DC was recommended by a friend when I visited Harrisburg this week. The service was prompt, all of the food was hot and fresh. I had the bison tacos and a cold smoked ribeye. This is not your run of the mill resturaunt. The items on the menu were your favorites...with a twist. It's in an industrial area and may not look like much, but the food and service are worth the stop. Friendly people, good menu, hot fresh food, reasonable prices.

Not the place if you're in a hurry.Seated right away, but then sat and sat in a mostly empty restaurant waiting to place orders. Cons: Service was slow and altogether too familiar (saucy?) for all but a regular, no skim milk, smallish menu with little demonstrated "creativity" (no sausage or chipped beef gravy, no eggs benedict, menu heavy on eggs, bread and meat), on the pricey side for breakfast. Pro: The food was simple but mostly okay. M didn't like the sausage and didn't finish her French toast. Coffee was better than average. Mushroom and Swiss omelette contained what seemed to be fresh mushrooms. Riced home fries were unextraordinary. In the panoply of area breakfast places, this doesn't deserve a second chance. While I've had good food the two times I've been to Dodge City (fried oysters for dinner years ago, immediately post-Irvine), its drawbacks outweigh whatever advantages it presents. Not "bad," just not good enough. Won't be going back.

Had the Smokehouse Tangler burger today which featured a brioche roll with bacon, cheese, onion tangles, and a smoky barbecue sauce. The roll was outstanding. Well buttered and toasted, and able to handle all the juices from the burger. The burger was very, very good but not great. I ordered it medium rare, but my burger had very little pink in the middle. Also, there was almost no char on the patty, something I look for in a burger. The patty was juicy, though, and not messy. Again, very, very good. For me, this is the second best Burger Battle meal so far behind Jackson House and well worth a trip into Harrisburg.

I came here because my mom seemed to want me and my dad to try this place when he stopped by for lunch on the way to New York. We went in on a Saturday at about 1pm. The place was fairly empty so we got a large booth that seated 4 but could have seated 6. The dinner menu is served all day Sunday which I find annoying because I'm not all that hungry at 1pm. But whatever. The iced tea is good and they are good about refills - best thing about the place in my opinion. I got the french onion soup and a loaded potatoe since I wasn't hungry. The french onion soup was....okay. It was made fine - onions cooked well and everything, but it had very little flavor and the bread was really gooey - it was like they used wonderbread or something instead of a day-old, stale-ish French bread like should be used. Nothing I'd come back for - still looking for delicious french onion soup in Harrisburg. The potato was okay as well. Nothing special. Tasted like the ones I get in the freeze aisle at Giant - and I like those but I mean, it's not worth 3 dollars at a restaurant. Service was fine, but I wouldn't be rushing back here any time soon. It's still fairly ugly inside, despite the remodeling, but it also just isn't my kind of place I guess.

The food was pretty good. We came for the Sunday Brunch. I had an omelet while my wife had the strawberry waffle tower. I also had a Bloody Mary, my wife had the peach Bellini. The portions were generous for the price and, between the two of us we only spent $35, so certainly no complaints about the value. If anything could improve, it would be the service. Our waitress was rather gruff and completely inefficient. Getting a coffee refill was a chore, not to mention trying to pay our check. That was disappointing, especially considering that the restaurant was only about half full.

I did not know this place existed until I dropped off my car for service and took a leisurely walk towards downtown Harrisburg. Hostess/waitress was very upbeat and pleasant for 7am, Menu items very reasonably price. I enjoyed the Western themed memorabilia that adorned the walls and booth areas.

Met our friends who live in Harrisburg for dinner here. We very much enjoyed the friendly service (although might have been because our friends are regulars!) and the steaks are what Dodge City is known for. The fact that they have covered outdoor seating was nice. Both booths and tables in the dining room. Because we are on a paleo diet, the menu was absolutely perfect for us -- lots of options and the variety of veggies and the ability to substitute to avoid the carb heavy potatos was most welcome. They had several surf and turf options as well with scallops and shrimp. I went a second time for their Sunday brunch and just let me say this -- WOW! There were so many tasty items on the menu. The strawberry waffle tower was beautifully presented -- all brunch entrees come with a mini cinnamon roll and hash browns so the amount of food was overwhelming! I am so glad our friends introduced us to Dodge City and when passing through, this is a must stop around meal time.

Featured on Restaurant Impossible. Very good food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonable prices. I've eaten here numerous times - all for breakfast and not a bad meal on the menu with very good service.

Don't be fooled by the awkward decor, the food here is fantastic. Filet Mignon was very tender and perfectly cooked. I got the pork chops which was thick, moist, and amazing! Great sauce. I had a jasmine lemonade drink that was very delicious:) The service here is very friendly and the bartender really knew his stuff! Decor could definitely use some...help. I would return for the food!

Overpriced diner that is trying to be high end. I was leery when I entered the dumpy revamped diner with only one other table with customers. Just order the burgers or sandwich and you will probably be ok. I ordered the aged (cold smoked) rib eye and although it was very tasty, it was way too thinly cut and came with two onion rings on top??? Not for that price. To be fair, the waitress tried to steer me towards the regular steaks, but I thought the high end steaks might be good. Colleague had large friend shrimp plate, also very over priced, good but not that good. Kind of a dumpy little place that is trying to be more but not succeeding. Too bad. Chef/owner came out to check on us (place was empty), but waitress kind of bored/distracted. I know this is a Restaurant Impossible place, but somehow they have not succeeded. It's too bad. Empty, no customers, cut corners with the thin high end steak with weird additions like onion rings and only one side (some over cooked, boiled brussel sprouts) I'm sorry, but for the money I (the company) paid, I will definitely not be back. I would not go here if I was paying for it personally. Owner seems nice, but I just can't pay that kind of money for mediocre diner food. Maybe there are some good things on the menu, but if you advertise yourself as a steakhouse and you serve so so high priced steaks, I can't gamble on the rest of the menu.

Dodge City was featured in the local Harrisburg newspaper this past month for their burgers as part of a "best of" series and received great reviews. Haven't been there in at 10 years so decided to stop with my wife. She got a California burger ($10 just lettuce, tomato, mayo) and I got the 12 oz prime rib ($22). The burger came with fries and the prime rib surprisingly only came with one side (potato or rice). The burger was char-grilled so it had that flavor bur little else to offer. The prime rib while tender was also under-seasoned (including the au jus). For the price just an average meal.

Food was good but the service was terrible. The waitress has no idea what is going on. 1. Not a local so I guessed she was asking if I wants my eggs over easy when she said "Do you want scrambled or dippy eggs?" FYI dear there are also Poached, over medium (less dippy) over hard ( no dippy) and Sunday side up for ordering opinions. 2. No condiments on the table. I heard the sever complain to the kitchen staff that " they didn't put jam out last night" they also forgot ketchup, hot sauce, and syrup. 3. Do not ask if I want more water or coffee, if you are my water glass or coffee cup getting low fill it up. 4. Carry a pen or maybe even a few pens on your person. I will never go back and do not recommend you do either.

Well we r coming in for breakfast. Prices look good. Having to ask for coffee refills is not good.. The food was good but for not being too busy I thought service a little slow. Too much chatter with customers and too loud. Waitress voice realllly echos in here. Sort of in my brain...ya know? Food was good tho, gotta go.

Downright impressive! Cold-smoked rib-eye was delicious. Salmon entree likewise received a rave review, as did the filet mignon and Pittsburgh salad with tenderloin. I've been here many times for brunch, lunch and dinner and always leave very happy! Do yourself a favor and forego the chain restaurants and give this independent steak house a shot.

Yum. Great family place with good steaks. We had a blast and set up the two grandkids with a video on my laptop while we chowed down on great steaks. It's basic, not too fancy, but just plain good. We had prime rib and filet. The onion straws and sauce were well prepared but again, the steak was the stand out. The staff is super friendly and this is definitly a good place for the family!

Really really good. Like most restaurants the service could be better but other than that there's nothing to complain about. Their smoked whiskey is really neat, and the cold smoked ribeye is soooooooo good. If your not sure about where to go this place is a no-brainer.

Wow. If I had to do a one word review, that would be it. I had heard about this place because it was the only joint in the Harrisburg area that came up on the TV food maps app and site as having been on a program. It was interestingly enough Restaurant Impossible, but I checked out the website and figured it would be a nice change of pace for a steakhouse. I didn't see the episode, but at first I was wishing they had used some of that remodeling money to ensure every booth had a seat without a hole in it. I think mine was the only one in the entire restaurant like that, though, and it wasn't that big. Plus, it's Dodge City, right? Gotta have some 'rustic charm' to it. ;) The decor overall was pretty nifty, though. You could definitely tell how they put 'lipstick on a pig,' or maybe more accurately, put makeup on every part of the pig except the lips. For the most part, everything was gorgeous and modern/chic/hip looking. There were some elements, though, where if you look really close, you will definitely see many years worth of time and grime present. Not enough to detract from the overall scenery, though... or the food. The beer cheese soup really is quite awesome. Not only do you have a great cheese flavor in front of you, but the real stars are the vegetables and base, which almost stand out more than the cheese. It was nicely balanced, well thickened, and very flavorful. I'm glad I only went with the cup! The bison tacos are a must-have for me now. Think barbacoa burrito from Chipotle, only smaller and leaner. These were good in and of themselves, and I would have loved eating just them, but the picante sauce... smokey, tangy, not-too-spicy, fresh, sublime... I would buy it by the jar, and that's a fact. The main course was a New York strip. Was it as good as those chain places? Nope, it was better. Was it as good as a high-end steakhouse? Well... maybe. It could at least hold it's own. It was DEFINITELY worth the price, though, that much I can guarantee you. Also, the smoked tomato and spinach blue cheese orzo was very tasty. It was pretty evenly balanced, which could be quite hard to do given all of those flavors. Definitely try those smoked tomatoes, though... really really impressive. The chef came over to visit and asked how everything was. That kind of dedication... I cannot say enough about that, really. I cannot say enough about anyone who takes their job, especially in the restaurant business, that seriously and that passionately. The bartender came over twice, even! He was very eager to see how I liked his new season offerings, and he shared his concerns with me over the items. For the record, the drinks were outstanding, too! Overall, definitely a win. I will likely be back again next time I'm in town.

Everytime I've been here the food is out of this world. You HAVE to try their house chips. Heaven on a plate. Entrees are all amazing!! They even have different infused vodkas for those looking for a little pick me up ;]

I dined at Dodge City on my way through Harrisburg during our last trip to Syracuse, NY. We were tired from driving all night, and decided on Dodge City because we saw it advertised on an episode of Restaurant Impossible, and wanted to try the re-vamped food and menu. We were very pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. Food: We came for lunch, so my wife had the Prime Rib Sandwich, while I had the Pork BBQ Sandwich. Both sandwiches were very good. The Prime Rib Sandwich featured thinly sliced prime rib that was super-tender. It had been pre-dipped in au jus that was really flavorful, and very well-balanced. I have had au jus that just tastes like watered-down beef broth. This au jus had some developed flavor that really enhanced the dish. Lastly, the roll was soft and fresh. If it wasn't fresh, they did a great job masking it, because I could not tell. Lastly, the horseradish sauce was a good accompaniment. It was a little lacking in the flavor-department for me, but it added to the sandwich. For me, I would have liked a little cheese on this sandwich in the form of whole milk mozzarella. Similarly, the Pork BBQ Sandwich was also very good. Excellent BBQ sauce with well developed flavor, and the pork had been cooked-down extremely well, to the point that it was super-tender, and had absorbed all of the delicious braising-juices. Like the Steak sandwich, the brioche bun was delicious, and was a huge compliment to the sandwich. French Fries: I don't usually rate sides, but I was a huge fan of these fries. Definitely better than your average restaurant french fry. Food: 5 / 5 Service: For me, the service was exactly what I would have expected. The server was pleasant, prompt, and courteous. It was standard service, on a slow day at the restaurant. Service: 3 / 5 Atmosphere: The atmosphere is a little eccentric, but it is a cozy environment that has a great feel to it. It feels warm, inviting, and sincerely seems to me as if the owners want you to feel like part of the family. Atmosphere: 4 / 5 Price: For what I received, the price was in-line with the quality. The sandwiches were excellent, so for $9 and $8, I feel as if I got what I paid for. Admittedly, I would much prefer $7 and $6 for a similar meal. Though, as I mentioned, the quality of these sandwiches made the price-point justifiable. Price: 3 / 5 Final Thoughts: There are some seriously questionable low-star ratings listed here. Penalizing a restaurant by giving them 1 star overall for a questionable service experience is b.s, and people need to seriously re-evaluate the way they rate restaurants. Yes, it sucks when you receive bad service. Yes, it is annoying when condiments are not on the tables; but it seems highly petty and un-objective of people to blast a restaurant for only one aspect of the whole experience. I firmly believe that there are very few 1-star restaurants out there, and Dodge City is far from it. I highly recommend this place, and am already planning my next trip through Harrisburg to include a stop at Dodge CIty

I realized today, I've never given a review for one of our favorite home town restaurants! Dodge City is on the outskirts of Harrisburg, and not an area I typically head looking for a meal. I've seen the building for years and a year or so ago I finally decided to try it. So glad I did! In my travels I've had the fortune to attend two cooking/dining events with Robert Irvine from Restaurant Impossible, and figured out before my first, that this little restaurant in Harrisburg was one of his early projects on the show. I tried it about a year ago and ever since, have frequented them for lunch. My wife and daughters finally joined me for breakfast there late last year, and Dodge City is our favorite breakfast ever. We were just in sunny Florida and I was reminded when my wife said she can't wait to get back to Harrisburg (negative temperatures!) to have breakfast at Dodge City! Doug and crew provide such personal service and their food is delicious. We just left breakfast this morning all smiles and I want to share. My wife and I love love love their build your own omelettes, particularly with smoked jalapeños and smoked ribeye. My daughters usually enjoy one of their pancake or waffle creations. Maybe peanut buttercup pancakes aren't something you find everywhere, but wow! On top of great food, all of their people are so personal and attentive. You can't go into the place without feeling welcome. Bravo Dodge City! You're always aces. I'm looking forward to my next visit! One last note-- When I went to one of Robert Irvine's cooking events last year, I mentioned my love of Dodge City, and Robert didn't simply remember it, he lit up and shared how great Doug and Debbie are personally and how good an experience it was with the restaurant. When I visited Dodge City a few months ago I met Doug when he came by our table and struck up conversation. I mentioned Irvine, and he too lit up about how great Robert is and how much of an impact he's had on them personally and their business. It's a small world, and it's great to see authentic people. Be sure to try this place, you won't be disappointed.

First, I have to say that I didn't eat here. I read the reviews and was ready to order a great steak, but the server was so rude and annoying that we left minutes after being seated. She came out to take our drink order while we were still getting sat. We told her we wanted a minute to look over the options and she left. Then we realized none of us had a drink menu... The waitress came back about 5 minutes later with the drink menu and asked us if we had decided. I told her that we didn't have a drink menu so we still needed a minute. She then very rudely said "I just brought it. Do any of you even want waters". Then looked at my 3 year old son and said "or is he having a beer too?", all the while clicking her pen. We repeated that we still needed some time. we had had a very busy day and were looking forward to a leisurely dinner with great steak. However, we were so annoyed that we decided to go down the road to Cork and Fork. That was a fantastic decision. I honestly cannot imagine making another trip back here. To be treated so rudely and to sit in such a drab environment... Not even a perfect steak would make the experience worth it.

Met a friend here for lunch. We both got the prime rib sandwiches. Best sandwich I have ever eaten. Ever. That is not hyperbole. The au jus was amazing. The horseradish sauce was good but the sandwich was so good without it, I couldn't bring myself to use it. The sauce was too good to leave behind so I took i with me. :) I've had their other food. Some is very good. Some is average. But that prime rib. I crave it. I'm almost afraid to go back and order it again. It might not be as amazing and my dreams might be crushed.

Been dying to try this place for a long time, and was finally able to do so tonight. Wish I didn't feel regretful now, but I do. We went out for a belated Mother's Day celebration. We know the history of the place from the Restaurant: Impossible episode, but the reviews were good. Menu is fantastic, first off! Everything sounds good, it's not too big, and it hits all areas you could have a yen for. I ordered the strawberry basil martini, and OMG. That was the best drink I've ever had! For entrees, my fiancé got the crab cakes and I got the rib eye. First thing that threw me for a loop was that the entrees only came with one side. I've always thought it to be standard to include two, but oh well. I got the baked stuff potato, and he got the carrots. Both entrees were $23, which I thought prior to ordering was fair. The food flew out of the kitchen...but there was only 2 other tables occupied, so no surprise there. The crab cakes looked ok, nothing special. They were a little on the smaller side. Fiancé said there wasn't lump crab in them, but I told him it was possible they just mixed it too much and it had broken up...but he corrected me and said there was a lot of breading. The rib eye looked a little on the thin side, but it was cooked perfect. Literally, it was the most perfect 'medium' I had ever seen. Seasoning was good, and it had that nice grill taste. The stuffed baked potato was just ok. It was baked too long, so there were parts that I couldn't cut through with a steak knife. Portion was a good size, but I really felt gypped without a starch and a vegetable. I would've felt better with a smaller rib eye with a potato and veggie. Dessert menu looked great, but we weren't willing to sink any more money into just an ok meal. I overheard a waitress say that everything is made in house. Service was good. Our waitress was very nice, and when we asked for suggestions, she had a few recommendations. I think she's the waitress I've read about in other reviews; her voice was rather loud but not annoying. It was hard not to expect great service when there was only four tables occupied the entire time though! Bottom line...I'd go back, but not if anyone I cared about were paying. Saw they have a happy hour from 8p-10p...I WOULD, however, pay for that martini again!

I went there this weekend because i really want to eat a good piece of meet and i follow the review, we arrived there at 430, only 30 min after open time, the place was empty we sit in one of the long tables, we were 5, the girls just stand us up because she wanted to check... something, and then she place us in the same table. When I ask for a good T bone steak they told me they didn't have one, then i search the menu and when i realize the price,I was little amaze i thought it was really expensive, for example the girl recommend me a 41$ dish, then i decide to go for the filet mignon (21$) the place was really small, the was only a 6onz filet mignon little burn and half stuffed potato. I think this place is overrated, when you compare the price to other steakhouse like Brazilians you fill you've been rob.

Consider this a 3.5 as we would return. We both ordered the ceasar salad which was substantial and tasty. We waited a significant time for our entrees which is an added reason for the score. My mate ordered the ribeye, medium, but it came our medium rare. He ate most of it due to the long wait but couldn't stomach some of the extremely rare sections. Far off from medium. I'm guessing with the long wait, they may have undercooked it to get it out. I ordered the seafood bake which I liked very much. My only suggestion would be to serve it with a lemon butter sauce on the side as I found lemmon wedges truly enhanced the meal. It order that again. Pleasant experience otherwise. I would return.

Giving 2 stars because the food was excellent. Our party of eight was at this restaurant for two hours because food was so slow. Server was pretty rude/unattentive. We called the manager and were very polite just letting him know our experience wasn't that great and he was extremely rude. He told us we definitely didn't wait around two hours and asked what we wanted him to do about it. Nice way to treat customers. We weren't trying to get anything free (especially since we already paid and left a couple hours earlier), we were just providing feedback. I never leave bad reviews but I thought this should be an exception. Not returning.

Very Good food!!! Went to DC for a company function for about 30 people the service was top notch. The drinks were not watered down. The appetizers were great and hot and not just fried fare you can get at any bar and grill. As for my entree; I had the cold smoke ribeye which is my favorite steak. it was cooked perfectly and the mash on the side and asparagus were a perfect compliment. For dessert I could not pass on the creme brûlée again it was perfect, the crunchy sugar topping and creamy custard topped my meal off. I am glad this restaurant went through the restaurant impossible make over. It certainly shows in their food.

We read all the great reviews and had high hopes. We ordered the calamari and it was really good! Even the dinner rolls were good. We waited 45 minutes for our meal...not good. I ordered a Ceasars salad and my husband, a burger. He ordered the burger medium. It was seriously raw inside..bright red. He hesitated but sent it back for more cooking. Came back better. The salad was a romaine heart sliced in half. I don't know..it just made me feel like I had to make it myself by having to cut the whole salad up. I added shrimp and it was 7 dollars more. .. but you got 4 shrimp. .I felt that was a little pricey. Overall, I thought it was just okay. . Nothing special.

Great service! Great food, solid menu and when our order came out it was absolutely delicious! I ordered the filet medium and it was one of the best steaks I have ever had (And I eat steak allot). I will say the steak had a nice char on the outside, which is how I like it, seasoned perfectly! Except the Demi glaze, not a fan, but that is a personal pallet preference not a reflection of the restaurant. House chips were a great appetizer, and the white chocolate crime brûlée was a good dessert. Go support local business!!

Took my parents here 2 weekends ago because of my dad's birthday and moms obsession with Restaurant Impossible. I was impressed! The prime rib was fantastic. It was RARE(exactly how I like it) and I was so happy...most places don't get that right. The spinach, tomato and bleu cheese orzo is too die for!!! I went back a second time for that side dish alone! On another note, I would highly recommend a reservation for Friday and Saturday nights. I would tell everyone to come here! I know that the prices are 'high', but its no higher than other locally owned restaurants.

One of the benefits of traveling for business is the opportunity afforded to try out local restaurants. It was with high hopes that I came to eat at Dodge City. I arrived just before 6pm on Monday night and had my pick of tables as only two were currently occupied. I ordered the Kansas City Strip, medium with a house salad and a water. The waitress brought out a basket of rolls with my salad but forgot my water. After finishing my salad and waiting several additional minutes with no waitstaff visible during that time, I decided to take matters into my own hand. Getting up, I went to the kitchen and asked someone for a glass of water, which was promptly delivered by my waitress with an apology. My steak came out shortly after and the presentation was wonderful. However, it was prepared more on the rare side than the medium side I had ordered. Not overly impressed at this point, I just went with it and enjoyed my meal. That is until my water ran out. A large group (8) was seated across from my table and my waitress passed by several times without checking on my water and without glancing my way, so I couldn't draw her attention to my lack of hydrating beverage. I finally asked a passing waitress if I could get a refill. Back to the meal: Aside from being undercooked, the Kansas City Strip was delicious. The mushrooms were sautéed to perfection. However, the horseradish mashed potatoes were more like regular mashed potatoes with nary a hint of horseradish to them (a disappointment as I was looking forward to them). After I had finished, my waitress cleared the dishes and asked if I was interested in dessert which I declined. At that point I waited 5 or 6 minutes for the check so I could end this disaster. It wasn't until the second waitress again offered to refill my water that I asked for and received my check. The finale to this sad sad tale of woe is that when the check was returned so I could sign the bill, my credit card was not there. I had to wait yet again until I could draw this to her attention. Apparently it fell out of the portfolio and some kind individual picked it up for her. As I'm not local I can't promise to give them another shot, but for the price of the meal, the service was miserable; particularly considering this was a slow Monday.

I have been here three times. Each time was fantastic. Caesar salad was nicely done, but it is a lot of salad. Buffalo chicken blue cheese egg rolls; flavor intensive and yummy. I was surprised how much I enjoyed these. It comes with a sauce that is tasty as well. Cold smoked steak is my favorite thing to get. I always get it medium rare. Tender and flavorful. Really has a strong smoke flavor Yukon mashed potatoes were tasty. Service is always polite. Owner will usually always say hello and check on the table if he walks by. He seems very invested in the restaurant. To be clear I have not watched the episode of his show, but have watched several others. Just Saying... I enjoy coming here. Hope to continue enjoying it as well.

Went for Easter Dinner with the Fam. It was the first time we had ever been there. I'm not going say it will be our last, but I'd probably give it a lot of thought before going again. Let me say first of all that their food was very good. The atmosphere, price, and service all needed considerable work though in my opinion. $30 for a NY strip? Really? The service was really, really slow and the waitress had no personality whatsoever. I waited 20 minutes for a beer. Crazy! I actually saw them ask a family who had been enjoying their time together to leave or relocate because they needed the table for the next victim. That was bad! Never saw that in a restaurant before. The one bad stood up and yelled how bad the service was and they left. So, bad service, high prices, lame atmosphere, but good food. Give em a 3..

Met with my family here the other day and I have to admit, I went in a bit skeptical because of Restaurant Impossible. However, every single one if our dishes well well prepared and left us all wanting more. I had the beer cheese soup to start and it was the perfect temperature, consistency, and taste. So good. I then had a small bit of the bison tacos (I would classify them as burritos, but never mind) and that meat was very unexpectedly good! Will definitely be having those again. Finally I finished with the Filet prepared medium well. Now, I am very, very particular about my meat, so when I say this was amazing, it was amazing in a big way! The service was very personable and even when we politely requested for the AC to be turned down they had no problem (which is a rarity!). The owner was attentive to the going ons and came to our table to make sure everything was okay. Overall, the service is great, food is wonderful with tons of flavour, and the atmosphere is warm. If you're in the area, I would recommend giving this place a try!

This restaurant always provides a fine breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Better than the ol' standard fare of Harrisburg restaurants. However, they need to be careful that the waitress staff doesn't lower their rating. They are in danger of becoming the same uninterested, "So, how are we doing here?" The shining star of Dodge City is Brianna. She speaks to all the customers, even those who she is not attending. She makes an effort to remember their names upon their return. Despite having said this, Dodge City still stands head and shoulders above other Harrisburg restaurants.

Well, this is the last time we will be eating here. We generally have eaten there about every 4-6 months since we saw it on Restaurant Impossible. Tonight was definitely the worst service across the board. First, the loud server that I had hoped to avoid was our server again tonight. Goes by the name of "Sunshine." Evidently a cruel joke for a nickname. She does not pay attention to the order, and definitely does not care about the quality of your meal, the speed of the service, or being attentive. So right away things were not off to a good start. We arrived about 10 minutes early for our 6:30 reservation and was seated promptly. It was pretty busy at this time. She took our drink order and we ordered one appetizer to share and one person ordered the beer soup. A few minutes later she brought our drinks and took our meal order, 2 burgers and a salad. This was right around 6:30. The appetizer came out in less than 10 minutes followed by the soup. During this period several other tables were seated. One by one we noticed their food being delivered. Starting around 6:50 we started watching the clock, then 7, then 7:10. Finally around 7:15 we asked for our order to go. Much of the dining room was empty by that time. At 7:23 our food was brought out in a to-go bag with the check, which we paid. My wife told the server we would not be back, who then offered to get a manager. Her remark was that our reservation was for 6:30 and we were early. Ok, so even if the order would have been placed 10 minutes after being seated, it would have still been over 40 minutes until delivery AND those seated after us would have still gotten their orders well ahead of us. We saw the owner's wife, who is the front end manager, with the server and head into the kitchen. Doug, the owner, came out as we were going out the door (wife didn't come back out of the kitchen) and asked what the problem was. We explained and he said that "he'd investigate!!!" So no offer to even take the soft drinks off the bill. What bothers me the most aside from the really awful waitress was the owner's wife, who is supposedly the front end manager. If you are a preferred customer, she will spend 5-10 minutes at your table. Otherwise, forget it. How could she not notice 3 people sitting with no food for over 40 minutes??? She certainly spent enough time at tables around us, including at least one that was seated 10 minutes after us and had finished their meals as we were leaving with our take-out meals. Nothing like eating a cold salad with what was grilled chicken 45 minutes after it was made. A complete waste of time and money.

Tried here for dinner for the first time tonight. We love Restaurant Impossible but somehow missed this episode. Wow...this place is a gem. We eat out A LOT, and are always looking for a mom and pop place versus the chain restaurants. I started with the cheese soup, it was amazing. Then we each had the cold smoked delmonicos. OH. MY. GOD. Those steaks were off the hook! You tasted the smokiness in every bite. Drinks were fantastic and always filled. Service was incredible. Doug Jr came out of the kitchen to greet us personally and thank us for coming. I'm thinking we found our new favorite restaurant! Can't wait to go back!

Food was delicious, but the service wasn't the best. It took about an hour until our order was taken and another hour for the food to get to the table. Shortly after we finished eating our desserts, they asked us to move so another family could take our table. I would also like to mention that we had made reservations ahead of time.

Have to admit I was drawn to this place after seeing Restaurant Impossible feature the restaurant. Was visiting the area and had to give it a shot for at least the story, but was pleasantly surprised to find out it was pretty good! Went to the bar (which was not shown on the show to my knowledge and did not look too updated) with my friend and ordered two drinks and the braised bison tacos. Presentation was great and the food was even better, very impressed for just an appetizer. The other menu items looked great (especially the hangar steak, an addition from Chef Irvine) but only stayed long enough for the app. Was greeted with a smile by owners Doug and Debbie whom I recognized from the show and chatted about the episode and how the turnout has been since then. They were very friendly and asked us how we are doing and made us feel at home. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive as well. Overall, a very good experience and I'm glad I made the visit. Best of luck in the future to Doug and Debbie and hope their restaurant continues to do well down the road!

Looks kind of hokey, but the menu and cocktails are top notch. Ordered a steak and a few whiskey cocktails and had a great evening. Great prices too.

Been looking forward to trying this place ever since its starring turn in "Restaurant Impossible" and I'm glad to report Dodge City got the goods. The appetizers alone make this place a winner; bison tacos are out of this world, perfectly cooked scallops, always our acid test for any place that features seafood on the menu. Very cool move on the proprietor's part for crediting Robert Irvine' Midas touch in creating the eclectic sauces such as the addictive jalapeno sauce that accompanied some choice calamari. The entrees are also aces; tender and flavorful Rainbow trout, crab cakes actually dominated by crab! The decor manages to be funky and not chintzy and the service is friendly and super-informative.Even the chef came out to say hello. Chef Irvine did a masterful job in turning Dodge City back in the right direction but all praises due the staff and owners for continuing to execute at such a high level.

I finally got to this place, the only place I have been to after the Robert touch. The place is unusual, 'western' for Harrisburg, but OK. There were some interesting touches in the decor. It was comfortable. The place was about 1/4 full for lunch. Service was good and pleasant. As Robert is a Brit I was expecting a really good fish and chips, but decided no when told the cod fish is brought in frozen not battered in the kitchen. I then went with meat loaf and twice cooked potato for $8. I wanted something homemade. A salad or soup would have been an extra $4 which I thought was steep. My food was hot, really hot and I appreciated that. The plate looked a little empty. The potato was nice, the meat loaf was just OK, not a lot of flavor or meat, it was more of a puree of meat. The gravy was from a packet but something was added to give it a little bit of flavor. Dessert was $5, again a little steep for lunch. I wish more places offered a $2 mini dessert, just to finish with something sweet. A place near Ashcombes used to offer a $1.29 mini sundae which was perfect. The bill came to $8, $10 with tip so it was expensive for what it was. Maybe I chose the wrong thing. I am not sure I would go back. Perhaps if I had a coupon or some other special. Too many other places to try.

Not terribly surprised that Dodge City has no reviews, it's that place you drive by a thousand times before taking notice of it. I will say however, I was surprised to find the place had plenty of customers inside and it was very clean and friendly. The restaurant is a family dining experience located right in a busy industrial corridor. Everything is themed like a saloon, and the menu has a tinge of southwest influence but is mostly traditional American favorites. Service was good, food was decent, and the prices were very reasonable.

I was a bit apprehensive confronted with the exterior location but the steaks here are truly delicious and the prices quite reasonable. A better selection of draught beers would be good (where is the Troeggs?) but I will be back with my family.

i went to dodge for the first time this week, so i can't comment on whether it has improved or not. but i would definitely recommend. the food was great and cooked perfectly (got braised bison tacos, burger, and fresh cut fries). i wasn't sure i was going to like the tacos, but they were really fantastic (just wish the sauce on the plate was warm as it seemed like it had just been taken out of the refrigerator). i also appreciated that the owner and chef came by and asked if everything was okay. the waiter was attentive and nice. will be back again...

We had a late lunch at Dodge City and really enjoyed the food. The pulled pork sliders were delicious, tender, sweet, and with a tang from the coleslaw. The walnut salad was a generous portion. Both of those were $8! We also had the beef tenderloin sandwich, which had the most delicious bread-- crusty and hot! The tangled onions on the sandwich were slightly crisp and delicious. The portion of beef tenderloin was also generous. We also had a steak and potato wrap. The steak was thinly shredded in good proportion to the rest of the wrap. The atmosphere was akin to an old western atmosphere. The waitress was friendly and helped with suggestions. She was diligent about making sure our glasses were filled. My only quibble is that we were three to the table and while she made sure I got a set of silverware, she forgot my placemat. I didn't care, however, once the food got there! I subtracted a star since I think there should be more vegetable options on the menu. However, we'll definitely keep this restaurant in mind for the future when we want a meal that sticks to our ribs!

After seeing Restaurant Impossible I wanted to make a trip to Dodge City (which I pass several times per week) and I just didn't do it. Then, after watching the latest update on Restaurant Impossible, I made a point to stop by. Let me just say that my partner and I have dined in some of the finest restaurants on the east coast and we were both very pleased with our meals at Dodge City! From the appetizer to the cocktails to the steaks and sides, there wasn't one thing that we were unhappy with. Please make the trip and keep this local gem busy!

Went here this evening with some family that was visiting from out of town. I was curious to see how things changed since the filming of Kitchen Impossible. I was here twice before and never thought it was that great. I ordered the salmon with potato cake and asparagus. The salmon was too well done, the potato cake was like a big flat tator tot (just less fried), and the asparagus was asparagus. Didn't really care for the dinner rolls either. The presentation was the only good thing about my meal. My girlfriend ordered the bison tacos which she said tasted like someone put meat and gravy on a soft taco shell. The taco shells looked like your average Mission taco shells you buy at the grocery store. If you want good tacos, go around the corner to Tres Hermanos! We were there on a Tuesday from 6:30 to around 8:30 and the place only had about 4 tables the entire time. That doesn't seem like a good dinner crowd to me. There is a sign on their front porch that says they have happy hour drink specials. It doesn't mention any prices and the waitress confirmed they don't have any happy hour food specials. Not that you would even notice driving by because the sign isn't visible from the road. The only thing going for this place in my opinion is that they have a parking lot. That beats trying to find parking downtown Harrisburg.

Lunched here today with a group of friends. Service was excellent and so was our meal. The beer cheese soup was so delicious I wished I'd got a bowl instead of a cup. Oyster sandwich was fresh and plentiful with the added hand cut steak fries. Since I don't eat lunch out very often, I didn't mind the $14 bill for lunch.

So I went here with my cousin after we agreed to go check it out after seeing an episode of Restaurant Impossible. I forgot what happened during the episode, and I don't really remember much at all from it, however I must say I enjoyed my dinner at Dodge City this past Saturday afternoon. We arrived 30 minutes after they opened for dinner. My first thoughts were that I wished I lived closer to Harrisburg because I'd probably have dinner there at least once a week. The decor is cool, and the place is very clean. The staff was friendly, even the Chef told us someone would be there to seat us in just a moment right when we walked in. Our waitress was super friendly and informative on the menu. I had the NY Strip Steak - Cook rare with a side of Yukon Gold mashed potatoes. My cousin had the dinner special - Tilapia and Garlic Shrimp. For an appetizer we went with the Bison Tacos, which were awesome! My steak was cooked to order, and the mashed potatoes were great. My cousin kept raving about his dinner all night long, so I think it's safe to assume he enjoyed it. I really liked this restaurant, and will definitely go again when I'm near Harrisburg. If only the prices could be slightly adjusted. It is a bit expensive for the area.

This is a fine family restaurant. We to dinner their this evening with the Wallace's. I had the Baked Seafood Pie, very good and not too much food. Tina had the Ribeye steak, another winner. Helen had the petite Prime Rib which she said was very tender and perfectly cook. Bob had the Salmon. For dessert I had the Triple Layer Lemon Meringue Pie and Bob had the Caramel Sundae. The server was friendly, polite and helpful without being annoying. I will go back.

I had dinner a few weeks ago at Dodge City as part of a small group. Overall, the meal was very good. I started out with the cheese soup. It was good, but nothing amazing. I also go the balsamic hanger steak with blue cheese orzo.. and it was DELICIOUS! The beef was extremely flavorful and very tender. I'm not a fan of very salty food and this was perfect. The pasta had a yummy blue cheese flavor and included smoked tomatoes. Prices are higher, but good quality beef is too at the grocery store. Service was great, beverages remained full the entire time. Our group stayed for awhile and we definitley did not feel rushed to leave at the end of the night. The owner visited to check on our meals and we very friendly. Will definitely return.

My husband and I went to Harrisburg for the Christmas Show. We wanted to eat dinner at a restaurant instead of getting something to eat at a vendor from the show. We turned to our trusted internet search and found this restaurant, which had great reviews and, to our delight, had been on Restaurant: Impossible. We decided to eat here and boy, were we glad we did. We couldn't decide which appetizer to try so we opted for TWO! We got the calamari, which was some of the best we've had and we loved the dipping sauce. We also ordered the half-moon fried mozzarella, which was divine. For our meals my husband opted for the prime rib sandwich with French fries. He was quite pleased with his and said the fries were very good, as well as the sandwich. He wasn't able to finish his sandwich and insisted upon bringing it home because it was too good not to. I ordered the surf and turf special of the night, which included a ribeye steak, crab cake and horseradish mashed potatoes. Let me begin by saying that the steak was above and beyond the best I've ever had. It literally melted in your mouth. The flavor was amazing and the chef was spot on with the medium rare temperature that I ordered. Many times when ordering steak out I have to order rare in order to get the medium rare I desire. The crab cake was fabulous, with little filler and nice lumps of crab meat. The mashed potatoes were so good that I brought the leftovers home for potato pancakes. We both decided it would be worth the hour trip to Harrisburg JUST to eat at this restaurant. Amazing!!

We were in the area from Annapolis, MD and came upon Dodge City Steakhouse because of Restaurant Impossible TV show. Boy oh boy, we couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. We started with the braised bison tacos, so tender and delicious. We then moved on to a 18 oz. bone in ribeye and cold smoked Delmonico steak cooked to perfection at our preference of medium rare, absolutely fabulous. We finished our experience with a fantastic homemade strawberry shortcake served with ice cream and homemade whipped cream, you'll want to lick the bowl. The owners,Doug and Debbie, graciously visited us during our dining to make sure we were satisfied with our dinner--we couldn't have been more pleased. If you are in the Area, or not in the area, MAKE THE DRIVE, you must dine at Dodge City, you will not be disappointed, we weren't. We will be making another trip and another and another. Thank you!

It's great having an independent steakhouse in the area, let alone a good one. Though my personal favorite is the hanger steak, the filet mignon is to die for. A side of asparagus rounds out any dish, as this is one of the few places to get it right. And the strawberry shortcake (only available in season) is beyond words. If you come looking for cheap overflowing plates of food like you'll get at Applebees or Old Country Buffet, or if you want to watch the game on 45 full-volume TVs, then you're probably going to be disappointed. But if you want some of the best steak you've ever had -- let alone at this price (around $30 per person for appetizer, entree, drinks, and dessert) -- Dodge City is amazing.

Decided to try the place and the new items on the menu. I had the hangar steak and my wife had the tuna steak. The hangar steak was ok as it was cooked like I ordered but there was not a real flavor to it. My wife had the tuna steak and it was cooked a little too raw for her taste. The wait staff was good and the owner was friendly.

The Delmonico steak was tender but flavorless. It looks like it was broiled instead of grilled but didn't have sizzle to it. Their ribs were tender but looked like they had some sauce slapped on them and then microwaved. The beer battered onion rings were different but had a sweet taste, I wouldn't order them again.

Came back on 12/20/12 to meet up with our friends again. Meal was great. Menu has been expanded since last year. My wife had the beer cheese soup which did not disappoint and had the 5 oz. Filet which she was happy with especially that it was cooked medium well as she ordered (a lot of restaurants can't get this right). I had the NY Strip which was excellent and cooked properly. Desserts are the real deal here. My wife went for the cheesecake again and I had the chocolate peanut butter pie.

Agreed with the first reviewer that this place is unprepposessong from the outside. It' doesn't help that the Car Dealer across the street is out of business, giving a real on the skids vibe. However, once you get in all is forgotten, Great Steaks, Yummy Chocolate cookie Sundaes and Ribbon Fries, MMMMM Ribbon Fries, How does a Blak and Decker Drill and a slicer make such delectible potato goodness. Highly Reccomended.

This might just be my new favorite steakhouse. My girlfriend and I stopped in on a weeknight when the sign outside offered a "cold-smoked ribeye steak special." The interior isn't bad, but isn't anything to get excited about either. The menu, on the other hand, while not extensive seemed to offer a few more options than most other local independent places. We both opted for the ribeye, which was just $1 an ounce that evening. I ordered a 12 oz and after my first bite was kicking myself for not getting a 16 oz. This steak was perfectly cooked & seasoned, as was my girlfriends 8 oz., with. Nice sear on the outside, and just a hint of smoked flavor. I had brussel sprouts (probably frozen, but surprisingly good) and a great stuffed backed potato, while my gf had broccoli and lemon parmesan orzo, which was really creamy and good. We were both pretty full but there was a white chocolate creme brûlée dessert special we decided to split, and it was also pretty awesome. It was understandably slow for a weeknight, but the owner stopped by our table and introduced himself and we got to talking about his steaks. The level of smoke and seasoning was just right, and he said he hand-cuts the steaks himself. You could tell he takes real pride in the meat he puts out. This is our first stop here, and we live about an hour away, but we will definitely come back again.

Been to Dodge City on Paxton? Surprisingly good food. I'm a fan of their fried oysters. I had never been there for breakfast (served M-F from 7am), though, until this morning, when I noticed the 'Breakfast Special $2.60' sign. I pulled in to the parking lot on impulse, but I will be going there again some morning soon with joyous intent. The breakfast special of bacon, eggs, and toast was perfectly cooked and ample: fluffy scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, buttery rye. The coffee was strong enough to sustain one, but mellow. The waitresses are exceptionally friendly and efficient, and made me feel as welcome as the regulars surrounding me. Those little teeny ring handles on the coffee cups are a pain, though. I'm just not dainty enough, I guess. Anyway, if you are near Paxton and looking for a great bargain breakfast, Dodge City delivers. Tell them Midtown Moxie sent you.

Would just like to thank Doug and Marty for a wonderful experience yesterday! My wife and I ate there for lunch and dinner and both were great!! The ny strip we had for dinner was really fantastic!! I would say it was the best in the harrisburg area and eaten at them all....Culhanes,Progress Grill, Tavern on the Hill, Devons, Texas roadhouse...etc. We really enjoyed it!!!
