We came for lunch shortly after opening with high expectations for the new restaurant in Suburban Square. The space looks great with a two-story modern/industrial feeling, large bars and seating at both tables and booths. Execution on the food was disappointing. The mona lisa salad appeared as a large order of chicken strips atop a meager serving of salad greens that were swimming in dressing. The chicken was ample and tasty, but the ratios of ingredients were all wrong and the overdressed salad greens were not edible. Not what I expected when ordering an entree salad. Service was prompt and attentive and I'm sure they'll get better with experience. Perhaps we will give this another try, but Joe's is not living up to potential yet.

What a disappointment. This was my third visit to Joe's. My first two were great -- friendly bartender, great service, interesting menu. Then there was my visit on a Tuesday night in June... Where to start? Front of the house -- needs a lot of work. Clueless and surly. Wait staff overwhelmed but some staff were not trying hard. No one giving them direction or helpful suggestions. Bartender -- territorial about his "service zone" and could care less about the rest of the place. The staff on this night operated like the Hunger Games with no one working together but everyone trying to get to the top (at the expense of the patron). Where is the management for this place? Do they know what teamwork means? I waited 25 minutes for service after being seated and had to ask for service 4 times to 3 people before finally being served. I watched wait staff stand around with nothing to do and ignore us because clearly we were outside their "zone". Not ready for prime time on this night. Once I got my food, it was good. Getting it was a challenge. Because the food is good, Joes is worth considering, however, if it is busy, eat at the bar or skip it.

Wonderful service. You must try the red sangria and the salmon Waldorf salad. Clean and all around great.

This place is awesome! Firs of all I love the industrial look of it and the atmosphere. It's perfect for a romantic date and also good to bring kids to. Bread they are serving and the dip is out of this world! Definitely one of my favorite places in Ardmore

This is literally my favorite restaurant and bar, my husband and my friends and I come twice a week, sometimes more. We Love all the staff, especially Reny the Manager and my personal favorites Ricky, Marta and Alberto. We are treated amazingly and love to have happy hour there with our group of friends, the food is incredible and consistent and the service is excellent and attentive, the best thing to have hit suburban square in a long time. We highly recommend it.

Dined at Not Your Average Joe's last night and had so much fun! We were a table of four and got seated fairly quickly. The space was once a movie theatre, and they show old movie clips which can be seen from both floors. I think this is such a great tribute. Each floor has large bars along with ample amounts of seating. Every table starts with homemade onion focaccia bread and this yummy cheesy dipping oil. Between the four of us we had a burger, pizza, enchiladas and steak tips. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Presentation was pleasant and what needed to be, was cooked to order. Service was excellent as well. They definitely had plenty of people working, without interfering with your dining experience. Everything was reasonably priced, including the drinks. Great addition to Suburban Square. I hope more options like this come to the shopping center. Tip: Try their maple roasted brussel sprouts... AHhhmazing

Popped in for lunch on Sunday with the fam- my hubby, me, our 5 yo and 2 yo. We were IMPRESSED!! We never know how our little one is going to act- she was actually an angel (which is rare) so we got to enjoy everything. The bread and olive oil was brought to our table very quickly- and it was really one of the best tasting I've had. I try to watch my carb intake but this bread made me cheat. I ordered the pineapple painkiller drink- delicious and STRONG! The movie clips playing on the wall was pretty cool, too. The kids enjoyed it, My salad was fresh and the dressing was perfect. A bad dressing could very well ruin my whole dining experience. The kids meals (burgers) were good, according to the kids. True because they ate most of it. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to us. The bar area looked awesome and the hostess mentioned that they are opening an upstairs deck bar area in the summer which would be fun for a night out, sans kids.

Sorry Joe! Being average is something you need to work up to. "Not Even an Average Joe" is more appropriate. What a koke. They must have paid people to write the other reviews. I've been in the restaurant industry for almost 30 years. I've seen 'em all and this place is a solid 2 out of 5 stars. We went for lunch after spending time in the Apple store. This was 7/2 at 12:30pm. Sat at the bar. The bartender was a kid. I get it...you have to start sometime. She was so bad she was actually cute. We ordered a house salad with grilled salmon. -Bowl was one of those white bowls that was so cheap the white was fading and chipped. -Salad was iceburg, a few cucumbers, some onions, and a tomato slice. Think Ruby Tuesday salad bar. -Salmon was cooked ok. -Oops! They forgot to dress the salad. We also ordered a 1/2 sandwich "Chicken BLT" and cease salad. -The whole thing looked like a six year old was allowed to make his own lunch. -The salad looked like left over romaine scraps with a PILE of Parmesan dust on top. -Oops we forgot to dress your salad as well sir. -Oops we forgot to put croutons on your cease salad. -The chicken on the sandwich was black and hard from being in the deep fryer too long. -They did at least have bacon lettuce and a tiny tomato slice on the sandwich. The roll was huge. It was not correct for a sandwich. We didn't have tough expectations went we went in for lunch. We just wanted a decent meal but it was so lousy.....we both actually laughed out loud when the food was delivered. When our airhead bartender/server finally stopped by she asked us "How's everything"? Before, and I mean before we could even open our mouths she had turned around and walked away. Again, she was so bad she was almost cute. 2 Ice teas - House salad with grilled salmon - 1/2 salad 1/2 sandwich Total $35.00 before tip. Avoid! - You'll do better at any chain restaurant, and certainly better locally.

Amazing gluten free menu. My daughter said it was the best restaurant she has been to since being diagnosed with celiac 2 years ago. As a gluten eater, the food was also very good and the service was as well.

Second time we are trying to get a table and was told there is a 30 minutes waiting at the bar. In the meantime half of the tables are empty and bar area filled with people waiting to be seated.

My husband and I had the good fortune to try out NYAJ's during the soft opening. Even though the servers were new and the kinks were supposedly getting "worked out", everything was phenomenal. Service was top-notch, and all our food was amazing. I wanted to order everything on the menu, but our choices (cheesesteak egg rolls, Waldorf salad, mustard-crusted chicken, and herb-crusted haddock) were delicious. I really appreciated that the server made menu suggestions and recommendations -- but you absolutely cannot go wrong with anything you order here. Pro tip: don't forget to save room for the "peanut butter thing" for dessert. You'll thank me later.

The absolute goodness of their gluten free bread and dipping oil alone were enough to make me cry tears of joy, then I saw the vast gluten-free menu and was overcome with even more happiness! This is a celiac's dream!!! So many options, the bread is the best I've ever had... who knew glu free bread could be SO good?! It's from Gillian's bakery(sold at whole foods) and a must get! I love their drinks as well, the sangria is so refreshing! I have been back to this location 2 times in one week and am already planning my next visit

Had lunch here with a large group of friends from work. Our server was sweet and efficient. The food was so delicious! I had a burger over lettuce with oil and vinegar that was super yummy. Something for everyone and lots of custom orders. Great place for such a large group with diverse tastes. Hooray for Ardmore!!!

Maybe it was just my meal but the Mona Lisa and Moscow Mule lacked flavor and a quality that would make this restaurant desireable n the best thing about this place is the location and the deck. I sure hope they think of something fast to make food that has more flavor and complexity before it meets the same lackluster "effort" of St James Place.

Normally we go to Iron Hill, but we decided to stop by NYAJ and boy are we glad we did! The bartenders are great and you cannot beat a 4-7 happy hour 7 days a week! Try the nachos and sliders! We will definitely be back!

It's a great restaurant space. The place looks great. So ambience is amazing. The food is decent. Not bad, just okay. The service is courteous and polite. Heads up on ordering a child's pizza, it's a mans portion. Had the meatloaf for my entree and as far as meatloaf goes, it was good.

I have been here twice for dinner and twice for drinks and appetizers. Food is good but on the expensive side. The first dinner I was on the second floor outside with my son. Great service from April from Nevada. We started out with the edamame dumplings. Very tasty. My son had the mustard encrusted chicken which was delicious and I had the haddock which was also very good. The 2nd dinner was a little disappointing. We sat inside upstairs. We started with the mushroom flatbread. It was very good except on the corners of the Flatbread which they cut for you, was nothing. There was no cheese or mushrooms. For $9 you think they could spare some mushrooms. We shared the scallops which we both found delicious. We also shared the cheese steak egg rolls, which we both found awful. In conclusion, this place is great for drinks and the prices are reasonable. They have two bars one each floor. Food is decent and not worth the value in my opinion. I rather go to a bland looking place and have great food than the other way around which this place is.

We stopped by again on a beautifully sunny Mother's Day afternoon to enjoy some fun drinks and appetizers out on the rooftop patio. Our umbrella-ed table gave us a terrific view from high atop Suburban Square. It was the perfect spot. The Sangria was delicious; the choice of appetizers lacking. This is now the third time we've come to NYAJ and, the third time we've struggled to find anything appealing to eat. The menu is bizarre: there's such an effort to include dishes that aren't run of the mill that it leaves folks with traditional palates not much to choose from. Okay, perhaps I have boring, unsophisticated taste but throw me a bone here. Cheesesteak egg rolls and Thai chicken lettuce wraps sounded too fussed up with an odd flavor combo. We figured nachos would be a safe bet, but they were a small stack of giant chips dolloped with some cheese and chipotle chicken. Cumin sour cream and some corn and avocado pieces were garnishes. It was a fail. I say: come for drinks on the spectacular patio but only after you've eaten at home. N.B. There was much table shuffling up on the patio because there are too few umbrellas to protect diners from the bright sun. Folks kept moving around when umbrella tables emptied. NYAJ should look into getting twice the number of umbrellas....even a retractable awning for the window wall...to make this an even more perfect outdoor spot.

I stopped in to order food to go and was greeted by Kereen. I was unsure about what to order and she took the time to go through different options and make recommendations for me. She even introduced me to the discount coupons available that I wasn't aware of. As a local to Sub Sq, I always have a great experience at the bar with both Katelyn and Tianna and was glad to have the same great experience ordering out. Thanks Kereen!

A comfortable and attractive venue for a sit down brunch or lunch while out and about on the Main Line. Outside seating was breezy and protected and the two inside levels and upper deck also looked cool and inviting. Only steps away from the Ardmore SEPTA rail station, my wife and I plan to come back for dinner some evening soon. Our server, Mitchell, was ever so kind and helpful. Fresh bread with freshly prepared Parmesan olive oil followed by two hearty Cobb salads and timely beverage refills made for a tasty and satisfying midday respite. Service was fast but not hurried and the final bill was surprisingly less than expected. A new "favorite" place to meet and eat in Suburban Square.

Not Your Average Joe's was a disappointment. For my second visit I would recap: decent food, cool atmosphere. slow service, and a sprinkle of plate/glass crashes near the kitchen. Overall, I have to give the experience 1 thumb down.

I came over on Thursday night for the first time. I liked the ambiance and the place was crowded. I sat at the bar and ordered. I had the grilled chicken salad. It was fresh and delicious. The bartender, Rick was awesome...he made my martini to perfection. I will definitely come back.

New "made from scratch" restaurant in Suburban Square. Innovative "mocktails", cesar dressing was outstanding, veggies were crisp and fresh. Scallops were tasty though one was very sandy. The pearl couscous was the best part of the dish. Also tried: the salmon and cheese steak egg roll. Both were fresh, tasty, but nothing too outstanding. Good for families. Outdoor seating.

I loved this place! The food was excellent!! I had the salmon. It was fresh, well cooked, and came in an attractive arrangement on the plate. The waiter worked with my picky eaters and we had multiple people come to see if we were ok and to let us know that our food would be arriving soon(we let them know we had a time limit) The manager Reni came over to see how the service and the food were. He was polite, kind, and easy to talk with. Definitely make a reservation at this point. It is a new restaurant on the Main Line and EVERYONE wants to try it. People were getting turned away at the door.

Another great place to eat added to an area that desperately needed it. The Eastern Main Line used to be a dead zone for restaurants, now there are at least 5 new places added in the last year or so that have food good enough that you'd actually consider returning. Hooray! Not Your Average Joe's has a terrible name, but good food and good atmosphere and great service.

Enjoyed it even if a tad too noisy at the height of the dinner hour. I liked my meal of pork tenderloin and until eating them here I had no idea that I liked Brussels sprouts . As people filtered out after eating, the decibel levels declined and conversation became more manageable. I'd go back for round two.

My wife went here and found it be very excellent. We really enjoyed the food. The have a very broad menu to like a something for everyone type menu. Their razmojito was the greatest mojito I've ever had. The goat cheese for the goat cheese salad was perfectly matched with every item on the salad. I love this place not to mention the decor was really cool.

We were there after the 6/23 storm, and the experience was truly wonderful. Our waiter was Mitch, and he carefully followed all the instructions about food allergies for my dinner partner. One of the dishes needed more cooking and the Chef came to our table to express apologies. ( A really nice guy with great tattoos :).. He then ordered dessert for us to compensate. We were blown away by how gracious and responsive he was, and Mitch was a delight. I will be back again and again. What a fabulous addition to our Ardmore Restaurant community. (And the culliflower (sp?) mash was mind-blowing~!) Five Star KUDOS for this Fun and Fab restaurant~!!

Hope this place doesn't get too big as a chain restaurant, because it has kind of a privately-owned feel at the 2 locations I've been to, and I plan on hitting this one up in Ardmore frequently.

As the name states Not Your Average Joe's is not average, a great family dining experience that would put a smile on everyone's face. Other than our small hiccup involving the discount the meal was great and worthy of 4 1/2 stars. When considering Not Your Average Joe's for a family dinner you can be assured an above average night. My family and I decided to try Not Your Average Joe's a new restaurant in Suburban Square. The menu had a wide variety of choices from global to classics you had as a kid. The waiters were very friendly and seemed excited to have us as their guests, providing their expert insight on some of the meals. Before ordering we were given a wonderful bucket of homemade bread accompanied by a very tasty dip. The food took just as long as expected and looked great once arriving. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal and my meatloaf was terrific. Their so called "claim to fame" dessert the peanut butter thing didn't get it done for me but the rest of my group loved it. My only complaint is we were not given the discounts for attending the nightly happy hour which would have made their delicious nachos only $5. Because of this I rate the service a solid B. When you walk in to this converted movie theater you get the feel of what it once was. On the back wall of the main dining area there were projections of old movie trailers giving you the presence of what it once was. Other features include a second level, two bar areas and a modern look with exposed piping. Prices may be seen as a bit steep but once you get your plate you will know why. Proportions are well within price level as you get what you pay for. Plates are big and glasses are even bigger as many of their signature drinks are endless.

My girlfriend and I decided to try the place since we live right around the block. We made a reservation, good thing we did since the place was packed. There was not an empty seat at the bar area. There was a ton of staff near the front to greet you and a bunch of runners taking patrons to their tables. We were escorted to the 2nd floor area with a great look over the main floor along with the large projection screen, the wood-fired oven/pizza area, and a slight glimpse into the kitchen. The waitress came by extremely quickly and continued this trend throughout the meal, especially as I kept drinking all of my water. We decided to order some of the basics to give them a try for our first time. We ordered the onion soup, cheesesteak eggrolls, nachos, and a burger. To our surprise all the food was brought to us at once which was a bit overwhelming but worked out well since we were sharing everything and we able to move plates back and forth to each other. The soup was great! My gf loves the broth and the cheese (she isn't a big fan of the onions) she devoured it for the most part before I was able to give it a taste and it was on point. The nachos were flavorful with chicken and cheese on every chip - it was nice to finish the top row and not just be left with chips without any cheese or meat left. The eggrolls were solid, loved the mustard on the plate, just wish there was a little more, but the meat was very tasty. The burger was great as well, but the fries stole the show for me. The staff was great, food was great, environment was great, and it's right around the corner from us. We will be back a lot! Definitely worth a try!

Good variety of choices and an excellent upstairs outdoor venue with umbrellas which is delightful if weather is mild. Down-stairs dining area more traditional sports-bar type atmosphere . Overall a pleasant lunch spot.

Ok, I would've posted this review immediately after our experience but I was busy. My family and I went to average joes today for lunch. Loved this place. Decor was fun and inventive, atmosphere was inviting and fresh. Our apps were delicious. Tuna wontons : half cucumber and half wonton at the reccomendation of our server Bridget. Bridget was not just a server she is an amazing person who understood my families every want and need right down to putting a Disney Jr show on HER cell phone for my 3 yr old to watch bc he was getting antsy. She also got his kids meal out super fast bc he was starving. I will ask for her every time I go to Joe's. I also told all my girlfriends who amazing she was so I'm sure they'll be requesting her as well. In a nutshell Bridget made our service effortless while maintaining professional and informative. You couldn't get a better server. Anyway, our meals were tasty and creative. The chef really has a nice menu. There is a great variety. I reccomend you go there now! You will be happy you did. Details are not overlooked. Even my takeout containers had stickers with the items and date. I will be back this week. I hope they aren't out of the peanut butter thing.

My husband and I were in town visiting my family and we came here on a Sunday afternoon. We loved the decor it was very trendy. Our server was also fantastic very knowledgeable and attentive. We came and had about a five minute or less wait which was great since my two year old nephew was with us. The food was very fresh and I loved my veggie burger and the bread with the dipping oil. However two people in our party got burgers and thought they were a little dry. They were also very kid friendly. We would come back.

I've been twice already and this place rocks.. We like to sit at the bar and drink and eat and the staff behind the bar is really nice and helpful... They recommended the pork tenderloin main course and they were spot on... This dish is one of the best I've ever had and I work in the restaurant business.. The tenderloin is sliced over chipotle mashed sweet potatoes and a large amount of crispy brussel sprouts were on the side.. I can say this if my mom would have made brussel sprouts like that when I was a kid, I would not have turned my nose up and said no way..The beer selection is top notch and they also have a great wine selection.. I've also had the buffalo chicken pizza here which had so much chicken on it that I had to take 2 slices home, and I have a hearty appetite.. You must check this place out if you have not been yet..

We have been to Not Your Average Joe's twice. The food was good both times. The bread is soooo good. The service the first time could not have been better. The service could not have been worse the second time. I asked to see the manager and he didn't come to the table. We finally just left. I was glad to see this restaurant come to Ardmore but won't be anxious to return.

What a great place. We had a wonderful server, great food and fun atmosphere. Our server asked if there were any dietary restriction right away which I appreciated since I'm gluten free. She couldn't have been nicer with great suggestions. The food was terrific, flavorful and hot. Can't wait to go back again. So glad they are in Ardmore.

I had high hopes for Joe's after seeing reviews on Yelp, but in the end I was nonplused. This is an ok place in a chain restaurant sort of way (think Friday's or Chillies), but it doesn't stand up to the competition in the area. The two times I visited, the welcome staff was laughably distracted, disorganized and unengaged (note: If you call and they say that you don't need a reservation...don't believe them). This is probably because they are new and still working out the kinks. Our servers were fantastic and more than made up for the underwhelming receptions we received. The space is beautiful (particularly the deck), but in the end this is a restaurant and the food needs to speak for itself. Unfortunately, everything we have tried simplistic in flavor and generic in execution.

Was so excited to try out this new restaurant in Suburban Square. However, an hour after ordering, we still had not received our food. We only had an allotted time for lunch, so we asked our waitress to box up our orders (before they even came to the table). That took another 20 minutes. On my way out of the restaurant, i slipped and fell, hurting my knee, only to find that the floor was completely covered in oil. Terrible experience, will never be returning.

I made a reservation for my daughters birthday for 10 people. When we arrived they claimed no reservation and only table to fit 10 was taken. They were completely unaccomodating and only offered we could wait until that table finished. The manager asked me to verify who i spoke to when i made the reservation. If you do plan to go be sure to verify who takes your reservation. Not sure it would have mattered because they wont offer any alternatives.

After waiting 40 minutes for a table, we were seated at a table for two upstairs. The waitress was friendly and brought us bread and oil for dipping which was mixed with cheese. I think it would have been better without the cheese. The other diner had tomato basil soup which was excellent. The other diner also ordered herb encrusted haddock with mashed potatoes and cole slaw. The meal was delicious except that the potatoes were Luke warm. Later- almost at the end of the meal - hot mashed potatoes were delivered. I had a Manhattan which was not as good as the one's I make at home. My scallops were delicious. The atmosphere is very nice with excerpts of old movies playing on a large screen to reflect shay the restaurant is in an old movie theater. The bill was reasonable and we will return.

Tonight was my first time dining here and while I loved the food, decor and ambiance of the restaurant, the service ruined the experience for me. When she came to our table she lacked knowledge of the drink and food menus and had to leave twice to find out answers to our questions. She disappeared after our drink order so long that we ended up walking up to the bar to order more drinks. When taking our order we had to repeat ourselves because she seemed confused and the order was still wrong when it arrived. We never had a chance to tell her it was wrong because after we received the food (from another server) she never came back except to drop the check. I would consider trying the restaurant again based upon the ambience and food, but hopefully with a more knowledgable and present server.

Just had my third dinner at NYAJ's and it has only gotten better each time! Cheers to Chef Will for his willingness to accommodate an unusual food allergy and also to our waitress Lauren for going above and beyond to make our meal amazing. This is a go to restaurant when you want flavorful, consistent food! So glad we have this option on the mainline:))

Over-the-top Service I have a series of very complicated, rare allergies (citrus [lemon, lime, orange etc.], pineapple, and white wine) and am used to getting weird looks and even being told I can eat next to nothing on the menu. I am a huge foodie who has had lots of experience in the restaurant industry so I understand how difficult it can be to accommodate my peculiar situation. My waitress, Lauren, and the chef Will went above and beyond to not only make sure every item that was presented to me was safe, but also incredibly delicious! Will was kind enough to present every dish to me and make many of the items from scratch, to-order, and it is some of the best service (both front and back of the house) I have ever received. Not to mention that the chicken enchiladas I ate were some of the most authentic tasting enchiladas I have ever had (even without the citrus), and I lived in the Southwest for many years and just got back from Mexico today! I live in New York and only am in the area to visit family, but it is clear that every time I visit this will be a must-eat location!

We really enjoyed our first visit. Great variety on the menu...plus a really nice kids menu with choices other than the normal chicken fingers and fries variety. We all really enjoyed our meals. Can understand why they're so busy all the time!

Wow. This place is just great! We came here last night for dinner to catch up with old friends. The place looks great, food was awesome but best was the service! Tasha was more than calm, cool and collective and those dimples! Everything was great, can't wat to come back and see Tasha!!!

Four of us came for lunch and were very pleased with this new addition to the Main Line restaurant scene, which finally seems to be improving. The service was excellent and the food quite good and reasonably priced. We ordered two fish entrees, a salad and sirloin tips, and all were tasty and nicely presented. I will definitely give dinner a try.

I've decided to take back my first review and ask for forgiveness. Not Your Average Joe's is indeed a smashing place to enjoy a bit. The atmosphere invokes a setting that is both casual yet intimate for each table. The staff is generally stellar (except for some of the folks that work the top, outside section. One in particular always creates an awkward dinner). The food is almost always on point, and the cocktails (though a little too inventive) are refreshing. Ps- definitely get the nachos...but check the nutrition values online for everything else. You'll be shocked at how "above average" bad everything is.

My small family got to done at average joes yesterday and we really enjoyed our evening. The old time movie projector showing old movies really is a cool touch. We weren't there for the bar just the restaurant and there was plenty of staff and everyone was very friendly. The food was very good. The fresh focaccia bread is delicious, the Mediterranean chicken and mozzarella sandwich was very good. We got the side of mashed potatoes instead of the fries just for something different and they are real mashed spuds! The almond goat cheese salad with a lemon vinaigrette was very fresh and the goat cheese medallions were nicely toasted but too much for our liking. We only used 1 of the 3 and that was perfect for us. We Also got the nachos which were interestingly built as a leaning tower of half moon tortillas. They were good with a jalapeño jack cheddar and fresh corn salsa as a base. Our 2 year old loved them! We will be coming back for sure to try the happy hour and enjoy the outside seating when it's not too hot for our little man!

But it is indeed average. We have been twice and were drawn back by the GF options. The meat tends to be pretty good but avoid the more non traditional foods. The Vietnamese broth was strange and though edible, not great. The salmon that topped it was great though. As places go to duck out if the chore of dinner- I would choose someplace else. But if you do go be prepared to stick with the basics and pay a higher price for them.

I'm NOT your average Joe so this must be my place! Fortunately for me on this beautiful Saturday it was. I blew in for and early lunch and sat at the downstairs bar. I usually don't mention folks by name but after an hour of Gerald's attentions' I have added him to my bartenders Hall of Fame. He was exceptional and I understand it was his first month. Kudos to management for hiring him. As "he" was a Gerald, he wasn't dressed as a Victoria's Secret model but that was just my bartender dream. I won't hold that against him. Needless to say my CUSTOMER SERVICE was outstanding. As I was perusing the menu I was served warm focaccia with this amazing cheese and olive oil dipping sauce. They give you a little spoon which leads you to believe your should use it to put the sauce on the bread. Ignore it! Rip of a chunk of warm bread and dip it as it should be done. It was a wonderful beginning. Some folks call the ATMOSPHERE here industrial. That may be true but not so much as to be considered austere. I can see how a wide variety of patrons would feel comfortable here. I ordered Anything But Average Meatloaf for $13. It was fresh mozzarella stuffed meatloaf, with sautéed veggies, mashed potatoes and bbq gravy. Check out my pic and you'll see it was plated beautifully. The temperature was perfect and some care was taken with the vegetables instead of just being an afterthought. I was impressed. I very much enjoyed my meal but I found it overall just a bit under seasoned. Did every component have seasoning? Yes, of course just not quite enough. I would have appreciated a little more zip, Overall I had a solid four star experience and as it's close to my home I'm looking forward to future visits.

We went to celebrate my cousin's 23rd birthday. The service was nothing short of amazing. Melissa was our server and she made us feel like we were at a family gathering where she was the host. The food was absolutely delicious. The wait time was really short. We all had a great time. Five stars on every level. Definitely will be back.

I had been wanting to try this place for a while and we finally stopped by here on a Saturday for dinner. We didn't have reservations and the wait to sit inside was 45 mins to an hour! So, I would definitely recommend making a reservation. Luckily, it was only the two of us and there was no wait to sit out on the patio. So, we missed the movie clips/whatever they have going on inside, but the rooftop patio was awesome! It was really nice and offered a great view. The complimentary bread comes with some dip with oil and cheese in it. Both amazing! I wasn't in the mood for drink drinks, but I got the raspberry lemonade, which was great and bottomless. My fiance got the buffalo Caribbean chicken tenders and a side caesar salad which he said was "good, but not amazing". I had the sirloin tips which I loved. The sirloin tips were over mashed potatoes and spinach with balsamic vinaigrette, it was perfect. Our waitress was great and attentive. The prices are reasonable and portion sizes were good. I have also since tried their pizza which is really good. I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu. Really hoping this place lasts in suburban square!

  • Frank G.

This is a really great place. Didn't give it five stars because their pizza could have been better. The calamari was one of the best I ever had. Most of all, the staff was insanely awesome, the ambiance was out of this world, and the open kitchen offers a symphony of good food made by cooking staff straight out of Top Chef. It's definitely not your average restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised.

  • Yayi Z.

Great food and atmosphere. Also superior service. One of the better places to eat outdoors in the area because of the balcony. Not many outdoor decks for dining outside of the city. Have only been here for happy hour which goes until 7 which is awesome. Their happy hour specials are only average, though. $3 drafts, $4 mixed drinks and $5 select wines plus three items of food. There are better places in the city. They don't cheapen the pour on the mixed drinks which is a huge plus. Too many places do during happy hour. Sliders are fantastic. Wings are good but not great. Nachos are below average, however. Their calamari is good and so is their pizza. Overall, a solid dining choice.

What a lovely new bar\restaurant on the Main Line! Be sure to check it out! I have to thank Danielle, our server at Chickie's and Pete's in the PHL airport for this tip...I hadn't heard of this place until Danielle started talking about it with HIGH regard. We could not wait to get back from our trip to try it out! We went on a Friday night around 7:30 and it was MOBBED. Wait time for a table was over an hour, but we could wait by the bar or they would call us when our table was ready. We opted for the bar upstairs which was also MOBBED! As it turns out, our timing was pretty good. We eyed up a couple at the bar that was finishing their meal and got a couple seats in about 10 minutes, not bad at all considering the crowd on hand. We cancelled our reservations and had dinner at the bar. The Focaccia...House made, it's very good bread. Dip it into the romano cheese, garlic, red pepper flakes, and EVOO and its insane! My wife, who gave up bread for lent, was eating it from the spoon. We went thru 2 servings of this phenomenal dip while waiting for our dinner to arrive... My Black Bean soup was excellent. Just a bit of heat with other goodies in there, it wasn't just a cup of Black Beans, which some black bean soups seem to be...I had the pork tenderloin as an entree, which comes with sweet potato mash and a side of the famous maple roasted brussel sprouts. I do not like brussel sprouts. But I was loving these things...Sweet at first followed by delicious roasted goodness...give them a shot...the sweet potato mash was also outstanding! Could almost be a dessert item! My pork tenderloin was served medium(I LOVED hearing this from our server) and it was amazing! My wife had the Ahi Tuna served on cucumber slices and Rosemary Scallops over couscous. We really stuffed ourselves, but I already knew I was going to try the motlen chocolate cake. Altho the cake was a bit small, it was delicious and the presentation was fantastic! We had such a good time, we came back less than 48 hours later...got a table upstairs this time, right on the edge of the balcony...Went with the Carolina Pecan Chicken which came with the sweet mash, and I subbed roasted carrots for the spinach...the chicken was really good, well coated in pecans and cooked to perfection. My wife went with the Turkey Burger, no bun. The burger had bits of egg whites in it, and it comes on a bed of spinach and Quinoa, both of which she enjoyed thoroughly! We got the Peanut Butter thing for dessert...Being a chocolate guy, I wasn't sure about this item...I'd be more willing to get it if it was the chocolate thing, but it sounds interesting and my wife wanted a taste so we got it...I was NOT let down! plenty of chocolate in there, it wasn't overwhelmingly peanut buttery. The server "finishes" this dish table side by pouring a couple shots of hot caramel and hot chocolate sauce on top...I'm gonna ask for all chocolate sauce next time, but that is just the chocolate lover in me... Your check comes on a little clipboard with an iPod attached to it. You use the iPod to rate\review your dining experience. Pretty clever. The decor inside is very cool! Industrial, open, the movie projector hanging in the middle of the place with 80's movie previews playing. Big fan of this place, I feel so lucky to have stopped at Chickie and Pete's in Terminal E for breakfast! Thanks Danielle!

Lucky I went with four other people because they have a large menu. We picked three appetizers. The philly cheese steak egg rolls, chicken dumplings and the tuna wontons. The dumplings were ok but the others were fantastic. I got the sirloin tips for dinner. It was just fantastic. The small soft peaces of medium sirloin on the creamy garlic mash Potato's with spinach and balsamic was just so good! Everyone at our table enjoyed there meals. From the blue burger to mustered crusted chicken. I find this is a great place to take groups and even picky eaters. With the size of the menu you can find something for anyone to enjoy even gluten free. It's a modern American style with Asian influence kinda food. We say inside but they had a really nice looking outside area I hope to sit in next time I go.

Went here on a Friday afternoon for lunch with co-workers. Although we had to wait longer than we wanted, the staff was extremely friendly. Our server was great and while taking our order and explaining the menu she mentioned that they were more than willing to make adjustments to anything to make changes to any dishes for any dietary restrictions, allergies etc. I always appreciate a restaurant who is so willing to be accommodating. The portions were very decent and lunch was very filling- no complaints. I had a very hefty portion of chicken on my garden salad and my 2 co-workers enjoyed their burgers. I love the environment, especially the downstairs with the looping of some old, classic movie scenes. I was a little disappointed that the upstairs outside balcony was closed because it was such a nice day, but that would be my only complaint. I would definitely dine here again if I was in the area.

It's okay. Loud and the food is middling. We weren't impressed with the green pasta but the bread and the dipping sauce is great. We poured the dipping sauce into the pasta to improve it. Prices were OK. Kind of a family place.

My friend and I had lunch here today and everything was perfect. Our server, Valeria, was really friendly and informative and gave us a lot of great suggestions. The focaccia bread with the dipping oil/cheese combo was awesome. We got the mustard chicken (so flavorful and tender) and the Mona Lisa salad (also delicious) and split both - and they split the portions in the kitchen for us. Our whole meal came out to less than $30. It was overall a great experience and we will definitely be back. Their happy hour and specials sound worth checking out. So if you are looking for somewhere in Suburban Square (or even just the Ardmore area), I'd *highly* recommend coming here!

Begin Rant: Wow, Main Liners, just wow. You mean to tell me your plain chicken sandwich and your boring salad were plain and boring? GET OUT OF TOWN. No, seriously. GET THE EFF OUT. Please leave. I would like to keep decent food here, and apparently I can't do that if you keep Yelping things to death. "My pizza dough, bread, and pasta wasn't gluten-free, like it hasn't been for all of food's existence." "My plain white fish was plain and white." "My unadorned chicken sandwich was unadorned and chicken-y." WAH WAH WAH. End Rant. Begin Review: Food is served to a high standard. Serving sizes are generous but not obscene. The menu is broad enough that even my mom (pickiest of food pickers) can switch between a few choices. I have admittedly had one or two things come out a bit overcooked but still pretty tasty, and nothing burnt. The seasonal vegetables and menu customizations keep this place from feeling like a typical chain. If you order a salad or a burger, I have no patience for your complaints - you know what you are getting. Service is a bit hit or miss, but they have been busy every single time I've been in here, so I don't hold it against them. Even the most rushed and least attentive server was patient and polite in her interactions. More often than not, the staff have been on point, quick with refills, good with suggestions, and offered great service. The ambiance is cool - I'm willing to agree with everyone that the film clips on the wall are a nice distraction. It distracts the whining children, housewives, and elderly, (and sometimes even me), but is less invasive than a full on tv program playing like at a sports bar. They just opened the marquee out front for spring/summer drinking & dining al fresco, which promises to be hopping. The real star here is the drinks. The cocktails and beer selection look tempting, but the secret surprise is the mocktails. Bottomless drinks include standard soda selections, six flavor varieties of lemonade and iced tea, and a raspberry lime rickey - divine! For a per-serve price you can also get more elaborate options in proper cocktail glasses, which come out looking like milkshakes and deliver on punch (you won't even remember it's non-alcoholic). Between the bread (stellar - but that's already been established by everyone else), solid, seasonal food options cooked near perfection and served in ample portions, and the fun range of drink choices, I enjoy coming here a lot.

I like this place a lot. I am gluten free and I really appreciate the extensive effort this place makes in ensuring there are great options. With that being said, not all dishes hit the mark in terms of cohesive flavors coming together. The gluten free kale bruschetta had almost a sour taste and the green machine gluten free pasta dish was very oily. This place could be unbeatable with a little more work on the menu. I love the atmosphere and the gluten free bread is incredible.

We went to NYAJ on a Sunday around 6:15 and were pleasantly surprised. They have a lot of seating options to choose from and two bars. They have outdoor seating on the lower level and well as a patio with umbrellas upstairs. We only had food this visit but I would like to return to try some of their cocktails! They had a lot of drinks that sounded delicious. We started our meal with the complimentary bread and garlic/cheese dipping sauce which was delicious!! We then enjoyed the boneless chicken wings which were so moist and flavorful. The wings were served with a pineapple salsa that complimented the wings nicely. We ordered the mustard chicken and meatloaf. The mashed potatoes were ambrosial. The portion size is huge and enough for two meals. Our waitress, April, was fantastic and very helpful when we were deciding on what to order. We couldn't believe how crowded the restaurant was for a Sunday evening so make a reservation. We will definitely be back!

Nice place, superb service. The Ahi tuna wantons...Awesome, I tasted the Sweet blue Burger ...Awesome and the Lemon Crusted chicken is rediculous-ly good. I read the reviews, some of them were just average but maybe I came on a good day. It's definitely worth giving a try.

It was kind of weird here...the food was fine, my salmon a bit over cooked but still enjoyable, the waitstaff were borderline rude to us.

  • Craig H.

I like the place though not as much as some of the reviewers. The restaurant has a wall size movie screen which plays short clips of movies going back in time. Watching then brought back a life time of good memories though I suppose one could also say it squelches good conversation. My wife and I both sat on the same side of the table. I wonder how thighs would, have gone if one of us had our back to the screen. The food was well prepared though the recipes could perhaps use a little tweaking. We ordered calamari which was crispy but dry. It came with roasted peppers. It needed some kind of sauce. My burger was juices but could have had more flavor. The restaurant takes reservations but we still had to wait a few minutes. The hostess could practice smiling a bit more. Just a thought to improve the first impression.

Mixed emotions about Not Your Average Joe's. The first two times I went here were good, no problems with an order or service. The cheesesteak egg rolls were very good and I got them both times. Third time here, not so good. Ordered the egg rolls again and they were VERY rare. I do not eat undercooked meat and I told our waitress and she took them back, and gave us another order. They were still rare, I honestly thought they just brought out the same ones. I didn't want to cause a fuss so I ate the cooked meat. I ordered a sandwich and it was very soggy. My sister ordered fish and she said it was good but the fries were overcooked and she didn't eat them. We did not leave feeling satisfied. I will be back because they have good food, they just have to pay more attention to what they are putting out.

I've tried this place a few times and always liked it while feeling they obviously screwed up some of the big stuff. So I'd like to rate then at 3.5 stars There are old school movie clips playing on a giant screen on the main room. I really dig that and any old movie fan will have a grand Ole time recalling the stars of yesteryear. The bread and cheese/oil as the table starter is one of the best parts of the meal and I feel shame asking for thirds of that. I think the appetizers are the best part of the menu. They have the most interesting flavor combinations and are usually well prepared. But not always. I've had cold nachos and not crispy chicken tenders. Actually all of the dishes with chicken have had something wrong. Cold, burnt, or bland? Take your choice. The rest of the menu is kinda boring. There were two items I tried to order that were sold out, so I think the message is clear that the large menu gravitates to a few choices. But the fries are good!

Visited: Thursday - March 26, 2015 - 11:00 in the morning I sat at the bar/counter and ordered the soup and salad combination. The server asked if I'd like focaccia bread with a parmesan red pepered flake and garlic dip. I quickly responded - yes. The bread was very good and the dip was addictive. The tomato basil soup was deliciously light and flavor packed. The waldorf salad was properly seasoned and refreshing. I was presented a wooden board with the bill and an IPod. The server requested a survey of my dining experience using the IPod. I politely declined completing the survey. The manager indicated that the table-side survey was standard and the diner was under no obligation to complete. I plan to return soon.

Has a good atmosphere but never made past the bar. Hostess said our party was next on the list. Then we waited 25 minutes as pushier people were sat in front of us. Went to figure out what was going on then waited another 15 minutes until we just left. Shame. Bartender was nice though.

This is a great restaurant with a fresh, interesting menu selection. The nachos and the strawberry shortcake were amazing. The salmon and the scallops were very good as well. The service was a bit slow and the restaurant was very noisy...but the food made up for it.

I decided to try this place with a couple of girlfriends on a Tuesday night, not expecting too much of a crowd because of how new Not Your Average Joe's is. I was completely mistaken--the place was packed with Main Liners getting their drink on. Clips from classic movies were playing on a big screen and there was a bar both upstairs and downstairs (bathrooms are upstairs). Not Your Average Joe's has an industrial-chic vibe going on, which lends itself well to the open space. After waiting about twenty minutes, the hostess led us to a high-top near the bar and we got there in time to catch the end of happy hour--cheap select drafts, $5 wine, $2 sliders, and $4 nachos. Our sever walked up soon after and got our drinks in. Overall she was very friendly and the bar has cool tech for ordering/paying, but she was very busy the entire time because of how many people were there. It took us half of our meal to get water. Complimentary bread (delicious focaccia baked in house) and olive oil (mixed with cheese--amazing!!) arrived soon after our drinks and we gorged ourselves on the dip. I went with a pepper jack burger, medium rare, which came with fries (~$11). The burger was dry, but the fries were good and they were even better after I dipped them in the olive oil (extra was brought to us because we gulped down the first plate immediately). My friend needs a gluten-free diet, and she was overjoyed to see that about 3/4 of the menu was available as a gluten-free meal--and this included the complimentary bread baskets. Kudos! Not your average place indeed. I love you, "hot and trending" page on Yelp.

Love the atmosphere of this place and probably the best bar spirits selection I have seen in a while. Portions are slightly small for the price point, but the food is excellent! Gumbo and chicken with cauliflower mash was out of this world! My only question is why they had a server deliver to the bar and not the bartender? To each their own, but homeboy almost dropped all the plates trying to reach over us?? Weird. But definitely will not leave disappointed.

Literally my favorite restaurant and bar, my husband Patrick and I come at least twice a week, sometimes more and we just had my daughters 14th birthday last Friday and had 20 , 14 year old girls, the food was amazing the service is spectacular and everyone was so happy . We Love all the staff, especially Reny the Manger and many favorites especially Ricky and Marta and Alberto, we miss Lauren terribly my kids miss her.. We are treated fantastically and love to have happy hour there with our group of friends , the best thing to have hit suburban square in a long time. We highly recommend it.

So far this has been a tail of two restaurants... I was here for the soft opening with my wife and our two friends. We had a wonderful experience. Great cocktails, very unique food that was very tasty, fun helpful staff that guided us over the course of the night. Food came out hot and delicious. Super cool atmosphere with clips from old movies being projected onto the wall. Exposed brick and iron beams and high ceilings made for an open concept that was very aesthetically pleasing. However one a Monday, I got an email saying to stop by for 6 dollar martini's and other specials for Monday. Now the wife and I were just running errands for the evening and weren't dressed up. I have no way of proving this but a believe part of our bad service we experienced was because I was wearing my athletic clothes from coaching and my wife was in the same from working out. I will say that the bar was busy, but not full however we sat waiting for drinks for 15 minutes. The bar staff was SWAMPED with getting drinks made for the waitstaff who was serving tables. The experience was lack luster to say the least. I will try again but not if its anything like our second experience.

  • Janelle J.

Went there for the first time during happy hour and really enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. The happy hour specials weren't extensive or anything special, but the drinks and food were great. We ordered the wings, nachos, and the sliders to share and thought they tasted better than average! Our bartender was nice and fast. The only reason for the four stars is because of the foul-mouthed, loud, and obnoxious man sitting at the bar near us. It would've been nice if a staff member would've have told him to keep it down. Many other people around the bar kept looking at him and it was uncomfortable. It shouldn't be up to a fellow patron to say anything to him. I get it is the main line and some folks are obnoxious and elitist, but this was not necessary and hampered the experience.

I'll try to be positive, but only 1 thing comes to mind: 1. Good happy hour prices The rest is below average, which is so unfortunate given the lack of outdoor dining on the Main Line. I've eaten here a total of 5 times, and each time the food has deteriorated in quality. My most recent visit convinced me that it would have to be my last for dining. I ordered a simple crispy goat cheese salad with a raspberry dressing, it had 2 mushy COLD not crusty, not appetizing goat cheese "balls" that resembled something akin to a male anatomy (so sorry to say). The greens were wilted, and the blobby raspberry dressing was plopped on the salad, not even Tossed! It was gross! ( I returned the salad) The waiter left our remaining dirty dishes on the table long after we finished eating and after we moved them to the empty table next to us, the hostess sat people and attempted to place them BACK on our table! Talk about poor service! So, below average Joes will hopefully get back on track, but I'm not throwing my money into it anymore.

Really stoked about this place. Have only sat at the bar (at least five times), so I can't speak about table service, but everyone behind the bar is AWESOME. Marta always remembers my husband and I, and she's great at her job. On one occasion we were enjoying Michael's company and asked him for a recommendation - he suggested that my husband try the Mona Lisa salad (he's the kind of guy who throws tantrums over salads). Michael's recommendation was so spot-on that we ask for his opinion whenever he's working. Food is exceptional, especially for the area. Reminds me of Christopher's in Wayne. Friendly staff and darn good food. I'd also like to note that their menu is flexible for vegetarians and gluten free folk. Happy hour here goes till 7 and the specials are great. Can't wait to test out that rooftop bar!

I had a horrible experience when my grandmother and I went to this restaurant. The wait staff was very rude to us and it seemed as though they were looking down on us. Twice a waiter came by and offered everyone but us a slice of pizza while they waited although we had been waiting for the same amount of time if not longer. I hate to say it but the only difference between my grandmother and I and the rest of the customers was the color of our skin. People of color beware.

The name of this place is super ironic because the word I would use to describe the food, ambience and service is average. If anything Id say the food was slightly below average. Came here with my family for an early dinner: my mom ordered the Tuscan chicken sandwich and the chicken was so dry she could barely chew it, my boyfriend had a very mediocre hamburger, I got the Waldorf salad and it had like the worst parts of iceberg lettuce, I expect an entree salad to at least have good lettuce. My sister had the shrimp tacos which were actually decent, I'd recommend those of you try this place, which I don't recommend. We got the calamari as an app and the actual calamari was good but did not come With any dipping sauce or have any drizzled on it. The best part of the meal was the fresh bread basket and parmesan oil dip you get in the beginning of the meal. The service was good, just good. The actual place looked nice inside, as expected for a new restaurant, the seats were well-spaced and there were a good amount of booths and tables. I expected more from a bar/restaurant in suburban square. After the disappointing addition of iron hill brewery, this place does nothing to redeem ardmore.

Chain restaurant food! Sirloin tips were tough and Haddock literally had no taste. Garlic mashed potatoes were bland. The only good part of dinner were the rolls and the calamari. The service was great!

Very nice experience first time here. Thai chicken lettuce wraps are great. Friendly servers. Outdoor seating is s plus. Will definitely revisit!

Great Place. We picked to eat at Average Joes because of the roof deck but I wouldn't have minded if we sat inside because it had a very nice atmosphere. I had a marinated chicken breast sandwich with fries and a pomegranate ice tea lemonade. The service was great. Our waitress was very accommodating and patient. I'm looking forward to going back and trying something different.

The restaurant itself is a wonderful space with two floors and two nice bar areas. Our server Rachel was very nice but technology was not good for her. Ordering with a tablet meant she took a long time to 'write' Something down. Might be better to go back to pen and paper. When our food arrived it was served by two other severs. These two were incredibly rude. I ordered the Cobb salad. The server said he had a chicken salad. So all of us said we did not order that. He kept telling us he had the right table and that we were wrong. Eventually the other server said it was a Cobb salad and he slammed it down in front of me. Three of us ordered salads and were given a plate with three mystery dressings in cups on it. When we asked what they were, the server shrugged and said she would find out. It was then I was I informed my dressing of choice was unavailable. And they had given me another without asking. The salad was good, not great. And definitely not worth $15. Lettuce, chicken, blue cheese, corn and a tiny amount of bacon. Not a $15 meal. We didn't have dessert so I can't comment on them. I would give the restaurant another try. But the service needs repair. Perhaps educating servers on the food prior to putting them on floor may be better. And please get rid of the tablets for the waiters. Let them write stuff on paper. It's so much faster.

average is way too kind for this place. this place was disorganized and unpleasant with a confused staff who had bad attitudes. after being seated promptly, we had to get up and search for a server. when one of us asked for assistance, she looked at him with distain and disgust as if we were imposing on her free time. it took about 20 minutes to get a drink and another 20 just to order food. the food was presented well but bland, the drinks were short on the pour, and the salt shaker needed to be dislodged to use it. while our server sam did the best he could, he had no chance. hopefully, he'll get a job at a restaurant who caters to their customers and cares about their employees.
