I wish I could rate the food as I have heard wonderful things, however we were told by the hostess this evening 2/28/15, that she couldn't even tell us how long the wait would be for two, " it would be too long" because they had tables reserved for people at 7:30, we arrived at 7 and there were no others waiting. She told us she was unable to let us wait at the bar. Horrible first time experience.

Our last two visits have not been as good as our many previous experiences. The service was most noticeably not up to their normal standards. Food was okay but I've never called it okay before. Overall the attention to detail, which is what I thought made them great , is gone.

Amici's is our favorite place for special dinners. We have always had great food and good service. It isn't cheap but it isn't McDonalds either. Don't go in thinking BLT or burger. You will be disappointed. Go in thinking you will get something special, be served by a great staff and have a relaxing evening. Update. Don't miss the Pacific halibut! It was fabulous! As good as I have had anywhere!

Used to come hete for big family celebrations when I was a kid, but ironically since I moved to town, my husband and I only come for the bar these days. Small but solid tap selection with Guiness, Stella and things like Flying Dog, Southern Tier and Pittsburgh Brewing on hand.

My wife and I try to get out to Amici's about once a year. The main reason we only get there that often is because it isn't a place to take small children and we don't get the opportunity to dine alone very often. The food at Amici's is always AWESOME! I can't imagine ever being disappointed. The service is always very good and the staff is very knowledgeable about the dishes they serve. They also have a great wine list and selection of beer. Amici's is one of the few places that serves my favorite import, New Castle Brown Ale, on tap. Amici's is a wonderful place with a great atmosphere for some top notch Italian cuisine, and it doesn't even have to be a special occasion.

The atmosphere of the place alone is comforting and delightful. I got there early with my fiance and 2 year old son and we had a nice time. Always had food available whether we wanted it or not. Calamari was delicious and the salmon was amazing. I hate salmon. They made it really good. It was a little expensive. If I were to compare restaurants, Red lobster provides more food and the wait is shorter however Amici's has a great dining area, friendly servers who laughed with us and perfect amount of food. Very comfortable environment. It seems like one of those places you come back yearly.

I visited Amici's Ristorante over Easter weekend and had a lovely meal. I ordered the hanger steak, which was superb, with asparagus and mushrooms. I also substituted the smashed potatoes for spaghetti with marinara sauce, which was a nice touch and a better carb substitute (in my opinion). The house salad was nothing special. The reason why I wouldn't give this restaurant more stars is because the service was a little spotty and awkward. Don't get me wrong, our waitress was pleasant and friendly, but there were a few mistakes that shouldn't have happened especially considering the prices on the menu. Attentiveness is key, and honestly it just wasn't there.

Came for an early dinner. NY strip steak was terrific, scallops were probably the best I have ever had. The waitress, Kym, was incredibly attentive, knowledgable, and friendly. The meal was a great experience!

My favorite restaurant in Cambria County (other than my family's Restaurants) Best thing I have had there was their Ahi Tuna. Their veal dishes are amazingly tender. My only major complaint is on the Arancini (Fried Risotto Balls with mozzarella andy pesto)-they were good, but the portion was meager, however the big foul on the dish was that there was no pesto in or on it-had the portion been larger, or the dish actually been described accurately on the menu, I would have no complaints.

We have been coming here for about 5 years, the food is always GREAT. The staff is always friendly but not always attentive, or they are too busy. Only one time has a visit took about an hour, it normally takes two. The Shrimp Crab pasta is the reason we eat here!! We just tried the asparagus wrapped in prosciutto and it was wonderful!

I don't write many reviews and live in Altoona, which is 30 minutes away from this fine establishment. We have WAY MANY more restaurants in Altoona, but I always find a reason to hit Amici's a few times a year. Why? Great atmosphere, great food and great service... Wine list and beer selection is very good also. I really like the bar and ambiance of the dining room. Very nicely decorated and kind of romantic with the right person. Everyone likes the pasta dishes here, but I always get a seafood dish and have NEVER been disappointed. Yes, it costs a little more, but you get what you pay for. I like Amici's a lot...

Found this place after biking on the nearby Ghost Town Trail and were very glad we did. Dining options are limited in this area and with some members of our party having gluten issues, we didn't know quite what to expect. A very pleasant surprise at every level. Staff couldn't have been friendlier to our group of 8. The owner stopped at our table twice during the meal and the waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and had a great sense of humor. The waiter was extremely willing to help the member of our group with her food allergy and she left the restaurant very satisfied and very full. Service was A+ The restaurant had a nice decor and was well maintained. A+ But then the food. Wow! It is not often that we have trouble decided what to order, but this every item on this menu (sans the tripe pasta) seemed interesting. First, they had gluten-free pasta--a big plus. Everything was made from scratch and perfectly cooked. The fried calamari was cooked perfectly and still tender. The wife's salmon was perfectly cooked. The pumpkin soup and butternut squash ravioli were flavorful and perfectly spiced. My shrimp risotto had a hint of citrus and still had a bit of bite left in the middle. Perfect. The stuffed banana peppers were at the right level of spice and the marinara sauce was fresh and light, based on some type of high-quality tomatoes that weren't over cooked. The white asparagus wrapped in prosciutto and drizzled with balsamic may have been the best asparagus we've eaten. Food A+ The wine selection was nice and reasonable. The Ravenswood Zin is a great house wine. A The only downside is that this restaurant is a bit on the pricier side with modest portions. However, the food and service will get us back there again. We talked about this place for two days--too bad it is a two hour drive from where we live.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
