I didn't have any illusions about this sushi place going in. So let's start with the good- tons of atmosphere, totally divey as described, outside seating was nice until it started drizzling aggressively and there was no umbrella at our table. The server was terrific, very friendly enthusiastic, and knowledgeable but clearly running off his feet working the full inside seating area and the outside. The house made ginger dressing is possibly the best I've ever had. My friend and I shared the crab wontons and they were 90% cream cheese, fried. Just bleh. We each ordered two rolls, mine came out after 25 minutes, hers after 35 minutes. The fish itself was ok, really seemed like if you didn't order something spicy the flavor was lacking. We asked for a reference for dessert and got one but alas that was worse than the dinner had been. If I go back, I'll sit at the bar inside to get quicker service and order sashimi. And bring my own dessert.

Best sushi ever. Homemade noodle bowls, rolls with fritos, best homemade carrot ginger dressing, and the Vegas roll. BYOB. A local favorite place , and Yuri, the host with the most makes it all fun. Don't miss it.

My excitement to eat here quickly subsided when I walked inside. The decor was boring and felt much more like a fish n chips place than a sushi restaurant. The music playing reminded me of high school circa 1999 - and the cool dude behind the counter singing along paid us no mind. Some time after ordering a scruffy guy appeared from no where, said nothing, didn't look up, slapped some rolls together and handed them to us. I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED. It felt like zero of the people working gave any f**ks about our presence. It's really hard to pay that kind of money when you feel like you're invisible to the crew. Especially when you're THE ONLY CUSTOMERS! (lol) I absolutely hate mayonnaise. In the last ten years I've found many more sushi restaurants use crab salad with mayo now, instead of lump crabmeat. I scowered the menu carefully for rolls without mayo and ordered accordingly - unfortunately they both had mayonnaise when they came out. I tried to eat it, but there wasn't just a bit of mayo to hold it together, there was A LOT of mayo. Sigh. With the staff's demeanor I decided I'd rather just bounce and never come back, instead of asking them to make it again. My date and I walked down the street to the Brew Works and had a much better atmosphere and food/drinks. Bummer, I was so stoked after all the press this place has gotten, I'm new to town and really need a go-to sushi place. This won't be it.

Yum. Very good, very fresh. Had some different choices, which I appreciated. Knowledgeable server.

My family and I love this place. The staff is so pleasant and the food is amazing. I recommend this place to everyone. The only issue is the lack of seating but it's worth the wait if you have to wait.

Best sushi in the Lehigh Valley. Very glad We found this place. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Byob so they can focus on the food.

It was OK. I went with my boyfriend because we had a coupon, basically 15$ off our meal. The place was really cool looking, awesome music and it felt more like you were in a friendship with the people who worked there. It is very tiny, most of the seating near the sushi bar. It was cool to see the chef cook your meal. The employees are more of your friends, so they joke around, go on their phones and talk to each other constantly. They are very close to you all the time due to the small space. They were really friendly and going on a not busy night (right when the opened) service was good. The problems started with the fact it wasn't a typical eat in joint. You can see the chef cook right in front of you. It is definitely a place based on younger people. The music, the style and the food is all for the younger crowd except they close at an early hour. So this was very confusing, especially if you want to go out drinking or get food delivered at a later hour. The food was nothing to brag about, actually one of the worst sushi places I have eaten at in the valley. The only roll worth talking about was a half tuna half salmon deep fried roll which was fried well. The fish (in opinion) did not taste fresh, (maybe I went on a bad day?) We also shared a teriyaki chicken, watching the chef cook it was cool and veggies were yummy but the chicken was dry. He cooked it almost poaching the chicken causing it to dry out plus it wasn't on a sizzling platter which is the only time I ever been to a sushi place where that has happened. They don't have a large menu mostly sushi, a little over priced compared to the sushi places I've been to. It was cool to go just to check it out, listen to sweet music and enjoy the scenery but nothing I would go out of my way for, especially if I didn't have a coupon. I do recommend to try it to base your own opinion! Just make sure to go early, or maybe get delivery especially if you have more than two people going (They only have one large table).

I've been here several times and absolutely love it! Recently I tried their ramen, which was amazing!!!! I went with a picky friend, they are more than accommodating and will remove/add to your preference..... I really can't say enough great things about them.... Only down side is that it's a small place so if you're going with a large party you want to call ahead and reserve the front table!!! My favorite's are the ramen, spicy tuna, and amore rolls. It is a BYOB. Enjoy!

A sushi roll with Fritos called 'Drunk on Tuesday'?? Very eccentric, cool hole in the wall. That kind of says it all. Easy parking (street and a lot next door), but as many have said, a super SUPER tight space. We were lucky to get three seats together at the bar on a Friday night. There is one round table at the front...seats about 6. Downfall to the only large table? You're sitting directly at the front door so on a chilly night like tonight, brrrr! The other seating consists of about 4 two-tops lined against the wall directly behind the bar. So sitting at the bar or table, you will be bumped throughout your meal by the servers who are going back and forth through the right 'aisle.' It's literally about 1.5 feet between the backs of anyone seated at the bar and those sitting at the tables. No secret conversations happening here! None of the tightness bothered us though. It is a dive kind of joint. But it's also an experience. To sit at the bar and watch the sushi chef roll his rolls was quite entertaining and a bit educational. Every order was made fresh. As someone who works in food service from time to time, I had a few questions about following code ... But let's leave it at that. Nothing was so bad as to stop me from enjoying the delicious rolls we were served. Our server, Uri, was super. Not much more to say! The young kid who was texting when he should have been getting a table their wine glasses needs to go. The space is way too small to not do your job responsibly. Definitely a cool place to hang with friends, go on a date and even take your 'mature' kids. Our 7-yr-old loves sushi and had a blast at the bar. Not a place I'd bring a child who is younger than 5 though. Not super kid-friendly nor is there space for a high chair of any sort. Get your order for take out in that case. It will still be delicious!

Awesome this place was delicious and fantastic. It had that great hole in the wall ambiance and the sushi was really fresh. I also had a fantastic salad full of fresh veggies. I will definitely be a repeat Customer when I am in town. It's not exactly what you would expect on Bethlehem PA!

The sushi was pretty good but quite small portion sizes for the price. I got take-out, though I wish I had eaten in as the place seemed pretty cool inside. I don't think I'd come again as it wasn't good enough value--but we'll see how much I crave sushi, as it seems to be the best place in the heart of the town.

Going up a star thanks to the terrific udon soup I had tonight. Great value and a great meal. Shrimp, scallops, sweet mushrooms, one egg and loads of noodles and scallions made it a great dish. . I may not be ordering it this summer but it fit the bill on a chilly spring evening. Well done. Fresh tuna sashimi for an appetizer also hit the spot. The meat just melted in my mouth and had that clean, smooth taste we all love about ahi.

gaaaah love this place! Great food & staff!! Amaizng for a byo date night (or to catch some of the Flyer's game Matt with def have on). It's a bit tight (especially when you can utilize the outdoor tables) but you can call ahead to get an idea of how seating is. Def worth checking out! Get the Wayno/Wayne-O roll- you're welcome :)

a family member just moved to Bethlehem and I was told this place was awesome. I'm extremely picky with sushi because I work for a traditional japanese restaurant in NJ and they have the freshest fish ive ever had (i can taste the difference anywhere I go) and i must say, the other fish was AWESOME. i LOVED the little hole in the wall location, i did not mind the cramped space. i LOVED the music the owner had playing (smashing pumpkins etc) The rolls were excellent, the fish was very clearly fresh. the rolls themselves were creative and delicious. My father got a spicy seafood soup with noodles and it was fantastic, and i dont even like soups. my spicy tuna and tuna avocado rolls were delicious - and then I also ordered a spider roll which i was shockingly impressed with because not only was the soft shell crab excellent, they put fresh blue crab salad inside of the rolll. it added a delicious and original touch. my house salad had the best ginger dressing I've ever tasted and you could tell it was home made, and the wasabi dumplings were the only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars - We serve wasabi shumai at my restaurant as well and theyre bigger and much spicier, so I wasn't impressed. HOWEVER- that's the least important part of this meal. Sushi was DELICIOUS, service was warm and helpful, and i really did love the atmospphere. I will certainly be back.

These reviews are hilarious... Man, Bethlehem, y'all be trippin'. I live in California with sushi places closer to my house than I can spit watermelon seeds. Yeah, the sushi is cheaper and the floor plans are more open, but out here you can't find any place quite like The Other Fish. The staff is really fun to talk to, and Matt goes through some lengths to bring fresh fish to the valley - quite a feat when the shore is far away. Anyway, I wasn't too much of a roll person until I came here, but the rolls they put together here have turned me. The special at the time, the shogun roll, included shiitake mushrooms, which I'd never encountered in a roll before. Pretty delicious discovery. There's a ton of different rolls on the menu, and if you happen to dream something up they don't have down on paper, I'm pretty sure they could roll it up for you. Just don't get crazy. Or do, whatever. They might not serve alcohol, but there's nothing stopping you from getting drunk off your own! BYOB, eat some good food, and have fun. That's what it's really all about.

Cozy, delicious, and fun sushi joint in downtown Bethlehem. The staff really knows the menu and they are great at recommending new items for you. Matt, the owner, is extremely friendly and makes sure your experience is wonderful. Bring along a bottle (it's BYOB!) grab a seat at the bar, watch as your meal is being prepared in front of you, and have a few laughs with the conversation cards they provide. Tip: if you ask nicely you may even be able to score some fried Nutella wontons ;-)

Came here as a group of 6 and they were quick and accommodating. Very personable staff! Not much of a roll guy as I typically go for nigiri or chirashi as my go to to determine the quality of a sushi joint. Went for a few pieces of tuna and salmon nigiri as well as the special Ronzo roll. The sushi meshi was well seasoned and also had the right amount of moisture. The tuna and salmon nigiri was warmed to the correct temperature as well as being great quality. The Ronzo roll components were complimentary. Great experience and great food. I am so glad to have a casual sushi joint with high quality to satisfy my sushi jones. Definitely recommended!

Went in here with a big restaurant.com coupon for two people (needed to spend $100+) and it didn't disappoint. George W.'s review is spot on- you have to understand what this place isn't. If you try to get a pot of tea, they'll give you a mug with a steeper bag. It makes up for it with a fun staff, excellent chef, and quality food. It's a local gem for a good bite and a nice cut of sashimi. I only eat rolls once or twice a year but filled up on them here because they were so good. Go for it.

I agree with Eva. I'm from San Diego, and this is on par with a lot of the places back home. Sushi is super fresh, really delicious and well priced. They have good specials and if you go on Restaurant.com , you can get a good deal. Definitely a dive and very small, but clean and the staff is very friendly, knowledgable and easy-going. The coolest thing about this place is that you can make/adjust any roll you want. Most places have their set rolls/specials, but you can add/subtract anything you want. Reasonably priced for the Bethlehem area. Definitely give it a try, one of the best sushi places in the Lehigh Valley.

Fairly solid sushi place near downtown Bethlehem. I ordered a shrimp tempura roll and chicken katzu for lunch the other day. The katzu was pretty good - though a bit much for a lunch potion. Not sure if they distinguish between lunch and dinner portions since I haven't been there for dinner. I will have to say that I was disappointed that they didn't have a bento box option for lunch. Those are always my favorite. That's what I went in there with the intention of buying. I will go back there. Their food is solid, simple, and tasty. My body craves chicken katzu every now and then...and I can't stop thinking about it until that delicious panko breaded chicken hits my lips. MMMMMMMMM! NOT good for groups - they only have one large table up front...and the DON'T accept reservations. Kind of a pain. One of the reasons I won't go there for dinner since I live on the other side of town and getting a table wouldn't be a reliable feat.

I really love this place and I've been an avid customer since their origins at the Dancing Fish. Some of their rolls are the best I've ever had. I've used them for a number of different private parties and have had rave reviews from the guests. My only qualms are that it's a tad pricey and the restaurant is way too crammed (which I guess is part of its charm), so I usually do takeout when I crave the yuri roll! Also, their crab wontons are phenomenal!

  • Caitlin F.

Not impressed. I figured since this place was a 'hole in the wall' that the prices would be decent but its the same or maybe more expensive than most sushi places around here. I was charged $1.50 for extra spicy mayo which i have never had to pay for. I wasn't super impressed with the rolls. The rice was good and sushi tasted fresh but the rolls were on the small side and fell apart easily. Definitely not going back.

The Other Fish is definitely one of the best sushi options in the area. The small size is a downside, but personally I have never had to wait for a table. Their BYOB policy is also a positive. The owners are really informative if you have any questions regarding the sushi, and they are very understanding when it comes to substitutions: we ordered one of the sushi dinners and they happily substituted spicy tuna for the tuna roll. The sushi/sashimi is fresh, and their hand-rolls are creative and delicious. Also, their ginger dressing is excellent!

I have lived in Bethlehem for a while now and always wondered about this place... so today was the day that I got adventurous and took the leap of faith... I must say though it is a small place it and the staff were very down to earth, welcoming, and my style! A huge selection of rolls And if their unorthodox rolls don't satisfy your pallet than there's an option to create your own roll! To sweeten the deal if you live local... they deliver! I was very impressed and will be visiting again in the future!

Great, great sushi and the staff is always wonderful. Sad they are not open on Sundays or Mondays or before 5pm. But the food is worth the wait!

Impossible to give this place more than 3 stars, small doesn't begin to describe the location. There is only one table that seats more than 2 people and all the 2 person tables are along the path that the server goes back and forth on constantly, it's uncomfortably tight for anyone over 6 ft and 200 lbs. Plus the decor is very iffy, looks more like local dive bar than a sushi place. The food itself was ok, maybe 3 stars but I've had much much better sushi in other places in Bethlehem and the prices were definitely not consistent with the quality or decor. The service, excellent... really too bad the location is so odd and it's the only sushi place in downtown area. I'm sticking with Asia Bistro on the South Side and unfortunately taking a drive if wanting sushi on the North Side. It is BYOB, nice!

  • Bill B.

This place was average. The sashimi was average. It was definitely not high grade. It came out on a bed of lettuce...yes, lettuce. No rice at all. Had better at Wegmans. Service was very friendly and good. Very small and rundown even though some rundown looking places serve very good food. Even though there was only two of us the check came out with an automatic 18% gratuity... Very pathetic. This is the first and last time I will come here.

I have lived in Japan and I have returned there on numerous occasions. In fact, I was just there this month and I will be living there all summer. I say this because I feel qualified to review this sushi restaurant. I highly recommend this delightful sushi bar. I find the food to be very authentic in taste and I also appreciate the unique rolls on the menu. I wonder where else these scathing reviewers are dining out. Is there some amazing Japanese restaurant hidden in the Lehigh Valley that I am unaware of? I don't get a pretentious "indie" vibe when dining at The Other Fish. I've never seen the waitstaff be nothing but friendly. I also enjoy the conversion cards on the tables! Definitely make a stop to The Other Fish to try some tasty sushi!

  • Lauren B.

Wonderful BYOB with delicious sushi...We quickly became regulars when we lived in Bethlehem because the sushi was fresh and affordable. Unforunately, we moved out of the area, but nonetheless still crave the crab wantons and shamas roll! The mango salsa is absolutely fabulous. The restaurant itself is a bit small and will feel crowded, but if you love your company you will love this place!

I was invited here for a birthday, but was apprehensive because I've never liked sushi...before. This was so good! The sushi was super tasty and so was the Laurel salad.

  • Daniel H.

Completely unremarkable sushi at very high prices. I've had better sushi at Wegmans. Now, if their food was better than a supermarket chain's attempts at sushi, I wouldn't mind paying more for high quality. All I get from this place's menu is that it's a pretentious restaurant that tries to get away with charging more for "dining indie." Combine all this with a tiny, cramped, uncomfortable dining room and you've got a recipe for a big tab and little satisfaction. I haven't been back a second time so I don't know if they've improved or not. The staff seemed nice enough so I'm really confused as to what went wrong here. I want this place to be good but it just isn't. We need more good restaurants here in the Valley but this isn't one of them.

Been to Japan numerous times and know what authentic Japanese food tastes like. Been here a lot and the food tastes great. Very friendly service. The place is a little small and cramped, but that doesn't really bother me. Easily, my favorite Japanese place in the Lehigh Valley.

  • David R.

Wow! People actually enjoy this place. I can't imagine what other filth one must appreciate to be capable of enjoying a meal at The Other Fish. Most places merit a second chance based solely on presupposed good intentions, but not this time. No, I wouldn't return to this dump without a change of management, a remodel, and a new staff. The only redeeming aspect to my visit was the hostess/waitress who was kind enough to remove an order from our bill without having to be asked. I went to The Other Fish for sushi. If you don't advertise your sushi, I won't judge you on your sushi, but if you do, you had better make some good sushi. The Other Fish advertised sushi, so I had four rolls: Kill Bill, Spider, Yuki, and Fox. One of those was above average, the Kill Bill. The Fox and Yuki weren't worth their weight in rice, and the Spider roll... Well, that's the one that was taken off our bill. Why? Because it was the most ridiculous, awful, despicable attempt at sushi outside of the Congo. I think it had four ingredients in total: rice, seaweed, crab, and lettuce bitter enough to make you vomit. There's obviously a few missing elements, and one that I've never seen in sushi before, east or west coast, or overseas. This is all in spite of the grotesque prices, the unforgivably cramped space, and an unappetizing atmosphere. Why people in Bethlehem settle for this crap, I'll never know. There are better options--at least one. I've spoken in some hyperbole, yes, but I seriously discourage all from eating there. I'm sad it even exists.

The Other Fish was wonderful...surprisingly. We went for the first time and almost turned around and left when we entered the restaurant. Its small...and dark...and a little scary. But immediately the staff made us feel welcome and quelled all of our fears. We sat at the bar (Definitely a better choice than the tables). The sushi is amazing! AMAZING! Order the 'Wayno.' You will not be let down. We also loved that its BYO. We highly recommend it!

Other Fish is in a pretty good location - just blocks away from Main Street in downtown Bethlehem. Even though it's BYOB, there are many bars in walking distance that you can go to after dinner. Trendy ambiance in some ways, but dark, small and cramped - tends to cause long waits on Friday and Saturday nights. Their creativity really shines with the options available on their special roles menu. However, the spicy rolls at the Other Fish, though they were delicious, were prepped with a little too much water (they fell apart when I picked them up).

There are very few establishments in the Lehigh Valley as personal and as inviting as "The Other Fish," on E Broad Street in Bethlehem. Their food is well made, decently priced, and quick to your table. The staff help to make one of the most personal dining experiences I've ever had. Their seating is considered by some to be "cramped," but to me that just makes the dining experience more intimate, or more personal. It just helps to make this restaurant one of the most unique, and charming restaurants in the Lehigh Valley.

My fiance and I went here on a whim while we were downtown, and while sometimes this can be surprisingly pleasant, our food was anything but. I didn't mind so much that it was small, and I was very pleased at the friendly and personable people who serve there, but I just could not tolerate the food and the unclean atmosphere. Our rolls were very haphazardly put together and the ingredients did not taste fresh. I feel like maybe I could have done better with a home sushi kit. With prices that high, I don't feel like I'm wrong to ask that a bit more effort be put into the presentation and the quality of the sushi. My biggest issue, however, was the cleanliness factor. Once we were situated in our seats and made our order, we had time to look around the restaurant, and it doesn't make a good impression. There was garbage all over the kitchen counters, even before he started to make our food, and once our rolls were made, the chef opted to rest his head in his crossed arms and observe the customers up front instead of clean his work station. As much as I loved the amazing attitudes of the waitstaff, I honestly feel like we got lucky in not getting food poisoning from any of our raw selections.

  • Ben G.

The sushi is good and the prices are similar to other local restaurants. There are only 5 or 6 tables and most of them only seat two people. Its kind of a hole-in-the-wall place, with a different vibe than most sushi places.

  • Johanna B.

Sorry...other people who have reviewed this place are clueless if they think its bad...perhaps they only ever eat supermarket sushi. True, the place is not a palace or a formica/tile florescent NY style 'takeout'. It is a little cramped, yes. (I do love the chandeliers and funky ambience...) But the food ranks better relative to any other sushi in the Lehigh Valley...and is competitive with places in Philly and NYC. The staff is friendly and helpful. Try the seafood miso or any of the crunchy rolls. We eat there a lot, and have never had a bad experience. I repeat: Never. Ignore the clueless interviews and try this place. If you love great sushi, you will love the Other Fish...

  • George W.

It's important to understand what The Other Fish is and what it is not. It is, as another reviewer succinctly put it, "the dive bar of Bethlehem sushi." The food is great. The staff is friendly and the seating is tight. Real tight. The sushi is also a bit on the pricey side (but all good sushi should be if it's fresh.) The decor is what you would expect to find in a "sushi dive bar" (namely, some local type art on the walls, a few shelves haphazardly full of kitchen items). However, that's part of the charm of the place and they make no qualms about it. If you're expecting a roomy, five star quiet evening, you won't find it here. If you're expecting a very interesting meal, lots of talking going on and cramped space, then you've got it. Just be honest when you go and don't expect something that it isn't. The Other Fish is its own animal and it likes it that way.

This place is the dive bar of Bethlehem sushi. It's awesome but you got to be ready for it. The place is small and part of their outdoor seating is a picnic table falling apart in the parking lot. As I said, it's a dive but I dug it. I dug it all. Everything from the seemingly thrown together rolls to the heavily mustachioed waiter named Yuri. The place has a certain craziness that is appreciated in a place as tame as Bethlehem. Everyone at this joint is a character and the lax behavior is a welcome change from the harshness of typical sushi restaurants. The sushi is good. The fish was fresh and certainly as good as I imagine it gets so far inland. I'm not too big on rolls usually, as I like to focus on the flavor of the fish and not on the rice or the sauces or whatever, but the rolls here were nuts. Whoever created this menu is some sort of crazy and I like that. So, I broke out of my habit and ordered some rolls on top of my sushi and loved it. The menu is crazy but there is some method to the chef's madness and it pays off.

Alright, first things first - many of the negative reviews for this place are from a while ago. I assure you, any kinks that The Other Fish may have had were ironed out; eating at this restaurant is worth your time and money. The food here is great! I'll be the first to tell you that I'm no sushi snob, but I like to think I've eaten enough of the stuff to know a good roll when I eat it. Fish is fresh, tasty, and prepared with care. With such a varied menu, your most serious complaint about this place will be that you had trouble deciding what to order. There are a great deal of inventive rolls to try (order the Wayno - you'll thank me later) as well as the classic stuff if you aren't feeling very daring. The dining experience at the Other Fish isn't to be missed. Matt, Yuri and the rest of the congenial staff are endlessly friendly and work hard to make sure their customers are satisfied. The eclectic nature of the restaurant's décor (and the fact that they're BYOB) tends to bring in an equally interesting clientele - perfect for people-watching, if that's your bag (as it is mine). In addition, takeout & delivery are painless experiences, with a native English-speaker taking orders. A tip for folks intent on bringing a big group: I'd call ahead to make sure they can get the place ready to accommodate you. The restaurant's a bit small, so it may take a minute for them to get your table ready. Bottom line: eat here. Seriously.

I've been to many sushi places all over the east coast and Washington, and this place by far has the best sushi! It's a very small place, with only 3 or 4 tables and about 10 seats at the counter, but don't let it's hole-in-the-wall appearance fool you. Amazing sushi, amazing service.

Great sushi place in a sweet location. Always friendly staff, and if you sit at the bar you can watch all the action. Call ahead if you have a larger group and they will hold a spot. Also bring a bottle of wine or 6pack since it is BYOB.

I'm not sure why people are so harsh about this place. I'm from California, and lived in LA for a while, and I still think this is a good sushi joint! There are a couple rolls that I adore, including the Rainbow Roll and the Dragon Roll. However, they have a specialty roll that I've never had any where else, and it has this amazing sauce on it. If you're a sushi purist, you'll probably roll your eyes and give a big sigh, but if you're just a person who loves sushi and ALSO loves yummy tasting food, then you're not going to stop yourself from enjoying the "Wayno" roll.... it's super delicious and really spicy. It's a small little restaurant, so yeah, deal with it! They can't do anything about that, since they're limited with the space they have. They're fun and the food is fresh. I've eaten there more than any other place in Bethlehem, and with my sensitive tummy, I'm happy to say that I've never had any issues. I've tried a few other sushi restaurants in the Lehigh Valley and haven't been able to say the same. Next time you're in downtown Bethlehem and get a craving for sushi, Kittens, go to The Other Fish and try the Wayno! I dare you! Then let me know what you think...!!

I thought I would give them a second try and they are closed with a note on the door reading: "Closed due to personal problems" I don't know if this is temporary or permanent.

The place is tiny and so is everything else. The specialty rolls were very small, yet they are not cheap. The scallop shooter appetizer has one baby scallop in each shooter and was $8 for the four. The flavor was good except for one tempura roll which looked like it had been dipped in batter excessively leaving a half inch shell around the roll of fried stuff. I will not returning, there are better places.

A cool and cozy little place with some great vegetarian, no-fish, sushi roll options. Love the mochi for desert!

Amazing sushi...try the Zoe roll. Other entrees such as the kamikaze chicken are excellent as well. The ginger dressing on the salad is to die for. As said in previous posts, it won't win any design awards, but that's what I love about this place. Its unpretentious, laid back vibe is one of the reasons I keep coming back to the Other Fish. The staff, especially the mustachioed water, are always amazingly friendly. Also, you can't go wrong when it's BYOB.

Worse sushi ever, looks very unsanitary...

Yes, it's small and cramped. No, it's not going to win any decor awards. But, the food is excellent and the staff is comprised of a few fun characters. Those claiming the sushi is bad (not as good as Wegman's... come on!) obviously don't know good sushi from bad. Bring a couple Sapporo's (yes, BYOB), have a Seamus Roll and enjoy an unpretentious & tasty meal at a fair price. They do a nice job with take-out as well.

Great great sushi! They have very interesting things to try - I think I had The Mayor, Dino and several others - everything was excellent. It is BYOB so that is cool. Parking is super easy on street and they have a meter lot right next door. The only downfall is the size - it is very small inside. Oh yeah the white tuna is amazing if you have never had it....

This place makes the best sushi in the valley! The seaweed salad and dumplings are also to die for! Actually, I have never had something that I haven't loved from here. The miso soup and ginger salad are the best I've ever had as well! My favorite roll is the shamus roll, which is a roll on special some times (may be on the menu by now) Ask for it! its amazing! It is definitely a dive and small inside but worth the wait! and its byob!

Cant for the life of me figure out how any of you gave this place a bad review. All I can faqthom is that the bad reviews seem to be further back so perhaps there was a different chef or owners..... I however found this place to be great. It is small, yes, and it did get crowded but that did not slow down the two behind the counter. Matt, who does the apps and fried foods was polite and congenial even though he had no waitress to help him out. All the food prepared for us was great.... I am not one for sushi but all the rest of my group, all 6, ordered sushi and loved it. I had the shumya for my app, small pan fried pork dumplings. They were fantastic. The miso soup and salad that came out before the entree were also very good. I had a deep fried roll filled with shrimp cream cheese and jalapenos and i dipped it in their spicy sauce. Spicy and fantastic I loved every bite. Also loved my shrimp tempura entree. I was so insanely stuffed and so was everyone else but we all devored our meals and loved every bite. Will certainly be returning again.....

Atmosphere - Casual and relaxed (A lot of hipsters) Wait Staff - Friendly This quaint location has a large menu and numerous options to mix and match. While their menu is impressive their portions are not. The price per roll is what you would expect to find at a higher end location. This certainly wasn't and the portions were small. If you enjoy salty miso soup and extra sushi vinegar on your rolls this is the place for you. Sadly we left hungry and unsatisfied.

Found this place when working in Bethlehem in 2011. Went there for dinner regularly when I was back in the area in 2012. Definitely a hole in the wall but the food is really good. Owner lets you bring in beer or wine. Good food and a relaxed atmosphere. They also had delivery while I was there. Being from Austin, it was a good stand in for Uchi.

Amazing sushi and amazing service. This place is super small so I recommend calling ahead, but this little whole in the wall is so worth it. They have a great selection of fish and all types of rolls, including their own specials to choose from. It's BYOB and there's a store nearby to buy drinks if you didn't bring your own from home. What really made the place was the service! Our waiter was super chill and fun to talk with. However, if you're looking for a more traditional or upscale sushi restaurant experience, this place might not be for you.

I have been here only once and let me tell you I am itching to go back. While the place is small and a little cramped doesn't mean they can't put out great food and service. The service was phenomenal. The guy was super nice and comedic which made me feel more relaxed and welcomed to this little "hobbit house." (Granted I am 6'5" so it might seem smaller than it actually is). The feel and ambiance of the place was really laid back and had a nice older college type feel. Let's get to the food. Amazing, spectacular, fantastic. I ordered two sushi rolls whose names I cannot for the life of me remember. I believe one of them was the kill bill. They were rolled perfectly, great flavor and great portion sizes. Even though their menu is quite cumbersome, once you get the hang of how to peruse the menu it becomes quite simple. Their ingredients taste delightfully fresh and makes you want to face the fear of mercury poison by devouring as much sushi as possible. Two things that I truly love about this place is that it is byob friendly and its adaptable. They encourage you to bring in alcohol and have yourself a good time. The server even suggested a place two stores down if we wanted to grab some beers with our dinner. They also allow you to change and adapt any roll you want. So if you detest cream cheese on your sushi like I do, just request not to have it. Or be creative and crest you own rolls like I am tempted to do. Overall, this place is a jewel. With great food, friendly service, and welcoming atmosphere makes this sushi bar a place to become a regular at.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could! This is a very small, tight place, main seating is at the bar, there are some small tables for two and one larger table in front (maybe two), There are a few out door tables as well. Extremely friendy staff and the best sushi I have EVER had. Shrimp shumai was great. And, my favorite bonus... BYOB! You can order from the menu or customize as you like. I will definitely be back. The do have entrees as well.

I ate here last week while in town for work. Living in FL and frequently traveling domestically and internationally, I have had some amazing sushi and it takes a lot for me to rate a sushi place 5 stars; however, this place totally deserves it! First off...the ambiance of it being in a small space with the bar and a few small tables and it's older interior made me feel like I was in a sushi place I visited in Thailand. Secondly, the staff was great and very welcoming. Finally...the food. So delicious, so fresh. I had a salad topped with crab and my coworker has a salad that was filled with generous portions of veggies and avocado. The salads are big enough to split one. As for the sushi, I can't recall exactly which ones we ordered, but we had 5 different rolls (mix of cooked and raw) and each one was perfect. Service is quick and friendly. Prices are very reasonable. The only drawback is we found out it's BYOB after arriving there, which is totally fine...Thats not a thing in my state so I didn't even know that existed...now we know and can bring some sake next time! Can't wait to come here again on my next business trip!

FANTASTIC!! It's a tiny place, but the friendliness of the staff and quality of the food make up for the limited space/ if you have to wait a bit to get in. It's BYOB everything including soda. We try to get here as much as possible. WORTH EVERY PENNY. We almost don't want to tell everyone how cool this place it because that means more wait time to get in for us ha ha ha ha but we can't help ourselves- we tell everyone to go here because it's that good.
