If you order the special they refuse to put the fries on a separate plate, but if you ask for a plate they will give you one. The manager was ignorant. The special says it is served with fries. Been there plenty of times before and have ordered this with no problem but we won't be going back due to the idiot of a manager.

Very good food at very fair prices - a great family business. Highly recommended.

Very clean, fast service, and the hot dogs are truly special. The buns are fresh and come out hot. They chop the onions up so small that they melt in your mouth. The actual hot dogs are top choice. I would make a special trip to eat here again.

This is a staple in Hanover. They have two locations but the one on Dart drive is the one I frequent. The hotdog special with everything is what most people order. It comes with two hotdogs(mustard, onions, & chili sauce) and fries. I'm not a fan of the hotdog. I'm not a fan of any type of hotdog for that matter. I go for the other menu items. I get the special but substitute it with cheese burgers with only chili sauce and chili sauce with my fries. Just an FYI even the cheese burgers come on a hotdog bun. They have a delicious breakfast menu also. Its a diner style restaurant. They are open everyday except Sundays. The food is always hot and quick and they have a drive-up window if you called your order in. Only draw back is if you get your food with "everything" you will smell like an onion all day.

Not bad. Apparently you have to ask for onions. Sauce was a bit sweet, but good. I liked the bun being more hoagie-like and the snap of the dog. The napkins are pitiful.

Love this place best hot dogs and fries. Only complaint is it's a little expensive for the hot dogs. Food is top of the line.

My favorite hot dog shop anywhere. Every summer when I would visit my grandma this would be one of our first stops. I always get the 2 chili dog and fry special. If your a hot dog fan this place is heaven. Great chili lots of fine diced onions and some mustard. Beware that you will smell of onions after you leave here.

Please never change or close! Oh god, now I want to drive 30 minutes for the 2 dogs with everything and gravy fries. The smell of onions lingers like a cheap prostitute. I think I am drooling on my self.

I agree with Megan N, if you're giving this place a bad review, you are missing the boat. It is a hot dog shop. It is a local landmark. It is cheap. "It is what it is". I love the dogs here, always have. I also agree with Megan, as good as it is I try not to eat it very often. I prefer to get take out, I've only eaten in the restaurant once or twice. The onion aroma will stick with you. The locals know that if you plan on going to Famous, you need to make it your last stop before heading home. Although I have no proof myself, I've heard that getting two dogs with everything and an order of fries is a great hangover cure. Again, this is just something that I've heard, I have no actual proof (wink, wink).

Stopped in on a whim....very glad we did. Very unique take on fast food and hot dogs. The place is what it is....a hot dog joint. Don't go expecting anything different and you won't be disappointed. I got the special 2 dogs with chili sauce and cheese and a side of fries, my wife got the hot dog and hamburger with fries special. Both were very good, the chili sauce was very good. One tip....unless you REALLY like onions, you might want to order them on the side, there is literally a handful of chopped onions on ever dog.

I love the Famous, two dogs loaded (onions, chili, mustard) and fries is the ticket. It's definitely not fancy and you don't want to spend time around anyone who hasn't gone in there with you because the onions will stick with you the rest of the day. Though it's my favorite hot dog shop in the world. I live in North Carolina now but grew up in the area and it's awesome and I stop every time I go through Hanover.

Back in the day (80's and 90's) when the original brothers owned this place, the food was good, greasy and enjoyable (but, the smell of onions lingered on you all day). The hot dogs with chili, onions, and mustard are the draw to this place but its not the same as it used to be. Most hot dogs places now offer a variety of toppings and more flavor. The place is popular with the locals, but when I have gone back for a bit of nostalgia, there is little to be found (or tasted).

I don't care what anyone says, I love this place.. it's not fine dining by any stretch of the imagination. It's a hot dog shop.. and I think the rest of the reviews on the place are a little harsh. Take it for what it is. You have to get the chili fries, I love em'. This place will clog your arteries though, so I try not to eat it too often :)

Crowded, we waited for a table, but not too long. Staff was efficient and nice. I tried a chili dog and a chili-dog-burger. They were ok. I was hungry. The more disturbing part was that the person I went with kept talking about all the times we'd been there before, even though it was my first time. Just like fight Club, I wasn't sure if I was dreaming or awake. Does the FHW Inc put some mind altering substances in the food?

Definitely a Hanover staple. Something about a split and grilled hot dog is just plain awesome. I don't think I've ever ordered anything other than the 'special' (two dogs, burgers, or one of each with a huge portion of fries). I get the dogs with 'everything' (mustard, chili, and a massive pile of raw minced onions). I'd definitely recommend gravy for your fries too, it's a nice addition. Tom W is spot on about the onion aroma; it will linger on you for hours afterward and possibly cause your friends or family members to bitch about it, but it's completely worth it.

A fun place to go when we visit "home" from Texas. All the chili/onions you could hope to eat. Beware, you will smell like this place for hours after you leave!
