I have been going here for years and years. I have never truly been a huge fan of Hibachi--accidents happen, and I never really want to be "entertained" when I am catching up with old friends or on a date. That being said, I have done the hibachi here and it is perfectly fine. I prefer to eat in one of the normal, sit down tables--very nice to have that option! The food is really good--I am addicted to their salad dressing for their side salad, as well as their sweet potato roll. The place is also really chic, especially for dinner. They redid the place a few years back and really made it look good--even the bathrooms are gorgeous. My favorite time to come is for lunch--they have great lunch choices at really great prices. I've gotten the bento box lunch and also the roll lunch. It is definitely my favorite place to get some Japanese food when I'm visiting the parents in dtown.

Really like this place. Far and away my favorite entree at Ooka is the James Bond roll. Simply outstanding. I love the option of soy paper rather than seaweed. Excellent ginger dressing for salads. Fresh oysters, love the duck appetizer with pear compote. I don't really go for Hibachi, but I have to admit that what I've tasted of my husband's meals has been very good. If you've had a poor experience here, I advise you to give it another try. I've never had a bad meal at Ooka.

Hey, this isn't a bad place at all. We called in asking if they had any reservations open for the evening and they had an opening. We came in to the parking lot and we saw there were no other parking spaces so we had to park at the Wendy's across the street and run over in the pouring rain. Yet, whatever, they can't help that it's raining of course... so we come in, 5 minutes early and were told that our seats just needed to be cleaned. So we (my mom and I) ended up waiting on 2 of the chairs that were right next to the door and was was kind of in a bad place. They seem to have no waiting area, which makes me wonder how chaotic it gets when a large group of people come in and are told to wait. Anyway, after waiting about 15 minutes for them to clean up our table, we were seated. We sat next to 3 other couples, and one of them we chatted with throughout our dinner... anyway, our server seemed to be very busy and rushing around, which I totally understand as I work in a restaurant.... yet my mom asked him for some sugar for her tea and we waited about 5 minutes until we realized he forgot. My mom asked him again and he nodded and ran off.... after awhile my mom was getting pretty impatient, so when he came back to get the tables orders, afterwards, my mom reminded him for the 3rd time. The 3rd time was the charm because a few moments later he came back with the sugar. Also, we asked for tempura sushi for our appetizer and got regular shrimp tempura instead. We figured it would be too much of a hassle for him to send it back, so we ate it anyway. Our cook was nice, but wasn't as fun as all the others around us. Again, we shrugged and didn't care that much since everyone was just so darn hungry!! The food was pretty good.... nothing special compared to all the other hibachi places I've been to. After dinner, we ordered a chocolate lava cake and it was very good as well! Overall, the service was just okay, and the hibachi food was about the same compared to many others I've been to. This was our first experience at an Ooka restaurant and were not that impressed. We figured we caught them on an off night and we decided we would give them another go in the future.

Appetizers: My age dofu was more than generous - at least a half pound - too much for an appetizer. Beautiful presentation. Golden tempura crust on large cubes of silken tofu. Quite good with a mild soy dipping sauce. My wife enjoyed her sashimi sampler of a selection of small pieces of five different fish. Main course: The miso soup was pretty good with bits of tofu and nori, served at the proper temperature. The salad was just lettuce and a slice of cucumber with a nondescript bottle-type dressing. My entree of the Regular sashimi was 15 pieces of the usual generic fish displayed on shiso leaves on a huge bowl of crushed ice. The tuna and salmon were recognizable, but the white fish could have all come from the species given the absence of flavor/texture. There was some shredded daikon under the leaves, and a too small amount of pickled ginger and the wasabi (green tinted horseradish paste) was dried out. The wife's shrimp tempura had five large shrimp and a few vegetables that were battered and fried to a perfect crispness, except the veggies were too thick. Why is it that when four women get together for a night out, they are seated at a table next to us, and it always turns into a contest to see which one can be the loudest? On a scale of 0-5, I give Ooka no more than a 2, which is about what can be expected around here. Maybe we'll try Morimoto's place in Philly some day.

brought 12 people here for a special event. we did not want hibachi so I reserved a table -- or a bunch of them pushed together -- and was really pleased with the spiffy setup. the service was efficient and friendly and the food was high quality as always, delivered in a timely way. lots of newcomers with me and they thoroughly enjoyed their rolls and entrees. made me so happy to share one of my fave doylestown hangs with people who hadn't eaten there before. we will likely do it again in a couple months.

I almost hate to write this review as Ooka Doylestown has been such a shining star for so long, but that star has gone out and fallen... We had a group of 12 at the Hibachi grill this past weekend. Entrees ordered were a good representation of the menu: chicken, salmon, calamari, steak, shrimp and vegetarian. The "show" was pretty bland and felt like the chef was annoyed with our group. More important, the food was an incredible let-down. The fried rice was served first, then the noodles, then almost 10 minutes later, the protein was placed on the plates, then 4-5 minutes later the veggies added. This means 15 minutes passed from the rice being served to the dish being complete, making for a cold plate of food. The rice was overcooked (before frying) and clumped together. Underseasoned and very light on the additives (peas, carrots, egg, onion). The noodles were just drowned in soy and sake and then thrown on the plate. In addition to throwing the usual piece of food into the diners mouth, the chef has a squeeze bottle of sake he's spray in your mouth...only his aim was a bit off and you ended up with a ton of sake on your face and on your shirt. I'm pretty sure I could have gotten a DUI just for the amount of sake on my shirt driving home! In addition to the hibachi menu, I ordered some sushi. I've had supermarket end-of-the-day sushi which tasted better and more fresh. The rice was cold and falling apart. The fish itself all had something of a smokey taste to it, not a "smoked" taste, but like someone had just smoked a cigarette and then handled the fish. It was disgusting, this is the first time I've ever left uneaten sushi on my plate. The service was just as bad, the sushi arrived mid meal and there was a good 5 minutes between the roll being delivered and the sashimi plate. Our waitress was friendly, but impossible to find again to get refills on drinks, then, we were charged for additional "soft drinks", even though everyone ordered only beer and sake. What was once a shining jewel of Doylestown is now nothing but a struggling tourist trap. Fortunate for you, there's still Ooka Montgomeryville which continues to delight and impress every time we eat there.

Excellent sushi restaurant in the Philly suburbs. Came in for dinner with a collegue and ordered the sashimi regualr which came with soup and salad for $21. Soup was good and freshly prepared. Salad was your standard bottled dressing but was a decent size and had more than just lettuce. Sashimi was fresh and well prepared. I asked to have some more interesting items to replace the old stand bys of fake crab, octopus and boiled shrimpo and was happy to receive mackeral, spanish mackeral and toro. Service was very good and the decor was chic and comfortable. Recommended.

This is only for lunch. This is my go to place for lunch . Get the Bento Boxes. There are five choices. They range from $11 to $15 you get miso soup, salad with ginger carrot dressing. And the box with sweet potatoes California rolls, rice, tempura veggies and one tempura shrimp two dumplings and your entree. The food is always excellent. If you order off the menu it's still good but not a stone cold bargain . The boxes are only at lunch not dinner.

I am from Ohio and visit friends in the area every year. This was a great place either for sit down sushi or hibachi. I look forward to returning again next year. One thing to add is that with the size of the restaurant it is best to call ahead for seating.

  • Janel A.

I've only been for hibachi. The food is good but a bit expensive, and it's probably only worth the price if you go in a group. The main entrees are average, but I especially enjoy their salad (I'm in love with their dressing) and soup.

To add on to some other reviews... Things are changing at Ooka..... What a shame. We have been coming to Ooka for years and used to love it. The last few visits have been extremely disappointing. The sushi has gone down hill. There is no personal care put into the fish:( SAD day We went with a party for the hibachi grill recently. What a disappointment... This used to be an awesome experience. We'd had birthday parties here and spent many special days watching the chef put on a show. First off, EVERY at the table got sick. I didn't want to say anything when we were eating and figured it was just me. I didn't want to ruin everyone else's meal. The scallops and shrimp did not taste right. The chicken was off.. Definitely OFF. What the hell guys.... and I feel like there is nobody there to talk to .... The manager just looks at you like they an not speak English, unless you are ordering and getting ready to pay, then they understand you perfectly... This is unacceptable guys.. We have paid you a small fortune over the past 7 years. Don't be cheap. Throw out your old food, don't serve it!!! We had kids that got sick and that could have taken a wrong turn.... We will not be coming back to Ooka after years of loyalty.... Customer service sucks.. (which when your food is top-notch, customers can look past), but when your food quality goes down hill, you have no right to be haughty. Pull it together Oooka or get out of Doylestown!!! P.S. it was obvious that the Hibachi "show" has expired as well... Definitely not fresh

Horrible experience. Went with friends to the Doylestown location. Waitress forgot have of our order. We had to remind her that not all the sushi has been brought. She kept on disappearing in the back and would not come out to check up on us or refill drinks. When desert came out we had a white looking bug run out of it across the table. The manager came out to apologize and said that it was from one of the trees!!! We were horrified to say the least. Will never go to this location again.

Great ambiance Good for intimate and for groups and with kids. Great bar. Hibachi area active. Attentive service. Very contemporary decor. A really good place. That's why we keep coming back!

So so good! We only get the sushi, so I can't comment on the hibachi, but everything we try is just delicious. My husband and I usually go here for a much needed date night and the atmosphere is lovely and calm. I think it is priced well and I appreciate the strong cocktails they make. My favorite roll is the purple roll . . . they don't have it on the menu at the Montgomery location, so Doylestown has been our go to place!

Let me begin by saying I am a self-proclaimed hibachi expert. I've dined at almost every hibachi steakhouse in eastern PA, NJ, and Manhattan. Ooka is exceptional. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was the absence of certain Japanese dining traditions such as providing dinner guests with hot towels to clean their hands. Also, Ooka can be a bit skimpy with the sauces. Otherwise, the food is outstanding! Incredible fried rice and noodles. Steak cooked to perfection. The Shrimp is very flavorful. And, the chef is usually very entertaining, but that depends on who you get. The decor of the restaurant is sexy and, overall, the entire establishment is very clean.

Came here the other night to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and the service just about spoiled the whole dinner. The waiter, who was apparently new, and also working on a busy saturday night, got my boyfriend's order wrong despite writing it down in his order pad. They had to re-fire my boyfriend's dish, so I waited to eat until he had his dish, only when his dish finally arrived mine was stone cold so the manager now went to re-fire my dish. Being completely frustrated I told my boyfriend to just eat while I waited for mine to come out again. So he finished his meal before mine even came back out AND they had forgotten the soup and salad with the entrees, which I didn't even bother bring up because I wasn't trying to get the waiter in anymore trouble then he already was in with his boss. They were apologetic but after bring there for 2 and a half hours with us basically watching each other eat I was expecting more than just a sorry. Really shouldn't be having new staff working on busy weekends messing up 2 person tables.

We LOVE Ooka! Service is friendly and well-timed. Drinks are great. Food is so delicious! Ambiance is cozy and modern. Moderately priced. We always dine in their "regular dining" area, but they have hibachi too. I haven't experienced that enough to comment though. At any rate, definitely go -- best sushi in the area by far!

  • Seymore D.

Consistently terrific food, consistently terrible service from the women at the front desk. Just awful service. Terrible. Really no good at all. Especially from the Middle Aged Asian Lady, to whom I must appear to be a dog turd, freshly rolled in from outside on the shoe of an errant toddler. I'm not a model, but I didn't show up in a sweatsuit or anything either. So if you like awesome Japanese cuisine and being treated like you're invisible, Ooka is the restaurant for you!

  • Karen F.

So very disappointed and actually... SAD. Yes, I left Ooka tonight feeling sad. Sad - for the fact that we had food (entrees) so bad that we had to send it back. Sad - to see my favorite D-town sushi spot be anything other than the wonderful we usually expect. Sad - to have had to defend my right to consume undercooked meat or seafood products. Just sad. Do not order duck breast here. I did - and asked for medium rare - and that duck had the quack cooked right out of it. As usual the seared striped bass with foie gras was excellent. Everything else? MEH, So sad to have to give out 2 Meh stars to Ooka. We pray that when and If we give them another chance that they will redeem themselves. Sad Sad Sad.

We came here for lunch with my fiancé's 10 year old nephew. And we're greeted by very friendly staff. Our waiter was very patient with our 10 year old who was new to Japanese food. I appreciate that very much. Unfortunately, the sushi and sashimi were horrendous. The sushi rice lacked vinegar and was so dry it didn't even hold form and my fiancé's sashimi was cut too thick. These are the challenges of the non-Japanese serving Japanese food; Ooka had a Chinese staff and judging by their good I'm guessing a Chinese chef as well. Sashimi should be cut in a way that the fish is able to fit in ones mouth without you shoving it in, and thin enough that it can almost melt in your mouth. My fiancé looking like she was chewing gum! My sushi was so dry it was hard to handle and fell apart. It was sad. I do have to say that the miso soup was really good.

I don't expect to find such high quality sushi when I am so far away from a major body of water. I've been here for lunch a few times and I've been very satisfied with each experience. I'm going to start by saying that the salad is one of the better complimentary lunch salads that I've had at a Japanese restaurant. While I won't turn down wilting lettuce and a boring ginger dressing at the average sushi bar, I'm usually not excited to get it. By contrast, Ooka always provides fresh, crispy salad with a delicious, peanutty dressing. It is above average. The miso soup is OK. The sushi is always solid. I have to give special props to the rice, which has just enough vinegar to make your tongue acknowledge the taste of vinegar. It is sticky and well cooked and worth your attention. The sushi and sashimi lunch is very good. The chefs throw in tiny bits of creativity here and there(such as a little masago on a piece of yellowtail sushi) that amplify the power of your lunch. I like Ooka.

I love sushi! This is place is one of my favorites to come. The food is exceptional, service not so much, bringing an appetizer after entrees? And not having what is in the menu is totally wrong I pat one Item but 3.

I am a Doylestown native who now lives in Florida. Whenever I come home I make it a point to visit Ooka with my sisters! Sushi-spot on. You really can't go wrong with any of their rolls Hibachi-yum-exactly what you usually get (which is a good thing!) Drinks-Average prices but still good for an upscale Dtown restaurant Service-friendly, especially the servers and hibachi chefs Ambiance- loud and busy at dinner, subdued at lunch

good sushi, close to home. excellent for lunch.

Awesome sushi- I've eaten here at least a dozen times and never had a bad meal. And I think that says a lot for the quality of fish they bring in. I've had bouts of nausea and borderline food poisoning with several other sushi establishments in the area, but never here. Also, the decor is very sharp, and the bar makes good stiff drinks.

4 girlfriends and I had lunch at Ooka today and it was wonderful and budget friendly (which is really important to me). I don't often eat out because I'm trying to save money but Ooka's bento boxes were a good deal. I choose the tempura chicken option for $11 (see picture) and this included a small salad with ginger dressing and miso soup. There was plenty of food for lunch and I even brought about 1/3 home and will have to dinner. My other favorite Ooka items are the sakura roll and crunchy roll but at $9 and $11 each they're a bit out of my budget.

I absolutely love coming to this restaurant, the food is delishious and the hibachi is a great show and the chefs were hilarious. Great sushi! The staff is very kind and the atmosphere is great. My only problem is the price, for it being a small chain restaurant the food is way too expensive. If you want hibachi you walk out a broke man but if you sit in the restaurant section the prices drop. The food is great but it's debatable if it is worth the money.

Learned of Ooka from Yelp while in the area. Nicely decorated inside. We had sushi but observed hibachi chef who was entertaining. sweet potato rolls, special California roll and rainbow roll were all very good. Edamame and miso soup good as well. Ginger dressing on salad was lovely. service was attentive. The restaurant filled up very quickly for lunch just after we arrived at 12:15 on a Saturday. Glad we stopped and we would come again when in area.

OK, I will preface this by saying I am a P.I.T.A customer and a retired chef, therefore I am the first to complain about everything... Number one, the fish was impeccably fresh and delicious and portions were generous. The restaurant decor was lovely and unexpected. Our server was attentive, courteous, professional and discreet. accommodating my quirky requests without batting an eyelash. On the down side, the music was too darn loud, and annoying to boot. AND, the screeching and fake laughter from the hibachi chefs completely grated on my nerves (I told you I was a pain in the *ss). Enough with the minor griping! We started with seaweed salad that was quite fresh and tasty and didn't smack of "off the shelf" H-Mart. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his spider roll, spicy tuna roll, and OOKA house special roll. I have an obsession with this sashimi dish I fell in love with, so I ordered all the ingredients a la carte, and assembled the dish at the table as I ate. Neither the server, the kitchen, nor the sushi chefs ever skipped a beat. They brought me every ingredient I asked for promptly, without a hint of attitude. Overall, a delicious meal, great service, and we will definitely go back.

  • Larry M.

Ok, so the food is very good, but the service was just horrendous. It took an amazingly long time for our appetizer to come out, then the main course came out immediately out- a big no-no in my book for this kind or restaurant. The waiter was nowhere to be seen; didn't get a water refill until we were almost done. I didn't dare order another drink for fear that I wouldn't get it until after we were done. Yeah, it was a Friday night and they were very busy, but so what. It's not a cheap place to go and I expect better. Stay away on weekend nights.

The Best Hibachi Steak and Fried Rice around!!! I was first introduced to Ooka about five years ago; it was love at first bite. I have been to my fair share of hibachis', but Ooka is just simply better than the rest. Very fun atmosphere, great for the family, first dates, birthday parties, any excuse try it! Personal favorite Filet and Scallop Combo

Yum! I've always enjoyed my food and experience at Ooka. Pretty typical food from a Japanese/sushi restaurant. Nothing too special beyond that but I really enjoy typical food from a Japanese/sushi restaurant so no complaints. Well, I only have one complaint which is that they put mushrooms in their miso soup. The ambiance is more upscale than your typical sushi place. I think it would be a nice place to go on a date if you wanted to get Japanese food.

I remember the Japanese restaurant that was there at this location before Ooka moved in. It was a small family owned place and so much better than Ooka. Ooka needs to learn to tone down the music. Every one of their restaurants (they are a chain ) are tooooo loud !! They also need to step up a bit on the food. They think that they are "all that" but they aren't. Madame Butterfly in Doylestown was great and so is now To-yo. Look at their menu compared to Ooka. And Cho Cho San in Montgomeryville kicks butt with tasty dishes and so many more selections to choose from. If you want to travel for Japanese food prepared by real Japanese cooks, then go to Roberto's of Tokyo in Allentown. The cooks and service staff are all actually Japanese there, unlike Ooka. Ooka is a chain and it reminds me of PF Changs, which is like the TGIF Friday's of Chinese. Yuck.

I'm still fairly new to sushi but I was impressed with what I had here. Fresh, flavorful and quick service! Also tried warm saki for the first time, definitely takes getting used to and probably should have waited until the winter since hot saki doesn't really pair well with heat waves! Nonetheless, it's a clean, fun place to go and I'll be back to broaden my "raw fish wrapped with a variety of fun things and rice" horizons.

Stopped in last week with friends for dinner and was so happy with my experience. The waitstaff was all very pleasant and very attentive. My friends and I ordered the sushi pizza to see how Ooka's was - we'd had it once before at the now defunct Megumi in Warrington and wanted to compare. Ooka blew Megumi away! When it came out looking appetizing and didn't smell like cat food, we were already impressed and it tasted as good as it looked! I ordered the Out of Control roll that is tuna, salmon, avocado and tobiko. Very fresh and delicious! I also ordered a Shiitake Mushroom roll which, as expected, contains shiitake mushroom, cucumber inside/outside with smoked salmon, shrimp and avocado. Also fresh and delicious! For dessert, we shared the Green Tea and Red Bean Creme Brulee - yum! Very creamy and decadent. The red bean was regular creme brulee on top of some red bean curds - interesting and tasty! Will certainly return.

Hands down the best sushi restaurant in Doylestown and the surrounding burbs. Ooka has a fun atmosphere and inventive rolls that will blow you away. They also have habachi which seems to be great fun based on the loud laughs and oooo's and ahhh's coming from that section. The service is always spot on too!

Great food - terrible to go service. Can not get an order right. Last 3 times they averaged 50% accuracy. Ill eat their great food but ill never order to go again. Management does not fix the problem, they argue. In house service is ok and the food is great.

More laid back than the Montgomeryville Ooka, but I enjoy coming here for good sashimi. They have a lot of cooked rolls on the menu which I'm not a fan of.. but can't go wrong with my usual spicy tuna rolls. Parking lot is a bit small but I haven't had a problem when I came here on two occasions. Will return!

As of March 2015 this place is still the best...EVERY time we go in there its outstanding...never disappointed...you can't miss by going here...we like to go when it's not busy on the weekend, like around 1:30...and we just tried for the first time the fried tofu appetizer & it was great... Previous Writeup - Excellent food and service all of the time...we never leave Ooka without saying, "they are the best Japanese" ever...I get the Bento Box with Chilean Sea Bass and my girlfriend gets some veggie rolls or the sesame chicken...we love their salad dressing and would drink a bowl of it if they brought it to us! Nice atmosphere too. Can get crowded on the weekend, so pick an off time to get in and enjoy a quieter Ooka.

I've been going here for years and thought Ooka was great. But over the last year I feel like the place is showing its age and it's loosing it's attention to detail that used to make it great. It's not that the food isn't still good or the service Is lacking bc it is still better than a lot of places around, but when I go there I'm just getting disgusted by the smell and general wear and shabby look of the place. The tables and chairs are worn and sticky and it frankly smells like piss which is the biggest turn off to me. Perhaps they've become a bit complacent with their success. If they could just clean the place really well and replace whatever the hell smells so bad in there, I'd be a fan again and update my review. Until then, I'll go to To-Yo sushi in the center of Doylestown which has really set a new standard for sushi around town. I have to admit, it's much better quality and flavor than anything at Ooka I've ever had. It reminds me of what Ooka used to be and it doesn't smell like piss. ;) Much better presentation on the dishes over Ooka as well.

Ok...here we go again... My son wanted to go to Ooka for dinner on the evening of his 14th birthday (which fell on a Wednesday- we'd had a party at home on the prior weekend), so I made a reservation for 3 at the Sushi Bar (that's his favorite place to sit). Our server was absolutely wonderful. I had mentioned that we were there to celebrate my son's birthday. She was very nice and wished him a happy one. Our meals and the service were excellent (just as they always consistently are). When it came time to order our desserts, I was certain that by that point our server wouldn't have been thinking about my son's birthday. Well, when she came over with our desserts there was a lit candle in my son's chocolate fudge cake and she sang "Happy Birthday" with my husband and me!!! How thoughtful of her!!! Then, when I took a picture of my son with his dessert, she asked us if we would like her to take a picture of the 3 of us together! So nice!!! We had a beautiful dinner and enjoyed everything about our experience at Ooka yet again. You know that a restaurant is good when the food and service are consistently good and not just a hit or miss experience from one visit to the next. We will most definitely be back!

I had the hibachi lunch special awhile ago, it was great! The food is very fresh and it is a fun atmosphere with friendly chefs preparing the delicious food. I have wanted to return, I think I would if the price were a little lower. Still, it is a nice restaurant, friendly service and great food.

I've been too Ooka a few times and have had great experience each time. Hibachi is always a good time nobody where you go. The chefs are friendly and playful, which makes the whole dining experience much better. Don't know how else to judge the hibachi because - and it might be a sin for an Asian to say this - I think all hibachi pretty much tastes the same. It's always delicious, as long as the chef is not a moron and doesn't overcook the meat. I've only been there once recently where actually ordered off the dinner and sushi menu. It was Easter night and I was ready for my third dinner. Ooka was one of the few restaurants open and it was glorious. I ordered the sauteed udon noodles, a spicy salmon skin roll, and a yellowtail w/ scallion roll.... like I said, a small third dinner... The udon noodles were spectacular. Plump and tender noodles, sauteed with shiitake mushrooms, scallions, veggies, and chicken. The sauce was rich and tasty. The sushi was awesome. Now that's something an Asian should know. Spicy salmon skin roll had the perfect balance of saltiness & chewness from the skin and succulent & melt-in-your-mouth raw salmon in the middle. Decor and ambiance is fantastic. Go Try. Now.

Terrible place. TERRIBLE service. I was ripped off, and would never return. They should be ashamed of themselves!!! I ordered a $12 glass of wine, and I kid you not, it was about a 4 ounce pour!!! For our meals they asked," white rice or fried rice" I ordered fried rice, and it was a $3 up charge per person...but no one else in the party of six was asked... JUST ME! $18 for soy sauce, scallions and eggs?! I ordered three meals to share with my husband and two kids: Filet Mignon, Chicken and Vegetable. Towards the end of the meal, when our party of six, and the other two people at our hibachi table were obviously eating the same vegetable mix, I kindly told the chef that I had ordered the vegetarian entree, and he said, "It right there on your plate! You got more than normal." Not sure if he was talking about quantity or quality, but I can assure you everyone got the same exact size and items on their plate. I got NOTHING more than what was included with the meal. What a joke. Learn English and service... your service is destroying what could be a hot spot.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I've eaten at Ooka twice and gotten takeout once, and every time I've gotten a bento box lunch. So the scope of this review is slightly more narrow than I would like it to be. That said, I think Ooka is pretty delicious. The aforementioned bento boxes are filling and there's a ton of delicious things included: rice, meat, two slices of California roll, two pot-stickers (or dumplings), two tempura items, two chunks of candied sweet potatoes, plus a bowl of miso soup and a small salad. The green tea is smooth and buttery (although once it was too hot! I had to wait forever before I was able to start drinking it). The ambiance is nice, (fresh and clean-- very, um, Japanese, I understand), and the service even nicer. I'd like to go back for dinner and enjoy the teppanyaki cooking sometime, but if I'm stuck with bento boxes forever, that's okay, too.

I've eaten at several local sushi restaurants, and ooka is by far my favorite. You can tell it's high-quality sushi right away. I absolutely love the crispy spicy salmon roll. I always get one as an appetizer. After that I always get sushi. They also have a fantastic drink menu, as well as traditional japanese fare for those who aren't into sushi. We've also gone to the hibachi side of ooka as well, which is great for larger get-togethers. The hibachi filet is amazing. The decor is modern with an asian flare. Very cool.

Ordered take out tonight, called and told 20 minutes. Figured I would give them an extra 5, got there and waited another 30 minutes for my order. No sorry for the delay, no want to have a drink while you wait, no discount for the delay. The food is good but we will not be going back anytime soon. Honesty is always the best policy.

went to this place many times, had my dog in the car on a 50 degree day. Was sitting at the Sushi Bar when this Asian woman who I later found out was a friend of the owners came in. She began to complain about my dog in the car. I got up and told her it was my dog and what was the problem? She tried to say it was hot out. I thought for a minute even going outside into the cool fall day, realizing not only was it cool out but my windows were open! I realized they just did not like my Dog being near their place. They just hate Dogs! So if you want to go somewhere where people hate dogs than go to this place. The woman also called the cops on me to when I refused to pay the check! So I paid the bill and left before the cops came. I don't like to cause drama. The people here are animal haters and the biggest asshole I ever met

Five stars because it's as good as it is for this area. Started with gyoza and edamame then a variety of sushi rolls and soups. Food came out fast and well put together. Dessert was also good the Mochi was tasty. Decent beer and sake menu. Service and prices are good.

I've been here twice. The first time the waitress was dismal. She stayed just long enough to slide food quickly on the table, mumble a quick response to a question, and take an order. She never checked on us and was not helpful in answering questions. So why come back if the service sucked? The food was good! My sushi was super fresh and well prepared and my husband's tempura was light, crisp and delicious. I had a hankering for a roll, so I figured lets give Ooka another chance and hope for a better server. I'm glad we went because our waiter was very nice, helpful and patient is answering questions and giving suggestions. Our meal was just as tasty as the first so we'll return but this time maybe we'll try the hibachi.

Love this place. Have been going here for years, haven't ever been disappointed when I left. The ambiance and overall feel of the restaurant is very pleasant and beautiful. Service at times can be slow, which can be expected coz the dining room is often full - but they seem to have plenty of staff to assure you that you won't have to wait long, but I often end up waiting a little while. What I love about the service is that the servers do everything un-extraordinarily. I am there to eat good food and maybe enjoy some sake, I don't need my server trying to raise their tip my chewing my ear off or being fraudulent. They go about the business of service without smothering their guest. The food is pricey, which is almost to be expected in Doylestown. But what is now a restaurant chain you'd think they'd make things a little more affordable. They're going to need to with other sushi places popping up and more restaurants offering raw fish nowadays. Recommend. Bring your wallet and an interesting date, you'll be spending a lot of time together. There also is Hibachi there. Not my type of thing, but is great for groups of friends looking for a good time. Unfortunately, a lot of highschool kids use the Hibachi, so you may have to dine next to some chumps if you want to try it out.

Best Hibachi place ever! I go here with friends or family at least once a month. The food is so good and the chefs are so nice and fun! The portions are always huge and full of flavor! Love that they have a full bar, sushi and that you can just do regular dining. Always get the brown rice...so yummy!

I love hibachi. In Wilkes-Barre, where I currently reside, we have a number of hibachi places - and still, I dream of Ooka. Everything has so much flavor - the noodles, the sauces - they don't just throw a bunch of meat and veg on a grill and call it a day. I definitely crave the food at this place because of their seasonings.

I can honestly say that I eat at ooka every week. Their hibachi is moderately prices for a hibachi restaurant, but they give you a lot of food for the the money. -I always get Scallops & Salmon hibachi- THE SALMON IS AMAZING. Salmon and scallops are not available on the menu as a hibachi combination's!) but just say it, they waitress wont notice lol. -also try their "special" sushi on the chalk board, I always get the Uni sushi (sea urchin). it is $9 for 2 pieces but it is worth it -You will NEED a reservation if you plan on eating anytime from 5-8 on a Saturday's found out the hard way) -Also, if your looking for the telephone number for ooka and look it up on your phone, it will bring up 2 Ooka restaurants, make sure you pick the Doylestown location, so you don't order a pickup order and call the wrong restaurant. (i have dont this before :/ ) They have the BEST GINGER DRESSING. order extra with your salad that comes with your hibachi dinner.

A very stylish joint just outside of Doylestown's downtown. The seating is sectioned off so the sushi lovers can sit quietly in stylish, yet comfortable, plush seats while others can enjoy the hibachi show. The bar is stocked with an appropriate mix of Japanese favorites (I'm talking Sapporo) and local favorites. The parent store to two other locations (Montgomeryville and Willow Grove), this place is becoming a suburban staple when it comes to high quality sushi. All of the usual suspects are on the menu (Philadelphia Roll, spicy tuna, etc). There are a few special rolls, but nothing worth noting. Prices are reasonable, but its the quality that sets this place apart. At first peak, you wonder "is it style without substance?" I'm telling you, this place hits the mark. Well worth the trek out here when you're done visiting historic downtown.

Always great service and a really great meal here whether you're eating in the regular dining area or doing hibachi. The hibachi chefs are a riot and the portions are large! Love the dragon roll, any of the tempuras they offer, and the ginger salad.

This place is a gem! The lobster dynamite roll is my far the best sushi roll I have ever tasted. I can never go too long without having one! The staff is super friendly and the food is legit. If you havent been here you're missing out.

"Ooka, one of life's great dining pleasures." - that's a little over the top, and I wouldn't say they're THAT super duper orgasmic, but they're not to be overlooked. My family and I had dinner here awhile ago and found their sushi to be fresh and well-prepared, and had no bad experiences with service. This is a small place, and not as large as their other location, in Willow Grove, PA. If their hibachi is anything like Willow Grove's - delicious - check them out! Worth a trip if you're in the neighborhood.

Solid hibachi spot on Doylestown. The place has a NYC feel to the inside which makes me feel sort of at home. The food was very good, didn't try the sushi but after reading some of these reviews I will make sure I do next time around. Was there with a group of six and the hibachi chief was very fun and entertaining. We got plenty of food and was stuffed but the end of the meal. The main bar looked like it could be fun for a Friday or Saturday night also, with TV's with the sports games on and good looking people standing around. Will defiantly be returning to this place. Does get busy so parking can be tricky at times.

Went here for my Girlfriend and I's first date....needless to say the food was delicious! She picked it out and I said sure why not...This was my first time having Sushi and I now love it! My favorite dishes from here are the Ginger Salad and also the Spider Roll. The service was top notch and our waitress was super friendly and courteous. If your looking for a good spot to take a date, this would be it!

Gave Ooka a second chance before posting but disappointed again. Subpar sushi that wasn't tightly wrapped, crumbled right away, and cost us a $1 extra for every roll that we wanted with brown rice. A $1 for brown rice substitute per roll...really?!....first time that ever happened and will be the last for us at this Ooka.

We got to Doylestown a day before Thanksgiving Day and my husband's mother took us for dinner here. It was around 8 PM. We went without reservation. We waited at the bar for while and were seated to Sushi section. This place also offers Teppan Yaki, pan grill on other side. It's a good size restaurant. I went for very simple and ordered Chirashi sushi, bed of sushi rice with assorted Sashimi. It was okay. The fish were fine. I liked Octopus. It was cooked prefectly and was juicy. The rice should be Sushi rice but they used just regular white rice and that was disappointing. I guess see no Japanese working there that I shouldn't expect more....but it's a simple easy authentic dish if they would use Sushi rice. I understand if it's a roll, give a interesting name and can be creative as to add many interesting stuff like banana and mango even and works pretty well and with interesting names. There was small salad with my dish. It was crunchy and fresh salad with Thousand Island but I wish the dressing they use were carrot-ginger miso dressing that most of Japanese restaurant use. I like that dressing and make my own at home. It's very easy to make. recipezaar.com/Miso-Carr… My American family ordered some rolls. They were good except Salmon skin was not fresh. It tasted foul. The fried calamari was over cooked for my taste. The calamari were a bit chewy. It's definitely a place if you crave for good Japanese American foods in Doylestown!

I've been to Ooka a bunch of times. This place is pretty good. I've gotten a wide variety of their rolls and sashimi-all of which is pretty damn good. Great seats at the sushi bar-amazing to watch. The servers are always polite, and the price is right on for what you get. Good sake to boot!

Coming from NYC and going to LA and Miami every month means I take my sushi very seriously. I never expected to find such quality and consistency in a small town like Doylestown, PA. Me and the Mrs. love going for lunch (when the kids are at school) and it brings back memories of when we lived in NYC. The bento boxes are a great deal and I love the Yellowtail with Basil oil and the White Tuna. Don't forget desert. We love the deep fried banana with Vanilla ice cream. I seem to also remember enjoying the red bean ice cream.

This is the only Hibachi restaurant that I'll go to in the area. I've been to the others but they don't compare. I've only done hibachi and I've been happy with their service. Sometimes the wait staff takes a long time to bring drinks but the Chefs have always been great. I usually always get the Filet Steak and Chicken dinner. Food is always cooked well and I've never had any issues with the food. I actually brought a party of 15 people here for my Birthday and the manager was very nice and made sure that we were taken care of

I went to Ooka with a friend for an light early dinner per her suggestion. I am a sushi fan, and love asian food so I was all in. Service was prompt--upon entering their facility (which was crowded for a Wednesday!) we were quickly seated and brought our drinks. Their salad--oh my god--it's that ginger dressing..it's so good--I hate bagged type ice-berg lettuce salad..but I ate every single bite because of that dressing (the things I would do with that dressing..mmm) Got a spider roll with spicy mayo sauce on the side (what can I say..I love spicy mayo.) which was delishhhh! I tried a piece of my friends, which was just a philadelphia roll, but generous on the cream cheese which I love, but not TOO much to where it's like I should have just taken off a hunk of Philadelphia Cream Cheese. I got a seafood soup bowl which was good but, interesting (those pink fish cakes scare me, and always will!!). Huge portions. Desert would have been nice, but alas--at the end of our meal, no room! I cant wait to go back, and even to try their newer location in doylestown.. Now I want sushi. Crap.

5 Stars for Sushi and Japanese in Doylestown. It would get 3.5 stars in any major city for sushi but the hibachi gets a solid 4.5 stars for American Hibachi. Let's face it, the sushi selections in this area are slim to none and Ooka stands out above the other 2 places in the area. Try the spicy scallop roll, sea urchin, ooka roll and some sort of foie gras sushi special. The hibachi was fantastic and I highly recommend it. Great for groups, dates, special occasions, and anyone who likes good food in an area that is not famous for Asian cuisine. I lived in NYC for 8 years and San Fran for a couple years and the decor competes with both major cities. Since writing this review I've talked myself into going here tomorrow. If you're reading this maybe I'll see you. I'm the big Indian with some cute kids. If you're deciding between another restaurant and this one... Pick this one and call before you go so you don't have to wait.

The sushi and rolls were excellent. Maguro and sake and yellowtail seemed very fresh. A good find. The atmosphere was pleasant, not too sterile as you sometimes find. Sushi is pricey in general, but that said, this was not one of the uber-expensive sushi restaurants. We'll be back!

I took my wife here on a Saturday for dinner. We are sushi lovers. This is our 3rd time going here. The food is very fresh. They have many unique rolls and appetizers to choose from. This is were it stops for us. Now I don't know if it is a east coast thing, but the quality of service just isn't up to par. They only know the menu and that's it. Go out side of that such as ask them for the house sake to be brought with a ice bucket and they look at you funny like they don't understand. This has happen all 3 times. Personally I prefer the house because it it is smoother and doesn't have such a strong finish. I have tried their other cold sakes and all seem to be strong or have a licorice taste. Not to mention they are extremely expensive!!! From my stand point they are not accommodating. Based on this I won't be back!

Just the best sushi in the area. Can be a little rough parking and getting your take-out in your hands, as it's quite hectic out front. Their hibachi style feature is fun, too, and the chefs here do it as well as anyone in the region.

I love hibachi and this place has by far the yummiest I have had. I won't ever recommend Bennihanna's - but this place has the full package. My boyfriend and I will sit at hibachi and ask for a sushi menu. We then always order an appetizer. The spring rolls are tasty as well at the vegetable dumplings. You will never walk out of this place hungry. The atmosphere is perfect, along with clean-cut, friendly staff. Also, I have never seen but a crumb go ignored - very CLEAN! This is something important to me. When we've gone a month without going, we go through withdrawals! Yum!

This is why I fell in love with sushi. I never eat salads, but I love their ginger salad dressing. The shrimp tempura is amazing. Virtually every roll is a symphony of flavor! They make their own soy sauce, and it is fantastic. No joke...I dip my chop sticks in the soy and lick away like a gerbil at a salt wheel it is so good. It is a very pleasant atmosphere, with the traditional robes of the waitress, the wooden floors, and the gigantic fish in the aquarium. I live in California with plenty of great sushi places. Even so, Ooka remains my all time favorite. Whenever I fly home I make a point to eat here again. Ooka is my "if you were stranded on a desert island" food!

My family took me to Ooka for my birthday seeing as how I love sushi. The environment is well designed and clean and the service was fast and curteous. I ordered an assortment of their special rolls and was not dissappointed. The rolls were well balanced and the meat was perfect, the spicy scallop roll was particularly noteworthy. Others in my family not as occustomed to sushi ordered teriyaki that arrived promptly and very hot, they assure me it was excellent. Overall no complaints and good times were had. Great Japanese joint.

I came here with a friend once and as sat at the bar. We (and I mean just I) got pretty wasted while we eat a whole array of tasty things. The service is among the more gracious I've seen in a long while. If on a date or with that 'special friend' I'd say sit at the bar and order things you've never had before....

Ooka is one of my top destinations for dinner with Friends, and it is certainly perfect for a large party-- but make sure you make your reservations in advance. Ooka recently expanded their Doylestown location, and added a sleek bar where you can comfortably sit while your table is readied. The dining space also had a face-lift. The Sushi here is amazing - the Spicy Tuna Roll is a Must, as is the Philadelphia Roll. It is fun to sit at the Sushi bar to watch the chefs prepare your meal- especially if you are planing on sticking with a quick sushi luch/dinner. If Sushi is not "your bag, baby" then the next best option at Ooka is to eat Hibachi. At Hibachi, you eat at one of a few large tables which surround a grill (usually with another party)-- and watch your meal prepared in front of you. Hibachi dinner comes with clear soup, a small salad, your fish/beef/chicken/etc. entree, veggies, rice, and noodles. The best part of Ooka is really the Hibachi show, wherein most chefs attempt to engage and include everyone dining. Ooka is really fun for all ages, but really I would not suggest a regular table/their Teriaki menu-- as it unfortunately falls short when compared to the rest of what Ooka has to offer.

Bucks County needs good ethnic restaurants- and Ooka got it right. Great ambiance, awesome fresh sushi, creative plates, consistent over time. It is at the top of my list for restaurants in this area. Would be great for a date, good for hibachi with the kids (not our thing, but seems entertaining at the hibachi section). Went there last year for New Years Eve, and that was great too. Of all of the non-traditional American restaurants in the area, this one is among the best.

Ooka was a complete surprise from what I saw on the outside. Interior design of the place was totally hip. Felt like you were in a big city eating out. Food was very good. The sweat potato tempura roll is amazingly good! New York roll and Western roll are both worthy of getting.

when my friend and i first got to the restaurant, we were quickly ushered to a table, but then had to wait about 10 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. $8 for a glass of house pinot noir isn't bad but it's certainly not great either. we got the calamari to start, which was nicely fried but served with a honey mustard, which i thought was weird. anyway, as soon as we finished the last bite, the plates were whisked away and replaced with our entrees. i made a special roll with spicy tuna and mango inside and eel on top. the food came out quickly. maybe i'm being too picky, but there shouldn't be bones in the eel. the spicy tuna was okay. the chunks of mango were too big for the roll. eh. it was okay. again, as soon as i was finished with my meal (before my friend), the plate was taken away. all in all i was satisfied with the reasonable prices, but the food was just okay. you will probably spend about half your bill on drinks. i definitely felt very rushed throughout the entire meal. it would be good for a lunch when you want to be in and out. not so much a dinner. (for better sushi i'd go to madam butterfly.)

A great sushi place and hibachi grill. The atmosphere in the Doylestown Ooka, in particular, is otherworldly that has a dark, cozy feel. The wait staff is friendly and service is good. On the sushi side of things, there are some excellent rolls at Ooka. Try the Crispy, Spicy Salmon Rolls. The fish always tastes very fresh. The sushi prices are reasonable for sushi. For Hibachi, expect a great show. The chefs are #1 good chefs first. The food is always well cooked and never overcooked. A great show? Sure. Expect antics like getting veggies lobbed into your mouth and a few good laughs. The price is definitely more reasonable for lunch, for hibachi, than it is for dinner. Take a $20 for lunch and more for dinner.

While the food has been fantastic at Ooka since the beginning, the hit is for the poor in-house service I've had the last few visits. If you can, go to dinner on a weekday. Weekends are crowded with families with unruly kids making messes. Because they take so many reservations on weekend, you're rushed from the moment you sit down. You can't finish one dish before another is put in front of you and they try to get you out in under an hour. Last time it was so bad (and it was my mother's birthday) that we talked to a manager who gave us a gift card as an apology. Haven't been back on a weekend since.

time to change personnel and get this restaurant back to where it had been a few years ago. Bar is a lack luster environment, with BAD bartenders who cant keep up with orders on an average day leaving the bar unclean between patrons . Left the restaurant tonight on a Thursday @ 9 and all but 1 or 2 tables was occupied and all others were still dirty after patrons had left. BAD morale, Bad customer service, BAD family management (2 exceptions).\. Time to get back to basics and take this business seriously..

We ate there for lunch...it was okay. I just got the scallop bento box. For the price $11.95 the value was good. It was alot of food - scallop veggie stir fry, rice, california roll, miso soup, salad, 1 pc shrimp and veggie tempura and dumplings. The favor was good but the stir-fry was cold. My huband had a dirty martini that was terrible!

Wow! This place was amazing. I stumbled into this place after a rather long nap and was not hungry, but after I started to eat I couldn't stop The interior is beautifully done, just the right amount of light and the textures are wonderful. The service was fast and very friendly, their suggestions were very good as well. Now onto the food: It's hard to find good sushi done right even in Tokyo. The texture and form of the rice is difficult to master and the chefs at Ooka gets it. This was a remarkable experience from the traditional sushi fare to the more experimental (yuzu, cranberry and almonds? so delicious). Delightful was an understatement - the presentation of many of the dishes was stunning as well. While the price was a tad high, it was worth it.

This is my first week in Doylestown and my first restaurant to review in the area. I have to say, I found it to be quite nice. My work colleagues recommended it and as they have been here 3 weeks longer than myself, I trust they have been to a few other places. The fact that they decided to come back is a good sign. Our table decided to get more entrees than sushi this go around but we didn't skip the appetizers. I had the garlic tuna (which I think was a special) and it was very good. The tuna was fresh and the sauce had a nice kick to it at the end. It was served with asparagus spears and some thin noodles. There were two other appetizers ordered at the table but since I was too busy inhaling mine, I didn't pay much attention but they seemed to go over just as well as mine did. I followed this up with an order of the Chilean Sea Bass. Lord, I love this fish! They actually served it teriyaki style but that did not distract from the wonderful flavor. It came on top of some sauteed onions with broccoli and carrots not to mention a bowl of rice. I was stuffed, nicely so. Keep in mind all entrees come with miso soup and salad. I am sure I will be heading back here again with the work team and next time I'll give the sushi a go.

YUMMY! Their sushi is really good, and their hibachi is a really fun time. They chefs that do the table-side hibachi are really friendly and put on a great show. Our family has had a few birthdays here and we always enjoy ourselves. It's not exactly cheap, but their prices are comparable to just about any other hibachi. Worth the money. Oh, and it's BOYB.

Stopped in here for a quick bit of sushi. I've been to the other Ooka locations too, but I suppose each one deserves its own unique review. This Ooka feels more cramped than the other two, but this is probably the only downside to the Doylestown location. The sushi was delicious as usual. I was expecting a real highbrow snob for your average diner here (this is Doylestown after all), but the people next to us were quite friendly; they started talking to my friend about a book he was reading, and it was all very nice.

Absolutely some of the best sushi I've ever had. The fish is so fresh. The salmon is so amazingly creamy and incredible. Leagues above Madam Butterfly. Although it's not quite downtown Doylestown it's worth checking out. It's on the high end of reasonably priced but well worth every cent. Although we usually take out the ambiance is quite nice.

By far, the best sushi in the area, and reasonable priced. They also have some fun and interesting rolls. It gets crowded, so make a reservation if you know you're going to come for dinner, especially on the weekend.

This place has never let me down. The food is top quality and the service is great. They have a full sushi menu for regular dining and hibachi dining available as well. When you walk in you feel like you're in a swanky NYC restaurant with a great ambiance. I would highly recommend this place.

Very expensive, very slow, dirty and arrogant. Had a smoked salmon roll that tasted like a hot dog. Striped bass and foie gras roll was a let down. Tempura shrimp seemed like they had been cooked earlier and held hot...MUSHY. Service was non existant. I don't care if you're from another country, if you're a server, better learn to serve! Good sushi for people who don't know good sushi. And for god's sake, clean those windows from time to time. I don't want to see all the greasy rugrat prints.

I don't mean to knock the first reviewer, but the review read too much like an advertisement. I found Ooka to be alright, maybe acceptable, for it's location--in the middle of Doylestown, PA. You can't expect the best, right? That's what they have at Ooka, less than great sushi. I don't mean that in a harsh way; it simply wasn't great. Well I appreciated the variety and selection of dishes, and particularly rolls, at Ooka, I was disappointed at the quality of fish. Granted, I went on a Friday night, but it should have been fresher. That said, the rolls were very well-prepared and presented. The size was good as well. However, and this is important, the sushi side of the restaurant as I'll call it, the area to the left as you enter, not the sushi bar, was disappointing. I say that because on a busy Friday night, having been seated nearly 45 minutes after our 7pm reservation, my girlfriend and I were repeatedly hit with a fresh gust of cool winter air as people moved in and out of the restaurant. That's just not nice. On top of that, we were not treated as well as I would have expected. My opinion, if you can't seat people within 10 minutes of their reservation and provide good service to those paying customers, you're failing. So, while I will give Ooka at least one more go, if they don't remedy anything, they will retain my 3-star rating.

i was in new hope recently visiting a friend and she took me to this place. being from LA i feel like we have some of the best sushi in the country. maybe i'm just jaded but i really enjoyed my food at ooka. it was so fresh and the presentation was lovely. and the service was great. we did have to wait for quite a while to be sat even though we had reservations, but it was a friday night. i was also really impressed with the wine list. i just noticed on the back of the business card that they have a restaurant in riverside ca. maybe i'll try it out some day.

Don't be fooled by the location in a small strip shopping center across from a car wash. Once you enter Ooka, you will succumb to the calming and beautiful atmosphere. The staff is attentive and always is interested in accomodating you. This is a popular restaurant so there might be a wait if you do not have reservations. There is a varied selection from the menu to choose from (including sake)..all served fresh and delicious. Entrees comes with a soup or a salad, and the miso soup is very good. Try their signature rolls (avocodo, mango, lobster, out of control rolls ...), and if you are shy about raw fish..their teriyake dishes are terrific. The habachi section in the back room is great for family's with kids..and they put on a nice show while cooking in front of you. However, I peronally prefer the calming atmosphere of the Sushi Bar area..It is a happy problem deciding. Try the silky smooth and wonderful Japanese coconut or green tea ice cream if you have room for dessert. Their web site for more information: ookasushi.com Ooka..one of life's dining pleasures.

Simply the best sushi restaurant in the 15 mile radius. We consistently get high quality rolls that beat any other restaurant by flavor. The lines can get long, so make sure to make a reservation. We'll be back again and again.

Some of the best sushi I have ever had. I ordered the miso soup and agedashi-dofu as an appetizer (I shared the agedashi). The miso soup was very good, but a bit too salty and the agedashi was very good (although it can't compare to Shiroi Hana). For an entree I ordered gyoza and the crunchy roll, which consisted of shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, and tempura and roe sprinkled on the outside. I got some fresh grated wasabi to go with it and it was excellent. The gyoza was a bit greasy, but most is like that. All in all, 4.5/5

We drove an hour to get to this place based on some great reviews. We went strictly for Sushi, so perhaps the hibachi is amazing, and i have not experienced it. I started off with a seafood soup for $9 which was not bad but not worth the money. We had a small appetizer which was the Mango Summer Roll, it had a good amount of fish- but nothing great. The flavor wasnt a burst of fun in your mouth. Just average. We then moved on and ordered five rolls. Most of the sushi seemed very dry and suffered from a lack of creativity and sauce. One of the rolls had an after taste which reminded me of paint. (Yes, I am serious- paint). Most rolls had a good amount of fish inside which was fresh, (and you get a decent amount for the money you pay) but there was nothing special about the rolls. I was thoroughly disappointed since we drove an hour, only to discover another disappointing place for sushi. I will give them credit for good service, nice romantic and clean decor. However, I will not be returning for more sushi.
