Authentic Mexican food priced very reasonable. Small family run business, very good customer service. Was pleased with everything and will def come back for takeout.

Food was good, didn't taste as authentic as most reviews posted. The portions were small, we all left still hungry. The service was good and the time we waited was not long. I'd return again, but I'd order something else other than the steak. (Very small)

I love this place. Great flavors and the different hot sauces are the best. The chorizo tacos and cheese gorditas are my favorite dishes there. The best part I live close enough to walk there. I heard the pork tortas are great as well.

Favorite mexican food in lehigh valley (so far). Had the tacos and a chicken gordita. Love places where you can try several different items. Had the chicken tinga, carnitas, and chorizo in the tacos. Everything tasted fresh and excellent. Will be back. Very inexpensive so no reason to avoid giving this place a try. Love when you have a selection of sauces, in this case salsas.

This was our first experience with El Paisano, and it was fantastic!!!! The food is fresh, spot-on authentic, and absolutely delicious!!! The staff is friendly and welcoming- made me feel super comfortable, even though I've never been there before. We tried the tacos (marinated pork, chicken, steak), tostadas (same 3 ways), steak gordita, chicken quesadillas, and rice and beans (Wanted to try a little of everything- all that for only $32 bucks!!). All of the ingredients tasted so fresh and clean- I could tell that they use quality ingredients and they they really care about the food they make. The tortillas are all homemade- and you can tell bc they are AMAZING. The homemade guacamole and the sour cream (homemade as well?) were fantastic!! Oh, and this was takeout (we live about 5 mins away) and the quality of the food did NOT suffer one bit from being boxed up. We're going to eat in next time, bc the interior is adorable. (Note for takeout: If you live further away, I'd suggest eating in, bc I'd imagine that the crispiness of the tortillas could suffer, depending on what you get.). They are also BYOB, so I'm already looking forward to beers and tacos there in the near future. They have their own parking lot, so it was super convenient to stop in. (That spot on Union doesn't have the best parking options). They also have those delicious, refreshing Mexican sodas - pineapple, mandarin, etc. No high fructose corn syrup in those babies! Haha!! I regret that we haven't tried this place sooner, bc we've been missing out!!! Do yourself a favor and eat here STAT. Support this wonderful local business. This is the best, authentic Mexican food in the area!! You will not be disappointed.

Nestled in a very unassuming locality in Bethlehem, El Paisano represents Mexican cuisine with authenticity, warmth and a good depth of flavors. They serve the usual Mexican fares, tacos, sopes, Burritos, Enchiladas etc along with a few additions of their own. Their meat is well cooked, but does lack in flavor. Where they lack in flavor of meat and sauces, they make it up with their homemade sauces. Their home made hot sauce is absolutely sensational. I wish they would sell them! So just add on their sauce if the flavor seems blandish. Very authentic food and good portion sizes. Their tacos remind me of Mexico, with a mild hint of pineapple which is a common trademark of tacos in mexico. I love their pork cooked in a spicy red sauce (I apologize for forgetting the name). That with a splash of their sauce is just dynamite. Their gorditas are also delicious. Good depth of flavors and very fresh. Worth trying? Absolutely!

I grew up in Los Angeles where the Mexican food is awesome. I never thought I would find a place even close here in the Valley, but once again, I find that I am wrong. This place is soooo good! If you want real authentic Mexican food, go here. They keep it simple and delicious. I got enchiladas here and was not disappointed. Try something other than On the Border for once people! This place rocks!

Doesn't look like much from the outside (or the inside for that matter) but the food and service are excellent. My meal was $9 and came with chille relleno, salad, tortilla rice and beans in addition to free chips and salsa. The food was delicious and authentic and it came out in less than 5 minutes. The young woman working there was really nice and checked on me often. If I lived around here, this would be a regular spot. Definitely recommend!

Authentic Mexican food that was delicious. Small little place nothing fancy but the food spoke for itself. Would definitely go again or take out. I just wish the air conditioning was working when we were there. Maybe that just added to the ambiance. I also want to take their queso hot sauce home with me.

I love this little gem! Ambiance is taco joint and the food is authentic, delicious and the portions are huge! The chips are warm and you must try their home made hot sauces.

I'm bummed. I really wanted to love this place. It's not bad, hence the three star review, but the food was not what I was hoping for. The restaurant is small and humble, perfect for a great taco joint, and the staff is friendly enough. I had tacos (steak and pork). They're served the way I like classic street tacos: on two corn tortillas with onion, cilantro and lime wedges. The tortillas were soft and fresh. The meat, however, was dry, somewhat tough, and lacking in flavor. Not gross or anything, but a huge disappointment. The pico de gallo served with the chips at the table was very good, but the chips were stale and didn't taste like they were made at the restaurant. Sadly, I won't be back.

Every time I go there, I can have warm fresh corn chips, fresh salsa, and my favorite Steak Quesadilla! Several different kinds of hot sauce is so cool! I love this place!

This place is a serious diamond in the rough! What sold me at the first visit was when I asked for guac before our meal, and was told it takes time because it's made fresh! Um, yes, I'll wait for that!! Their prices are great, dishes authentic, and service is impeccable. We've never had a bad meal or experience.

I go here when I want comfort food... and I am not even hispanic! It's just such a humble little place where Mr & Mrs Owner are running the whole show with their son and daughter (after school), it's like their family is cooking for you... I've had a bunch of meals here, and there have been one or two weird dishes, but usually the food is good, it's fresh and it's always cheap. The chips are tasty and the salsa is wonderful. If I could just eat that, I might be fine! However, there are lots of other things that are also very good, like the tacos and the tostadas, which I usually get with the Pozole soup... mmmmm! That might be my favorite - great broth, chunks of pork and big white hominy kernels... always warms me up. Sometimes the pork can be fatty (many other cultures eat fat as a delicacy), same for the pork in the tacos (carnitas). The only other thing I had that was mediocre was a burrito (take-out... eaten cold). But aside from that, what I have had here is really good and again, for the price it is hard to beat. I think it is better value than most of the other hispanic places, as long as you don't need atmosphere to validate your experience.

This place is EXCELLENT. I am Mexican and have been dying to find some great Mexican food. Not only is this place that for sure, they make the absolute best tamales I have ever had! They taste just like my abuelita's! Very nice family and true authenticity in their food. I recommend highly.

El Paisano is the little Mexican place of my dreams. Best tacos in Bethlehem! Go in on Friday with some friends, bring a six pack, order some Salty Beef tacos and welcome in the weekend. The place is casual and a little offbeat. Everyone is happy to help but if you don't get one of the younger girls as your waitress, there is going to be a small language barrier. Don't worry, just smile and point out your item on the menu when you're not sure how to pronounce something. Make sure to wash it all down with Horchata and everything will be fine. Despite what yelp says, I'm sure I've paid with my card here.

Had a steak quesadilla, chips w/salsa. Vey blend, no flavor, and they give you a very small amount of chips. Food was okay but I will not go back there.

Most mexican restaurants are authentic, so if I said this place is authentic I wouldn't really be saying much... but I guess I'll use the world anyways because it's authentic in more ways than other mexican restaurants. First of all, it caters mainly to the hispanic community (you can tell by the name; the fact that the owners hardly speak english; and that the customers are predominately hispanic). The price isn't inflated, as is the case in most "exotic" restaurants. The food is awesome. Usually, for a mexican place to be popular amongst americans it simply has to be cool and exotic, without regard to quality. Not so for this place. Homemade hot sauces! Conclusion: Best mexican in the area. Better, I'd say, than Hello Burrito, Mexico Lindo, La Lupita, and Tulum (not to mention much cheaper). (Also, while there are technically no vegan options, they readily accommodated for me and substituted meats for veggies in my meal).

If I could give this place 20 stars I would. The waitress was incredibly nice and super helpful with every question and said her mom makes everything from scratch. So authentic I will definitely be back!

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food in Bethlehem/the Lehigh Valley, look no further. El Paisano is a quant little family operated place. Friendly service and delicious, authentic food. My favorites are the burrito with chorizo, the enchiladas verdes and the homemade guacamole and chips. Also, if you'd like a nice treat, their flan is delicious. The mild green sauce is my favorite.

Wonderful discovery - delicious, truly home-cooked Mexican food, everything really well executed, from house-made guacamole to a nicely complex mole sauce, to tacos with fantastic marinated pork. A small, modest place, run by lovely people charging almost scandalously low prices. I haven't been to a lot of Mexican places in the area, but if this place is not the best Mexican food in the Lehigh Valley, I would be shocked. As long as you're not looking for elegant decor, you really can't go wrong here. Loved it and will return whenever I'm anywhere near the area.

The tacos here are very authentic and full of flavor. The place though is in a house that was made room look like a restaurant but don't worry about the decor because the food really is great. Carnitas is very well seasoned and kind of sweet. The Tinga which is Chipotle chicken was amazing but beware because it is also very spicy. Overall when in this part of PA and looking for tacos this is it

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
