Here on business so I opted to eat in the bar. Served right away then the second bartender disappeared and the lone remaining got slammed at the service bar and ignored those seated at the bar. Not his fault to be solo during restaurant week. Once I said something he was attentive. Wanting a light meal I ordered small Caesar salad and the crab cake appetizer. Food came quickly. The salad was fine but the crab cakes completely lacked flavor and had too much filler. The sauce was also bland.

My first visit to Prime Steak House was great. I came for a very late evening dinner, and I was seated promptly when I arrived. My waitress was very attentive and checked up on me whether I needed anything else while my food arrived. I got the "escargot" as my appetizer, and it had an interesting taste. The escargot consisted of mushrooms, garlic butter, and parmesan cheese. Even though there was a lot of garlic butter and oil on the dish, it was good, but the garlic bread that came along with the escargot was a little hard to chew on. Prime Steak House was known for their signature prime rib, so I decided to order the "14 oz Signature Prime Rib," and it didn't disappoint. The medium rare steak was very soft and juicy with a lot of flavor. I am not a big fan of eating fat, and this steak had a decent amount of fat on it, however, I cannot complain since the flavor of the steak came from the fat itself. As for my side dishes, I got the seasoned rice along with a Caesar salad with ranch. My overall experience was great and I would come back again.

(This visit occurred in March so I may have forgotten a few things but the general vibe is correct.) It's hard to describe but some meals are just destined to be bad. You just get a feeling when you walk into a place and begin to interact with the staff that they just don't have their act together. Sadly for me, this was one of those times. * Made a reservation for an early Saturday dinner. Should be easy enough especially when the majority of the restaurant is empty. We check in and I point out to the hostess that we had made a reservation via Open Table. This should also be easy enough except of course when I get an email from Open Table the next day telling me that I was a no show and had to prove that I actually showed up. #Strike One * We were seated easy enough and the room that we're in had no one in it except for us and a birthday party with about eighteenish people. After waiting a good five to seven minutes a server comes over and takes our drink order while telling us that our server "is tied up with the other group in the room but that she'll be with you eventually". Another maybe another five minutes the same server comes by with bread, no drinks and we still have not met our server. Our server finally shows up with the drinks after a few more minutes which makes around fifteen from the time we initially ordered them. #Strike Two * Speaking of our server, she very clearly was annoyed to be waiting on us as we were diverting her attention from her big tip with the birthday party. I don't understand why we weren't put in another room or why someone else couldn't wait on us as again, the restaurant was not busy but the attitude she gave us was foul and didn't stop the whole time whereas we watched her turn into Miss Congeniality over at the birthday party table mere seconds after practically scowling at us. #Strike Three * As for the food, I don't remember what the lovely wife got so I will assume that it mustn't have been too awful or else I would remember it whereas I got the pork chops and I do indeed remember them. The menu describes them as hand cut, seasoned, perfectly grilled and with a brandy peppercorn sauce. What I got was unseasoned, mostly uncut fatty grizzle that required me cutting away over 1/3 of the chops and for a sauce I was given a small cup of cold brown gravy (Oh boy, spoil me!!). #I'm Out In retrospect I can't imagine a scenario that would bring me back to Prime again. Between the two people at the host stand marking me as not having checked in when no one else was there when we got to the restaurant, our server's pissy attitude to the fatty crap of a cut on the pork chops while being given a cup of cold gravy versus any kind of real sauce...it's just all too much to take. F-A-I-L No. Mas.

Worst meal ever. So I have always passed a few of these locations and finally decided to cave and try it out. Let's start with the seating, we made a reservation for dinner, but we're sat in the loud bar area. Fine, my friend wanted to catch the fight anyways so we dealt with the noise. Then we waited and waited and waited. The waitress finally showed up, and took our drink order. 2 beers, a martini and a knob fashion. 15 minutes and the drinks weren't ready, so we put our app orders in along with our dinner orders. Drinks showed up, the knob fashion was horrible. It contained no bourbon and completely watered down. Undrinkable, so we replaced it. Salads arrived and we were off to a good start. Table bread was delicious too. Now the apps are where things started to unravel. We ordered the mozzarella sticks and seafood sampler. Mozzarella sticks tasted like chicken because it was probably fried in the same oil and its a frozen product. The seafood sampler was awful, the calamari rings were tasteless and thin. The shrimp and scallops were fine, but anything wrapped in bacon is better. The entrees were..... Pathetic. So the Oscar Medallions were tiny (1.5 inches each) and the crab smelled fishy. The mash was good, but the asparagus was soggy. The Hawaiian chicken was horrible, it was only grilled on one side! It was never flipped. It tasted chemically and my friend was worried it was raw, so he ended up giving up on it. The surf and turf filet with lobster tail was even worse, the lobster tail was rubbery and couldn't be cut with a knife! Chefs and line cooks!! You have to immediately chill the lobster after you cook it, put it on ice! Now on to the Prime Rib, their famed dish they're named after. Flavorless. It's called salt and pepper! Use them! Dish was totally bland. I ordered it with a side of mushrooms which was actually the best part. The bill was a disappointing $200. Our waitress performed well and you could tell that she knew we didn't like the food since none of us got a to go box. She even apologized for the wait. I really expect more from this franchise that competes a market that caters to a premium steak lovers, I will never return. Finally, not trying to knock PA, but before coming here, we noticed that OpenTable gave it 4 out of 5 stars, this may be based on the palettes of the local area, so beware it may not be all that you had hoped for!

I ordered my steak rare. It was served well done. The side of mushrooms was unbearably salty, and I'm a salt addict. At least the salad bar was fresh. But I came here for steak. Nice atmosphere.

Outstanding meal, excellent service, our steaks were cooked exactly as we asked, the salad bar was fresh. We were very pleased!!!!! We will definitely be back and recommend to others!

Rib eye good, poor presentation. Strip just average on quality, presentation lackluster. As step up from a Sizzlers. Service was average... Nothing special .. Go elsewhere for better everything

NY Strip Steak was very good. Atmosphere was really nice, intimate. Loved Kenny G and Madonna on the radio haha. Overall I would recommend this place for date night, if you like steak that is.

Totally bland food. Baked potato was the best part of the meal. $27 filet tasted like something from a diner. Salad bar was a joke. Bread was even dry and bland. My wife had the 'best prime rib in the Lehigh valley' which was overcooked and dry. Clearly the staff has given up. No manager in sight, and no customers either. Empty at 745 on a Saturday night? We should have taken the hint.

Two visits in two weeks, and both were a-ok. Possibly a 4 star with more visits, as I only tried the blue filet at both visits. Basic salad bar is fine. Service was good. I will return.

Meh. It's exactly the same on the inside as Steak & Ale was decorated. The food is identical, but now slightly more expensive. Overrated, in my opinion.

  • Brian G.

The Prime menu is very similar to the Steak and Ale menu and it's excellent. My favorite is the hawaiian chicken. For around $15 you get two chicken breasts topped with pineapple, a vegetable, and the salad bar. Their salad bar is wonderful- you can almost make a meal out of the salad bar itself. I typically eat the salad bar and one chicken breast and take the other breast and the vegetable home in a doggie bag. You can't beat 2 meals for $15!

Salad bar very good. My wife's prime rib was way better than my very ordinary ribeye.

Tacky decor, terrible service, and the food was barely passable. Outback or longhorn are much better choices in the Valley.

I was incredibly disappointed by the food here. I'm not sure where they get their meat from, but it's pretty hard to screw up a steak done medium. It was tough as leather and over-seasoned. I love steak and couldn't get more than a few bites in. My wife had lobster that I think was actually made of some kind of edible rubber material. Perhaps some new industrial material made for the space program. On the bright side, the French Silk pie was good. Maybe they should become a bakery.

I've been visiting the Prime since shortly after they opened. It took about a year for the kitchen to fine tune their product but since then, the steak and seafood are usually delicious, and always dependable. The salad bar is great (from the old Steak & Ale at this location), and the seafood is surprising good (the jumbo lump crab cocktail, the bacon wrapped shrimp with lobster sauce, the crab cake entree - all great!). Their steaks specials - the prime rib and the NY strip steak dinners - are bargains! In general the appetizers and desserts are very good, and the bar offers friendly service and a good pour. I'm happy to have the Prime in the neighborhood!

Though there are some upgrades in appearance from when this was Steak & Ale I am perplexed as to why construction took so long as the "upgrades" are not that significant. Service was good, food was good though not great, and value for the price paid was below average. There are few options in the very immediate area, especially for lunch so Prime will attract a decent lunch crowd. For better value and food I would go a few miles down the road to downtown Bethlehem and choose from the myriad of available choices.

  • Robert S.

If you liked the Steak & Ale that was at this location for many years, you'll love Prime. They spruced up the decor considerably, but the menu is almost exactly the same as S&A. The steaks are a pretty good value for the money. Wine list has some reasonably priced bottles. Restaurant was packed on a Saturday night, but service was pretty good.

I have been to Prime on several occasions and always get the filet because it's consistently good; but since we went on Thanksgiving this time, I stayed in theme and ordered the "Thanksgiving Turkey Feast" for $19.99. This prix fixe menu included soup or salad, white meat turkey, mashed sweet potatoes, string beans, stuffing, whole cranberry sauce, and a choice of dessert. They also had a Prime Rib Feast and the normal full menu available. I opted for the salad bar. This includes the usual suspects- salad fixings, potato salad, etc. Everything was fresh and consistency being checked for fullness. The turkey breast meat slices were tender and juicy; although the gravy that was poured on top was too salty for my taste. The stuffing under the turkey was also a little salty. The mashed sweet potatoes were heavenly. Not too sweet and mashed perfectly. The cranberries were very good, as were the beans. I opted for the caramel chocolate cheesecake for dessert. As you would imagine, this was very rich, but amazing.

Great place to enjoy some good food. Service was excellent! Had a great dinner with the family. Everyone enjoyed it. I would defintely recommend this place to anyone nearby. We actually selected this place because of the reviews and the location.

My second time here, first for dinner... Great experience awesome waitress ! I had the filet medallions with side of broccoli and a side of asparagus with salad bar of course. Everything was amazing , great flavors and my steak was done perfectly . The wheat bread with honey butter was to die for. Our waitress was Stacy L, couldn't ask for a better more attentive waitress. Thanks for a great experience we will be back

Very good !! My wife and I went there on friday night around 7:30pm. Lots of cars in the lot, but we were seated right away. The waitress came to us very quickly for our drink orders. We were in a hurry so we both just got salad bar and the Prime burger. We hit the salad bar and it is one of the nicere ones you will ever come across. The salads are always very fresh and tasty. Our burgers came out quickly, they were accompanied by season potato wedges which were very good ! Our burgers were cooked exactly the way we wanted and tasted great. We were atually too full for dessert !! We have been to Prime many times and have always enjoyed the food and service.

REALLY Good food! I love this place! I've been here a few times for business lunches and plan on returning. They have the best steaks, especially the filet. I'm also a huge fan of the salad bar. The decor is pretty amazing, and I love the woodwork. Staff were friendly and service is always excellent.

I should have taken photos of everything I ate & drank. This place was wonderful. We had reservations for a party of 10 on Mother's Day at 2:30 in the afternoon. I was shocked when we arrived how full the parking lot was. All I kept thinking was "they lost our reservations" We walk into the restaurant and were all seated promptly by the hostess who was very nice, pleasant and told us to enjoy dinner. She waited until we sat down to give us the menus, which most places don't do that anymore.I had the strawberry muddle adult beverage and it was fantastic. The steak was amazing, and they brought out the kids meals first which was just awesome. The place was very busy, so please make reservations in advance.

made reservations. arrived early. had a drink at the bar. called for our table and bam they tried to seat us at a table at end of bar right in high traffic area. they seemed surprised when we asked for something else. back to bar to wait while we watch others get seated in the dining room. to their credit it was only another ten minutes but still how could they expect anyone to sit at that first table. the food was better than expected based on price. waitress was friendly and kept things moving not too fast not too slow. if not for table mix up would be four stars. will try it again

Awesome treat from my wife to celebrate my 44th ! Ambiance- Warm & Inviting..also dark & romantic too Cleanliness- Clean Service- Amazing Our waiter offered me a free Beer ( But I don't drink beer) or free dessert for my b-day, bless him he thought I was only celebrating 25 years ! (Makes me look forward to turning 50) The Meal~ Jess said I could get whatever I wanted..so drink wise I started with a perfectly made yummy chocolate Martini with an edible straw compliments to the Bartender. A scrumptious fresh salad bar and for Dinner I had the 6 oz Filet Mignon (smallest steak in house) with Lobster Tail. My steak was cooked a perfect medium, but the lobster although good was a tiny bit over cooked. Baked Potato with Butter & Sour Cream. Iced tea to drink. Jess had the crab stuffed shrimp, with Plain Baked Sweet Potato & Salad Bar. Iced tea to drink. We both passed on the bread before the meal. We shared the not so decadent chocolate Derby pie for dessert. Not only was my martini free but so was the dessert. We will definitely hit this joint up again sometime when the steak bug calls my name !

Ribeye steak was dry, not medium rare as requested, and no seasoning on it at all. Prime rib was a little better, but would have made a big difference if there were seasoning ... so bland. Burgundy mushrooms were horrible! They had a strange almost chemical taste. When waitress (who was awesome and patient) noticed my displeasure she sent a young girl (assistant manager) over who was not skilled at all in handling unhappy guests. Very abrupt little girl. We had already sent the appetizer back because the crab stuffed mushrooms were SMOTHERED (overwhelmed) In melted cheese. So I was feeling sheepish about the steak complaint. She loudly blurted out, "well, should I take the steak back???" I told her no just to have her go away. Went to Prime to have a big salad and steak. They do have a great salad bar. Other food is lacking, under seasoned ... And get a full bottle of wine to share. $9 for half a small glass is pathetic. Really bad experience.

Well this is the 2nd time my boyfriend and I have visited Prime. On the first visit which I have the the place 5 stars for amazing service and food. This time however I am not sure they even deserve the 2 stars but the food was as good as the first time. The service was below par - we were sat in the bar area apparently it was happy hour and the loud bar noise area not appreciated at all. We were not asked prior to being sat in this non-dinner atmosphere. The waitress it was it the bartender not sure since she was both came to get our drink orders 15 minutes after sitting down. It then took another 10 minutes to receive our drinks. After we ordered we sat for 20 minutes post appetizer waiting for entrees. Drinks were never refilled. Given a desert menu and then left to ponder for 15 minutes. By this time we figured screw desert we can go get desert elsewhere. However as I sit here in the restaurant still writing my review we have yet to receive a check. On the up side steaks were cooked amazingly and to a perfect medium rare - will we return - probably not - it's a true shame that the service was this poor

Overall a good experience. Service was okay, we had a fairly new waiter. My filet was a little fatty, but cooked as ordered. I think it is the standard for a steak house. Nothing great (besides some of the presentation) stood out.

  • Michelle D.

I had the New York strip with crab stuffed shrimp and mashed potatoes. It was very good and the waitress made sure my steak was in fact "medium" and to perfection. The calamari was decent. I also enjoyed the patron margaritas but next time I will have it on the rocks. I can't wait to go back to try the ribeye or porterhouse.

Very good steak and lobster. Very pricey though. But isn't everywhere that has surf and turf? I thought it would be bigger inside. Also, a bit chilly. They should turn the heat up a little.

  • Da S.

Went for lunch. Had calamari as an app and steak skewers as an entree. Everything was prepared well, and I enjoyed the taste. Waitress was friendly. I layout of the place is bizarre, but charming. Although the salad bar behind the hostess desk was a bit odd.

Prime is overall... ok. Unfortunately, it reminded me very much of a chain. I started with a salad which was mediocre, shared the crab and spinach dip that was overall pretty good but every now and then I would get a strange taste, almost like when something has been frozen and than defrosted. My guess was that it was the bread bowl. Anyway.. I got the prime rib which was cooked perfectly. It wasn't as flavorful as I generally like my prime rib. It also came with au jus and garlic mashed potatoes. Both were flavorless. My boyfriend got the cowboy steak which was PRIME's ribeye special for the night. Cooked perfectly but again... just MEH. I ended up spending what I would have spent at outback (with tip 86$) and honestly, outback probably would have been better. I prefer an outstanding experience when I go out to eat. Something that doesn't make me feel like I could replicate at home or with a chain restaurant and PRIME just didn't hit this mark for me.

We tried this out for my birthday dinner. The food was good, we had stuffed mushrooms, salad, husband and I had sirloin he had crab cake which was to die for and I got shrimp scampi which was below average. My daughters loved the salad bar, burger and kids pizza. Dessert was good, carrot cake and brownie with ice cream. The reason I gave a 4 star rating is the service was kind of sucky, she was not very personable, didn't check on us while eating and didn't introduce herself, tell us specials or try up selling to us. Food was good though and it would be worth going back!

Good food & service + affordable prices. You're not paying for the very best & therefore you don't get it here. But, it's not bad at all... certainly not as bad as some have made it out to be in prior reviews. Nothing wrong with some mid level options in the Bethlehem area that do their thing well & keep prices reasonable. Relaxed/casual vibe, good service.

We went here the other night for a birthday dinner for my boyfriend's father. Steakhouses are generally pretty safe picks and I'd categorize Prime as a "safe pick" - nothing frilly, a pretty standard steakhouse menu, convenient parking/location, and a low-key atmosphere. It's not a standard steakhouse you'd find in an urban area, it's more of a moderately priced American grill and bar. A couple steps above Applebee's, a mile ahead of Gregory's, and certainly below Ruth's Chris. The menu is standard - your standard steak cuts, prime rib, seafood selections, and a handful of pastas and limited selection of salads. You can add a salad bar to your meal which was, at best, your standard salad bar. I'm using the word standard a lot here. The pricing is reasonable - about $15-$22 for an entree. I had the Prime salmon with a baked sweet potato and salad bar. The salmon was cooked nicely and the potato was just right. There was a red pepper specialty sauce on the salmon that I'd recommend skipping - get it grilled dry or with butter only. The salad bar was, well, salad. Nothing really stood out there. The other entrees at our table could be described in similar fashion. Good food, but nothing of stand-out quality. Portions are reasonable, nothing was drowning in sauce, etc. Our waitress was trying. I want to give her that credit. There was a large table next to us with a lot of demands and I think that was frying her out. The wait staff as a whole, though, seemed very young and a bit standoffish. There was a professionalism or flair that was missing. The attitude was a little too "whaddya want with that" diner style instead of a little more refined nature of a nicer, non-chain, mid-range steakhouse. But okay, I'm getting picky there. I don't know that I'd choose this for a special event. It's mid-range, affordable fare. You won't find local specialties, craft brews, or unique chef's specials. You'll find steak, potatoes, and a salad bar. If that's what you're looking for, Prime fits the bill.

My wife and I arrived at Prime on Tuesday at 7:00PM and surprised to see parking lot full. Worried because we did not have reservations. As we entered the hostess greeted us in a very friendly greeting. I apologized for not having a reservation. She said no problem and seated us immediately. Our waitress greeted us (Amanda) and took our drink orders. Our drinks arrived in less then 5 mins. She offered us the specials and some suggestions. We placed our appetizers and dinner and our service was timed perfect. Amanda did all this while tending to a large party, about 25, with a smile and perfect service. We thought the food was excellent. Our appetizer was fried calamari. My wife had shrimp scampi and I have a filet and lobster. Everything was cooked as ordered, hot and delicious. The value of the meal for the price was outstanding. We will be back.

Over all a good dinner. The steak was tender and came out the way I ordered it. The salad bar was fine with everything I chose being fresh. The Vegitables were over cooked and not that great. I would eat here again.

We went here on an invitation from another family. I was very hesitant due to all the poor reviews. I had salmon which was overcooked and my wife's pasta was also overcooked. The waitress was nice and professional. This won't be on my top ten list and we won't be going back.
