This summer, we visited various diners each week for breakfast (dubbed Lehigh Valley diner tour 2015). Home Town was the clear winner after 7 visits to local diners. The food is great, coffee is good and is topped off often, and the prices are very reasonable.

(Be sure to try the 11-3 lunch menu if it fits your arrival.) Looking for a diner on the way home, we were going to the Starlight since I knew of it and had been there years ago. I decided to Yelp other places and I was led to Hometown by all of the stellar reviews from the last few months. Well the extra 12 minutes out of the way were more than worth it. The food was delicious, extremely reasonable, fresh and presented well. The service was great and the children's menu is more than reasonable and the portions are large. Will definitely be making this our coming and going goto spot from now on. FYI they are in the process of expansion of the parking lot as well as a new dining room and bar area. I was told they should be closed Nov 4-14 only for the removal and new kitchen install .

Great omelettes and coffee. Judy is a fantastic server, so sweet and personable. Wonderful owner. My only complaint (and its a big one) is THE MUSIC IS HORRIBLE! Not relaxing at all. This is a place where people come to eat and relax... It's not a night club. Please play soft and peaceful music. I often choose other places because the harsh music is not right for relaxing eating.

One of the best diners I have been to. I thought NJ had the best diners ? Well this place gives them a run for their money. The inside of the place is warm and welcoming. The staff matches the warmth of the place. I ordered a All-American Burger. My burger came out in less than 15 minutes, awesome. My fries were piping hot and the burger was very tasty. Loaded to the gills with toppings. Bacon, lettuce, tomato, lots of cheese, and a nice toasted bun. I left full and happy. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely stop by.

Nice and clean diner! Only been there for breakfast but love their double chocolate pancakes, with whipped cream and raspberry sauce! Yummy!

The best diner in the Lehigh valley. Awesome breakfast. I have only been there for breakfast. Nice positive atmosphere and very nice staff.

Breakfast breakfast breakfast!! Real chocolate milk! Little crowded on the weekends, try and miss the church crowd if you can. Breakfast combos that allow you the opportunity to have multiple items in one breakfast. Ie.. fresh from the farm. Comes with eggs and sos! Lastly and most important every breakfast comes as it should with home fries and toast. Unlike those chain places or the diner on the corner of chestnut and rt29. Shame on you for not including home fries with your breakfast.

"Home Town" is the best word for this place. It's definitely a home away from home where my wife and I take our family for Sunday breakfasts or late dinners. Staff is friendly and food is good.

We've been coming here for years. Excellent service. Friendly staff. Great food. Worth the wait if there is a line on weekends.

First time here. Good breakfast selection. Quick friendly service. Both of us got one of the casseroles. Couldn't finish mine due to the over abundance of onions. That is all I could taste. I will be back to try again. Before I got the onion taste it was very good. Different selections than most diners.

Liver, onions, bacon, mashed potatoes! Let's go! My family and I enjoy this diner for a family breakfast or dinner. The food is hot and delicious. From sandwiches to omelets and home cooked entrees, they have a wide variety of options. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

I've had a number of good experiences here since my first posting. I enjoy the Home Town for a low key dinner usually. I like the burgers, their broccoli, and the good service.

I'm close, I like a simple breakfast. Eggs, toast, hashbrowns will run you 5.49 every weekday. Weekends its 4.99. Open at 6am, its a great place for me to start long days. Service was great, again. My favorite local spot.

This is one of my favorite eating places. As senior citizens my wife & I enjoy the senior specials. Great value for the money. We enjoy going for a late Bkfst after church on Sundays where we usually meet many of our friends who do the same. Very warm & cozy in the winter. Waitstaff & mgr is always professional & cheerful. An added bonus is that you can call ahead for a reservation and not have to wait in the long lines. They do everything right. Hint....next time you're there order their delicious steamed broccoli, you won't be disappointed....best in town.

Stopped Friday for later lunch at 1:30 PM for quick bite on way home to CT. Perused their lunch specials, nothing lite of interest, but preferred a chicken salad sandwich with cup of soup and a diet coke. Soup of the day was New England clam chowder. Came quickly, but was the worst I have ever tasted. Heavy flour and extremely thick with very few clam pieces and no clam taste. Chicken salad sandwich was on very dry whole wheat (stale?) and very little chicken salad. With diet coke, bill was over $12.00 without tip, which was quite high for a diner, or most anywhere.

Good food Good service. Great deserts. Try the chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. Delicious!!!!

Pretty good as far as diners go. Less of the instant food & more of the home made. Love their yankee pot roast over egg noodles. With meals they give you warm bread with apple cinnamon butter. Good stuff. Mostly an older clientelle here so you will need to use the salt shaker & wait on line if you come late Sunday morning!

ahhhh diner food. Home Town does it so well. My family and I went there yesterday for breakfast and left very pleased. The prices are cheap and the portions are big! Our server was very kind and the manager was such a sweet gentleman. I had the fiesta omelette. They offer many healthy upgrades such as wheat toast and egg whites or egg beaters, which made me a very happy girl. Can't wait to go back and try lunch/dinner!

Consistently one of the best diners I've ever eaten at, if you can even call it a diner. Although it has the look and feel of a diner, this is not your typical roadside greasy spoon. I've eaten breakfast out more than at my own kitchen table and I was a morning line-cook as well, so I know a thing or two about breakfast and diners. The scrambled eggs and omelets are fluffy, the homefries are awesome and the blueberry pancakes-fuhgetahboutit!. So much is fresh and homemade and what isn't is very high quality. It can get crowded in the mornings, esp. on weekends so prepared for a short (worthwhile) wait. Also, if your coming from Allentown, there's a barrier on the highway that prevents left turns into their parking lot, so you have to go to the next light, turn left and double back about a mile through the village of Breinigsville but it's a minor inconvenience.

Just happened to stumble on this place and we were very satisfied. We had both breakfast and lunch food. Service was great and food equally great!

The Home Town Diner is a great little place to come for breakfast on the weekend. They are cheap and delicious, especially their specials that include pancakes with interesting toppings. Have never been disappointed with breakfast! Lunch and Dinner on the other hand I was not a fan of. On the couple of occasions I came for Lunch/Dinner I was not impressed at all. Their meat lasagna had peas and carrots in it, which was NOT what I had expected and totally turned me off. My advise is to only come for their breakfast!

Upon entering the restaurant my friends and I got taken to a table. About 20 minutes later I got up to go to the bathroom and the workers realized I didn't have shoes on, nor did one of my friends. We were asked to get shoes because the owner said it was against health code, which we did. Upon entering the Hometown diner again, I stopped and talked to the host and asked him to have the owner(s) come to my table so I could sincerely apologize for breaking health code in their restaurant. He never showed up. Yes this is my first time here, but when running a business you should treat every customer the same. Disappointed I didn't get to apologize. I'm not saying I won't ever return, maybe I will and ask to meet the owner(s) again, maybe they'll show up. The food was good for a diner. Asked for my burger med-rare and it came out med-well, not a big deal. Great service by the long haired brunette, never got her name though.

Great family owned diner. Well prepared and served breakfast. Food was delivered hot and plentiful. The Lumberjack was great for the hungry. The bathroom was spotless. My new dining location when traveling by Allentown. I would highly recommend this diner.

My spouse and I love to go here when we find ourselves near Trexlertown. We have been to this place approx 15 times in three years and each time the food has been consistently good with sizable portions. This place seems to be a huge hit with the senior citizen crowd as we see hoards of retirees eating in here each time we're there. This is basic diner food served with a smile.

Always enjoy going to Home Town Diner. Fair prices and probably the best diner around. I've never had a bad experience here.

Best local diner ever!! Great food and service! We visit at least once a week and love it. Soups are so delicious, especially their stuffed pepper soup and their vegetable barley. Yum!

This place is packed all the time. I guess people like toasted cheese sandwiches that much. The food here is disgusting. Broccoli soup with mexican sauce and cheese. Cream dried beef with no beef and all flour. Terrible spread of some sort on toast. Lard I think. Just gross stuff. And a picture of Bush on the wall says it all. Coffee so old. Gross. This place is for hoakey.. A very old clientelle that cannot tell. And when you metion that something is cold, awful etc. they take it real bad and do not try to fix it. Should have demolished it with the highway. Another person told to try the Willows not far from here. OMG. Just as disgusting. I mean time to close down bad.............................

Quality of food has always been excellent and the service is good. Basically diner food but better than average with big portions. Had the oyster pie tonight and it was very good!

My hubby & I stopped here on our way back from the Stoudt's Brewery for an early dinner. Hubby had the ground sirloin steak w/ mashed taters & gravy & I had the broiled haddock w/ steamed broccoli. Yum! My hubby's ground sirloin was very beefy (no fillers) & a bit charred around the edges (oh yeah!) & the mashed taters were from scratch. It was very good. My haddock had this wonderful rosemary flavor & was nice & flaky. My steamed broccoli was cooked perfectly. The broccoli was fresh, not frozen, & nicely seasoned. The place was relatively clean & the staff was very friendly. We will definitely stop here again!

Wonderful diner. Very generous platters. Simple, comfort food done well! Our party ordered omelets, home fries, sausages, and a stack of incredible pumpkin pancakes. All delicious! Good fresh coffee was always offered during our meal. Our waitress was attentive and polite. Will make a point of stopping there again, the next time we are in the area. This diner beats any fast food chain.

Worst reuben I've ever had. Came out a big, gloppy mess that could hardly be picked up. First bite was of very fatty corned beef -- couldn't eat any more. Mentioned the fat meat to the waitress and she told me that's a common complaint. Still ended up having to pay for the sandwich

There are diners..and there are diners...The Hometown Diner is great because it has great food, excellent service and is small enough to have a home town atmosphere..which is so often lacking in larger diners. The location is good too..right off the Route 222 bypass only a few short miles from Allentown.

This is one great diner. I've probably eaten here 30 times, and I've never been disappointed. The food has always been great and the waitresses are usually very friendly. They have some great lunch specials. For around $7-$8 you can get a three course lunch. Meaning you get soup, an entree like a pesto chicken sandwich or a chef salad, and pudding or ice cream for dessert. The only cons are that since it's such a popular place, the the service can get slow sometimes. There usually isn't a wait for a table during the week though. It does get clogged up with senior citizens. It can be fun to watch them almost drive into each other in the parking lot.

I was coming home from a date once around 5am and I stopped here for Breakfast. I had French toast which was just fine and coffee. Not exactly a complicated meal.

Home Town Diner was great. Decided to stop while driving with my family and we were not disappointed. The food was very good and the prices were reasonable. We are from New Jersey, so there are high expectations for diners. Service was good and attentive. If we are driving that way again, we will certainly stop by. Be prepared, though, unlike most Jersey diners, they don't serve breakfast all day long.

I had heard of all the rave about this place, decided to give it a try on Sunday morning for breakfast. Great disappointment!!!!! I gave it three stars because of the great atmosphere. Service was slow, not kid friendly( no kids menu). Saw great pics of the granola French toast! My taste buds were buzzing in anticipation. Only to find out it was only a huge piece of bread , loads of syrup and a sprinkle of granola with strawberries for garnish! Wished this experience would have been better, so that I too could have recommended this place to friends n neighbors. Instead my kids and hubby are still giving me grief on this pick!! Lol

I was meeting up with some friends for brunch and we talked about hitting up a diner, and this was close to where I was staying. This was a really nice diner, though! Tons of seating, and very clean. They offered us breakfast or lunch menus when we came in and we definitely wanted breakfast. However, some people around us were eating lunch food and it all looked awesome! Breakfast ranges from traditional meat + eggs + toast to some awesome creations in omelette and casserole form. The casseroles were more of what I would typically call a skillet. I got the sausage Benedict and it was delish. I also tried a casserole that had chipotle hollandaise sauce on it and ... YUM. Everything was great, and I really appreciated the creativity brought to diner breakfast.

Really good food, friendly service. Staying at Bear Creek resort for a few days and wanted to grab a late breakfast. Classic diner food with a funky twist. Wife had breakfast, I had the croquettes.

I had the Eggs Benedict here a couple of days ago and I was surprised at how good the quality was and how tasty the Eggs Benedict was. This is truly a home town place, I would love if we had something like this near where I live - although I'd probably gain 10 lbs if there was. I liked the homefries, I just wish it was a little more seasoned, the crispy bits are my favorite. The coffee was pretty darn good for drip, and for the price, there is no reason not to stop here and have a meal. It was relaxing and I will probably be back again as soon as I can.
