This is by far the best establishment in the area. Outstanding food, prices and customer service. The staff is friendly and very eager to please their customers in any way making it very hard to not return on a weekly basis. Ask to try the white dipping sauce with you chips!

Horrible service. I have gotten take out here before but today was first time I dined in. It's set up self serve so I went to counter to order took my drink in their cups, not disposable, sat at a table. They brought my food in take out containers. I said " oh I was gonna eat here". She checked with the other girl like I shouldn't have said that. The two staff told me it's take out if u go to the counter loudly I felt like an idiot. So they put the food on plates sloppy as could be hard taco already soft. I won't go back I will just stick with la tolteca even tho this is more convenient to my home.

Amazing fresh Mexican food. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu especially the salads in a tortilla bowl which is so fresh! It has become my favorite place to eat. Even the coffee is good

The food is as good as the one in Wilkes barre and I love the fact that they deliver to your house what more could you ask for

Over the past year, the quality of food at la tolteca express/kingston restaurant location has been getting worse and worse while the prices keep getting higher. I swear to you I think that my salsa that came with chips is canned tomato purée with a dash of cilantro. I keep telling myself it will be the last time, but now it truly is.

I really like this place...it's borderline addicting. I usually get takeout, I've never dined in. Service is always fast and friendly. I have Celiac and am gluten free, so I stick to enchiladas, hard tacos, salads, order the fajitas with corn tortillas, etc. I have not reacted to those items. The enchiladas are so amazing, I could drink the sauce. The tacos are good, I just wish they'd put more meat in them (they tend to be skimpy with this) and they can be soggy sometimes. Fajitas are delicious. Fish tacos are also excellent. They also deliver, which is nice for when I'm feeling hungry but lazy. They're a little pricey, but worth it if you have a craving for good Mexican.

Man! Stopped in for lunch today and got a lunch special for 9 bucks with a drink. Took it to go and was pleasantly surprised when I saw they packed chips and salsa along with my taco and quesadilla. Both the tacos and quesadillas were packed with meat and cheese - no skimpy toppings! They were delicious, fresh, and filling - I could only finish half! I will definitely be back for lunch again soon.

The food is just as good, although a little pricier, but the service at this location is not up to par. I've gone three times. Twice we stood for close to ten minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge that we were there before we were seated. The last time I went I sat at the bar, which was open, but did not have a dedicated bartender on duty. That's kind of a shame since the bar is really quite nice. The only reason anyone realized I was there was because another guy at the bar's order was ready and a server brought it out and saw me sitting there. He seemed frazzled although the place was practically empty. Once I ordered the good came quickly. It seems too large for where it is located and severely understaffed. They all hang out at the back while customers enter from the front. Not at all what I would expect from La Tolteca since the service at the location by the mall is always excellent. Hopefully they can resolve this issue.

We have only ever ordered out from here but wow. Amazing food. They give you chips and salsa (no chunks) with your order out. The amount of food you recieve is unvelievable. It is a quick and easy version of wilkesbarres la tolteca!

This location is now closed. The restaurant has since expanded and moved a few doors down. The new address is 21A Gateway Shopping Center, Edwardsville PA. The new location is much larger and the atmosphere is very welcoming. There is a bar at the entrance and full service restaurant in the back with sharpingly dressed, young bilingual servers. There is even a stage for small performances. Out of curiosity, I grabbed a bite to eat. The popular fajitas menu never ceases to disappoint. So delicious. Check out the new location soon! (Some may complain about the prices but the experience is an upgrade from the former location)

Don't bother with the new La Tolteca in Edwardsville, which was formerly Tolteca Express but upgraded in size and moved to the corner in the same plaza. Their new prices and portions are a major RIP OFF. I'd give no stars if it were an option. Combination dinners, formerly $8.50, now cost $13.99!! (They added rice and beans - but not $5 worth! ) Lunch combos, formerly $6.50, are now $8.99 with no upgrades or changes. Cheese dip went up too, but it decreased in size and flavor. Ours was runny and seemed watered/milked down. Delivery costs $2, and it took an hour on a Monday around 3:00. No new menu was provided, so we can't even see how ridiculous the prices are on other items. That doesn't matter, though, because we won't be ordering from there again. Another sad loss for the Kingston area.

It's not on the menu, but if you ask them, they will make you a Burrito Bowl (similar to Chipotle) for a low carb option. Basically, no shell and no rice. Delicious. My major complaint is that it has an overwhelming cigar smell in the dining room from the place next door. Also, it is a little pricey for lunch.

For a lunch spot, this place rocks. I had my food in front of me within 10 mins of ordering, and it was delicious. Service was quick, food was cheap, I'll be back!

For dining in I'll head to the Wilkes Barre Tolteca, but food is still great here and delivery is a major plus in my book!

I will start this review off by saying that I LOVE the regular La Tolteca restaurant in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. I have been there many times, and have always had great service and great food. Unfortunately, I cannot say the for the new La Tolteca Express restaurant in Edwardsville, Pa. Excited to learn of the new express location, my partner and I went there for lunch today for the first time, and the food was not as good as the regular place. I ordered the shrimp taco platter, and my partner ordered the chicken taco platter. For some reason, all I received was 3 soft tortillas with grilled plain shrimp, and rice. No lettuce, sour cream, or tomatoes (salad). They did give me a 2 oz. cup of pico de gallo, and a 2 oz. cup of some of the hot sauce. The menu said that it came with salad, but I guess that the cooks decided it didn't need it. My partner got the chicken tacos, which came with rice, pico de gallo, hot sauce, and salad (the lettuce, tomato, sour cream combo that I was missing). I chose not to make a fuss about this, and my partner and I shared her salad for our tacos. Another thing that I found to be dissappointing was the selection on their menu, and it also seemed to be a bit pricey for a casual lunch experience, and for the smaller lunch portions. I was surprised that there was no grand opening specials, considering that this is their first week being open. One up side is that the server was very nice. If you are looking for Mexican food in the Wyoming Valley area, I would have to say forget about the express location, and just stick to the original in Wilkes-Barre by the Wyoming Valley Mall- better selection, better food, and better experience overall.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
