We have eaten at this particular restaurant for years and have always had great meals and wonderful service, and last night we went to celebrate our youngest son's birthday. As it happened, the "waiter" accidentally spilled 1 small shrimp from the appetizer onto my other son's dress shirt. It happens, no problem. But the surprising thing was that the "waiter" turned out to be the proprietor of the restaurant and not only did he immediately apologize but he also wanted to pay for the dryer cleaning of the dress shirt, AND comp'd the entire meal, which was totally not necessary. It was too too generous, and we were totally taken aback when the waitress showed us the bill at the end of the meal! We tried to insist that it was not necessary, and that we were not expecting anything like that at all.... But Jason P insisted; so we left a large tip to show our gratitude. We had told Jason when we found out about the bill that we didn't want him to go to such lengths, and that we enjoy eating at that Bonefish Grill, but he wouldn't change his mind. I wanted to just again say THANK YOU to Jason P. and the staff there at BF grill once again for such kindness and generosity! It is very rare nowadays when someone will apologize for their mistake, no matter how big or small, and take responsibility for the situation. We wish Jason P wonderful success in his restaurant endeavors. Hope we will see you soon at the Bonefish Grill in Exton PA.

Simple. The Bang Bang Shrimp is TO DIE FOR! The only reason I'm not giving this place a 5 is because it is way overpriced.

I wasn't suprised or anything, but it was decent. We ordered "bang-bang shrimp" which is typically good, but today it was lacking sauce, and it was suprisingly not as spicy as they advertise it. I also had a caeser salad which didn't have enough dressing and had more than enough parmesean cheese. I also ordered the"Maine Lobster Tail," and the "Filet Mignon," they were average. The Lobster was a little burnt, and overcooked. I thought the butter sauce was good, and it was presented well. The filet was cooked medium rare (to my liking), and I enjoyed the mashed potatoes. But the only problem with the filet was the outside was a little burnt. I enjoyed this place, but I will not be rushing back. P.S. it was quite pricy... For 4 people it was 150$ for brunch.

We started with Lobster Bisque which is Tomato based and very good with lumps of Lobster. I had the Chilean Sea Bass which was awesome with the Garlic Potatoes. My Wife had the Alaskan Salmon with Gratin Potatoes and it was also excellent! Our service was also great and this would have been 5 stars but the portions were on the small side.

The service was fast. The food came out fast. The food was good. Everything ran smoothly from my perspective. The construction paper type table cloth, is a bit low class but not that big if a negative.

Passable, but if I want overcooked salmon I can make it at home. Generally if you go to a restaurant and the waitstaff spends the whole time talking about dipping sauces and not about any actual food you know the priorities might be a bit off. Even the scallops are cooked straight through, which in my book is a sin beyond forgiveness. The sauces are actually entertaining and the food is better when the spices and breading are the main attraction, like with the faux-asian (and slightly racist) Bang Bang Shrimp. But don't expect "grilled to perfection" here. Grilled to char is about all you're going to get.

It's just a chain restaurant. It is not spectacular food or service. The waiters and waitresses were all right, no one was rude at least. But the seafood here was completely disappointing. I ordered some kind of shrimp as an appetizer and it was way too spicy and not good. I got scallops as a main dish, and they were rubbery and tough in the center - obviously improperly cooked, as I make my own scallops better than this. They were not the best scallops I'd ever eaten. It's too expensive for the quality. If you want really excellent seafood don't go here. Like I said: it's just a big chain establishment that has mediocre food. Also, the Exton place is VERY crowded now, and almost claustrophobic, and the noise level can get loud. Not good for kids either.

Normally I would not suggest a chain. I was wondering what overly decorated place with crappy food my friends were going to bring me to. I was surprised with how much I liked the food. The inside is decorated classy. The food was great with a wide price range. My friend got the Bang Bang Shrimp which was very good. I ordered the fish taco's. They were cajun style and the menu said wood grilled. They were tasty. My wife got a jerk chicken cobb salad. She really liked the salad but wished for a little more jerk in her chicken (that sounded a lot better in my head) Not a bad place to stop in exton

The menu is limited and leans toward the fish/seafood arena. But I am going through a carnivorous phase and I have to say that the filet mignon is among the best I have had. The crabcake topped filet was especially amazing...but I believe it is a special. Whatever they do to their mashed potatoes elevates them to the point where I want to bathe in them. We brought our West Coast foodie friends here and they were oohing and ahhing all the way home. The ambiance is so nice....especially for a strip mall. I also have a bias against "chain" restaurants but can't we all just get along? If you didn't know it was a chain, you would be doing cartwheels down Lincoln Highway to have found such tasty fare in little 'ol bland West Chester. The wait staff are very friendly and wear those nifty little white jackets that make you feel as though you are in a pricier restaurant (or at your dentist's office). The wine offerings are respectable. Bonefish is a nice, relaxing place to eat!

For a classy looking restaurant it's unfortunate their service is worse than McDonald's. we made a reservation and arrived ten minutes early, the told us it would be a few minutes but forty minutes later we decided to leave. Trying to get a drink at the bar was a hassel and the staff was anything but kind or friendly. It wasn't until we told the desk we were going elsewhere that they tried to save the awful experience with a pathetic plea they would give us the next table. First impressions are important as is quality service. Good luck bonefish sorry you were so disappointing.

Bonefish is still a fabulous chain restaurant and I'm reviewing the Exton location because it's closer to home and I revelry had Sunday brunch there. Brunch is good, Eggs Benedict is fabulous and the au gratin potatoes are amazing. Fresh toast is really not that good. In fact I couldn't finish it because it was not tasty. Bloody Mary's are incredible!! Delano the bartender is awesome and knows exactly what he's doing! The bacon in the Bloody Mary makes it perfect. Delano moved from the new town square bonefish to Exton and we can't wait to go back and visit him!

I was really disappointed with my visit to the Exton location this past Saturday. My parents took my out for my birthday, we made reservations ahead of time because we know it's a popular place and of course it was a Saturday. Even with our 7pm reservation we were made to wait 45 minutes for a table of three. This was excruciating for my father who has spinal problems and has to walk with a cane. We were told it would be a short wait by the hostess but she basically lied. Once we were finally seated about an hour later our drink ordered were taken but only 2 drinks arrived. My mother never got the tea she asked to accompany her water. While our appetizers came out relatively quickly our entrees took forever. So much so that my mothers potatoes were cold, as well as my fathers spaghetti squash. He also complained about it being quite bland. Thankfully my dinner came out alright, but I felt terrible for picking a place to eat that was no where near my expectations for the chain. I frequent the Newtown Square location more often with my boyfriend and have never had a bad experience there so I was greatly surprised at the drastic difference at the Exton location. I certainly won't be wasting my time or money at Exton again.

The service was excellent. The food was not. Shortly after we ordered, the apps and salads were out so fast that they had to slow our dinner order. We would have been done faster than it took us to get a table.

Bang bang shrimp is awesome and my partner loved his steak, my tuna was excellent as well. Place as a great TGI anyday of the week vibe. Fun drinks, like Mule in a real copper cup and some concoction in a "glass" made of ice. I have to say that I passed this place by as just another chain quite a few times but when I was out of town and a friend said, "let's meet up here" I was really glad to have the experience.

  • Gabriel A.

Bonefish used to be my go-to restaurant, but it seems like every time I go, something else I loved has been taken off the menu! And every time I ask the servers why, they also seem surprised that "that favorite" has been removed. It's gotten to the point that now I only go if someone else wants to go. Their food is still good, but it was better before, and I'm annoyed and disappointed by the repeat decisions to remove food, desserts, and steak toppings that their customers are enjoying.

Mostly solid food. Over the past dozen or so times I've visited I've had 5 star visits and near 1 star visits, so consistency of food and service isn't this place's best quality. However, when the food is done well it is excellent for a seafood chain restaurant (seems like 4 out 5 times this is the case, hence the overall 4 star rating). Notable mentions include the wood fired fish selections, particularly the Chilean Sea Bass Pan Asian Style or the Lobster Thermidor Dorado. My wife enjoys the Angler Steak and the Burger, all of which I've tried and can agree that they are solid choices. The Bang Bang Shrimp, Ahi Tuna Sashimi, and the Calamari are all superb appetizers. And the bread with herbs and olive oil dipping sauce... BOOM!!! I have trouble not asking for seconds of this stuff! The deserts are okay (all made in house), with a preference for their signature Key Lime Pie. They also offer a nice Happy Hour with discounted drink specials ($3 House Red or White Wine, $1 off draft beers) and discounted bar food options. I believe these specials are offered every day (including weekends) from 4:00-6:30PM and you don't have to be seated in the bar area to take advantage of them (love this option). Overall, food and drink prices are fair for quality and quantity. In summary, overall 4 stars for a seafood chain restaurant. However, be forewarned that service and food can be inconsistent. The good news is that management has always been responsive to complaints and has made the situation right. I will definitely keep this place on the short list of restaurants to dine at.

One has to make a reservation to guarantee a seating on weekends. This restaurant has fresh seafood and well prepared dishes. We went many times with friends & every meal was good. The mussel appetizer was succulent & tender. The Chilean sea bass was delicious, the Ahi Tuna was tasty & the lamb chops were very flavorful. Service was excellent. A nice place to have a good dinner.

Start with a great appetizer menu. If garlic is not a problem, try their mussels. Perfectly done and so tasty. A large serving. Other appetizers are good too. Their house salad has tasty dressing. Scallops and shrimp are nicely done. Try the teriyaki like marinade. Artic char can't be beat for a main course. The lobster roll is a new item and great for a summer item. Don't miss either. Sweet potato mash is tasty. Creme brûlée is excellent if you don't mind the calories. Rum coconut pie is rich and yummy. The best franchise in the area.

Was told 20-25 minutes when I showed up. Okay fine. Looks busy so I'll wait. 30 minutes pass and a whole bunch of people get in ahead of me before I ask how much longer. "Oh you're next on the list. 5 minutes". Sure next on the list then. 5 minutes pass and I notice another family going in. Alright maybe they had a reservation. Another five minutes and I see someone else's buzzer go off. Yeah you know what, never mind. Why not just tell me to my face that my money's not good here? It'd save me some time. I'm not spending money to have you spit in my face. Will not be going back.

I was in town for work and stopped here to catch the World Cup game and have dinner. I was very pleased overall with the service and the food - everything was prompt, fresh and delicious. I didn't do the bang bang shrimp everyone recommends, but the apps and entrees were all great. What really made me like this place even more was the fact that I accidentally left my sweatshirt there and traveled back home outside of the state the next day. Jason, the manager, was incredibly helpful and accommodating on the phone and returned it to me via mail. What a nice honest guy - little goodwill gestures like that will certainly reinforce me being a repeat customer when I am next in the area. Highly recommended.

First time trying this place and it was very good. Bang Bang shrimp poboy came on a good roll, stuffed with lots of spicy shrimps. I opted for the slaw instead of fries or couscous. The fish and chips was a nice platter of 3 good sized pieces of flaky cod that came with fries. Have to say the only thing that wasn't really good were the fries. The service was very good, and they have plenty of parking close to the restaurant.

Nice place , good fish and service. We had a large party and 3 of the meals were a bit cold when they arrived at our table. However, the problem was immediately fixed and the meals were comped by management. Regardless of this little snafu, the meal was fabulous and our see er, Jan, was excellent! A favorite spot for everyone in my FAM and well worth the time and price!

I'm almost embarrassed to say this about a chain restaurant, but the two of us had a meal that rivaled any we've had in private establishments from Philly to Paris. I had never had char and thought the preparation was great. The sides were very good. The key lime pie tasted like It was made at my favorite place near St. Petersburg, Fla. It was not noisy. The waitress was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. I was surprised how good it all was. I've been there several times and found Bonefish to be consistently good to great. Sometimes noisy.

We went here for dinner last night. I ordered the bang bang shrimp appetizer for dinner since I didn't want a huge meal prior to the movies. The waitress asked if I wanted to add a side. I added a side of pumpkin raviolis and was surprised with 3 mushroom raviolis. When the bill came, I was yet again surprised with a $18 bang bang shrimp entrée when the appetizer is only $9. I wasn't a huge fan of all the surprises so doubt I would go back.

It is sad for me to give Bonefish a 1 star rating. I have been a regular patron since they opened in Exton. When BF first opened they had a dynamic staff, a caring management, and an outstanding menu and kitchen. Now they have an AWFUL staff, an apparently uncaring management (based on them letting the staff deteriorate to the point of being worthless) and a haphazard kitchen. I sit at the bar 98% of the time. The bartenders use to be smart, witty, attentive, FUN. NOW they are filled with gossip, they spend most of their time talking or sniping amongst themselves, inattentive, sad, angry, and mostly stand in a circle ignoring the patrons. Bonefish use to issue surveys, if they still did I would be telling them this directly. If I were in charge I would fire every bartender and hire people who knew how to have fun, work hard, smile a lot, and bring people back. I am very sad that my favorite restaurant has become this run of the mill chain, food slinging, inattentive, boorish, shadow of itself. PLEASE try and rehabilitate yourself!

Pros: For a chain, it really exceeds expectations on many levels. Lots of fresh food. No 'fishy' odor, particularly for a place that serves a lot of seafood. Lots of vegetables. Unique appetizers and entrees. Our dinners were delicious. Cons: my friend's swordfish/pumpkin ravioli was too small of a serving for the cost, as was the watery apple martini she ordered. It's too DARK in there!! Seriously, for two people in their early 40's we had to use our phones as light to read the menu. Definitely make reservations! I would go back again as a special occasion place.

Bonefish is one of my favorite go-to places for dinner when I am traveling on business. I like to sit up by the bar and the big screen, where I can watch ESPN while drinking some cold brews and eating some deliciousness. I went over to the one in Exton the other night to try another meal on the seasonal menu. Last time I got the delicious ahi with jalapeno sauce... this time, I got the lobster grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was not good, sadly... the lobster had a "chlorine-esque" taste, and the "tomato soup" was more like hot marinara sauce served in a shot glass... it was very disappointing and the reason for my 3-star review. That menu item needs to go! BOTTOM LINE: Everything was good, except for the seasonal menu item I got... probably a fluke.

Went for brunch today, first visit to BFG. Appetizer was great (warm seafood dip, chowder), entrees were great (fish tacos, rainbow trout, salmon, and children's mac & cheese) and service was excellent! Our server Jae was so attentive and nice. I told her my daughter had a nut allergy and she checked with the kitchen about our order and came back with helpful info and menu suggestions. The manager (I think he was the manager?) also came out to discuss options to ensure we had a safe and a enjoyable meal. I really appreciated the help and didn't know the fryer was used for nut products sometimes, things I wouldn't think of when ordering chicken tenders or fries. Thank you BFG for being so great! We'll be back for sure!

I really enjoyed this place. I went first w/ my husband and had fish and chips...awesome! Service was great and I even like the tuna and crackers they give you instead of bread. Drinks were good too. Hubs enjoyed his dinner, although I cannot remember what he had. The next time we went, we took our children and they enjoyed it too.

I've dined here several times for dinner. I rather like the decor of the place. It's contemporary, but also a tad classy. And somehow comfortable. The menu is excellent, with a nice variety, while seafood is emphasized, there's something for everyone. And the fresh bread is excellent, as are the appetizers -- usually. It always appears to be well staffed, with an abundance of well trained young people bustling about. The problem with this place is its irregularity. Some meals are excellent. Well prepared and thoroughly enjoyable. Yet upon the next visit, I'll order a nice fish dish and find it to be quite oily. And I do mean oooiiilllyyy. Different chefs? I don't eat here often enough to sort out the pattern. But whenever I consider another visit I pause... "What was it last time?" If it was excellent, I'll usually skip the place and try elsewhere. I wish you luck. Because when it's good, it's excellent.

Went to this Bonefish location on Sat May 10th. The menu is nice, and the martini selection is great. However, this is the second time I've been to this location where I've had a fish item extremely undercooked. Not sure what is going on in the kitchen but if they can't cook their signature fish dishes properly that's a serious problem. This visit was swordfish (was even requested it be cooked well done), last visit was tilapia. It's a shame because the first two times I went here everything was great. Make sure to check your fish before you start eating it.

Absolutely inattentive waitress. We placed our orders and we had to wait for 20 minutes for us to get our silverware and bread. Normally while I would be thrilled with that service, the kicker was that my soup had been sitting for 10 minutes and I had to consume it with soggy croutons because I did not have silver! She could not come back to check on us. Just will not go back there again. Also, didn't really care for the food. Ordered the couscous with fire roasted vegetables. The couscous was bland (there was no seasoning whatsoever). Just will not be going back there.

Portions are small and the prices are way overpriced for the amount of food you get. Granted seafood is expensive but this was literally not enough food for a 3 year old. Wouldn't return. There's many other places that you will get the same exact thing for less.

  • Andres L.

I love this place. I've tried just about everything on the food menu excluding a few Hand helds and one Seafood. I even ordered a SALAD one time just to see. It was the best. Prices run a little high but you get every dollar's worth here. Quality over quantity.

Took my husband for a special lunch on Sat. Been to this location on many occasions in past thou it has been a while. I recommended the pad Thai, which we have both had before and it was excellent. I ordered fish and chips, also recommended to me. Pad Thai was inedible for various reasons. After my husband ate a spoonful of minced garlic literally the equivalent to 2 tablespoons, we sent it back thinking the chef accidentally added chopped garlic thinking it was chopped peanuts. Waiter kindly took it back and promised a new dish. 15 minutes later a new one comes out. Now I love garlic, never thought I would ever complain of such a thing as too much. Still can't believe anyone would unknowingly serve this. It smelled and looked ugh... Enough about that. Worst fish and chips ever. Thick, soggy, doughy , greasy, yet dry . Sooooo mad I thru away my good, hard earned money on this slop. We will probably never go back. All the good experiences we have had and this one negative was so bad it will be most memorable, sorry to say.

This chain was a pleasant surprise although it shouldn't have been since it was packed when we picked up our takeout order. It's in a shopping center off Rt 30, down road from the Exton Mall. Well worth the 5 mn drive. Our order was ready after 25 mns despite their being quite busy. *Mussels josephine: this is an app but boy...that's a HUGE app! Tasty sauce and you can get this as an entree since once you dip the bread in you get pretty full. *Baja fish tacos: these looked tasty and our friend polished them off along w. the mixed green side salad w. balsamic vinaigrette it came with (or you can get chips instead). *Longfin tilapia imperial: fiance ordered this with a side of garlic mashed potatoes (yum!). Fresh fish altho portions are on a the smaller side. *Pecan parmesan crusted rainbow trout: got this with a side of french green beans (haricot verts) which were delish and fresh. Fish was fresh with skin on. Taste altho once again, on the smallish side. Everything was good and we'd definitely go here again. Too bad there aren't any in Long Island or NYC :( booo..

We went to this Bonefish Grill after going to a Bonefish Grill in Florida; the food was absolutely delicious. I had the bang bang shrimp (which was the reason for my return). As I expected, the bang bang shrimp was delicious! Every item ordered was delicious!

Great seafood!! I ordered the salmon with mash potatoes and it was very soft and melted in my mouth. My friends ordered scallops and lamb I think? Whatever it was, it was delicious as well. I was a seated right away.. However I wished my waiter was more attentive because she never came back to ask how was everything. Overall, I would come here again and recommend to anyone.

Yes this is my first Yelp review....But I wanted a Yelp account and couldn't think of another restaurant/business that I enjoyed with complete thoroughness as much as I did at Bonefish Grill of Exton...hence my very first Yelp review being a 5 out of 5. I went for my brother's high school graduation dinner. EVERYONE recommends the Bang Bang shrimp and so of course we tried it and it was everythingI had imagined and more. I also had pan-seared ahi tuna that was perfect...and although I'm big on only eating half a plate to save calories, at this restaurant it was impossible. I'd go there more often (every weekend, perhaps) if it wasn't so nice? I think that's still a compliment?

For me to give four stars to a chain, you know it has to be good. Because I generally hate chain restaurants. I see most of them as noisy places you take your kids to drown out the every day noise of hearing "mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mom mooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmm!" My husband made the executive decision to take me here for my birthday. Generally we go someplace a few shades nicer and more expensive, but we've got an infant and a toddler, and limited babysitting, so this place was a last minute idea. My mother had told me that everyone she knew has raved about this place and granted, everyone she knows hangs out at the local Applebees and are practically senior citizens that go out at four to avoid the crowds. But I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.... And when I got there, I was pretty disappointed when I first saw the menu and nothing looked that appealing to me. I was a bit annoyed. We settled on mussels as an appetizer, and what do you know, they were tasty. The sauce was actually so good, that I wanted to drink it with a straw. I refrained and just used the spoon instead. The entire night went like this: hubs: this is actually pretty good. me: oh my god, dude, this is fantastic. lather rinse repeat. So yeah, I was pretty surprised. It's still a chain and it's not my favorite place in the world, but I would definitely go back. We weren't disappointed with any part of our meal or the service. Save for the end when our server seemed to disappear.

Bonefish Grill is a welcome addition to the Rt. 30 strip-mall scene. Yes it's a chain but the food is fresh and is cooked by a real person, to order, on the premises. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly. The bar is spot-on and mixed drinks are especially good. I'm giving three stars because, with the exception of the grilled fish entree, everything was over-sauced or over-seasoned. Also, because it's a chain, the menu lacks creativity and innovation. It's a fine place to go when you're in the mood for fish but don't expect to be wowed. The signature starter, 'bang bang' shrimp is vaguely Asian and tasty. It's very heavy so share it with a friend or two. Tuna sashimi is a winner and is served with traditional Japanese condiments AND a squiggle of aioli which I found distracting. Mine was sliced unevenly. The ceviche special was refreshing and light. For an entree I went with the grilled fish option which allows you to choose from among seven fishes and four sauces. It comes with a side of your choosing AND the vegetable of the night. I had grouper with chimichuri. The grouper was cooked perfectly and the grill imparted some serious flavor. The chimichuri was too oily and overpowered by cumin. Luckily it came on the side. The 'veggie of the night' was a ratatouille like zucchini dish that was topped with a healthy dose of parmesan cheese. The cheese was a serious misstep because a.) It's a fish restaurant and b.) The rest of the menu is decidedly un-Italian. Broccoli was cooked perfectly but was too buttery and too salty.
