Nope. No gifts. Typical sub par chain food. We liked their fireplace and unlimited salad bowl. But if you want genuine, high-quality Italian: go to Johnny's in Spring Mt, PA. Use my name. No relation.

Okay Olive Garden - I'm upgrading my review for you. Despite the Great Breadstick Debacle from last time, I went back because I figured - most people/places deserve a second chance. I'm glad that I did. This time I ordered the unlimited pasta, breadsticks and salad and surprise, surprise! This time we got unlimited breadsticks! The service was excellent as always and the food was tasty (perhaps even tastier than last time.) I'm still a little cautious about going to this place because although I have had consistent experience in terms of food - those breadsticks could disappear on my next trip!

Waited 40 minutes for nothing! Rolled out and went to the Pub!

I had the slowest service here. It took 30 minutes just to get the breadsticks and another 30 minutes to get the dipping sauce. With two hungry liittle kids it was not a fun experience.

Located in a very nice shopping center. I had a pleasant dinner with family. The food is typical chain quality, but the staff was really nice. Our waitress is what made the experience great. She was very friendly with my 7 year old nephew and grandparents which made them enjoy their time.

More like a 2.5 for the overall experience. Went on a Saturday at 6:30, with a party of six, long wait so didn't sit until 7:25ish. Our waiter stopped at our table to say hello and then he took our drink order probably twenty minutes later along with our entire dinner order. We received a dressing-less salad and no plates and still no drinks fifteen minutes later. It took about a half hour after our drink order to actually receive ALL of our drinks and the salad situation was slow as well. By the time our entrees came out things had started to turn around. All the food ordered was good, most of us did not order pasta dishes as in the past I found Olive gardens pastas to be mehh. So I was pleased with my garlic rosemary chicken. The manager came over and asked us about our experience we described the lengthy drink wait and early on problems and the manager without our request had comped four of the six meals. We were VERY surprised and appreciated the managers above and beyond willingness to make a situation right. It was a crazy night and the waiter was a bit frazzled. No fault there. Overall Olive Garden is just another family friendly subpar chain that almost anyone could agree on in a group of picky eaters.

My parents love the place, but I find the food barely okay.

DISGUSTING! Coming from Philadelphia, my girlfriends and I would sometimes stop in here for the unlimited soup/salad lunch and we were never disappointed. However, the last time I came here with my boyfriend for dinner it was such a ripoff I don't think I'll go back. We ordered the usual soup and salad, as well as a chicken dish. The soup and salad was fine, even if the salad was skimpier than usual, however the bread sticks were obviously stale and smothered in oil. Then our main chicken dish came out and it tasted like absolute crap. The breading was soaked in oil and not crunchy at all. There was absolutely no flavor or spice or anything on it, and you could tell the chicken was completely fake. We left barely touching this chicken and have avoided it ever since.

We've been to this Olive Garden about a half a dozen times. What can one say about food that is one step over airline food? Its okay but I wouldn't want to make a steady diet of it. I think most of it is pre-prepared kept on a steam table and reheated. The salad is, however, very good; as are the breadsticks (if and when you get them). There is a very curious thing I noted about the staff every time I've been here. They appear to be going through the motions. They have a set script and don't stray from it. Most importantly they don't look happy, they smile but it looks forced. It is a palpable feeling. This is a food factory just like PF Changs next door (more on them later). Its not that its bad, only mediocre, nothing special. If you want great Italian go to Osteria.

To sum up my review - absolutely awful even in spite of incredibly low expectations. I was skeptical based on the reviews and I should have trusted other yelpers because our meal tonight rates in my top 5 most disappointing dining experiences. We typically don't frequent chains, especially for Italian but the kids were with us & we thought it likely mediocre but okay for a Monday night. Not so. It started with the strange seating arrangement they have where they take tables for 4 and shove a 5th seat on the end against another table of 4, any movement but the person (in this case an 11 year old) moves the table behind them. Next came the soup and salad people rave over and it was good, no complaints but then we received our entrees.... the short ribs (priced at $15.95) consisted on 4 bite sized pieces of meat, which apparently are pre-cooked because oops - they forgot to heat them... the risotto was missing from the plate yet there was a huge pile of green beans on top of the sauce topped with uncooked shredded carrot (the same shredded carrot from the salad. The second meat dish we had (steak medallions of some sort) were obviously microwaved. The other 2 entrees & app as an entree were not as bad but barely passable.

Went here for date night. Waited less than 30 minutes for a table on a busy night. Ordered the Chicken Carbanara and it was outstanding. My husband had something with seafood and he enjoyed his as well. We will definitely be back.

I was skeptical after reading others reviews.....but I had instant creaming for italian so I decided to give it a shot...during dinner we joked about it being "the grease garden", but it was just so cheesy!!! So I did however find that the apps were great, so was the soup and salad...we didn't stay for desert.....but the best part was that they carried my favorite beer, sam adams seasonal.....i was content, and we wrapped up dinner for later..

Let me start off by saying, I hate Olive Gardens in general. They are my "plan Z" for dining options. I am bothered by their ridiculously stupid commecials where everybody in the commercial is yucking it up like they just won the friggin' lottery, while they are munching on their chewy breadsticks. Anyhow, the wife has these gift cards to Olive Garden, which I promprtly tell her to either throw in the trash can or donate to some homeless organization. Anyhow, she drags me off to shopping for the afternoon at the outlets in Limerick and after that has this brilliant idea that we can use her gift cards to grab something to eat at the Olive Garden in Collegeville. Uh oh..here we go. So, she takes me dragging & screaming to this sorry ass pretend Italian eatery......where, they do not disappoint.....at 3pm in the afternoon...they tell us they have a 20 minute wait!!! WTF? 3 in the afternoon and they are trying tell me they have a wait? Like, where did all the folks that are eating park....3 miles away?? The parking lot looks like a wide open Sahara desert. OK, so now I am on board for the humor of it all. What I am giving up on decent food & dining experience, I am making up in comedy. So there we sit in the cramped waiting area with other suckers too stupid to go to a McDonalds drive thru and we wait...and we wait...and we wait. Finally we get "party of 2"..no name..just simply "party of 2", which leads to guessing and deciding amongst us waiting suckers, which "party of 2" they are talking about. Off we chug, passed endless amounts of empty tables, to the back of the joint. Where a waaaaaay too chippy kid introduces himself and asks what we would like to drink. I order a simple iced tea and "chippy" responds by asking me if I would like one of their specialty drinks- and lists them all. No, Chippy, just the iced tea I ordered. So, I pick out one of their 600 chicken dishes covered in some assorted sauce and Chippy wants to know if I want soup or salad....gimme' the soup , Chippy. He informs me it is never ending. That is too bad. The soup is served in a bowl that is either far too big, or not enough soup....I guess it is never ending if you have a few days to continue reordering the soup at 2oz. per serving. The chicken is borderline at best and I chose to pass on the dessert to expedite my exit. I liked Chippy....liked him so much that I told him to keep the remaining balance of the $50 gift card on about a $35 bill. I have no intent of coming back. Look, Olive Gardens are what they are. Italian dining for folks who have no idea what Italian dining is. I don't wait 45 minutes to eat at the best restaurants in the country, so I sure as heck won't be waiting 45 minutes to eat at any Olive Garden to have the "never ending" soup gimmick and rubber chicken in sauce du jour.

When you here you're family.. I know I know. Please for the love of God dim the lights in this place. I walked in and I felt like I was at a Chinese buffet, strong lights and all of the tables smashed together. I asked the server if he could dim the lights at our table, he grabbed the manager and of course the answer was no. He was nice about it, but come on, at least offer us a new table, nope. Food was as expected for a chain. Fried calamari was a relatively small portion, salad was actually very good, and bread sticks, well you know the deal there. I ordered the steak gorgonzola for my meal that to my surprise was actually very good. Steak was tender with a very light teriyaki glaze. This is an Olive Garden I would actually visit again if they could do something about the lights and the horrible seating arrangement.

Used to love going here to eat. Last time I was here however, the food had taken a significant decline in overall quality. The server had multiple errors which caused our experience to be even less enjoyable. When removing our used wine glasses he put them directly back on the rack with the clean wine glasses! The restaurant as a whole was way too noisy. The setup in Montgomeryville is much better.

Good experience overall. Not usually a big OG guy but for whatever reason I've had very good experiences there. From the bangin food to the nice polite crew, I left a satisfied customer.

The food at this location was mediocre and cold. The waitress was just horrible. She rushed us and wasn't very friendly. And as you're walking out no one says thank you or have a good day. No hospitality at this location, just a bunch of apathetic people.

Food was very basic. Breadsticks were good, Our waitress was friendly but very forgetful. Long wait for a table. Wont be back for awhile.

Great restaurant in Collegeville. This location likes to turn the amount of guest through their dinning room in a swift fashion. Booths need to be redone... Feels like your sitting with knees near your ears. This location is not interested in your concerns after you dine there. Complained about A/C being too cold and bad service and site manager was not very responsive on phone. Location is too small for area. Management does not check on guests while dining. There are a handful of very good servers at this location.

  • M. D.

A much better-than-average Olive Garden. Very good service, fast and the food isn't bad either. Overall, it's a great restaurant and you can tell that management cares about things here. Nothing really special on the menu, but hey, it's an Olive Garden...what more do you expect?! Consistently good.

  • Jacki D.

It's Olive Garden, so I do not expect authentic. Some great dishes, some just okay. Well run location. Would love if they would use fresh garlic instead of powder, but it's a chain, so expected. Good soup and salad. Huge portions. They let you order a lunch portion in the evening. Usually friendly service. Love to wine taste. Overall, good for a chain.

The value is fair to good. We love getting their unlimited salad and breadsticks with the meals. That makes it a decent value. The food is usually very very good. Enjoyable. One complaint is they change out their menu too often. It seems everytime I find a dish I love, they change the menu and I have to find something new. That's a disappointment when you come in for a craving, but there is always the stand by spaghetti with meat sauce. The service is usually good. We have noticed a few servers seem to be in a rush, meaning they leave your table before you finish talking which is an odd feeling, like you aren't as important as their next task. This happens more than it should. We come here at least monthly.

Had the stuffed chicken Marsala on 12-01-14. It was really bad. The chicken had obviously been microwaved. It was extremely tough to eat. I was out of state and thought you can't go wrong with OG. I should have known something was wrong with only 6 customers in the restaurant.

  • Angie M.

Great service.... I was visiting from out of state, came here with my friend and her two small boys... the waitress was very nice and patient and friendly... Great food, I ordered the soup, salad and breadsticks, plus a sampler platter with stuffed mushrooms, fried zucchini and the ravioli. Everything was delicious and any time we were close to being out of soup or salad or drinks, the waitress was right there.

My wife, Nancy & I, are 80 years old and very disabled and we went to your Restaurant in Collegeville today, were pampered as to the seats, and had a most wonderful waitress who was teaching a new waiter; the Soup and Salad and Bread (with Olive Oil, Red Pepper Flakes & Basil served only at our request) very delicious. Your restaurant is tops on our list as we don't get to go out very often. We can't wait to return for one of the main Italian Dishes. We have been there a number of times before and could not help noticing that the Bread Sticks were not 'Crispy' & a little garlicky as they were in the past. We liked them better before for whatever you find worth in our desires. Why is the Coffee Prices so HIGH $2.49? Thanks for making our day a delight. This place sucked. I've eaten here before and it hasn't been this bad but I won't ever go to this location again. The waiter screwed up our meal and tried giving us something we didn't order. Then my mom had to watch us eat our food while she waited. Her food then came out and it was all messed up. Our waiter never cleared off our table. The waiter didn't check on us to make sure everything was okay otherwise we would have told him. Our water needed to be refilled and needed to flag him down for that. Then finally we had to wait to get our bill and finally pay. We complained to the manager who decided to give us a $25 gift card. That was nice and reassured us that he would fix the problem. Then we used 2 gift cards to pay the bill and gave the check and cards to the manager... Who never returned the remainder of the gift card to us. WTH? So we just left... Pathetic.

Came here with my wife for dinner and we were surprised by the improvements. Great menu and great food. I had the classic your of Italy and it was delicious. My wife had the portabella ravioli and she really enjoyed it as well. Our server was very detailed and didn't miss a step. She kept our glasses full and checked up on us frequently. I had not been to an Olive Garden in over 5 years but I plan to come back more often.

10 of us tonight for my father in laws 80th birthday. Let's say the waitress was on the money. But the rest was down hill from the worst margarita I've ever had to the cold pasta not just with my meal but with everyone's meal. It was horrible. The salad and soups were good again not hot. Apps were over cooked. It will be a long time before I go back again. I had my fill of Olive Garden.

Olive Garden is and always has been a great place to take the family, sit down and have quality food at an affordable price. And the Collegeville location is no different than any other well-run Olive Garden. This location has a good waitstaff, the food is always consistent and the price is right. The one negative to this location is the limited size of its bar area. I'm not a big drinker, but in the past when OG has been swamped, the bar was an alternative to waiting for a table. At this location it fills up quickly and isn't really much of an alternative. That being said, we always love going to Olive Garden -- and you simply cannot beat their unlimited soup and salad combo at any time.

Terrible experience. I went here with my teenage children at about 4:30. My main complaints. They give a complementary taste of wine. But the wine was terrible and way to warm. It was a Mondavi Cab. I ordered their best Cab by the glass hoping the opened a new bottle. Which they did. The wine was just ok but way to warm again. We order salad and bread for our apps. Salad was their typical salad. Just ok to much dressing and not well mixed. But they gave us hot salad plates like they were under a heat lamp. And the bread wasn't cooked all the way and way to salty. Our entrees were horrible. Cheese ravioli with marinara and cheese. I could make so much better at home. They were dry ravioli with sauce on top and lightly melted mozzarella. My entree Tortellini with mushrooms and beef cubes in a cream based sauce. Mushrooms were rubber beef was way over cooked and the pasta only tasted like cheese. And we had roasted garlic chicken and mashed potatoes. Chicken was thin cut and dry. Mashed potatoes were ok. The roasted garlic tasted fried garlic and they were cold. There are a lot of restaurants in this complex go to any other place. You'll be happier.

Was very impressed with this location very nice and the staff was very pleasant. Ordered for are appetizer the Lasagna Fritta which was good kinda reminded me of Bertuccis fried Mozzarella appetizer. For are courses I ordered the Shrimp Mezzaluna which was tasty a bit better then I expected and my gal friend ordered up a traditional Five Cheese ziti which was equally just as good. All around this location was very clean, service was good, food was good I couldn't complain I would return if I'm in the area.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
