Looking forward to a vegetarian treat, a friend and I made a reservation for Sunday evening at Mi Lah. The dining room was practically empty. The waitstaff was welcoming and periodically checked on our satisfaction with the food. We shared three appetizers: the edamame dumplings which were cooler than room temperature were served in a nondescript sunchoke sauce; the Palm-sugar caramelized tofu with roasted cauliflower in which the tofu was tough although the cauliflower was seasoned and tasted ok; the spring rolls were reminiscent of any Chinese restaurant. My friend ordered the Baked Phyllo as his entree and reported the phyllo dough was soft and doughy as opposed to being crispy and light. The kale complement was microscopic and not flavorful. I ordered the Grilled Oyster Mushrooms: the Mushrooms were tough and practically inedible, the masa corncake was compacted and tasteless, the brandy-tomato sauce was uninteresting, the vegan chorizo was spicy and ok. The shaved apple salad which was julienne slices of red apple came in a tasty dressing and was the only thing I enjoyed. Both my friend and I left over half of the meal on our plates and when we gave our opinion to our waiter we felt that although he was very cordial, we were hearing excuses for the doughiness of the phyllo and the blandness of the dishes. We will try Mi Lah once more and hope we were there on an off night, but if there is no change in what we taste next time we'll be very disappointed and won't be back. I revisited Mi Lah on Friday, June 26: I went back to Mi Lah for lunch with a friend just to give it another chance after having been disappointed by dinner the week before. My friend had the Grilled Romaine Salad with dressing on the side. There were two very thin and flavorless pieces of grilled romaine on her plate topped with some julienne bits which she couldn't identify and a dressing which she did not enjoy. I had the Edamame Dumplings and they were as tasteless as those that I had ordered the previous week. My Butternut Squash soup was sweet and flavorful. The Veggie Burrito came in a doughy wrapper although the tomato sauce that covered it was relatively flavorful I have tasted similar out of a can of diced tomatoes with minced jalapeno peppers. The service was so-so. After giving it another try I will stick with the wonderful vegetarian restaurant in Southampton.

I really don't like to write negative reviews, but after many years of loving the in-town Mi Lah, this latest incarnation is a poor shadow to us and not worth the drive when there are such better options. We went for brunch this past Sunday, hoping to enjoy our favorite vegan omelettes that we ALWAYS got at the old Mi Lah. When they moved, I remember seeing that they were going to start using eggs, but that you could still request the vegan omelette. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Not only did the waiter tell us it was not available, he simply could not have cared less. His demeanor was sullen and very unapologetic. My husband was so upset, that he actually told him that we were long-time customers and that the vegan omelettes were the reason why we came to Mi Lah and we would not be returning. One would thing if someone said something like that to a server, they would apologize, get the manager to come talk to us... nothing!!! We were disappointed and disheartened. It was great while it lasted.

Great food for vegetarian and vegan options. I'm a meat eater but i was quite satisfied with my vegetarian meal. It's a shame the restaurant moved from Philly to the suburbs, but lucky for Ambler to get this gem.

Be aware that this is not longer purely vegan. Dairy and egg has been added to the menu. Read carefully. Some items are no longer vegan, but it is not clear what the non-vegan ingredient is. The soy protein they use may be the culprit, with egg in it. Still, far better choices than just about another other upscale restaurant in the area.

We went to Mi Lah at its new home in the suburbs and it was just as fantastic as its home on 16th street. Now, I don't know how often we'll motivate to drive to Ambler, but it wasn't terrible coming from the city, parking was super easy, and the brunch was fantastic as usual. We got our usual favorites: the Yards beer battered seitan + waffles, and the biscuits+sausage+gravy+avocado. Still amazing. I'm happy Mi Lah still exists, even if its location has changed!

This place is about a month old at the Blue Bell location, and it's delicious. The service was kind and he offered advice of popular first-timer dishes. We started with a BBQ seitan and pine nut tamale. While it could have been hotter, the flavors were delicious! For our entrees we had the curry laksma, which was superb. Sweet, tangy, and filling. Lots of tofu and vermicelli too! We also ordered the the Brazilian seitan which included beans, veggie chorizo, polenta cakes, and kale. Healthy, filling portion. We had no room for dessert. It was relatively empty at 9:40 on a Saturday night. I can't wait to try more of the innovative dishes here!

I've eaten here twice in the last eight days. Last Saturday my wife and I stopped in at 5pm for dinner with no reservations. We sat immediately and looked over the menu as relatively new vegetarians (eating this way for just over a year). So many items sounded delicious that we decided to go with two appetizers and two entrees. She had the polenta and the vegan samosas. She loved both. I had the fried ravioli and the Pad Thai. Both were flavorful and satisfying. The grilled bread that came before the meal was smoky and sweet, with a softness like Angel Food cake. The oil was very mild and made a great combination. We had a pot of white peony tea. The whole meal was so wonderful that we knew we would be back soon, especially since we live 30 minutes away and work less than 8 minutes away. Today we went back for a spur of the moment brunch. Got there close to 2pm and again sat immediately. She ordered the corn masa cakes with black beans and avocado. I ordered the Beer Battered seitan with waffles. We ordered additional sides, Brussels sprouts and sweet potato fries, which oddly came out first almost as appetizers, but they were great so we didn't mind. Her masa cakes were very tasty but the seitan and waffles...there are no words. It is one of the five best things I've eaten in my entire life. The plate was perfectly balanced flavor. The seitan was crispy, the waffles perfectly made, and the sweetness of the melon and strawberries and the syrup was divine. I could do without the spicy mayo decoration on the plate as that got in the way and didn't add to it, and the braised kale was good but not needed. It was such a great dish that I can't wait to go again and sample even more from their menu. This place is a gem. So thankful that they moved from the city to the burbs. I hope they stick around for a long time.

Great atmosphere and service! This is the same restaurant that just moved from Center City. The menu is really big and we wanted to try everything. We settled for the 'sausage steak' and the 'cauliflower' steak dinners. Both were pretty good, but the flavors are more unusual than we are used to. So it might be a hit for some but not for others. The cheesecake was fantastic though, would highly recommend that. The prices are on the higher end, but this is still a great option for all vegetarians and vegans!

Yes, because their building was sold, Mi Lah of Center City is now Mi Lah of Broad Axe! Expect the same excellent food, changing menus (seasonally), knowledgable staff, but with a larger and more accommodating dining room. At dinner last night we had Vietnamese rolls and pan-seared polenta cakes for starters. We followed that with the Spicy Noodle dish and Grilled Oyster Mushrooms as entrees. We'll be back soon!

Amazing food in a strip mall! Opted not to get the 3 course lunch, as I wanted to try a Bahn Mi sandwich, and it wasn't an option under the multi-course menu. Got the Tom yum soup- very fresh, flavorful and spicy! Bahn mi was served with a perfectly warm, crusted roll- also fresh, flavorful with spicy chili vegenaise. Companion got pad Thai which came with 2 different proteins- quite delicious. We couldn't finish all of the food- taking some home for tomorrow. Will definitely be coming back- lots of menu items that is like to try!!

It's hard to believe we ate at the same place all these other diners did. At best, the food we had tonight was ordinary and, frankly, given the excellent vegetarian and vegan restaurants in and around Philly, I am amazed at the drab quality of the food we had. My grilled seitan tasted as if it was straight out of a container of Dave's seitan (which I happen to like), but with no sign or taste of having been grilled, and a bland, weak tamarind sauce on it. It was accompanied by two undercooked, but somehow shriveled carrots and a dry, chewy rice cake, with not a hint of the creaminess that defines risotto. My husband's baked phyllo with mushrooms consisted of a dry and flavorless wrapping of several phyllo sheets around some adequate chopped mushrooms, with an accompaniment of dry kale. Too bad--- the two stars are because they were nice people, and the ambience was OK. But the food? Fuhgettaboutit!

Just stumbled upon this great little vegetation restaurant. Very simply - excellent. I had the curried cauliflower steak with roasted beets and squash. I could not have been better. I highly recommend this place. Nice to see a new area restaurant operate so well.

So excited to have a vegetarian/vegan restaurant In Ambler! Whole family went tonight and everything was excellent. The curry samosas were delicious, spring rolls, asparagus soup and butternut squash soup were amazing. Mango avocado salad was great and we had chocolate cake for dessert. Sooo good. We are going to go back and each time order something new until we get through the whole beautiful menu. So happy to have Mi Lah here!

This place recently opened as Mi Lah. The location's previous occupant, Thai Aroma, offered excellent Thai Food with lots of flavor. Mi Lah, not so much. But I did go in with high hopes. And I was sadly disappointed. Service was pretty good, and attentive. Now on to the food....every salad and appetizer sounded fantastic, and we couldn't decide between 10 things. We picked the edamame ravioli and the polenta cakes. The ravioli were very tasty, but brought to our table cold (they were not supposed to be.) I would definitely order them again and hope that they come out hot. The polenta cakes were also delicious, served in a lovely, fresh tomato sauce. Now to the entrees....We ordered the Mushroom Phyllo (a turnover) and Pad Thai. The Mushroom Phyllo was ok. The Phyllo itself was underbaked, pale white and a hint of raw flavor. I suspect it would have been much tastier (and hotter) if the Phyllo was browned. The sautéed greens, potatoes, and sauce it was served with were very good, and I mainly concentrated on those parts of the dish. Now, the Pad Thai. One of the worst Pad Thais I have ever had. The entire dish was absolutely tasteless. Bland. No flavor. You get the point. There was no flavor whatsoever in any of the dish's counterparts. The noodles were slightly underdone, and undersauced. The tofu was baked, and tasted like plain old tofu out of the package. These dishes were very underwhelming, and slightly overpriced considering they were $17 and $14 respectively. For dessert, we had the sticky rice and mango. At first, I was like, this mango is seriously under-ripe. But the tart, and slightly hard mango mingled with the mushy, sticky, sweet, coconuty rice, the combination was actually very good. So, 3 stars for 1st course, 1 star for entrees, 4 stars for dessert and service. I do plan to return to try some other things, and hope that the food is a bit better than it was during my first visit.

Went to Mi Lah for lunch today after hearing about it as the new vegetarian place in town, and thoroughly enjoyed it. We got there at 1 and the place was completely empty which caused us to become suspicious immediately. We're glad we resisted the impulse to leave and stayed for a lovely meal. The menu is varied and all vegetarian. There are a lot of vegan options. There is a lunch special as well as brunch options which include some Mexican and other global dishes in addition to Asian food. There were a lot of items to choose from. I ordered the lunch special which includes soup, appetizer and entree for $10-12. Not bad. I got the butternut squash soup which arrived piping hot. I wasnt able to finish it because it is a bit on the sweet side and the flavor was overwhelming after I was 2/3 done with it. I ordered the Indonesian spring roll as the appetizer which was also hot, crispy and tasty. It was stuffed with mushrooms, tofu and vegetables. It came with a tangy, spicy green chutney for dipping. The main course was the Pad Ki Mao - broad noodles with tofu and veggies. It was a bit too eggy for my husband's liking, but I loved it. My husband ordered the Vietnamese hoagie which was the best dish among all that we ordered. The tofu was marinated in a spicy sauce; the bread was just right combination of crusty without being hard, veggies were crunchy and marinated perfectly. The portion was also quite large. We had no room for dessert after this lunch meal. If you dont like tofu or veggie meat like seitan, then this place is not for you. The restaurant has a lovely, welcoming decor. The wait staff was attentive, kind and patient. They were almost too docile and could use a dose of brightness. It is located in a very quiet part of town. There are rarely any walk ins. But I hope that Mi Lah does well and sticks around for a long time. We will be back soon.

About a week ago, we went to Mi Lah to check it out....this was our first time...we were never at the Center City location. It was shortly after lunch--3 tables had customers. Overall, we thought it had a pleasant atmosphere, the server was ok--he mumbled & was hard to hear him, the food was tasty but the portions were oh so skimpy for the price. We shared a dessert which was vegan & good. Must admit, we left there feeling a bit hungry. We are very happy to have a restaurant w/vegan options that isn't too far away but cannot afford to eat there often at all unless they increase the portion sizes or lower the prices. We wish Mi Lah much success & welcome to Montgomery County......

Wonderful find with great food, great value, good presentation, and service. It's so good to have a vegetarian restaurant in the area. What a good addition to area. It may be a loss for center city but what a plus for the neighborhood.

The food was a delicious combination of sauces and vegetables offering a fragrant aroma. Each dish was distinct leaving a lovely taste on the pallet. It was so good, I ordered a to go meal for tomorrow. Definitely will come be back again.

Definitely the best vegetarian/vegan food anywhere in the area!! Good atmosphere and reasonably priced. Very friendly service. Great 3 course lunch specials Monday thru Friday.

My husband and I decided to try this place this past Saturday night. Got there around 6:30 without reservations. not too many other diners there so we were seated immediately. YUM! Started with the Thai Salad and the Pan Seared Ravioli. So fresh and such bright flavors! Thai lime dressing on the shredded vegies with chopped peanuts was delicious. The ravioli were light and filled with vegies and such delicate flavor. Sliced almonds on top made them even more special. My Baked Phyllo stuffed with mushrooms and vegetables over mashed potatoes and steamed kale placed so beautifully on the plate surrounded by a chopped mushroom sauce was excellent. Such detail and so delicious! He had the Zucchini-Seitan Patties also served over mashed potatoes along with steamed vegetables.Resembled crab cakes and were really good. He thought a litle on the dry side but I thought they were perfectly done. Everything was delicious. The food was so fresh and delicate and so flavorful. And they "proudly serve local, seasonal, vegetables". While I am not vegetarian I lean toward this way of eating... I had no idea it could be so gourmet!! This a definite "go to" place. Wait staff was friendly and competent. They did however drop the ball at the end of our meal... took a long while to get a check and then even longer for them to pick it up. But it was acceptable because our dinner was so so special.
