This lovely husband and wife burger shop is great . Rita at the register and Wes on the grill. We found this gem on yelp in a quaint town with lots of great choices. If you like a good quality hand formed burger this is your spot. The cost was very reasonable for this quality. The above and beyond service and conversation with the owners will surely get us back. Great job guys , looking forward to seeing you down 5he road again

I think as I write this review I'm going to acknowledge that I want to go back for another try. Not to say that it was a bad experience because it wasn't by any means at all, I was just left underwhelmed. I may have done it to myself though...you see. It's very plain inside and as I sat there waiting for my burger, I wondered if it was on purpose, you know, to fit the name, "Basically". Coming off the heels of Fries Rebellion in Quakertown, it was almost the exact opposite in decor. The server/hostess/bus girl was very friendly and seemed to be quite busy. Despite it being well past lunch rush, she was running the place one-handed and quite impressively. I ordered the pizza burger and a small order of fries. Where I think I went wrong was my burger choice. It was topped with provolone, pepperoni, Italian seasoning and marinara. For me, I can never have enough red sauce so unfortunately there wasn't nearly enough. I'm also a pepperoni aficionado, so again, lacking in quantity. The provolone wasn't "sharp" so it was pretty bland in flavor. So basically I chose a very mild flavored burger and the meat to topping ratio wasn't enough for me. I'll take most of the blame since I was making an LBS food decision (LBS = Low Blood Sugar) and probably should have studied the menu just a tad bit longer. The meat was good, cooked a little beyond the medium I asked for, but still good flavored meat. The bun was soft and light. I just wish it (the whole burger) packed more punch. The fries were fries, nothing to write home about. I have to try it again though, especially after reading Gerald's review about the pepper burgers he had. So far so good, but not a homerun for me yet...

Basically Burgers is my and my husband's favorite burger place, and we've been going there once or twice a month for several years. (We live about a 45-minute drive away.) The burgers and fries here are so great that we almost never eat anywhere else when we visit the Doylestown area. We were there again today, which spurred me to write this review. I highly recommend the place. They use freshly ground (that day) grass-fed beef and fresh rolls. The fries are good basic french fries, which somehow a lot of places can't manage to make. The owner is also the main cook; he remembers us and says hello. The decor has a hint of retro/diner flavor but is pretty basic, as some other reviewers have mentioned. I don't mind--and actually I count it in their favor that the atmosphere isn't pretentious or obnoxious. Credit cards: yes. Gluten-free rolls available: yes. Vegetarian options: yes. Kids' menu: yes. Soft-drink brand: Coca Cola.

Inside Out Burger (double Juicy Lucy w/bacon). Very good burger. Similar to Shake Shack. 2 burgers, large Fries, 2 drinks =$18. Great deal. Met one of the owners, Rita. She and husband Wes are locals. We will be back.

This was a great place to stop in and get a burger and a shake. The burgers are GOOD. It's a burger joint. It's family friendly and there are free refills on drinks.

Lovely owners and delicious burgers! Fast service and nice and clean inside as well. We'll be back!

Stopped through here while on a Doylestown adventure. I ordered the Taco Burger. My other half ordered the Mac N Cheese Burger. We also had sweet potato fries that were probably the best I ever had. Burgers were decent. Not mind blowing, but good. I appreciated the gluten free options. Service was very quick and friendly. I'd probably go again after exploring other food options.

I'm really surprised by the high reviews here. My bison burger was really dry and unevenly formed. My mom order her beef burger medium and it came out very well done. The soda cups are like 10 oz. styrofoam cups, and while they allegedly offer free refills, it's annoying because you have to ask them at the counter. The service was not great and could definitely benefit from some experience. I watched a group of diners get the wrong order delivered to them not once, but three times. Not overly friendly either. Decor is minimalistic and lacks charm, though the chalkboard wall when you walk in is cool for kids.

The pros: -Burgers are good - fresh, not that awful pre-formed hockey puck burger you'll get at diners, etc. -Lots of choices - go with a pre-established recipe or create your own. -Reasonable prices - you'd pay about the same at Five Guys, but there are more choices here, I think. -Nice people working here. The not so-pros (aka cons) -The decor could be better. Spruce up the walls, maybe do a little something with the tables and chairs (has a very "college pizza place" vibe). -Soda - unsure of the refill position. Served in the usual coca-cola cups, but the machine is behind the counter. Free refills would be the norm at a burger joint, I think, but not sure here. Fries were good but could've been seasoned better. I'm a fry connoisseur though, so I usually think that. When someone opens up a french fry restaurant, I'm there! Overall a good burger joint!

I recently visited Basically Burgers while spending a few days in Doylestown with a large portion of my extended family. So about 20 of us showed up about an hour before closing time and were greeted warmly and welcomed right in! We ordered pretty much one of everything on the menu and everyone loved what they got! The burgers were cooked perfectly and tastes great. They offer some great suggestions to give you ideas if your not into the build your own burger deal. Being from LA and accustom to hitting all the unique options around the city, I would say that BB holds it's own. Food, service, and friendly staff make this place a definite favorite of mine that I would try again!

I have to say I'm really underwhelmed by my experience here. Although I had a decent lunch, it could have been so much better. Menu/Decor: The name says it all, this place is really basic. The decor reminded me of a Five Guys but without the newspaper posters and peanuts. The menu was very large and was hard to read when trying to make a quick decision. Didn't see the specials until after I already paid. Food: I ordered the french onion burger with a small fry. The burger came out and looked really good. Two hand-formed patties with lots of cheese and then the french onion dip and chips! But I was disappointed when I took my first bite. The burger was not seasoned at all and was really bland. Not to mention my medium didn't show any pink at all. I had so much hope for this burger but was left disappointed. The small fry was fairly large (more than I could eat) and were okay. Again, no seasoning at all. Service: The server was great! Unfortunately I didn't catch her name. All in all, I left a little disappointed. I was really hoping that I found my new summer lunch spot. Unfortunately, I'm probably not going back soon.

Got the trio of burgers, corn dogs & the 1/4lb special. Everything was really good and so reasonably priced. The customer service is top notch!

Great burgers and vegan options. All around good food and thoughtfully made, which is not easy to come by. The place itself is too sterile looking and could use some color and a nice warm paint job. It's not comfortable to sit in or look at. Love the food and the folks.

Ate here one time while on Jury Duty. Absolutely fantastic. Burger was cooked to perfection, ambiance isn't bad, for a place to have a burger. VERY convenient to the old courthouse, great food, when we were there it was actually quiet, so I can't speak to lunch rush traffic most days.

  • L.M. Z.

Loved our burgers from here. We ordered a Ruben burger, cheeseburger and fries. Everything was great. The buns were good, didn't become soggy at all. Fries were cooked perfectly. Golden & crispy. Staff was super nice. Place is a bit bare in the decor department but who cares when the food is good ? We kept meaning to try this place, glad we finally did.

I've lived in the area for the past 15 years, but I just discovered this place! The shakes, fries, and of course, burgers are exceptional. This place also offers a trustworthy gluten free menu! This place is a must-try!

I had no idea when I decided to check out Basically Burgers in Doylestown that I would be entering a dilemma that required me to chose between fidelity to Yelp's creed of honest no-holds-barred reviews, and my understanding of the Golden Rule of treating people as I wish them to treat me. My morality tale began as a walked the center of Doylestown Borough on an incredibly beautiful early August afternoon. Temperature 78; Carolina Blue sky; galleon clouds sailing their airy seas. Perfect day. My destination was Basically Burgers for a simple late lunch. Yelp led me there, and I had every intention of ordering their best offering loaded with fried onions, jalapenos, and pickled sweet peppers. No cheese today to keep some semblance of austerity. Arriving, I noted the tables and chairs were bare bone, and a black and white mural on the wall that I took to be Doylestown. I wondered if Crayolas would be available to color between the lines. Given the high level activity on the street, I was a bit surprised that this joint was quiet and three quarters empty. Hhhmmm.... The folks in front of me on line were four seniors who could not decide what they wanted. I took the opportunity to study the wall menu and figure out how to put together my slider sandwich. Too complicated. When my moment arrived, I was facing a kindly woman who took pity on my apparent ignorance and asked a few simple questions to lead me through the order process. I sat at a small deuce near the front windows admiring the ant colony that Doylestown had become. The old folks were double dating, and sat at a quad front and center in the main window, chatting about their Medicare. I felt an involuntary shiver run down my spine at the prospect of sitting there one day. The burger arrived, delivered by the husband owner chef. He slapped me on the shoulder as he walked back to the kitchen, with a, "..hope it's hot enough for ya;" referring to the chilis mounded on top of the double disks, and making a bed for them to sit on, as well. I took a photo to memorialize my favorable first impression. It is a shame when great expectations are dashed by poor execution. This was it. I asked for a medium burger, but received well done. Little juice left to mix with the pile of fixins, making the first bite experience (FBE) disappointingly dry and with no taste aside from the onion and peppers. I moaned silently. I took the ketchup table rocket and shot a long stream of thin red sauce all over the sandwich in an attempt to resuscitate it. Marginally successful, I ate the rest grimly. The wife, cashier, waitress came by a few times to ask how I liked my food. She was so innocent and earnest. I smiled weakly. When I finished, I wrote the tip you see elsewhere on the website. Now comes the dilemma. On my way out of the bathroom I walked past the kitchen, where the chef caught my eye and asked again about the heat of the jalapenos. I had no qualms with the peppers, so I honestly said they were fine, but I have a high tolerance for heat, and could have used more. He pointed at another burger in front of him in a red plastic basket. "5 Alarm Burger, if you like 'em to roast your mouth." He listed all the hot ingredients and took out a bottle of his secret hot sauce. He would not let me touch it, but his sly smile told me that he was very proud of the nitro inside. I told him I would have to try it next time (Ugh. Conscience pang). Then, he asked me if I was still hungry? Well, I wasn't really, but where was he going with this line of questions. "Yes. I could eat," as any good boy would say to his favorite BBQing uncle. Next thing - he offered me the 5 Alarmer gratis because it was a misorder. I was caught; hook, line and sinker. He was making a generous offer because he enjoyed our exchange. Of course, I took it with a big smile and sat down to devour another double. This one was actually pretty good. Much tastier with all the chili varieties piled on, and the secret sauce torching my tongue. Still, too well done for me, but mine was not to complain in the face of unexpected acts of brotherhood and random kindness. So, do I write the review I intended to draft after the first burger, or after the second? Do I allow this real story to influence what I say about this eating experience? Or, do I just lay it all out for you, and let you draw your own conclusions, and perhaps use it in your sermon next Sunday?

Always great burgers, though I recommend asking for the single patty unless you're starving. The owner is always nice and friendly. Great people watching spot out in front too.

Everything you want in a local burger joint: locally sourced high quality beef, creative menu, friendly-family owned, milk shakes, fries and even sweet potato fries. So glad we have this in our town.

Disappointed !!! I can see that an effort was being made but I just feel they came up short. The moment we walked in you can see the decor was none existent. It could use a good paint job and maybe some nice pictures or a mural on the walls, being that we went here during festival weekend ,there were plenty of local painters they could make a purchase from. The food was ok I had a burger and fries. for 7 dollars and change for a single patty I would have thought the burger would be huge but much to my surprise is was small with minimal seasoning, Fries were great. What also blew me away was the size small fountain drink, it was a 7 ounce styrofoam coffee cup for a $ 1.50. The poor waitress was running around asking people who had what, I felt bad they had no system in place to help her. So maybe they can try and improve and make this a nice place, good luck

As opposed to other reviewers, im not going to base my review on decor...of a burger joint.... The burgers here are great. There is a chalkboard painted wall that kids can draw on to keep them occupied until the food is ready, which doesnt take long at all. The burgers were delicious, and the serving of fries was more than enough for my girlfriend and I. The waitress/cashier was very courteous... I will definitely be coming back here again.

Cute little place in doylestown. Staff is very quick and friendly. The Coney Island Chili Dog is awesome and their burgers are great too! Small fry is perfectly enough for two people, definitely more than I expected! Will be returning when in Doylestown in the future.

We showed up at 6:00PM on a Saturday night and the place was nearly empty. We ordered, waited about half an hour and then were told we would have to wait another half an hour. I can't make me wait an hour for a burger and fries.

We love to support small business, but everytime we go to Basically Burgers we think, "this is bland, maybe it will be better next time?" Hasn't been yet. We just wish the burgers had better seasoning because the concepts are great and the location is prime and a nice atmosphere

Came here for lunch on a Monday with my fiance. The burgers were decent but nothing to rave about. I like all the options you have and the concept of the restaurant.. but we were underwhelmed when one of our burgers were overcooked and realizing that it was a bit on the pricier side. Willing to give the place another try if I ever want a quick burger fix while in the area.

I LOVE this place! Every time I come in, the woman at the front is so so sweet. Literally she is one of the nicest people I've ever met in customer service. The older gentleman in the back is also really cool and always cracks a funny joke about something. The burgers are cooked to a juicy perfection and the fries are also great. Even if you don't come for the the burgers (which are lovely), it's very refreshing to have someone so nice wait on you and genuinely want you to have a good experience. The milkshakes are also amazing and the ice-cream used to make them is from Tanner's! Basically Burgers is definitely my favorite burger joint in town.

The burgers are unique and delicious!! I love supporting a family run restaurant as opposed to the chains. The couple that owns it couldn't be nicer. They make you feel like family!

This is a great family business with delicious, reasonably priced food. Sure the decor could use some updating, but if you want a quality chicken cheesesteak, black bean burger and fresh french fries at a decent price in Doylestown, this is the place. The owners could not be nicer, which adds to the casual and friendly atmosphere. We often stop in here for a bite to eat before going to the County Theater.

The wife and I came here for a Sunday lunch out after running errands. We heard of the place through a friend and decided to check it out. It's a local burger establishment, and we like that. No real frills, which is nice--don't have to worry about televisions or music blaring. As a vegetarian, they have a decent number of available options. This is great! Both the wife and I ordered the jalapeño popper burger, mine being fake meat (Morningstar burger) and my wife's being real meat. We were a tad surprised that the jalapeño popper burger was cream cheese with jalapeño slices placed on top of the burger. We were expecting something deep-fried. I guess it's healthier, but it's a tad misstated. For the cost, the burgers could have also had lettuce, tomato, onion, et cetera. However, that said, the burgers were delicious. We shared a large fry, which was the perfect size. We will definitely eat here again.

Well, we wanted this place to be 5stars, but it's not. It's a good choice for a burger though! I loved what this place is about and the concept! We both got burgers and sodas and shared fries. It's definitely a confusing menu and pricy. Everything was good, not great. The service was weird and slow. I'm not sure if I will return or not. It's a bit far from home. If you're in the area give it a try!

I've been to this restaurant 4 times and every time I wonder why I go back, maybe it was because I'm a sucker for 2nd chances. I visited with my sister for a lunch recently and ordered a rueben while my sister ordered a double patty inside-out. Upon receiving my order, right away I saw it wasn't correct. It had two patties instead of one, now normally I would have been jumping for joy but after taking the first bite I knew this was probably the only burger in my life I wasn't going to finish, and I didn't. It had the taste and texture of a boiled bland meatloaf not even large amounts of ketchup could save. The bun was also so soggy that I used a fork and knife to eat what I could manage. Before you think I'm crazy for complaining about getting a second patty and still eating something I didn't enjoy, I scarfed down as much as I could with the RIDICULOUS prices of the burgers in mind. All 4 times I've been here somethings gone wrong with either terribly long waits for food, ordering being wrong, or them forgetting your order all together. Needless to say I've learned my lesson, better late than never right? 2 stars for the friend cashiers.

Stopped in here after hitting the Mercer Museum - glad we did. The owners couldn't have been nicer and the food was delicious. The small fries were huge, and the burgers were awesome.

Burgers are very small, unless you get more than one patty. They taste fine but nothing special about them and definitely over-priced. Ive absolutely had a much better burger than here. I felt like i was at a circus or in a fun house while waiting for the food because there was circus music playing. The place is dingy, definitely needs a lot of TLC. The cashier was both the cashier and the chef. The kitchen lights weren't even on when we walked in, we should've walked right back out and went to one of the many other restaurants in town, oh well.

Well, I have found my burger joint! Every type of burger you can think of or create, from the Basics (sliders, single, or double patties w/ choice of toppings) to Hawaiian, Italian, Reuben, Cordon Bleu, or even Mac & Cheese! And it's all made on local, hormone free fresh beef. But there's also so much more... Bruschetta Chicken Cheesesteaks, Tuna melts, taco salads, Nathan's hotdogs, chef salads, Grilled Chicken Melts, and even Grilled PB&J's! And the fries (sweet potato or regular) and home made Chilli were "just right". Delicious. Aside from the great food, the real treat here is the service! This is a family owned and run restaurant, and the whole staff is ultra friendly and accommodating. Our dirty plates disappeared almost as quickly as we emptied them, and our drinks were promptly refilled as needed. We ended up visiting with the owners and they were sooo sweet and charming! We had our three kids with us and it is most definitely a family friendly place... But it's also a great joint to just come and eat some great, fresh food anytime with anyone! We'll be back for sure!

The burgers are good but the cleanliness is suspect. It felt dirty and fly-ridden on my first and last visit. Too bad, because I think they had a good idea. Maybe it's because they were letting kids run the place.

Not fancy but great food and great prices. Had the French onion burger. Very tasty. Fresh juicy burger and it is impossible to have a fresher softer bun.

I would highly recommend NEVER TRYING THIS PLACE! I never right reviews and rarely complain about food but feel the need to warn all locals. I am very surprised this place is still in business-must be the jury duty crowd that keeps it going? Anyway, got takeout with family and the food not was not prepared as ordered, the burgers were overcooked and the size of a kid burger not to mention everyone agreed everything was tasteless. The fries had no salt and were advertised as fries with skin on them-looked like they came straight out of the bag. Extremely disappointed and this is not what I have to come to expect from a Doylestown eatery especially with all of the great restaurants we have gained in the last few years. Steer clear!

Solid burger. Had it for the first time today and was impressed. I recommend the inside-out burger

Basically Burgers used to be our go-to burger place when we lived in Bucks County. It's always fresh and delicious weather you select one of their "pre-built" burgers or make your own. I especially like the 'Black and Blue' (or something like that) but I think you have to add some mayo or other sauce to make it 'come to life'. All the sides are good too. I recommend the sweet potato fries. There plenty of Gluten Free options as well. The staff is always friendly and you can sometimes meet the owner when you're there. I like the open kitchen concept. It's "semi open" here and is kind of stuffed in the back but still it's good to be able to see the kitchen. Doylestown itself is a lovely town and is always worth a visit.

  • Rebekah B.

Love this place!! Doesn't look like much from the outside but don't be fooled... These burgers are amazing! I had the black and blue burger with fries and it was outstanding. Very fresh, not greasy or overloaded with extra filler. Not only great food but wonderful owners who made me feel like family. If you want a great burger, low price and service with a smile, this is the place.

    (5)
  • Food C.

Basically...an enormous disappointment. I'm a big foodie so the idea of a 'basic' burger sounded great. But what I got was a 30 minute wait in an empty restaurant for the most mediocre burger of my life while the wait staff and cooks socialized with their friends. You'd also think a place like this would do something interesting with the fries. Hand cut? No. Spiced? No. Interesting sauce? No. These were the greasiest, boring shoestring fries you can buy in the frozen isle at any grocery store. I never see anyone in this restaurant for good reason. Most people don't come back after their first experience. A good idea horribly executed.

Great non-chain burger shop. You can get your weird burgers or your normal burgers as well as a small variety of other things if you're not in the mood for a burger. In our two visits, we found the staff friendly an the food great. The interior is nothing special, but kids will like the blackboard wall near the front.

Closer to a 4 than a 3, but not a 4. Got a burger with bacon, tomato, grilled onions and mushrooms, and american cheese grilled on challah bread. It was good, not great. The fries were a 4...crispy outside and tasty...not greasy at all! I wouldn't make this a destination burger...but would go again if in the area and wanting a burger.

Ok onto the review. This was my first time here and I have to say I am so totally NOT disappointed. The burgers are immaculate and absolutely delish. Not only that but the quality of the beef is just tops. It's not Kobe beef but if you're looking for Kobe beef in doylestown you're probably pretty pretentious and should just forget about going anywhere and order it online having it specially delivered with dry ice to your McMansion. The beef is nonhormonal, grass fed and purchased locally so you are supporting local farmers and is SO MUCH BETTER then any beef found in the chain places. Not only is the beef phenominal, he infuses the beef with different cheeses and other items so when you bite into your burger, it's got everything all melty and delicious inside. You can also get toppers to put on it like lettuice, tomato and onion, but I think he charges for fried onions and mushrooms. The prices aren't too bad, if you're in the mood to get a 5-Guys burger PLEASE forget about them and come here, you'll get a much better burger for the same price. I'll say the fries are good here but that's maybe the ONLY thing that 5-guys might be better at...for now. So not only are the burgers awesome, the owner is also very nice and courteous and when you buy a burger, KEEP YOUR RECIPT and show it the next time for a discount. I was joking with the owner and told him that his burgers were so much more then the chains, and he responded with "What, 5-Fools? That's what they are!" The establishment is kept very neat and clean and if you're interested in watching them prepare your burger, you can even watch them since the kitchen is open in the back. All in all, burgers are TOPS, fries could use a little improvement on the flavor side but still they were cooked well and tasted fresh, and the owner is very nice and courteous. I will most definitely return to this place and try different burgers, and I give it 5 stars!

I rarely eat meat and when I do it's with the expectation that I'm in for something good and of high quality. BB did not disappoint. I wandered in for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon. I was surprised we were the only patrons in the restaurant and hope that's not the norm. I want this place to be around when I visit Doylestown. My friend had the hotdogs and was quite happy. I got my favorite -- Sliders. What I LOVED about this place is that I could pick a different kind of burger for each of the 3 sliders in my order. It gave me a chance to sample. All were good, but my fav was the blue cheese burger. All of those meaty little gems were soft and tender, even though I ordered mine medium well. The buns are soft little pillows of carbaliciousness. This will be a regular destination for me. So glad they moved to this new, centrally located spot. I didn't even know they existed in the old location. Also, gotta love a family business and folks who truly care about their customers and their product.

Excellent food! Tons of options to dress up your burger - I went with the 3 minis so I could try several flavors....the jalapeño popper one was amazing! All of them were good. Sweet potato fries delicious, regular fries just ok. Overall, great place....I can't wait to go back

I don't often write reviews when I've only been to a place once. However, I feel that I was able to taste a variety of items and was impressed. The burgers that I tasted were juicy and delicious. I ordered a black bean burger and it was really good. However, after tasting the real (beef) burgers, I was mad at myself for not ordering one. My mom got a cheeseburger with GF bun (apparently of all the actual burgers are gluten free, FYI), my sister had, essentially, a bacon cheeseburger, and I had a black bean taco burger. While waiting to order, they brought out something that smelled outstanding. I'm looking forward to trying out the different burgers and I really appreciated the huge variety.

The black and blue burger is awesome. Sweet potato fries are fresh and tasty, you need to salt them yourself. We ordered a grilled cheese sandwich for my toddler and the cook very nicely asked if she wanted it w/out crust! very cool. My baby was enthralled with the very awesome cashier. Overall we had a great experience here today (and once about 1 year ago.)

I loovvee this place the burgers are grass fed no hormone beef and you can taste the organic in the burgers. fries are yummy and standard but they come piping hot and you can get an array of dipping sauces to enhance the fries.! Get whatever here I'm sure it's good!! But bring $$$ because they don't accept cards! But you won't regret it! ;) check hours too closes a little early! also this place is byob good for groups and families. If you have kids they have a giant chalkboard for them to draw on.

Good solid burger place with lots of options to choose from (buffalo burgers, turkey burgers, salmon burgers, veggie burgers...) as well as every topping you can dream of (including pineapple!) I like the reuben burger. The highlight is really the deliciously fresh buns. Don't let your eyes trick you into thinking you need the double patty burger. If you're like me, you'll end up being plenty full with a single and some fries. On my never ending quest for the best cheeseburger, this place was definitely worth a visit, and I was not disappointed. Cash only, plan ahead or you'll be paying to use their ATM.

This place has some of the best burgers combinations I have ever tasted...take a long look at the menu and remember, crazy is better! The best thing on the menu is the Taste of Italy Burger. One of the cooks referred to it as their "specialty" and he wasn't bluffing. Imaging an Italian Hoagie and a burger had a sordid affair and this was the outcome. It has the blend of flavor, including the roasted red peppers. Don't miss the Brunch Burger, either. It's just what it says and your taste buds won't know if it's Breakfast or Lunch. The fried egg and hash brown feel like a fast-food breakfast, but the beef patty and cheese scream for lunch. Shakes are simple, fries always work.

The only thing good here was the prices. The hamburger meat tasted old, I ordered medium and got well done, the meat was not seasoned and the chili was very bland. If you want a good burger go to Five Guys. Other than the food the staff was very friendly.

Came across this place because we were in the area and I was looking for somewhere to eat gluten free. Owner convinced me to try his Taste of Italy burger...holy cow was that incredible!! Gluten free bun was very tasty too. Sampled both regular and sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries came highly recommended from girl behind counter and I was very glad we had them. Overall it was a fantastic lunch and I am looking forward to the next time I am visiting the area so I can make a return trip.

Being that I am new to the area, people are always suggesting places to go for good food. I was directed to go to Basically Burgers more than once being that it was a family owned business and had good burgers and milkshakes. I can't say that I went to BB before the move, but eventually did get there post move. I ordered a burger and fries, along with a malt shake. The person I was with ordered a quinoa burger. It took about 20 minutes to get everything. I don't want to knock this place, but the burger was nothing to write home about. The fries were undercooked and served on a cardboard plate.. it looked like there wasnt an ounce of pride used in making either the burger or the fries. I'm not expecting artwork when I receive my food, but c'mon. The shake was good. I will give BB another try because I've heard from more than one person that they serve a good burger. The problem is that there are a bunch of other places in Doylestown that serve a good burger for the same price...

Awesome place for Gluten Free Burgers! They're very nice here, and my wife and I had a great meal. I can highly recommend the Black Bean Burger Taco style. It was good. Lots of different choices here for everyone. From the meat eater to the vegan. We'll definitely be back.

If you want the best burger with the longest wait in the area, this is the place. Their menu has lots of specialty burgers, with the ingredients cooked into the patty. The best one I've had there is the Taste Of Italy burger, with salami, sharp provolone, and a bunch of other Italian meats cooked right into the burger. It is awesome. My only complaint is the long wait to get your order. Good food takes time and all, but it's definitely a little annoying after a while.

Very good burger and some gluten free available. Loved the kid size burgers for my son and my daughter had some ok Mac n Cheese. She liked the Mac n cheese but it kinda seemed like out of the box microwave style to me. The burger however was great! Cooked well (as ordered medium rare) and very tasty. I ordered the Brunch Burger with an over light egg, and a hash town on a signe 1/4 lb patty. My wife enjoyed her burger too. Service was nice and friendly. We were one of just a few people there at the time. We'll be back I'm sure. Decore was a little shabby but they have a giant chalk board wall for the kids so that got them bonus points with the kids! Certainly worth a visit!

The short: A simple, local, price friendly place with freshness and variety that we'd love to support because it's family owned. The long: YUM! I love any place that please my carnivore significant other and my vegetarian palate without a hefty pricetag. I love it even more when I have multiple options! My boyfriend got the osterich burger (yes! osterich) and said it was delicious and fresh. He topped it just the way he likes it while sharing an order of onion petals (yummm). ( I wish my tummy could tolerate milkshakes because they looked so incredibly tastey.) I had the asharah burger (vegan) but topped it with cheese and veggies. The burger was an odd texture but VERY filling and the fresh bun and toppings made it worthy of revisiting. I eat fish so I also can choose the salmon burger, black bean....options! yay!

This place is great! The owner is super nice and the burgers are delicious! Everyone at our table had something different and no one was disappointed. My husband, a self proclaimed burger aficionado, said it was one of the best he's ever had. He's still thinking about it 4 days later. Can't wait to go back!

I've been to this joint many times and never reviewed it. This place is hands down my favorite burger. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. Jersey Shore burger is amazing. This place is a must if you're in the area.

There's never anyone in there when I go, but I can't figure out why. The burgers are really good, and the service is fast. I got the burger with french onion dip and chips on it. Very tasty. They also have a great location. I should mention that I've never been there for dinner, only for lunch, so that could explain why they've been so fast.

Solid burger joint. Definitely a place to stop in if you're in the mood for a fresh, hand-made burger with just about anything you'd like on top. Definitely go for the slider "Trilogy" if you're trying to figure out what you're looking for, or want to try something that's outside of your typical fare. The place is small and can get crowded and pretty loud...but absolutely a great local atmosphere where if you go there twice, you feel like part of the crew.

I've always had this thing about focus. When I have my midlife crisis, it might be about starting a business that makes, say, stair risers, or nothing but chocolate ice cream. I'm not sure what it is that attracts me to that kind of thing - maybe I've been following too many people on Twitter or something. Anyway, this is one of the appeals of Basically Burgers, at 12 West State Street in Doylestown: Focus. You go here when you're in the mood for a burger, or two. You can build your own burger (of up to four patties), or choose from a variety of burger styles, from a basic burger, to a ranch to a Buffalo Bill. If you're not a big meat eater, they offer veggie burger, a vegan burger, a black bean burger, salmon burgers, ostrich burgers... you get the idea. Just because they stick to their burgers doesn't mean they don't have variety. Prices range from $1.75 for a mini-bite to $8.99 for a Taste of Italy two-patty burger, though you could go higher if you went nuts with the add-ons. And that might be tempting. Check out the menu here. I had a black and bleu burger, which has bleu cheese wrapped in grass-fed, Pennsylvania-raised beef before cooking (I was going to say "Twinkie-style," but that would be wrong), with sweet potato fries on the side. I ordered it rare, and it came rare. Nodding to Dr. Atkins, I had the burger naked - without a bun - but they happily served it on lettuce and tomato, though I can't help but grumble about the tomatoes being big-farmed, meaning vague in color and taste. That's always a shame around here, but on the other hand, it is early in the season. (All the beef here, by the way, is hormone- and antibiotic-free). I can tell already Basically Burgers is going to be the battlefield between me and Dr. Atkins this summer. First of all, their burgers are too good to eat naked. I'm going to have to get them on a bun. (Note I said "them" - no single patties for me.) Second, they make milk shakes, and you just know a place that takes burgers so seriously is going to put that kind of energy into milk shakes, too. So, I'm going back pretty soon, once the weather's just a tad warmer, so the good doctor and I can have it out. A wide variety of burgers for reasonable prices in Doylestown. It's a very small place right across the street from Starbucks. Atmosphere is small, but they do have take out. This new restaurant has something for everyone. Burgers, hotdogs, etc. They don't just have beef though, they also have turkey, chicken, and even buffalo. I was able to get a turkey burger with a gluten-free bun that was extremely tasty. For a quick bite to eat while walking around Doylestown, this place can't be beat.

This is as good as burgers get!! The menu is amazing and includes Beef, Salmon, Ostrich and Bison Burgers along with amazing fries, shakes and Nathan's hot dogs! Not to mention the fresh baked rolls they get delivered daily. To top it off, it is family owned and operated, so you get that personal touch that I really like when dining out. It's located at 12 W. State St. in downtown Doylestown (just across the street from Starbucks). I highly recommend it to anyone craving a fantastic burger.

An establishment that deserves to be a part of Doylestown! If you want a burger that is not messy, not greasy, inexpensive, thick, hormone-free, local grass-fed premium beef, then this is your spot. The owner takes pride in making his food consistent and delicious, which is why I always trust the place. You really just need to try it once, and you will be back. It is not cash only, as one person had stated. People need to start understanding the importance of these independent establishments that keep things local, fresh, and an overall healthier alternative, versus places such as McDonalds. Go there and get two greasy burgers made from god only knows what, or go to Basically Burgers and get a burger that is an inch thick, local beef, cooked to your liking, for pretty much the same price. And I have never waited more than ten minutes for my food. If you have a problem with ten minutes, then McDonalds really is your place to go. Or you can sit back, relax, and enjoy some of the best foods that Doylestown has to offer. Walk around town with pretty much any burger and its mess-free. Most burgers contain everything within the patty itself. And finally, the buns/rolls. Haven't had a stale roll yet, and I don't anticipate I ever will. This place knows its Burgers. Make sure you get the Taste of Italy (i think thats what its called). Don't change a thing about it. Check our restaurant.com for 10 dollars off, too. The owner just received a certificate for being a top-seller for their company. Everyone goes here. It's time you start, too. -Brett

One of the best burgers I have ever had. I was told to stop in by a few friends that live or work in the area and I kept putting it off. Just before moving out of state i decided to stop in and try it and I really wish that I had gotten out there sooner. I had the 6 alarm burger, whish was just completely awesome in every way i could possibly hope. I had to stop out there one more time before the move and went with a more basic burger, just to make sure i wasn't hyping up the place on the specialties. The bacon cheeseburger was just as good. I can't really say much about the rest of the menu because my history with Basically Burgers is limited to a few items, but next time i come back to town, they are at the top of my list to check out.

This is a rare find. Not many places have all grass fed , hormone free beef. I took my family here after spending time at the mercer museum nearby and after reading some good yelp reviews. I saw that there weren't many recent reviews so I want to add my two cents. Decor is simple, food served in baskets lines with wax paper. Fries served hot and comes with burgers. The kids had mini burgers. I tried the trio as did my wife. This is an order where you can sample any three of their specialty burgers in mini (2oz) size. All burgers were cooked to requested done-ness and we all enjoyed our lunch there immensely. Not too crowded on a Friday lunch. Owner is friendly and asked if we needed anything. What i look for in a burger place is taste, freshness, quality meat, and good service and therefore I recommend this place highly. A plus is that it's local. I'm glad to support our businesses who take pride in the area and make the town worth visiting.

BEST BURGER I HAVE EVER HAD. EVER. Seriously I dream about the Italian one. My friend took me here for the first time in the summer and I almost ordered a second burger just to have another. After three more visits I took my bf and he got the same thing and felt the same way. I am so happy it's just a 10 min walk away because I go there whenever I can. LOVE IT. Oh and the owner is wicked awesome...he was there the first two times I went and was incredibly nice and was the one who suggested I get the Italian burger. I do not like red peppers or onions AT ALL, but the way they make this it is all blended together and is a mini orgasm in my mouth.

Friendly staff but burgers are not that great. Beef burger was not fresh and seemed as if it had gone off. Bison burger definitely seemed like it had been frozen. It was tough and overcooked. Took about 20 minutes for them to make the burgers, so not fast food to go if in a rush. Sweet potato fries were sparse and soggy. Have to ask for condiments. Cash only. Functional but very sparse eat-in area.

At first I thought that their customer service and burgers were great. However, over the next few visits I quickly learned that I would never get a certain item off the menu. I have asked over 5 times for the Godfather burger and they never have it. They claim that it sells out. Anyway, I have grown to like the French Onion burger, but will give them 2 stars until I get the Godfather Burger.

This is a great place for high quality burgers regardless if you enjoy meat (beef, bison, or ostrich), fish (usually salmon), or vegetarian (great black bean burgers). Prices are reasonable and the staff is very friendly.

I think their food is great. Honestly, if you want a good unique burger, come here. However, their service can be achingly slow, so like alot of Doylestown restaurants, be prepared to set aside a good chuck of time to get your food and enjoy it. Also, remember that it's cash only.

These are fantastic burgers. Much better than Five Guys or any of the chains. The meat is fresh, not frozen, and you can get a burger rare or medium without worrying about getting bad meat. Their ingredients are top notch, and every option imaginable is available, some free, some extra charge. The prices are a little higher than the chains, but worth it. The other killer item here is that they have hand made milkshakes like you got 30 years ago at the soda fountain. Downside? It's not elaborate on the inside, and parking can be a pain since it's in downtown Doylestown, but it's worth the trip.

A terrific locally owned business that knows how to deliver quality service with a high quality product. Great variety to the menu. Personally, I love the black and blue burger, but there's always a few more that make my choice difficult.
