Locals were excited to see this diner come back to life as our options are so limited here in Northern Lebanon County. I was excited to give the diner a try as I had watched the new owners do a lot of exterior work the past couple of weeks. Apparently, they ran out of funds outside because the interior was still as tired and dated as it had been when it was Hillbilly Jacks. I would gladly donate a gallon of paint if they could just change out the mauve wall that is in the center of the restaurant. My first impression walking in was the stifling heat inside. Either the A/C was broken or woefully undersized for the building. It was quite uncomfortable and made me not want to eat once I sat down. I almost ordered ice cream for dinner just to cool off. The menu is typical diner fare, nothing special. Food was ok, but service was super slow. The restaurant had a lot of staff moving about so it did not appear the slowness was related to being understaffed. I ordered a French dip sandwich. The meat was tender but the au jus was absolutely flavorless. It was basically just brown water. My friend ordered fried shrimp which came with a small prepackaged sauce which was enough for maybe 2 shrimp. She had to ask and wait for additional sauces. The staff looked like they were wearing recycled polo shirts with the old embroidered restaurant logo removed by hand. Very unprofessional looking. The staff all looked absolutely miserable to be there. Not a smile to be seen anywhere. During our meal, a fight broke out among staff members with some very loud shouting and cursing within earshot of the entire diner. Several F bombs were dropped. We were shocked as the restaurant was full to capacity with seniors and families with children. Overall, I was disappointed with the new diner. Tired, dated, and completely lacking in class and professionalism.
