This place is so relaxing with yummy coffees and snacks. Such unique style in appearance, and great, friendly workers! We love when live bands play and really add to the feel of comfort in the place.

This is the coolest coffee shop in town. It's tucked in around the corner from the global domination coffee shop, full of nice little corners to have a quiet conversation and a cappuccino. I like the zen theme for several reasons, top among them is because it makes no reference to the colonial era. Far too many retailers do this in Bucks County - something which drives this visitor crazy. Is it legislated that everything has to be the 'ye old' blah blah blah to be able hang a sign? If you like to visit places that reflect the local sub-culture, far from the reach of the malls and global domination, but not a 'ye old' coffee shop, you'll like this place. Oh, and did I mention they have live music on the weekends?

I came to this coffee shop because my boyfriend was in Doylestown for jury duty and I needed a good spot to get some work done. I even came back the next day because I enjoyed it the first time. I am very particular about working conditions in coffee shops and I was more than happy with the Zen Den. I prefer big tables near outlets and windows with a comfortable room temperature and the Zen Den fit all those parameters. The floor is a nice light wood color along with came colored walls, so in my opinion, the light is just right for computer work or reading. I met the owner when I came in and she is delightful. It is immediately apparent from meeting her that she really enjoys owning the shop and she is very welcoming. I was thrilled to learn they serve La Colombe coffee and they even put a shot of espresso in your iced coffee. The bathrooms, floors and tables are all impeccably clean. They offer free wi-fi with a fast connection.

The Zen Den gets 5 stars from me just for the atmosphere. I could probably spend most of the day relaxing and reading on the big red comfy chairs around the table In the corner. There are beautiful paintings on the walls and the sound of running water from the fountain doohickeys is nice. I only got the coffee(la colombe) which was average, but there are a lot of delicious sounding drink options. I will definitely be hanging out in this place more often.

Probably the closest thing to a coffeeshop that doylestown gets. (Although it is clutterred with kitschy decorations) The espresso is authentic and the environment is rather comfy. The employees are nice, but only one is really personable.

One of my most favorite hang outs when I'm in D'town. I have been here many times and make up excuses to 'swing by'. I love the vanilla lattes, and my daughter loves the Italian soda's. The soda's are hand made, and they have several flavors to choose from. I've had the pastries, and they are good, also have had sandwiches, also good. The atmosphere is laid back and easy, which is a perfect spot to kill some time with a book or just to relax. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. I very much enjoy this coffee shop, wish there were more like it in town.

Outstanding cappuccino. There is lots of space to hang out with friends in this well decorated coffee house. Summary: This place is worth checking out.

I'm a fan. Coffee is good and the environment is calm and cozy. I would definitely recommend this as a place to meet a friend, grab lunch, work for a smidge.

i love this place! the coffee is fine, the treats are delicious and the vibe is awesome. it feels like the coffee shop that time forgot straight out of reality bites. i dig it. and i've never had bad service. i just started working in doylestown- i hope not everyone treats local businesses like some of these grouchy reviewers. go to starbucks!

What a great place for a great cup of coffee. It used to be a bookstore but has been completely redone. There are great corners to curl up with a good book or a laptop. The latte's are fabulous. The new cookies from Diane are the best gourmet cookies ever.

Wow, I am soooo disappointed in the change of ownership. The other owner was pleasant, and very personable. What happened to her ?????? While the atmosphere is compy, the place is not the same. This owner needs to learn some real people skills. I will not be returning. A few of my friend feel the same way. Sorry !!!!

The lack of a zero star saves this place. Attention Yelp! Get a zero star! Update: I foolishly gave them another try. What a mistake. The coffee was not hot, and was flavorless. I tossed it out, walked out, and will not be returning. If you are looking for an Asian/ Zen place, this is not what you will find here. I don't know why the place calls itself Zen, but okay, whatever. The decor is spot-on. A kind of faux Italian meets hippie/artsy. Comfy, traditional yet artsy/modern, a place that will appeal to young and old alike. The crowd that frequents usually seems to be just that. Okay, all good so far. I'm like, wow, this place looks great....wait, there's more...unfortunately. Now, for the coffee, the reason I went there....YUCK. The worst coffee I have had in this area, and I have been to them all. McDonald's has better coffee. The regular coffee was not hot and very poor quality. It reminded me of dishwater. That was the second time I was in there. The third time I had a latte which tasted so crappy I could only manage to drink a tiny bit of it. I nursed it after that, in order to enjoy the cute atmosphere of the place. The biscotti I had with it was the absolute worst biscotti I have ever eaten in my life. I have never, ever had a tastelss biscotti until I went here, and I have had A LOT of coffee and biscotti in my life. Well, I guess there is always a first time for everything, right? There is quite a limited selection of baked goods. None seemed appetizing. Now, for the first time there. I never did get waited on because the attendant behind the counter was too busy rehashing the weekends television shows to another person! So, I walked out! Well, it was a Monday morning, maybe she had a busy weekend. In all fairness, the next 2 times the service was very fast and very friendly even if the brew was lousy. Interior,as I said, is wonderful although it can be dark, esp. on a cloudy day. Some more lighting is needed in the seating area. The restrooms were clean. The men's room NEEDS A SMALL TABLE IN IT. If you have a coffee to go or food there is no place to set it down except the floor or maybe balance it on the top of the waste bin. Not good. The place is clean. Some artwork on the wall looked like it was for sale, a touch I like. I really hope the coffee improves here, as the Zen Den has so much to offer. Young adults (college age +) may not care, esp. if they are looking for a cool place to hang out on a Saturday night. Seniors looking for a comfy place to sit and read the paper while chatting and having coffee may like the ambiance. Folks who take their Java seriously WILL CARE about the quality of coffee served here! It must improve. If you want us to return, the coffe must get better, much better.

I LOVE this place. This is not your local Starbucks atmophosphere that has no personality or character. The Zen Den is all about being ZEN... the place is decorated with warm inviting colors, the seats are that of a comfortable living room atmosphere and I love their Decaf coffee! It actually has flavor! The Zen Den has made great atttempts to connect with the community in which you local coffee houses don't. There are musical guests, a Ladies Night where local business woman set up to engage with customers, and special events during the week. The Zen Den invites you in and encourages you to stay as long as you want. I think it's lovely and have since moved all my informal meetings/gatherings there!

Gave it two chances, and unfortunately both times my experience was anything but zen. Poor customer service . Rude.I won't go back

  • Eileen B.

I had been to the Zen Den only once since it opened and really enjoyed the whole experience. Unfortunately, the second time I went I used a Living Social coupon which had expired for the full deal. The buyer is guaranteed their initial purchase price (10.00) for 4 years after purchase but not the 20$ value. I showed this to Hector, the barista, who carefully read the fine print and politely took our order and made our breakfast. When the owner came in and saw the coupon she freaked out and was yelling that it was expired. Although Hector was trying to explain I approached her to explain that we did not receive the additional 10.00 off (we purchased 23.00 worth of food). She continued to yell at me saying that people like me cheated the system. I tried to speak to her calmly and explain that I drove the extra 20 minutes to get to her place and that the coupon did work since it brought in new customers. Nonetheless, she wouldn't back down and our appetites were ruined. Any employee at a Starbucks would have been summarily fired for treating a customer like this. We have since found Crossroads Bakery and Brigadoon in Ottsville. I guess she actually did us a favor. The experience was anything but Zen and we will never be back. Shame on her.

I have been a loyal customer from the beginning of Zen Den. I just can't give a positive rating now--the Zen Den has changed. I used to go for the Zenergy shakes and the gluten-free goodies and they were awesome. But not the "personality" of the Zen Den has changed since there was a change in ownership. The person who runs it just isn't good with customers and she didn't even recognize me the last time I went in! The other owner/former owner always greeted me personally with a nice, warm smile. Guess I'll be getting my smoothies elsewhere now.

  • Scott G.

The zen den is nirvana with a caffeine kick! The perfect balance of coffee shop and light cafe with a completely relaxing environment to enjoy your freshly brewed cup of Java! It's a pleasure to sit, read, relax or enjoy a board game in the back. I will keep coming back and back and back for more!

Wonderful Place tucked down a side street in Doylestown. Comfy, warm atmosphere started with the greeting by the servers, and was complimented by the plush seating. Such a refreshing change from the daily Starbucks scene in the borough. Great tasting coffee and tasty breakfast menu. Stop here and walk out feeling refreshed and recharged.

    (5)
  • Caleb B.

Very Cozy Inside! It has a look of a cute little coffee shop. I got the nonfat latte, and the coffee tasted fresh and better than Starbucks. Zen Den is a great place to go if you want breakfast or a light snack.

  • Jim D.

I've been here twice now and both times have been disappointed with the quality of coffee. I'm not sure if it's the roast, scolding hot water, or something else? Anyway, the service and ambiance was good but really didn't enjoy the coffee itself. The only other thing would be to do away with the $5 minimum on charges, it's an outdated request (especially for a coffee ship) and not consumer friendly.

    (2)
  • Tina M.

I can only comment on the employees' attitude because I stopped in to buy loose leaf tea. The barista was really rude and stared me down... I would have stayed for a coffee but didn't want to deal with the angry staff for a second longer.

  • Robert L.

REAL ZEN SEEKERS BEWARE! NOT ZEN, JUST A CATCHY NAME!!!! Self absorbed manager stood outside smoking and speaking profanities. Lack luster service at the counter...the "zenrista" stood chatting to friends lending no attention to the paying customers! THE WORST: THE TEA WAS STALE! I would like to start by saying I have traveled to many places, I have been to many "real" zen tea shops. I wrote this review the day after I visited your shop. The gentleman behind the counter who still works there, not a past employee. The owner was on the phone cursing and talking about how she was about to buy a new house, that she was so much better then most people, and I thought I was attending a zen place! This was my first time in the area, let alone the store. I did not know of previous ownership as alleged by other reviews. The reason my post gets on Yelp is because I speak the truth of what I experience. That was the worst $8 for tea and cookie I have spent. After leaving my wife said we were better off going to Starbucks for a cup of their tea. I'm really sorry if the truth hurts. You cannot tread the path until you have become the path yourself, some real zen for your shop.

  • Seth G.

This is a great place where you can have quiet to get your work done and get a great cup of loose tea on the side. The ambiance is great. Few downsides (this is why it only got 3 stars). Not enough seating. There is a lack of spots to put seats but they could put up standing tables to better utilize the space. The Wifi is great in the main room but in the back room it's spotty. When I went to talk to the owner about this, with a solution, they seemed like they didn't care. This really ticked me off because don't offer FREE Wifi and have it be shotty.

We stopped by the Zen Den for a cup of beverage today. We were really expecting a tiny place, but the inside was very large. The beverages were very good, served in glass and chinaware as we stayed to enjoy it there. Seating was very comfortable and the decor was very nice. A quiet, "Zen" like atmosphere, made you forget about the rat race going on in town. We will definitely go back again, my wife wants to try the pumpkin chai latte!

  • Jackie T.

The Zen Den looks deceivingly small on the outside but it's rather huge inside. They have a good selection of coffees and teas, plus frozen drinks which is nice for the summer time. Best of all, they are open until 11pm which is awesome! The location is tucked away beside Bobby Simone's (it used to be a childrens book store). They have a small porch with seating but the inside also has plenty of comfy seating as well. There were a couple people there with their laptops during our visit too so it's a nice chill place. Our drinks were good, but the only reason I'm giving it a 4 star is because we tried to sit down towards the back at a table but the smell coming from the candles and incense was so strong that we had to leave. We started getting headaches from it. That's my only complaint though.

Not quite sure how this place got some of the lower ratings it did. I meet people here on a regular basis and also stop to read from time to time. The service has always been very good and the vibe of the place is very relaxing. I absolutely prefer the ambiance of a place like this over chains like Starbucks. It feels warm and inviting. It is exactly what I look for in a coffee shop - good coffee, attentive service and inviting atmosphere. It is easy to see through some of the bad reviews and realize they are about sour grapes not the service, coffee or atmosphere you'll find here.

  • Cecelia S.

Fell in love as soon as I walked in the door. Great ambience, very relaxing. Exactly the sort of place my friend and I were looking for to hang out and sip coffee. I got the Zenergy green smoothie (apple, pear, kale, and spinach) and my friend got a regular coffee. Definitely see myself coming back in the future to get some work done or catch up with people.

I stopped at the Zen Den Coffee Shop for breakfast and coffee a few days ago while in town. The coffee was excellent, I really enjoyed it. It's organic and has a nice full flavor. The breakfast sandwich was also good, I had bacon, egg and cheddar on a spinach bagel. The only thing that could have improved it was a fresher bagel. The eggs and bacon were great, though and it was still a good sandwich. I will definitely be back when I'm back in town.

I had an unfortunate third experience here. My first two were 4 star experiences based on the comfortable atmosphere and vibe, along with the friendly barista. However, my third experience was completely ruined by the barista. I waited for approximately 10 minutes to even be greeted while she argued with someone in the back. When she finally came to the counter, she was nothing short of rude...to the point where I didn't even finish my sentence and walked out. It's a shame because I would love to support a local coffee shop, but I was completely turned off after that experience. Have not and likely won't return.

Quiet, tucked away, cozy, and has some decent espresso. I'm impressed by home much natural light they've got without huge, street-side windows. The staff are friendly and attentive. I'll definitely be back to share this place with friends and jam on some work when I'm in town.

  • Monica Z.

The place isn't quite the hip, cool place it's hyped up to be. I saw the owner on more than one occasion become downright rude and disrespectful to a customer. And it's never cool inside during the warm months. Save yourself from giving money to a mean business owner who doesn't know how to treat customers properly. Chose Starbucks over this one.

Zen Den Coffee Shop is sort of an alley operation, running out of a back door on the narrow Donaldson Street, between Oakland and State Streets, in Doylestown. I first discovered it a few months ago when visiting my attorney who also has a rear entrance backing onto the semi-hidden shops in between the main streets and small pocket parking lots. Finally stopped in yesterday to grab some Joe and have a look. First impression was that the space is much larger than anticipated. The floor plan is spread out in two rooms, with many comfortable spots to settle in on a sofa, or work at a table. There is even room for a piano in the middle of the main room. The work space is in a corner by the entrance, which might be a problem if crowded, but when I arrived shortly after 11, there was only one person ahead of me on line. I liked the vibe with all the natural colors and clubby furniture. The southern orientation allowed sunlight to filter in softly in winter, creating a warm glowing ambiance. I got the "Zen" reference, but doubted there would be much opportunity to meditate or chant there. Caffeine takes people in another direction. I went with a Café Au Lait and Blueberry Muffin for my first try. The price was under $5, so I immediately thought it compared favorably to the Star$$$ of the world, where the same would have been a few bucks more. The taste of the coffee was okay, but nothing special. Likewise, the muffin while fresh, had a commercial bakery quality to it. Certainly edible, but lacking a spark of organic energy. I will return to obtain a more representative sampling of the goods @ ZD, but at first blush, it seems a nice place for coffee and conversation, but not necessarily the first place I would think of for outstanding coffee. Nonna's is the place to go for that.

Met here this morning to have a good relaxed discussion with a potential new hire. Atmosphere was great, comfortable, space between where everyone was sitting, very comfortable - homey vs store like feeling and the Latte was great. If it wasn't for the one customer taking a conference call speaking as if she felt they couldn't hear her all would have been perfect but that isn't the Zen Dens problem that was poor upbringing.... From a customer service standpoint, the staff took the time to ask those in the shop if the temperature was good. They must have had a reason to ask and it was fine. Parking was easy right out front at 9:00AM, and $0.25/Hour!! Cheap!! Thanks Zen Den I'll be back.

Every time I'm in Doylestown I want to make a stop at zen den. Very cute place and so many flavors of lattes. Also have had some decent baked goods from here. They have great music nights and they also have board games like battleship at the ready for your enjoyment.

My favorite coffee shop in town! cute. Nice staff. They had a guy working there awhile back that was very rude and made me not want to go there for a bit.. But he's gone and the place is better than ever. So if you had a bad experience in the past, do yourself the favor and give them another try. I love it there.

Too loungy for me. Hot inside. Barista shorted my drink by an inch and a half and the lady told me "the foam went down." Actually no, I was a barista and managed a cafe in a former life. The correct answer is, "Oh, my apologies, let me fix that for you." I think the place is too yin for me overall. Can't see out. It's all nooky and shady in here. The tables are tiny, good for one person with work or two just chatting. One big couch with a rough little table in front of it; that's where I sat. Tny little place. Pleasant enough but just not my thing. I like more space and a proper table. I see they have a cute stage and a nice sounding house system. Good place for a tiny gig. Local art on the walls, pretty wood floors, but nothing discernibly Japanese or Buddhist about it if you're looking for that sort of Zen. The coffee was fine. I was happy there were so many milk choices and delighted to find almond milk. Jury's out as to whether I'll give this place another shot.

Awesome local coffee shop, with great selections and wonderful ambience. They have a wonderful selection of fresh fruit and veritable juices, that are good enough to make a special trip! There's a cozy game and book corner, beautiful outdoor seating, and even a nice piano, if you want to tickle the ivories. There's usually some cool local musicians, that make the stop extra special! Check them out next time you're in Doylestown!

I went to the Zen Den for the first time last weekend with my mom and was pleased by the atmosphere of the facility. I would have rated it 5 stars if it weren't for the barista who made me feel like I had to rush to get my order in, even when there wasn't a line behind us. I got a Nutella latte which was subpar; it tasted like just regular coffee with tons of foam at the top. I most likely will go back again and take a few friends because I enjoyed the setting, but will be sure to order something different.

  • Tara A.

All around amazing!! The coffee couldn't get any better, they use "La Columbe" so if you're looking for a perfect cup of coffee look no further. The owner Annette and staff are very sweet and friendly, but not in that fake corporate way, they are truly down to earth cool people. The baristas are especially awesome, I look forward to seeing them when i get my lunch and coffee. They also have a nice range of foods, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, soups, quiches.. many more. Wide range of coffee/cappuccino, specialty drinks and smoothies. The actual store is laid out very nicely, plenty of comfortable loungey type seating. They also have live music on a regular basis as an added bonus. Check out the new location- located at the Doylestown train station. Finally, coffee (really good coffee) at the train station!!

  • Diane H.

Perfect for a nice little meeting with a friend or business prospect. Cozy, quaint, comfy seating options - coffee and tea and smoothie spot with some tasty, healthier food fare (snack size and more than substantial enough choices too, if desired) They get the occasional weekend performing artist too. I'll be back.

Zen Den was busy with people on laptops, groups reconnecting and people ordering coffee and treats! I like the decor and vibe...it's bohemian! The woman behind the counter, who is the owner, is nice and very social! She told me that they are opening another location in the Doylestown train station! Smart idea! I MUST SAY TO THOSE WHO HAVE VALID COMPLAINTS HERE. Please let the owner know your complaints! She can't fix any of your issues without knowing them. No one wants their business to hurt or for someone to not have the best experience! Someone from the Zen Den may not read our reviews so we need to be additionally proactive and reach out to the business directly. The time it took for us to write a review on social media, we could have written the owner a letter nicely explaining our visit. I just feel sometimes we need to complain to the owner as well as social media. I do this and the result is usually good for both parties. I have found that a lot of businesses aren't aware because they don't reflect to social media to see how they are doing, these are mom and pop businesses, big corps usually respond to social media blasts.

Yelp should really look into getting a zero star option! Where do I start? The rude chatty woman smoking near the entrance or the incompetent workers? I've stopped in here twice but never again. I just don't get it! There's nothing Zen about it and even though they serve La Colombe it definitely doesn't taste the same. You're better off getting a wawa coffee. At least it'll be HOT!!

This is a great little spot to hang out. The employees are bright and friendly. The atmosphere is welcoming and often features live music. I recommend their green smoothie or coconut milk latte. It's a wonderful place to bring a friend to hang out and chill for an hour.

First thing I have to say is: I am a Tea aficionado. I made the terrible mistake of walking in here Instead of Starbucks. I was reluctant to go In at first because it looks so dark from the parking lot but the name "Zen Den" caught my eye. There is nothing "Zen" about it, the tacky decor speaks for itself. First off, at the counter the cashier did not even smile or greet me and I immediately felt awkward. I was intrigued that they had premium Japanese and Traditional Chai tea so I opted for the chai. I asked if she could explain to me more about the tea and I must have annoyed her because she rolled her eyes and tossed me a tea list. I also ordered the chicken curry sandwich but when I asked if they had it on ciabatta or wheat, she rolled her eyes again and rudely told me they were out. I waited a total of 20 mins for my order. There were literally only 2 employees In the store working! There was this random blonde woman (I assume she works there also) talking up a storm to the employees while they were obviously very busy, she completely disregarded the fact the store was getting busy and didn't bother to help them. The sandwich was horrible. It's just canned chicken with tons of curry powder and some grapes on soggy sliced wonder bread. It was Inedible! The Tea? Pathetic excuse for tea, It was tasteless, It literally tasted like hot water. Never coming here again, I left disgusted and disrespected. Rude, unprofessional and incompetent staff. Food was unappetizing, boring ambiance plus the fact the store didn't even play any music. Avoid this place at all costs.

Where do I start....The Zen Den in the heart of Doylestown is my favorite place to have an iced tea, coffee or a bite to eat...fantastic place to listen to music....great place to go on a first date...no matter what it is I have fun with Annette(the owner) and the rest of the staff, they are always so welcoming! P.S. The place is also beautifully decorated and most the items, including the ever changing art exhibit, are for sale!

Stopped in bc. I heard they served La Colombe. Barista asked if I wanted one shot or two in a large cappuccino...(first hint). He then handed me a huge mug full of espresso and what looks like marshmallow fluff bubbles on top. In other words, they don't know how to pull a basic shot or froth milk. The equipment and beans area all quality so probably just need an experienced barista. For 4$ a cappuccino the expectation is much higher. Were I expecting average this would still fall short. Money better spent at Starbucks than this go round.

Checked this place out last night while me and my friend waited for her boyfriend to have his tattooed finished. This place is huge and comfy on the inside with a good selection of hot and cold beverages. I had an Italian soda and my friend had a chai latte and they were both perfect! The owner was very nice, as well!

Recently they implemented a $5 minimum without clear warning if you're waiting in line ordering a drink. I had ordered a plain tea and was accustomed to coffee shops not having a minimum ... because most drinks are under $5. The sign wasn't visible until AFTER I had placed my order, seeing as there was a line of people waiting for beverages in front of me. Had I known I would have saved the man who took my order some trouble and not ordered anything at all. The female barista wasn't at all professional or polite when it came to breaking the card minimum to me, and behaved like I should have known despite only just approaching the register. When I asked when it was implemented (I had been there before without any minimums in place) she rolled her eyes and responded, "Maaaany many months ago." I wasn't about to spend more money than I originally intended since their drinks are pretty expensive, and I have a food allergy -- the pastries were out of the question. They suggested I walk over to an ATM and withdraw $20 for a $2 drink, but with the fees it wouldn't be worth it for me. I didn't touch the plain tea on the counter, turned around and left, and won't be returning again.

This is a wonderful place to have a nice cup of coffee or tea. I went with my friend and they had a live singer who added a wonderful homey touch to the place. I had the cappuccino and my friend had a tea. We both get very large portions for a decent price. Also they give you your order in a mug which helps the environment and is much lovelier than any Starbucks plastic cup. The chairs are comfy and it is tucked away inside doylestown. A wonderful experience and will be back!

After watching numerous cups of iced tea, "fairy tea" (a red herbal and berry tisane) and sweets come out of Zen Den, we just had to try it for ourselves. The clean, new, wood-floored decor complete with comfy seating will be a huge hit - as I'm sure will be the La Colombe coffee. We though the Lemonade was just "OK" and the sweet tea urn was surrounded by fruit flies which kinda skeeved me out. So we opted to mix the Lemonade with a bit of the unsweetened black tea and a few ounces of the orangey iced green tea. Meanwhile, the brownie was just OK - a weird (soft - almost confection-like, fudge?) spreadable consistency. More like a candy or fudge than a brownie. Odd. We'll be back - but won't rush back. Wonderfully spacious and clean ladies room! Beats the hack outta Charbucks. Good service from the cute young highschool "boys" behind the counter.

Great for studying or internet browsing. Plenty of areas available to charge your electronics! (that's what I was worried about). Plenty of seating area. Didn't really try any beverages but they run about $2-$5 and treats average around $3. I really enjoy the vibe here. It's welcoming and zen-like--absolutely calming. I snagged a seat on the windowsill so I'm really enjoying this whole sipping on my FREE coffee because of my check-in and this slight breeze.

I first visited The Zen Den went it first opened. The coffee was great but I had to wait quite a bit for my coffee. I assume I threw a wrench in the works because I ordered a decaf cappuccino (this happens often). So the coffee was great, not the best barista system, but they just opened. I have continued to go here because I can walk from work. It is a really cozy place, great to meet up with friends or a coffee break with coworkers. The coffee is delicious, the treats are OK, a little pricey though. How great your service is depends on the day, but it has never been awful, just "eh" on occasion. I recommend you see for yourself. I had a strawberry mocha latte that was off the charts good!

Rare these days to find a coffee shop in the suburbs that can make a good expresso or macchiato. While the Zen Den is new, I was impress by the deftly poured single macchiato I had the other day, which I enjoyed in their spacious lounge area. Wifi works well (though you have to ask for the password... ) and the chairs are comfortable. May not be conducive to working if there is a large group in talking.

They use Colombe coffee but for some reason it's nowhere near as good as Colombe. Best thing in the place is the Bacon Egg and Gouda sand. You can pick between bagel and croissant which is always a win win.

I consider The Zen Den my office away from home. As a regular, it kind of feels like Cheers...where everybody knows your name(: My beverage of choice is soy chai latte, but I recently indulged in Wanna Nirvana tea. The grilled cheese is classically gooey. Yummy treats. Friendly folks behind the counter. I've been there when there have been stage performers...mostly folky, bluesy stuff. I enjoy the art gallery with work created by local artists. I love bringing friends there.

The only reason this place is getting one star is because zero is not an option. I wanted to like this place- so my fiancee and I gave this place three tries- but it struck out every time. Our first visit occurred within the first week of Zen Den's opening, and, to give them credit, about an hour before close. The barista looked exceptionally pissed that we had walked in, and treated us with a complete lack of care- basically threw our cappuccinos at us as quickly as possible. Our second visit occurred around 3 p.m. after about a month of their being open, and we were treated with a lot more warmth; however the barista must not have been trained because when we inquired about what white teas were available she acted as if she had never heard of it before and said about as much. Thankfully, a woman whom I presume to be the owner intervened and told us about the three different varieties of white tea. Unfortunately, both versions we tried (which we allowed to brew for five minutes) ended up being completely tasteless, so much so that we threw it out. Our final visit was about a month ago, around 6pm, and, similar to Robert L. our barista was more interested in their cell phone than actually doing their job. It took her a few minutes to realize we were there, and again was completely clueless as to what tea was in stock. This time I opted for a green tea which was listed, but it was not is stock, so I decided on another, supposedly similar option, which ended up being stale. The Zen Den should look into hiring better baristas who actually care enough to learn their offerings and would like to treat their job seriously.

Think: cozy. Located on a back alley in a cute historic downtown Zen Den is full of small charm like it's rhyming name suggests. It's quite a large newly refurbished space (which it doesn't look like from the outside). Inside there's lots of wooden surfaces, books, some restored furniture, overstuffed everything, and lots of quaint artifacts and nick-nacks. It's early now so its just ~40something guys in running gear but I assume a bunch of SUV moms will be in here after dropping off the kids at school. The barista was very nice. She didn't know what to do with my foursquare coupon but was gracious about it. She also fixed the wifi and asked if I was okay with the music (Pavement Radio on Pandora (which is okay with me)). My tip: there's free parking down the street and the fantastic la columbe coffee starts a buck - not bad at all!

I have been to the Zen Den quite a few times. It is a nice and inviting place to sit and read. The warm coffee and espresso drinks have great depth and flavor thanks to the La Columbe coffee. I am so happy that they use these roasters. When I went there last week, I did not meet the five dollar minimum but the barista still let me buy my drink. Every time I go with my screaming child in a stroller, everyone is nice and understanding. The owners seem perfectly nice to me and the staff courteous and friendly.

Comfy seating and good selection of upscale baked goods make this a good place to stop by and relax. Some of the bakery items were a bit pricey though.

Great coffee shop. We love to come here when we visit Doylestown. They take care in the coffees and use a good bean. Good service abd friendly staff.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. I was pretty hungry so i ordered the curry chicken salad wrap-which was delicious, but it cost me $6 and was THE smallest wrap i had ever seen and came with nothing else. I am still hungry.

Loss of stars for blatantly horrible service. The dark haired guy is s-o s-l-o-w. Then with four customers waiting, you're seriously going to stand there and watch your coworker's conversation while twirling an empty bottle around??!? Dude, WORK. That's why you're behind the counter. We left and went to the Italian place around the corner.

First trip ever to Doylestown. Lavender and coconut tea were fantastic! Great customer service and friendly people. Great atmosphere and environment for studying. Laid back piano and saxophone music on a Sunday. Tucked away in the back with my laptop and nobody bothers me. Perfection!

While ordering, I was treated disrespectfully by an older woman who I assume is the manager or owner. The coffee was average. It was a hot spring day outside and the place didn't have working air conditioning. It was uncomfortable. On the bright side, the decor of the place is original, comfortable and hip, much nicer than that national chain down the street.
