Don't let the exterior fool you. The restaurant is part of Quality Inn. Very good food, chips and salsa excellent.

Nice spot to eat a late dinner when staying in the hotel. Portions were great for the prices and the drinks were pretty good too. Not my favorite place, but decent for the time and area.

We eat here quite often. I would give it 5 stars if the cleanliness was a little better. The food is always excellent and the beer is cold. I have probably had everything on the menu and it's never a disappointment. There is only one item I didn't really care for but it was still good was the fish tacos. I think it's because of the type of fish it was. Other than that, as long as they are open I'll keep patronizing the place because it's awesome! The homemade guacamole just keeps me coming back for more!

I am not from the area but travel here for work. The food is great. Shrimp chimicunga is amazing. Its is a Quality inn hotel, but dont let that throw you off. And decent happy hour prices. I went twice in one week while working in the area.

We stayed at the Quality Inn on our way to NYC. This restaurant was on the property, and after checking out the other nearby options, this seemed like the best choice. My boys had steak burritos, my daughter a steak chimi, my husband had the shrimp diablo, and I had a combination plate. Rice and beans were from a can, not homemade but tasty. The chimi wasn't fried which was strange. The steak burritos covered in a cheese sauce were good as was the shrimp. I didn't like the taco or bean chalupa on my plate. They tasted stale. The tamale had way too much masa with no flavor and the enchilada was just okay. Probably the best thing on the plate was the chile relleno which was swimming in a delicious sauce. Service was very slow. The funniest thing was we were seated at a table with a chair different from all the others. An older couple, obviously regulars, came in and stalked us until we left because the older gentleman wanted his chair.

Full Disclosure: I did not end up eating in the restaurant. What Happened: We walked in the front door of a obviously older hotel. The restaurant was just beyond the hotel reception desk. The brightly lit restaurant shone like a beacon through the dim, grungy "lobby". The worst part was the hotel's smell. The unpleasant moldy/musty smell was almost overwhelming. If that wasn't bad enough, the overtone of stale cigarette smoke was just enough to squelch any thought I had of eating there. Perhaps I just needed to hold my nose and sprint to the restaurant, but I simply could not stomach the experience.

Probably the best place to eat in Clarion. I got veggie fajitas and it was absolutely delicious. Everyone else at my table seemed to enjoy their food as well. The decor is slightly overdone-Mexican themed, but it fits the mood. The salsa is delicious, and the chips were tasty. While this may not be completely "authentic", you have to think about where you are. Clarion, PA... not the Alamo.

A Local Treasure, I've been deciding whether or not to take the plunge and try this place for the last 5 years. I can't believe the time I've wasted. This place is about as good as it gets for this local and is among the best Mexican Food I've ever had. Food was great, drinks were cold and the service was fantastic. Worth the forey into the hotel to find this place, We'll be back again and again.

As other reviewers have said, the "Mexican" food served here is not at all authentic. The spices and ingredients used are generally about 80% accurate- for example, broccoli typically isn't served as part of beef fajitas. It's better than Taco Bell.

We stopped at the hotel that the restaurant is located in one dark and stormy night. Lured by the promise of a cheap drink just downstairs, we ventured inside. It was either that, or venture outside in the cold and rain to cross the parking lot for either Appleby's or Taco Bell. I'm glad we ate at Cozumel Clarion. The interior is decorated in bright, upbeat colors and such. Our wait staff was fast, friendly and attentive. So far so good. We ordered meals, and got salsa and chips gratis. We ordered Enchiladas and Mexican Rice. We could have ordered a la carte, but went with a combo platter type of deal. The Enchiladas were very good. True, they could have been better, but these really hit the spot. The filling was good, but there could have been more of it. The beans we ate were not soupy. The Mexican rice was the disappointment of the meal. It was watery and light pink, as if they had added a spoonful of cheap salsa to instant rice, truly a complete disaster. This was the only disappointment, really. The platters we ordered had 4 Enchiladas each, plus the beans. It was reasonably priced. Well fed, we ordered another round of drinks in the happy restaurant, dreamed of sunnier days and then went up to our room. So what if it wasn't the most authentic Mexican meal or the very best enchiladas. Dinner there was fun. No cold, nasty weather to endure, no bland corporate "dining experience" to put up with. No thanks. Glad we ate here. I wouldn't drive miles to eat here, but if you are in the area it sure beats a chain place. Other diners had equally large platters of food and appeared to be enjoying themselves. Pricing is reasonable on all. There are some meat-free offerings. Given the size of the portions, a vegetarian won't go hungry here. There were only a very few dessert offerings, but so what. We were far too full to even think about dessert.

Atmosphere is great.,,Tamales were good (not great)... Enchiladas Jalisco was so-so... My wife had El Pollo Ranchero was excellent.. Service was good... I'd recommend eating here, but only if you are in the area....it's not a "destination" spot...

I've been to plenty of Mexican restaurants, between Texas and New York, etc. This place has pretty cool decor, awesome salsa, but the enchiladas we ordered were terrible. Refried beans were like soup, and my dad thought he was going to be sick all night. If you want dirt cheap and don't care about quality, then go for it.

If you want authentic Mexican food within an hour of Clarion, this is your best bet. Yup, it's not always great, but they're always friendly and there's a cold beverage waiting.

Atmosphere is great and the decorations are beautiful. The bottles of soda that surround the outside of the middle room taste wonderful and their margaritas are even better. I had the shrimp chimichanga with the white cheese sauce and was blown away at the hearty size and wonderful taste of the dish. On Cinco de Mayo, they even gave us sombreros and served our group quickly and without flaw (there were 13 total). Price is reasonable for the size and the service is great.

I cant stop raving about this restaurant. Once I discovered it, I couldn't go back to the same old American food. I never get tired of it. The staff is super friendly, you get free chips and salsa. The food is to die for! Can you mmm. The portions are big I always have left overs because its so filling. When you go to Cozumel make sure to try to fried ice cream, it is going to make you want to go back for more. The restaurant is very bright and happy just like the staff. They have a full bar and different flavor margaritas. I really recommend it, you wont regret it. Give it a try and you wont be able to stop talking about how good it is.

This is our favorite restaurants in the area. Great service and good food. I've had better Mexican, but not in rural Pennsylvania.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
