50 percent off sushi all day every day!! Whenever someone mentions sushi, this is my spot to go to. It's cheap and it's good. I'm not a big raw person, so I tend to stick with mostly shrimp rolls. My favorite items on the 50% off menu is the Black Angel Roll, Out of Control Roll, and the spicy dancing prawn roll. All of these rolls have tempura shrimp in it and made slightly different from one another (either sauces or other stuffings). The other items I order and love are: Beef Yaki Udon Noodles - this isn't exactly on the menu, but they never have a problem making it for me. Kani Salad - kani is crab if anyone doesn't know. This crab salad is amazing. Flavored perfectly and not too creamy because they don't use so much mayo. They do get very busy here, so if you can, come during an off peak time. Service can be slow at times, but especially during rush lunch or dinner. Overall: If you like good sushi (raw or cooked) and don't have a huge budget, this is your go to place.

BEST SUSHI,BEST PRICES. They always make the freshest food. You are probably thinking "sushi this cheap? It must be a hole in the wall spot with shop rite sushi" WRONG It's honestly one of my top three all time favorite sushi spots and trust me I've been to many around the NJ,PHILLY,NYC area (and more). The restaurant is really nice and super clean. Also its BYOB which is a plus.I always have the best dates with my boyfriend here.We actually went here on our first valentines day date and spent only $30 bucks including our dinner, appetizer and dessert. That day we also found $20 in the parking lot haha.Lucky spot I guess! I give this place five stars hands down.

I went to Sakura because Shogun (sushi a place across the street) was packed and had an extremely long wait. We walked in and were seated promptly. Our server came up to our table immediately and appeared extremely grumpy. We had to wait a while for our beverages and then to order. We ordered an avocado salad and 4 sushi rolls to share. I had to wait a while for my salad and when I got it I was disappointed. Couple lettuce leaves, small sprinkle of carrots and avocado slices for $5. Salad dressing wasn't that tasty either. Sushi time - I was less than pleased. They have 50% sushi rolls just like shogun across the street. The rolls were skimpy and the sauces were nasty. At shogun you get much bigger rolls even though it's off the 50% menu. Their one sauce made me want to gag it had a soy sauce base with entirely too much sesame oil, it ruined the roll. The rolls were sloppy and again skimpy! 1st place sushi in Bensalem is Tako and then 2nd place is Shogun and I am quite sure any other place that serves sushi in Bensalem is way better than this. This sushi reminds me of the cheap, gritty, skimpy generic sushi you see at Chinese buffets. I am being generous with 2 stars as the food and the service sucked. I usually tip at minimum 20% all the time - it takes a lot for me to desire to leave less as I understand people have bad days but nope I left less than 15% because these servers were grumpy and pushy.

I came here for lunch around noon on a weekday. There were a handful of parties there, but there wasn't a wait. The restaurant has a very nice interior that gives it a great atmosphere. There are around ten tables and four seats at the sushi bar. Their hot tea is very good--I'm not sure what exactly it was, but it seemed like some combination of grain and green teas. They were also very good with keeping the cups full of tea. I ordered the chicken hibachi special, and I also got to try the shrimp tempura and negimaki lunch bento boxes. The hibachi came with fried rice, vegetables, green salad, and miso soup. The salad and soup were delicious. The salad greens were fresh and crisp, and the dressing was very subtly flavored--barely sweet and just a hint of ginger. The soup was piping hot, full of miso flavor, and barely salty. However, I was less enthusiastic about the rest of the meal. Everything else came together on a large plate and seemed to be covered with the same average-tasting sauce. The chicken was dry. The fried rice was okay in flavor, but I wish it had some vegetables in it--it only had a couple wisps of egg and some onion in addition to the rice. The vegetables (broccoli, onion, pepper) were okay but there wasn't much. The bento boxes came with either miso soup or green salad, six pieces of California roll, some fried seafood chunks, vegetables, and rice. I liked that their sushi had a thin layer of rice on the outside and contained fresh ingredients. The seafood chunks (if that's what they were) were pretty good, too. The shrimp tempura included some vegetable tempura as well (broccoli, sweet potato, zucchini, taro). The negimaki was okay. I thought the beef was a little tough, but the scallions lent it a lot of flavor. I found it a little odd that they served the soup and salad before the rest of the meal. It's more of a western tradition, and I would have appreciated having everything together to break the monotony of the hibachi flavor. We finished our meal with an order of tempura green tea ice cream. The ball was served cut into quarters with whipped cream and sprinkles. I thought that was an odd western touch. Regardless, the ice cream was delicious and flavorful. The tempura coating was warm and crispy. The dessert overall was pretty good, but I don't know if I'd get it again; the combination just isn't my favorite. The portions here are very generous and inexpensive (especially for lunch). I'd definitely be up for returning if I'm in the area, but I'll probably try something else from the menu.

Craved sushi one random night and decided to check them out. Server was helpful, was seated in a timely manner. Food is decently priced. Place is small but the decor is simple and not overly done. For the prices I'd check them out again.

Service is great and quick, you can't beat the 50% off rolls split between two people is a steal, the food is great, we had shumai and edamame for appetizers and two miso soups. For entrée we got 4 different rolls, Christmas Roll, Godzilla, O.M.G. Roll, and Coco Island Roll, absolutely a great choice. I think we found our new come to sushi place!

Sakura has the Best value for your money when it comes to sushi, 50 percent off practically everything on the menu is discounted and the sushi is very fresh I have been coming here for years and haven't had a bad meal once.

My go-to place for sushi in the area. I even prefer it over a lot of popular places downtown. Why?? (1) The price is right. 50% off menu price isn't 50% off their own price. It's their everyday price. But it's a good value. They're basically saying it's 50% off every other sushi place, and it really is. (2)The quality is top notch too. Is it the best sushi I've ever tasted in my life?? Probably not. But it's high up there. In fact, when I think of eating sushi, I eat here. I've eaten many other places in Philadelphia and while it MAY be good, i just don't find it as good or memorable as Sakura. (3) Variety. They have a great variety of specialty rolls, so everyone will find one you like. But the basic rolls are great too. (4) Staff. Unlike swanky downtown places, they remember us when we come. (5) BYOB. 'Nuff Said. Be warned, this place can get pretty busy. The wait isn't too long (maybe 10 minutes at most before being seated), but the waiting area can be tight. Sometimes the rolls take awhile too, but that's because these guys are serious about sushi and presentation (on top of it being busy!) Great place and would recommend to anyone.

  • Robyn H.

Picked up take out. Ordered off the 50% off sushi menu. First place I've been that puts avocado in a Philadelphia roll. It's usually salmon, cream cheese, and cucumber. They use avocado instead. A little mushy and will order it the way I prefer next time. Other rolls were good. I would have been upset if I paid the $15.95 full price listed for the coconut shrimp roll but at 1/2 price it was ok. Probably will skip it next time, still a small roll. This isn't sushi you are going to die for but its really reasonable and fresh I plan to pick up again.

Sakura's prices cant be beat. They offer plenty of sushi choices and the quality is always fresh. Its aldo a BYO which is nice if you want a casual dining experience. They also offer hot and sour soup which I think is amazing. They have hibachi options but they cook it in the bacj. The service here can be slow as this place gets really busy. I would give it a 3.5 overall from service experience to food quality.

Absolutely love this place!!! I've never had a bad meal and the service is fast and friendly. I could eat here at least once a week!!! The prices are amazing too, so cheap for such high quality food.

I was definitely a little weary of going to my friend's birthday dinner at a sushi restaurant in a shopping center, but what a great little place. The sushi is very cheap and actually decent. I laugh at the 50% off menu because apparently they have that every day, but I don't mind 6.95 specialty rolls. It is BYOB too which is fantastic. Our service was a little slow and not the best, but considering we were a party of 14 I will let it slide. I would definitely check this place out if you are looking for a reasonably priced, decent sushi meal. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because there are definitely better sushi restaurants out there (of course they come with a price).

  • Jillian J.

Amazing sushi and amazing prices. My boyfriend and I are probably Sakura's biggest fans. We must order take out at least once every two weeks. We love the Spicy Crab and Philadelphia rolls! Service is speedy in the restaurant and for take out. Absolutely no complaints.

This place was a fantastic Sushi place! You think it's "ugh, a sushi place, they're all the same" but really, they're not! They have 50% off specials every day on normal rolls and special rolls. Their regular rolls are about $3.00 and specials are around $7.00/$8.00 but they are all well worth it! Thave half off hibachi as well but I didn't get a chance to try it. (it's the kind they make in the kitchen then bring out to you, not the ones with you sitting in front of the grill). Sushi highlights: ANY of the "galaxy" rolls. I tried a few and they were ALL fantastic. It's mind blowing because all rolls are HUGE and they are WRAPPED WITH SUSHI instead of seaweed paper. Imagine just a GIANT roll of sushi meat. Omg. Amazing! Every mouthful was an orgasmic explosion. The sushi also tasted very fresh and it was just great overall. The place is BYOB so you can enjoy cheap alcohol that you brought from home to your heart's content. It was great. The atmosphere was nice, very open space with the sushi bar in the middle and lots of seating. Big parties up to 15 can fit easily.

Always come here for sushi bc they definately have the best deals compared to other places I have been. You can't really beat 50% off sushi (now this is there regular prices everyday.) You definately need to go during non peak hours if you don't want to wait (as they do get extremely busy from their amazing priced sushi), but if you do go during peak times, the wait is never long. They are good at what they do and have pretty fast turnover. Spicy Miami Roll.- Mmm!! I love anything that has a kick to it. This is by far my favorite! Beef yaki Udon- sooo good! They give a nice size portion and the sauce flavoring is perfect. It's also not drowned in tons of veggies with a tiny bit of meat. They give you a good amount of meat so it's def worth the money you spend on it. Age Tofu- Love! I lvoe tofu in general, so fried tofu is that much better. Kani Salad - My husband's favorite. I love it too. Not too much mayonaise in it. Seaweed Salad - Also another favorite. Great size portion as well. There are tons of other things I have bought, but those were my favorites I listed. Just go crazy and order the sushi. You won't be dissappointed and your wallet won't be hurting either. :-)

Ordered sushi to go for a small party messed up my order. Called said they don't care. It happens is their answer no one is perfect. If you place an order it should be perfect. You re paying for it. Or maybe you should just go in get what they serve you and be happy???

Was always leary to check this place out, but I finally caved the other night & am so glad I did as I've been missing out on some good food all this time! I was pleased with the quality of the food, the quantity of food and the cost. Between me & my companion, we ordered 2 hibachi meals where you could choose 2 of the following: shrimp, scallops, steak, calimari, or chicken. We chose steak, shrimp and scallops -all of which were delicious! ! It came with a side salad&miso soup. Very filling. We also ordered spicy tuna and crab sushi. Half off the sushi here! We received 6 pieces of each sushi. Note, as others have mentioned, this place is easy to miss. I will def be going here again.

Been frequenting this place for many years, even before they became a more comfortable seated restaurant ( used to be more like a quickie takeout place). The ambience is nice, the portions and quality is excellent, their prices are reasonably comparable to other Sushi restaurants. Never had a bad meal or experience with Sakura.

50% off sushi all the time! I love their spicy crab roll, black angel roll, spicy shrimp roll and California rolls. The Godzilla roll is good too if you like a deep fried roll.

I'd like to preface my review by saying I've never dined in or done hibachi here. This is based strictly on my take out experiences. They have great prices and good selection. Service has always been prompt and I've never had an issue with an order. I was very hesitant to try a place with a "50% off every day" sushi menu because that sounds like a recipe for disaster but it is pretty common in this area. I went here once just to try and was satisfied. I've been back about 6 or 7 times since.

Great deals for half price sushi. They recently added Ramen Soba to their menu and it's really good. The broth is creamy and perfectly salted. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the pork belly is tender. I highly recommend it.

  • Krisann S.

Well, what can I say, it's sushi. Not super fresh, but for the price, it is worth it. They make the sushi look real nice, but it takes reaaaaaally long for it to come out and the service in general is adequate. And for those two reasons, I much prefer Osaki.

Terrible place. I went with my boyfriend once for a date night and i dropped a $20 bill on the floor and the owner came over and asked if it was mine and that the person who sat at the table before me was a dear friend of hers and if i was lying she was going to kick me out. It was mine, to say the least. She kept telling me that if i was lying she was going to kick me out. That is no way to treat a customer. The service is horrendous. The servers are NEVER happy and don't even come over to check up on us to see if our food is good. It took forever for us to even get our food. We had about 3 different servers with taking our order, giving us our food, and giving us the check. None of which were happy or friendly. Ive been going for years and im officially done with this place. Im angry every time i leave, and the only way they will learn is if unhappy customers stop coming.

My girlfriend and I frequently visit this place. The running joke is to see if our waitress can be more miserable and rude then the previous one. They have zero people skills. The price though is great and the sushi is decent.

Tasty food for what I got. Shumai, haru maki, inari, and sakura don. Had to ask for the appropriate sauces for shumai and haru maki. Through conversation I learned that no one is Japanese. So Chinese people making raw food. The waitress was cold until I asked her where she was from. Then I started naming places. Then she opened up a bit. I would not recommend this place for Japanese sushi. Maybe Chinese sushi? Maybe good chinese food will come from this place. The food is edible.

  • Tory K.

This is one of my all time favorite sushi restaurants. The sushi here is simple, inexpensive, and delicious. There is also a hibachi menu for folks not feeling sushi or wanting something a bit different. Any of the hibachi meals or fried rices are a winner (all made fresh to order). Try the Spicy Girl roll and the Godzilla roll!

This place is great my husband and I go here about once a week. The prices are the best around. They are always on point great fish great service and even better if you want to take it home and have a sushi movie night.

  • Veronica K.

I give them two stars for their food, which I find delicious. I wish I could give them more but honestly their service is very subpar. We waited over an hour after placing our order to receive food, and not once did our waitress come back to see how we were doing or apologize for the slow service. I wouldn't even care about the slow service if the waitstaff hadn't been so avoidant, since we tried to get their attention multiple times and were ignored every time. Because of that, I will not be going back to Sakura any time soon. There are multiple (and very similar) places in the area that are less crowded and have faster service by light years.

I never write yelp reviews so this is my first, so you know I had a terrible experience. First off, let me start by saying I was a big fan of Sakura and would come here quite often from 30 min drive away. Well I took my mom here for Mothers Day dinner and had left the place uber pissed. To start off, our food took 45 min to an hour to come out. Ok. I would give them the benefit of the doubt and say it was busy, but it wasnt terribly busy. I've seen this place wayyyy busier on a saturday or friday night and have gotten our food quicker. Next, our waitress was cold as ice. She came off as she didnt want to be there and just straight up not friendly at all. She didnt tend to us very much either and found ourselves having to flag down other waitresses for help (which ended up being a disaster as well....read ahead). Cold ass waitress drops off our check when we finished our dinner without offering us dessert, when we wanted to have dessert. Yet again we had to flag down another waitress to order a dessert. We were obviously being rushed to hurry and finish up. It was only freaking 8:45p. It was painfully obvious these people were just trying to close and leave. So my mom didnt eat much of her hibachi entree and asked a different waitress for a take home box. The waitress took her dish to the back to box it up, and she ends up "losing it." WTF?! You lost it??! I almost lost my mind. Mind you it was almost a whole entree leftover. (Sidenote: We had to approach the waitress about where our to go food, as all the waitresses were huddled at table counting out all their tips for the night). They refused to take off the one entree off our bill. I had to get outta there before I went apeshit on this waitress. I dont know if its under new ownership/management but it was just wasnt the same. Needless to say I aint coming back to this joint. Too many "50% off sushi" places to lose sleep over this place with their mediocre food and shitty service.

    (1)
  • Nancy P.

If you're looking for cheap sushi, this place has got a 50% off sushi menu. I used to go to Sakura and it was decent for the price. But now I prefer Shogun (like half a mile further down Street Road). Both have the 50% off sushi menu but I prefer the sushi at Shogun. The service was also slower at Sakura..why do I have to ask three times for a water refill?

    (3)
  • Erin R.

This is my go to sushi place. Great service, great food and awesome prices, especially for sushi ! It's a cute little place, everyone I go with loves it. My favorites are the avocado salad, pork gyoza, chicken/shrimp tempura hand roll(both are delish!), cucumber and california rolls--great choices for those who are hesitant in doing actual sushi. However, the sashimi, I've had the salmon and peppered tuna, are very fresh and delicious.

  • Gina M.

My favorite place to go for sushi. They have a half priced menu that has so many different times of sushi. Plenty of appetizers and the tempura ice cream....oh let me stop, my mouth is watering! Spider roll is AMAZING. Only problem, it is a small place and on the weekends, it is ALWAYS crowded so it gets kind of loud. But it is worth it. It is also a BYOB. Very cheap and affordable.

  • Danielle D.

We love Sakura. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is a really cute and hip Japanese restaurant. We generally dine in because take out takes longer than desired, and the wait has gotten much longer for dinner since this place has started to catch on. 50% off all day sushi sounds like it would cheapen the food, but the sushi is always incredibly fresh and really good. Our favorites are the black angel roll & sweet potato roll. They also bring an orange to you after the meal, cut up into a fun shape. It's BYOB so feel free to bring your own beer, wine, etc. Love it & wish I still lived close to it!

My favorite place for sushi in the area is Tako on Galloway Rd, which is a five minute drive away from Sakura. However, I have picked up take-out here at Sakura since it's right on Street Rd and just easier to pick up on my way home from work. Sushi here is decent and I know they have 50% off specials on certain items on the menu, but I've pretty much just ordered bento boxes here. Lunch portions are obviously cheaper, but you still get a TON of food for the price.

  • Ange A.

Sushi holds a special place in my heart, so it's fair to say that a place has to be *that* good to become one of my haunts. My first visit to Sakura was on a Saturday night where it was quite crowded. Nonetheless, my boyfriend and I were seated within 10 minutes; not bad : ) Sakura caters not just to the sushi lover like myself, but even someone like my boyfriend who doesn't care for it can order a Chicken Teryaki and be impressed. Although I'm not sure about bringing younger children here to eat sushi; they could probably make do with a hibachi dinner or appetizer. And, just because Sakura offers a 50% menu doesn't mean they skimped on taste or quality. Theses are decent portions on special rolls, hand rolls, and sashimi. I just ordered take out from them and the employees were very friendly. -- A forever loyal Sakura fan

I starting off by saying this is one of my favorite places to get really delicious sushi. Service is definitely a no go. It started off ok, our waitress was taking our order and during that process she randomly started talking to another waitress on the other side of the restaurant and practically ignored my mom while she was trying to order. We got her a attention back finally and the night went on. We got our appetizers and it was great. I tucked my dishes at the end of table neatly and she comes around and takes the dishes but puts my dirty fork back on the table and in my soy sauce tray. Ginger dressing fork in soy sauce tray! She tried to grab for my mom's plate repeatedly when she said she wasn't done. The waitress had such a blank look on her face like she didn't even want to be there. I saw that she treated her other two tables in the exact same manner. Like the lights were on but nobodies home/auto pilot. I left for a few moments and she kept trying to take my half eaten plate and toss it. My mom told her no, she isn't finish... the waitress ignored her to the point where my mom had to get her attention to put the plate down. By the end we were really irritated. She just wasn't paying any attention. We paid the bill and went to the car. Get this... the waitress FOLLOWED us to the car! She knocked and said, "you forgot to pay me tip. Can you write me tip?" No I'm not writing you a tip for being rude/auto pilot waitress. And she acted the same with two other tables. I never had a problem with any other waitress there.

One of two restaurants within a mile of each other on Street Road that offer half price sushi. I'll be honest, Sakura comes in second in terms of sushi. That being said, their hibachi is good and they are a bit more generous with portions than Shogun. However, don't expect a show as they prepare in the kitchen and the overall atmosphere is average for a sit down restaurant. In all, a decent place for lunch but nothing over the top.

  • Mianna B.

This is my favorite sushi spot. They have a huge 50% off menu. Everything is always fresh and consistent. And they do take out ;) I have never had a bad meal here. Love the American Dream Roll! Can't wait to come back!

What attracted me about Sakura is their "50% off sushi rolls." Who doesn't like a good deal? Am I right? Well, even good deals come at a cost. I have dined at many Japanese restaurants and have lived in Japan for quite awhile, so I know the difference between good sushi and great sushi. The sushi here at Sakura are just mediocre. There was nothing out of the ordinary or memorable to me. I have both dined in and ordered take-out from this place. From my experience dining in, I felt that service was a bit slow for me and waiting to get a table during peak hours can be frustrating. Moreover, it took quite a while for my food to arrive. I had hoped the food would be amazing if it were to take this long. Unfortunately, my food was just average. From my experience ordering take-out, just like dining in, the service was a slow for me. One time, I was told over the phone that my order that I placed would be ready in 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, I have arrived to Sakura, and was ready to pick up my order, but the food was not ready. I figured "alright, that's not a problem. they're probably finishing wrapping up the last sushi roll or something, so I'll just wait here for a few minutes." After waiting for additional 20 minutes, I finally got my food. I really wished they would have given me a more realistic estimated time of when my food would be ready. Overall, Sakura is inexpensive and has good food, but their service could use some improvements.

Great sushi and amazing prices. We drive over 40 minutes to come here and we are regulars. Make a reservation if you are going on Friday or Saturday. It's BYOB. The wait time for the food can be a little long but the most expensive roll might be $7 so you can wait! Wait staff is good and prompt.

    (4)
  • Bea C.

Sushi is great - the food is always fresh. However, the service is terrible! The wait is always so long for your food. If you have plenty of time and a bottle of wine, sure, it's the place to be. Other than that, there's plenty of other sushi places around the area to go to.

  • Jamie M.

We were cruisin' around the area looking for a decent place to grab food when we noticed that Sakura had a 50% off menu. We stopped in figuring it couldn't hurt. We each ordered a chicken/shrimp hibachi meal from the 50% off meal which came with miso soup and salad as well as fried rice. The food was okay, the service was okay; it just wouldn't inspire me to come back again.

Our first visit here was great but the second time..my date and I both ended up with stomach aches and he had hair on one of his rolls. Also the waitresses just starred at us the entire time. So uncomfortable and awkward.

this is my favorite sushi place, ever. Always really good, good service (well, as good as any you get at a sushi place). Great value. The hawaiian roll and the miso glazed eggplant appetizer are my absolute favorite things. I wish it was a little closer to me.

This place is so easy to miss amongst all the eyesore stripmalls on Street Road. But if you do go, you definitely won't be disappointed. Like everyone else said, the half off menu is great. Every roll you could possibly want is on this page-in my opinion, don't even bother with the rest of the menu! I think the most expensive roll was like $6.50, with most of them being in the $3-$4 range. I tried a Hawaiian roll which was great. Plus, how could you not love a place that gives you a complimentary orange?

My go to place for take out sushi. Be sure to check out their 50% menu. The Black Angel, Spicy Girl and Godzilla Rolls are incredibly good.

I went to Sakura with a co-worker for lunch and was not disappointed. We both ordered from their "50% off menu", which is available to order from any day of the week, at any time. I know there were many reviews about wait times and poor service but it is important to stress that this was not the case for me. Keep in mind I did go for lunch on a Tuesday at 12:30. The restaurant was over half empty, so my service was immediate and the server was very kind. This is quite a small building, I can very easily see wait times being long for dinner service, and especially long on the weekends. Price for my lunch was $10 including tip for a very tasty Hawaii Roll (8 pieces), and Spicy Tuna Roll (6 pieces). I will certainly be returning in the future and trying new sushi with Sakura. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice affordable lunch, the food was great and service was prompt. Whether you chose to go for dinner is your choice, I would assume the quality of food to be just as good, but you would be wrong to not expect a wait.

This is my go-to sushi place if I'm looking to stuff myself on a budget. Their half-price menu is great and full of all kinds of fancy rolls. Other than a slightly above average wait time when you sit down (or order by phone), I have nothing bad to say about them. The wait staff MAY come across as a little rude, but don't hold it against them. Most speak very poor English, but want nothing more than to make sure you leave happy!

Disappointed beyond measure... We ordered 5 rolls off of the 50% menu, plus an a la carte order of tamago and a zaru soba appetizer (listed under hot appetizers). The zaru soba looked nice, but did not come in a basket, nor with dipping sauce or any toppings. The chilled soba noodles were drenched in SLIMY sauce. Did they mix in the starchy water off the cooked noodles? As for the sushi, it was... highly undesirable. All of our rolls were topped with the eel kabayaki sauce (why do sushi restaurants do this?). The spicy tuna was weirdly bright and foamy looking, though the taste was alright. Their spicy salmon was an unsightly color, tasted worse than the tuna but did not look as bad. The sweet potato roll was my minor solace in it being standard fare. The dragon roll was worse than mall sushi. The tamagoyaki was interestingly... crumbly; it felt like an eraser. It did not seem like an untrustworthy place, but I did regret eating the food, and I felt disgusted as I left the place. Was ordering from the 50% off menu a mistake? No - I am glad I only paid 35$ to a place that can serve such food to its customers.

Love sushi. Sakura makes some great sushi. They have a TON of different rolls to choose from, and I can honestly say I've probably had 95% of them. I haven't needed to really search for other sushi restaurants in the area, mainly because Sakura is right own the street from me. I've eaten in the restaurant as well as ordered takeout. Sakura always seems to be packed with people, which is a good sign that the food is good. One of the great things about their sushi isn't just their selection and quality, but their price too. All of their rolls are always 50% off. It's great because you can get a deluxe style roll with 8 pieces for 5$. Order a few rolls like that and you have a feast for as many as you need. Sakura is also a BYOB, which can make your meal there even better. If you're in the Bensalem area and dying for some sushi, I highly recommend it.

Pretty decent sushi (I was very surprised that I was able to order a vegetable dragon roll, which I would highly recommend.) The prices are incredibly cheap- there is a 50% off all day menu, which means most basic rolls are about 2-3 dollars. The ginger dressing isn't too good, and I was very shocked to find out they don't serve alcohol- what is sushi without a Sapporo! Guess that's PA for you, but it's a really good place if you're looking for sushi and a really good deal.

This is a nice establishment. The decor is nice and the food tastes great and if you order off the 50% off menu, the sushi is a steal! I have however, learned the best way to go about things. For some reason whenever I go for sit down the wait time for food is painfully slow (the reason for dropping a star), so I've learned to call my order in 20 minutes in advance and come pick it up. I hosted a dinner for 4 at my apartment and ordered take out and received a beautifully displayed platter to have waiting for my guests. They loved it! It was plenty for everyone and only $25! I like to order the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, california, (all $2-$2.50/ roll) and a fancier one like the rainbow roll ($5).

Service is so slow and sucks!!! Small waiting area for waiting for a table. Staff is RUDE! Food is average at best! Only good thing is the 50% off sushi menu!

I love this place! Finding a good sushi place that doesn't break your wallet is no easy task but Sakura is it. Whenever I take friends for sushi I go here. You can't beat their 50% off menu which is offered all time! I love the colors, presentation, and of course the taste is fantastic. The service isn't the best, after getting your entrees, it may be awhile till you see your server but the sushi makes up for it. I do agree with others that your entrees do seem to take awhile to get there but it's certainly better to wait for the good stuff. They have a large selection from simple rolls to tasty special rolls, my personal favorite is the spicy tuna roll but haven't gotten one yet I haven't liked. I have found this to be a great place to take first time sushi people. People tend to be nervous about sushi and if you want to give them good sushi that isn't mad expensive if they don't like it Sakura is it. I will continue to dine here and actually am taking my staff out next Wednesday for dinner here!

My visit to Sakura was very disappointing. I WILL NOT GO BACK! The service just does not exist. Before I even sat down at my table, the "waitress" asked me in demanding tone, "What do you want to drink"? I was not even at my table and I hadn't reviewed a menu. When I asked if she had beer & wine she curtly responded, "Soda, tea and water". The food was greasy and had no taste. The sushi bar actually smelled and the fish had a slimy, sticky coating. I regret trying Sakura in Bensalem.

  • Neil S.

Sakura's sushi is somewhat poorly constructed, but acceptable. Their rolls are definitely rice and vegetable heavy, which leaves something to be desired in the fish department. Also, the fish isn't the freshest you can get in the burbs, so don't go here expecting to taste the ocean when eating sashimi. However, in a roll with various fillings it's decent, although the fish's flavor gets somewhat lost. That being said, Sakura offers excellent value with an all day half-off menu. Most of the rolls you'd want are on the menu, with prices ranging from $2-$6 per roll. So while it's not the greatest sushi, it's definitely the best given the price (portions are larger than Shogun across the street, which also boasts a half off sushi menu). If you have the cash to spare head to Tako nearby, but Sakura hits the spot when appetites are large and cash is low.

  • Danan R.

White tuna avocado roll was decent, as was the salmon avocado. No, it's nt the best fish but for $2.50 a roll? It's definitely better food than McDonalds or bk. The Philadelphia roll has smoked salmon, which was unexpected but a nice change from imitation crab. Service was pretty fast. Great place for a quick, inexpensive, healthy lunch.

  • Anna G.

I've been to this place many times because it's so cheap and conveniently located, but the sushi is OKAY, but the rolls are very small but you get what you pay for. Service is so slow. You can easily wait an hour for your order to come, even if you only order a couple rolls. If you are looking to kill 2 or 3 hours, come to Sakura because it will take them that long to get the food out to you!

  • Net L.

Was here today and the waitress Connie was so rude and annoying. She acted like a huge snob. Like she was better than everyone in the store. She was such a turn off, that I could avoid this place all together because of the attitude. Not worth it, but food is good!

    (3)
  • Celic M.

It took forty minutes to get our food and there were only 3 tables with patrons. I never get the eel rolls because there is hardly any eel in the eel roll, so it is not worth it. On the special rolls, if you like tempura or fake crab you may like it, but I do not like either and most of the menu consists of that. The waiter did not come back to our table after we received our food, and so we did not get our waters refilled nor were we asked about how we enjoyed the meal.

this review is for their take out, although from what i hear it's a pretty close approximation to their dine-in menu. the restaurant is spacious, clean, and pleasant looking, with a standard sushi bar, booths, and tables for seating. staff & chef were speaking chinese though, and in my experience this tends to a less authentic experience (as opposed to a japanese run japanese restaurant). i don't know, maybe i am biased. or racist (i promise i am NOT racist). the girls who took my order were sooo nice though. even offered to help carry the food out to my car! and extra star for that! i ordered a variety of rolls (spicy salmon, spicy tuna, specialty orange salmon), sashimi, and chicken teriyaki & unagi don for the less adventurous. All the sushi was fresh and moderately priced. they have this crazy 50% off menu with rolls for ~$5-6. but the rolls are tiny so it's a deal, but not really. for the location (30mins north of center city) and the price, it's not a bad choice, but taste-wise it's not that memorable either since everything was on the bland side.

  • Claire O.

Ah, definitely wasn't feeling this place. I came here for the half-off sushi but was disappointed by the quality. There was way too much rice on the rolls (a good fish-rice ratio is key) and even the rice seemed off. There are other sushi places in Bensalem (see my other reviews) that I would definitely recommend over this place.

  • Whitney O.

It's extremely rare to get cheap AND awesome sushi. This is my go-to place for sushi, though my family & friends prefer places like To-Kai, Akira, etc. (I think they're on yelp, if you wanna check those out - they're pricier). I'm just a loyal fan to Sakura though, because I've never had a bad piece of sushi or an unpleasant time. Take-out or sit in, it's just awesome always. After you order, it's a bit of a long wait though (for both take-out and sit in) but that's ok, let them take their time. Try any or all of the 50% menu, it's all good :) I think Shogun copied off them too, because they were not 50% off until after Sakura was established across the street, and that business was good!

One of the best sushi spots around. I have friends tell me that they've traveled to Sakura from across the city just for it's mouth-watering sushi. The 1/2 price menu has over two dozen variety of sushi with rolls ranging anywhere from 2-7$. Although the price is cheap, the quality is superb. If your looking for some high quality sushi at an affordable price, you've come to the perfect restaurant.

The bf and I ordered take-out from the restaurant's 50% off menu recently. He gets rolls from there often, always from the 50% off menu, because they offer it daily. You can get a $5 Godzilla roll, and it is DELICIOUS. Nice size, good quality. I also ordered a $2 California roll, also very good. I only took off a star because they told us to pick up our order in 10 minutes, and it took us 10 to get there, and we waited another 10. It didn't really bother us because we weren't in a hurry! Very cute restaurant and the staff was pleasant. Can't wait to get sushi from there again!

The sushi is really good there. Always fresh and full of flavor. I like the mango shrimp, ocean blue, & Bensalem roll. Most times lately there is 50% off some types of sushi. It's very clean and the service is pretty decent there. We eat there frequently.

Sakura is the kind of sushi place that will get the job done if you have a sushi craving. Don't come here expecting to have your mind blown. The food is cheap and its a BYOB which I love. The downside is that with cheap food comes cheap flavors. Many of the rolls taste the same, I think they overcompensate with tempura, spicy sauce/eel sauce/fish sauce to make up for fish that isn't the most flavorful or isn't of the highest quality. Don't get me wrong, I have been here many times and will surely be back but if I want melt in your mouth sashimi this will not be the place I come to. Also, service and wait time is hit or miss. Sometimes I have been in and out in less than 45 minutes and one time it took nearly 3 hours.

  • Prada A.

I love this place and can't pay full price for sushi ever again! I use to go once a week before I got bz with work. They have more not fried options than the other place across the street. Its the 1 of 2 places where I go to in Bensalem.

  • Lisa M.

I have nothing, but nice things to say about Sakura. I have tried many sushi places and am very particular. I go to Sakura sometimes 3 times a week because it is just that good! Of all the times I've been there, I have never had bad sushi (which is more than I can say about other Japanese restaurants). The staff is very kind and hard working; they take pride in making sure every order is correct.. I have been there many, many times and have never had an issue with my order. One day, staff noticed that I didn't order a particular item and asked if I wanted it. I thought that was very nice, attentive, and I'm glad they noticed. There are a many sushi places in the area, but I would say Sakura is the best. You will not be disappointed.

i have eaten at their location on the boulevard and it was good but had odd hours, this locatuion however is more conventional hours, everything is good ( don't like sushi ) but the meals they prepare are to die for, prices are reasonible and service is quick, love it to death !

  • Nick G.

All I can say about their food quality is that their target audience seems to be a lower middle class teenager. It's somewhat creative, but they don't have much respect for the quality of ingredients. I can't believe the place across the street got fewer stars from other reviewers. Don't buy into the 50% off game.

  • Luan P.

I actually liked the place, the interior is cozy, the sushi is not bad (not the best) but definitely got potential. I gave it a three star because the shrimp tempura was much overcharged and a really bad Godzilla roll. It was 14 dollars for a bowl of noodle with exactly 2 shrimps and all vegetables. That's it? Just soup and noodle with 2 fried shrimps, $14. The sushi itself wasn't bad. However, compared to Shogun down the street, Sakura's sushi still tastes a bit inferior. The Godzilla roll was especially bad, with a whole lot of rice and a tiny bit of seared tuna in the middle. I've had Godzilla rolls with salmon, tuna, tempura, eel sauce and fried fish on top, so this was a huge disappointment at Sakura. The waitresses are very friendly but they could do better with a little more English. Also, I wished they've served their sushi one plate at a time. I remember all 5 sushi rolls coming out at one time, they tasted so similar I had no idea which ones I've ordered.

Let me lay it on you SHORT AND SWEET. 1. It's a sushi & hibachi house that's run by Chinese. So the sushi isn't the most authentic, especially the sushi rice isn't the perfect texture. 2. BUT...they have a 50% off menu for rolls ($4-6.50), so I'm not even going to complain, you get what you pay for. 3. The Shrimp and Steak Hibachi was pretty good, generous portions with lots of meat and veggies. Although...a lil too many doses of soy sauce on that. The shrimp tasted very fresh, outta the ocean fresh. The steak on the other hand a lil chewy. 4. Now...the bill (drum roll)..............$20 for 2 rolls (13 pcs) and a giant hibachi entree. Not too shabby at all, considering it's also byob. Definitely a cool spot to catch a cheap dinner, although don't expect really authentic/fine food.

I was a frequent patron of the restaurant until tonight. Had a dead roach on the seat in our booth. Was moved and comped with a $2.50 soda. It was explained that the exterminator was in a couple of days ago. I would have expected more of a comp than a soda.

My grandmom and I came here lunch, never having been before. The sushi was very good. California roll was fresh, Ginger was white, not dyed pink, miso soup was great, not too salty, and the green tea ice cream was dark green and flavorful. Darkish atmophere, but comfortable. Staff was very friendly, and food was served fast. Great sushi considering the location! I highly recommend. Prices were not bad either. Sushi/sashimi combo for $10. 5 pieces of sushi, 6 pieces of California roll, and 6 pieces of sashimi. Plus miso soup. My rating: :D

Dropping one star. While the place is still cheap and rolls are good and imaginative for the price, the service during dinner rush was horrible.

  • Joe L.

Tasty, fresh sushi, a lot of which is half off. You definitely get your money's worth here. The service leaves a little to be desired. No one here is especially friendly, but they get the job done. They have takeout, which is a nice alternative given the service. Still a great place all-in-all worth stopping in.

    (4)
  • SC W.

The sushi is just mediocre....I believe in you get what you pay for, so their 50% off menu although cheap, it's not that great. I can't rave about this place, I can just say this place is ok.

  • Chelsea S.

Oh Sakura, how I love you. This once upon a time Taco Bell, hidden somewhere deep in the bustling smog of street road, has become my favorite local sushi joint. Grab a bottle of saké and a few bucks and you're set. Their service is not great, but it is definitely not bad. If you're looking for a recommendation, their rainbow roll is the cheapest and most tasty around. I recently tried the Pepper Tuna Tataki and it was pretty unbelievable. So don't be fooled by their takeout-esque appearance. If you are in the area and want sushi, stop messing around and just go to Sakura.

The rolls have the tiniest pieces of fish in them, all u taste is rice thats why there sushi is cheaper that other close by Japanese restaurants. Chinese manage this place not Japanese so do not be fooled.

I have been to Sakura 5 times in the past 2 months -- I can't seem to get enough! This is a great place to go if you're in the mood for sushi, but not in the mood for the regular price of sushi. They've got a 50% off menu all day, everyday. Though you can't get EVERY roll for the absurdly low price, there is quite a variety. And, it's delicious! My favorite is the Spicy Girl roll -- spicy tuna, salmon, yellowtail topped with masago and special sauce -- and 8 pieces of that is only $6.00. There's all kinds of awesome deals like that (shrimp tempura roll is only $3) and you'll have enough to take for lunch the next day. The service isn't the best, but mostly, I think it's because they get so busy because of the awesome deals they offer. But, in my opinion it's worth the wait!

As many other reviewers have noted, this place has half off sushi all the time, which makes it a favorite go to spot for takeout on weeknights. My boyfriend and I are both pretty big eaters and can fill up, with leftovers for under $20. I'm a huge fan of their Philly roll which actually has smoked salmon in it, along with cream cheese and avocado. My boyfriend LOVES the dragon roll with a passion that make me jealous and their sweet potato roll is amazingly light and crispy. All in all, I would say that this place is great standard rotation restaurant. I only give it four stars because the dine in service is hit or miss and the misses have been horrendous. However, the takeout staff are insanely friendly and seemed to recognize us after our first visit, even remembering not give us extra chopsticks.

I am in LOVE with this restaurant. Their sushi is so delicious and so CHEAP. Service is very fast, which I enjoy greatly. My favorite sushi is the Godzilla one but they have plenty more mouthwatering choices. It's a pretty small restaurant but very nice and clean. I recommend this restaurant to all sushi lovers out there!

If you would like upper mid-grade sushi in Bensalem, this cute little place is just the spot. The fish is fresh, but don't expect any prime cut choices such as toro. I ordered the beef negimaki bento box, and my girlfriend and I, along with another couple shared some rolls, such as dragon, spicy tuna, spider and rainbow rolls. Great rolls, like I said. If you like beff negimaki, however, don't order it here. It came out sloppy and burnt. The miso soup is so-so here as well. Bring your own sake if you would like to complete the experience. All in all, for Bensalem, these folks are doing great. You may think this place is great, so try it out. But for a spoiled kid like me, who's experienced the best of cities like Chicago and San Francisco, it's just good. Our server was somewhat rude to us, but I'm not holding that against the restaurant. I'm going to wait until my next visit to make that judgment call. Everybody can have a bad night. I will definitely go back to Sakura because of their cute and simple atmosphere and fresh fish, but I will only be ordering the sushi. And if the service is poor again, you'll hear about it here.

Price is good...and I'm in love with one roll and that's what keeps me coming back....It is the Christmas roll - Lobster salad, crunch, topped with tuna and green tobiko. I am not crazy about their other rolls...it has a slight weird after taste. They serve pretty fast. I usually place an order over the phone and they're ready in 20 minutes....great price too! $6.50 for a special roll!!! Can't beat that... but I can say that if they stopped making the special roll, i will not be back.

I love it here. Like most people say, it's easy to miss this place but besides that- the place itself is nice and food is good. The prices for sushi is unbeatable so thats definitely a plus and what makes it even better is that the food is not bad at all. The decor inside is different and peaceful, service is fast, I was impressed. If you're around the area, give Sakura a shot!

Sakura is my go-to place for sushi. It's tasty and the 50% off menu is fantastic. I stop regularly for take-out on my way home from work. I have never eaten there but it's always busy and the atmosphere is nice.

The sushi is AMAZING. I've eaten everywhere in Bucks Co + Northeast Philadelphia, and this place in in my top 5 when it comes to quality. Their selection is awesome, the rolls are big, and it's worth the half price. Downside: the service isn't great. But I'm willing to put up with it for more of these rolls. Best ones: Princess, Fuji, Queen Dragon, Spicy Girl.

I love Sakura!!! Their 50% off sushi menu is very extensive, and is not limited to the basic rolls. They offer the menu everyday, and make delicious sushi. They're quick with the food, too. Definitely check out the 50% off menu for sushi. You can get the 'fancier' rolls and feed two people for under $20. THe $7.95 chicken hibachi special is SO large!! I'd definitely reccommend it!

I went, craving sushi. I left, happy, with my craving satisfied. This place was a little hard to find by bus, but that wasn't really a problem. Usually when you hear sushi, you think money. That wasn't the case for this place. I went with a group of friends, trying to make it for lunch (because they have a special cheap lunch menu). When i looked in my menu, the first page is a 50% off menu! All day, everyday ! Boy that made me happy, some rolls such as the spicy tuna roll was only $3.00 i believe. I ordered about 4 rolls, and it went up to $10.50 for my bill alone. I was stuffed. A roll has 6 pieces, unless otherwise specified. The presentation of the food was great! It came arranged neatly, and it just made it look more appetizing. The food took a little while to get out to us, and the servers are diligent, but they don't really smile. I'd like to see happier people, to keep the atmosphere a little better, but it's not like it was horrible service. The inside decor is nice too. It feels very 'Asiany', making the experience somewhat authentic. All in all, i enjoyed Sakura! Good food, great prices.

This place used to be called Oriental Express (or something like that) and had delicious sushi. My wife and I really loved it. It closed and reopened recently as Sakura. Not sure if it is under new management, but the entire dining area has been expanded and remodeled with a clean and simple take on traditional Japanese architecture. The sushi was fresh and well plated, and the prompt courteous service became even more distringuished when one of the sushi chefs came out to help us with some questions we had about the food preparation. Bravo.

Sakura is my pick for sushi. While I don't go too on the wild side, I love eel and if you have ever had some that is not-so-fresh, you know it. Sakura's eel was absolutely THE BEST I ever had. My husband doesn't care for sushi and gets the chicken teriyaki platter which comes with miso soup and salad. I always eat the salad and love the orange ginger dressing. Very refreshing. I even took my parents here while they were visiting and they loved it too. Definite must-try if you are in the area.

I'll keep this review simple: Sa k u r a - The best Japanese Sushi establishment in Bucks. I look forward to the friendly greeting from the owner Andy and his staff. The cuisine is absolutely first rate. Every course is delicious and presented in a delicate and appealing way. Starting with appetizers I highly recommend, Eggplant in Miso. The eggplant was so sweet it tasted like fruit! The white tuna melts in your mouth. Some other of the highlights: Yellowtail Sushi, snapper, & mackerel sashimi all mouth watering. An all time favorite is now the Dynamite Roll. Nice Wow factor! BYOB Lunch is a great deal, if you are craving sushi but do not want to splurge on dinner. The service is polite, exacting and unbelievably attentive, constantly watching over you to fill your glass. The overall atmosphere is definitely a cute little place that's really well maintained. You will find fresh flowers are on each table. Everything is fresh tasting. If you're there alone or with one other person, be sure to sit at the bar. It is a special treat watching the chef work his magic. Conveniently located in the heart of Bensalem with ample parking.

i found this place on accident while visiting feasterville for a roller derby tournament hosted by the philly roller girls. amazing! i ate there 4 times in one weekend as did many of my teammates. the prices were so low that i was a bit leery of what the food would be like but it was absolutely delicious and really good quality. in general the service was pretty fast too.

I went to this location for the first time 3 weeks ago and fell in love with the sushi. So much so that I went back again a week later for more. Great little place, not long of a wait the first time (it's a good sign when a place is busy on a Monday night), and no wait the second time. My absolute favorite has to be the Buffalo Roll and then the Black Angel Roll. Even my 9 year old was open to trying all the delicious rolls in front of him. Service was great and we brought our own wine and glasses were provided immediately along with water.

Currently sitting here. I'm in a party of four and we ordered separately in twos. We ordered spider roll, salmon sashimi, exotic sashimi roll, American Dream roll and the coco island roll. To put it in simple words, everything was mediocre. I won't be coming back. The food also took a while to come out.

The food was great, that is why 2 stars, not one. No one met us. We stand there for 5 min. Waitresses were coming back and force, we were invisible for them. Next thing was almost angry waitress. She was not rude, but not welcoming at all. Next thing was a hair on a plate. I asked to change it. She took the plate, turned around, removed the hair from the plate and gave it back to my mom. I was shocked. We did not eat from that plate of course.

I wish I lived closer. I went here back in April for a friend's birthday. If you blink you might drive right past it. But it's worth turning around for. It's a byob sushi place in Bensalem. They have incredibly cheap prices, a 50% off sushi menu everyday. Service is ok, which is the reason for the 4 stars. It's not bad, but could be friendlier and a bit more attentive. On my last visit my husband and I ordered 6 rolls and it was under $25. We had a dragon roll, Christmas roll, Godzilla roll, spicy crunchy tuna, eel and cucumber, and a shrimp tempura. All great. My only complaint is there is wasabi in the Christmas roll that isn't mentioned on the menu. And I hate wasabi. Everything else was great and there are plenty of places to pick up beer or wine on the way. As I said, I wish I lived closer. But my waist line thanks me.

I usually order from Shogun which is literally across the street. However, on the day I was craving sushi, Shogun's shopping plaza was apparently out of power. Time for plan B: Sakura. I ordered the Sushi Sashimi lunch special. I noticed there are different combinations of lunch specials between Shogun and Sakura, which I definitely will check next time I am ordering. They are also about the same price. The order was ready when the woman on the phone said it would be. About 15-20 mins. I didn't have any problems. As far as the sushi goes, it was fresh and good. I wish I was given a little bit more wasabi and ginger with my order, but I tend to over do it with those two. Sakura has a smaller parking lot, and isn't as welcoming as Shogun. Although the building is separate (unlike a place on a shopping strip), so it might be better as far as a classier atmosphere. I do think Sakura staff could suffer to be a bit more friendly, but I really had minimal contact ordering takeout than a eat-in customer would have. I will definitely have to keep ordering from both Shogun and Sakura so I can pick a favorite!

Delicious and love that they have 50% sushi! I miss this place.

I ordered a couple salmon rolls, tea, and water. After the waitress brought me my water, I never saw her again. She never brought me my food, never refilled my water, and never even brought me out any tea.. There was only two other tables in the whole restaurant so not that hard for her to do that. After 30 minutes of watching the other two tables get their food before me. I finally had to find someone to go get my sushi from the back where it was just sitting. And it was mediocre sushi at that. Also when did it become acceptable to have half of your staff hanging out, eating, texting and joking in the dining room right next to your customers who are waiting on their food. I will never come here again.
