A lot of the dishes here are solid, but it seems to depend on the night of the week. I've had take out be really yummy and I've had it leave me disappointed. The sushi is great though, the best in the area. And their noodle dishes are a nice break from the typical limited offerings through Hanover. Just know you might have one of those odd nights with a not as good chef working ;)

Overview: Nice menu with some more unusual options that you don't always find at an Asian restaurant. Food: The sushi here is probably the best to be found in Hanover. I also enjoy their entrees. The food is fresh and served quickly. The prices are a bit high in my opinion, but the food is of good quality. Recommend: I recommend their spicy salmon roll, as well as the tamago nigiri. The drunken noodles and Singapore mei fun are also very good options. Atmosphere: I really love the interior of this restaurant. It has a sleek, modern feel. I wish it were a little brighter, but it has always been clean. Service: The staff friendly and efficient.

What let down... our second visit to this restaurant was completely different experience. Ordered shrimp Pad Thai and it was probably the worst I have had. The noodles were pasty and dry, there were no bean sprouts in the dish nor much of anything else. It contained 6 nice sized shrimp but even they were bland. 6 spring rolls had good flavor, but we're extremely oily. We also ordered a Cantonese chow mein that was slightly better, but also dry and lacking vegetables. Cooks night off? Not an experience I would repeat for $55.00.

Quite a surprise to find this place in rural PA. My party ordered mostly thai style dishes and a mei fun type dish. Everything was good and the wait staff was very attentive.

Modern decor. Decent sized menu offering various Asian dishes. Good service and good food. The only complaint was the serving size. I am not saying I need a mountain of food, just wasn't expecting the serving size I got. Over all, I liked this place and would go back again. Thanks for reading my review. This review is based off of my personal opinion and experience.

Very disappointing. Wonton soup was fair. Dim Sum was good. Peking Duck was dry and bland. The presentation of the food is lovely but the food lacks flavor.

I eat here probably twice a week and it has never disappointed me. I've tried many things on the menu from sushi, fried rice, sizzling steak, and drunken noodles. The service is always prompt and friendly. It is one of the best restaurants in Hanover.

Blue Koi is God's gift to the town of Hanover. For a city girl, I would consider Hanover the middle of nowhere, and definitely not a foodie town. As I Yelped "dinner" near "Hanover, PA" this was the result that came up with the most # of reviews (11!) ahahaha. If that's not an indicator of the lack of foodies here, I don't know what is. My dinner experience at Blue Koi was great! First of all, it was my date time with God reading Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis so that was really convicting. (Though technically I guess its a date with Satan, but learning about myself and God through that.) Food wise, the menu was filled with a variety of Asian food - Japanese (sushi rolls), Thai (curries, noodles), and Chinese (sweet and sour chicken). Appetizer: Roti Canai, a Malaysian fluffy/crispy pancake that you can tear and dip into curry sauce. MY ALL TIME FAVORITE appetizer. Entree: Green Jade Specialty Roll - rice roll filled with salmon and avocado, topped with a thick layer of crunchy spicy salmon, covered with slices of kiwi. Let me tell you, that crunch was magical... it was the perfect touch to break through the richness of the salmon and avocado. Dessert: Mochi Ice cream - red bean and mango ice cream wrapped in gluttinous rice cake. And it was plated so beautifully. Overall, it was a fantastic dinner experience - the best one in Hanover yet. All the other restaurants have a bunch of senior citizens... apparently all the beautiful young people of Hanover were at Blue Koi this whole time!

Expenisve for the amount you get, sushi is only okay, the service was horrible. I'd rather drive an hour for great sushi and great service than ever go here again.

I'm in love. Do not judge this restaurant by it's exterior. Blue Koi is located in a shopping center... but wow. Once you walk inside, the place gives off a totally different vibe. Very well put together...gorgeous interior, dim lighting... relaxing. Comfy booths with pretty decorative pillows on the cushions. The bathrooms were extremely clean, and gorgeous (as far as restrooms go). They put rocks in their sinks to give it a more serene look... I thought this was a nice touch. I came into the restaurant around 1:00. My boyfriend and I were the only ones in the restaurant. I feel like this place should definitely do more business. Easily the best asian restaurant in town, by far. I ordered 3 rolls for lunch, I always pick safe choices with sushi to judge the place on (california, spicy california, spicy tuna...hard to mess these up). My boyfriend had the teriyaki chicken. The lunch combo of sushi comes with miso soup. We also ordered the dumpling appetizer. EVERYTHING was great. It's hard to sell my boyfriend on a sushi joint, but he loved this place too. Also, I wanted to add... that you can tell this place is really picky about their presentation. My plate looked so pretty I had to take a picture of it, and post it :) I will be back, without a doubt. And next time, I'm trying that green jade special roll. Looks delicious!

Dear Hanover, Wow! You got a great cultured place to eat. Finally. (not like I was holding my breath waiting on you) Great decor, good quality, a little on the pricey side for sushi (expect 1 to 2 dollars more per roll and sushi) Loved Tao's ipod playlist in the background. Located in a strip mall but don't hold that against them; this place is fantastic. SCREW YOU YELP! 5 stars and you filter this review? Your algorithim blows goats for quarters!!!

First I am a HUGE sushi fan and will eat it several times a week. I also love Thai, Vietnamese and Indonesian food. Chinese and Korean are my least favorite of all Asian foods. I lived in California and lived in DC both who IMO have world-class Asian Restaurants...so while not an expert I do think I know good Asian food when I taste it. The Positive- Friendly and attentive staff. Wide variety of Asian cuisine on the menu, and a good looking minimalist atmosphere (though they could use some more art on the walls). The Negative -While I really want to make this my favorite sushi restaurant since it is the only place within 20 minutes from my home, each time (so far three) I go there I am disappointed. The Thai dish (drunken noodles) needed more spice (corriander and basil) and sauce. The summer roll was OK but needed basil...the mint just doesnt work. A spicy peanut dipping sauce would also be good for this appetizer. I love these rolls in the Vietnamese noodle shops!! As far as sushi, the spicy tuna roll (which I use a my first meter when checking out a sushi bar) was blah and small. Don't get me wrong, the fish seemed fresh but the roll lacked taste... would be there if not overpowered by the rice...meaning that they just don't put enough tuna / ingredients in the rolls. They have bigger and better tasting spicey tuna rolls at Wegmans...which is a grocery store! The spider roll was also disappointing. The tuna tartar was very tasty but again, the pieces were small and few for 9.00. How unfortunate :( I like the tuna tartar at the Peking Tokyo in Manchester MD and the sushi and rolls at J&Y in Eldersburg and Yuraku's in Germantown are to die for...and drive for!! Maybe the owners at Blue Koi will take the hint and visit those places for some ideas. I am going to try the Blue Koi again, as I haven't had their Curry. I am also going to try a few more things on the menu. They have so much promise...and I not only want them to succeed but NEED them to succeed...I shouldn't have to drive an hour to an hour and a half just for my sushi fix!! I will get back to you with my next review.

Ok, so I have an obsession with green curry! Anytime I get Thai food, I can never seem to order anything else on the menu, no matter how good it sounds. The food here seems very well prepared and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is nice as well. The menu seems pretty focused on Thai and Japanese food, but is not overwhelming as some menus can get at these fusion type restaurants. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some quality Asian food in the Hanover area.

This restaurant was very strange to us. After reading all of the good reviews we thought we would give it a try, but unfortunately it did not live up to the other reviews. When we arrived we were the only patrons in the restaurant. There was an employee sleeping in the last booth. There was a continuous flow of employees to the restrooms. There was soda piled up in the back corner. The phone rang off the hook and no one seemed to want to answer it even though there were people standing around. The food was just okay, but nothing at all memorable or overly delicious. We left saying that there was no reason that we needed to return.

The Asian restaurant scene in the thriving city of Hanover has received a huge boost. This wonderful restaurant is for those that believe Asian food MUST extend beyond the dime-a-dozen Chinese buffet joints. The owners, Tao and Moon, are not new to the Hanover scene. You may remember them from their previous restaurant (if you're familiar with Hanover, no further info is needed). Tao and Moon have gone out on their own and have created a masterpiece of culinary art. First, the decor is amazing. While you're inside, it is hard to remember that you are actually in a South Side shopping center. The warm colors, wall art, and perfect lighting are as inviting as it gets. The beautiful woodwork of the sushi bar is top notch and is accented with perfectly placed pendant lighting. As far as I know, most of the interior work was done by a local craftsman and/or artist and it is of very good quality. The booths are fashioned with wood similar to the sushi bar and the seats are a very soft, high quality, leather that is quite comfortable. The service is excellent and you can always count on Tao and/or Moon to mingle with the customers throughout the evening. As you become a more familiar face, they will make you feel as if you are part of the family. The food is outstanding. All of it. It doesn't matter what mood strikes you. If you want sushi, it is great. If you'd like a meal, it is great. Some highlights include the Duck Curry from the entree menu. The Summer Rolls on the appetizer menu are super and include Moon's own Thai Chili Sauce (this is one of my favorite sauces and Moon's is a good one). I also enjoy the Baby Octopus on the appetizer menu. I have not had the raw oysters yet but I did enjoy them at their previous location and I can't imagine they are any different here. The Special Roll menu is where it's at. Some of the rolls are carry-overs from the old location and some are new. Either way, they are all superb. Occasionally we have a friend visit who has lived in several cities and she says this is some of the best, if not the best, sushi she has ever had. I can't speak about the dessert menu since I haven't tried any. FYI, this place is BYOB! Bring your wine, bring your sake, bring your beer, whatever. Can it get any better than that? Thank you Tao and Moon for providing such a wonderful place for everyone to come and enjoy your offerings.

If you reside within 60 miles of Hanover PA and love sushi/Asian cuisine you absolutely must visit Blue Koi. I recently had the pleasure of meeting a new client for lunch at this location. The atmosphere was phenomenal, the people amazing and the food speaks for itself. From the great hot tea, to the Twister Roll, Volcano Roll, to the brand new SOB Roll, you will be pleasantly surprised at the explosion of taste that occurs. Not to mention the presentation is by far better than any place locally. I even took some home to the Mrs. and not only did she love it but the kids ate some great Spider Roll and loved it all. Try it once, I promise you will return again and again. I am already planning my next trip!

First off, the inside looks spectacular and there is a sushi bar right as you walk in. Service was quick and courteous and everyone's meals were fantastic. Not much else to say other than they have amazing sushi. Enjoy

First timer. Went with local friends while we were on vacation. Not a sushi person but their menu had a lot to chose from. Eveything we had was very good as well as the service. The kids had Japenese soda that they had to push the top in. Was a kids attraction that they loved. Would go back when in the area.

I've tried at this point !most of the menu. Their sushi is to die for. The freshest I've ever had. For a small town vibe but big city flavors come here. Prices are right and the food is great. Try the crab wontons ! You can't go wrong with what you order. They have a special cheaper lunch menu and they are never busy for lunch. At dinner you might have a small wait.

How is it they have 11 filtered reviews?? I downgraded just so it wasn't under the filtered reviews- even though I'd give 5 stars. We have had consistant, wonderful food many times. The curries are a wonderful introduction to Thai Curries if your new to those flavors. Spicy is normal. It balances against the coconut milk and textures of ingredients. Transplanted local owners who welcome regular patrons with first name basis. Staff is sometimes less familiar with English language, but the owner is always open to questions and willing to share food knowledge. Great place for anyone. Even kids who bring a sandwich from Subway while mom and dad feast. Bring your own bottle, just like most of PA.

Always passed it over, located in a strip mall in hanover pa of all places, blue koi is the BEST Japanese and sushi around for at least 25 miles. Always been fat and happy after a blue koi meal and the sushi is fresh, delicious, and of a good variety

Great ambiance and sushi in an unexpected place. It can be a little noisy but that's because everyone is having a great time. We have introduced many friends to Blue Koi and they were all very impressed. Hanover's best, by far.

Excellent sushi, especially given the location. We started with the Miso soup, which was average but not exceptional. There isn't a lot to do be done with miso anyway. We tasted some individual sushi, and it was very good. Then, we tried three special maki rolls - Green Jade, Twister and California Sunset. All were beyond excellent. Green Jade includes some kiwi, and Twister includes some mango. I'm not usually a fan of fruit in my sushi, but it worked here. There wasn't over powering sweetness as I've had before. The four stars comes strictly for the sushi. I admit, I've tried Blue Koi once before and it was to get some Pad Thai carryout. I was disappointed, it was just ok. If you are coming here, definitely stick to the sushi menu (although maybe some of the other Asian dishes are better). The pad thai is the reason that I didn't give them 5 stars. My only real complaint is that the green tea was served with the tea leaves loose in the pot. That's very strange, and it meant that it steeped too long and was bitter at the end.

Well, well; what a surprise! Nice vibe, date-appropriate and not too crowded (but crowded enough to give hope that they might stick around). We were impressed with our meals; an eclectic mix of Thai, Japanese and Indian menu items. Summer rolls were well made and full of flavor; roti canai was sweeter than I'm used to, but tasty just the same. Sushi was better than okay (not great, but certainly very fresh and fairly well made). Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles both well prepared. Service was efficient and professional; we'll definitely try them again for some other items of their menu. For Hanover, this was a pleasant surprise indeed.

It is the best restaurant in Hanover!! : ) Im usually to afraid to try new things but not at Blue Koi! Everything that we have tried we love! They have friendly staff and an awesome vibe inside! Don't let the outside full you! I wish I could go there once a week....but it is a little pricey but soo worth it!!
