The joint is the best coffee shop in the valley. I've tried several varieties and they have all been fresh and tasty. The staff is helpful and friendly and most importantly know about the different types of coffee they sell. The atmosphere is hip but understated. I highly recommend this little gem just off Broad St.

Coffee: pretty good Yogurt parfait: alright; nice choice of toppings Service: pretty terrible. So we stopped in on a Saturday morning- no line and the barista was very friendly and helpful. Then we had to wait 8 minutes for a black tea and 12 minutes for two yogurt parfaits. Would not have been so frustrating if the barista hadn't spent most of this time chatting with the one other customer who came in while we were waiting and basically just ignored preparing our order. If you are looking for a quick coffee stop this place is frustratingly slow. Would not stop again and would not recommend it. Very disappointing as I love blue sky and I know they are owned by the same folks but this place really missed the mark for me.

Coffee was delicious - I can only imagine the food would be great too. The most interesting part of the place was its artistic vibe: full of youth, humour and exuberance. Really cool - although I felt like a huge square, I still could appreciate it. Did I say the coffee was really tasty?

The latte was superb, despite limited flavors available,,,,a real mug would have been special for a drink consumed on site! The shop is cute, nicely designed and there the positives end,,,,,,no food available at a 2:30 pm stop, nothing at all in the cases,,,a wandering consumer came in asking for soup, nothing to be had,,,,,and the coffee maker had not a thing to say while making the coffees,,,,,,awkward if not unfriendly,,,,,this place has a looonnngggg way to go to compete with the shop just around the corner!!!That is,if you can find this place hidden away to start with!!!Good luck business owners,,,,,will not be coming back if I go with first impressions,,,,,

Nice selection of hot and cold coffee drinks and I like that they offer milk substitutes. Also have some homemade flavor shots which are good. They have a build your own yogurt with an array tasty of toppings.. Just wish they would offer an almond or dairy free yogurt but its not a deal breaker. The Bethlehem bars are a must try!! Service is friendly and helpful. I like to support local business so I'll keep going back!

Great place! My friends and I showed up hungover this morning and were greeted by friendly, accommodating, creative purveyors of coffee and delicious soups and sandwiches! I'm from NYC where most coffee places are stuck up and overpriced and I have to say that this place delivered in atmosphere, creative espresso beverages and personality. Will definitely be back the next time I'm visiting my friends!

I'm not the first to post about this obscure location, where strategically placed sandwich boards and signs point the way to a courtyard with essentially no street visibility. But The Joint still seems to get a pretty steady stream of customers on notoriously sluggish Sunday afternoons. Coffee is confidently delivered, with drip, pour-over and cold brew options as well as a variety of espresso possibilities. Seasonal soups are memorable, which is saying something in an era when salt passes for "seasoned". Bagels are standard, but priced appropriately. And the hipster staff isn't chatty but is certainly friendly--something I'd be hard-pressed to find in the urban jungles of Philly or NYC. At this point, The Joint wins the award for the most solid local coffeeshop in the Lehigh Valley. It doesn't rock the boat in terms of the overall package (no real surprises) but it's lively and welcoming. Only real gripes: pretty lacking in the plug outlets, so it's not great if your aging laptop needs its own cuppa java (like mine does). And the weekend hours are fairly limited, but this is a minor complaint when the hours here are still better than most local coffee shops in the Valley. Maybe The Joint's virtually hidden storefront is an added cachet and I'm just slow to catch on? It wouldn't be the first time....duh.

Awesome little joint!! No pun intended... still cleaning up a little from Musikfest. Coffee is delicious (still drinking it...) one the back area is set up I think it will be a cool place to come study. They have free Wi-Fi too!!

I love hunting for coffee whilst traveling. Undoubtedly, I will be awake before my fiancé and I will have that old urge that I need to satisfy. There has always been something about taking a walk outside on a cold morning for a cup of coffee. Eagerly, I search Yelp looking for nearby coffee places when I stay at a hotel and I set my sights on one in particular. This last time, the scene was Bethlehem and the target, The Joint. Luckily, I saw a sign pointing me into a courtyard because otherwise, I was going to declare my mission a failure and go back for substandard Hyatt coffee. It was there, tucked around a small bend where I found The Joint. Another reviewer described it as the type of place that plays Dinosaur Jr. I'm pretty sure that's exactly what was playing when I walked in. It's a very small coffee shop with only about 4 tables. For such a small space though, they really had some nice product offerings. When I asked what he had brewed, up, he mentioned three varieties (which is more than most larger more equipped coffee places) I was given samples of all 3 and since I was buying coffee for two, I clearly needed to know the lay of the land. I settled on a drip african light roast and a peruvian pour-over for myself. Mind you, he had about 8 varieties that I could have chosen from with pour-over. I followed his recommendation because he seemed really excited to brew it. That's what I look for in a coffee shop. The coffee was good. Heck, it was very good. It's not difficult to make great coffee, but when it's done right, it's really rewarding. I took the coffee to go and enjoyed my caffeinating experience while in the Christmas City. Honestly, I had no expectations at all for coffee and this one (The Joint) exceeded them.

Awesome coffee. Just wish that the seating was more. Definitely some of the best coffee in the Lehigh Valley, though. Customer service is excellent, too. The staff is always friendly.

Quick look: If you are looking for a good independant coffee shop where you can sit and read/chat with great coffee....this is it. Pros: great coffee, cozy relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, good cafe food. Price is good/inexpensive $. Size of sandwich/food offerings are great. Cons: limited seating, might be difficult to find (as in its not visually seen from the main road). Unsure: dont know if offers free wifi, not sure about the outlet situation if you needed to charge while you enjoy your coffee/eat. Ive been looking for a laid back coffee joint for some time now since moving to the east coast/this area. This will definitely be where i go on those rare days i get a morning/lunch off. Ill be back to try out a cappucino and probably the oatmeal or other deli offering.

They make their own syrups and chai tea! And they have almond milk for vegans! When the barista found out it was our first time she took the time to give us her recommendations and explain the homemade syrups. I got a strawberry almond milk latte (amazing) and my fiancée got an almond milk dirty chai (also awesome). Support Local coffee shops!!

Coffee really is the best in town. Cool, seasonal drinks. Dairy-free options and a very chill atmosphere. Staff is super friendly.

The only place in the Lehigh Valley that is committed to coffee as a craft. They offer a selection of African and Central/South American beans from Homestead Coffee Roasters in PA, and prepare it with the thoughtfulness of a typical third-wave cafe. The environment is eclectic and comfortable with a friendly and attentive staff. Food is fresh and about as good as could be expected for a small coffee shop. Only sore spot is their hours--they close at 5 most days which means I rarely get a chance to visit.

The Joint is one of my favorite spots in downtown Bethlehem. The staff is so friendly, the place has a cool vibe and there's always trendy music playing. I usually visit several times a week during lunch to grab a sandwich and coffee. They seem to feature about 4-5 different sandwiches each week and their marble rye bread is the best you'll find!

This place is great. It's tucked away in the Sun Inn courtyard and unless you're looking for it, you will not see it. But, they have an amazing selection of food. I only stopped in for coffee with a friend so I didn't get to try anything but I will be going back for sure. Staff is very knowledgable and can recommend the perfect kind if beverage if you tell them what you like. Also, for my lactose intolerant friends out there - they do have almond milk available and they have a fantastic chai latte that they will make with almond milk for you. The atmosphere is very relaxed, the music selection is excellent and we must have chilled there for about two hours. It's very small so the most comfortable you'll get is in a wooden bistro set but that's ok :) this is the gem of Bethlehem as far as coffee shops go.

I wouldn't compare this place to Starbucks, and I don't think the owners would either. This is a throwback to what Starbucks once was. Starbucks started as a locally roastery in Seattle, selling good fresh coffee in a welcoming atmosphere. Now Starbucks has become an massive retailer that is so inoffensive and impersonal it's stifling. When every painted wall and chair comes from the corporate cookie cutter, the best you can get is a cookie cutter conversation over your cookie cutter coffee. The Joint's a bit different. It's still youthful. The style is hip and modern and the music falls along the lines of Belle & Sebastian and Dinosaur Jr. The sandwiches on the menu are largely dependent on the ingredients that they've brought in that day. The owners will great you as if they known you forever. No one expects you to know about coffee, but I encourage you to ask about everything. The Joint is personal. Everyone working in that shop takes ownership of it in some way. They all put a little something in to make the place better, to make it succeed. Care goes in to it. The shop is crafted by artisans instead of plopped out of a conveyor belt. Let's not forget about why you came here in the first place: the coffee. The coffee is great. Every bag comes with it's roasted on date which generally falls within the last few weeks. This is big. Coffee freshness depends on time from roast, so if you want fresh coffee, this is the place for it. In case all that isn't incentive enough. The place is co-owned by the same people who run Blue Sky Cafe and Full of Crepe down on the South Side. I've been looking for a coffee shop like this for a while now, and I couldn't recommend this place more highly.

Just stopped by, food is "pre-prepared" but is very good, great quinoa salad. Definitely did a nice job with the place, need to settle in a little more it seems but on the right track. Worth a stop if looking for a sandwhich or salad or coffee in downtown Bethlehem! Another good deli right around the corner on Geutter if this place doesn't work for you...

I went here after a friend had told me it just opened up. If you've ever been to Horn's on the southside, this is it's Starbucks equivalent. All it's coffee, teas, yogurt, and sandwiches are made from locally grown ingredients. The staff, who I am assuming are the owners, are very friendly and did a good job showing me how they standout from the cafe crowd. My coffee was personally prepared in front of me using an interesting drip technique, and it tasted delicious. The sandwich I got for breakfast was also excellent. The pre-prepared food Shane O. seems to be talking about is their breakfast pastries, which I didn't try. It's worth checking out as an alternative to Starbucks, it's a little bit pricier, but the price seems justified.

Was in for the first time with friends the other day. It was freezing out, but the atmosphere at The Joint warmed me right up! Tom and Bill were both so sweet. My almond milk cappuccino was absolutely perfect and served in a giant colorful mug which made it even better. Our soup and sandwiches were also delicious and clearly made with care (and did I mention, vegan?? It's SO nice to find a place with that option). I will definitely be back whenever I'm in Bethlehem!

This is without a doubt, THE BEST COFFEE and SERVICE in downtown Bethlehem. I say this, because not only does the coffee taste great, but the owners select organic and toxin-free ingredients as much as can possibly be. I have a sensitive digestive system and often, other coffee places send me running. Not here. And my boyfriend who only likes lattes, says that their caramel mocha latte made with raw honey is the best he's had. The owners and workers are very personable and friendly, none of the snob & friends only attitudes or childishness that must be endured at the local Wise Bean. If you're feeling lonely or blue and need to socialize without the phoniness, this is the best place to stop. They really care. And the sandwiches are out of this world good and inexpensive to boot. Freshest ingredients and interesting combinations, which I'll update with a few examples later. The marble rye bread is so soft and thick, you will not find it anywhere else on the menu locally. I never feel hungry afterwards and often need to wrap the 2nd half. Whenever I'm hungry and dont' want to cook or am out of food, I wander over here and am treated right every time. Iced coffee can be extremely different from place to place, and so can my body's reaction to it. While I love McDonald's iced coffee and seem to do okay with it, I dislike Starbucks to the nth degree - yecch!. The Wise Bean's coffees always send me running to the toilet and they will not disclose what/where they buy their beans or how they make their coffee, which I find as a hostile attitude when you are explaining severe migraine reactions, which occur as well. I expect a small business to regard their customer health and be open about what they are giving you to put into your body. I love Dunkin Donuts, but it always gives me migraines as well.... The Joint makes an unusual cold brew iced coffee. It tastes wonderful and I get no bad reactions. Ask them about their brewing processes. They're always glad to talk to you here. They've recently backed their closing hours to 6 pm from 9 pm. I do hope that more people will try this shop and make it their usual go-to place for coffee AND sandwiches. You won't be disappointed and you can relax outside the door on the benches in that lovely courtyard behind the Sun Inn. (If you're unsure how to find the Joint, just head to the Sun Inn and walk back behind it!)

The place is well hidden, you literally have to leave the beaten path to find it. It's very small, but cozy. Cute decor and nice atmosphere. Staff was very friendly and informative. The tea was okay, but the veggie sandwich was delicious. However, overpriced for what you get.
