Anthony's COAL Fired Pizza is the tops. I emphasize the COAL for good reason. I discovered Anthony's in Wilmington DE, and now visit this location almost weekly. I love the thin, dangerously-close-to-burnt crust. Tons of flavor. Pepperoni is my standard. Super tasty with a little zing. Their sauce is different than a "standard" pizza joint's. If you like tomatoes, you'll love their sauce. Love a pepperoni pie with a Peroni (Italian for Budweiser. [not really]). Great staff. Fast and friendly. Cool atmosphere. Lots of TVs.

My husband and I don't come here very often but when we do we ALWAYS have a fantastic time! Our favorite is the meatball ricotta pizza and wings, try the wings!!!. We had the white pizza this time, so good! The service is also amazing, the servers take time to chat and make you feel comfortable. Amanda was our server this time around... professional, knew her beer and a great attitude. You can't go wrong with great service, great food and beer!

My wife and I came here tonight - Sunday at 8pm. After waiting for a table to be wiped down, we were promptly seated by the hostess/waitress who said our server would be right with us. There were 3 other tables occupied in the entire restaurant (see pictures). Despite it being "dead", we waited 15-20 mins and still nobody came to acknowledge us. Not even a drink order. There were about 4 waitresses in the back of the restaurant and they appeared to be socializing with each other and maybe doing side jobs. Needless to say, we got up and left. I gave it two stars b/c we were here once in the past and the pizza was decent. That said, there are too many good places around here to tolerate bush league service. In all my years, I've never walked out of a restaurant - funny thing is, nobody even noticed (despite me waiving the menus on our walk out) or cared. The slogan is "Pizza Well Done". Maybe they should change it to "Service Rare". Hopefully a manager/owner acknowledges this review and can remedy the issues before they lose more business.

I always love Anthony's the meatballs are out of this world. I will get the bucket of masks one of these times. The pizza is a perfect because it is a coal fired oven. The wife and I love to have a date there on Fridays. Very highly recommend.

Went with my husband and two children on a recent Saturday evening. They were moderately busy, but had open tables including the one next to us who were on their second round of drinks and whose appetizers were coming out before we even had a server come to our table!! My husband approached the hostess who said she would send someone to our table but after another five minute wait we finally walked out. Anthony's pizza may be well done but at this location their service definitely isn't!!

Love their pizza! Well done pizza FTW! I normally top it with their arugula salad. I would highly recommend the wings, too!

We absolutely love everything about this place including the decor and the outside seating area. The pizza is amazing , definitely well done but that is the appeal bc the crust is crunchy and delicious. Also, the meatballs are great as well as the Italian salad with tuna. We have never had bad service....always quick, friendly and with a smile.

Amazing dinner! We had the roasted cauliflower pizza and wings. The pizza was very good and perfectly cooked. Just the right amount of seasoning and spice. Our server was wonderful and the hostess even picked up our umbrella we forgot and brought it to us at the door.

Recently, because I've been obsessed by making my own bread/pizza/naan,I had the star kissed idea of building my own brick oven in my backyard. How hard could it be ? I'd walk in Home Depot, buy the necessary elements, assemble it on a lazy spring weekend and be eating Difara quality pizza on Sunday night. A quick YouTube search on the subject quickly doused my lofty dreams. Turns out you'll need about $5000 and a masonry apprenticeship just to lay the groundwork. I guess it's just a grill and a pizza stone for this guy from now on. This, however, doesn't mean I can't get the crispy goodness from a brick oven. As a 94WIP listener, I can almost recite Anthony Gargano's Anthony's "Well Done" Ads. If south philly's "The Cuz" recommends a pizza I take notice. We decided to come to the Exton location because it worked for me and my sister in Downingtown. The place was smaller than I imagined but we got a table for 7 within a 1/2 hour. I was very impressed by their beer choices. I was more than pleased with my Lancaster Milk Stout. The menu is very brief. I like that they are focusing on pizza and not trying to appease every possible food combination like many chains do. There's pizza, wings, and a few salads or sandwiches. We came for the pizza and wings. The wing situation is odd, but I'm definitely not complaining. They put lightly seasoned wings in their oven and serve them without sauce ( not the odd part) but with a mound of sautéed onions and flatbread ( odd, but deliciously genius). Everyone loved them, specifically my hard to please brother-in-law. The pizza was as good as advertised. We ordered 3 large; a white pizza for the kids, a regular pizza with sweet peppers and onions, and one of their signature pies with hot peppers, meatball, sausage and ricotta. Good lord they were fantastic. I looked over at my son, who is also notoriously picky and he was digging into his 3rd slice. The service was quick, friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was perfect pizza place casual. Bonus points for the all time perfect photograph above the urinal (pictured). The only thing that keeps Anthony's from a 5star rating is the price. $130 for an order of wings, 3 large pies, 4 beers and a few sodas. I can't say the quality wasn't worth it and we had plenty to eat and some to take home but for someone like me, the price will keep me away unless it a special occasion. Regardless, I do recommend Anthony's highly. And for all my complaining about the price, it's still cheaper than building a backyard brick oven.

The restaurant is nice, the food is good and the service was fine. The only issue I have is they serve soda in bottles and there are no free refills. It just leaves a sense that they are squeezing their customers and really, those new soda fountains are inexpensive and probably wouldn't impact their margins.

Pizza is great, staff is helpful and courteous! Sat outside because why wouldn't anyone want to sit outside! Service was quick and the waitstaff pleasant and accommodating. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and I had never had coal fired pizza before. It was sooo good! I'm not a fan (usually) of a crispy crust, but this was fantastic! We brought our 5 year old twins and they loved it as well, we'll definitely be back!

The worst pizza I've ever had, hands-down. I have had better pizza at Dominoes and Pizza Hut, which says a lot, and I don't even prefer big brand pizza. But at least a brand-named pizza will be edible and taste like an actual pizza, and will not overwhelm my mouth with char. I got a margarita pizza for pick-up and when I tried to eat it, almost two-thirds of the pizza was burnt. Not grilled--burnt. I know this pizza is coal-fired, but when almost the entire pizza is burned black, you're getting ripped off. Every part of crust was fried to a crisp, and the burnt flavor was so disgusting I could not finish one piece of the EIGHTEEN dollar pizza that can barely feed two people. What a rip off with a capital R.

Starting out the hostess was completely clueless and really didn't seem like she knew what was going on. Our waitress was good, pizza was excellent. Wings were ok. If you're expecting traditional wings these are not. My husband did not like them he said they tasted horribly burnt. The atmosphere in here is very nice. I like it a lot and seems like could be a nice spot. Average to slightly above average overall,

Anothony's has become one of my favorite spots for work lunches. Our lunches are normally quite simple - we'll have pies and we'll have wings. The food deserves 5 stars because no matter what kind of group I go with, everyone always walks out impressed and satisfied. Here is what I have experienced Anthony's: Traditional pies - Solid 5 star! The pie itself is just perfectly done. Well balanced flavors with the crust at the right level of crispiness. I've had almost all the toppings and every single one was fresh, delicious and flavorful. The one that always stands out is "hot fingerling pepper". If you like spicy and want something different, do not miss that one. Specialty Pies - 5 stars for the ones I have tried: Meatballs & Ricotta and Eggplant Marino. That's MY definition of "Italian Soul Food"! Wings - 5 stars. And you must have them! They're not your typical wings and they're addictive. The Bar menu looks very impressive and I've noticed that they have a nice rotation going on from the craft beer lists on the board. Due to the nature of "work lunch", I haven't been able to take advantage of their half price craft beer ALL DAY Monday and Tuesday. Great Pizza, great wings and craft beer - you can't go wrong. 1 star taken off NOT because of the food, but the service at times. It's fully understandable that a long wait is expected at a place as good as this, but I wished that the servers could be a little understanding and accommodating with time limits on work lunches. They wouldn't take reservation, wouldn't allow call-ahead, and even wouldn't let us order while we were waiting. With all the competitors in the area, slow lunch processes will drive customers away, and I would hate to see that happen.

This was my first visit. I was surprised at the limited menu. It has the look of a somewhat nice restaurant but doesn't have any appetizers and minimal things on the menu besides pizza. The pizza was ok. Drinks are served in the bottle. The poor older woman at the table next to us had to as a gentleman at another table to open her drink for her. Manager seemed very nice, stopping by to ask if we needed anything. Unfortunately my kids and I like a place with more selection on the menu and will not be back.

Absolutely hands down the best pizza and service in town. Respectable beer list. Overall just great!

Good pizza and I like their Italian salad, but I will no longer order the salad for lunch because they repeatedly forget the foccacia with it (but only when I order take-out). The focaccia is one of the main reasons I order the salad in the first place! If they remembered it they would have a more regular customer, but I'm trired of being focaccia-less. :( It makes me wonder if they are forgetting items for other customers' orders also...

Prices are a bit high, but the eggplant marino pizza is very good. This is also a good location for Anthony's, it's nicer than the other one I've been to. It's a nice place for lunch, where you get a lunch pizza.

Great food. All the food is fresh, great pizza. My only problem is all drinks are sold by the bottle, so no refills.

After multiple visits to this establishment, as well as it's sibling location in Wayne, I'm indeed pleased to proffer 5 stars. The atmosphere is contemporary but diverse in everything from its music choice to the decor. Framed photos of movie stars from the golden age of the 40's and 50's, mingled with sports figures and jerseys. The overall theme seems to be, something for everyone. The service is brisk, with well trained and courteous servers. There is a sense of activity and purpose. Orders are called out from the semi-open kitchen area, reminding you that this place is, after all, about food. The food is exceptional. Easily the best pizza in the area, and notable for its charred crust. The traditional pies are offered with a fine diversity of toppings. My favorite is the "hot fingerling pepper," which is quite hot indeed. I'm still unsure of the variety of pepper. It is certainly a step above jalapeño in heat. But, while I believe the flavor and heat are consistent with Serrano chiles, these are far larger and longer than any Serrano I've known. It remains a mystery. (A mystery even my server could not dispel.) A full bar is offered, with a generous selection of beers by the bottle and on tap, together with a comely offering of wines. My most recent visit happened to be half price draft day. Begin with a crisp, family style salad and $3 for a Loose Cannon IPA served in a tall pilsner glass. Then add pizza with a wondrously charred crust and a fine set of toppings. Combine with cheerful service and a reasonable price, and you have my favorite casual dining experience in the area.

Went here looking for a quick bite while shopping. We sat at the bar because it was a twenty minute wait for a table. The food was very good and the customer service was great. They also had some pretty decent beers on tap. I would definitely go back again.

I generally am not very welcoming of chain establishments, favoring locals, but this place is a revelation. First, I love love love wood fired pizza, and this coal fired fad is a hit! The pizzas are great. But the real revelation is that wings don't really have to be that Buffalo staple of fire in your mouth. The wings are are oven fired, covered in a savory rosemary-ish bath and smothered in onions. Mmmmm, like momma used to make even before we knew what wings were! This place is a local pizza shop but with considerable sophistication including a tremendous beer menu even crafties will love.

We have had their pizza at other locations and enjoyed it. An ice storm just came through and thousands of people are without power. I called to make sure they have power and were open and was treated extremely rudely by an employee for asking such a "stupid" question. I requested his name, and he hung up on me. Unfortunately, we will never get to try this pizza, because I can't bring myself to eat somewhere that is so insensitive and rude.

The pizza here is terrible. The crust is burnt. When I worked pizza we threw away pizzas that came out like this. Anthony's serves and charges top dollar. My check was almost $50. Outrageous. I'll never be back. SMH at all the good reviews this place gets. I don't get it.

Really good pizza with attentive service however a pizza with two toppings and two ice teas for $28 bucks is steep

Ok, so I've dined here almost a half a dozen times in the past month and am just NOW getting to my review! I think I am withholding my review so that more people do not learn what an amazing place Anthony's is! The establishment is by no means large but come on, it's pizza, they turn over tables enough that the wait is never that outrageous. They are great for those with kids just because of that point, nothing takes too long to be brought to the table, even with the place being full. The beer list is very pressure for a pizza joint, Troegs Troeganator has been my favorite the past two visits. The wings are delicious and a great healthy starter for our two year old daughter since they are not hot and still boast with flavor! Let me full you in on a little seacret, the cauliflower pizza is ridiculously delicious! Never have we been disappointed with Anthony's and everyone we have invited to join us has loved it as well! Looking forward to the outside seating and open air dining that the front windows have to offer soon enough.

Oh my goodness! the pizza is outstanding! he atmosphere is so nice, very hip as well as family friendly. good bar that opens up to outdoor dining, which is really grat for summer. the pizza was fresh and crispy and I rate it the second best Pizza i've had, Next to Pica's in upper darby ofcourse. The only complaint and reason for one less star is the salad option are a bit minimal. But seriously, sooooo good!

Food was delicious pizza definitely worth a visit. Nice interior with good tunes playing in the background. Fun, handsome bar area. Expansive, open windows (weather permitting) overlooking surprising private patio with umbrellas. Servers were lovely. I give the overall experience 4 stars. Definitely try it!

I love this place. Since it has opened, I have probably been there at least 7-8 times, this past weekend however, the service was a little lacking. It was later on a Sunday afternoon-not quite lunch, but not quite dinner time either. The wait staff outside seemed bored, uninterested and they were not busy on the patio where we were seated. My waitress didn't bring my drink until after my pizza arrived, and we had already had our salad. I was a bit disappointed this visit in the service. However, we will be back because the pizza is cooked perfectly- a little well done is just how I like it! The salad is fantastic, the drink selection is varied. Just hoping the girls outside were having an "off day".

The pizza is consistent really good. And the wings are terrific - plenty of meat and smothered in roasted onions and seasoning! The outside tables are also nice and tend to be less noisy than inside when crowded.

  • Andres L.

I had the traditional pie and their wings. The pizza tastes great. Flavorful, perfect crunch to the crust, etc. It's what a great pizza should taste like. The wings come without "sauce" but instead with onions and a huge piece of flatbread(?). The wings were extremely salty. That piece of bread was also salty. To the point where I felt like I was chewing on morsels of salt. I'm glad I tried it though. Things to look out for: A small pie and small order of wings was $24. Some parts of the pizza and wings might not be edible because it's burnt, literally black. Service was excellent.

I was encouraged by the reviews on Yelp and this place has been recommended by friends so my daughter and I decided to give it a whirl today. There were very few patrons in the restaurant when we arrived which wasn't surprising because it's summer and it was early for dinner (5:30pm, maybe?). We were seated fairly immediately at an awkward spot near the front of the restaurant. The hostess handed us menus and kind of tossed the drinks menu on top of the condiments. I guess she figured I wouldn't want a drink because I was with my daughter? Odd. A young server came over, gave us silverware and plates and left. We waited. No one came to ask if we wanted anything to drink. No one brought us any water. No one came by to introduce themselves. We decided what we wanted and waited some more. There were three young people who I assumed (by their dress) were the servers sitting near the bar, chatting. No one stopped at our table. We eventually decided - despite the fact that it was pouring outside - to leave and take our chances elsewhere. As we left, the hostess saw us and didn't say a word, didn't ask if there was a problem, didn't ask if she could help. None of the other servers budged. I noted in one of the reviews below that the service was a problem here. That reviewer found enough reason to remain. Sadly, since we never got any food, I can't say the same.

My first time here. The lunch pizza was burned, dry, there was a tiny amount of cheese. What a disappointment.

Love Anthony's. Whenever I need to run to Marshalls or Cosmoprof, I can't help but go in for a slice of tomato and spinach pizza. Everything I have ever had from here was very good. Giving 4 stars because the seating area and general look inside is horribly tacky and poorly lit.

  • Jessica M.

I ordered a large pepperoni pizza. I admit that it was very good, but it was too expensive. $20 for a large, 1 topping pizza is a bit steep. I'd expect to pay that amount for a specialty pizza. There's nothing special about pepperoni. My friend raves about this place, so I'll try some of their other menu items, but I definitely won't order pizza again.

Best wings I've ever had...baked in the coal ovens and simply seasoned...no sauce as these are not buffalo wings. The pizza is top-notch. The sauce has a nice texture to it and is not over-cooked. I recommend the arugula pizza.
