BOOM. We were starving at night, and had no idea where to go in erie. Everywhere you look there are craptacular chain restaurants. The lady at the from desk suggested this, bless her soul. We got: beef fried rice: DELISH Szechwan tofu: DELISH veggie lo mein: good i guess? forgot to ask the eater wonton soup: above aberage sweet and sour chicken: average general tso tofu, ordered extra spicy: DEEEEEELISH Ordered online, easy as can be. This is not the best chinese I've ever had. It is waaaayyyyy better than those places that have the pictures of the meals illuminated behind the counter. And the cost... $30. For a grocery bag full of food. Five stars.

I usually order out from this restaurant on nights where you just don't want to cook. Their orders are arrived in 30 minutes and the food was hot and delicious.

I will say that this is one of the only places we order Chinese food. The food is fast, hot and plentiful. What brings me to the review tonight is my bf always orders hot and spicy beef, which is good enough. Tonight, it was exceptional. He was raving about how good the food was. It's always good. Tonight it was great. The very few times we've had issues, they are courteous and prompt attending to the matter (we've been ordering here for 8 years, and I can count the number of times we have issues on one hand it's so infrequent). Excellent customer service, and we will continue to patronize them.

I'm sad to give such a poor review to what I believe to be pretty decent American Chinese food, but I can't overlook the horrendous experiences we've had trying to get an order delivered. The food has always been fresh and delicious, but the three times we've ordered delivery, the order was extremely late, wrong, or both. The most recent time we ordered food, it took almost two hours for it to arrive. We called the restaurant at the 1 hour mark to see where it was and were told it was "almost there." When our food did arrive about an hour later, we were asked to pay for it (which we'd already done via credit card), add the tip (which we'd also already done via credit card), and then the driver gave us food that we didn't order. When we asked where our food was, he admitted that he must have delivered it to the previous customer. The driver returned another half hour later with our food, but we were missing part of our order because the customer who'd mistakenly gotten it had started to eat it. The driver offered to go back to the restaurant, get a new order of that item, and we accepted, but he never came back. I was absolutely furious that we paid for the food and were not offered any reconciliation for these huge mistakes. We even called the restaurant and told them about what happened! They did nothing! I wish I could say this is the first time we've had an issue with delivery, but it isn't. Bottom line, if you're going to order food from this place, go pick it up. NEVER get it delivered. It'll be a huge disaster every single time.

While visiting Erie from new york city, i had an intense craving for chinese food. We searched around for a Chinese food place and came upon this restaurant. We decided to gove this place a try and the food was fantastic! We ordered general tso's chicken and the chicken was tender and the sauce was off the hook. All of their other dishes were great also. Compliments to the chef! Their service was fast and their waiters and waitresses were friendly and helpful in letting us know their most popular dishes. Their take out service is perfect for a lazy night when you just don't want to cook. Their delivery was quick and the food was piping hot when it got here. Golden wok will be our go to place for lazy night dinners.

We had it delivered and the food still tasted hot and fresh! Fried rice is a little bland but everything else was delicious. Especially for Erie, PA where food generally sucks.

My favorite Chinese restaurant in the Erie area! Always hot and fresh, friendly staff, reasonable prices and wait time. The online ordering is really convenient and quick, and the food never disappoints. Can't wait to try the new sushi/hibachi they're adding soon!!

When I ordered 3 items via delivery, I wrote down "No MSG please" in the comments and they actually followed through. I don't have any allergic reaction to MSG, but I can clearly taste it, and notice the damp aftertaste as well, which there were none. The quality of the meat was also superb with properly cleaned vegetables. The delivery was here just on time as well, which pretty much made this finally a Chinese restaurant with absolutely zero hiccups. I was amazed and due to exceeding expectations on actually following through what I ordered, I give it 5 stars as of June 3, 2015.

By far the best by the plate Chinese food you can get in Erie. No buffet, but serving sizes are plentiful and ingredients taste fresh! Delivery is fast!

Best Chinese food in erie! The waitresses are always fantastic when I dine in and the girls on the phone are always are always great when I place an order! I've been coming here for years and it's always great! The family who owns the place is super nice and are usually their to say hello. When I get delivery the drivers are always on time and very pleasant. I will keep coming here!

I rarely write reviews though I have been using yelp for years now; I personally decided to write a review on Golden Wok. Just to give you some perspective, I'm Asian and from California, so I know good food, regardless of whether or not it's authentic. I ordered delivery, and after over an hour of not receiving my food and the restaurant being 20 minutes past their "due time", I called. I didn't get a single apology, I was simply told by an extremely rude receptionist that my food was delayed because of the weather and driving conditions. Now if this had been earlier in the week (like Monday when we had that freak storm), sure, I understand. It's mid-afternoon Thursday, the sun is shining and the streets are cleared....and I live exactly 2 miles from the restaurant..... 1.5 hours later, my food showed up.... I didn't get a single apology, just got handed my food and glared at for the tip I offered despite the food being late. The food was burning hot and looked like it had been hastily thrown together right after I called...... Fine, on to taste....yeah, I think they forgot to throw in the seasoning...and pieces of my chicken were still frozen in the middle. Up to you.

Food not too bad. Probably one of the more decent chinese take out in the area.

When I'm in the mood for American-style Chinese food, this is the only option, as far as I'm concerned. I don't like buffets & I really dislike every other Chinese take-out place I've tried in Erie. The dining room is ok. The service is ok. I read another review where they talked about a guy in the kitchen smoking... I'm a semi-regular customer there for the past few years & I've never seen any such thing. I've never noticed the resaurant smelling smokey or the paper bags our take-out comes in. I don't buy that for a minute. Back to my review - It's the type of fare you would expect for Chinese take out, but the quality is noticeably superior to the other Chinese take out places around here. The food tastes fresher & looks better. Their meals are a good value for the money.

If you're craving good, fresh, (American style) Chinese food - Golden Wok is where it's at. While it has many of the typical selections of other Chinese restaurants in the area - except the quality of the ingredients stands out over all the others. Everything tastes fresher, hotter, and just BETTER. The dine-in area is even pretty nice and quiet. It's quick, relatively unhealthy, and cheap. They deliver until they close (which was helpful for me, when I just couldn't pull myself off the couch and turn off The Big Lebowski to make a trip to get some food). Try it - it's my favorite in the city of Erie.

It's taken me years to find a Chinese restaurant in Erie that I can get excited about. I don't like Chinese buffets so it took me a while... This one wins. Love the quality of ingredients. Schezwan Bean Curd was wonderful and the staff was very friendly.

This place is a good take out place. I wish they'd make there food spicier. I also feel like the shrunk there portion size.

If I want American style Chinese food in Erie this is where I go. There good, it is tasty, not overly oily, nice enough place to sit inside and enjoy a meal. Give the place a try, you will not be disappointed.

Fast, friendly service and consistent quality in its food. The soups are great and the food is standard Chinese restaurant fare, although the quality of the meat is much higher than many of the local Chinese restaurants. It's not the one-stop Chinese restaurant that many make it out to be, but it's damn good.

Traveling a lot gets you to many different places to eat & I try to change it up frequently. The locals might be right that this might be the best Chinese in Erie but I couldn't eat it comparing it others. I'm not a picky guy and I was very hungry when we ordered general tso's chicken, seafood soup, and shrimp egg rolls. I thought being hungry I would enjoy this unhealthy dish to the max and how wrong was I, the chicken (to be honest not even sure if there was chicken under a huge amount of breading) was very dry and hard, chewing it was like chewing bamboo shoots, the sauce was ok, but like I said I couldn't eat it. The shrimp egg rolls were also very dry, I think there was 1 piece of shrimp per egg roll and all you could taste was stale cabbage. I really didn't even try the soup since all it contained was a TON of imitation crab. I've been to many Chinese take outs & for $30 I got a lot more food, much better quality ingredients, and definitely much tastier. If you've eaten great Chinese take out, don't bother with this place, send your unhealthy cravings to another place.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This is the worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life. I will never go back and would probably only recommend to someone I really disliked. To be fair, I've been more than once. I believe in giving places a second chance but I'm not wasting my time or money here anymore

This is the only place i've had chinese here in Erie, other then the cooked food at Wegmans. The food is fresh, nice size portions, and quick. i've had the Seafood combination the shrimp were very large clean and tasty. I thought the sauce was a little lighter maybe lacking on the garlic but still good. this plate has imitation crab even though i was told it's real. I aslo had the wonton soup the wontons are thick and a little heavy but the filling is nice and the broth is light but no veggis anywhere in it. My hubby and I both tried the Hot and sour soup it is quite spicy i'm used to a white pepper and hot mustard type as the heat but they use chillies in this soup and was a little much for the hubby. I had one shrimp eggroll it was tasty and fresh, big hunks of shrimp. My husband had the ko pow chicken combnation plate the chicken could have used a little more spice, the rice was good and the eggrolls are crisp, shorter and thick. Another dish I had was the shrimp with mixed vegitables it was fresh, lots veggie's they seem to use bell pepper in almost everything. This dish had a brown sauce as opposed to the clear sauce i'm used to with these types of dishes. I will be returning!

With a relaxed, unpretentious yet quality asian atmosphere with attentive staff, I was pleased to have enjoyed our first family chinese dinner in the area here some time ago. The ingredients are exceptional. I still return here when I want to be sure I receive the most tender fresh broccoli. The cream dishes tend to be on the mild side, yet have a melt-in-your-mouth quality not often found elsewhere. Enjoy!

We ordered two lunch specials and waited about 25 minutes for it to arrive. When we opened up the bag, one of the orders was garlic chicken and vegetables instead of the General Tso's that we had ordered. We called back and asked if they could adjust the price because of the error. We did not have time to wait for them to send an order of General Tso's. They told us that they were sending someone to pick up the food from us and then hung up on us. They sent their deliver driver more than 3 times to try and find me to get the food even thought the driver did not have replacement food for me. I will be sure to let everyone know how rude they were and how unwilling they were to correct their mistake!!!

I'm not entirely enthralled with this establishment. On the plus side, they use very high quality ingredients, on the down side: The food has no flavor. There are too many other Chinese restaurants in this town, I don't have to settle.

All of the Chinese restaurants in Erie taste the same. They even have the same items in their menus. Golden Wok is the only restaurant that stands out above and beyond the mediocre Chinese food in Erie. Their food, although still somewhat adjusted to the American taste bud, has enough elements of traditional Chinese taste that has me going back for more. With a lunch menu under $7, this place is at the very least worth a try.

Decent chinese food. I don't think I've ever been disappointed with the food. I've only ever gotten take out from here and it seems to be made with better quality ingredients than the other places in town. A tiny bit pricier, but worth it.

3.5 stars - not bad at all. We got crab rangoons, won ton soup, sesame chicken, and pork lo mein. Delivery was fast and the food was still quite hot and fresh when it showed up. Everything was good, although nothing was overly amazing. But if you're looking for good, reasonably-priced Chinese, don't hesitate to get food from Golden Wok.

Big City quality sushi at small city price. Very friendly and knowledgeable sushi chef, with 23 years experience. Nothing in the area is comparable to the quality and freshness chef Young and Leo serve .

As a native Japanese, this review may sound harsh but I will try to be honest. It was my first time visit. Got a seat at the sushi bar. Here is a problem number 1. The sushi chef has almost zero ability to speak English. I just wanna know how could they put him at the sushi bar where the customers interact with the chef?? I asked him where he learned sushi and it took like 2 minutes to get a right answer. Problem number 2. I ordered sushi deluxe. It was nicely done but each sushi (nigiri) portion was very small. Here I am talking about the size of sushi rice. The deluxe came with tune (maguro) x2, salmon x2, unagi (eel) x1, yellowtail (hamachi) x1, shrimp x1, octopus (tako) x 1, and spicy tuna rolls. I am not a big fan of spicy tuna roll and I did not much care for. It would be nicer if there are options to choose from besides the spicy tune roll. Problem number 3. The sushi deluxe comes with either salad or miso soup. I chose the latter. It was probably one of the worst miso soup I've ever had. It tasted like some kind of chemical and it was just gross. Miso soup is Japanese soul food and I felt they degraded our dish terribly. I make it at home all the time and I can cook far better than what they serve. For those reasons above, I cannot give more than 2 stars. Later on, a different chef came to the sushi bar. He looked familiar and I found he used to work at Aoyama in Millcreek Mall. He speaks English well and the communication was not an issue. I was already full by that time he showed up so I was not able to enjoy his servings. I can still give them another chance since I should try other dishes than sushi but they really need to fix the problem #1 and #3 above.

Awesome. I just tried their new Japanese menu and it was great! I had the spicy salmon roll and vegetable hibachi. I'm very impressed and highly recommend.

Golden Wok is a great option for asian food in Erie! They have a wide delivery range, delicious food, quick service, and have recently expanded their restaurant to include some Japanese dishes including sushi. The food is always prompt (30 minutes, sometimes less!) and fresh. They listen to my instructions on their easy to use online ordering website. I have a lot of food allergies and they take care of me every time. My go-tos are (maybe boring) chicken with broccoli, tuna roll, and veggie rolls. The sushi is VERY fresh and a robust serving size. They also feature a "special diet" menu, which allows you to leave off sauces, oil, or sugars from your dish. This is very helpful for those of us with food allergies, diabetes, or low-fat diets. Definitely worth a stop or an order for delivery!

I have been to The Golden Wok twice now and after living in Hawaii the Sushi capital this is by far the best place to dine if you want a great atmosphere, service, and of course delicious sushi & sashimi. Their tuna tataki appetizer is tremendous as well! The Sushi chef and his staff is one of the most gracious in Erie. Thanks everyone, Joi

The new sushi bar is great. The sushi combos are a great deal and the fish is fresh. The decor is nice and the service was good. It was a little quite inside, possibly a little background music would help. I'll be back for more.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
