Solid Pho restaurant. Ordered the egg noodles with wonton and roast pork, met all of my expectations!

So I agree with other reviewers - don't come here for the ambience. There isn't any. But with food this good, who cares?? We've eaten Vietnamese food all over the country and got pretty spoiled in New Orleans (with a Vietnamese population of around 14,000). This is the best beef pho I've had outside of homemade in a long time. And the grilled pork bun bowl was delicious. We didn't try anything else, but these are our standard dishes and we were very pleased.

Just ok. Much better Vietnamse in the area. A typical nondescript place like the others in Harrisburg, it is just that the food is ordinary. Check out Nink Kieu, which is close by. You won't be disappointed.

This place is just OK....not the best I've had and definately not the worse either. In my opinion, I thought the broth was too peppery and had a lil too much of star anise in it. The bowls were also a lot smaller than what I'm used to having here in the Philadelphia region. I normally only order smalls in Philly (and even ordering small, I give some to my husband), but at this place, I finished a large bowl. My husband was a little upset that I didn't share any of my pho with him bc he was still starving after eating his bowl. HAHAHA. The good about this place...the coffee. I loved that they actually brought it out in a drip press. I hate places that have iced coffee already pre-made and just pour ice when it's ordered. Not here!! Comes out dripping and a cup of ice on the side for when you are ready to pour it in! Love it.

Came here for lunch in a group of 6. My husband and I were the only two that never got our food. The service was really slow. We just paid for whatever we got and told them we never got our two orders and left. Never coming back here again.

Very good food. We are not Vietnamese but we feel it was an authentic experience. Minus 1 star for lack of service. Also does not feel as clean as it could be for the dishes/utensils they use and the table/floors as well. We always get the pho.

I told my husband that I have to write a review on Yelp about this restaurant because it will be the only way I'll remember the name of this place. My family usually finds this restaurant a reliable option whenever we make a road trip in this direction. The service is quick and the pho is piping hot and tasty. I especially like the fact that they include the sale tax in their prices.

I've been coming here forever and I must say the food is simply amazing. The atmosphere and service I will admit are completely terrible but that's what makes this restraunt a special place, the way they order, the way they serve, and the way they cook are simply special to me. So if all you care about is being a "food" critic, not a interior designer then come here and you will have positive things to say. Trust me come here. Also get the Pork and Shrimp soup or the Pork Vermicelli.

What a great place! Food selection was very large of pho variety, waitstaff was very friendly, and food was very good. I can't wait to come back again! Make sure you take time to read done if his write ups about the restaurant. It makes this place very unique and special.

A-OK. So my parents are friends with the owner, so I can't make this too harsh... I haven't been here in a few years, so this review is based on my most recent experience a few months ago. Pros: Authentic Vietnamese dishes. Friendly servers. Simple decor, but good food. And connected to a asian supermarket if you need to shop after eating. Cons: Since I live closer to Philly these days, I'm comparing what I had to my usual spots on Washington Ave. Portions at Little Saigon were much smaller and more expensive than what I typically get at Nam Phuong or Cafe Viet Huong. But taste just about the same.

I would say only if your desperate and close... walkable close. There are better restaurants within a short drive.

I used to come here every weekend growing up because it was where my dad would socialize with his friends. The food is decent - not the best in the area but not the worst I've had, either. Their thit nuong is seasoned pretty well. Their sauce for spring rolls, though, is pretty bad. It tastes okay, but it's too watery. There's always some cheesy Vietnamese show playing on their TVs... which is amusing for about five minutes before it gets annoying.

I haven't been here in quite a while, but it really hasn't changed. That's not a bad thing, either. The lunch folks (like me) don't get to enjoy the nicer dining room, and there is definitely nothing fancy about the place, but the food is very good, and quite reasonable. I had my usual spring roll appetizer. Little Saigon only gives you one roll, where others in the area give you two. But it's still very tasty, and definitely worth the price ($1.25). Next I had the basic beef pho. One of the better pho offerings I've had in the area. The beef was tasty, with no fat or gristle, and the broth was nicely seasoned. There was plenty of food, and I'm once again regretting that I didn't get a small bowl! I also had a Coke. Strangely enough, they have a large soda fountain near the cash register, but they serve soft drinks by the can. Overall, this is a nice place for a quick, no-nonsense lunch.

pros = This is a great little restaurant that is located off of Paxton Street, next to Jumbo Buffet. It used to be an old beer warehouse a long long time ago. the food is excellent. and i like it very spicy. Little Saigon has a basic menu, they just recently expanded it to about 25 different items. so if you dont know what to get they only have a few things to choose from. it has a main lunch hall, and also a dining area that they just recently opened up that looks a lot nicer than the rest of the place. There are TVs mounted on the walls or at either end of the dining hall that have sports or vietnamese langauge programing on. there and people are always chatting and gossiping about something. reminds me of what it would be like to actually be in Saigon. this actually is the oldest operating vietnamese restaurant in harrisburg city. and seriously.... since they opened that HACC campus up by Garden, garden raised their prices on everything by about 35% that's crazy, rose also has raised her prices... garden has a basic menu, but still is in the 4.95 - 5.25 range for most of their soups. there have been about a doszen that have come and gone, especially in the paxton street area: pho pasteur, pho vietnam, pho van houc, the pho inside Remy's XO club, hung xue, saigon delite, etc.... cons = This store is the only vietnamese restaurant that sells egg rolls individually, normally they come in a pair. The last time i wet there they gave me two pairs of spring rolls, when all i wanted was one pair. I never really have been upset with people who move to this country, of the fact that they cant always speak english perfectly, I think I admire they because they are bold, they move to a new country and totally change their way of life. But it sometimes is a hassle when you say something and they dont fully grasp what you are trying to say. Also they dont take debit or credit cards, cash only. once i forgot my cash and they made me go to the store and charge my card in the store and give the cash to the waiter. I think this would have 5 stars except for the fact that the menu is so limited.

I think this is the best Vietnamese place that I have tried in the area. Prices are good and quality is the best. Was a regular at the Vietnamese Garden, but now will be a regular here. The garden is getting too expensive. Place is nothing fancy and looks a little run down. Best thing is that the workers are friendly. Service is not stellar. Never was asked about refills and my order was wrong, but all is forgiven because the price and flavor was better than the rest, if you know what I mean.

Congratulations, you lost a customer. You wait 30 minutes into a limited lunch period to tell me you are out of chicken, while simultaneously bringing out my friend's meal. So now I have no time to go somewhere else to eat and I'm forced to sit and watch my friend slurp his soup down. Never coming here again.

Food is pretty good, inexpensive, service is prompt not too fancy; when my fam. & I where in VN I always tried to find the "whole in the wall" type of places, this place certainly fits that bill complete w/VN dudes who sit in back & shoot the sh*t just yaking around (usually in room next to store). My fav is of course Pho, one of the few foods I love any time of day & any season, ' sure miss walking through the narrow alleys in Saigon very early in the morning, seeing, smelling & hearing old ladies chopping, cutting, ingredients for their version of Pho......

This is my 2nd favorite Vietnamese restuarant (Roses is best). Their food is tasty, decent Pho and nice menu though not as extensive as Roses. Service is good and friendly. Pho is good. Their egg rolls have a peppery flavor to them which is different from the other places. Nice as a change..

I've come here for as long as I can remember. I usually get the bun bo hue w/ pork knuckle. A word of advice, if you try this, order a crispy french baguette to dip in the broth and don't wear a white shirt bc you will inevitably splash yourself. I love coming here bc afterwards I can swing over to the store and get my vietnamese groceries.

it's okay for a vietnamese restaurant. maybe it has such a high rating since it's one of the very few vn restaurant in the rea. (i think there is only one other one and it just has its grand opening last week). It's convenient for people who are living in harrisburg. but that's the only plus thing in my experience with it. also it's right next to the supermarket. so the men can eat here while waiting for their women to do some grocery shopping.

I've been coming here with my family since before I can remember and now I am in college and bring friends here myself. The place is definitely a dive, but with that comes character. Don't expect a fancy place or pretentious food. The service is always prompt and friendly and if you come here enough the waitstaff will start calling you by name and bringing your usual out before you even realize they know you're there. All the food is pretty good for the Vietnamese I've had, but I'm no expert. I'm a bit biased though since I've been coming to this joint since I was a little girl so I'd feel like I'd be cheating on them if I went anywhere else in the area. I have tried Rose's and the place in Asia Mall off 13th street, but I still keep coming back here. It's definitely a neighborhood place; you end up seeing the same people there again and again. The #1 (pho with... well everything in it) is especially good and their fried halved quails are to die for! Prices are always low even if they've raised them in the last few years. I will be coming here until I die. Four stars despite it being a dive, since it's a good dive. Edit 2/7/12: They've rearranged their menu so the #1 mentioned above is no longer the #1, but I ordered it this past weekend and they still knew what I meant. Originally, a #1 was beef noodle soup with meatballs, tripe, and brisket, but now, the appetizers are first on the menu. I suppose it makes more sense that way. Also, come later this month (I forget which particular day) they will be raising their prices according to a notice they posted in the restaurant. I can't imagine that it'll be too much, but I'm hoping it won't be exorbitantly expensive. They've also remodeled the place a bit in the past few months with new tile flooring and different but similar colors/seating. Nothing you wouldn't notice unless you've been going there for a while I think.

Dreadful. The "Large" noodle dish that I ordered (not Pho) was neither large nor good. It was edible. That's it. The spring rolls were half the size that I typically get at other Vietnamese restaurants. The spring rolls were mediocre at best. Roses food is far better. Compared to a really good Vietnamese resto ( yelp.com/biz/rice-and-no… ), the food I've had the two times I've been to Little Saigon has been awful.

Though the prices are a little bit high and portions just a little bit tiny for their stir fries, you have to love the atmosphere as well as the pho (soup) offerings. I think I will stick to the pho next time. I also want to try their beef stew and grilled pork as well. I recommend ordering extra waters and drinks since the waiters are always busy and don't always check on you. Another unique thing about this restaurant is that they have two separate dining rooms- one for lunch and one for dinner.

Love this casual place. The spring rolls are great, just enough pork/shrimp and herbs. I usually order the seafood soup with clear noodles and ask for shrimp only. The broth is tasty and warms you up on a cold day. The basil smells so good. The service is okay, but the food comes out quick and is very affordable. After you eat, walk around the adjacent store and pick up some Asian sauces or snacks. They have the lowest price.

I love this place, the pho is very average but it's so cheap! The inside of the place has extremely little in the way of aesthetic appeal. I've been here a number of times and highly recommend the spicy beef soup with vermicelli noodles. For $5 you will get the biggest bowl of soup you've ever seen!

Talk about a no-nonsense place to eat. Get in, Get your stuff, eat it, and get out. Every time I've come here, the time it takes for me to sit down, grab the menu and focus my eyes to the page, there is already a server ready to take the order. Thankfully I have been here enough to know their menu pretty well for this to be commonplace during ordering. A few complaints to get out of the way. Most of the time they will come to your table once, thats it. So you'd better order everything you need right at the beginning, this includes your extra waters you will need, teas and also sodas. Refills are an option if you manage to flag one of the servers down for one but it will be something you need to work for since these guys rarely stop moving. Second during busy times the noise can be almost unbearable since there is nothing to stop it from traveling so come during off hours if noise is a problem for you. With that out of the way, the pho here I've found is the best tasting (for me) out of any place in Harrisburg. They add the meat pretty much raw to the hot broth right before its brought to your table so it cooks on the way and is very fresh. You can also request they keep it on the side and you can add it at your own pace. Their noodle bowls have room for improvement, and their eggrolls are slightly peppery which I am not fond of. Their spring rolls are good and made fresh right as they're ordered. Sometimes they come out and tell me they are making them and that's why they haven't been brought out yet. Take the pho from here, add the eggrolls from the garden and you'll have yourself a fantastic combination.

We were shopping at teh attached Market (for Pho fixin's) and decided to try the Pho. Service was quick... the place was pretty empty and the Pho's came fast. The interior is dated to un-kept, but you're really not looking for high-end atmosphere... with a bowl of Pho, anyway. I'd have to say - the Pho is pretty darn good, but not great. I just think... that the noodes in Pho s/b, not clumped together. The brooth / stock here is good, but not great. The meat (beef) was good. The prices are fair, maybe even on hte low-side for the area, not like we're talking about a big investment... the average large bowl of Pho in this area is about $8. All in all, I'd have to say, if you're hungry for Pho, this place is just-fine. The big plus would be, you can shop for your Asian Food needs, while you're there, nice option.

Little Saigon is one of the Best Vietnamese restaurants in Harrisburg, PA. It's in a great central location off of Paxton Street. I have been coming here since I was 5, I am now 26. The menu is pretty basic but they have recently added new items. Also, there are some off the menu items that you have to ask for. You should be able to ask the server what is available that day. My favorite off the menu item is Bun Rieu (Crab Soup). Literally EVERY item on the menu is delicious. As far as appearance goes, a previous review stated that it looks a little dirty inside. That is all part of the ambience! It has the downhome dive Vietnam restaurant feel. That is part of what I'm attracted to. Also, the servers are awesome, friendly and they bring your food out in a timely matter. The prices are low and they now have a credit card machine. Overall, other Vietnamese restaurants have come and gone and cannot master the basics of Vietnamese cooking as Little Saigon. And there can only be one reason. They're awesome.
