Love the pizza from here. Very tasty!!! Omg just thinking about it makes my mouth water! Yummy!!! But I didn't like the chicken wings. They were a little too dry for my personal preference. I prefer them to be juicy. But go try it out for yourself. :) still good tho!b

It seems most either love or really dislike this place. I can't say I really dislike this place, but I can tell you the pizza is weird. There's very little cheese. I'm sure that's by design, but it doesn't make sense to me. I will very likely go elsewhere for pizza but I may try a sub at some point. No rush though.

AMAZING, AMAZING.....100 stars!!!! First let me start off by saying this a very unique type of pizza, so anyone should understand it from that context. It's not meant to be your typical pizza - depending on what style you like, you'll either love it or hate it. Hope this description helps: Thankfully, they're not afraid to actually use sauce....plus, the swirl comes standard!!! And so many other places barely put sauce on their pizza - might as well call it cheesy bread. Perhaps most importantly, the sauce - it's deliciously sweet. If you don't like sweet sauce on pizza, this place is not for you. And the dough....oh....so soft and tender. The dough and cheese are not at all greasy, another plus from my standpoint. Other food is delish too - chicken caesar hogie, beef cheesesteak, chicken cheesesteak, strombolies, fried dough, etc. Franzones pizza is the absolute best pizza I've ever had and I'd argue that it is the best pizza ever created on the earth. The only downside is that is has ruined everyone else's pizza for me - I'd just rather not have pizza at all, unless it's from Franny Z's!!!!

Rude. Rude. RUDE! Homophobic maybe? Who knows... Regardless. They should cease to ignore their patrons at the counter. And the pizza? Well it was wrong even tho they said it out loud correctly prior to handing it to us. And it was cold even tho we were early to pick it up. I will from now on, pass it to get a pizza from the Conshohocken Franzones. They're nicer, AND the pizza is far better.

Probably the BEST PIZZA I've ever had in my life and being a born and raised New Yorker that says alot. Soooo good and mouth-watering!

Pizza had a weird taste to it. Lots of sauce and lacking cheese not a fan of this pizza joint. Many people seem to think this is the best pizza in philly. They are wrong.

Horrible food. Barely any cheese on the cheesesteaks, hoagie had little meat and no lettuce. I think I had some type of chicken sandwich but there was barely enough meat to confirm if in fact it was a chicken sandwich.

  • Lisa G.

The cheesesteak is really really good. Loaded with meat and cheese. Right amount of peppers and onions. Seasoned good too. Got it delivered to my hotel. That and a Pepsi. Right on time! The slice of pepperoni was cold when it arrived and I was too lazy to warm it up, but the flavor on the cold pizza led me to believe it was also slap yo mama good. Just pass on them jalapeño poppers tho.

Really good pizza! Sweet sauce, plenty of cheese, good solid crust. I've had plain, white, pepperoni, and sausage pizza from here and it was all good but I think plain is my favorite. We've picked up and gotten delivery and our order is always ready pretty quick. Is this the best pizza in Philly? No!. The cheapest? No way! Regardless it's a good pie and I'm a fan!

  • Colby C.

Delivery took a very long time , food was cold and soggy by the time I got it , Pizza sauce very sweet and tasted a lot different then regular pizza sauce , wings were soggy as well and very small. Ratings were quite solid which is why I ordered from it but this was a bust I wouldn't really recommend it.

My family will never eat here again. The experience we had this evening has left a foul taste in our mouths. This place uses a sweet sauce to cover up their burnt pies. The manager, Kevin, could not care less about pleasing and fixing their deficiencies. The board of health should investigate the long hairs we found in their "sweet" sauce.

  • Mary C.

Just drove there from work to get a cheesesteak. The guy at the counter was unfriendly. Being a Philly I am not used to that. Most folks in our Region are way friendly. The cheesesteak was just ok. And a real negative is that they don't use Heinz ketchup! Some weird off brand packets. That really affects the flavor. I expect this in another part of the country, not this close to the Mecca of Cheesesteaks. Won't go there for this again.

Pizza ordered yesterday was cold when delivered and the sauce was terrible. Cheese Fries were cold also and just had mozzarella cheese melted on it. (thats not what cheese fries are supposed to be made with.

People say this is Philly's best cheapest pizza. Uh uuh, it's just really good pizza regardless of price. They say you can always judge a pie by the margarita, but what I'm learning here in Philly, it's about the "plain" pie. There's is strictly Splatter Spiral red and white. A thing of beauty and to be lusted after. The sauce is sweet and plentiful so choose toppings wisely (i.e. probably not a good idea to get sweet peppers and other sweeter veggies). Probably a good (GENIUS) idea to get the "Old Fashioned" a pizza sandwich if you will, with onions, American cheese and "Pizza cheese." You can now die. You're welcome.

I eat at franzone's at least once a week, but after the service today (or lack there of) i will not be returning. When you sit at a booth for close to twenty minutes and are looked at by the staff but never once acknowledged then the owner should start taking applications. I left and went to little Sicily, received excellent service and a delicious pizza for the small price of traveling up the street.

Ordered a Large Pepperoni Pizza w/ Green peppers and onions, and sausage on one half, a cheesesteak, zucchini stixs and mac & cheese bites last night for dinner. The delivery took over 1 & 1/2 hours to get here, the pepperoni pizza came with no pepperoni but with the green peppers onions and sausage on half (bizarre way to screw it up). The pizza was stone cold and soggy, cheese steak was cold and so were the apps. After reheating everything, it wasn't even that good, certainly not worth the amount of money i paid for it. Will not be ordering from here again.

This pizza is one of the best I've ever had. Their sauce is unique and the pizza crust thin and crispy. We ordered pizza with sausage and the sausage was excellent. Prices are low. We paid less than $20 for a medium pizza and two drinks. The only critique I have is the parking situation and it was pretty hot in the restaurant when we went in early October.

  • john s.

If you like thin, chewy, flavorful crust, light cheese and mildly sweet, swirled sauce you will love this pizza. Very high quality, very consistent and a unique flavor unlike anything else in the area. Not greasy and almost "light" tasting, not a heavy pizza that sits in your stomach like a rock. Truly one of a kind and one of my personal favorites.

The debate will shake the walls of this country for as long as Franzones is open. "Is it the best pizza ever made by human hands?" In my opinion YES. I do understand when people say, "Ew this sauce is too sweet." But they have to understand when I say, "It's just too good for your underdeveloped brain to comprehend." Get this pizza plain, no toppings. Extra cheese if anything, but try it plain first. Find out if you are a lover or a hater. Everyone is one of the two. There is no middle ground.

  • Cheri C.

Absolutely delicious! I've had their pepperoni pizza which was great. But today I opted for change. I was in the mood for healthier option and white pizza with spinach it was. I was hesitant because I've had others which were horrible. But Franzone's done it again and even better! Fresh, hot, and fast delivery. Definitely a staple! Word of mouth goes along way. If this place wasn't recommended to me I'd mostly likely never known or even tried them. Well worth it!

  • Kristyn S.

Ate here one time since living in the area. Pizza wasn't bad, but the place was so dirty. Will never go back / order again because of that!

  • Don B.

I have only had Franzone's pizza, but it's quite tasty and cheap. The sauce has a sweet taste to it and it's not your typical sauce. The service sometimes leaves a bit to be desired, but not enough to really knock it down too far in my book. They also have great specials, so look out for those and save a few bucks. It's my go to pizza place in that area and I recommend trying it out if you haven't.

  • Loretta C.

Great pizza. Thin and crispy. Sauce is sweet and the proportion of cheese to sauce is perfect. I highly recommend this place as the staff is incredibly friendly too!

  • Erin M.

I thought I loved this place but clearly ordering delivery from here is not good. The 1st time I got delivery the pizza was so thin and flimsy my family barely ate it. I have eaten at this pizzeria serval times before and have ordered pick up and enjoyed my food. I have only ordered single slices until my first delivery so maybe those toast up easier. The second time I got delivery the pizza was just as horrible as the first time. The pizza dough is just way too thin and I guess has too much cheese and sauce. I really wanted to love this place because the flavor is there but they just can't seem to deliver a decent pizza. Due to that problem I'm most likely never going to order from here. They are just not consistent with the dough texture and I would rather know what to expect when I order a pizza.

    (2)
  • Cassie S.

It's all in the sauce... their pies are amazing! The sauce is sweet yet tangy, and I haven't had anything like it before! I've tried some of the other appetizers such as the broccoli bites and their french fries, and those are definitely sub-par, which is the only reason my rating lacked one star. If you're looking for great pizza at a good price, look no further!

    (4)
  • Blake H.

We love their pizza. We usually get a plain, a pepperoni, and a couple orders of wings probably once a week, or every other week. The sauce on pizza is sweet, it's delicious. The wings are a good size and a decent price. I switched it up last week and got sausage on my pizza, first time I got it, i think it took over for the pepperoni from now on. I've had other stuff from here, cheese steaks, zeps, strombolis. That are decent, being in the area that I'm in, I'd more likely hit pudges, and eve's for that stuff. Their delivery is really fast too, It might just be because we order from there so often they know the quickest way to my house by now.

  • Erik B.

One of the best pizza's in the area. I have been to Franzone's more times then I can count. Donna is by far the best waitress there. She is always very friendly and eager to please the customers. I love the sweet sauce which is rare among all the pizza places in the Philly area.

    (4)
  • Rissa H.

Love this place! I've been ordering from them for years and their pizza is amazing! Very friendly on the phone and while delivering, I grew up eating this stuff and still love it!

  • Patrick M.

this is a 4.5 star review that i rounded down slightly. as you can see from these reviews, it's polarizing. the sweet sauce is life changing and i have yet to come across anything like it. prices are cheap to fair. the crust is pretty meh in my opinion. he place also has a beautiful Philly gruffness to it, which adds points. Bridgeport ** can ** be sketchy as shit so plan for that.

  • Felicia M.

I grabbed a quick plain slice here after visiting the King of Prussia mall. It was not quite New York style pizza and the sauce used was a bit sweet for my taste. Nonetheless, it was a good quick snack.

  • Abby I.

Ordered delivery on a Wednesday night. I tried the baked ziti and the Charlie D's pizza. Neither were memorable. I was disappointed that I asked for mushrooms on the Charlie D pizza and they were missing. Not sure if I'd come back.

  • Jeremy L.

I'm gonna keep this short: This is the best pizza I have ever had, no question. The sauce is sweet, but not overly so. The regular cheese pizza is prepared with basically half of the pizza not covered in cheese, which is wonderful for me because the cheese to sauce ratio is exactly how I like it. The crust is perfectly thin and crunchy. The space isn't great, the wait can be ridiculously long, the customer service is bad, but I can't possibly give the shop that makes my favorite pizza anything less than five stars. Simple as that.

  • Chris A.

Food: 1 Decor: 1.5 Ambiance: 2.5 Service: 2.5 Value: 2 People either love this pizza or they hate it. I hate it. I cannot take the sweetness and lack of cheese.

  • Tommy G.

I grew up eating Franzone's Pizza over 40 years now. As other reviews have stated, the sauce is delictably sweet and the pizza crust is rarely left behind. We have had Mack's pizza at the shore, Santucci's in Philly and almost every other pizza available in the tri-state area. NOTHING is like Franzone's Pizza. It is absolutely the bomb. Yes, as others said, any first time newbies have to try the basic plain pizza; no toppings or extra cheese. You will be immediately addicted to these pies !

    (5)
  • Brandon M.

Everyone knows Franzone's leans on their sauce to set them apart. It's very sweet, sweeter than I'd usually prefer, but on their pies, with their cheese, it works. It's definitely worth a try, if only once or twice.

When I moved to the Norristown area, my husband and his family quickly took to my initiation. When living here, they insisted, one must try Franzone's pizza. Love it or hate it (what they say is true), it must be done. Having lead a gluten-free life for several months, I can say it didn't take much convincing before the delivery person had been paid and I was lifting a foldable, saucy slice to my mouth. The sauce reminds me of the Roma sauce my mother would make when I was a child; smooth, sweet, tangy, and perfect to pair with those ubiquitous crusty breads. It's essentially a marinara sauce, tweaked to blend with the delicious glutinous sugars of their thin crust. As others have mentioned, the use of cheese could be classified as "sparingly". Originally I though this might cause issue, as I hardly believe such a thing exists as too much cheese. I simply love the stuff. Happily, the absence of gooey cheese was not a concern in the end. To be fair, there is a nostalgia in the world of pizza for that medium-thick crust, tomato-forward sauce, and plain 'ole mozzarella. That's not what you'll find here. I believe that the classic has it's place, but I don't think that the classic is all there is to pizza. I'm decidedly neutral on the Chicago v. NY debate and I like to think I have an open mind on all of these wonderful edible variations we call pizza. When it comes to devouring multiple slices of sweet, slightly chewy tomato-crust-cheese concoctions, Franzone's is a new go-to for me.

The best stromboli, period. The best pizza sauce. Excellent salad w pasta dishes. Gigunda meatballs w spaghetti. Bring some friends, talk (plenty of seats you are never rushed) and feast.

We order from Franzone's once a week, always the pizza! We moved to Bridgeport and asked the neighbors for a pizza recommendation and they ALL raved for Franzone's. Best pizza hands down!

  • Lex B.

The service at Franzone's is really what made me give it 2 two stars. The last time I went was on a Friday night, and it looked like it was run by a bunch of teenagers that had absolutely no concept of customer service! It was just a bunch of people standing around doing nothing while I waited at the counter to be served my pick up order. And when I was waited on, I got little to no acknowledgement. The chicken wings are pretty good but I've gotten a cheese steak there and it was really dry and lacked the toppings I asked for (mushrooms and onions). The beer is over priced, and even though many people rave about the sweet sauce on the pizza, I really don't think it's that special. I don't think I'll come back here anytime soon due to the poor service. Update 10/25/2013 Got a pizza the other night, the toppings were good and plentiful, however the dough is too soft almost like they don't cook the pie all the way. My main complaint this time is while eating my pizza I found a few (not one, a few) short hairs on my pizza slice. I called to inform them and the guy who answered the phone was very friendly and offered me a free pizza for next time. Beware, if there is hair in the food, I just wonder if they even wash their hands or follow general health and safety guidelines.

Best pizza ever always piping hot. Crust is like cake. Sauce is delectable. I could drink it by pitcher.

The pizza is disgusting. Probably the worst I've ever eaten. Total waste of money.

First time to have this pizza. Ordered it with extra cheese. Can honestly say that if I didn't know it was from a pizzeria I would have thought it was a frozen pizza from the grocery store. Normally we get our pizza from Sicilian Delight in KOP....sadly Franzone's pales in comparison.

  • Danielle B.

Franzone's makes the best pizza I've ever had, by a factor of a million! The crust is thin and the right mix of crispy and chewy, the sauce is sweet, and there's not too much cheese. Delivery to King of Prussia is always prompt, and I've never had much of a wait to dine in. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, just your average neighborhood pizza place. But seriously, it is the most delicious pizza of all time.

  • Maura G.

Worst. Pizza. Ever. you either love frazone's or you hate franzone's. i obviously hate franzone's. the sauce is way to sweet to be pizza sauce, and it's served on top of the cheese. unless you are in chicago eating a deep dish, that is pizza sacrlige. the cheese is never melted when i've had franzone's. granted, most of the times i've had it have been take out or delivery, so that give's the pizza time to cool, but it's still gross. heating the pizza before you eat it doesn't help. the crust is like cardboard. you might as well take the pizza box and dip it in ketchup instead of spending your money on this pizza. sweet sauce belongs on tomato pie. cheese belongs on top of pizza. if you can get past these 2 rules, then maybe you'd like franzone's. me, not so much.

I came here for lunch with a friend. There was lots of seating available so we sat ourselves in a booth. Service came quickly: our waitress asked if we wanted drinks and then we ordered a pizza to share. We had half of our pie (medium and of the thin-crust variety) covered with smoked hot sausage and pineapples, leaving the other half plain. Our order came out in about 10 minutes. A friend told me that the pizza sauce was super-sweet, like a dessert. I wouldn't go that far, but it was a deliciously sweet sauce. BIG NEGATIVE: Smoking is permitted inside. (Docking a star for that, sadly.) I'll inhale cigarette fumes at a bar, thank you! Speaking of bars, domestic and imported beer is available for purchase.

I stopped in early to pick up a cheesesteak to take across the country for a cheesesteak deprived hungry man. I was disappointed in how it looked. Like it was on a diet. Not a good impression considering I rave about how great cheesesteaks are. Ill stick with the pizza there for sure though. Thats still good

Straight up Bridgeport. Go for the plain cheese pizza for the best Franzone's experience. Quality is dependent on the cook. Seems to better on the weekends than weekdays although their prices on Monday are fantastic ($6 for a large starting at 5:00 and increases by a dollar per hour). Sandwiches are merely ok. Good beer selection in the fridge with plenty of microbrews available. Decor is pizza shop circa 1980. When I miss the old formica I used to have on my kitchen walls I come here and see the same stuff on their tables. Can't ask for much more for an authentic local pizza place.

  • Mark G.

I LOVE the sweet sauce. I know its not everybodies thing and I normally don't even like sweet things. I guess what I'm saying is; you have to give it a try. Pizza is virtually a religion with me, I love a good deep dish with EVERYTHING on it. But when you come to Franzone's - do just the opposite. Get it plain, the flavor really comes through and it's great. You will later thank me for this advice and might even consider erecting a statue in my honor. Enjoy!

I still go back to Franzones, their the best. The sauce is just soooooooo goooooodddddd

  • James R.

Order the Pizza. Its one of a kind. I grew up with Friday nights (and Saturday mornings) basically being synonymous with Franzones. They have a sweet sauce that is completely addictive. If i could pay $20 to have it delivered to me here in DC i'd do it in a second. It's a decent eat in place, but nothing special in terms of ambience, especially because they have this ugly pornstar looking beer girl poster up. If you do eat in, try the vanilla coke. It's not the premade stuff, it's way better. Monday night is Pizza clock, with pizza being SERIOUSLY DISCOUNTED. There is no reason anyone who can get to Franzones for pickup would ever cook on a Monday again. Other things that are good: Cheesesteaks, Onion Rings, Fries with Brown Gravy, Milkshakes.

I'm not a fan of the swirly pizza. Dino's is about the same price and tastes better. The fried dough should take a tip from Big Daddy's in Brighton MA and top them with powdered sugar, butterscotch, and cinnamon instead of granulated sugar.

My fiancee and I got a coupon in the mail for a free large cheese pizza for carry-out, dine in, or delivery. We decided to use it for delivery one night when we were being lazy. I call, order the pizza and tell them about the coupon. They say that the manager changed his mind and it can't be used for delivery even though it says so right on the face of the coupon. I tell him that I also want a soda and some wings. He says, no problem, we can deliver now. The pizza took an hour and 15 minutes to show up and it was cold. I don't mean that it was warm, I mean it was room temperature. We had to throw it in the oven before we'd even eat a slice. While it was in the oven, I looked at the receipt. They forgot to take the coupon off after all. I called about the coupon and was told that they'd cancel my transaction and re-charge my card with the lesser amount, we'll see. I'm not holding my breath. We both agree that the pizza would have been decent if it were hot. The crust was good and the sauce was sweet, but not overpowering. The wings were decent. Not the best, but certainly not bad. Between the shadiness of trying not to honor their coupon, and then charging me for it anyway combined with the SLOW delivery and cold pizza, I have to say that I'm not going to order from there again. Vito's is right up the street from me, and Dino's delivery is also from Bridgeport but is never this slow and I've never gotten cold pizza from them. We're generally happy with both pizza places, but figured we'd try this one because of the coupon. Well, it failed. I won't waste my time here when there are two other equal or better places in the area that I've never had a problem with.

The first pizza I've found in the Philly Burbs that blew my mind. If you don't love this pizza, then you have to at least admit that it's pretty incredible. They're got the best sauce around.

  • Michael P.

Franzone's is a local pizzeria in a blue collar, small town, with the best pizza that I have ever tasted. I mean that in all sincerity. If you are in or near Bridgeport and you like pizza, you will be doing yourself a serious disservice if you do not stop and have a slice. Franzone's pizza has a unique, sweet taste that distinguishes itself from other pizzas. It has lots of sauce and not much bread - which happens to be exactly how I like my pizza. They also do good hoagies, cheesestakes and other Philly-area favorites. I am docking one star because they recently put "wine" on the menu (it feels really out of place here - trust me!) and they charge $5 to bring it out to you in a small paper cup. It's clearly the type of wine in which $5 would normally get you a whole bottle. Don't do it.

I have an open mind only to get burned. As a native jersey boy with a sensibility against hair gel and inappropriate shouting, I maintain a heightened taste of all foods, especially italian and pizza. Italian food in Italy, generally good, their pizza....eh something akin to a crepe with sliced tomatoes. Not bad, just not REAL pizza. Apparently that can only come from either Jersey or NY with of course the exception of Manhattan (awful pizza, oddly enough). So one might think that, maybe the Philly area by its near presence near the pizza capital of the world, may make at least something amounting to more than a slice of pita bread with ketchup. Well in this respect, Philly can claim that distinction, along with Franzones. After driving to meet a friend from Villanova, we looked to Yelp to help (heh, I rhymed) us in our quest. Nice usual looking joint....the pie looked a bit doughy, it was, cool swirls on it though. Alas, when we received our pie, I ate it. No, I wasn't drunk, though that probably would have helped. I ate 3 slices, I was still hungry, but I didn't want a fourth. It started tasting bleh. Edible, so 2 stars. You PA people, in fact everyone, should do yourselves a favor and just take the hour and a half drive to someone north of Trenton on the other side of the Delaware. If you regularly use this website, that won't sound unreasonable.

if you live by Franzones...GO THERE! if its a monday...GO THERE AND BUY DOUBE THE AMOUNT OF PIZZAS! my fiance, roomate and i love this place! monday night they have beat the clock...if you order between the hours of 5-6 its 5 bucks a pizza.... 6-7 its 6 bucks...so on and so forth. totally worth it. mondays are "franzones night" and all our friends know it...and will show up without warning ;) they make the best sweet sauce pizza around. crack sauce i call it...you keep wanting more. okay, at least i do. and the broccoli bites....get them too!! oh, and they have beer. perfecto! only downside, it can get crowded. delivery is slow, and waiting in line after you ordered 40 min ago is a pain. but ill deal with it.

  • Alie L.

I went against my better judgement and gave this place another shot because I work down the street from them. Boy what a mistake that was. The food was COMPLETELY lousy in every sense of the word. My hamburger was plain and bland, and I refused to eat my order of onion rings, which I returned because they were so over cooked that the onions were practically gone, and the batter was dark, hard, and seeping with grease! I wish I took a picture of these rings so I could post it. Do yourselves a favor and stay clear of this place unless you just want to take your chances with their pizza, which is hit or miss these days.

    (1)
  • Joseph M.

Use to be great but has been slipping. The pizza is so inconsistent. Every guy makes it different and some are much better than others. Dont ever go for the monday pizza special. I think pizza is made in advance and just heated up. Twice now i got it and it was dry and disgusting. Also workers are ignorant.

Too sweet for me...after the second slice I couldn't eat anymore. I like Grotto's Pizza better, but then again I'm from DE. BONUS: Franzone's Take-out Beer selection is the best I've seen for a Pizzeria. Lot's of local brews.

  • Alex B.

very polarizing pizza, but in my opinion, it's the best out there. real thin crust, VERY sweet sauce, and not overloaded with cheese. order more than you think you'll need, it's that good.

We were staying in King of Prussia for the night, and we wanted a quick bite and decided on pizza. I hopped on Yelp and did some research, and figured I'd give Franzone's a shot. I'm extremely glad that we did. We drove to Franzone's; passing up onthe delivery option. I wasn't too pleased with the lack of parking lot, but it's not that big a deal. Ordered a large pepperoni pizza to go and it was ready to go in ten minutes. Once we got back to our hotel, we dug into the pizza and immediately noticed the famed sweet sauce that Franzone's uses. It's definitely a hit or miss taste, but I really enjoyed it. The pizza was thin and crispy, allowing me to easily eat four slices without feeling like I was going to bust. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

    (4)
  • Bill M.

I love the pizza but you need to try it because it is not for everyone. I stop in for a few slices every chance I can. Get the plain because it is too thin for toppings. The Zeps are classic too. The place is not much to speak about and the service is spotty especially at the pizza counter but if you want some blue collar good eats give it a go.

Ahhhhhh Franzones! Definitely one of the best pizza pies you'll ever try. There's none like it anywhere and Franzone's has their own style of pizza making that will make you remember whether you love it or hate it. Most love it as it's fresh, thin, well cooked and just the right amount of cheese. No, we're not talking a cheese pie, and we're also not talking about a tomato pie. We are talking the perfect marriage between crust, tomato sauce and cheese to create a great, crisp, fresh tasting pie. Yum!

I can totally see how this sweet sauce isn't for everyone, but since trying this place a few months ago, I'm having dreams about this pizza. How often does that happen with plain o' pizza?! And add to it that you get the sweetness with a great crispy thin, Neopolitan style crust that is just great.

Worst pizza ever! If I could give it zero stars I would! The sauce is too damn sweet....it's more like a dessert than dinner. I'd rather go hungry. Awful, don't waste your money.

The pizza purist might not appreciate Franzone's take on pizza but their combination of sweet sauce, thin crust and sparse cheese makes for a delicious pizza. For those who don't like sweet sauce you can try the "Old-Fashioned" pizza. It's more-or-less a stuffed white pizza. Be prepared for about 2 million calories per slice but it's if definitely worth it. Caramelized onions, two cheeses, and lots of garlic. The only downside to Franzone's is they are the only place on earth that still doesn't have free refills. $1.50 a pop for a large soda, all ice. Lastly, there were no smokers inside when I was there. Maybe the rules have changed???

The sweet sauce tends to be very love it or hate it. I'm def on the love side. Never tried anything else from there, it seems foolish to get anything besides the pizza.

Easily the best pizza in...well, America. And for those of you who want to start a flame war, you can suck it. For the easily offended, I hope it's some consolation to know that I swear at you only out of love for Franzone's. As you can see from my other reviews, I usually hold myself to the highest standards of ladylike behavior. But God--Franzone's! The plain pie is so good here that I am afraid to order anything else, ever, just in case it's my last meal. If you too are looking for a last meal, get a birch beer to go with.

I would never have given Franzone's much thought until a year or so ago, when a local radio station held a pizza contest. Franzone's was one of the 5 finalists. Still, it took me another year or so to drive the few minutes to Bridgeport and try it out. I went for the large plain pizza and a cheesesteak. Franzone's is known for its sweet pizza sauce. Some warned me about this sauce, Others proclaimed it delicous. The pizza has a thin, Neopolitan style crust that is done well. It is thin, though not as thin as some, chewy, with a nice slightly flaky texture around the edges. The only thing I might like a little better is if it were crispier on the bottom, but I had no real complaints. The cheese is not a normal pizza cheese. It seems to be mixture of cheddar and mozerella. Very tasty, like molten lava when it comes out of the oven, and not stringy like a mozzarella pizza. I like the non stringy cheese better and the cheddar taste is actually an improvement. Now the sauce. When I first got this home I had to try the sauce. I took a little on my finger to taste. I figured I made a mistake buying this pizza. The detractors were right. Not exactly. The sauce by itself is not something you would think to put on a pizza becasue of its sweetness. But this is a pizza and the holistic view is all that counts. When combined with the special cheese blend and the tasty, light crust, the sauce is amazing. Besides combining tastes, the quality of the ingredients is key to Franzone's pie. I measure this two ways. Grease and after effects. There was no sickening, dripping grease from these slices. Some necessary grease was visible, but nothing in excess. And after consuming the whole pie, I felt no internal distress, just fullness. Franzone's pizza is one of the really good things, to borrow a phrase. It is innovative, original and masterfully so. Anyone can come up with gimmicks, but to make a classic, like pizza, new again, and actually improve it, that takes genius. The cheesesteak was passable. Ok bread, ok meat, ok cheese, not melted into the meat. It was ok. Smoking inside is bad. I didn't see any of it, but the smell of cigarettes seemed present. I took my food home anyway. There is free parking in the back, across the street. This looks like a real neighborhood place, with the same people coming to eat here for years and years. I definitely urge anyone who likes quality pizza and isn;t turned off by the idea of a sweet sauce, to get to Franzone's and give it a try. My new favorite pizza. 3 stars for the cheesesteak...5 for the pizza.

There is a second Franzone's on Ridge Pike just off the Blue Route exit. Granted, you have to not be put off by the sweetness of the sauce, but combined with the tasty crispy crust and tangy cheese blend (probably American or Cheddar with a little non-greasy Mozz mixed in) the whole is better than the sum of its parts. It was my second favorite to Penny's in Limerick, which I just read here has now closed.

I haven't met anyone who hasn't tried Franzone's pizza without falling in love completely. And if loving a pizza pie is wrong, then I don't want to be right. The crust is perfectly thin, and while the cheese coverage is just OK, you don't want too much cheese getting in the way of the awesome sweet sauce. Can't say much about the rest of the menu since I haven't had anything else, but when I want a pizza I go out of my way to go here. Franzone's is legendary.

I recently visited Franzone's for the first time in years. Apparently their pizza was recently voted "Best In Philly". I ofte find this humorous. It seems almost every restaurant I have ever been to has received tghis award. I found Franzone's pizza to be very unimpressive. The sauce was way too sweet and they were very light on the toppings. I also found the place to be a little on the dirty side. If you want a really GREAT PIECE OF PIZZA, GO TO ALFRED'S TOMATOE PIE IN BLACKWOOD, NJ.

Regular or Sicilian, this pizza is amazing!! The sauce is perfectly sweet! The service and general ambiance is better at this location than the Conshohocken/Plymouth Meeting location. The wait staff are friendly and accommodating! We call before our lunch break to order ahead and they have a table set and ready for us when we get there! It's a lunchtime favorite!

I've got a tear in my eye as I write this. I lived in Paoli & Berwyn Pennsylvania from 1964 to 1971. We would drive all the way to Bridgeport to get Franzone's Pizza (then called DeJohn's?). It was the best pizza I had ever had in my young life. As it turns out, it would be among the best pizza I would ever have. And I do include Manhattan Ray's as well as others. It is in a very unpretentious end of town (hah!). And they get to the point - great pizza. It's my lifelong example of why I still love Pennsylvania - even as a conscripted Bay Area, California person for 30 years now. They're still in business! Do yourself a favor, go there and order the pizza w/extra cheese, and play mechanical pinball while you wait for your pie (they do still have pinball, right?). BTW, they also have great cheesesteaks.

You can't go wrong with Franzone's! The sauce on the pizza is amazing - sweet stuff. Eat here as much as you can! I would if I didn't move away from the area. Eat extra in my name.

ok, everyone is very picky about their pizza. if you like a delicious, thin, and flaky crust, with an extremely sweet sauce, then franzone's is for you. it's definitely not for everyone... you either love it or hate it, and i love it. plus, the sauce goes on top of the cheese, and it's swirled. who can't love that? because it's a thin crust, you can also shove many more pieces in your piehole than you think you can, and you will love every mouthful. i can't get enough of this pizza. i surprise my good friend on occasion by bringing her this pizza, and she thanks me for it endlessly... and when her husband sees the empty franzone's box, he is heartbroken, as it is always empty...

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
