I have always enjoyed the sloppy duck. Their food prices are reasonable although I wouldn't recommend trying to order food when they're super busy at dinner time. Obviously they're a seasonal business so going there at the beginning of the summer I wouldn't recommend you'll probably be waiting a while, But I'm going to give them four stars because I have never had bad service here they seem to employ good employees that at least put a smile on the face and treat customers with respect. At night it's more of an older crowd hang out but I enjoy that not having to deal with 21 or 22-year-olds taking shots for three hours in a row. I will definitely be there this summer.

The Sloppy Duck...what an unfortunate name for a restaurant! Especially one that's pretty good! Plus, I get confused because there's like ten different names for this place. Jr's on the Bay, Tiki Bar, Sloppy Duckeroo (I made that last one up). I digress.... Don't let the name throw you off because the food is actually pretty good and you can't beat the view of the bayfront! I've been here a couple times before and I can't stray away from those darn crab cakes. Apparently the word on the street (or from my Pops) is that the crab cakes are the owners specialty dish that she hand makes herself. They are fabulous! Incredibly crisp on the outside and well seasoned on the inside. I always get the Crab Cake Salad served with Honey Mustard and it's just a fab mix! Service is always great as well. Which is, of course, always appreciated! You definitely MUST sit on the deck downstairs or upstairs if you come to eat on a nice day because it's a beautiful view! That's part of Erie's charm:) So tourists....go here! I know Erieites are already keen on this place....well...at least my Pops is!

Crab cakes were good! Service not great. We arrived at 5:45 on a Friday and the deck was empty but the hostess wouldn't let us sit out there because the tables were reserved?? Apparently there were tables open because several people behind us went out that didn't have reservations... Don't recommend unless you have "reservations".

Sloopy Duck is located near a park where the city holds free concerts on certain Tuesdays. We went to the Sloppy Duck during one of those events. We were told by the receptionist that all tables were booked for the night, even the barstools were all reserved including the stools at the tiki bar. The place was emptý and its only six o'clock, too strange. In the end we did get a table (last one they said), we enjoyed are meal while all around us were empty tables and barstools tne whole time.

The Sloppy Duck deserves a better rating than what the one or two star ones have pulled it down to so I gave it five to help with that! We have been here each June over the past three years (during our daughter's annual soccer tournament) and have had fine service and great food each time. If you like eating near the water this place cannot be beat for atmosphere since it is in the marina on Presque Isle Bay. We celebrated the longest day of 2015 by watching a beautiful sunset over Lake Erie in the outdoor dining room upstairs (our favorite). I had blackened mahi mahi which was finished with a delightful apple-cranberry chutney (disclaimer: chutney is my weakness) which came with a side of lightly sauteed squash and a baked potato. My daughter enjoyed her lightly seared and mildly seasoned scallops (today's special). Dessert was a lovely little portion of key lime pie drizzled with caramel as a nice touch. Please don't be dissuaded by the low ratings if you want to try someplace different.

Hands down, favorite place for lunch in Erie. I grew up here but live in Arizona now and every time I go home to visit my mom we head down to this spot. We sit on the patio overlooking the docked boats and the lake. Its fantastic and a perfect stress reliever. I always get the salad with steak fries. Its a crazy amount of iceberg lettuce, but the homemade ranch, loaded fries and chicken make the salad super yummy. But the food is just a side order when compared with the view, honestly just go here for the view, sit on the patio and order up a couple drinks and spend some time dreaming about being on a boat lazily lounging in the sun!

It was okay, nothing to scream and kick about. The fact that its near the water gives it a huge plus. Food was okay, service was okay, and surroundings were okay.

I was passing through Erie for work and stopped here for lunch on the water. I took a seat outside where the view of the boats and water was great. For lunch I ordered the crab cake salad which I was very disappointed with. There are a few reviews on here praising their crab cakes which I can't quite understand. They're loaded with imitation crabmeat and so much filler, I could taste any lump crab. I ate half of one and had to call it quits. I suppose I'm spoiled being so close to great crab cakes in New Jersey and Maryland.

While up in Erie for a short getaway, I had dinner at Sloppy Ducks with my wife and her family. First things first, the view is great and can't be beat from the upper deck. While there is nothing fancy about the presentation, the food is great. I had the blackened mahimahi with pineapple chutney. It was done very well with a lot of flavor. It also came with a half an ear of corn which was some of the sweetest corn I've ever had. The service was sufficient. Overall, a very good place to eat in Erie especially on a nice night around sunset.

Went here on 6-19-2014. We got.seated quickly, then waited 25 minutes with no waitress, we never even got a drink order in. We asked 3 different servers about a waitress each of them said they would get ours. No one ever showed...so we left. REALLY BAD SERVICE!!!!!!!! I would give no stars if possible.

I'm a local- I went to the Sloppy Duck to sit outside on a gorgeous summer day so I could look out at the bay while having lunch. To preface, I did have a less than stellar experience for lunch last summer when I sat at the bar for 12+ minutes before my presence was acknowledged. BUT- that was a service issue, and there were very few patrons in at the time. Yesterday I ordered: 3 "Crab Cakes" from the appetizer menu for $9.00 (not including tax or tip). Here's what I got (seriously??): The "Crab Cakes" were mostly Krab... you know, the whitefish you can get that's made to look and "sort of" taste like crab meat (assuming you've never actually TASTED real crab meat)? Now I realize that I wasn't sitting on the Chesapeake Bay, or docked over in Annapolis, but C'mon! $3 per bready, krabby cake?? No, no, no... take it off the menu SD. For that price you can easily purchase pasteurized lump crab that would kick the TAR out of what you served me... The view? Pitiful - unless you like looking at docked boats 5 slips deep, obscuring the view of the beautiful bay. So much potential, but until more local folks demand more from their waterside dining experiences, I'm guessing Erie will never rise to it's potential. I urge you to visit other waterside restaurants outside of Erie. You'll get the gist pretty quick. BTW, the service was great, very friendly and prompt. Just don't get the Krab Kakes...

It's not a bad location by the water but the hostess was horrible. We went there and we're treated so poorly that we just walked out.

Great food and service. Beautiful location and it was quite lively for the time of the day. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Erie.

I went here for the eve of Fourth of July drinks. This review is just for the bar. The pros are: friendly enough bar tenders who patiently put up with our group's antics, pretty good drinks (we made the bar tender come up with a 'coconut drink' on the spot and what he made was good), prices were affordable, and they have a juke box! Cons were: they made us stand outside even though it was a rainy night, so the floor was all dirty and wet and we had to stand in that dirty water, and...there's some sort of low-grade animal cruelty going on outside (they had poor little cute ducklings stuck in the Captain Morgan fountain habitat, huddled inside from the rain, but with a big bright TV in their cage thing blasting Stuart Little DVD on loop!) I'm sure the poor little huddled ducklings would have much preferred quiet.

The Sloppy Duck is a bar/marina down on the bayfront highway. In the warmer months they have a big tent out front for bands. They also had karaoke going on inside. I have a couple friends who dock their boat there. It's a cool spot to meet up before or after going out on the boat. The bands are usually pretty decent cover bands. Which brings an middle age to older crowd.

Solid sandwiches with a great atmosphere during the summer time. It's a little pricey, as is expected for a bar on the gorgeous bay, but for a few friends looking to have a good time with some decent sandwiches, this is a great place to go and a great place to meet a lot of Erie tourists and yacht owners.
