Looks like Doylestown finally has a legit indian restaurant (I am not a fan of Cross Culture). I ordered chicken tikki masala with a side of raita and garlic naan. I have to say the tikki masala was way better than my expectations. There was tons of flavor and the spice (medium) was perfect! The raita is homemade and was awesome. The only thing that was just ok was the naan, but that aside I will definitely try this place again. I have been waiting for decent indian after the spice grill in chalfont closed, and it may finally have arrived!

This was our first time at Kawa Grill and we only had 3 dishes, but based on this I am very hopeful that the availability of quality Indian food has been significantly improved in Hunterdon-Bucks. The Tandoori chicken was moist and flavorful. The Smoky eggplant was a new one for me and was really tasty, slightly sweet and smoky. The Lamb Vindaloo had a great piquant taste with enough hotness to bring out the flavors, but not overpowering. I am looking forward to going back.

My bestie from home and I got the spicy chicken tikka masala with plain naan and rice: it was amazing!!! The chicken was well cooked; the curry was a bright red with just enough spice and flavor. The lunch price was great for a Saturday, and there was enough food to leave me full into the evening! We would definitely go again, the hostess/waitress was so nice, it's a great quiet place on Main Street in Doylestown.

This place has been inspected twice thus far this year, and both times the results have been of concern. Hopefully the next inspection shows real improvement, but in the meantime Kawa remains open. [The last two (February and May) inspection reports can be searched for at bucks.pa.gegov.com/bucks… In any event, after the inspection in February we tried this place, anyway, and have gone there a few times since. No question, it is the finest tasting sit-down Indian in Bucks, although New Hope's Jaffron is also quite good except for limited seating (it's more like a takeout) and so-so naan. Kawa's dinner offerings are wide-ranging and delicious, and all dishes can be tweaked for hotness. The default is downright bland, with the next-to-hottest being more like the default at most Indian establishments in this country. So unless you have a fussy tummy, ask for at least a notch above default. Every dish we've had thus far has been first-rate except the lamb (and goat) vindaloo, which is superior if spitfire hot at Jaffron. Service has been pretty good, and they are great about providing extra rice -- be sure to try their non-standard naans, which can be exceptional. If they get their sanitary issues straightened out, this will easily be a four-star -- or better -- establishment. Fingers crossed! They've added a website: kawagrill.com

I tried this place out twice . First time I got the lamb biryani. It was mushy and not an appealing texture. The flavor was there though. I decided to give it another try. It was there first or second day that it was open. I got the tandoori roti( wheat nan) and the chicken malai kabob. Sooooo good. I used to work in an Indian restaurant so I know what good Indian tastes like. The roti was very tender not tough like some places. The chicken was very tender and full of flavor. I got mine spicy which they made just right. Now I got take out both times but the server seemed to be very attentive so I suggest trying it out. The prices are very good I think as we'll. 8/2014 when this place first open they were good. I don't agree with my statement anymore. Every time I have ordered the same dish it's different and not good. Consistency is a all time. I hope they see this review and work on their business.

Solid Indian (and having spent a year living in India, I'm particular) and being BYOB didn't hurt. We had veggie samosas, lamb korma, chicken tikka and garlic naan and left happy. Service is pretty informal. The interior pics posted here don't look like the restaurant - odd. We will be back.

Have frequented this restaurant since opening. Very good Indian food at reasonable prices. BYOB adds additional value. Owners are committed people, caring a lot about delivering quality and value. I will continue to be a "regular".

This place is now called Saffron, FYI! It shares a space with a Thai restaurant, so we were a bit confused as to the location, but it's just down from the movie theatre. The food here is outstanding, and it's BYOB which for me is always a plus. I had the lamb tikka masala which was out of this world and perfectly spicy, along with delicious samosas and naan. The prices are also super reasonable. I would come back here in a heartbeat.

I was pleasantly surprised by my visit with 2 pals last Friday (one of 3 Indian meals this week, each of which included Vindaloo - my favorite Goan dish). We started with the Vegetarian Platter Mix (Appetizer) - featuring a vegetable samosa (meh), four (4) wonderfully delicious onion fritters (presumably Onion Bhaji, not Pakora - as shown on the menu), and an Alu Tikki (also meh). We followed that with a fine Paswari Naan, Lamb Vindaloo (ordered medium spicy, but received quite mild and kinda bland), tasty Palak Paneer (ordered mild, but had a nice little bite), and crazy-good Smoky Eggplant (a dish I've not previously had). I'll def return for more of that WONDERFUL Eggplant and the Onion Bhaji, plus some new dishes and perhaps the Palak Paneer. Our tab (more than enough food for 3) including tax & tip was $72 - good value.

Last night my wife and I went out to dinner after 5 o'clock mass. We arrived at 6:15 and got a parking spot right in front. When we arrived there were two couples dinning. After negotiating the menu I ordered the Tandoori Chicken and my wife ordered the Smokey Eggplant with medium spices.

I went to Saffron for lunch a few weeks ago. They were very nice and accommodating to my dietary choice(Vegan) and put together a special Vegetarian platter for me. It was delicious and done without a second thought on their part. I'll absolutely go back.

Dined here twice with the Mrs. Excellent food both times. Highly recommend. Both times we were there, the place was almost empty. Come on people! Do you want to be stuck with Cross Cultures as the only place for Indian food in Doylestown? That would not be a good thing.

Great Indian food at reasonable prices (for Doylestown). BYOB. The staff are wonderful. They will also make almost any dish VEGAN and low/no oil (heart strong). I was totally amazed to get a vegan tikka masala (not on the menu) and the chef came out to talk to me. He said he would go out of his way to make any dish heart healthy (no animal products, no oil/dairy) - and it was delicious. I hope more folks discover this and praise the chef for his efforts.

Wife and I tried Kawa Grill out for our Indian fix, we read the reviews ahead of time, but figured we could decide about the cleanliness when we showed up. We had a great meal, nice service. Menu seemed relatively broad for Indian, with selection of appetizers and breads - a little beyond standard Naan, We will definitely be back, and bring friends. We went on a Wednesday night - we were the only people there, deserves to be better patronized.

Wonderful Indian food! We have been to many Indian restaurants all over the US and this is a stand-out. Lucky to have it in Doylestown. Kawa chefs are very responsive to the degree of spice you prefer and their sauces are excellent. Wait staff could not be nicer.

Excellent Indian takeout dinner this eve! Garlic naan, palak paneer and chicken vindaloo were all excellent and more than enough for leftovers. Very nice owners too!

My fiance and I really love this place - especially that they will actually make it as spicy as we ask for! So many times we ask for extra spicy and it still comes out medium. It is delicious, but a little on the expensive side.

Best Indian in Dpylestown for the price. My husband is even a fan and he spent 6 months in India and is hard to please when it comes to Indian food.

The food is pretty darn good... Naan is the best you can hope for, but the atmosphere is absolutely terrible. Prices are a little better than Cross Culture... If they spruced it up a little I would give it 5 STARS. BYOB.

A very welcome addition to the Doylestown restaurant scene. We had the Chili Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo and Lamb Curry and loved them all. The Paswari Naan is also quite good.

I brought my granddaughter to eat here...she is home from college and loves Indian food. I didn't think it was a good idea but I must say there is nothing like homemade fresh...and everything was just that. I had cheese naan which I am now addicted to!!! The mango shake was awesome too. Great service as well.
