Unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences in quite some time. The food was mediocre at best, but the service was horrendous. Despite several requests to the management for improved service, our waitress failed to wait on us for 45 minutes, delivered our food late and cold and made us wait for another 30 minutes to deliver our bill. I feel bad for the patrons that have to endure this place. Beware before you and best of luck if you do!

Ambiance, superb service, and excellent food. To start, the hostess Joanie was so welcoming and accommodating. I don't just like to go out to eat; I like to have an experience, so I always like to check out the restaurant before I select a seat. Sometimes it upsets the hostess when I don't accept her first table choice. Joanie went out of her way to find us a 'nice' table, then checked back with us to make sure the window blinds were set just right so that we had a great view of the ravine below the restaurant. Our waitress, Nicole, was just as friendly and helpful, as there were so many great choices of meals, we weren't sure which to choose. Overall, one of the most pleasant restaurant experiences we've had in a while. And the food was reasonably priced, too. We'll definitely be back...and we'll bring friends, the highest compliment we can pay to a restaurant. :)

Have not been here in over a year but always try to stop here to eat if traveling up from Pittsburgh to moraine or lake wilhelm. The food quality has significantly dropped. I was told that their chef got moved to one of their other restaurants and it's obvious. I used to make it a point to recommend this place to everyone, now I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, it was that bad. The appetizers, the entrees as well as the service were awful. Sorry to see the demise of such a great restaurant.

We've been to the Log Cabin a number a times and have never been disappointed. I love it in the winter, beside the fireplace with a flavorful cup of soup. It's beautiful on the deck in the spring and fall - we were just there, treated to the woods full of fireflies. And it's screened in, so the firefly's buddies cannot get in! Broccoli soup is so good, especilly on a damp summer night. Angel Onion sounds very like a blooming onion from you-know-where, but beware, it is a hard-to-eat basket of onion strings, deep fried. Hubs swears by the Chicken Diablo and It was really pretty. Yes, pretty - campanelle pasta is a most favored shape in our family. Friend had the meatloaf: manly with gravy. The atmosphere is very cabiny and you will be comfortable immediately. The staff is always above par (gotta be, the place is too busy for any slack). We love it here and you will, too - there's a reason the parking lot is so big!

Had a great experience at this place with my husband and his family. They dont take reservations but we got a few seats at the bar and got beers and a few appetizers to ease our hungry appetites: Breaded Zucchini and the spinach artichoke dip (both were really good). We enjoyed the atmosphere and had a great time and about 45 minutes later we got our big booth in the back. Server was attentive, food was awesome and the prices were very reasonable. They do large portions so come hungry!

Parking lot was so full I almost passed it by thinking I would have to wait.... but I went in anyway and there was space. Service was prompt and neighborly. I had the meatloaf sandwich. I could've had another meatloaf sandwich - and another. I will return when I am in the area and try some of the other features. BTW - I was surprised to see such a nice and will stocked bar.

This place has a variety of traditional American food. I ate here multiple times in the last year or so and have never been disappointed with my meal. The steak salad is good and I was pleased with the beer battered shrimp. I would go again and recommend if you are in the area. Ask to sit in the back if they aren't too busy as they have a nice view with a wall of windows overlooking a small valley.

Love this place. I'm biased because I live about 2 miles from here so I can come down anytime I like ... And I like a lot. The atmosphere here is just warm and inviting. I've never once had bad service, and quite honestly never had what I would consider a bad meal here. Whatever you're hungry for, the menu affords pretty much something for everyone. My biggest suggestion though is desert. Their peanut butter pie is so freaking good, I sometimes just buy an entire pie. Yes, some would call me peaNUTTY myself for spending $20 on a pie but you can freeze it and frozen peanut butter pie is just crackalicious!!!! If you live even remotely close or are looking for someplace warm and relaxing, with good food and service, The log Cabin delivers!

Excellent service and food. Ordered prime rib rare. It was served as ordered. Ranks as one of the best that I have ever had. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal.

From its inception we have been customers there and have always been critics to any changes that have been made. Whether it be new owners or a change in the menu, there has been nothing that would keep us from coming back. I will always remember the great times, and the friends we have made there, both customers and employees. That being said "the cabin" invites you to a great "Cheers" type, warm atmosphere. Walk in the front door and the bar beckons you to sit down and relax and yes the bartenders really do know your name ,whether its your first or 100th time. Week-ends can get a little busy and you might have to stand for a while, but you'll enjoy making new friends. Wait times for a table can be 45 min to an hour during busy times. You have choices of dining venue: "The Cabin", the original 1800's structure , the enclosed porch that offers great views as you sit amongst the tree tops, and the covered out door deck is the ultimate in outdoor dining. Of course the bar and adjacent tables are always open for that quick app or burger. Ok, the food and service over the past 20 some years has been mostly steady. Of course new employees and chefs will always affect your experience so try not to base your return on one visit. For instance the Prime Rib Salad that my wife ordered last night has increased in price from 7.99 to 12.99. Plate size has been reduced along with the "prime rib"? and had a boatload of red onion. Far from what it used to be but not enough to say no more Cabin. Oh yeah, food, Prime Rib "blackened", mine last night was spot on along with the baked sweet potato with the cinnamon butter , Brew City Burger, "depending on chef", any hamburger , Big John Wedge, Country Fried Chicken ,Deep Fried Zucchini, Peanut Butter Pie or anything on the dessert tray should put you into a food coma! Did I say Prime Rib, see if they have a "Big John Cut"! Say Goodnight ! Update: Just lost a close and dear friend of "The Cabin" Big John Alexander, just one of many people that made going there memorable and fun!

My husband and I have eaten here twice in the last two weeks. The food was mediocre at best. The place is beautiful but that doesn't make the food great. We will not return. I'm giving 1 star for the beautiful restaurant.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I am never disappointed with the food I order. I like the spinach salad with red opinions. I usually order the prime rib as it is always delicious!

Everytime you go here you know your going to be getting a great meal. From all of us locals this one place is tops. Try the NY Pretzels with chocolate sauce. Yummy

Nice atmosphere. Log cabin eatery with nice views even in winter with white snow falling. Started with the pierogi "nachos" which were topped with cheese from a can. (Skip this.) the duchess chicken was excellent. Raspberry cheesecake was definetly home made as it had a "whole grain type" crust. Next time will try the Mississippi mud pie. Yes - there will be a next time. Overall, a good place to stop while doing a drive in the country.

Pleasant atmosphere with a dining room overlooking greenery. The Reuben I had was delicious. My four year old enjoyed the mini corndogs he ordered. Service was friendly and prompt. I will be returning!

After years of enjoying this place, we were definitely disappointed in the menu, food presentation and service. Ordered scallop appetizer that was on the special menu. They were definitely frozen and sauce was out of a jar. The prime rib was too rare (he asked for medium) and the meat just came on a plate; no side; not even a sprig of a herb decoration. While we were in the bar, we overheard the manager boasting about a slow smoked pork loin covered in mustard and fresh herbs. Sounded great. NOT! Even close. A generous slice of pork was delivered looking grey, on a plate with a few tablespoons of risotto. There was little flavor; definitely not smoked! The menu is not the same. More sandwiches with fries. The old fashioed fried chicken and steaks are no longer there. Maybe this is why there was barely a wait at 6:30 on a Saturday night. Doubt we will go back! Will go to The Springfield instead.

Have to give it 2 stars on this disappointing visit. The mushroom flatbread was not burnt but was way beyond done. Plus it lacked flavor. The Tavern dip halfwich was good but was more like a quarterwich. Teeny tiny. Maybe a little over 2 inches of sandwich. Service was spotty too. On the upside my wife's sea bass was very good, according to her.

Love this place! Moved to town and got the local take on where to go for good eats. This was by far one of the highest and most frequently recommended. I usually have their mussels appetizer which when ordered with a side of pasta is a meal. The mussels are tastey & plentiful in a white wine, garlic and pepper sauce with a slight spicey bite. The prime rib dip is a wonderful offering too. Their bottled $1 Yuengling Light special is awesome and their craft beer list is extensive and includes tastey seasonal beers. The wait to get in well worth it. And should you choose to eat at the bar - Jamie the bartender on weekends is phenomenal and makes a spot-on mixed drink and offers plenty of wit & a smile on delivery of it! And on a random Friday eve at the bar, we had the pleasure of meeting the local stately & dapper gentleman who was the hunter who mounted much of the game that hangs in the original portion of the restaurant. He is pictured as a younger man under each of his mounts and is friendly in sharing local history. Their Peanut Butter Pie and the Raspberry pie are homemade, rich and flavorful.

Is there a "no stars" or "negative stars" option on Yelp? If so, this place has earned that distinction. Excuse my ignorance as I could not find either and am FORCED to give it one whole star. We arrived at 11:15 am on a Saturday. This place is always packed when we drive by so we decided to stop in for a quick lunch. The place was already packed upon our arrival and the people in front of us were attempting to seat nine (9) people!!! Anyway, we were seated after a short wait, but the experience quickly went downhill from there. We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer, which our server gushed were "soo good!" I kept my lunch simple and ordered the apple, pecan, and blue cheese salad while my fiancé ordered the fried pork chop with the French onion soup. Upon the calamaris arrival, I immediately suspected they were from a box and once I tasted it my suspicions were confirmed. Soggy with thick, greasy breading the rubbery little rings even left a slightly fishy after taste in your mouth. Our entrees arrived in a timely manner but were equally disturbing in both appearance and taste. My salad's "raspberry vinaigrette" was a bright red to only be compared with jello. As it lay think across my apple slices, wilted mixed greens, and pecans an even more horrifying component of my salad revealed itself. The blue cheese crumbles (I use this term as lightly as the Log Cabin Inn) were yellow in color and would bounce lightly off of the prongs of my fork. Needless to say, I took two bites and gave up on my mid-day meal. My fiancé also took two bites of his pork chop, which he related to me was a greasy mess. The French onion soup was warm and had a sufficient number of onions to properly qualify it as French onion soup, but it lacked any special characteristics. In short my dear friends, we will not be returning, not now not ever.

The BEST Prime Rib ever! Seriously, every time we visit I try to get something else, and I never end up doing it because it is so fantastic! I will say, I'm not a fan of the sante fe steak salad that has the "prime rib" on it. I had it once and it wasn't the prime rib at all, it was just some regular sliced steak. I was bummed. But the prime rib itself is definitely worth the trip. I also adore the lobster mac and cheese. They have it as a special occasionally and if it's on the menu when you visit, I can't recommend it enough! We also really enjoy big john's wedge salad, and their house salad with the vidalia (sp) vinaigrette is fantastic. The Big Fish sandwich is HUGE and awesome. The sloppy joe was really good according to my grandmother. This restaurant is right down the road from us, so there isn't much on the menu that we haven't tried. The dutchess chicken, the mediterranean pasta, the alexandra chicken, and the country fried chicken are all big hits with our friends and family. They run specials on a daily basis that are always a hit. The service is always very friendly and prompt. The decor is warm and inviting, very much like a log cabin with great views of the woods behind the restaurant. I love sitting on the deck on a nice afternoon or evening! It's worth the drive!

I went here with a small group (six total) after shopping. It was not very busy. That being said the service was SLOW. After being seated and placing our drink and appetizer order it took 20 minutes for our waitress to bring our drinks. The fried zucchini was soggy and basically just mushy breading since the zucchini was nearly completely cooked out of it. I was not very hungry and planning an earlier dinner date later that day so I only ordered a caesar salad and an order of fries. The lettuce in my salad was really soggy, and I only got four croutons in the entire thing. The fries were okay, but I had to wait a while to get ketchup. Everyone else ordered pasta dishes. The waitress messed up the drinks twice while re-filling them- she didn't bother to ask what kind of tea people were drinking. She just refilled them. I had to ask twice to get more water. She also brought out desserts even though none of us were interested in them- we just wanted our check. Over all, the visit took almost 3 hours- I was not impressed. It was not that busy, and our orders were not complicated enough to warrant that. I wish I would have skipped lunch and spent my time doing other things. I will not be back.

I ate here yesterday. Overall it was nice. I like the atmosphere, it was casual and comfortable, had that log cabin feel and near the window overlooked lush greenery. The staff was well organized, and the server very friendly. We had the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer. Overall, it was okay. Not bad, but I have had better. It was fresh, but it was missing something....maybe more garlic, lemon or salt, or all three...not too sure. As an entree I had the chicken diablo which is a marinara pasta meal with rotini, chicken breast and andouille sausage. I liked it fine. It wasn't fancy, but it was more than passable. It came with a garden salad, and a balsamic vinaigrette dressing which I selected. I enjoyed it. My mother's chicken breast was overcooked. We shared the special dessert which was banana cream pie. It came on a chocolate cookie dough, and was layered with fresh bananas and topped with cream and a chocolate drizzle with a flavor that resembled amaretto. We shared it and were both very full with lots of food to take home. I would eat there again and try different things.

We have been here twice now, and both times, I have wished we were able to go more! Log Cabin Inn is a bit out of the way, but when you're coming from a nice hike at McConnell's Mill or a trip to the Big Butler Fair, it's right on the way back to the city. They have a great waitstaff, and a very friendly atmosphere in general. In the summer, you can sit out on their covered wooden deck and enjoy the feeling of being in the woods while still having all your needs taken care of by your server. We had the pleasure of dining out on the deck on the night the Buccos went up into first place in the division, so not only did we enjoy their great menu, but a fabulous baseball game on one of the big TVs as well! They do have a specials menu that rotates and changes daily, so be sure to check that out to see what's in season. We've been once in the fall, and once in the summer, so it's been nice to try out different seasonal dishes. On our most recent visit, we started with the ahi tuna appetizer (one of the day's specials), which was just incredible. It was so tender you barely needed a knife to cut it, and it came with a ginger/sesame dressing, plus soy dipping sauce. The non-sandwich entrees also come with a bread basket. These rolls are served hot and fresh, and they come with whipped butter. Heavenly! I got the cornmeal crusted catfish on our latest visit, and it was so good. The cornmeal added just the tiniest crunch, and it came with a pat of lemon-butter on top, which melted over the hot filet and matched the flavors better than any tartar sauce could ever dream! I got the seasoned roasted red potatoes on the side, and a side salad with their yummy Italian dressing (a good dipping side for the rolls, as well!). My husband got one of the burgers, and it was juicy and delicious, cooked to just-the-right-amount-of-pink as he requested. His burger came with a large side of fries and sauteed mushrooms. We loved our dinner so much that we decided to splurge on a dessert, and boy are we glad we did! We got the chocolate lava cake, and it was like eating a brownie that had just come out of the oven and was still soft and juicy in the middle. Soooo good! We ordered coffee with our dessert, and it came out in these huge, cute Log Cabin Inn mugs. I thought that was a nice touch! Even if you sit indoors, the atmosphere is incredibly inviting, and there are so many neat little rustic charms (like your drinks being served in mason jars). Oh, and the prices are unbeatable! For two entrees, an appetizer, a couple of beers, dessert, and coffee, we were under $40! I always thought Iron Bridge Inn would be my favorite of this family of restaurants, but after our last two visits to Log Cabin Inn, I think it is creeping into the top spot! Can't wait to pop in for lunch after our next hiking excursion. :)

I've eaten there three times now and I don't see what all the hoopla is about, The meat quality is at most grocery store choice grade, always overcooked a level or two, and neither tender nor flavorful. And the sides I had were unmemorable. The romantic atmosphere? Robert Irvine would be orgasmic with his sledgehammer in there. Yes, the view down the ravine out back is lovely but the restaurant is old, dark, dank, and stale. Three times for me is enough.

In the middle of nowhere, Log Cabin Inn consistently provides great quality and large portions every time. The decor and ambiance is exactly what you'd imagine from reading the restaurant name. All wooden furniture and many stuffed animal heads hanging from the walls. No tablecloth but linen napkins. You do not need to dress up. The menu mainly features meat options but there are some seafood, pasta, sandwich, burger choices as well. Full bar and wine options. Appetizer: Cabin Combo has breaded zucchini, stuffed mushrooms, and stuffed peppers. The zucchini could have been cut a little thicker for my liking, but the breading was light enough and had good seasoning. The mushrooms were standard. However, the stuffed peppers were my favorite -- very spicy. The complimentary bread must also be noted. Hot and pillow-y soft, the rolls are fantastic. Aside from the main menu, the daily specials are always my go-to. The baby back ribs are incredible. The meat falls off the bone with one glance and there is a surprising amount of meat. $20 for a full rack for this quality is a very good deal in my eyes. Another consistent favorite is the prime rib. Available in 12/16/24 ounces, the prime rib is as good as it gets. It is nearly all meat, unlike some other places (Pete Miller's in Evanston) that cheat you with excessive fat. Desserts are all made on-site but are a bit too sweet. The coconut pie is the only one that is not too rich. A cup of milk with the desserts would be perfect. Although it's quite a bit out of the way and almost always requires a wait, Log Cabin Inn is worth it.

I love this restaurant group but I was disappointed. It wasn't bad, but Ive had better. We had country fried steak. The steak was bland but the pepper in the gravy was over powering

I went here with a group of friends. The wait wasn't bad considering the number of people we had and that is was a weekend. I had a burger that I really enjoyed. I like the rustic atmosphere and the flow from the dining to the bar. The place was a bit noisy as others have noted but I think it went right along with the rest of the place. We had great service and everyone enjoyed their meals. We skipped dessert but were very tempted by their variety of options. I will go back for sure. Recommended.

My husband's work has brought him to the Wexford area occasionally the past few years and I've always heard great things from him and his colleagues about this place. Last week, I was able to sample it w/him for myself. Two thumbs up! We were here on a Monday evening and it was busy, but not super crowded (my husband said it was the least busy he's ever seen it). We were seated right away. As we approached our table, I initially thought, ugh, a two top, but it turned out to have plenty of space. That's also something I noticed in watching the room, is space management was well designed. There is plenty of room between tables for easy movement. Craft beer on tap, which is always a plus, so I was already digging this place. I ordered crab legs (outstanding) and my husband ordered a steak (just ok, not the best ever). All of the sides were great, though the tomatoes in the salad should not have been served. Service was top notch. Attentive, w/out being annoying, and super positive from the hostess, to the server, to the busboy. We got the impression they were all happy to work here. We later discovered this is one of the restaurants that's part of the Springfield Restaurant Group. As a general rule, we're not big fans of "chains" (though these aren't a chain, sometimes restaurant group restaurants become a bit chainish), but we will go out of our way to eat at more. They nail it.

Rustic and quaint, the Log Cabin Inn is a mainstay of the Harmony/Zelienople area, about 45 minutes north of Pittsburgh. Locals usually go there for a nice dinner out, and it wasn't uncommon for kids at my high school to choose the Log Cabin for dinner before homecoming or prom. The last time I was there was for dinner with my father several years ago, but I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that the quality of food and service hasn't taken a nose dive since then. The food is excellent, but isn't particularly adventurous. Then again, would you expect it to be when the entire place is themed after a log cabin? You can get various chicken and sefood dishes, pasta, salads, beef, and all of the desserts are made in house. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait if you come on a weekend--it's very popular with the locals. But I'd say it's worth it.

This is my favorite local restaurant. The food, bar, and service is always outstanding. The fried zucchini is wonderful, ask for the horseradish sauce along with the marinara. So good! I usually get a filet, which is fire grilled and always perfectly done. The salads are delicious, French onion soup is superb, and the dinner rolls are hot and fluffy. The bar is very cool too. Lots of people hang out there, and it's always a friendly crowd. The dessert menu is incredible, try the peanut butter pie. There is usually a bit of a wait as the other reviews state, so plan on having a pint while you wait.

The Log Cabin Inn is just north of Cranberry Township on Rt. 19, just 5 minutes north of downtown Zelienople. It's very rural and the restaurant is rustic, built around a 160 year old cabin. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing. I especially love to go here in the Fall. There is usually a bit of a wait for a table. But me and my boyfriend discovered recently that if you go after 8:00 pm, you get right in. Jim had prime rib, which they are famous for. He had it drowned in sauteed mushrooms and onions. It was REALLY good. I had Chesapeake crab cakes, which were yummy. They have fabulous sides, Jim had a baked potato and I had a huge sweet potato. For dessert, we shared an upside down apple pecan pie, alamode. It was fantastic. It's a great place for a romantic dinner.

I've ate at the Log Cabin quite a few times since moving here 5 years ago. I have never had a bad meal. I like the atmosphere. Sometimes it can get noisy with families bringing in their little kids though. Don't get cosmopolitan though! It was terrible!

By far my husband and i's favorite local restaurant. I am hard to please but absolutely LOVE their steak salad served Pittsburgh style with french fries and there own HOMEMADE Ranch dressing which is AWESOME!! also love their Fench onion soup and the stuffed banana peppers. you will wait quite a bit on the weekends b/c this is a popular local restaurant they do not accept reservations so be prepared to wait. but believe me it is worth it!! VERY reasonably priced in fact my favorite (steak salad) is only 9.99!!! Enjoy!!

Food and service was ok, I felt like the pears on my salad were a bit stale... They seemed soggy and tasteless - they were also from a can and not fresh from a tree. However the chicken and rest of the salad was fine. Everyone else seemed to think their meals were ok - not top notch, but decent. We've eaten here two years ago, I remember it being much better the first time. Had the pears tasted fresher and not been from a can, I would have given this place 4 stars. I would go again provided there are no better options in the area.
