Rookies is a bar near the eastern part of Harrisburg on Derry street. I usually frequent this place during the NFL season as it is a more "honest" atmosphere then the Downtown Sports bars with the exception of Kokomo's. They have daily specials on food and brew and you can have a private engagement upstairs. It is a good place to take a family or just hang out with friends. Pool tables, sometimes a DJ, Jukebox, Karaoke-i think-, private dining, plenty of TV and screens, ATM. Pros: The food is decent and the wings were great when I used to eat them. I liked the salads the best. Drinks were about what you'd expect and the Owner and staff are friendly. Wings are comparable to Kokomo's and The Underdog-perhaps a bit better depending on your preference. Cons: Parking, Parking, Parking! And the quality of service goes down in the off season. The owner is the same owner of Gilligan's (i think) and it shows when he's not there. For the size of this place they could have more restrooms. If you order certain burgers they bury them in cole slaw. I HATE Cole SLAW!!! If you forget to tell the waiter you don't want it, you'll have a plate full of it.

Wings are wonderful and they really are family friendly, without forgetting it's a good sports bar!

Best burgers in harrisburg. Love it because they make a large, thin bun to fit their large thin burgers. Many options for topping, I'm partial to the 'blitz'

The food isn't bad - your typical bar food. Wings, burgers, fries, sandwiches. There's video games and music and all that. There's even Karaoke one night, but I'm not sure which night that is. The service, wow. How do I describe the service. First of all - it's evident that the servers don't care how they present themselves as most of them look like former strippers who now weigh too much to continue stripping. And if looking at them touch my food wasn't bad enough - can they bring me my food? Another drink please? While you're just standing there doing nothing perhaps I could get a refill... Or not... Don't worry about it then - it's just coming out of your tip :) One server even had the nerve to yell at me for playing the juke box. I put 3 dollars in and began selecting my songs, when she told me "You better not be using my credits. I wasn't done". First of all, bitch - I have my own money. I don't need to steal juke box credits. Secondly, you're WORKING! It's not play juke box day at work so catch a brick. Some former co-workers used to like to go there, but now that I'm rid of that job I definitely won't be back to Rookie's!

This place is ok. Cheap fried food that's decent, great beer specials, and the staff is usually friendly. It would have gotten 3 stars except THE TV IS CONSTANTLY TUNED TO FOX NEWS. Plus, for a neighborhood that is mostly African American, it's odd that most of the servers are white, hmm... Please change the channel at least! It really bothers me and I'll be taking my money elsewhere, unless this changes.

Ok, so I've been here 4 times with a buddy of mine after work. After the first time.....we were hooked. The wings may be the best the 'burg has to offer. But the burgers....the burgers.........the burgers are f'in insane. We usually split an order of the Bleu hot wings and then split a burger. Usually just a California. But this time we went with the Hat Trick. 1/2 lb burger with Swiss cheese mushrooms with slaw on the side. And the make their rolls in house. This burger was, dare I say, orgasmic. I will most certainly have another of these the next time we come. This place has yet to disappoint me.

Best wings ever! I ordered the garlic parm wings and they were the best I've ever had. The second time I went I got the burger and it truly was the best burger in the burgh. Service was also very good. I met the owner and he was also very kind.
