This interesting old building with a quaint name beckoned us in after a day of wandering New Hope and Lambertville. We hoped for wine and a snack. Uh oh, French food, so probably nothing for vegans along with a lack of willingness to alter anything and an uncomprehending look -- and that was true. The daughter tried to make suggestions; the stern owner said that her beef was so good and organic that many vegetarians come to her for it. Hmmm. This comment seemed to floor the daughter too, due to her um-you-don't-get-it look at her mother. It actually was one of the funniest weird-vegetarian comments we have ever heard. We had a nice rose and a white Bordeaux (decent wine list of course) and sat outside by the railroad tracks at the little tables. It's definitely a rambling relaxing beautiful old space. French restaurants, please let me spend money on something other than wine. I want to, and I know your cooks have the ability to do wonderful things with plant-based foods if they would be just a little more open-minded and healthful.

A special place for special times, my wife and I go there when we want to treat one another to some of the best in the area. Right along the canal, this place has been here since so long ago that it looks as if it's grown there. Charming, elegant and warm, if you can go in the winter a seat by the fireplace is as romantic as it gets. French fare - all the usual and all wonderful - is what you'll find here. A wine list that goes on and on and never disappoints. . If you're looking for a special place for a quiet evening of fine dining in a wonderful and charming place, this is for you. Not fun for kids (it's very quiet and meals are prepared, not dished out) hire a babysitter and enjoy the night.

The newly renovated Golden Pheasant Inn is great on all fronts including "loving their locals". This has become a great local Tinicum venue for meeting neighbors and making new friends in the tavern where you can eat from a lower cost tavern menu or have full access to the full menu.

Was there for New Years Eve and the atmosphere is outstanding, but the food is just OK. This restaurant has so much potential with the location and history....it's too bad.

Three things about this restaurant based on a dinner Sat night with three friends. 1. Atrocious service. I was served after my friends had finished eating because the waitress 'goofed up' in her words and my glass of wine arrived after I had finished eating. 2. So so food, rather expensive for the quality and 3. A fabulous location along the water which explains its apparent popularity.

I have had the opportunity to live within walking distance of The Golden Pheasant for 12 years and have dined there many times pre and post renovation. I absolutely loved the old Bucks County charm that Michel and Barbara created for so long and counted TGP as one of my top 5 dining spots in the US. Surely, the character has changed since Britany, Blake and Jon took over but that is not a bad thing. I really like the workmanship of the renovation and much has remain virtually unchanged. The old bar in the tavern room was not one that frequently attracted a local crowd for a draft beer or glass of wine. The new bar is located just to the left of the entrance and is modern yet cozy and Kevin is one of the most attentive tenders I know. Go in once and introduce yourself and he will know your name on your return trip...and there will be a return trip. The food is very different from days gone by, and I will admit there are a few items I will not be ordering, but this gem is still very high on my list. The 4 rooms in the Inn are small but stunning and perfect for a romantic getaway. I hope this place is here for years to come!

I can't sing enough praises of Golden Pheasant Inn. The staff is professional, kind and super accommodating. The location is breathtaking. The food is beyond delicious! I've had my bday 2 years in a row here. Can't wait to try Sunday brunch! Bravo to this wonderful business. It's like family here. Oh, and the cocktails = yum!!

5 stars for sunday champagne brunch. Took my wife and daughter this sunday. We all had the sirloin and egg entree off the brunch menu which the waitress reccomended. She was right on. Perfect choice. Grass fed petit sirloin was perfect and tender and tasted great. They have surprisingly good coffee here too so bonus. Its $35 per person . Sit inside. Good view of the river and no pesky bugs flying around your table which i noticed happening to people outside.make reservations online and go here its a nice time. When you leave go right behind the inn to the Sand castle winery where they have $10 wine tasting( you get 12 different wines to try) entrance to winery is just over the small one lane bridge past the inn.

Went there for a valentine's dinner on Friday the 13th. The service was excellent along with our meal. We shared the roasted Romain lettuce appetizer which is outstanding. She had the chicken and I had the strip steak that was cooked to perfection. As this was our first time there I didn't realize that you can ask to have the pork bellies on the side (which I would have preferred.). The atmosphere is romentic with a roaring wood fire. Looking forward to trying their brunch in the spring.

We had a party of 8 for Mothers Day brunch. Wonderful mixed mushroom soup hi-lighted well received appetizers. My challah French toast was delicious with a side of roast potatoes and veggies. Around the table, other main courses were well received. The deserts were a slight letdown but the organic vanilla ice cream was smooth and delicious. What made the meal a clear 5 rather than a four was the warm, attentive and helpful service in a old country inn setting overlooking the Delaware river. We will return to sample the regular menu. Even the parking attendants were personable adjuncts to a fine early afternoon brunch.

A terrific find! This Inn is basically in the middle of nowhere but we were so glad we came across it. The menu is modern French and both the atmosphere and food are beautiful and elegant. Upon sitting down, the first thing that caught our attention was how professional and knowledgeable our server was. She was quick to answer questions, offer cocktail suggestions and knew when to let us be. The escargot was some of the best we have had. It was a fairly standard preparation but served without the shells and the garlic butter sauce had a good amount of parsley which added a great freshness. All entrees were decent portions, excellent preparations and were delicious. If there was a negative, it would be the desert. The apple cobbler pie was very good, but our slice was about 1/3 of what you see at most restaurants (4-5 small bites) We were pretty full after a large meal so this wasn't a big concern for us, but we would skip the desserts next time. Overall this place offers excellent food, prepared using the highest quality ingredients and the atmosphere is upscale but comfortable. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

I was here in July for a wedding. From what I understand, this is NOT a wedding venue. It is a bed & breakfast (with a high-end eatery & bar on the ground floor, and 4 amazing, clean, beautiful rooms above) that occasionally holds small weddings and large events. I cannot give any advice on wedding planning or pricing, but much love for their rooms and their event staff. . CHECKIN - fluid. I barely remember it. What I do remember is pulling up to the aroma of roasting meat, so you know I was already kind of turned on. - There is some model bartending on Friday afternoons. We were confused when this apparition who floated through the sunlight greeted us and stood behind the bar. - We were pretty much left alone after being led to our rooms. Until dinner that evening, we were the only ones there. . ---- ROOMS ---- - Seriously pretty. Pinteresty. Very clean, well decorated, and the bathrooms were gorgeous with their large, glass-encased shower. - There is a huge master room on one end of the hall (this is where the bride and groom stayed) and three smaller rooms on the other end. It could accommodate four couples altogether. - Tons of light pouring in, wonderful decor, free books to read, cable tv, L'Occitane products, air conditioning (or heating). - The walls are a little thin, so you can hear your neighbors talking. Luckily, we all knew each other so it wasn't a problem. . ---- EVENT PERSONNEL ---- - (Minus a half star.) To be honest, up until the wedding that following evening, the event personnel was missing. We set everything up ourselves during the day (chairs, tents, decorations, etc) -- which was fine. But at some points patrons kept coming in, looking for the folks in charge. We had to lock the doors to stop strangers from asking us questions we couldn't answer about Sunday Birthday Brunches or why no one was answering the phones. - During the wedding, however, the staff was fantastic. From what I remember. I was drunk. ---- PERKS ---- - Golden Pheasant is right along a bike path and a small (albeit dried up) river. You can rent FREE BIKES if you stay! PS: The bikes are gigantic, adorable lady-style road bikes; mine was bright green and had a huge white basket. You can bike across the bridge into Frenchtown, or go on to eternity. ---- NOTES ---- - Bridesmaids beware -- my bathroom was very dimly lit, so makeup was basically applied in the dark. The master room, however, has a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE bathroom the size of my friends Brooklyn apartment. It had tons of natural lighting, so you should put your face on there. - Also, I do have to (minus another a half star) for this, which is not the Inn's fault -- the lawn was actually not the best place to hold a weekend summer wedding, because the single road to the bridge curves around the inn. And there are a LOT of motorcyclists in Erwinna, apparently. The ceremony was constantly interrupted by Harleys. . All in all, a beautiful experience. I would probably go back if I needed to run away from NYC to the middle of nowhere with a significant other for a day or two. Especially after reading the other reviews (and especially after having smelled that roasting meat upon arrival), I would love to try their food. The menu prices seemed super affordable, comparable to a standard NYC meal.

Hard to believe that such a lovely restaurant with great cuisine exists in the little town of Erwinna, PA. But it does and didn't disappoint. The food was top notch and the service was wonderful. A lot of the ingredients are locally sourced and grown. The location right by the Delaware River is lovely. Well worth a stop if you're in the area. Right across the bridge and a mile down the road from Frenchtown, NJ! This place beats any of the restaurants in that town.

We were really looking forward to a terrific dinner last night, especially after reading some very positive reviews on yelp. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience. Our starters: my VA oysters were excellent. My wife's mussels were not fully cooked with many of the mussels not opened. One was bad, which can happen. When she spoke up to our waiter, he apologized but offered to do nothing. For our main course, my Scottish salmon was very good, but not very warm. My wife's dish was not warm at all. The greens were cold. On to coffee...my wife's coffee was cold. I think they had it out for my wife (joking). The room we ate in was terrific and we had a great table in front of the fireplace. The staff were friendly and polite. I was just surprised on a really slow night with few people there (3 days after New Years Eve) that they couldn't keep the food warm. Would I give them another shot...yes. I think we just hit them on an off night.

I got married here in early October, and it was just wonderful. Brittany was so helpful and we got everything set up quickly and efficiently. The food was amazing - let me tell you about it. We set up a wine and cheese bar for before the ceremony (which was supposed to be outside, but it rained that day, so it was inside), which was just wonderful. We performed the ceremony in their beautiful dining room area, and had two large tables set up in the sunroom for all of our guests (it was about 60 people). First was a beautiful salad, then a beautiful autumnal soup, then three choices for entrees: crab cake, french toast, or a goat cheese omelet. Everyone loved the food, and the staff was extremely accommodating: they even made up two vegan roasted squash dishes and vegan soups for our friends that were, with no extra charge to our bill. The alcohol was awesome (they have all local breweries on tap) and affordable. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to have a moderately sized wedding that is both affordable and elegant. This place is amazing. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is magical - they even have a garden patio out back, so once the rain stopped, we were able to spend a couple of hours outside drinking and hanging out. Loved it.

I am heading here tomorrow night and it's the 6th visit in 8 months. Food. Amazing. Flavors. Combinations. Perfect. Service- we have Hannah and for us Hannah is the perfect server. She makes us feel like we are home and that we are the most important couple in the room. The place- amazing fireplace in the winter and love love love sitting outside for brunch in the summer and fall. We drive 30 minutes to get there. Salivate all the way. And leave only because we have to. Try it. It will not disappoint

Second trip in a short period of time and the same great experience. It's fantastic when a great restaurant turns out to meet the same high expectations with a different cast of employees when you visit. The first trip had us craving more, so we stopped back again after work. Like last time, the menu highlighted many of their local fresh food. In addition, there were many seasonal ingredients that were included on a separate sheet in the menu. Our server Maria as well as the rest of the staff were very friendly, as we've come to expect from this restaurant. We were given an excellent education on the menu and what was available. Drinks were quickly refilled and we felt very welcome. For starters, my girlfriend had the oysters. They were incredibly fresh and sweet. Golden Pheasant has rotating oysters picked for their quality. Typically, one East Coast and one West Coast variety. I had the seafood bisque to start, and it was perfectly flavored with a large variety of finely cut seafood and a light cream. For our entrees, my girlfriend had the Lamb Shank, which was "slow roasted, fall of the bone, delicious." I had the Lancaster County Beef Strip Loin, it was cooked past medium rare like I ordered. However, that didn't impact the overall quality of the meal and the béarnaise sauce & the sides complimented the meat perfectly. Once again, we were extremely happy with the experience and highly recommend the Golden Pheasant! This is one restaurant we'd go out of our way to visit!

i have never been disappointed here. service? impeccable food? delicious, fresh, classic flavors drinks? also great selection of wine and spirits and craft beers I go here when I want to eat simply good new american food and just don't want to drive to Philly. It can be romantic, it can be casual with family and friends, it is an overall wonderful setting in the "country". The best oysters around. seasonal menu so it's hard to say what is good when we order the specials. It's worth the price. I would say that we never spend under $100 for 2. Go here, you won't regret it-seriously.

I have found my new FAVE Sunday brunch spot! This place was under renovation for 9 months and I had never visited until last weekend - I WISH I had discovered it sooner. Every time we drove by we thought 'we must check it out' - do yourself a favor and make a booking! Sunday brunch is a prix fixe menu and it is worth every dollar and more. We started at the gorgeous bar with a super generous pour of champagne and enjoyed the gorgeous surroundings and the view out to the stream in the back. We were joined by some fun friends and that included a round of bellinis (made with locally sourced fresh peaches) and the bloody marys were a work of art! Our meals were totally delish with 3 courses and all courses sourced by local, sustainable, organic farms. Eating local and organic is important to me and every mouthful was amazing. I know I am gushing... but so was everyone at our table. It is also GF friendly (including a wicked dessert of flourless chocolate torte). The Golden Pheasant Inn omelette was filled with delicious goats cheese and was almost florescent yellow due to the local eggs - I highly recommend it. Make a reservation, get there early and enjoy a drink at the bar before you enjoy the lovely surroundings, exceptional service and delicious food. It is my new Sunday brunch spot for sure.

This is a farm to table restaurant. They take their mission very seriously, maybe a tad too much. The service was very good and the server was more than happy to explain all the items on the menu and provide recommendations. Also gave us space to relax before ordering, etc. The room is very well done, restored farmhouse/inn style. Nice big windows that take advantage of being on the banks of the Delaware River. The food was good. Two people at the table had local weeds for salad and raved about them. One was the buds of ferns and the other was arched thistles. We were told they would only be available or one week more. I passed and enjoyed my arugula salad with fresh beets. My main course was local duck. There was not much on the pâté and I probably had them over cook it. My wife enjoyed the salmon. She raved about the sauce. The desserts were good, lemon tart and a local made ice cream loaded with bits of chocolate etc.

We live across the river and, in frequent trips up and down the road the restaurant's on, watched the renovations taking place for months... even stopping, several times, to ask the workers when they thought the restaurant would be open. When we finally got to go there last night with "foodie" friends our anticipation and patience were rewarded with the most pleasant dining experiences we all agreed we'd had in a very long time. It could have started out badly when I asked our dinner companions if the room - to the left of the jewel-like bar- where we'd been seated hadn't gotten a little too loud for quiet conversation. They agreed it had and I said I'd go and request to be reseated. I went and asked one of the hostesses who, after consulting with another person, said that she would be more than happy to move us. We wound up in the lovely dining room to the right of the bar. It was done seamlessly with no fuss and really helped set the tone for what was to come. And that was excellent food all around from their take on onion soup to the mussels and my bone marrow appetizer to the more than ample slow cooked pork shank, which two of us had and the local duck and day boat scallops. The desserts were a fitting end to a wonderful evening. We 'll be back!

First of all this is a beautiful dining area with a view of the river. The food, while initially well plated and tasteful, failed quickly under the progression of the meal. Evidently these folks are just line cooks in the fancy jackets. The crab cakes, billed as Dungeness were the raw scrapple textured posers from the airport cafe of the '80's. If, at the heart of this seafood masa there was once a lump of true dungeness, it had spent about 20 minutes too long in the blender. A prime ingredient, disrespected or unappreciated. Then the poached salmon, surely not poached but broiled. Do they actually not know the difference or do they think we do not? The meal, brunch for $35, was expensive enough that it should at least be prepared by those who have a clue. The service was decent, a bit stuffy in spots but decent. In hopes that the owners are reading this, fire the kitchen and get some cooks that justify the beauty of your space and the prices on your menu.

I am admittedly not a big Yelper, but I would be remiss in not writing a review for the 5 star experience we had at the Golden Pheasant Inn. We stopped in on our way home from work one evening, as we have wanted to for years. The location is spectacular, with views of the Delaware river. Unfortunately, we have learned that some of the restaurants along River Road/ Rt. 32 can be hit or miss for dining experiences. Everything about this restaurant is top tier. Exterior and interior are a comfortable combination of class and warmth. No detail has been overlooked, and I cannot fault an establishment which uses L'Occitane products in their restrooms. Mary was our server and enhanced every aspect of our experience. She was friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Servers are a restaurant's face to the customer, and can make or break a restaurant's perception. Hang on to this one, she is a gem! Host and others checked on us often and made us feel very welcome. Now, since we came for the food, let's get on to the good stuff... I am a fan of any restaurant which sources local and sustainable food. The Golden Pheasant clearly does, and it shows in their menu. Ingredients are fresh and artfully prepared. I always prefer my food to be local, organic and responsibly sourced. We shared the 5 cheese plate as an appetizer, where you may choose your preferred out of a selection. Cheese plates and charcuterie platters are my achilles heel, and I've sampled many. This may be the first time I've taken the time to note the name and origin of the cheeses I've sampled so that I can get these at home! The Ewe's Blue, a Roquefort style cheese from Old Chatham Sheepherding Company is to die for. You don't really have to make that commitment, however, you can just as easily order it direct from their website ;-) I had the pheasant for dinner (Golden Pheasant = pheasant, easy choice for me!) and it was delicious. I think fowl, while a staple food, can be incredibly difficult to prepare, given the fine line between undercooked and dry. This was perfectly done and and the accompaniment of collard greens was excellent. Their dessert menu is tempting, especially as it includes a redux of the cheese plate. As I'm not particularly tempted by sweets, I would have ordered that again, but *sigh*, one must maintain their girlish figure. And the boyfriend looked at me like I had taken leave of my senses. I instead settled for another Winter White martini. After a long day at the office, or even a short day of doing nothing, those martinis should be readily available. Please let me know if your bartender makes house calls. All in all, a perfect experience. We will assuredly be back, and are looking forward to it. We may even do a night away from home to sample their Inn for a relaxing, romantic getaway.

Georgia and I had a great meal at the Golden Pheasant in Erwinna, PA the other night. Dungeness Crab sandwich is great. With the Cole Slaw on the side, it's easier to eat. Learned that after the fact:-) Both the Dinner and Tavern menus are wonderful. Imaginative, locally sourced, meals, served in a beautiful atmosphere, by lovely people. The organic burger was like nothing I'd ever had. Local, grass fed organic meat. I don't eat a lot of meat so when I do, it has to be exceptional and this makes the grade for sure.

I had been wanting to go to The Golden Pheasant Inn for years and last week got my chance. It was restaurant week, and with several friends I booked a table. I expected a good experience, but am delighted to report that the evening was absolutely great on every level. The place is a treat for all the senses. It was closed for renovations for a long time, but the result of the massive upgrade is a spectacular space that preserves the historic feel. . Yes, it is Bucks County old stone house cozy, but it is in no way stuffy or dull. The dining rooms are light filled, spacious and airy-- with tables far enough from another and chairs comfy enough to sink into. The dining room and the adjacent bar both say " sit down and relax in style" There are windows everywhere and wonderful river or canal views. We watched a spectacular sunset over the Delaware as we sipped our cocktails. The food combines American and classic French elements to produce a truly unique and satisfying gustatory experience. Local providers are emphasized. Local and organic are the watchwords in this kitchen for sure. Presentation is elegant and the service is unobtrusive and informal yet thoroughly professional. The dinner menu offers a variety of amazing salads. I tried the Grilled Romaine Blue Cheese and Walnut Salad which featured Old Chatham Ewe's blue cheese, candied walnuts, and lavender, thyme and honey for an amazing fusion of flavors. My entree was organic Lancaster county chicken roasted with honey and grain mustard, and organic collard greens, Served with local fingerling potatoes and beautifully presented, it was a heavenly meal. I'm not even going to describe the desserts, except to say that a special request for fruit for dessert from a calorie conscious member of our party was happily accommodated. The coffee was excellent and though all tables were occupied, nobody nudged us to move along and we lingered as the last rays of the sun set on the Delaware. I can't wait to go back and try their Sunday brunch.

Had a very nice meal on Sat. 11/1. Our waitress, Yolanda, rescued us from a very loud couple who were sitting next to us and moved us to a quiet table by the window. The only negative I could say was that the general volume of the room was quiet loud. Other than that, food and service were great! will go back.

Updating from a previous review, my wife and I had our wedding and reception at The Golden Pheasant about a week ago, and thanks to Brittany, Sally, and the rest of the staff at the inn, everything went amazingly well. For a party of 110-115, the Inn was just about the right size, and the guests are still commenting on the quality of the food and service. Setting up the particulars for the wedding reception, the management and staff worked dynamically with us to ensure that all the guests were comfortable, and that other vendors had easy access. Brittany was also very helpful in suggesting some local vendors for a wedding cake and rental equipment. All in all this is a great location to hold a private party, wedding reception or otherwise. The inn and it's surroundings are beautiful and charming in their own right, meaning minimal decoration was required. That, and the quality and selection of food, expert service, and access to a full bar with a skilled bartender put the Pheasant on a different level than more traditional party venues or banquet halls.

Not my kind of place at all but I'm trying to objective. The atmosphere was typical for a Pennsylvania Inn style restaurant in the Doyle' s town, French Town,Bucks country area...Stale and stuffy. Others would describe it as quint and cozy. I never was really into the whole idea of feeling like I'm eating in someones living room. First thing I noticed when I got there is they had one of those menus with like 7 or 8 items on it...I hate that but I guess that's typical of an "inn" type restaurant on a Sunday. Choice of Spinach salad, or two different soups, one of which being potato leak. I didn't like any of the choices so I just order the soup and gave it to my wife. I ordered a Weyerbacher Merry Monks Abby and I was happy that they served some local craft beers. For my entree I selected the French Toast on challa bread. It wasn't good...it wasn't bad...Just very bland and not sweet at all. I think it was supposed to be this way but the center of each piece was runny and raw. The Maple syrup wasn't very sweet to offset the toast either. The toast was served with some fresh fruit....and it was fresh fruit. I really wished I ordered what my wife got...The sirloin. I tried hers and it was very tasty. I would have finished that sirloin in about four or five bites though because it wasn't really all that big. Everyone else in my party seemed to enjoy their meals. Two people got the salmon and another ordered the muscles. No one was raving about their meal but no one was complaining either. I'm pretty sure dessert comes with your entree but I really don't eat dessert so I ordered the Pears for my wife and she ordered the chocolate mousse. She told me the mousse was unbelievably good but the pears weren't that great. Everyone that ordered the pears didn't finish the dessert. I should have begged them to order off the tavern menu...they had burgers and bar food. I think I would have liked that better. Staff was O.K. and friendly. Everything was served hot and timely...Kinda what was expected. Provided extra bread for our table at our request and only forgot one item. The bill was around $200 for 5 people with a total of 2 drinks. About what we expected. I did order a screwdriver with my french toast...they didn't go light on the Vodka which made things a little less boring. I'm giving 3 stars because although I didn't really love my meal...it's typically not the kind of dining I enjoy to begin with. My final thought is that this place caters to a more mature crowd. 55+

Our new favorite place. We arrived without reservations late Saturday night and luckily got a nice table near the canal. This was our first time here since the renovation and we were impressed. The dining room was nicely appointed and comfortable. Tables and chairs were not overcrowded in the dining room. We started with a dozen oysters on the half shell; a regular menu item. Wonderful. Next up were the soups. both were excellent. Onto the entrees; The wife had the salmon and I had the pork chop special. Again each was properly cooked, and paired with appropriate sides. To top it off, the service was stellar. Neither overbearing nor aloof.

Summary: On a scale of 1-10, the food was a '4' and the service/ambiance was a '2'. Worse dining experience in the area in years. Our group of 4 was really looking forward to our dinner here, on a nice location on the Delaware River. We ventured up to Erwinna on a beautiful day, and the place seemed hopping for an early Saturday evening. We soon realized that a wedding was going on in the "rustic" side of the building, so we were seated in the newer "greenhouse" side. Wouldn't have been a problem, except for this little band that was playing really awfully loud lounge music in the room in-between. Fortunately, we only needed to deal with that for 1/2 hr - but it was so bad that we almost turned around. Our hostess (who I believe is the owner), didn't help the situation by making us feel that we were intruding on her evening. It usually is nice to be greeted with a smile, but she didn't crack one the whole evening. Makes you wonder why she is in the business. The food for the evening was below average - well below what you would expect given the entree prices were in the $25+ range. I was anxious to try their special Kobe beef filet with a "Marco Polo" sauce ($32), which was very disappointing. The beef was very tough, unlike my expectations. The Marco Polo sauce was nothing more than a simple green peppercorn sauce. Thank goodness for it though, or I may still be chewing. The group in general also rated their food no more than a 'five', which also included rack of lamb, which was way undercooked (nearly raw). The kitchen may have been worn down from the wedding, but there were so many other things that could have made the evening nicer. The unhappy hostess, on several occassions decided to do a little room re-arranging (which is fine), but get someone to help you pick up a table so it doesn't sound like fingernails on a chalkboard as you drag it across the stone floor! - which she did twice right next to us. We also unfortunately had little ankle biters running around near us - at least they were having a good time. Finally, we waited about 30 minutes for our check - after asking for it no less than 4 times. Couldn't wait to get out of there. Now, to dull the pain, they at least have a nice wine menu and we enjoyed our selection from that. But, overall, the meal was extremely expensive for the quality, service, and ambiance. This Golden Pheasant is a bit overcooked.

i had heard great things about this restaurant. long story short: it was really disappointing and they should stick to burgers without trying to put on these pretentious airs and charge an arm and a leg for their food. stop trying so hard. the service was really nice, with the exception of on of our two female bussers. she gave us attitude when we declined dessert! the atmosphere was stuffy - like you were sitting in church. the food, with the exception of the burgers, was way overrated in their estimation and not worth the exorbitant prices. the mussels, which i was interested in trying for the first time, were fishy and not fresh. (my friend mentioned it to our server, and he kindly took it off the table and our bill.) duck confit with lentils? meh. the burgers were pretty good. grass-fed. rich. huge. i got the burger with sunny-side-up duck egg and smoked bacon. delicious. i couldn't finish it. the only downside is that the burger doesn't come with any sort of side. you get to choose one of four fry choices. (we went with plain but they have blue cheese/rosemary and other herb/goat cheese.) i will not be going back. the end.

The Golden Pheasant serves very good food. They appear to consider themselves gourmet, but do fall a bit short of that. The food is good but I do feel the prices are on the high side for what they serve. The decor is very pleasant and the staff is friendly and efficient. Overall I can only give 3 stars.

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at the GFI. I have to admit that I was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews online but i was more than pleasantly satisfied after our visit. We stayed in the cottage suite which was by far the biggest space we have ever seen in a b&b. Definitely worth the extra few bucks. The only few items in the room that i was slightly unhappy about was the color of the carpeting, the lack of the blinds on the bedroom door, the low flush power of the toilet and the lack of an sizable LCD tv. I did however like the little chock-skies albeit sometime odd, decorations. The room has a kitchenette and a mini fridge that was filled with continental breakfast items. The room was also very private. The rest of the inn was very cute. The path along the stream was nice and quaint and the room had a nice deck which would be perfect for sitting out on in summer months. The reviews that I read about dinner were all over the place, so here is my honest opinion. The bartender/host gave us a seat directly in front of the fire place. The atmosphere and the decor were very cute. The service wasn't 1st class but it was very close. The chowder soup and the mussels were both very good but the broths were a little thin. The steak was very yummy and so was the crab cake. We even took a crab cake to go. The salmon wasn't bad it just wasn't what we were expecting so my gf only took a few bites. At the end of the meal the manager came to the table and asked us if everything was ok with the salmon entree. We didnt complain about the dish because we believed the issue was more preference. The price for two soups, three apps, two entrees, 1 dessert and 4 sodas came to $140.00 before tip. I wasn't shocked by the price for the quality of food but it was a tad on the high side. All in all the b&b and the restaurant was a great getaway. The price tag for the day plus a few tips came to $440.00 but was well worth it. A few things could have been better but overall its an easy 4 stars. Hope this helps.

This review is for both the inn and the food. I had the great fortune of staying here for my friend's wedding a couple of week's ago (I was in the Tohickon Room). Sally was really lovely in getting the reservation set up and also making plans for my very late night arrival when no one would be present. My friends stayed in the Delaware Room (the largest of the 4 rooms), also amazing and with a small sitting area that made it perfect for handing out while getting ready. The converted old stone building is gorgeous, and all the rooms seemingly furnished entirely from Restoration Hardware. While it was pouring rain, the view of the river was lovely. And breakfast! An off-menu breakfast is provided (free) every morning except Sunday if you are staying in the Inn. The scrambled eggs were the best I've ever had anywhere. Not sure if it's just because they come from the chickens around the corner or some other magic recipe, but I'm dreaming about them back in California. The only downside at all to my stay was the lack of sound proofing (hey, it's an old building). I could hear both my next door neighbors talking, and some noise from the 3rd floor. Definitely not enough to keep me from staying in such a lovely place, but if you're sensitive to such things, be aware. Loved my room and the staff. Kevin at the bar is great too, finding me a last minute sewing kit in addition to being a top notch bar keep. Can't wait to find another excuse to be in Northern PA and stay here again.

Best restaurant in Bucks County. Fantastic locally sourced, fresh creative and delicious food. Nice portion sizes, the menu changes often and the service is fantastic. The space is beautifully renovated! Always a treat.

I'm so bummed I feel I have to write this! We've been to the Golden Pheasant before it was renovated, and each time it was one of my most memorable dining experiences of the year. I used to rave to my friends that they HAD to go! As a local I got to watch the place close, get entirely renovated over a summer, and then open, looking spectacular from the road. We decided to go there for my birthday, and spent a very disappointing evening there. First, the renovation totally destroyed the character of the place. Bucks County is full of quirky, old, historic inns and now I felt like I was eating at a mall Restoration Hardware. But ok, that's just looks; how about the food and service? This is where I really was saddened. My entree was so local (I totally support that movement) that I got to crunch on dirt from carrots not washed well enough. It was so embarrassing to have to point that out to the waitress, who suggested I was crunching on pepper. I had to enlist my wife to taste and back me up. The service was slow and sparse; most of the three hour meal seemed to be spent staring at empty drink glasses and bread basket. When places are busy I am understanding, but it was a weeknight and the place was half empty. I even had to get up to hunt someone down to get our check, and almost came to arguing with this waitress who had decided in her mind that I really needed to sit back down and wait for more coffee. It would have been nice to have been given a break on something for the dirty meal, but no such thing was offered, and I've been in other places of similar price where such an accusation of dirt in the food would have brought the chef up. Perhaps my experience was unusual, but I certainly am not coming back, nor am recommending this place to anyone anymore.

Great atmosphere- Really Disappointing Food My husband and I had been anxious to try out the Golden Pheasant after the renovations and having the children take over the business. First the atmosphere. The place looks great. Clean, crisp, well thought out decor. With fires going in fireplaces in two rooms, a cozy new bar area and a completely renovated dining area area with lots of windows, we thought the food would be up to par with the decor. We were seated at a table with lovely linens. We were told that the Golden Pheasant was a "farm to table" restaurant using local sources for the food. The menu looked good and gave the local sources for ingredients for almost every dish. Sadly, the food was lacking in many respects. We started off ordering salad and an appetizer of octopus. The salad had greens, blue cheese, dried fruit and candied nuts. The greens looked very fresh and it was a generous size. However, there was not enough dressing or other ingredients to make the salad taste as good as it sounded on the menu. Having had similar versions of this salad at many restaurants, this salad could have been delicious if there were more generously garnished. I enjoy grilled octopus and I have cooked and grilled it as well so I was excited to see it on the menu. The presentation was nice- a good chunk of octopus accompanied by a nice cherry tomato salad. The flavor of the octopus and marinade complemented each other but the octopus was extremely chewy - one would expect a bit of chewiness but it was more than I would have expected. In addition, the thicker part was raw in the middle. Next came our entrees of duck breast and pheasant. The duck was tender and cooked to perfection but the sauce was so sour and overpowering that I still tasted the sauce an hour after the meal. The duck came served on a bed of wild rice. Sadly the sauce destroyed the flavor of the rice and the wild rice was a bit undercooked or dried out- it should have had a little softer but firm texture. It also came with 2 pieces of Brie rolled in phyllo pastry- they tasted like they had been stored in a freezer or refrigerator a bit too long although they looked perfectly browned. But it was far better than my husband's pheasant. I'm not an expert at cooking pheasant but I assume it was undercooked. It was so tough that my husband could not even cut it off the bone with a steak knife. Again the sauce was overpowering and sour and peppery. The kale was tasty though. When the waiter came and checked on us, we told him that the pheasant was tough. We seldom say anything even if we feel the food is not up to our standards but we felt compelled to tell the waiter about the pheasant. He pleasantly stated that pheasant was a tougher bird but agreed to tell the chef and offered my husband a free dessert. Although I think that he should not have charged us for the entree we went along with his proposal. For dessert, I ordered the Apple Betty cake and my husband ordered the pumpkin cheesecake. We chose those two desserts because they were made by the restaurant- we find that so many desserts that are not made on premises are sub-par so we tend to order desserts that are made in-house. The pumpkin cheesecake was flavorful and had a nice texture. The Brown Betty cake had nicely cooked apples in it but the "gingerbread" crust tasted flavorless and a little like lard instead of a buttery gingery crust. Sadly, we will not be returning - usually we give a restaurant a second try but there were so many things wrong with the meal, we won't be returning.

Loved it.

Very nice atmosphere. Service and food were very good. Reserved a table by the fireplace which was nice. Super expensive.!!

Had another amazing dinner at the GPI. The staff is always friendly and the food perfectly prepared. Looking forward to the warmer weather and the terrace being open. The cheese plate, mussels and French onion soup are always favorites.
