the food is delicious. I could take or leave the live music but overall I love this place.

Had a delicious meal, great service, and live music. What more could you ask for! Every app, entree, and dessert our table ordered was spot on. The prices are definitely reasonable for the quality. Will be going back.
