Spot on southern Indian food. The place is a walk up counter and a large bakery section of traditional cakes (not Indian). Dosa...as good as I have had! Chicken 67...excellent Chicken tikka masala...awesome Palak paneer...quite good I was with friends who had never had Indian food and so selected items that wouldn't freak them out. They live there and have been back twice since I took them. I ordered several vegetarian dishes and they were terrific. The help and all the clientele (except us) were all Southern Indian. So it was Lots of fun chatting with the very kind folks. Give it a try, it sure beats some chain dump that serves mediocre food at a fraction of the price. The spice level is a little underestimated. I ordered medium and yet would have graded it mild. So if you like spicy, order it hotter than you think you want and you will be delighted.

Went here last night with a bud. Special Chicken briyani. EXCELLENT. Samosa Chat. EXCELLENT. Chicken Manchurian (saucy). Good. Paneer Paratha. EXCELLENT. Mango Lassi. EXCELLENT. Medium spicy was, to my palate, exactly 5 on a scale of 5-10 spicy. I have eaten Indian for 40 years across the USA major cities, including NYC-2nd Ave. This is--in my opinion--among the best I have had, except for elegant places priced 2X+ compared to here. The briyani is very spiced (not hot) with clove dominating. To someone used to milder spiced fare, it might be too much. Not to me and my colleague. The place is not a dumpy as some make it out to be. It is what it is. It is called Indian Hut. Not Indian Palace or Bombay Palace. The staff was quite friendly. The Bollywood dance videos playing on the big screen were great ambiance. Interesting lesson in 60 years of USA iconology + disco fever. The prices very reasonable. The menu quite varied. C'mon--you will not find better Indian in these necks of the Burbs; most others are gringo-bland. 5-stared it for low prices, great food and expected ambiance. If the latter is critical to you, then 4-stars. In 2 hrs, we were the only Caucasians to enter the place on Thurs. night 7:30-9 PM, the rest of the 20 or so customers were natives. That tells you something. Most went take-out. In any case, this is a unique place.

Good food and good prices. Easily a 4-star place based on food and prices. Living in Philadelphia, I have low expectations of suburb food, so this was a nice surprise. With that said, the service, was no-good, terrible, impolite, etc. Normally I don't care, but I'm not sure if they said one word, or even looked me when I talked.

This is what Indian convenience food should be. The Veg Dum Biryani is a standout rich with cloves. The vegetarian thali is an incredible value available only at lunch time. For $7.99 you get 3 delicious vegetarian dishes, rice, raita, 4 naans, pickle, milk tea, and dessert. My only criticism is that parts of the thali are only luke warm. I've ordered indo chinese twice, something new for me. The Manchurian curry was too sweet but Manchurian dry was a delicious blend of savory spice, slightly sweet. The samosas are a bit less peppery than most but were quite fresh and had a wonderful texture of velvety potato and plump peas. The counter workers are fast and take pride in their food.

Exton, PA So I found this spot after Exton Mall shopping and living and schooling here for a while. Helllllooooooo.....Love it. Yes...it is an amazing place...like the stuff on Oak Tree Road in Edison, NJ. Why are u so far from me now? Of all the Indian places in Center city Ive been....still nothing compare. Yummy. Make it spicy please! They have the dosas and the indian bakery goods. Did I mention how much I miss this place? Whenever someone tells me they are coming from Exton...I will ask them to please pick me up food from here!

Dropped by here for lunch once and tried out the chicken dosa. Never had dosa before so I didn't know what to expect. It was like a giant crepe. The chicken had just enough spice to make it interesting. Really liked it, along with the condiments/sauces it came with. The desserts looked yummy but didn't try them. Will come back here again if I'm ever back in Exton and perhaps try their thali. That seems to be their bargain lunch special but didn't realize that until after I made my order. As others have said, the decor here is "modest" but that's an understatement. You definitely come here for the food, not the ambiance.

Hard to leave a positive review when you don't get what you ordered. Tried to feed a family event with takeout from this location. In addition to the half hour wait after driving half an hour over, we got our food and made the return trip. Unpacked the food in front of the family only to discover there was absolutely no rice present to serve the food over. When we called to see what the issue was, we were informed Indian food is never served over rice and that we were wasting their time. Thanks for screwing up our evening Indian Hut, see you never again.

Mayur C. has brought me here on multiple occasions to please my South Indian heart. I stick to the various dosas and have never been disappointed. The sambar is well salted, the coconut chutney is fresh, and the tomato chutney is zesty! If you've never had a dosa (they aren't at most Indian restaurants), go try one, you won't be disappointed. They also sell North Indian food too and delicious Indo-Chinese. The gobi munchirun is a must-try! This is a daba-style restaurant as in good food/no frills. You can pay at the counter/no waiter service which is actually convenient, fast service. Sometimes the food comes out not piping hot, which is meh.

Food good. Their rest rooms are pathetic. Guy at the cashier never has a smile. One time my pregnant wife puked all night after eating their samosas - but that was just one off incident, other times we have been fine. Recommendation to them would be to keep their place (floor, restrooms etc.)

RICE IS NOT INCLUDED WITH ENTREES. Shocking news to my family and their guests when we arrived with dinner only to find that we had no rice with our 3 orders of Chicken Tikka Masala, Karahi Chicken, and Aloo Gobhi Masala. I have never been served entrees like Chicken Tikka Masala without rice. If it had been clearly labeled on the menu under the entree section that rice was NOT included it would not have been a problem, but this information was NEVER clear to us when we ordered. I am giving one star for not fully informing the customer of what they are or aren't receiving.

Very authentic and tasty food their kitchen is very clean, guys here are very quick and nice. Just make sure if u take a takeout then. Check it twice if anything is missing since they are so busy it can happen. We come here very often and my kids also love the food, mango lassi, pastries everything. Only negative point I can think of is the Television sets are too noisy and since Indian films have become total vulgar, it's not a sight for kids!! Other than this negative else is all exceptionally good!!!!

O.K, I've eaten here a few times now and feel I can give it a proper review....Love it!!! Decor is very humble and it's counter service, vinyl benched booths, a self serve water dispenser and plastic dishes (which I kinda dig). Always been pretty busy when I've gone and the the staff is all business. Check out their menu online. I've had: couple of the dal's.....oohh yes. The biryanis's...mmmm baby. Dosa...ahhhhh. And the goat curry.....whoooooa....didn't think I could go there. Pretty spicy but but really flavorful and not offensive at all. AND......they have some amazing cakes with little small potions that just complete me....ahhh....I mean the meal.

I started out with the samosas which were awesome, then moved on to the non-vegetarian special of the day which was chicken tikki masala. I was bummed that the special happened to be a dish I've had many times as opposed to something new to me. I probably should have made another selection but being a noob I decided to stick with the special so that I could sample the accompanying side dishes. The chicken was fine, the bread was very good, and so were what I believe to be some form of baked french fries with green peppers; I'm sure they have a name but no idea what it could be. Other random inclusions were a pickle (vile), bread (naan? good), rice (it was rice), something resembling lentils (sort of bland), something that resembled cole slaw which turned out to be onions in a yogurt sauce (onion overdose), and one lone fried honey ball (OK). In order to achieve the minimum credit card payment of $15 (a major con, to be sure), I added a mango lassi which turned out to be a good call and definitely the highlight of my meal. As far as the service, it was brusque; noobs shouldn't expect much help deciphering the menu - I sure as hell didn't get any. I also asked to have my lassi at the end of my meal so it wouldn't sit there getting warm. That request fell on deaf ears. I also didn't get a "thank you" , "how was everything?", or any other basic tenets of hospitality. I'm not going to indite the place based on one indifferent staffperson, plus there's still so much to try and, after all, Craig LaBan raved about the place, so I'm leaning on returning.

Their chats are something to go back to again and again for. My mouth is watering even as I am writing this review. The guy at the cash register was patient enough to wait till I decided what I wanted and did not mind when I changed my decision a couple of times and went back and forth. That also means, Its self service. I didn't like their fried rice and Naan but most of the other dishes are very tasty. Quantity is not bad either. I can eat their channa masala and bhel Puri daily if I have to. Just Yum!

One of the worst and unhygienic place ever. We were group of four and vegetarians to be considered :) we ordered regular appetizers and main dish like curry n naan. Looking at the surroundings and watch people working on the counter was a nightmare. Worst customer service. When my husband went to order additional items as we liked it what we over and want to have more. The South Indian guy probably not the owner made faces to my husband and nibbled something to his co-worker in other language that was quite offending. As we had friends over from Ohio , we didn't wanted to make a scene. The table were not clean and saw a guy coming out of the bathroom and directly went to counter to make ordered items and after 2 mins probably his manager corrected him so he washed his hand and went back to his routine. Quite sad to see and experience all that. I am not coming back at all. Worst customer service, arrogant and rude.

You want some really well made chicken dum briyani with the right flavors? Then this is the place. For like 10 bucks you get a huge plate of chicken briyani with an boiled egg that is more than enough for 2 people. But remember this is somewhat of a hole in a wall kind of setup but the food is definitely worth it.

Prices have gone up, and on two occasions, I've experienced a bit of a weird attitude. On one occasion, I was (gently?) mocked for wanting to order sambar (a vegetable stew/chowder according to Wikipedia) without rice, which it does not come with, although it is usually eaten with. On another occasion, I asked for my panini to be spicy (I love spicy food and have always ordered it spicy), and I was basically told they didn't think it was a good idea and I wouldn't like it. When I again asked for it spicy, I'm pretty sure they gave me a mild medium.

OMG the Biryani! This inconspicuous place serves up an amazing rice-chicken/mutton combination. Its authentic, flavourful and just delicious. The rice is cooked to perfection and the meat takes you back to the streets of India. We discovered it on saturday, and came back sunday night for another fill.

After a recent trip to this strip mall to eat at Han Dynasty, I noticed this place on the way in. I immediately put it on my future "to try" list. This week was the week to try it. Now, I'm going to judge two different visits. My first visit was a solo visit for lunch. That visit was simple. I chose two dishes I happen to love, which are Samosa Chaat and Gobi Manchurian, with a Mango Lassi of course. They all pleased me very much. But, what struck me the most is while I was looking at the menu, not only did I see a bunch of items I wanted to try in the future, I also saw some items that the wife would go crazy for. You see, being that she was born in Mumbai, and since I have visited Mumbai with her, I have come to know a little bit about the legendary Mumbai street food. So I recognized a few items that I know she doesn't get very much around here, and I knew I'd have to bring her here. So, after telling her about my find (after she gave me the requisite guilt trip about eating Indian food without her which I'm used to by now), she determined that we would go there for dinner tonight. So, tonight the wife and I ordered up several more dishes to try. To satisfy her Mumbai street food cravings, Vada Pav and Dahi Batata Puri were ordered, as well as a Masala Dosa (my wife seems to be on the search for the perfect dosa lately which I have happily joined her for), and for my meat cravings, I gave the Chicken 65 and the Chicken Biryani a try. Of all of these dishes, I loved the Chicken 65 and the dosa the most. Chicken 65 is apparently a popular South Indian bar snack fried and marinated in 65 spices (take that, Colonel Sanders). Consider it the "boneless buffalo wing" of India. It's wonderful to say the least. The dosa might be my favorite thus far in the area. Good subtle crisp to it. Meanwhile, the wife was going crazy for the Vada Pav and Puri. My samplings of the dishes found them to be pretty darn tasty as well. The Puri is a flavor explosion in the mouth. I won't describe it, just experience it yourself. If there was any dish that damn near killed me with the spice, it was the biryani. I tasted a very strong clove taste at first (which I'm still burping up as I write this), and as I ate more of it, the spice hit me like a delayed reaction. In fact, I'm fairly certain the power of the spice temporarily made me disoriented to the point that I almost spilled a cup of water on me as I drank it. Damn, the food made me lose motor skills briefly. Now, this is not to say it was bad. Far from it. It just crossed my personal threshold of spice, which is better than it used to be but not as high as others. And, judging by the amount of Indian people who were eating here, and how many of them I saw ordering biryani while I was there, I have to think that this dish is tailored more to the hardcore Indian palate, which is fine. Me, I'll just order it more mild next time if I can. Oh by the way, we took some of the desserts home. We have a pound of Indian cookies which we haven't sampled yet (but looked awesome). However, we did sample the Gulab Jamun when we came home. And it's quite possible that we just found the BEST DAMN Gulab Jamun in the area. In fact, I think my wife is still doing a Bollywood dance in her head over it. If you know nothing of Gulab Jamun, I implore you to try it from here. You will thank me later. A very solid 4 stars from me. My wife would probably find a way to give it 6 stars if she could. In fact, I think she's already calling her relatives in this area to meet her here. And I think she wants to move to Exton now. Thanks, Indian Hut, for potentially increasing my future mortgage payment.

I have been here soo many times that I have almost tried everything. Don't expect it to be some high end restaurant, it's a typical hole in the wall kinda restaurant with an excellent variety. Even though I gave it a five rating it doesn't mean everything is fantastic. I don't like any of their curries.... chole bhature is okay. .. chaat is umm so so. But chicken dumb biriyani. .. chicken tandoori, everything in the bakery section including the pastries and puffs are brilliant. It reminds me of India and that is why I have given it five star. If u are a true lucknowi biriyani lover and enjoy dhaba style chicken tandoori then this is the place. I have been living in the east coast since past 15 years and all the restaurants that serves biriyani are either south indian style or Punjabi style and they taste anything but biriyani. Coming from Kolkata I have been bought up eating shiraaj and arsalan biriyani and dhaba style chicken Tikka and tandoori. Sadly and luckily this is the only place in the entire east coast that serves Kolkata/lucknowi style biriyani. It's a must to taste chicken dum biriyani and chicken tandoori from this place. My friends and families comes all the way from NY and Florida to eat biriyani from this place. I belong to a family of food lover therefore we drive to any distance to get the best food. I hope my review helps if you are debating to pay a visit. Enjoy the food.

My mouth is still recovering from the curry blast I received from ordering the Karahi vegetables. I was offered rice and bread, which I had to turn down because of current dietary issues. The bowl of vegetables was delicious and I will be going back to this place. As someone mentioned, it's a combined bakery and restaurant, so little in the way of wait service. I would still highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a sample of spicy Indian food. Oh yes, there was a TV playing Bollywood movies in the background with subtitles in English. Now that's classy!

Yummy and authentic food. Quaint atmosphere and super friendly staff. We have eaten take-out as well as dined in. Indian hut does both well. Try the 64 spice chicken and gobi manchurian appetizers - they are super good. Oh and good luck getting out of there without something from their homemade dessert case!

I had all vegetarian dishes, and even though I've had better, it wasn't too bad. My boyfriend on the other hand had the chicken curry, and not long after eating, he was up puking the whole night. I'm sure it was from the chicken in the curry, since I didn't seem to suffer any sort of food poisoning. Maybe it was just a bad batch, but just to be safe I would stay away from anything meat related if you choose to eat here.

Good place. Great food. Very slightly overpriced for the quantity. Worth for the quality. You will not be disappointed except for their dosa and papdi chat. Try chole batura and samosa chat instead.

PROS: good food, plenty of parking, decent prices CONS: $15 minimum credit card purchase, No ambiance whatsoever, Lots of better options in the area My first trip to IH was interesting. I walked in and there was only one other person in the place, and he was behind the counter. He acknowledged my presence with a nod, and that was all. I could almost hear the sound of crickets in the awkward silence that followed. There are baked goods on display, but none of their other food is on display at all. For someone not extremely familiar with Indian cuisine, being able to see it helps a lot, even if it's just pictures on a menu. I ended up ordering (to go) the non-vegetarian lunch thali, which includes (or is supposed to include) a chicken dish, dal, vegetable, raita, roti, rice, pickle, and dessert. My lunch was ready in about 7 minutes. Hooray for fast food Indian! As you can see in the photo, there is a small, medium, and large section in the very sturdy plastic lunch container they provided. The large section contained a heaping portion of plain basmati rice and 4 big slices of tandoori roti. The medium section held the vegetable, a mix of potatoes, okra, onions, and tomatoes in a curry sauce. The smallest section was home to the 'chicken dish.' I suppose I should have asked, but there was no indication as to what chicken dish it was. For my $9, I think the amount of food was good but the chicken dish should have been in the medium sized space, and the veggie in the small slot. There was also no dal or pickle provided. I can do without the pickle, but was very much looking forward to the dal :( The raita was a nice change of pace to the savory dishes, cooled off the mouth nicely. The dessert was a single galub jamun (based on a google images search) in one of the smallest lidded plastic containers I've ever seen. It was quite adorable actually. The chicken (still not sure exactly what dish it was!) and vegetable dishes were very tasty and had a good amount of heat without being overwhelmingly spicy. As 'fast food' goes, I'll take this over McDonald's any day. But faster yet are the many Indian buffets in the area, where you walk in and have immediate access to a plethora of hot dishes. Bottom line, IH is a good place to pick up bring back to work to eat. I'll give take-out another shot, but this is not at all a place I would want to go sit and eat. There are far too many better options for that in West Chester/Exton.

The food here is OK - some items are better than others. On my vegetarian Thali, some items were freshly made while others seemed like they were heated with cold and hot spots in the microwave. They offer a Chicken Dosa, which is rare to find. Service is consistently NOT good. They need to pay more attention to their clients and the kitchen needs to churn out food faster for those on a lunch break. Wish they offered things like Frankies (Indian spiced buritto like snack).

My favorite Indian restaurant undoubtedly atleast in philly suburbs. I am a huge fan of their special chicken biryani. There was a time I frequented this place every weekend. I also like their masala dosa and vegetable panini. I used to like Hakka Noodles and chicken fried rice here but its not how it used to be a year back. Also, one must try masala soda here. My four year old nephew ordered chicken tikka masala with Nan and loved it. The chicken tikka masala was just OK but the Nan was to die for. Again its better than other Indian restaurants in Philly suburbs.

Looking for a fast food Indian spot that has authentic and modern Indian cuisine? This is the place to go. They have a lot of things that other Indian restaurants in the area do not have, like Pani Puri. They do not have much of a menu, but it is significantly cheap and delicious. Some of this dishes can be overwhelmingly spicy, so becareful what you buy, unless you like the heat.

Probably our favorite Indian food in the area. Not much on atmosphere, but everything we've eaten has been top notch, especially the mutton curry available on the weekends. Also, the best (only?) place around for chat. Great selection, from street food to more typical restaurant dishes to Indo-Chinese.

I went with my friend for lunch and ordered a Vegetarian Thali and a Non Veg Thali as well. The food was really pathetic and was below par. The paneer was as hard as steel and the gravy tasted like a sweet chinese gravy. The potato and capsicum dish was full of oil but at least a tad better than the paneer. The raita had absolutely nothing in it and tasted like white water. This place got a 1 star rating from me just becaiuse of the gulab jamun which was excellent.

Great choice for Asian food in Chester County. Recommended : Veg Thali or get the Cauliflower. All for a great price.

Just Yum!

Good place. Great food. Very slightly overpriced for the quantity. Worth for the quality. You will not be disappointed except for their dosa and papdi chat. Try chole batura and samosa chat instead.

Our meal was very good! The Chloe Bhatura had fabulous puffy bread and all the spices were fine. We asked for extra cilantro and they happily obliged. Our whole group of 4 all give it 4 stars.

This place is everything I missed about living near Oak Tree road in Edison NJ. Fantastic! I get the same things every time. Mysore masala dosa and dry chilly gobi. The biryani is pretty good for this area.
