Headed to DuBois today to run a few errands, we ended up at this place we passed many times. Walked in to a seat yourself diner that was a real trip back in time. We love the feel of an old shiney silver diner and there are so few these days. Altho you'd never know it from the outside, the inside didn't let us down. Service was excellent. Menu had so many varieties of food. There was also an extensive breakfast buffet. We chose a classic cheese steak sandwich and a gyro. One with waffle fries and the other with fresh cut fries. Food arrived quickly and didn't dissapoint. The only thing that was not to my liking were the fresh cut fries. Altho tasty, I prefer mine crispy and these were just not crisp enough for me. The gyro was Excellent! The steak sandwich was excellent as well. P.s. the coffee, well very enjoyable. Would definitely go back and try something else!!!

We had the buffalo chicken salad and the turkey wrap. The food was very good, but the service was pretty bad. We had to ask for more water, we weren't checked on regularly even though the waitress walked by several times, and we had ordered our dessert with our meal so that it would come out quickly, but it took about an extra 10 minutes to get it after we were done eating. The crepes are definitely not crepes and are more of a pancake. If you get them definitely ask for them to go light on the chocolate syrup. We got the Nutella ones and couldn't taste the hazelnut because of all of the chocolate syrup.

We go here about once a month and usually have a good experience but last night not so much. We ordered the buffalo blue cheese sticks. We only got 4 and it said on the board we should have gotten 5. Even if we got 5, they weren't that good for being $1 a piece. There was no hot sauce with them or on them, so I guess the title was misleading. I ordered the bananas foster milkshake. It didn't come until my food. The waitress brought the milkshake itself, and a little cup of the "extra", which the diner always usually gives me with my shakes. But she mentioned this time I got the "extra" for waiting so long....uh thanks? The milkshake was awful. For being a bananas foster milkshake I guess I expected a traditional vanilla milkshake with a banana, caramel and some rum added. You could clearly taste the artificial banana flavoring (I'm guessing 99 bananas) and it was too much for me. I only took a couple drinks of it (one drink to try it, another to make sure it was really that bad). Then our food came, we each got the 3 little pigs. They were good as usual. I was disappointed that the waitress didn't ask how our food was so that I could tell her I wasn't pleased with the shake. Which was obvious because you couldn't even tell I tried it. I'm not one to go out of my way to complain, so I was forced to pay $7 for a stupid shake I couldn't even drink. For that reason, we won't be back for awhile.

A charming diner. The decor is a throw back to the 50's. I felt like I just stepped through a time machine. Beautifully put together. I only had desert and beverages but loved the staff and service so much I plan to return. Try Deanne's home made pie. They also just opened a small quaint sports bar as an extension which is very cozy lots of Big TVs to watch sporting events. Very clean and charming.

bathrooms marked "pink ladies" & "greasers" add to the old school diner nostalgia vibe here. The walls have tee shirts from diners round the country and local sports and businesses- and the place mats are paper with local business adds. There is thanksgiving turkey dinner every night (small portion, large portion, & all you can eat) and breakfast all day.

If you find yourself in the area and want a real diner, this is the place. Classic diner breakfast and grub. Clean and good quality.

This large diner is obviously THE happening spot for lunch in DuBois. The prices are very reasonable, the service is snappy and friendly. Like many diner menus, The DuBois has a huge selection of menu choices for breakfast, lunch or dinner, as well as a nice small salad bar and a buffet table of hot items. Great choices, although for someone like myself who is gluten intolerant, I noted an awful lot of dishes that were fried, breaded, or otherwise kind of heavy. If you don't want bread, or something fried, your choices here really drop off dramatically. I went with a chef salad, which was quite large, with fresh ingredients. However, I would also say that it was really just an assembly of average cold cuts & lettuce -- and a lot more lettuce than ham, cheese, etc. Overall, I could certainly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch, the food quality & presentation is solid, if not especially unique. If the DuBois upgraded to a "chef" from a "cook" and added some interesting flavors and more modern cuisine, it could easily be 4 stars plus.

I really love this diner, it has everything that a diner should have. It's opened late, breakfast, coffee, and dessert. What else could you need?

The 6oz steak was big, n seem much bigger than 6oz. It was cooked right to my order. The mushroom soup had a lot of mushrooms. In fact, I had never seen this much mushroom in mushroom soup. The bill was $17 for a "6 oz" new York strip steak, a bowl of mushroom soup n 16oz of Yuenling beer. U can't beat that price!

I rarely give one star reviews but when your meal isn't even edible want can you do? Our food at the DuBois Diner reminded me of a bad high school cafeteria. The waitress was very friendly as she told us how almost everything was made in house including the pot roast sandwich I ordered and the house-roasted turkey on my wife's sandwich. The pot roast was a few thin pieces of leathery meat that were swimming in a gloppy congealed "gravy." The turkey on my wife's sandwich was slimy cold cut turkey. We didn't see how it could have been roasted in house The pot roast sandwich was so salty, even after scraping the glop off, that I couldn't eat it. The Texas Toast wasn't toasted creating one soggy mess. I asked the waitress to take the sandwich off my bill which she did. But I was still charged $5 for the sides, a tiny bowl of oily carrots and a baked potato. She really shouldn't have charged me for those either but at that point I didn't want to fight it. Too bad because the atmosphere was nice but it was a wasted experience. Driving off I-80 for lunch and paying $5 for a meal I couldn't eat rates as one star.

I had the breakfast burrito and it was wonderful. My friend had the diner scramble and it was just as good. Great atmosphere and service. If I am ever visiting DeBois again I will go out if my way to eat there.

What a perfect surprise find! We were just passing through & stopped for breakfast/lunch. Both were fan-tas-tic!! My husband wants to return to DuBois just to come back here! Home fries are the best! The pasta bar for lunch was a fantastic choice, both delicious and a bargain. Try the cheese biscuits. Overall, wonderful!!

Super cute retro diner. We got there 5 min after the kitchen closed but the staff was very kind to make these hungry travelers some food. The fries and pierogis hit the spot. We also enjoyed some local beers and watched the NCAA finals in the newly established bar. Definitely a Fun stop on our trip from New York to Chicago.

Cheap real breakfast. Lunch and dinner looked good and I would drive off I-80 to eat here.

Good comfort food, easy on the wallet, not crazy about the 50s theme.

This is a family favorite. The food was good and the service was great. They were very helpful and brought me hot water to warm baby bottles. I recommend their Quesadilla and their Burgers! They are wonderful. They will also mix up a special soda if you want (i.e. Vanilla coke). The deserts are good, but usually you get too much food to make it to desert. They often have a breakfast buffet too. They also have special events that capitalize on the diner theme. Keep an eye out for them. It's also located next to the Harley-Davidson dealership so you can pop over after checking out that store.

While visiting the area, we dropped by this place--the weather was nice so we sat outside. I ordered the Meatloaf--it was great!

The waitress did a good job. My food was ready quickly. It was tasty, though quite salty. It really did seem like home- cooked food. I was crazy about the coconut cream pie. So, so, so good. Cute decor, old-timey diner style. I'm glad I had the chance to eat at this locally-owned diner instead of winding up at yet another chain restaurant.

came in with low expectations for breakfast but still left disappointed. soggy eggs, odd taste, undercooked food. cheap, but not worth it; service was great though and the atmosphere is positive. wont be returning.

The burgers are the best part of this place, they make the most amazing burgers. The soda always tastes clean because they clean their soda lines regularly, which is a big plus to me coming from another state where the health codes are a bit stricter than they are here. Their desserts are simply amazing! I couldn't ask for a better dessert place than the Diner. However parking is always a tad difficult because their busy most of the time and there are several regulars who will park really close to your car so that it's hard to get in. The service can be a bit slow, but they're all generally friendly.

Best Burgers in DuBois. If you happen to be on 219 this is the place to go. Food is great, the staff is friendly, and the 60s atmosphere is really on target.

We stopped here on our way to New Jersey after reading reviews on this site. What a great find! Breakfast was wonderful. Quick off and on I80. So good we stopped on our way west for lunch. I would recommend the Pulled Pork, tender and very flavorful. Friendly service and clean. Real food....not chain food...

Stopped here on a road trip - close to I80. The wait staff helpful and polite, they happily set us up outside so our dogs could sit with us. I had the reuben and my son had the buffalo chicken sandwich. We were both happy with our meals and thrilled not going to a gas station truck stop.
