Okay, so my 2-1/2 year old son, my wife and I went to Iron Skillet for breakfast. I learned a long time ago that if a truck stop is popular with the truckers, that means the food is good and the prices are reasonable. This Iron Skillet was no exception. The food was quite tasty and the prices were VERY reasonable. My only gripe is that I think they had the air conditioning on because is was kinda chilly in there and I think this kept the food from staying warm on the plate once it left the buffet...oh and the coffee wasn't hot. The staff was friendly and very attentive.

Great for a truckers stop, bad for a real restaurant. Do not take a date there, don't do a business meeting there, just no. Good for a quick stop during a road trip. I wasn't surprised when I saw a lot of truck drivers sitting in the restaurant. The plates are literally iron skillets, very fun. However, I noticed when we entered that the staff was a little slow. It was about 30 minutes until the waitress got to our table. She was very polite. I got the buffet. Now, when we walked in, it looked very appetizing. When I actually got a closer look, I was not impressed. Let's start with the pastas and bread etc. Some of the things were not labeled and I almost ate pork. Thanks to another fellow kind citizen, he warned me that they didn't taste good and that the bacon tasted raw. The bread was cold, and the butter looked funny. The fried chicken was good, but the rotisserie chicken was raw and tasted like boiled chicken. Was not happy with it. The pies were cold and the cookies were not edible.. Burnt to a crisp and left to get stale. The salad bar was messy but good. The thousand island dressing tasted like straight up mayonnaise. The 7 pepper fish was raw too and the sides were small. Not worth the 12 dollars. Overpriced, most definitely. I will reccomend the McDonald or Arby's or Wendy's next door.

Staff was friendly but service was slow. I ordered shaved steak an cheese breakfast. 35 minutes to get it and when I did get it, it wasn't even hot enough to melt the cheese...

Our waitress was kind and had southern hospitality. The restaurant was kid friendly. The service was quick. I got steak and eggs and it was absolutely delicious. My husband got biscuits and gravy and the gravy was the best we've ever tasted! Going here lifted our spirits. The food was fresh and hot

Yes it's a truck stop restaurant! The staff was very friendly. The food was just ok. Yes it was a bit pricey but hell the kids eat free!! Buffet looked dry so I got a burger. Typical frozen patty nothing much. Wife had turkey on pretzel roll. It was dry. Kids loved the chicken tenders. I have three stars due to food being hot and staff being very nice and friendly.

I was expecting for someone to jump behind the wall and tell us we were on some candid camera show and that the food served was a joke. If Robert Irvine or Gordon Ramsey came to this place they would have a stroke. This was hands down the worst food I had. Not hyperbole. The "Swedish meatballs" looked like cat food. I tried to taste it and it tasted like cat food. Seriously. Every single item on their buffet was either old or overcooked. I am hot a picky eater or anything, but I couldn't find anything they had that was decent or looked like I was not going to get sick. They had BBQ ham that was all fat. They had seafood salad that looked like it was from a dumpster. Canned corn, instant mashed potatoes, and store bought deserts. I literally cannot believe this is a real business and that it is open. Besides buying terrible food you can go get some fake chrome, get a prepaid cell phone, get a hair cut, play some arcade games, and buy some ancient warrior type of weapons as well at this place along with a host of other shady looking businesses. I am still trying to figure out if that was real and if I was punked. If you want a side show check it out, but do not eat here. Ever. The snacks in the convenience store were much better then the prison food (served on aluminum skillets from the great depression) that were served here. I have reached a new low eating at the Iron Skillet and I suggest others to not make the same mistake I made.

Read the other bad reviews, they nailed it. Terrible service and even worse food. Stay away.

Well, when you're starving and on a long trip on the PA turnpike and don't feel like eating at the usual rest stops, almost anything tastes good......almost anything. To be fair, this wasn't the worst place I've ever been to. It is a truck stop style restaurant, so it is what it is...as a matter of fact, the experience was memorable. The kind but steriotypical waitress said: "we're serving steak and shrimp at the buffet tonight for $12.99." The "steak" had that liver-like taste and the shrimp was your basic frozen breaded variety; I enjoyed the shrimp. They had a bunch of other stuff to...salad, various potatoes, soups, pasta, deserts, etc., not bad but the place is....indescribable...go there and consider it a piece of Americana! Enjoy

Don't expect any good food here. The quality is piss poor. This mainly a truck stop restaurant. Over priced.

We stopped out at this truck stop to drop off an item to be embroidered at Truck Stop Embroidery and, since we hadn't yet eaten and the item would be ready in just 20 minutes, we decided to have a meal while we waited. We weren't sure what to expect but thought, "eh, how bad could it be?" Actually, the food was awesome !! We both had seats in our freshly cleaned booth and were promptly greeted by Ashley, a very upbeat, friendly and seemingly well-seasoned and efficient server. Our drinks were brought quickly and she brought a pitcher of water to help ourselves with after the first refill. We both had the chickenstrips meal and they were amazing. I mean it's hard to mess up chicken fingers -- one of the reason we got them -- but gosh were they good. $10 and it looked like we each got about a half of a chicken. There was also a very tasty looking hot foods bar that we will go back to try. All together an amazing meal -- the service was ridiculously friendly and efficient and the food was wonderful. The place was packed and I understand why. What I don't understand is all these bad reviews because we drive through the area and visit Truck Stop Embroidery every few months and the restaurant is always crowded. We'll be back !!

In general Iron Skillet usually has good food. Usually. Not this location. We both got the buffet and my Co driver went for the hot food while I are my salad. Now he eats anything and he said this was some pretty bad stuff. They have what they call beef stroganoff on the buffet, it was rotini pasta (really?) And I tried a bite of it off the Co drivers plate. Tasted like it came out of a can. I decided to get something off the menu then. I got chicken fried streak. The white gravy as like water, the oil the fries cooked in needed changed a long time ago and I can't even describe the taste of the steak. I can't even remember, if ever I got something taken off the bill. The manager, Joe I believe his name was, was unapologetic and appeared to care less. If I'm still here tomorrow, I'll walk across the street to McDonalds or up the road to waffle house. WORST FOOD EVER.

started off with waiting at least 10 minutes for server to come over. then when creamer was poured into coffee it curdled, I got up from table to pour out coffee find new cream and silverware as the server wasn't coming back any time soon. after ordering three of us were served our food with a fairly long wait the fourth person in our party did not get served their food until the rest of us were done eating, and I eat slowly. the food was mediocre at best but did not expect much as it is a truck stop. and then to top it off, it gave me bubble gut for the rest of the day. would not recommend this place.
