I hosted an evening training seminar for 40 customers in one of the private rooms. We did a buffet before the class. The food, atmosphere, and service were all excellent. I will definitely make this a regular stop. Really nice bar area for relaxing after the class. Classy all the way around.

Ate here with a group of co-workers while in town for training. We chose this place because it has outdoor seating and the hotel have us a discount. I ordered the broiled crab cakes with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The crab cakes were half the size of any other crab cake I've ever eaten and very dry because they were overcooked. The asparagus was either canned or boiled for twenty minutes. It was the consistency of mush. I've made potato buds that had more flavor and better texture than their whipped potatoes. Overall, at $26 for the dish, I'd sooner eat at Applebees and get three courses of mid-range quality for the same price. Thankfully, it was ladies night and the meal was half priced, hence the second star. Oh, and my co-worker found a hair in her sandwich. Yum!

This place is awesome. Please note if you do a Google search and look for "bars near me" that you may come across some bad reviews. IGNORE THEM. We went with group of 20 (colleagues) and met Mike who is the owner. We had an absolutely amazing time. Make sure you try the 11/30 shot. Ask the bartender or Mike for the story. The real review: Price - Very reasonable Bar- Full Customer Service- GREAT! Bartenders are friendly and ownership is great. If you are in the area with some colleagues stop in, you will not regret it. There is also a banquet center next store maybe you will be lucky enough to catch one of the events. We are going back tonight to see Saving Abel!

The food was very enjoyable, and sevice pleasant, although the timing meant a much more relaxed meal than we intended (read: it took a while...). Luckily we were not in a hurry. Great touches to an enjoyable meal.

The beautifully presented food was only mediocre for the price. Best thing we ate, the fried cheese. They forgot to cook my husbands prime rib when he ordered it medium rare... I mean it was RAW and cold. Good service. Two things that bugged me: the loud jazz music in the background was distracting and obnoxious; the hand towels in the bathroom that were dirty were rolled back up and presented as clean.... I saw this happen.

Came here with friends for the Thursday night special in Relax - $1.50 grilled cheese and $1.50 tomato bisque - omgosh so good! Seriously, a dinner for 3 bucks? It was hot and delicious. Friends all had a second cup of soup, I had a second sandwich. Apparently ladies eat free on Tuesdays (from a select menu) with the purchase of a drink. Definitely worth another visit!

We had a private party for my grandmother's birthday on a Saturday evening. We had the Crystal room, which is elegant but not too fancy. We had 9 in our party, and sat comfortably in this room. One server took care of us, a very nice young lady. Both professional and friendly, ensuring our orders were correct when they came out and keeping us with beverages as needed. The food took quite awhile from order to serve. I know nicer restaurants take awhile, it's part of the experience. I ordered the crab cake sandwich. Not bad, but not spectacular. The menu features many items with rich, creamy sauces which I cannot eat. Those entrees are also on the top of the price list, easily costing $25 and up for a single meal. Luckily, they offer sandwiches on the dinner menu for people like me. I ordered fries with my sandwich, but I wished I'd gotten the tossed salad. The fries were overcooked, dry on the inside, and greasy on the outside. I could have gotten better fries at a fast food place. I'm sure some people would snub their nose at even ordering fries at such a restaurant, but that's what I like. The tossed salads looked very lovely, and fresh. Small, but pretty. I thought the dinner was fine, but it's not somewhere I typically go. It's too expensive for me and how I live. My hubby had the one and only burger on the menu, and he did like it. Good size, cooked well, and he seemed to enjoy it. Many of us all got the crab cake sandwich, and two got the crab cake dinner meals. The ambiance inside is unlike any other restaurant in Chambersburg. Dark interior, dimly lit, rich colors and unique decor. Some things need some updating to keep with the elegance. If you have a lot of extra money to spend on a really nice date, it's fine. For us, it's not our type of place. Overpriced for sure.

We went to the Burning and Ransoming of Chambersburg and found ourselves at The Orchard for dinner July 18 (yeah...the review is old) We decided to grab a bite at the Civil War Tapas (Lounge)....we were very disappointed to learn Civil War grub wouldn't be served up, apparently there are special days for that. Lemme see....I got the mini (tapas) sized spanakopita and tiropita (yep...it confused me as well) I thought I was getting spanakoita and learned when I bit into one how damn HOT feta cheese can be. I asked the waitress if an order of just spinach can be had and she told me, Next time I will check in to that for you. Next time? What if there is NO next time? She then explained the mini pies were packaged to go together and they could be broken. My fella later comment he thought the balance of the universe rested on the fact these packs never get broken/sold separately. HA! Doubtful.....I am sure these pies are pre-made and packaged making it impossible to tell which are cheese and which are spinach. Right? Anyway.....if I was in Baltimore *Greektown* they would have made it right. I am SURE but we were in Chambersburg and well....what can you expect? I don't remember what my fella ate...I sure he doesn't either but we did have house chardonnay, they didn't have any tears of Gettysburg. The waitress gave us a cute sample of raspberry gelato which was VERY good. Just about done, promise.....Apparently, there was a AD/DC cover band playing and my boyfriend found this disturbing the normal quite atmosphere was invaded with the thumbing of the cover band. He though The Orchard was too classy for such Tom Foolery. heheheheheheh He's cute that way.

Do not get the tasting menu it is good but not 130 dollars good. You can order it individually off the menu for around 65 - 70. I was expecting a lot better service but the waitress could not explain what was in anything nor was her service appropriate for a 130 dollar meal. I was at least expecting the chef to make an appearance but he was also a no show. The food was good but not great was just typical food you could make at home. I think it would of been a great deal at 60 or so but feel ripped off at 130 =/. I wish we had ordered each separately off the menu would of not left feeling hungry and bewildered about what we ate. Also did not get any bread either was probably some of the worst service for as much as they charge for dinner. Was highly disappointed and will never eat there again.

Chicken Alfredo was tasty but rather dry. It came with large chicken pieces. The French dip was delicious and very large. Great salads. Good crunchy bread. It is $$$ as marked.

This review is only for the "Relax Lounge & Patio" portion of the Orchard. It's completely different from the other side and they deserve to be treated separately. I could really love this place! I visited three (3) times and tried very hard. I like the casual atmosphere. I've experienced two bartenders and one server and they have all been great. The food has been way above average. You are given multiple menus. One for casual food like burgers etc. and another with a few high-end choices from the fine dining side of the house. That's a great Idea. So can you feel the "but" coming? This place allows smoking! Yes you can sit out on the patio but the inside reeks. One bartender actually bragged to me about all the patrons that visit just so they can smoke and eat at the same time. I tried to get past it over three visits but I just couldn't do it. I spoke with several business associates and as soon as I mentioned Relax they all wrinkled their collective noses and said "no way" because of the smoking. When the owners come to their senses and become non-smoking I'll revisit with pleasure.

Boy was I out if my element in a place like this some of the other reviews were a tad misleading. This place is like crazy fancy, & should totally turn slobs like me away at the door. I think the confusion is there is a more casual dinning restaurant attached back called the Relax Lounge. I had a fantastic meal though Filet Mignon with Béarnaise sauce & Greek potatoes finished off with a Marble Cakes that had a cream cheese/coffee icing. All of which I would recommend & have again. My only aversion (yeah, I used a thesaurus what of it) would be the consent checking in by the wait staff, but maybe they just wanted to make sure I wasn't stealing the silverware. But always remember when fine dinning "Pinkies Out".

Though I've been to other sub-venues at the Orchards (the banquet facilities / function rooms, the back bar / lounge, and the front bar), this review is for the dining room, where I recently had lunch with my parents. [You're about to read a slightly picky review, if only because I sensed a bit of pretension about the place, but I end it with glowing praise, so skip to the bottom and read that first (and last) if you like.] The dining area seemed empty even for late lunch (1-2 pm), but then again it was immediately pre-holiday. Our server was appropriately attentive and friendly throughout -- as well as ever so slightly but nevertheless oddly polite/showy/apologetic. But this was more, I suspect, due somehow to the establishment's obvious (and mostly fulfilled, let it be said) aspirations of offering a classy dining experience than from any problem with her service (which there wasn't at all). When I asked about red wine by the glass, the server knew the half-dozen available off the top of her head (cab s, merlot, beaujolais, shiraz, malbec -- okay that's only five). I had their current merlot and it was quite nice. Bread fresh from the oven: it certainly arrived piping hot, though it also struck me as having been re-heated rather than just-baked. The butter was served in those tiny plastic containers with the rip-off foil top instead of in a little ceramic pot. The online menu seems to be out of date -- or very new -- since at least two of our three entrées don't appear there. I had the Black Diamond steak salad, with balsamic. Very tasty and I wish I had another one in front of me right now. It had a nice bunch of flavors: spinach, strawberry, almonds (?), blue cheese, fresh ground black pepper (to taste, which in my case is extreme) -- and lots of lovely medium-rare steakness, though maybe a little stringy? -- which made me notice: the steak knife wasn't perfectly sharp. I think having the breadcrumbs swept out of the way is a nice touch, at least here, since with the heavy tablecloths it's hard to wipe them away yourself, plus the bread (or I) did make lots of crumbs. Another thing about the tablecloths: the under-cloth (yes, two layers!) is like long, heavy drapes for the table, which ended up sticking to us like static cling any time one of stood up for any reason, nearly resulting in drinks and appetizers being dragged onto the floor. Dessert: crême brûlée à la eggnog and Southern Comfort, with whipped cream and a strawberry on top. The crust was crisp, the creme was creamy, and the whipped cream was fluffy and smooth -- somehow, though, it seemed bland. Maybe because I've had so much eggnog-themed stuff already this season, or maybe because I couldn't taste the SoCo in it, or maybe because the portion was large, even for sharing, such that I was still eating it after I'd had enough. It really was rich and delicious, though, and I want another (half of) one of these right now, to follow the steak salad I am also reliving. Other notes: Report from others' meals: All very good. One odd thing: the caesar salad and the carrot cake seem to have been refrigerated with the forks right on the plate. I understand, but -- a little tacky? Decor: Elegant, though also a bit heavy and hotel-esque. I would not be surprised to find thirty stories of Sheraton stacked on top of this establishment in a parallel universe. Sign at the concierge's desk: GENTLEMEN KINDLY REMOVE YOUR HATS. I like to imagine how many fedoras this must be referring to. Glowing praise: All in all, I am looking forward to coming here again when in Chambersburg, with small or large parties, knowing that we will eat and drink really well, that everything will be tastefully presented, and that all other aspects of the table service will be friendly, competent, and professional.

Eaten here about 3 times while I was in college. Had two decent dishes and one really good one. I did really enjoy their adult beverage options! One of the few places near Ship that could actually make a decent martini. I've also been here for a few small banquets and the restaurant was very accommodating with a surprising low price for a lunch banquet consisting of a couple courses. I'd put the place more into the fancy/fine dining spectrum as opposed to being casual. Every time I've went here has been at the minimum in business casual if not business formal. I'd recommend the place if you are looking for some tasty fine dining options. Definitely a nice escape from all the chain restaurants and sub par food in Shippensburg.

Nice little Gem in an unexpected area. Excellent food. Pasta was freshly made. Chef started out with an unexpected New York Strip amuse bouche and finished it with a Lemon Sorbet. Surprised to get a 5 course meal for $34. Casual Fine Dining.

Excellent value and fantastic food are what you will find at The Orchards Restaurant. Today we were three. We shared one another's food and everyone loved everything. The Cheese steak sandwich is real steak and it's one of the best I've ever had. The creme brulee is top notch. The service? Service is extremely important in the restaurant business and The Orchards Restaurant has it covered very well. The people are really friendly and their service is very courteous and professional. Now, if I only lived in Chambersburg, I could eat here more often!

Decent place to eat. Food is usually on point. I've had the french onion soup and it was pretty good. One of the few local restaurants I would actually recommend in this area. Does have a bar called Relax connected. So you can do the casual dining or the bar scene. Still open to smoking inside so keep that in mind.

This is a big city restaurant with small town service. The waiters are a tad cheezy, but you know, it's better than most jerk-like waiters. Food: Great, flavorful, high quality. Top shelf liquor and great martini's Service: Attentive, but somewhat cheezy Ambiance: Like a big city steakhouse. if you aren't comfortable in that environment, know what to expect. Overall, very impressed. Would hope to keep this restaurant in business to help attract other similar eateries.

not great, but not bad. not a whole lot on the menu for a vegetarian though. i prefer the lunch menu to dinner, and the best dishes here are the desserts, in my experience. i get that they're trying to be elegant and the tablecloths and candles are nice, but the furnishings/decor/atmosphere are a little too dark and heavy for my liking. it's kinda like stepping into a time machine and landing in the 1930's.

While going to the area for the weekend to meet up with friends, my husband and I had the pleasure to dine at Orchard for an early dinner on a Saturday. We ate in the Civil War room which is very dark, cozy and romantic. As we were there around 5, we were practically the only ones in there so it was really quiet and nice. We started out with some saganaki and it was really good. Our waitress was especially attentive and friendly. She brought us out a complimentary little appetizer of smoked salmon. I'm not a big fan of smoked salmon but it was tastey. We both ordered a Greek salad which was superb. The lettuce was fresh and crispy and the dressing was not overpowering and it had plenty of kalamata olives. I chose the petite prime rib that was thick and huge! I'd hate to see what the regular size looked like....probably hung over the plate! It was pink and juicy and like butter! I had it with some horseradish sauce and some Greek potatoes. Delicious! My husband had a filet which was good size. He said it was good. Then the waitress brought out a little sorbet to cleanse our pallette. Okay, right about now I am stuff but couldn't resist trying the creme brulee and a cappacino. A generous portion of creme brulee served room temperature that had a great texture and wonderul flavor. The cappacino had a hint of cinnamon. We had a bottle of 2004 Washington State Three Rivers Merlot that went great with the beef. For my husband's dessert, he decided to have a glass of 16 year old Lagavulin scotch. He thought he had died and went to heaven! This restaurant was marvelous! The food is great, service is impeccable and I love the Civil War Room. Doesn't get much better than that!

Big. This is a big restaurant in a big building. You could take the entire football team if you made a reservation. The food was good. Portions weren't huge, but they were satisfying and the presentation was nice. The atmosphere was a little over the top. The service made me uncomfortable. I mean they were attentive, but I felt like it was all fake. When the little waiter came with his little brush and brushed my bread crumbs (ok I'm sloppy alright!) into a little plate, I could hardly take it. It's also pricey. It also felt like they were looking "down" at you. Or maybe that's just my insecurity. We took our kids here for a family celebration and they weren't impressed either.

I was driving to the hills of Western VA on 81 and decided to stop in Chambersburg, PA and finish driving to the Springs the next day. It was hectic driving from Harrisburg to Chambersburg with all the construction and I was glad to arrive. I asked the woman at the desk to recommend a restaurant. "No Chains!" I said. She gave me a 15% discount card for an entree at Orchards and said it was top notch. I followed the map on the card and found it with little trouble. This is not a big town; however, I found the place to be a bit pretentious. As I walked in I heard Old Blue Eyes singing, and had positive thoughts. I was surprised by the prices and some of the items made me laugh, like Seafood Manhattan Chowder. What an oxymoron. I think of Chowder as a cream based stew, and Manhattan as a tomato based seafood soup. I've never accepted Manhattan Clam chowder as a term. When I found out it was tomato based I passed on it and I ordered Portabella mushroom stuffed with crab for $6.95. It was pretty good, but not what I expected. It was actually a portabella smothered by a crab sauce mix with melted cheese on top. Interesting. For my main course, I ordered braised monkfish (poor man's lobster) and shrimp over fennel, baby spinach, plum tomatoes, and fingerling potatoes, it was served in a white wine dill broth. Nice presentation, but not enough fish for the price: $23.95. I didn't like the house red, so I ordered a glass of Parducci Pinot Noir of CA for $9. It was perfect with the entree. The waiter really tried hard to please, bringing me little things like red wine cheese spread for the bread sticks: garlic, onion and plain. Apple Cider sorbet at the end, and other stuff. Another oxymoron I saw was the Souvlaki platter in the Touch of Greece section. It was made of pork kabobs and not the traditional meat, Lamb. I know with the economic crisis in Greece now they are substituting Lamb for pork now because it is less expensive. But this place prides itself as a high end restaurant. All in all it was pretty good. And, oh yes, they had live entertainment too. A very good singer accompanying herself on the guitar. I was going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars and decided to go with 3 because of the better restaurants on this trip.

One of the best restaurants in Chambersburg! Very nice menu, excellent wine list, and attentive servers. Don't let the upscale atmosphere fool you though, you can go in and get a nice basic meal for very reasonable price or celebrate with a gourmet meal complete with a fine wine. And that staff is equall nice no matter which route you choose. I almost always eat in the lounge and find the atmosphere to be very nice and relaxed. The owners are exceptionally gracious and move through the room greeting guests and making sure their experience is a good one. A nice quiet place that is suitable for a "first date" or just hangin out with friends. The lounge is lowly lit and makes for an intimate experience even when busy. Overall, a very good restaurant choice.

The Orchards has had solid service and food both times I've been. The atmosphere is upscale and quiet (even in the somewhat casual lounge area). The service is warm and friendly. The meal starts off with an amuse bouche. Entrees are reasonably priced (they each include 2 sides) and they have a decent wine list with a variety of French wines. If you don't order dessert, they will finish your meal off with sorbet and some delicious chocolates. Overall, it's been a very good experience each time!
