I love shrimp tempura and ordered the entree. It looked amazing with 6 giant shrimp that looked cooked to perfection. However, the first bite told me they were cooked with oil that was not hot enough and were saturated with oil. All were the same, including the vegetables that came with it. I would not go back for the tempura.

Ordered the Fuji Sushi, and it made me happy. My tummy made some weird noises a few hours later but no signs of imminent danger. I recommend it.

Solid sushi with solid prices. Worth a try if you live in the area. Spicy roll combo is excellent. Would give 4.5 stars if I could.

I am honestly so shocked at the high reviews of this place. I can only assume these reviews were written by people who do not eat sushi often. When we first walked in, we were greeted with friendly servers and a slightly upscale decor, which led me to think this dining experience was going to be wonderful. We ordered sushi and sashimi combo, and the scallop bento box. The scallop bento box was actually a decent deal, with scallops, tempura, shumai, soup, and salad for $17. But, everything on this plate was cooked, so we had no problems. However, the sushi and sashimi were bad enough to leave sashimi pieces behind, which I've NEVER done at any sushi restaurant in my life. Some of the sashimi pieces were inappropriately cut, and also had a watery interior and funky color, which tells me their fish had been frozen. Their nigiri slices were even more oddly cut - thin, ripped, and sloppy. The person who had to eat the tuna nigiri literally referred to it as "jerky." Lastly, their spicy tuna avocado roll was 1/2 avocado, 1/4 tempura flakes, leaving only 1/4 of the filling to be spicy tuna. Talk about CHEAP. The sushi/sashimi here alone would get a flat ONE star. However, their kitchen food items seem fine, which bumps to a 2. And, like everyone said here, this place is BYO with super friendly staff, so I feel obligated to give a 3. But service alone is not enough to return to a sushi joint, so I definitely will NOT be returning.

Dear Tokyo roll, My boyfriend and I are slightly obsessed with you. I am not usually a "regular" anywhere because I like trying new places. I guess I am now a regular here though. We always get the Filet Mignon Carpaccio and the Tokyo roll to share. Such yumm, much delicious. They don't always have the carpaccio which forces us to make some some hard 2nd choice decisions. We have tried the 3 musketeers and untouchable roll and the salmon alvacado. They were all very good. Mt Fuji is also open pretty late on weekdays and we tend to eat later. Byob for the win.

Is it possible to overdose on sushi? I came here for a late weekend lunch and my friend and I had the place to ourselves. Our waitress was exceptionally friendly. She gave us lots of time to look over the menu and answered all of our questions about the food. We decided to go for a couple of appetizers and deluxe rolls, to be consumed family-style. It was definitely a feast for the eyes, in addition to the stomach! Everything was beautiful and yummy! I loved the citrus-infused water as well. My only complaint is that the prices are a little steeper than I expected. I've definitely had better sushi in the city for a much more affordable bill. Still, that is to be expected for the Main Line. I will almost certainly return.

I've lost count of how many times I've visited Mt. Fuji. I think it's safe to say it's one of my favorite restaurants of all time. I have never had a negative experience here. The food is always on point whether you're ordering sushi or something from the kitchen. The staff is very attentive and always willing to answer any questions you might have about a menu item. You will not be disappointed with a visit to Mt. Fuji. This restaurant is byob and there is a craft beer store and wine and spirits right in the same plaza. You really can't wrong.

Was looking for a sushi place near delco, and saw this place had good reviews. I'm really glad we went! We called ahead on our way there on a Saturday around 6pm. They said it would not be a problem seating our party of 4. We arrived and were seated right away, in a booth near the door. The restaurant was probably 80% full, with a few parties arriving around the same time as us. We all ordered different rolls to share, including the Mt. Fuji King Roll, Autumn of Philly Roll, Out of Control Roll, Yellowtail Roll, and Salmon Roll. We also got some hot green tea. As we were waiting for the food, our drinks were always filled, but the service was not overbearing. Our sushi did not take long to come out, probably around 15 minutes. Everything was tasty and satisfying. I do wish the spicy rolls were spicier...my mouth was not burning at all afterwards! I think the chefs could probably have less ingredients in each roll to bring out the flavors more in each, but overall, I was happy with my meal. A good choice for sushi in the burbs.

We came here with a group of 8 on a Saturday night. They were very accommodating when we had to change our reservation. Our server was incredibly patient and nice. She was also great about refilling my water glass about 12 times. I was very thirsty. I got an order of the Philly and spicy yellow tail rolls. YUM! They were great. My boyfriend got the spicy roll combo which was a great bang for his buck considering he got 18 pieces, soup and a salad for $17. I would definitely come back, especially considering that parking wasn't an issue.

Loooove the sushi here! I order from Mt Fuji atleast once a week and they always get my order right! Never any problems with the quality of the the sushi and the chicken fried rice is amazing!!

BYOB asian fusion on the main line. Despite the strip mall exterior, the interior is casual chic. BYOB is awesome and there is a beer store and liquor/wine store in the same strip mall. Sushi is good not great.

YUM!! Stopped in for lunch today. Excellent lunch specials for sushi, bento box, or hibachi items. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered the sushi lunch special - 3 rolls for $11. Can't beat that price! Spicy tuna, salmon avocado, and shrimp tempura rolls were all delightful and fresh. Special also comes with a miso soup to warm your bones. We also had the spider roll and the amazing tuna roll which was AMAZING!! Only complaint about the place was little gnats hanging around were a bit annoying! Otherwise decor is on point, cozy but eclectic. Would definitely be a great weekend date night place!

Legitimately would call this one of my new favorite restaurants, and I cannot wait to go back the next time I am in Pennsylvania. This is literally what I would call a gem restaurant. The decor is outstanding. Beautiful. Don't let me get started on the sushi. These perfectly crafted and fresh rolls are unlike anything I've tasted thus far. Gourmet, visually stunning, and dangerously tasty. The combination of rice with ingredients such as mushrooms, avocado, sweet potato and mango is spot on. Prices are extremely reasonable. The appetizers are amazing as well. Really just about everything here is outstanding. I dream about it at night and drool over photos of it throughout the day. Sounds like a 5 star establishment to me. Keep it up Mt. Fuji, without doubt coming back for more.

I'll give this place 3 1/2 stars, decor was beautiful and the sushi was good but nothing out of the ordinary. This is more of an upscale sushi restaurant for couples, definitely not for college students wanting to sake bomb. I missed it when kotatsu used to occupy this same exact location, their volcano rolls and rock n rolls were delicious! The main line definitely lost a gem when kotatsu was replaced .

I've been here multiple times and have always had an excellent meal. The sushi menu has unique and classic options that are all very tasty. My favorite is the dragon role--perfect! The teriyaki and rice dishes are prepared well but take a little long to cook. The lunch special is large and can easily satisfy. The waiters are all very patient, attentative and friendly. They have a beautiful sushi/sashimi special that comes out on a neon lit boat that makes a great presentation for guests. Overall, I have had a great experience every time I have been to the restaurant. BYOB.

After telling myself "I really need to try that place" every single time I see it when I go to the gym next door, my roommate and I finally opted to go here for some takeout sushi. I have never dined in, but my experience with popping in around dinner time on a Sunday to order some sushi was great! The staff was friendly, took our order right away, and we didn't wait more than 20 minutes for our food. The quality was just fine for the price (not my favorite, but enjoyable), and considering the location is in walking distance from my apartment, I can foresee picking up a bottle of wine from the wine & spirits next door and dining in next time.

Just went for dinner, had a great time! Got the fuji sushi dinner and a green tea ice cream. It was delicious! I was very impressed by the think cut of the fish on nigiri, great portion for the price. I tried to order some otoro sushi as well, but they didn't have any even though there were multiple toro dishes on the menu. Keep that in mind. Other than that though it was a great meal! Recommend it highly.

The restaurant is dim but not dark. Each table is softly lit from above. The accent lighting is a nice feature of the classy décor. The mellow electronic music plays at just the right level for conversation and relaxation. The food is fresh and delicious, and beautifully served on elegant oversize plates. All this gives the impression that dinner would be expensive (it's actually moderately priced, with BYOB) or that the staff might be snooty (they're actually very pleasant, quick and helpful). Parking is convenient in the little strip-mall's lot. Although other Yelpers have said they think Mt Fuji is good for kids, I think the ambiance is quite grown-up and romantic, and IMO only older or very well-behaved kids should come here. If I lived in the area I'd be a regular.

Very chill atmosphere, waiter/waitresses are on point, and friendly. We walked in early on to set an intimate mood since it was a wife & hubby date. The low lit ambiance really set the intimacy right where we wanted along with us being the only ones in the restaurant @4pm was great! We pored through the extensive menu which included delicious items such as spicy tuna gyoza, tempura, fried rice entrees, cut/hand rolls, lots of sashimi, & surprisingly some pho options! We came here mainly for sushi and were we in for a real good meal, you cannot go wrong with any of the appetizers, we chose spicy tuna gyoza which had the right crunch along with the tangy guacamole it sits on, wife enjoyed the freshness of her salad (kudos on the dressing), the accompanying miso soup was filling to her, & her veggie sushi combo was not only beautifully plated she enjoyed each piece. As for me, i devoured the 'Perfect Couple' roll which is a roll with a fried egg roll inside topped with shredded imitation crab meat & a saucy sauce right next to it, such an interesting yum to it. Side by side was the 'Untouchable' roll which I tried due to reading it here on yelp & it sure was a fresh roll with the tuna avocado salmon combo with mango salsa top & minced tuna inside. By this point, wife was happily stuffed but I felt I had enough room for a shrimp tempura hand roll (it was good even though we thought we heard the waitress say chicken tempura hand roll) & the 'Out of Control' roll which sealed the deal for me with a myriad of fresh chunky cuts of salmon, tuna, yellowtail on the inside topped with a seared goodness for that smoky yum! All in all we will definitely return to Mt Fuji for more sushi goodness and remember to not park right in front of the restaurant as its 30 min parking so park across the street.

Service was good. Chicken basil was tasty. But I found a staple in my food. Not a huge deal to me...these things happen. But you have comp my meal. All I got was a "sorry". UPDATE - Owner reached out to me, after seeing my review. Offered to bring me back for a complimentary lunch. Very gracious, and happy to see management pays attention to yelp. Going back today. Follow meal was great. Get the tuna pizza. It's amazing

Best place ever! Service was great and their food was amazing! When I first passed by the restaurant, it just looked like a hole in the wall. I was really reluctant to try this place out but when I walked in I realized the place looked a lot more spacious than I thought. The interior decor was very pleasant to the eyes. Their employees greeted me once I walked in and was almost seated immediately. Their sushi rolls and sashimi are as fresh as they can get. I LOVED IT! My experience here was LEGEN.... wait for it... DARY! LEGENDARY!

There are so many Asian fusion places popping up, I would skip this one. For lunch we had shrimp tempura to start, shrimp hibachi, and chicken teriyaki. Shrimp tempura and veggies were very greasy. Shrimp hibachi was okay but the chicken teriyaki was awful. Barely touched it out if fear that it was spoiled.

Love this place! The food and service is outstanding! I've been here many times... You must try the ginger scallion chicken, satay chicken with chili peanut sauce, and the foxy lady signature roll with crunchy calamari and crispy fuji apples! All dishes are presented instagram worthy and taste delicious! Mt. Fuji is my go-to restaurant for any night of the week!

Faithful Dining Companion and I headed over to Mt. Fuji for lunch, having heard lots of great 'buzz' about the restaurant. We were not disappointed. I am not a seafood eater thanks to a lovely allergy to shellfish. FDC was craving sushi in particular, and usually there are a few other offerings. So, off we go. This is a storefront restaurant and from the outside it looks smaller than it actually is. Inside there's a main dining room with a sushi bar and to one side a significant second dining room/party room which can be closed off with glass - pane doors. We at first thought the party room might be teppanyaki, however it is not. Decor is almost-chic, lots of muted gold and dark wood, however from a design perspective there might be one or two too many elements to make it really chic. We were seated promptly along one wall - one side upholstered, one side chair. Pet peeve - tables along this wall VERY close together, made it uncomfortably challenging to get up and down, lots of squeezing and views of clothed backsides as people slid in and out. Really, remove one two top. to give people more room! It won't break the bank. Fortunately, the restaurant has quite a few non-seafood offerings, which is delightful for someone like me. FDC ordered the American Dream sushi entree, which she proclaimed delicious, very fresh, lovely. I had the chicken teriyaki, which was a nicely done sliced chicken breast with chef-made (as opposed to foodservice bottled) teriyaki sauce that was quite yummy, not as sickly-sweet as the foodservice variety. I also ordered cucumber roll which was delightful, fresh and crisp. Gyoza were decently done foodservice but with a chef-made dipping sauce that was more savory and less overly soy, a nice treat. Chicken satay also fab! Service was very good, friendly, quick, engaging, our server was terrific. One small complaint: apparently due to some utility issues there was no water service to the building. Not their fault, however, learning three quarters of the way through the meal that this left the bathrooms non-functional became very uncomfortable, especially after the diet Cokes, iced teas and waters we had consumed. It made for a rathe hasty exit. Fortunately, we live only blocks away so we did not need to find a gas station or WaWa to dive into. It, however, would have been lovely had they alerted us to the problem before we sat down. That way we could have made informed decisions about whether to stay, and how much fluid to drink during our meal. Overall, we'll be back, the food was fresh, very tasty and the service was excellent.

So good! I have frequently passed right by this place, thinking it was just some hole-in the-wall. So wrong! It is elegant inside, and the sushi is awesome. BYOB, too, a major plus! My fiancé and I had the "Love Boat." It was pure art...I had to take a picture. The miso soup was also the best I have ever had, as it was not overly salty. The staff was very nice and accommodating, although it did take about 5 minutes for us to be acknowledged when we first walked in. Regardless, we will definitely be back anytime a sushi craving hits!

Mt. Fuji puts a refreshing twist on Japanese cuisine which really separates it from your run of the mill sushi restaurant. Service was great and I'm still dreaming about the guac and sushi. I could honestly say I'd come here everyday. Love this place.

After many google and yelp searches I came across Mt Fiji. My fiancé loves sushi and I wanted to go to a BYOB. I've been to this shopping area many times but I've ignored this place because the store front looks like it's some sort of spa and I don't like random people touching me, including a Masseuse lol. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in. I immediately loved the decor and ambiance. We went on a Sunday around 2:30 pm, I think they just opened, and it was just us two. We absolutely loved the food, we got the chicken tempura rolls, shrimp tempura rolls, chicken fried rice and the Aroi chicken. The service was great! I went back later that week during lunch and ordered more chicken tempura rolls. They were much more packed during lunch and I'm not surprised, their lunch specials are pretty great.

I really really like this place! I have been here on several occasions and each time has been a great experience. The sushi is wonderful and is the presentation is nice as well. The atmosphere feels very posh and it is done well. I think every time I have visited, the restaurant has been full, but not to the point where I had to wait for a table. If coming with a large group, get the sushi boat to share. You can watch them prepare it from the sushi bar and it makes it such a fun experience. They have an extensive list of specialty rolls and I will be back to try many of them!

  • Jessica P R.

Came here and had a solid experience. I do not eat fish, so I can only speak to the apps and non-fish rolls. Everything was excellent. The only reason that I didn't give a five star review is because the wait staff had some issues translating my English. I don't mean to be mean or rude, but the inefficiency was a detriment to my meal. Example: I ordered separate rolls from the sushi menu, but the ingredients were all combined into one roll. They also did not understand that I wished to be seated before my dining companion arrived

Okay, so..first off, I am by no means a "sushi guy". Went to Mt. Fuji and was floored by the gorgeous interior and the ambience (it was so peaceful- very welcoming!) Anyway, we proceed to order a few different rolls- and mind you, the only sushi I have eaten prior to this was a California roll. Well, needless to say, everything I tried was super DELICIOUS! I never thought I would enjoy sushi that much- in fact, it was so good that we went back a few weeks later for some more! This time, I tried some non-sushi dishes as well- they were amazing as well! And what a friendly staff of servers! I really can't think of anything bad to say, so I'll leave it at this- GO TO MT. FUJI NOW You will NOT regret it :)

Awesome sushi! I will def. go back when I am in town again. The Mt.Fuji King Roll was my favorite. It's BYOB so don't forget to bring something to drink. Our services was fantastic. I had a late dinner and we were one of the last tables before closing but we were not rushed out.

At first we were worried about that place. We really love sushi but we had to take our two kids with us.(5&2) the restaurant looked very classy so we were worried, that it may not be kid friendly. We were surprisingly wrong:) After enjoying our delicious sushi, the manager came to us and told us that he would love for us to come back because our kids were so well behaved... He also handed us back the 20% coupon that we gave him and he told us to keep it for next time as well. Restaurant is very nice looking. I love the china that they serve their sushi on. The lights are dimmed what makes the atmosphere romantic. Good place for a date night.

We went based on yelp reviews. My wife, daughter and I were not disappointed. Do not be discouraged by the strip mall location. I could easily have given Mt Fuji 5 stars because it was one of the best and most complete dining experiences I have had in a long time. By complete, I mean the high quality of the food, the excellence (and friendliness) of the service, and the value based on the cost. The dinner was a homerun on all three counts.

Two empty-nester couples out for a Saturday night dinner found this place to be great! The menu is huge, with sushi, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Thai selections. the portions are just right as are the prices. Service is prompt and pleasant. The décor is charming, especially in the main dining room. There is a second dining area towards the back, that has some LED lighting that continually changes color. This is slightly distracting. Overall, this place is acoustically-correct, permitting easy conversation at our table. There is parking right in front, and a large lot across the street. BYOB is a big plus. I'd first written that we'd go back, and we probably will. Unfortunately, we'd split the bill by offering two credit cards. All seemed well that night, when we each signed a slip for 1/2 the total bill, plus tip. However, both credit card statements later indicated that each couple had been charged twice!

  • Kristen S.

Great good but the service was incredibly slow even to obtain water. People were complaining about the temperature of the restaurant being freezing and I personally found the heavy chopsticks to be troublesome. Great food but I'll wait to come back until they add staff. My mochi was great

  • Brian C.

Not only was the ambiance spectacular, but the service and food was incredible! The sushi was fresh, nicely cut and the presentation was great. The hibachi was cooked just right and the sauces they give had their own distinct flavors. They are even set up with a kid's menu! We brought our son for his birthday and he is making me let you all know that this is his new favorite place. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

Following my original review of Mt. Fuji, the owner of the restaurant reached out to me regarding our experience. He was surprised to hear that the restaurant was not opening on time, and was deeply apologetic. He did not try to make excuses for the late opening (to the contrary: he said he considered tardiness to be rude. and he was actually grateful for our feedback!). To make it up to us, he invited us back to the restaurant for lunch, on him. We went back for our on-the-house lunch last week... arrived around 11:10 and the restaurant was empty but definitely ready for business! My friend ordered a sushi lunch special, and I ordered a special Sumo roll with a side order of white tuna. Both lunches came with miso soup. The presentation of the food was beautiful! (see photos). The fish was fresh, and delicious. As promised, the owner treated us to the lunch, and even had the chef prepare a Tuna Pizza (tuna sashimi with jalapeno guacamole on a thin fajita) for us to try! I had seen it on the menu and was intrigued, and was so happy to try it. Amazing combination of flavors! I definitely recommend getting one as an appetizer. The service was very friendly and attentive. We were very pleased all around with our lunch experience! The food here is excellent, possibly the best sushi in the area; but obviously the business also cares about hospitality and the customer experience. This is the kind of service that will bring customers back time and time again. I know we will be back very soon, and plan to adopt this wonderful establishment as our regular sushi joint. Update to my update: we went to Mt. Fuji with our kids (5 and 7) for dinner and had a wonderful experience. The servers were so nice to our kids! Our kids are sushi lovers and are thrilled to have this new restaurant in the neighborhood!

I'm from New York but I very frequently visit my family here in Philadelphia. I am a huge sushi fan. I heard this place had just opened and to come check it out from my cousin. This place blew my taste buds! I've never had fresher sushi and sashimi than from Mt. Fuji's! I ordered a few rolls and everyone who visits this restaurant must get the "Untouchable" Roll. It is beyond amazing. This venue is a must visit when in the area. Everything was decently priced and the taste of the food was almost too delicious. I was treated with such great attention, respect and service from entering to leaving the place. It's a shame I live so far as I could honestly eat here everyday. The decor was top of the line, the place was clean as a whistle. Everything seemed to be professionally designed from decor to food presentation. I only wish my stomach was able to fit more food into it. My mouth said keep it coming but my stomach was just too full. Definitely worth revisiting over and over! Food: 5/5 Decor: 4.5/5 (Only because I didn't like certain artwork) Service: 5/5 Price: 5/5

Ate there Friday night with son home from school and husband. 1 Menu selection excellant. Great full sushi bar Wide variety of non sushi Asian and non Asian items. 2 Priced very fairly priced Atmosphere very very pretty. Wonderfully light. Would be great to take my family, I'd even say could bring young children OR equally as well place for a romantic outing, or even to take myself out alone to. 3 Servicewe went there as I said, on Friday evening , after a snow storm and were waited on in a timely manner. Our server was very sweet and very helpful. While waiting for our main selections, the head host Calvin came over and gave us a complimentary order or shrimp, he explained, to make up for us having to wait since they were down a server. ( I hadnt noticed that it was taking ling at all) 4 taste the food was outstanding! It was perfect.Very fresh, excellant taste, perfect temperature. 5 Ambiance, Eclectic selection and gets 5 stars frim me! It was completely perfect and I cant wait to go back! Loriann

We got the teriyaki NY steak, chicken fried rice, spicy tuna and Three Musketeers rolls and loved them. The steak was cooked perfectly! The food came out fast and the wait staff was friendly. The menu is expansive (has hibachi and other entrees) while Harusame lacks that. Definitely will be coming back to try more items!

OMG! OMG! OMG! I've been desperate for something to replace the tired and feeble sushi places we have on the eastern Main Line. Harusame and Mikado were okay when they opened, but apparently they've realized that when there isn't any real competition, you don't have to try so hard. Went to Mt. Fuji last night for a change of pace and it was simply delightful. To start, the space was lovely. Very serene and relaxing with muted colors and soft music. We shared a sashimi dinner and a couple of special rolls. The presentation was simply astounding. The sashimi was arrayed on a block of ice shaped like a boat set on a sea of crushed ice that had colored lights glowing underneath it. The fish itself was fresh and beautifully sliced. The rolls were also fabulous. Nice variety of ingredients without being too chaotic. Also the rolls held together. I've been finding lately that sushi chefs at some places are rolling too loosely and the pieces fall apart when you try to pick them up. All in all a great experience and I'm looking forward to going back.

Very good. Fresh fish and creative dishes which you don't see everywhere. The low point was the sashimi appetizer with the yellowtail, tuna and salmon...the fish was a bit cooked and that was jarring. The maki was excellent as was the gyoza soup (totally vegetarian by the way) and the mochi (green tea ice cream). Service was very good and the manager came over to ask us how it was. Also, I am a sucker for authentic green tea (the kind with the popped rice in it) and was excited they had it. Overall I am very happy with this addition to the Main Line and will come back often.

The garish poster that covers the front door gives a moment of pause. But, having been in many garishly decorated Asian restaurants with exquisite food we are not deterred. Step beyond the entryway and enter into a most handsomely appointed room. The subdued lighting illuminates an earthy setting of stone tile walls, transparent panels lit by subtle color changes and dark tables set with reed mats, white dishware and elegant black chopsticks tipped in silver. The server brings tea in black, handle-less mugs. The room merits a center-city setting and vaguely recalls Morimoto or Buddakan. The menu, handsomely bound, is beyond our understanding. When a restaurant challenges us with an entirely new experience we always find it best to put ourselves in the hands of our server. Our only request, as usual, is that the selection be sufficient for three of us to share. Our server complies most agreeably. She suggests that we start with the duck roll and a serving of pork dumplings as our appetizer. For the main course, she proposes two dishes: the seafood combination and the sobo noodles. As sides she offers white rice and shrimp fried rice. Her advice could not have been better. As we waited for our order the table was set with a simple iceberg lettuce salad with ginger dressing, a common item seen lately in newer Asian restaurants. They also brought a single serving of miso soup. This single serving of soup was the only shortcoming of the evening. What is a little soup broth? They could easily have brought us three small bowls. The appetizers arrived. The pork dumplings, simple in appearance and garnished only by a bed of thin sliced cucumber, melted like little delicate pillows of sweetly textured and savory cream. The duck rolls, arranged like toppling towers and crowned with feathered carrot and cucumber, first teased the eyes then seduced the tongue. The appetizers served their intended role of promising the palate the delights to come. The first course cleared away, its memory delaying in the mouth, we sat pleasantly for a moment already reminiscing on its delights. The proper interim passed, our server approached with a companion, trays held high in their hands. The trays lowered and moving slowly to our table what seemed like phantom dishes appeared: a gentle hill of richly dark sobo noodles riddled with shrimp and an elegant platter of seafood laden with scallops, shrimp, red snapper and beans surmounted by a red lobster rampant as though on a royal crest. Immediately the eyes feasted before the tongue even touched. Sights enjoyment did not belie taste. The lobster, scallops, shrimp and red snapper melted delicately. The delicate sauce on the fish platter gently moved from sweet to piquant. The green beans added a contrasting crispness. The sobo noodles, to be slurped as is the custom, took our experience in another direction where silken noodles in a savory sauce played against crunching shrimp shells with a spicy touch. Fuji Mountain, now only three days old, opens the door to a new culinary world in Ardmore. The owner is not Japanese, he is Chinese. (There are relatively few Japanese on the East Coast.) Whether his food is pure Japanese, I cannot judge. The last time I was in Japan was over forty years ago and my recollection is not that good. Nonetheless, the service at Fuji Mountain is excellent, the setting is quite elegant and the food offers an exceptional dining experience at very reasonable prices.

3 stars = "A-OK", so that's my rating for now. I hope this goes up with future visits. Sushi possibly comes in third place after pizza and pub grub on the list of "Ubiquitous Foods of the Main Line", but I was nonetheless excited to see another spot open up. I've had no awful experiences with the sushi out here, but no "wow!" moments either, so I looked forward to paying a visit to Mt. Fuji to see where they fit on my raw fish continuum. I stopped in for a spontaneous lunch date with myself. There were two other parties in the restaurant, but no host/hostess or waiter/waitress in sight. The only employees I saw were the three sushi chefs at the bar, who were engaged only in staring at me while I stood at the front of the restaurant awkwardly, wondering what I should do. There was an electrician working on the light switch by the door, so I asked him if he knew whether there was a host/hostess; he confirmed there was. I was in no rush, so I plopped down on the bench by the door and waited. A few minutes later, said hostess appeared; she was doing double-duty as hostess/waitress. I requested a seat at the sushi bar (which has iPad Minis[?] built in for internet browsing, if that's your thing) and was handed a menu. Like a lot of other sushi places, Mt. Fuji offers a more diverse menu, including soups (the pumpkin and gyoza lemongrass sounded especially interesting); tempura, teriyaki, and wok entrees; noodle dishes, agemono, and more. After deciding to stick with sushi, I ordered the Sunset Blvd and Autumn of Philly special rolls. The quality of the fish and the construction of the rolls were very good, and the portion sizes quite generous. Overall, I'd say Mt. Fuji is superior in each of these respects to the other area sushi restaurants I've visited. However, I was glad to be eating by myself, because these suckers barely fit in my mouth (which is, admittedly, abnormally small), and I'm sure I looked like a total dingus eating them. The rolls also came with complimentary miso soup which, while tasty, only had trace levels of seaweed and tofu. I wasn't upset about it since it was free, but had I ordered it on its own and gotten what was essentially a bowl of broth, I would have been disappointed. Despite the initial service awkwardness, the hostess/waitress was very friendly and attentive (though not overbearing) and prompt with taking care of me. I'm still a bit perplexed that not one guy of the trio at the sushi bar took any sort of action while the hostess/waitress was MIA. Because the sushi was tasty, well-prepared, and good quality, I'll cross my fingers that they work out their opening kinks and coordinate their service more effectively. In summation, I wasn't wowed by my initial experience at Mt. Fuji, but it wasn't so "meh" that I won't return. Overall, I'm optimistic about my next visit, and look forward to trying some of the other things on the menu.

I wish I could give more stars to this restaurant because it was absolutely amazing. I've been to a lot of places that sell sushi and Japanese cuisine but this restaurant blows all the other competition out of the water! Lets start off with the service, it is superb. I'm always asked if everything is alright, they refill my drink if I'm about to run out, and I never have to wait long for any service. Now the moment we are all waiting for is the food. As I talk about it I'm going to be hungry again. The food is so perfectly presented and looks as good as it tastes. My absolute favorite appetizer will have to be the tuna pizza. I was skeptical at first on how it would taste but once I took one bite into it I felt like I was in food heaven. The way all the flavors come together just blew my mind. Their specialty rolls are amazing too if you are up for some sushi you've never had in your life. Each roll that comes out that I order never fails to impress my taste buds and my eyes visually. This would be the place to go if you are looking for a good time and godly food. You will not be disappointed and get ready to cry from absolute greatness!

The food is on point. It's BYOB, so that's a good start. Dim lighting, non raucous music to allow a nice conversation. Good ambience. Quick service, the servers are very friendly, although can be a little awkward at times. We ordered the coconut shrimp roll and the angry dragon roll and we were very satisfied with both. Our friends got the dinner combo that also came with a miso soup and garden salad, which is pretty good value for the price. Overall, we had a very pleasant dinner. :)

Great sushi at reasonable prices, with a delicious selection of signature sushi rolls that warrants repeat visits. People can get really snobby when it comes to sushi, so when you see a place ranked as highly as Mt. Fuji, in the burbs no less, it should make you pay attention. I'm happy I did, as Mt Fuji has some really excellent sushi options at prices that won't leave a cratering hole in your wallet. Coming for lunch on a Saturday, the place was actually pretty empty, so we were seated immediately and service was very attentive. The menu is pretty broad with sushi, teriyaki, sashimi, tempura, and hibachi options. My girlfriend and I opted for mostly sushi (of course). We started with the sashimi appetizer ($10), which included six pieces of delicious raw fish (tuna, yellow tail, and salmon) perfectly cut and served at a little below room temperature. Next we ordered two signature rolls, the Foxy Lady ($14) and the Mt. Fuji King Roll ($16). This is where Mt. Fuji shines in my opinion, with some really unique flavors. The Foxy Lady consisted of calamari tempura, papaya, and apple topped with spicy salmon in momiji and ruta sauce. I'm not sure the calamari and the apple taste worked necessarily, but I love that they tried and gave me a really unique roll that was still very good. The Mt. Fuji was the best, made with tempura king crab, avocado and shrimp, topped with spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail. Lots of fish, not a lot of super fishy flavor - the seafood all worked together, from the crab to the spicy fish, to deliver one of the better rolls I've had. For dessert we ordered the Green Tea mochi ($5). This was a little confusing, as we got two mochi cut in fours with whip cream, chocolate syrup, and sprinkles on top. While I appreciated the presentation, the toppings are a little unnecessary and don't really go with the green tea flavor. That being said, I still enjoyed the mochi, and would still recommend it, especially if you've never had it. After trying sushi all over the east coast, I'm confident in saying that Mt. Fuji offers some of the better sushi I've had.

Really enjoy the sushi love boat! The fish is always fresh. They really care about presentation which is an added bonus. It's a BYOB which is great since the bottle shoppe and the liquor store are so close!

This is a BYOB! The sushi was absolutely divine! Fresh, diverse menu that was full of options. I felt like a kid in a candy store that couldn't make up their mind on what they wanted because of all the options. I also had rock shrimp and mango shrimp fried rice. The Rock shrimp had fried sweet potato mix in with it and the rice was just a little over cooked; however, I still enjoyed it the next day as leftovers. Low key swanky place with cute contemporary decor. Low lighting and seating arrangements sets a relaxed and undeniable romantic mood if your on a date. Waiters were friendly, quick and knowledgeable. Everyone at my table was referred to as "honey" with a hint of black tude. Lol, toooo cute! A party of 5 = a $110 bill and $20 tip; noooooot bad!

The appearance of the restaurant outside does not do it justice. It looks like a little hole in the wall place, but once you enter inside you realize it is a real restaurant! Strip mall restaurants always make me nervous but Mt. Fuji does not disappoint. The food was AMAZING and the service was great! I love the decor and food presentation. Sushi is great as is their "regular" chinese food. We will be back!

This is my absolute favorite place in Ardmore now. Anna is the best waitress and always remembers me and my friends when I come in!! The food is just incredible and I always have such a great experience there. I recommend it to anyone that is looking for a nice evening out with some great sushi!!! Very nice vibe in there as well. Low lit so it can be romantic or still casual!

Love, Love, LOVE this new sushi spot in Ardmore. The main line has been desperately needing a good sushi restaurant for years. Frankly, I think most of the sushi on the main line is sub par. I go from place to place, hoping for the best, but always disappointed. Since Mt. Fuji opened last month is has been busy every time I am in there. The atmosphere is nice (don't be turned off by the neon flashing sign in front). The service is GREAT. The host/manager is very pleasant and attentive. But most importantly, of course, the Sushi!! Everything I have had (already been 3 times) has been fresh and delicious. Definitely give this place a try. Also, it is BYOB so don't forget to bring your favorite bottle of wine! I just hope this place lasts and doesn't close up like a lot of the local sushi places have been.

This place is much bigger on the inside than one would guess and we found it very easy to get a table. The service was excellent - not too doting and just right. We had the sushi/Sashimi boat for two. The Nigiri (sushi on rice) portions are thin and average sized for most local sushi restaurants. The sashimi pieces are thick and large. The quality of the fish is better than most areas sushi restaurants. The only thing that could be changed: the Sashimi pieces came in threes for each type of fish which is odd for a sushi plate meant for two. I would say overall this is an above average sushi restaurant. The cost seemed par for other similar places. We will be back.

Found Mt Fuji on Yelp because our regular sushi spot was closed for renovations and we were in the Ardmore area and craving sushi. The rolls were fresh and they had an extensive menu. Points for being a BYOB and located next to a wine and spirits and craft beer store. And no corkage fee which is a plus. The calamari salad was disappointing. The calamari was that frozen overly fried kind (looked like onion rings) served on a plate with side of house salad. Also, the service was sloooowwwww. Seemed like they were understaffed. Food was overall above average though and the prices were reasonable.

OMG! OMG!

  • April L.

Great good but the service was incredibly slow even to obtain water. People were complaining about the temperature of the restaurant being freezing and I personally found the heavy chopsticks to be troublesome. Great food but I'll wait to come back until they add staff. My mochi was great

Loriann

DARY! LEGENDARY!

Great good but the service was incredibly slow even to obtain water. People were complaining about the temperature of the restaurant being freezing and I personally found the heavy chopsticks to be troublesome. Great food but I'll wait to come back until they add staff. My mochi was great
