My hubby & I went out Sunday for breakfast. We wanted to try the Starlight Diner but, the place was packed. We came back the next day & there was still a pretty good crowd. I am so glad that we came back! My husband ordered two eggs with hashbrowns, corned beef hash & a slice of ham. It was a lot of food! I had the Belgian waffle with fresh strawberries. My waffle was crisp on the outside & light & fluffy on the inside. Our food came in about 5 minutes, I kid you not. It was hot, it was good & there was plenty of it. My coffee cup was never empty.Wonderful service all around. Best of all, our breakfast only cost us $10! I do not think you can even get breakfast at McDonald's for that. Everything was just wonderful! I can not wait to try them for dinner!

I was pretty disappointed eating a late evening dinner here. This appears to be a repurposed Perkins restaurant. Some places should remain closed, harsh words but the food here was subpar at best. The bacon cheese burger my date ordered was a frozen patty. I ordered eggs, no potatoes, bacon, grits and rye toast. I got the potatoes I didn't order. The rye toast was undone and mushy. The grits were lumpy and watery. Another table mate ordered the steak and shrimp. Tiny steak and two medium fried shrimp. In all 5 people are dinner / breakfast and the total came to $52.40. There in lies the problem. Quality sacrificed for cost. Cheap ingredients equals poor quality food and a poor experience. My suggestion is to increase quality by purchasing better food and you'd probably have more repeat business and happier customers. Meh' at best.

Our first visit to the Starlight now that we have family living nearby. Late on a Sunday afternoon, trying to find a place for an early dinner before the long ride back home, we decided on diner food at the Starlight. We ordered two senior specials: Grilled marinated chicken and the turkey platter. We were served two hot, large, selections with a small salad and two veg. included with each dish. This was a lot of food for a very reasonable price. Good basic fare at a decent price, not a bad deal at all. Beats a chain restaurant anytime.

Really displeased with the Customer Service, quality and value of the food, and the general attitude of this diner. After several visits, I figured it was time to post a review, as each visit was a confirmation of the initial experience. And not that the patrons are a reflection of the diner management or even that the management has any influence on the patrons and their behavior, but for my interracial family, we have been greeted repeatedly with rude stares, nasty looks, and turned up noses. To the extent that our son has asked, "why does everyone have a mean look on their face?" and "why do people turn their heads and look away, when I catch them staring at me, and I give them a smile?" Hmm. I wonder. Perhaps the patronage is more indicative of the population in the area, than the restaurant, but it's awful chilly in there, no matter what the temps are outside, if you catch my drift! Though the decor is charming, and the building airy and open - with a big plus for ambiance and environment of the physical structure of the building: we were disappointed with the prices, portion sizes, and the taste of the food, from breakfast to lunch/dinner fare. Perkins is right around the corner, and while no diner, we normally get decent food, a decent quantity of it, for a decent price. Just saying. I don't foresee returning to this diner, and that's perfectly ok with our family.

Food is poor taste, dry, and Blane. The service was even poorer. I was served water when they where cleaning the fire hydrants, my water tasted like river water. Waitress only came by to offer desert, had to hunt for the waitress just so I could pay my check, and it wasn't even busy, I even had two waitress for my table and it was just my wife and I. This is a hot spot for older people. But the food was bad, won't ever go back!

Disappointing food. I gave this place a shot on several different occasions and its just not for me. Usually get dirty dishes and silverware. The quality of the food is poor for the breakfast items. The waitress staff is nice and attentive. Will not be returning.

I was not impressed. The service was lacking and the food was bland. I ordered the waffles with strawberries. Based on the menus description and picture I was expecting waffles with sliced and whole strawberries on top, that was not the case. It was drenched in strawberry syrup with a few bits of mushy strawberries. I haven't been back and don't plan on it.

Run of the mill diner. It's cheap, if that's what you are looking for. There are several other diners in the area that deliver better food and service.

Sorry to say, the service was terrible, (she said she was having a bad day), the food was very bland, bad texture ham, cold mashed potatoes, au jus was not au jus, even when we complained and said we would never return nothing was done to make it right. We weren't the only ones unhappy, the guy at the next table sent his steak back 2 times, then refused it, they put it in a box and made him pay his bill. This was a Sunday at 5pm. Save yourself, eat somewhere, anywhere else.

My husband and I go to Starlight about 3 or 4 times a month. There are a few waitresses that are so-so, but for the most part the staff is very nice and very attentive, including management. Their food is typical diner food, but they do have the best chipped beef in Hanover and a more extensive menu than most places. Prices are awesome and we can usually eat for about $17.00. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!

This was our first visit to the Starlight. Stopped for breakfast - but, it was actually lunch time by the time we made it there. But, we still opted for breakfast - which is served all day (always a plus for us). Service was fast and very good. Our coffee cup was never empty. The server was very attentive & friendly. Food was pretty good. It wasn't overly creative...but, a good basic breakfast - hot, food was as we ordered, and tasty. We both got the same breakfast with slightly different components. The Starlight Special include pancakes, eggs, meat, and home fries. We were able to choose blueberry pancakes and added a side of sausage gravy (it was tasty...not as good as my aunt from OK used to make - but, not bad). Overall - a nice place, good service, prices were fairly reasonable and food was good. Would definitely stop back again and try other menu items.

Clean. Quick. No wait for seating, even for large parties (at least on weekdays). Decent breakfasts. Nothing special, but certainly edible and filling. Cheap too. Family friendly. We were in town visiting family nearby, and came here twice for breakfast.

This place is great for lunch... always clean, quick service. They have your typical diner food (without looking like a diner) and more. Pretty big menu, with a lot of different options. Breakfast is served all day.

To start, the atmosphere was much nicer on the inside then the outside would have you believe. My wife an I were seated and with in a few moments a pleasant waitress came over to greet us. She took our drink orders and left. When she came back my wife asked if the had real maple syrup available. Her answer was " it comes in a bottle." well that changes everything. Did she think we wanted her to tap a tree for syrup and bring it to us right there on the spot? No shit it comes in a bottle. My wife ordered per usual some plate she couldn't finish. Eggs, pancakes, hash browns and bacon. That was ok, nothing special. I ordered a Belgian waffle with strawberries. DO NOT GO BY THE PICTURES!!!!! As my wife later pointed out to me the pictures are merely suggestions of how the product will look. You know like McDonalds. Now I wasn't expecting fresh picked berries from that morning. I expected a strawberry with some syrup mixture. What I got was a waffle layered in a gelatinous mass of red goo that drowned out any taste of waffle and replaced it with a processed diabetic coma. It was terrible. I scraped as much off as possible and yet there still was probably two cups worth hanging on. I must have scraped off a bowl and a half of that shit. Again terrible. Cant say enough dont get the waffle with fruit. Overall place was nice, clean looking. The staff was while dense, very nice. Food kinda sucked but was relatively cheap.

Nice ambiance for a diner, but mostly typical, semi-bland diner food. Vegetarian options are lacking.

My Wife and I dined here twice while staying in Hanover PA and the menu was very large, food hot and plenty of it plus we were waited on both times by Vanessa and could not have had a better waitress.

Breakfast was not bad. Really delicious French toast balanced by extremely salty bacon and runny eggs (ordered over medium). Very pleasant young waitress, attentive and apologetic when she told me if I wanted milk or cream with my tea there would be an extra charge. I would go back for the French toast. Place was full of regulars , and that's always a good sign.

I was here for the first time this morning due to not having power at are home. Hostess was very patient while my son explained (in detail) why we were there. Waitress was very friendly. Service was quick and prices low. Food was excellent.
