The absolute Holy Grail of diner food. Cross Keys is an incredible diner experience with an almost cult following of locals. A real treat for a weekend breakfast. Yesterday I had oatmeal pancakes with a side of bacon and my daughter had buttermilk pancakes. They were both delicious and scratch made. If you are near Doylestown don't pass up a quintessential American dining experience.

I come here now and then for breakfast. It is crowded. The layout of the tables has been like this for 50 years. If you like pancakes, it's the place to go. Their cornmeal pancakes are worth the trip. Prices are on the high side but I find this to be true in many breakfast places. They serve lunch as well but I cannot review lunch because I have not eaten lunch here for some time. I had good service. Coffee was refilled without begging for a second cup. They will run out of their specials so it is best to get there before 9am.

Best breakfast in town. Food is fast, service is great and taste great. We go almost every weekend. Great for kids.

I am of Irish origin, so it is my Celtic obligation to know a good potato. Cross Keys serves up a good plate of breakfast potatoes. They would make any Emerald Isle inhabitant proud. Perfectly cooked; soft but crunchy on the outside-just the way you want that first bite plate of piping hot potatoes to feel in your mouth. The coffee is always fresh and plentiful and the eggs never runny, unless you prefer them that way. I come for the potatoes. Everything else is gravy!

Great little gem, excellent breakfast. I had the cornmeal pancakes and my friend had the banana pancakes and they were delicious. Will definitely stop by again.

Overpriced, no room to move, bad service and the food is horrible. I was shocked at the difference between this place and the other diner in town(where they are actually friendly). We sat down to Cream chipped beef over a waffle. I asked for the waffle well done and it came out soggy. The scrambled eggs my son had were runny and the kids would not eat them(and my kids love eggs). Overall, not thrilled. We went twice to see if the first time was only "a bad day"... not so.. We do not recommend Cross Keys...

We've lived in the Doylestown area for almost 10 yrs and bucks county all our life and not sure how we did not find this place until last weekend. Wife and I got pumpkin pancakes, which were fantastic. All of their specials really looked good and don't think we could have went wrong. Kids got eggs and regular pancakes, which were also good. Expect to wait on the weekends, but well worth it. Great place for kids.

I left it up to my sister to set the alarm and wake us up for our 10:30 brunch reservation at some place in New Hope. Well old habits die hard and of course she shut it off and went right back on sleeping. Hello! I just traveled an hour and a half to come see you and now you're telling me we'll just have to go to the diner? OMG - the BEST diner. They make new specials all the time and it is so hard to decide what to get! You have to get there early though if you don't want them to be all out of something. My sister's first two choices were gone by the time we were seated. But I happily munched away at my fresh Belgian waffle topped with sautéed apples and honey cinnamon butter. Yes - that's a real dish and they served it here. Cancel your fancy plans and go here!

This morning my hunger pangs were defeated by a housemade macadamia nut Belgian waffle heaped with gorgeous local strawberries, very stiff orange-vanilla Creme Chantilly and toasted coconut. The waffle was light and airy with a perfectly crisp exterior. Sublime! A perfect summer breakfast. Sadly, notwithstanding the dish's immense eye-appeal (see photos), I could eat only a scant half of the serving. My all-time favorite brunching companion and personal Superhero, Mr. M, graciously agreed to handle the balance. Excellent bottomless coffee, as always. BTW, we had the primo location in the house: Counter seats with a view of the kitchen, where the magic happens. Again, endless gratitude to fellow Yelper and dear friend (AW) who was kind enough to share Cross Keys with us. You are the best!!!!

I hadn't been inside Cross Keys Diner in at least a decade, but walking in it seemed like time stood still. Everything looked and felt the same. This had always been a community center where locals stopped in for a meal along with their neighbors and business associates to enjoy the home cooking and the hominess of the décor. It still is. I sat on a spinner directly in front of the kitchen entrance and was immediately serviced by all the workers who were picking up orders or refilling their coffee mugs. The menu is diverse, but the real deal is in their breakfast specials. I opted for the Thunder Cakes, made with a mix of fruit and nuts and a substantial pancake mix that made even the short stack (2 pancakes) more than I could manage. The melted butter and house syrup absorbed into the coarse texture of the pancakes like water on parched land. The taste was healthy and filling. I added more syrup three times during the meal as it continued to disappear. Yes. It was way sweet enough. I couldn't finish the 2 cakes, and wondered how anyone could digest a full stack. It did sit a little heavy in my stomach for a few hours, but not enough to reach a discomfort level. I realized later in the day the true meaning of "Thunder." No need to elaborate. Cross Keys is still a meeting place that takes its cues from the 1980's, right down to the rock music of the era. The staff is warm and enthusiastic. Definitely worth another round.

I agree with the other review on here that attitude is everything. Asked if I could plug in my phone at the hostess stand/register and was told "sorry the outlets are all being used". When I pointed at an open outlet I was told "they don't let you do that". They? Turns out the woman who said that was one of the owners. I expressed my disappointment and was told that "vagrants and homeless people" come in and ask for handouts. Gee, I thought I was a patron. I will not be back here anytime soon

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS PLACE! Everything is made with love. The staff is super nice! It's the only place that makes pancakes that are edible in the area (as far as I'm concerned). Most diners make spongy gross pancakes... These are homemade and delightful! They do sometimes run out of their specials (I saw someone's bad review because of their specials running out) but that means they make their specials fresh! I'd rather have them run out of something that was awesome, then have them use anything less than super fresh ingredients! Did I mention I love this place?! It's the best breakfast around, Hands down!

  • John R.

Attitude is everything - We (3 of us) arrived at around 10:50, after 40 minutes and a group of two, we were three, went in before us we understood but asked how much longer, we were told we were next... at 11:40 a group of five that had only waited for about 15 minutes (we had waited 40) was seated we waited patiently to see if the host would explain... after 10 more minutes I took a turn at asking where we stood as no one came to tell us and asked why a party of five who arrived much later than us were seated before us. The response from the host lacked any convincing that she cared as she and told me that it wasn't her decision to have seated the 5. You can have the best little spot in town food wise - (and we had heard it was great) but if the experience you give people is uncaring and rude then many may choose not to patronize that establishment.

Stumbled on this place while I was going on an enjoyable Sunday afternoon drive through rural PA. I got the tuna melt and a coke, and it just hit the spot. The bread was toasted perfectly, and the cheese (which I believe was provolone) was nice and cheesy. Came with a side of potato chips (ruffles) and a couple of slices of pickle, which are always a great addition to any tuna melt.

This is, hands down, the best breakfast place ever! There are different breakfast specials each day and they're always amazing! Always!! I was really considering renting the apartment next door, so I can eat there every day of my life.

Months later, I now live only a couple minutes away from Cross Keys Diner. I have been back a number of times. I love it. The food is killer. The vibe is funky. The lines are out the door.

  • Michael P.

Been here a few times now. Food is never disappointing. Service is efficient and good. However no one on staff is particularly friendly. But they seem like a busy place, maybe they don't have time to show a little personality. I highly recommend this place though. I'll continue going back.

  • Dax K.

BEST Breakfast in North America. Really I am not exaggerating. Try one of the daily specials. Freshly made, so it takes a little longer to get out...but it is WELL worth it.

  • Maddy V.

Fabulous breakfast! The food is consistent and delicious and the specials are always exciting! The service is very friendly, which is quite impressive considering that they're almost always full of customers! The line is typically pretty long, but there are often seats available at the bar, which is great if you're going solo or just with another friend, and you don't have a ton of time on your hands. I've been away at school for three months and I can't wait to come home to Doylestown so I can grab another tasty plate of chocolate chip pancakes!

I lived in Lansdale for 15ish years and never knew this place existed. Then I had their cornmeal pancakes and lived happily ever after. I promise to come back next time I am visiting my parents.

  • Pete F.

Excellent stuff... scratch made breakfast (and lunch), I went with the cornmeal buttermilk pancake special and it was excellent. I noticed they also had a side of turkey sausage which I'm always up for because I can pretend I'm eating healthy. Upon ordering it I was told it was chorizo style... who does that? AWESOME! Service was superfast and friendly, and the whole place just had a really cool, eclectic feel to it, right down to the mismatched coffee cups and the small shelves of a variety of hot sauces for retail sale by the register. Had been meaning to come here for awhile, and we were out early so we gave it a go. This place gets BUSY, and I can totally see why. My only small complaint, having lived in New England when I was a kid, I really miss having real maple syrup... other than that, this place was top notch!

  • Elise L.

Our go to breakfast lunch place. Other restaurants in the area should take note of how to hustle and get food out of the kitchen. Any waitress will pour you coffee. Great specials. Good service. May have to wait for table

  • Casey J.

Cross keys diner was a great breakfast spot this morning! Our table was a little bit of trouble between ordering and waiting on other people but the staff was so responsive and understanding. Coffee was good, home fries were even better. I will definitely be returning.

  • Janice T.

Came here on a whim a while back... I had no complaints with the service and the food was just okay. I wouldn't deter people from coming here if they want diner food but I personally probably would try another place out.

  • Bryan F.

Love this local place! And they do have AC in the summer now!! Always original specials up on the chalkboard and the food is well-seasoned and cooked to your liking. They are only open for breakfast and lunch and I would come a few minutes early before the typical eating hours as the place is TINY and tends to fill up quickly. Also, on the weekends, you better come before 9, or you will wait for at least 20 min. So far, I have had their pancakes, french toast, salads and turkey reuben and all were solid. The wait staff is a little gruff, but I think they're going for the retro attitude thing here. Overall, it's a good experience and an excellent local place to dine.

  • Josea A.

Gourmet diner - certainly not the greasy spoon image the word diner conjures up. Always new creative specials, breakfast available for lunch, really good and huge portions. One downside; they're not open for dinner!

  • Grace M.

After reading all the Yelp reviews, finally tried this highly rated gem today. It's hard to live up to the hype when expectations are so high, but this place really did it. We would have had to wait for a table at 11:00 am on President's Day, but opted for the counter and sat down immediately. Instantly, the delicious-sounding options overwhelmed us and we switched from our intended breakfast to lunch because the special sandwiches sounded so good. Our super-friendly waitress helped us sort through the options and I chose the "Bill Paxton" meatloaf sandwich, heated with fried onions and ketchup. My husband selected the tuna melt. Both were to-die-for. I couldnt finish my meatloaf sandwich, which was filling, and brought half home. Husband was stingy about sharing a bite of his because he was loving it so much. Looking forward to going back often.

Anyone, any body...ANYONE!!!! Who lists this diner as anything but PERFECT (especially the poor brainless jag-offs who recommended the other diner in town) is a LIAR- what a great place!!!! I had to call my doctor the last time I ate there due to an erection lasting longer than 3 hours.

Cross Keys Diner is by far the absolute best place for breakfast in the Doylestown area. Every employee is friendly, they're quick, and the portions are never dissatisfying. I've been to every breakfast place in the area, no comparison to Cross Keys. I've never had lunch there but I'm assuming it's right in line with breakfast.

Used to come here a couple mornings a week for breakfast with a couple girlfriends of mine after we dropped the kids off to school. Most of the waitstaff were pleasant and gave us good service (aside from the hippy chic with the short blonde hair - she's very curt and always kept us waiting. In fact, came to the point where we dreaded having her as our server). However, the last time I came was between the breakfast and lunch shift - not a good idea. While all the wait staff was on the floor, no one came over to us for 10mins (not including the 10mins we waited at the door to be seated only to have the male host tell us to wait while he made choc milk, refilled waters and coffees - all while more than half the restaurant was empty. Had a couple behind us even go to the counter because the wait was so long). Had to ask someone if they would take our order and was answered in a rude, curt "someone will be with you soon." Of course, it was out dreaded blonde hippie server. Food is amazing and why I continued to come back. However, after my last experience I won't be (and have not been) back ever again AND I always tipped 30-35%. My guess is that they've become jaded being the best diner in the area but the owners have to realize the food is only half the experience - the other half is service. And since the service your staff offers has fallen by the wayside there's no way I'll be back - and I've been sure to tell EVERYONE I know not to come either!! 1 star for service although they deserve 5 stars for their cuisine - what a shame your staff brought your rating down to 1 star.

Favorite diner to take visiting out of town friends. The food and atmosphere is great. Only thing I'd change is give customers a little more time to look at the menu. I always feel very rushed.

My favorite place to eat breakfast, hands down. Coffee is served in these hodgepodge of differing cups, all large sizes. The place is always busy, this is how you know its good. The interior is basically an old house, this is not a large place and you will be kind of close to the folks sitting next to you. I find the service to be great. Sure, the waitresses are super busy, but I have never been neglected. I sit at the counter and do tables, never had a bad experience. If you are stuck up, or needy, you may have a problem. They simply don't have time for idle chit chat. The food is the real star here. Their specials are unique and always great. They use local and fresh ingredients when possible. As an example, when the local farms are harvesting peaches, you get pancakes with peaches inside them, waffles, etc. My favorite two items are the Cornmeal pancakes, and the Oatmeal Raisin w/walnut pancakes. They are simply the best. My kids love the omelette specials, as often they feature unique types of cheeses. I have been to this place probably 30 times, only for breakfast. One day I will have lunch here and amend my review. You can't go wrong with this place.

Good family breakfast place! Open for lunch too, but we have only come for the breakfasts. Daily specials worth a look, for regulars or newbies.

    (4)
  • Kristin B.

Great breakfast. Pancakes are amazing, breakfast meats good quality. All food we've ever sampled has been very, very enjoyable. Will warn that the staff does tend to rush patrons who arrive within the last 90m or so before closing. If this would bother you, I suggest you make an earlier visit.

  • Allison B.

I love going to Cross Keys. They wait staff is generally friendly and pleasant, and despite the droves of people that are often there waiting for a seat on a weekend morning, they keep things moving quickly and efficiently. Their regular menu items are good, but if you find something to your liking on their list of specials, I would certainly recommend going with one of them. The specials are always delicious and full of unique flavor combinations. The last time we visited Cross Keys my husband got the Lavender Blueberry Pancakes and I had a breakfast sandwich on a croissant that had frizzled onions, eggs, cheese, and portabello mushrooms and maybe a few other things that I can't remember, because it was so mind-blowingly flavorful and good. Overall, it's a cute place with great food -- the perfect place to go for breakfast or lunch if you're in the Doylestown area (or heading up from the city for the day).

Easily the best breakfast place I have ever eaten. I am a creature of habit, so I tend to pick one thing I really like on a menu and order it over and over again when I go to that particular establishment- Cross Keys has broken me of this habit, because every time I try something new I am more and more impressed. They have a full menu of breakfast and lunch basics and their specials are always unique and delicious. I haven't tastes a mediocre thing yet. Service is extremely fast without feeling rushed and the whole wait staff seems to share the entire restaurant, so you never have to worry about your waiter/waitress disappearing. Coffee is served in mix-matched mugs and the décor is old school, greasy spoon chic. It is homey and unassuming- I just love everything about the atmosphere. Only suggestion I can make is wake up early on Sunday mornings and do your best to beat the rush, because if you get there around 10am there will be a line out the door. Even with a wait though, the food is worth the wait and the staff is very efficient so you can still enjoy your morning. This place is a must try! You won't be disappointed.

Saw the reviews, had to try. Was not to busy when I went with my 4 year old daughter. She got a chocolate chip pancake and some bacon. I got a granny scramble. Can I say wow? Great fresh taste, and my daughter cleaned her plate. Will go again!!

Arrived there at 15 minutes before closing. Very gracious allowing us to order breakfast. Service was fastm. Waitress was friendly. Will be back again to sample mirew of their menu. Close to Moravian Tile Works and Fontina Castle. Need to come back to the area soon to visit Mercer Museum. Will be stopping here fir breakfast again.

Someone else said it first, but they're right. This is exactly what a diner should be. I can't even count how many times I have been here and not once have I been less than ecstatic about my visit. The everyday menu items are fantastic, but the specials would make any foodie jump for joy (present company included). The breakfast and lunch specials combine unique and local ingredients that make me want to eat here just to find out what they're serving. Do yourself a favor and go to cross keys diner.

After hearing, on a number of occasions from a number of folks, how wonderful Cross Keys was, I decided to give it a go! I will say from the moment I walked in, until the moment I left, I was utterly impressed! Cross Keys possesses the small-town breakfast and lunch place that so many other try for, and don't succeed. The second I walked in the door with my guest, we were greeted with a friendly smile and sat at a table immediately. Coffee and tea were brought to us upon request very quickly. The server have us ample amounts of time to mull over the menu and make our decisions. Now, to the most important part, the food. My meal was excellent and well developed. Cross Keys does an awesome job at taking a simple idea for breakfast, i.e. scrambled eggs, and they make it decadent and flavorful. My plate contained a few scrambled eggs mixed with a Swiss cheese, prosciutto, green onions (scallions), fresh onions, all topped on a hash brown with wheat toast. The flavors of the plate were bursting on my palate. The portion was just enough that I finished everything without feeling over-full; but, definitely not leaving hungry. As I sat at our table I observed the interactions of the servers and the guests and all reminded me of a big, family kitchen. The staff really exemplifies the idea of this establishment being a big family environment. I always like to leave pricing until last, as it's not a big factor for me; but, I know it is for others. Overall, this diner is very affordable. It's certainly not your typical $2 meal from a 24-hour diner; but, you might spend an extra $5-$10 and it is worth every penny! Overall, this is a great "hole in the wall" type diner that is very popular with the local Doylestown community and anybody lucky enough to discover from the outside. I will most definitely be returning in the near future to try some different lunch-time meals and enjoy the good company!

Great quick service and competent staff. I always order breakfast and my order is always prepared correctly and brought out quickly. Far and away the best spot for breakfast in Doylestown with no close second.

Perfect stop for breakfast, food was hot and staff was quick. Had the eggs benedict and it was delicious! This place could become a regular stopping ground.

Over a year after my first review and this place still consistently serves excellent food, still offers new flavors and dishes and all with smiles and great service. They should be commended for such consistency and in my humble opinion, remain THE top spot in Doylestown for breakfast and lunch!!! Keep it up!!

  • John S.

I could eat breakfast here everyday, although i would weigh 50lbs more. They make everything from scratch, and they have the BEST Breakfast Specials. Eggs Benedict is usually the only special that stays the same on the menu. its really good. Any omelet with veggies and cheese are really good. Coffee is served in mitch matched coffee cups which is very homey. They make a good scrapple! The service here is VERY fast, almost too fast, the waiters will literally ask you if your ready to order very minute. So know what your getting early. If they only had fresh squeezed juice! its ok tho. Friday, Saturday, or Sunday morning gets crowded so be prepared for a wait (not bad tho). especially if you have more that 4 people. Its a very Gourmet Diner.

I should preface this by saying yes, I acknowledge my sad small portfolio of reviews suggests I'm easy to please, but I'm quite the food snob. I just choose to only write reviews for places worth mentioning. Is there any value to taking time from my busy life to say a particular restaurant sucked? I think I have toe nails that need trimming before rating a poor outing. But that's just me. So CKD is my family's breakfast place of choice. If you need to find me Sunday morning between 8:30 and 9:30, just drive to CKD and I'm likely there. The service is a 10. Hands down. Love that we don't have to give a drink order because they know what we drink. Portions are huge. Prices are very fair. I think I've tried most of the menu and everything is so good! Should add this place is also a gem for lunch! Hint: Go before 8:30 because there's a mad rush and a long wait starting at 8:40. If you get there at 8:45 and don't need a table for four, try finding a seat at the counter where the entertainment value is well worth the price of admission. My only criticism is they closed for a couple of weeks in February so we endured the place not worth rating on York Rd. and it was TERRIBLE! CKD, I respect you all work so hard and deserve some time off, but we'd appreciate it if you only closed one Sunday in a row.

Anyone who lives in Doylestown knows Cross Keys. The BEST breakfast in town. I know that breakfast can be somewhat boring, but not at Cross Keys! I would recommend anything on their daily specials blackboard. Their ingredients are always fresh, and beautifully prepared. Great coffee, great service. Try the cornmeal buttermilk pancakes. You can't always get them, but if you see them on the specials blackboard, they are not to be missed. My husband and I are there at least once a week, and we like to sit at the counter.

Local institution that has changed hands several times over the years. My go to dish at this place for breakfast is the corn meal buttermilk pancakes, a dish you do not find many other places. Short stack and crispy bacon makes a good breakfast. Coffee is drinkable, though nothing to write home about.

Friendly service. Food was fine, not great, but I think I should've had breakfast food instead of a lunch sandwich. The breakfast meals looked pretty good as I looked around the dining room. Portions seem to be a bit average; I always like larger portions at a diner.

Holy Fkin Homefries - I have found, hands down, the breakfast place of my dreams. As the 2 of you that read my reviews know, I am a FAN of breakfast, but have never found any place (other than my kitchen) that makes my fork stand up and sing. Well, yesterday I went to Cross Keys Diner. Second time there. First time was good, but I ordered off the menu. Yesterday, there were so many specials that screamed 'fabulous' - and I couldn't decide between them all - so I picked 2. Eggs Estrada - scrambled eggs with andouille sausage, cheddar cheese, bacon, scallions, corn, tomatoes, with a side of homemade black beans and blue corn chips. Also - comes with homefries and toast. Seriously? This was the best breakfast food I've ever had. I wanted to finish it, but I couldn't. I took it home and ate it for dinner and it was still fantastic the second time around. I also had the sweet potato pecan pancakes. Nice. I wasn't overwhelmed w/ pecan - but these were subtly spicy and a nice compliment to the estrada. I was torn between those and the oatmeal blueberry pancakes - but I'll save those for (hopefully) later. I say hopefully because these items were the "Specials" of the day - which are located on the blackboard - so make sure you take a look at the board when you arrive or ask your waitress. Actually, if you don't see anything you like on the special board - ask you waitress anyway. I know the first time we went, I didn't see anything that got me really excited. Then I ordered and a waitress went up to the blackboard and wrote "Corn Cakes" - ARGHHH! I would have so ordered that! I have to say though, the first time there, I ordered eggs/bacon/cinnamon raisin french toast and it was ALL fantastic. The bacon (unlike other diners) wasn't so thin I could see through it. The eggs were buttery. And the homefries were tasty. The cinnamon raisin french toast, while it didn't appear thick and hearty, it was the perfect combination of sweet, spicy, and even though John doesn't like raisins, he loved this dish anyway! The diner itself is sunny and warm and welcoming. It feels more like a cafe and less like a diner. The staff is friendly but not intrusive. Um, yeah, and when the waitress, Charlotte, (er, server, sorry) tells you that on her day off, she always wants to eat breakfast at the place she works, you KNOW the food is good! Also - they shop for their produce every morning and when it's gone, it's gone. When they say the food is fresh (and local), it is. And you can taste this is the food! I have been searching forever for the best breakfast place EVER and it is here, the Cross Keys Diner, where I will rest my weary coffee cup.

BEST OMELETTES AND PANCAKES. I've eaten here twice, had two speciality pancakes (sweet potato pecan and lemon blueberry oatmeal) and two omelettes and they've all blown my mind, with freshness, quality, and creativity. I wish the drink menu was a little more robust but the breakfast foods are world class diner quality.

Went for breakfast on a Friday afternoon. Don't let the quaint appearance of this place fool you! Ordered the eggs Benedict and wow!!! Full of flavor! Homemade hollandaise sauce that was the best I've had in a long time. Additionally, the staff consistently offered drink refills for cigar, juice, etc. price was right and service was great! Can't wait to go back!

Top-notch diner food, and really good milkshakes! My favorite is the small, but yummy, vegetarian section on the menu. My personal fave- the vegetarian Rachel...like a Ruben, but better! Pair that with some sweet potato fries and I'm in veg diner heaven! Everytime I'm back home I've gotta eat here! Service is quick and friendly, and the place is cute.

You know what.. stuff happens and I try to give ppl the benefit of doubt. So we went there again and I had one of the better breakfast that I had in a long time. I ordered the southern style breakfast and the biscuits and gravy was off the hook! The gravy was sooo good and the thick biscuit was the right touch. I personally like more of a fluffy and buttery type of biscuit but I can see why they make it this way with the gravy. I'm a fan again Cross Key!.. and none of the fat this time if you get my meaning. :)

We went there recently while visiting in Doylestown and then went back two more times in a 3 day visit. Yes, that good. Breakfast and lunch, not for a conversation and dinner. Not as noisy as many breakfast spots. Fresh, creative, also good with basics such as caesar salad, eggs every way and definitely the fried potatoes. I liked that all the waiters took care of us, I didn't feel ignored.

It was really busy the day I went (had to wait 20 minutes to get seated) and the wait staff were running around like crazy people (we had several different people wait on us throughout our meal). By the time we got there (around 11 AM) most of the daily specials were sold out! The normal menu is fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. I will definitely give this place another try, because my food was good and I love all the unique mugs they serve coffee in--makes me feel like I'm at someone's house!

We were there for Sunday breakfast and it was really packed (no more than few minutes waiting though). But come before 9.! I've got white cheese omellette-perfect even though it was with cream cheese which is not my favorite. But the combination worked great! There is not much choice on the menu, esp. comparing to other diners, but what is served seems excellent!

holy cow! yes, holy! the 'john popper' omelette (cheese, hashbrowns, jalapenos, peppers - added bacon and sauerkraut (just do it) is friggalicious... the sour cream & banana flapjacks, the philly cheesesteak soup, all 5-star. the only drawback is that they don't do pies for dessert

We have been here many times and usually have a great breakfast. The staffing model is unusual, somewhat communal in nature. Everyone helps out and most of the time their system seems to work out very well, but on a few occasions you may wait longer as everyone thinks someone else got your order, etc. The menu offers old standbys and a number of creative specials. It is usually crowded and you need to get here early on the weekends if you want breakfast. Today we had eggs Benedict and their special hash, all was very good. It would help if the girl working the register at least smiled (some of the staff needs service training). But for the most part the staff and the food are great.

Best lunch in doylestown. My co workers and I go to the cross keys about 3 times a week bc they have the most innovative specials. They roast the beef and turkey in house and combine them with interesting ingredients everyday. They also make the best tuna and chicken salad I've ever had. It's a small business where everyone works hard to please the busy crowd and they do a great job. I take my family for breakfast on the weekends and always have a delicious omelet with local ingredients. Hands down best place in bucks county..if not pa

Very unique experience. Definitely the best breakfast in Doylestown. I had the chipped cream beef and it was a very tasty and generous portion. The place is very nice and the specials sound very appetizing. I will definitely come back for breakfast and I will give its lunch a try as well. My only negative remark is that it was very, very hot inside.

This place should be on the Food Networks Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I always see a line and I do enjoy breakfast there but it's a "greasy spoon". I have never had a clean coffee mug or table for the that matter. The food is really good and the prices are cheap for the area but if you can't ignore the a wobbly table or some less than spic and span environment than you might want to take a pass. It's a very local joint and the staff tolerates you. I like counter service and the omelets. Coffee is good as well.

Our favorite breakfast spot in the area, and we have always had a great meal here. The menu is pretty standard, but the specials on the board are always great and varied as well. It's the kind of place you would expect to see on DDD. Be prepared, however, to wait for a table as the place is always packed when we go regardless of the day.

Parking is a nightmare. There are no lines painted in the lot so people park wherever they want. When you get inside its a run-down interior. The place is always packed, but I can't understand why. The food is mediocre and the service is mediocre at best. I won't be back.

The best breakfast in the Doylestown area, period. Coffee is awesome & they always take a second to make my kids feel welcome. The special board for lunch always make what to order difficult decision.

A real homey spot, reminiscent of sitting in Grandma's kitchen! I have only been there for breakfast, but the food is really good, there is plenty to choose from, and service is efficient. Tends to get really crowded on weekend mornings, but it moves quickly so don't be too concerned if you see a crowd waiting on a table.

Favorite diner to take visiting out of town friends. The food and atmosphere is great. Only thing I'd change is give customers a little more time to look at the menu. I always feel very rushed.

I wish i could eat at this place every single day. ITS THAT GOOD. I was here once before and had a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes. From the first bite i knew this was my new favorite restaurant. They were perfect. Well prepared, warm, with the chocolate chips still melted. I finally had a chance today to get back there. I saw the highly recommended cornmeal buttermilk pancakes on the special board and paired them with a fort Collins omelette. The omelette contain sausage, cheddar cheese, peppers, and unions. IT WAS PERFECT. I loved every single bite. Even the coffee was heaven. The only thing that disappointed me a little was the service. I hadn't been seated for five seconds without someone asking if i was ready to order. I tried to take a look at the menu, but every five seconds someone was there asking for my order. I understand it gets very busy there and they probably want to keep people moving in and out, but I'm still a newbie to this place and wanted to take my time. This is my new favorite weekend breakfast spot and i hope to become a regular. With all if its great ratings on here it seems like everything on the menu is a cant miss.

Our go to breakfast lunch place. Other restaurants in the area should take note of how to hustle and get food out of the kitchen. Any waitress will pour you coffee. Great specials. Good service. May have to wait for table

Cross keys diner was a great breakfast spot this morning! Our table was a little bit of trouble between ordering and waiting on other people but the staff was so responsive and understanding. Coffee was good, home fries were even better. I will definitely be returning.

Gourmet diner - certainly not the greasy spoon image the word diner conjures up. Always new creative specials, breakfast available for lunch, really good and huge portions. One downside; they're not open for dinner!

Been here a few times now. Food is never disappointing. Service is efficient and good. However no one on staff is particularly friendly. But they seem like a busy place, maybe they don't have time to show a little personality. I highly recommend this place though. I'll continue going back.

Hot and delicious - we walked out full and very satisfied. Chef/owner interacts with his customers. We'll be back!

This is the best diner around. Hands down. Service, food, price.... It's all there. I usually get my food within 5 minutes. Love this place. Their daily specials are always great as well.

Family owned and operated. Service was quick and friendly. Not my favorite home fries. Homemade soup was tasty.

We ate here twice on a recent visit. Great food. I ordered off the special menu both times and had creative feasts. Someone in the kitchen is trained.

Have become a "regular." Specials are always delicious and creative. Very hard-working staff. Funky interior, but don't be fooled - the food is wonderful. Always a wait on the weekends, but worth it.
