During our Easter weekend adventure 4 hours east of Pittsburgh, we had time to visit with Kay's cousin and dined at this little 16-year-old charmer of a restaurant with a name taken from Melva and Romayne, the grandmother and mother of the owners. The fare is typical of a Denny's or Eat N Park with offerings such as Creamed Chipped Beef, Turkey Rachel, Veal Parmigiana, and breakfast all day. I almost ordered their crab cakes but for some reason ordered a Buffalo Burger which gets you 6 ounces of Bison on a Kaiser with the standard fixings and a fries/slaw combo on the side. Eh, the burger tasted a might frozen, but the fries and slaw were acceptable. I regretted my hasty decision borne of a burger habit. An impressive looking array of cakes and pies vied for my attention in a glass case, but I decided to go with their Strawberry Roll-Ups, a breakfast dish, for dessert, and found that it saved my meal. The thick pancake/crepes were adequately fluffy and light, the warm strawberry filling heavy, sweet, and rich with maternal love. P.S. The back of the menu, which doesn't appear online, has a list of rules one must follow when eating at the restaurant. They include wiping your feet prior to entry, washing your hands before dining, and not asking for substitutions. God bless Melva and Romayne. If I come back, I'll try something else. I gotta get out of the sandwich rut.
