Who would have thought there would be a decent Mexican restaurant in Horsham? No lunch specials to speak of mid-day, so expect things to be a tad pricey. They charge for chips and salsa of all things, but the quality of the food is top-notch.

Great family owned restaurant with authentic food. As a Los Angeles native, there are very few really good places to get Mexican Food in the suburbs of Philly. This is one of the good ones. Good atmosphere, small place, noise was not bad at all. Staff was friendly and attentive. We started out with the Nachitos Mexicanos, homemade chips with pico de gallo. Really good chips and salsa but I agree with other reviewers, this should be free. They make enough on alcohol that we should not have to pay $3.00 for chips with no refills. I am not a tequila or margarita fan so I had white wine, a chardonnay which was cold and crisp. Hubby ordered the Carne Asada "Estilo Tampiquena" which was melt in your mouth amazing. (Yes, I had some). it was expensive but so worth it. I had the Pollo Mestizo which was also amazing but the plate as a whole was not perfect. The chicken, rice with corn and black beans were so wonderful but then they threw a "salad" on the plate as well. That was a disappointment to say the least. I think the lettuce was spinach. It had mushrooms and red onion ( in circles, should have been diced) served with a bland oil and vinegar dressing. Blah. This authentic Mexican restaurant doesn't have a homemade cilantro vinaigrette? I asked what dressing came with the salad and allowed the oil/vinaigrette dressing because the staff said that was the only dressing, even though there is a creamy avocado dressing on the menu with another salad. The portions sizes are good, there were leftovers on my plate, but I told them to leave the salad out of my to go container. It had no business on the plate other than to fill space. If you feel the need to do that, then do it right, give us an authentic dressing. They seem to be a bit stingy on the small stuff which makes no sense at all which is why they don't get 5 stars. Will we go back? Maybe...like I said, the food was really, really good but some things should change.

What a gem! The food is absolutely delicious and the service is great. Very authentic. One of the best places to eat in Horsham.

Have to admit I was worried when I walked in for lunch and the small seating area was packed, and I saw one host and one server on the floor. The host seated us quickly and the waiter came to greet us in a timely manner. And that is where any trepidation I had ended. It took a while to order but that was because I couldn't decide on what to pick. I eventually picked the nacho's. Our food was brought out quickly despite the full dining room and the one server. And the food was amazing. I never imagined that you could make nachos so interesting. Everything about the experience including the atmosphere and the food was top notch. I will be back often!

Love this place. They are one of 3 in the local chain, but by far the best of the three. They are small. I mean really small. 30 people in this place is probably close to max. But that also makes it very inviting and intimate. The food here amazing. Having lived in the southwest for many years, I am very particular about Mexican cuisine. These guys nail it. They also have a well-stocked bar.

Seriously good Mexican food! Guac isn't too salty and has just enough flavoring and the chips aren't to greasy. I had the Pescado tacos which were filled with grouper, guac, carrots and cabbage inside a corn tortilla. Very filling portions! Quick and friendly service. Highly recommend!

While the food quality was good, two things really made this review only three stars. One, when asked if they could provide the enchilada plate with a combo of cheese and chicken, the answer was no that was not possible. Most restaurants can combine enchiladas it would seem. Anyway. The other thing was that when the enchiladas actually came out we asked for red sauce and it came out with green sauce. The waitress later came back and said "oh, I saw there was green sauce on there, I know you asked for red but they usually put green I hope that's okay". If she noticed that in the kitchen, why didn't she correct the issue? As I said at the beginning of the review the food was good quality, but because of those issues, only three stars.

This is our local Mexican restaurant. We have also eaten at the Chalfont location as well. They serve upscale Mexican and the prices are higher than other options, but the food is worth it. Going for lunch gets you the best value though. The only item that I have not liked is the guacamole. All the other items have been excellent.

¡Viva, Los Sarapes! I popped in on Sunday to chill at the bar...but found the bar was way too small. I had a seat at a table instead. But other than this minor change in plans, it was a great experience. The ambiance of this out of the way place is cozy n cool. When you walk in, you are instantly transformed from the the blandness of suburbia and into your own small oasis. THIS PLACE IS NOT ABOUT TEXMEX. It is a much more refined and subtle experience. I tried a Paloma (Dove), a liquid concoction of tequila, grapefruit soda, and lime juice. It is the perfect cocktail for a sticky hot day. I also tried a special appetizer called Alas Borrachas (Drunk Wings). These juicy chicken wings were marinaded in tequila, garlic, and other spices. They definitely rocked the house. I also tried the Ceviche cocktail. While it didn't match up to that served at La Perla on La Ropa beach in Zihuatanejo, it will do in a pinch. I highly recommend Los Sarapes. This restaurant provides the taste treat your mouth requires.

I'd call this place a go-to in terms of suburban dining. It's well-prepared, thoughtful, authentic Mexican food. They have a good bar selection, and the service is always friendly. I've wandered around the menu, but I always come back to the mole poblano. It's a darn tasty plate of food.

Wow, what a find! About 6 minutes from my office, I decided to give this place a whirl and man, I'm glad I did! Got the tacos, grouper to be exact, and the flavor, portion size and presentation was excellent. The waitress even brought out hot sauce (holy cow, be careful here!) to top it all off. My lunch date had the tacos as well, but got the variety pack....one carne, one pollo, one carnitas & one tinga. Wow, all were amazing, with such differnt flavors! Smokey, spicey, sweet... Was amazingly affordable for the quality as well! Will definitely be back often...could eat Mexican food everyday and may just have to now!

I admit that I'm not a connoisseur of higher-quality Mexican food, so I'm giving the five stars based primarily on 1) margarita quality 2) atmosphere and 3) service You walk into the corner of a strip mall in Horsham (more like Willow Grove), and BOOM you're in a little Mexican cantina. Nice and dark and cozy. A mix of couples, families, and work groups most of the times we've been there. The house margaritas were delicious and strong - we now order 3 - one each, and then we split the third one. The staff is friendly, and doesn't mock you if you took French in high school and therefore cannot pronounce anything on the menu.

Always a great experience. Very dependable food and service. Treated like family here. Chips and tremendous guacamole are great ways to start. Pollo Mestizo and the Tampiquena are outstanding and regular choices. Try it and you will love it.

I heard this place was good and since there was a coupon though Living Social, we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed!! The place is small but cute. We were there on a Sunday night so there were maybe two or three other parties there. Good service, wide array of choices on the menu and even a good children's menu too! I had chicken with a spicy chiptole cream sauce which came with rice, refried black beans and salad. Everything delicious. My husband had steak fajitas which he said were good and my son enjoyed his chicken quesadilla. We also had chips and pico as an appetizer. Next time I plan to try a margarita. We thoroughly enjoyed it and it's close to home. We'll definitely be back!!

I've been going to Los Serapes now for over 5 years. I luckily live in between the two restaurants in Chalfont and Horsham. I've used Los Serapes for catering and of course, dinner. I have to say that Mauricio and his crew do a top notch job all the time. The food is amazing (especially the Tampiqueno and Mestizo). For catering, he kept things unspicy for my family and even they loved it which is rare for people that won't typically put their foot in the door. Overall the ambiance and service make this a must stop by place to eat.

I was craving Mexican the night my parents and I went here for dinner. I had tasted their food before at a family friend's house who had Los Sarapes provide catering for her daughter's graduation party. So I knew it was pretty good but I was excited to actually go to the actual restaurant. We called ahead to see what the stats were on getting a table within the next half hour. The man was very helpful in providing us with the current status and told us that it was tight but "tables are moving." Assuming that this didn't mean people were eating at moving table but rather that there are good chances of getting an open table we made our way over. As others have noted it has an tiny dining room. But nonetheless, it is charming and ornate with lots of rich colors and Mexican design. When we walked in the owner was on the phone taking a call (probably explaining the same thing he did to us) and as soon as he was finished and we told him "for 3" he was on a move to get us a table. As if he weren't already on top of it (and many things) enough, he asked us if it was us who had called a little while ago, to which we responded yes. Waiting was not the problem at all, since it was only about five minutes rather it was that there is no real "waiting" area so you are kind of just crammed into the doorway that people are inevitably coming in and out of. It was only for a short time so it didn't really matter so much to me. After being seated at our table we each ordered a margarita (as one should at a Mexican restaurant like this). Mom and I the Skinny Margarita and Dad a regular. After a sip or two of them and a scan of the menu we ordered our entrees: Mom - Flautas (Crispy rolled corn tortillas stuffed with shredded chicken, topped with sour cream, pico d' gallo, guacamole, lettuce, cilantro and hot sauce) and Dad - Camarones a la diabla (Shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico shrimp sautéed with garlic, spices and a creamy chipotle-habanero sauce). My dish was a special - a delicious broiled and seasoned salmon served with a tangy & spicy sauce made of tomatillos, mango, chipotle and cilantro. On each of our plates was a delicious helping of "Flag Rice" which is a mound of rice with three differently colored layers - one red, one white, and one green, all making up the colors of the Mexican flag. And there were little bits of corn in there too providing a nice savory kind of sweetness. I want to make this myself the next time I cook Mexican! Now I have been to some of the best Mexican restaurants in my day (Rich Bayless' Frontera and a handful on my vacation to Cancun) so I have a good idea of what's good. And this, for a tiny restaurant in Horsham, PA is the most authentic you will find in the Philadelphia area.

Tonight was my first time here and it was amazing!!! I literally cannot wait to go back again... The service was fast, friendly and the timing was impeccable between courses. This is traditional mexican, the flavor just bursts in your mouth. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

The food service and bar are wonderful! I love this place! The specials are great, delicious. Staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. My favs are the guacamole and chips and the mole! Chicken w/mole or mole enchilada. Really divine! This is our go to for Mexican food. Sign up and give them your email address and the send you updates and coupons.

More like 4.5 stars. Yelp, get on that half star rating thing! T and I were a little hesitant about trying this place with so many mixed reviews but we're so glad we did! We stopped by for dinner on Friday and were lucky to get a table in the teeny tiny (but very charming) dining room. By the time we left everyone was packed in like sardines. We started with a margarita and a mango mojito. Beware, the drinks were on the expensive side and very pricey. But a great addition to the meal. There are no chips and salsa for the table so we ordered queso fundido with chorizo served with chips and tortillas. So. Good. Gooey and salty and cheesy. And we couldn't figure out if the tortillas were homemade or not but either way, they were delish and served warm and soft. The chips were salty and definitely homemade and great for dipping. A very promising start. For dinner I got the pechuga de pollo Victoria, chicken topped with refried beans and cheese. The chicken was crispy, the beans tasty and even the salad was seasoned properly. T had the plato mixto which included taquitos with chorizo and potatoes, a shredded beef enmolada, a tostadita with shredded chicken and a bean and cheese soft taco. It was also served with flag rice (cilantro rice, white rice and a tomato-based rice). The cilantro rice was awesome and I really liked the bean and cheese taco. We saw a lot of prior complaints about service. We had absolutely no complaints, aside from the fact that they tried to take away our queso appetizer before we were done with it. But it was rescued and all was well. The manager or owner came by several times to make sure everything was okay and the wait staff were very polite and attentive. Perhaps they saw the negative Yelp reviews and made some changes? We definitely plan to go back since there are many other dishes that sound like they'll be worth trying. At the very least we need to try the churro dessert stuffed with banana cheesecake, rolled in cinnamon, sugar, and topped with walnuts, pecans and hot chocolate. So glad we made this discovery!

Great find in Horsham! Even on a busy Valentine's day we were able to get one of the last tables. Excellent food and drinks. Try the jalapeño appetizer; it's delicious! Good service. We will definitely be back.

We've been frequenting Los Sarapes Horsham for about 4 years now. The food is always amazing! The carne asada dish is a must, the filet is like butter!!! We've never had a bad meal, so we chose to have our wedding rehearsal dinner there. Mauricio, the owner worked with us to plan an amazing dinner within our budget. Everyone had a wonderful time! We now say we are spoiled by eating here... No other Mexican restaurant we've been to compares.

Upon recommendations, we tried out Los Sarapes during the weekday lunch rush. They were a little slow, but I was assured by my companions that this was atypical. The food, when it finally arrived was tasty - in particular, the chicken fajitas were tender and were good-sized...just enough to make a food coma a legitimate threat.

TERRIBLE frozen mango margarita. There was no tequila in it evidenced by its sugary sweet syrup and melty ice flavor. The service has awful every time I've been here. The hostess barely says two words and takes 20 minutes to pour some water. Our waiter, when we said we'd like to start with some water, proceeded to take our drink menus so we couldn't figure out what we wanted. I ganked a drink menu from the table next to us (patron-less) so we could figure out the drink sitch and once we ordered our beverages, the drink menu was again taken from us. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were the only 3 patrons there. The place filled about half up maybe half an hour later, yet 3 different groups of people were all served their meals and given their checks before us. The only person to ever be friendly has been the owner - his staff needs a major shake-up. My two dining companions had a Groupon which the waiter failed to apply to the bill, then told us to do our own math, which of course isn't hard but seriously, do your job. The food here is very tasty, which is the only reason I can imagine they stay in business. Fresh made guacamole with chips is a great appetizer. The Salmon Tropical, my entree, was very good: sliver of a fillet of salmon in a mango-chipotle sauce with side salad and Mexican flag rice. Could have gone with a larger piece of salmon. I ordered a churro to-go for dessert: warm cinnamon-sugar covered tortilla stuffed with banana cheesecake with a chocolate drizzle. Yum! It's a shame the service is so bad because the food is quite good. I won't be going back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I met Mauricio, the brother of the owner of El Sarape. He shared that Los Sarapes opened in 2005. This Mexican restaurant is right in the Horsham Center Square shopping center - that means easy parking. Their bright, festive interior has enough room to handle a decent-sized crowd. For awhile, the place didn't have a liqour license so complimentary margaritas (I had one myself; it was good) were provided - now they advertise themselves as a tequila bar, so it seems they got that straightened out. The kitchen serves fine Mexican cuisine, and I mean that in all senses of the word. I had fish tacos for the first time here. They were tasty, though I had nothing to compare them to except non-fish tacos. Our server (Eva) convinced me that they were worth trying, and I'll be back to have them again! Worth a trip if you're in the neighborhood.

I don't know where to begin? The place is as big as a shoe box to start but that wasn't the issue I had. The food was so bad I didn't even eat it. I eat just about anything, but the appetizer and dinner we ordered was in all honesty the worst Mexican food I've ever had in 40 years. We actually left and went next door to Spatolla's for some slices of pizza!

I really liked this place! I'm from so cal and know great Mexican food. That said, the food was good. The atmosphere and waitress were nice too. My only complaint was that when I ordered a churro, they brought me a fried tortilla stuffed with what seemed like banana cheesecake, rolled in cinnamon sugar. While yummy, this is not a churro.

My wife and I love this small Mexican eatery! The menu is unique, and the food is the attraction. Special plates and market dinners are available, but the main menue entree selection is exceptional. The prepared apps are fresh, and chips and guacamole are the best opener to the meal. I loved the pork tacos the best and the seafood entrees (I've had them all) are just amazing. Get ready for spicy stuff! The sides of beans and rice are also worth the meal. Mauricio is a gentleman host and owner, who takes the time to be with his customers. The bar is tiny.... it's a small place... and the drinks are fine. Just to say again, not the usual fast, big plate Mexican takeout. More of an adventure to another great restaurant.

My sister, my Dad and I always go to los sarapes for fathers day dinner, and almost everything about this restaurant is really good. We had the ceviche, which was AMAZING with the homemade tortilla chips, and I also got empanadas and enchiladas with mole sauce. While the mole sauce wasn't my thing, the empanadas were reaaaaaally good. The service was great, my only qualm was that the serving portions were a bit sparse when it came to the guac and salsa. I can't wait to go again!

My wife and I are in love with Los Sarapes! I am partial to the Conde (Black Bean Soup), Rollos Cabos, and Mahi Mahi La Veracruzanna. I had a Whole Red Snapper prepared in the same La Veracruzanna fashion that was the special one evening. OMG! It was even better. As if my meals weren't great enough, the touch of cinnamon in my coffee adds a fine finish to an already fine meai.

I had dinner here with a couple friends and strongly recommend staying away. Our waiter was insufferable. He absolutely refused to make any adjustments to our orders, despite one friend's concerns about ingredients to which she is allergic. I asked for a dish without the sauce, which was also denied. The prices were completely out of line with the quality of the food. The iced tea was bitter and the chips stale. The canned (and not very interesting) music was really loud and despite our being the ONLY people there, they wouldn't lower the volume. All in all, Chipolte is a better meal! Your other reviewers must have had many, many margaritas! :-)

I love this place. I think it has the best Mexican food around. First went there on a groupon and have been back three times since. Authentic Mexican, no tex mex here. The guacamole and Margarita's are awesome.

Sangria is awesome and I loved the Chicken Tortilla Soup. Don't like the fact you must pay for chips and salsa, but they were homemade and delish. Service is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars...they are slow and slightly rude. I will go back though.

Gracias to Los Sarapes for the best Mexican dinner we've found in the Philadelphia suburbs! We are former San Diegans, so our standards are pretty high---I knew ordering the chicken mole would make or break my opinion on this restaurant. It was SUPERB! Clearly , the sauce had stewed all day long, the flavors were multi-layered and delicate. Cuisine is traditional Mexican, but with a haute cuisine twist. Marguerita's were delicious and potent, if expensive. Agree that the prices are a little high, but we were able to use an online coupon, which helped. But totally worth it even at full price for the lovely atmosphere, gracious service and outstanding food. Los Sarapes is a keeper!

When we're craving really good Mexican food, this is the place! Excellent Chicken Tortilla soup. Anything made with beef is top notch. Keep in mind, when a dish is described as "hot" or "spicy," they mean it. My husband learned this lesson the hard way! Love their little bar - the sangria is terrific and very refreshing on a hot summer evening.

Probably your best authentic Mexican food option in burbs. Food is good and definitely much better than the Mexican chain restaurants in the area. Best to go for lunch as dinner prices are a bit pricey for what you get. Don't go here if you are in a rush as the service is a bit slow. If you like Tequila they have an excellent selection

A quaint Mexican oasis in the middle of suburbia! I was impressed with the decor and ambiance, soft lighting with catchy Mexican music and tasteful wall fixtures giving the impression of perhaps being in a plaza. I found the food to tasty and of good quality. I think it's fair to describe the cuisine as leaning towards upscale Mexican, but still with familiar favorites. The only thing holding me back from giving Los Sarapes a 5-star review is that I thought the prices were on the high side for being in a strip mall in Horsham. Budget-minded diners can take advantage of coupons on their website and price specials they have on certain nights and times. On our visit, we had: one Premium Margarita for $12, one cup of Spicy Tortilla Soup for $3 and the small Planton de Botanas (appetizer sampler platter) for $21.

The food was AMAZING! !! I celebrated my 31st birthday there with my sister and my daughter. The only thing that dampened the night was our incompetent waiter. He didn't bring my daughter's juice for about 20 minutes and completely forgot about my drink order later claiming the bar was backed up. He was inattentive and completely ignored us after we spoke up to the owner. The food is just simply the best but service can be WAY better. For this caliber food service has to be more than just tolerable it should be enjoyable. I will be back I just hope they got rid of that server

This is one of our absolute favorites! We go just about every weekend - the only thing that keeps us away is travel. The warm and friendly ambience, the excellent, authenic Mexican food and the terrific drinks all add up to a wonderful experience. I don't understand some of the other reviews that comment on the expense - I think it's very affordable, and they offer coupons every week via an email update.

Our family has been in love with Los Sarapes since their humble beginnings in Chalfont, when the original restaurant was small and unassuming, yet had remarkable food and an omnipresent wait for a table. When we heard that a Los Sarapes was opening in our own neighborhood, we couldn't believe our good fortune! We have dinner there every chance we get and today are proud to call Mauricio and Amy our friends. The warmth of the staff and surroundings are incredibly welcoming, and then comes the food! We are Mexican food devotees, and Los Sarapes never disappoints! Oh, and the Margaritas are YUMMY!

I know my Mexican food, esp. growing up with lots of Mexican friends who would invite me for good home cooked meals. I missed having all the good Mexican food in Los Angeles. After reading the reviews here, I thought, finally, a good Mexican restaurant in PA. I was wrong. The soup was salty, and the food was bland. The weird thing was the restaurant was so quiet despite the four tables of people around us. We were all jammed into one little area. They claimed the rest of the restaurant was reserved. Well, the restaurant wasn't too big to begin with. And by 8pm, everyone was gone and we were the only table there. The waitress never came by to refill water or asked us how's everything. Bad atmosphere, bad food, bad service, and EXPENSIVE! I would recommend you st

  • Dasha B.

The food was decent - nothing to write home to mom about - the guacamole and chips were the best part. Our waitress was very nice, and very honest about recommendation. The atmosphere was nice and peaceful, until right next to us the manager/owner sat down with a couple and he was basically yelling into my ear - thank god we were basically done. We didnt even want to finish our expensive margaritas. We are loyal customers of Tortillas in Willow Grove, thought we would try something new, and realized new might not always be better. At tortillas you get one complimentary drink (beer/margarita), and FREE chips/salsa/queso! What a bargain. For two people, we have never paid more than $30 for dinner - and best part is bring in your own tequila, and they make you a pitcher of margarita for only $7!! At Los Sarapes it was $40 per pitcher!!

Finally an authentic Mexican restaurant that is as good as my previous favorite restaurant 'Tortillas' that is now closed!! Saturday night my boyfriend and I had an awesome late dinner at the beautiful intimate dining room here and enjoyed every bite. Their combo Fajitas were delicious and our server was sweet and attentive. Great drinks too! Thanks for the great dinner, we will be back soon! *the 4 stars is because the dishes are quite a bit pricier than the same item elsewhere*

This place is awesome; I have yet to find a better Mexican place in the area. I only wish their dinner prices were cheaper so I could eat there more. The lunch is fantastic though. Very reasonably priced and delicious. They have amazing burritos for only $8 and they come with a side of potatoes (kinda random but still good). Considering this is only a little more than Chipotle this is a fantastic deal. My favorite is the carnitas burrito. The chicken mole dish is also amazing. Very tender meat that just falls apart and the sauce is off the chain. As a native Texan I'd like to think I know my mexican food and I can't get enough of this place.

Scary: 1) We ordered the key lime pie. Limes are NOT the color of the filling in that pie! 2) It's a wonder they are not cited for fire code violation. Those tables are so close together and crammed in that tiny dining area, there is no way I will believe they didn't pay somebody off. God help the customers if ever there is a fire in there. No way is everyone getting out safely, no way in hell! There isn't even a clear path to the door! scary, scary, scary...

Wow, what a surprise in the middle of a Horsham shopping center! It reminds me of the upscale Tequila's in the city, in terms of size, type and quality of food. I loved my chicken mole and the seafood enchiladas were delicious as well. Must try the tres leches cake! I bumped it up to 5 stars because for the both of us it was about $25!!! A steal! We did go during lunch so not sure if dinner menu changes. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a bit more fancier Mexican cuisine. The place is really adorable and has great fast/service. I agree with the comments though it is odd they charge for chips and salsa, but not a big deal considering the food prices!

As you look at the front entrance in this small suburban plaza, you would never guess what delights lie within. Step inside to experience casual yet fine Mexican dining done exceptionally well. First timer's heads swivel a bit when they walk in as they try to see the other rooms. Guess what, there are no other rooms! One glance and you've seen it all. The décor is over-the-top Mexican but the overall effect is warm and inviting. The lovely wife and I enjoyed it. We were seated on time with OpenTable reservations. We perused the large drink menu and the lovely wife went for the 100 calorie Skinny Margarita for $10. I ordered the Patron Marg for $12. Both were excellent and served in interesting non-standard glassware. The wife was incredulous that her drink was only 100 calories. It was that good! We went crazy with a shared appetizer and ordered the PLATON DE BOTANAS for $20. This is their appetizer sampler and it's meant for more than two people but we wanted the variety. It was the perfect decision! Explosions of flavor from several different well-seasoned delights. In included the best guacamole we have EVER had. EVER! Our waiter this evening was Paco and he was excellent the entire night so customer service was not a problem. For entrees my wife ordered SALMON TROPICAL - This was broiled fresh Salmon marinated and seasoned with spices and herbs. It was covered with citrus-tamarindo and mango sweet sauces and served with flag rice and spring mix salad for $18. I ordered ALBONDIGAS AL CHIPOTLE - Mixed ground meats, formed into delicious meatballs with a cheese center. Simmered in smokey spicy chipotle-chorizo sauce. Served over our refried black beans with rice on the side and garnished with cilantro and corn tortilla strips for $15. We both agreed our dishes were inventive and superb! Nicely plated and correctly seasoned. Portion size was just fine. This was one of the finest Mexican meals we have ever experienced and we'll be returning again soon!

Service sucks. Have no clue if it's because we're gay or what. Food is good. But I won't be coming back anytime soon.

I really loved this place! I had heard from so many people that the food was amazing so I had to try it out. My friends and I went out to celebrate a 21st birthday...the margaritas did not disappoint! There's nothing I hate more than weak drinks, and those margaritas definitely were not! I do think my mango margarita needed some more flavor/needed to be sweeter...but hey, there was plenty of tequila in it so I was a happy camper. My friend's frozen strawberry margarita was the bomb.com though. My first thought when I walked in was "Wow, this place is incredibly small" But I honestly enjoyed it that way. The quality of the food was much higher because it's a smaller restaurant. It has a cozier feel to it than big restaurants which we all enjoyed. The food was so yummy. My friend, my sister, and I all got vegetarian meals and they are were spectacular. I was a little weary because I've never had a meatless Mexican meal.. But it was SO good. My sister and I got the vegetarian Memela with a side of arroz rojo which was delish. My friend got the vegetarian fajitas which had so much more veggies than I had expected and tasted like no fajitas I've ever had. The meal really had an authentic taste. Our waitress was incredibly kind too. Definitely try this place out!

Been coming here for years; it is one of my favorite local restaurants and is consistently good. The guacamole real, mole pablano and chicken enchiladas are among my favorites along with tres leches for dessert. It has a small, intimate dining room with a warm decor and very friendly service.

Absolutely love this Mexican restaurant! I've only been here at lunch, but would imagine dinner was just as good. The place is small and gets pretty packed at lunch - good sign right off the bat. The decor is awesome, I feel transformed. I've been to Mexico and this place looks and most importantly tastes authentic! The food is very fresh and good. Everything is seasoned perfectly. The portion are perfectly small and satisfying. I feel this place goes for taste rather than incredibly large portions of rather average tasting food. I've had many dishes off of their lunch menu and all were equally great! The only thing I was not a fan of was, surprisingly, the guacamole. I've had it multiple times and it always had way too much bitter onion in it. They have a cute little bar and a whole locker full of exostic tequila. Would be awesome to try some drinks. The service is great. Most waiters are very friendly. One time I gave our waiter a compliment on his Patron logoed shirt, a few minutes later he brought me one as a gift. Best part, this place is very reasonably priced! Most everything is under $10. I highly recommend this place and will continue coming back to it.

Don't let the size or location fool you, these folks are putting out seriously good food. On a short wait for a busy Saturday night, we had drinks at the small but very well stocked bar. The tequila list is extensive and the prices are very fair for a wide range of premium pours. In addition a nice selection of Mexican beers are offered. The skinny margaritas are very good and enhanced by the bartender's generous pour. The dining room is cozy. Service is fast and efficient. The guacamole is fresh, flavorful and slightly spicy, served with thick and crispy chips in a lava rock. Our entrees were the salmon and the spicy steak. The salmon was served in an outstanding tomatillo sauce. Spicy steak is not for the faint of heart. If you want and like hot, you've come to the right place. This is a professional grade heat that was excellent. These folks are not messing around. The rice was perfectly cooked. Beans were great as well. We didn't stay for dessert given the ample portions and large appetizer. Given the quality of the other food and drink I'd look forward to trying them. Service 3.5 stars. Atmosphere 3.5 stars. Food 4 stars.

I'm scanning through the other reviews and see some comments like "bland" and complaints that there is a $3 charge for salsa, and no refill. OK... This is a little different kind of place, perhaps a bit more "upscale". Indeed there is a $3 charge for salsa, but it is the best traditional pico de gallo and well worth it in my opinion. Not at all the jarred type. The black bean soup is excellent! Very different from the Cuban/Caribbean versions I have had before. Tastes like a chicken stock base. The pork was honestly a little tough, and dry, but very good flavor. Pork loin is not a good choice of pork to "stew" with onions and garlic etc. Loin really needs to be cooked with high heat and short cooking time...not over done, as it gets very dry. (Shoulder has the higher fat content and would have stewed fork tender") The portion of the pork loin dinner was not huge, but the banana leaves filled the plate with a very decorative flair. Ordered a side of refried beans. This is also very different from most Mex places. This was black beans as opposed to the more typical red. Also, there was a slight hint of cocoa added.... traditional, and excellent! Carne Asada was superb. Came with beans, corn masa enchilados, pablanos and small portion of pico. Very nice portion. Many "Mex" places are really more "Tex Mex" This was in my opinion more traditional Mex. Reminded me a little of the food in the Yukitan. We went on a Tue evening at 6 and the place was close to filled already. We tried to go on a Saturday, but the line was out the door. Each of the people in the line including me had a reservation. It really is a small place. The waiter was very attentive, and prompt. Will be back, but will stay with week nights.

The ambiance, service, and food were great. Prices are reasonable and most of the entrees came with a vegetarian option that didn't rely heavily on cheese (rare in a Mexican restaurant). Bravo! I also appreciated the delicious 100-calorie Skinny Margarita and the extensive tequila menu. We didn't have dessert, but our appetizer (chips & salsa) and entrees (vegetarian enchiladas and vegetarian fajitas) were delicious! We will definitely be back.

Been here a few times. I'm gonna go w a 3 star overall. Food excellent, ceviche, flautas excellent. Desert key lime could have come from Shop n Bag Additionally the top shelf drinks were a little light on top shelf liquor. Service--iffy!!! We were rushed through the courses and had to stop the staff from clearing 1/2 eaten appetizers multiple times Overall 3 stars , food was 4.5 stars though

The best Mexican food I've ever had (even better than in Mexico!). I generally get the ceviche as an appetizer and the fajitas as my entree. Tasty every single time! It think it is expensive for Mexican food, but I always say it was well worth at the end of my meal. My only complaint is the front dining room is quite cramped. I don't like being seated so close to strangers, particularly when on a date.

I've eaten here several times over the last few years. I've had anything from soup, to empanadas, to tacos and enchiladas. I've never been blown away. To me, the food seems heavy and bland. I also feel it is overpriced. Dining room is tiny.

I lived in SoCal for 8 years so I am a very good judge of Mexican food and all of it's different varieties and styles. It's probably my favorite food. I have tried many, many classic spots all around California 100s of times and even in Tijuana a few times. I have a Mexican friends and have had home cooked Mexican plenty of times at their houses. I know my Mexican food! That being said, most Mexican food in PA is absolutely horrible. People here do not know what it's supposed to be like and you will get many false positive (and negative) reviews on Yelp from people that don't know what they are talking about. To put it in perspective: Would you trust a native's review of a cheesesteak place in Seattle or Missouri? No. They don't know any better. Anyway, I have a handful of gems that I go to when I want Mexican that get somewhat close to Cali and Los Sarapes is definitely one of them. This is the ONLY place I've had in PA (and trust me I have tried all the recommendations) that seasons their food correctly and their tacos are almost identical to the style they do in California / Mexico. Their chili relleno is amazing. I have also had their enchiladas and they are great, too. The only complaint I would have is that it's slightly overpriced for the slightly small portions, but I can deal with it. Also, Salsa should be FREE. Charging for salsa seems so strange.

  • Kristina C.

Ooooooo boy!!!! Not impressed.... How does a Mexican place go skimpy on the chips and salsa...and no auto refill?? And really - one basket and small salsa for a table of 5 adults - come on...and they charge you 3.00 for the chips 3.00 for the salsa and 3.00 if you refill - totally killed this place for me! Salsa is chunky - not too flavorful - like a pico I guess. The large guacamole is really small - it barely gave 5 of us 3 filled chips a piece - it just keeps going.....wait for it..... We go to pay - they don't have change for a $20 and they will only take 2 credit cards...did I mention there were 5 of us? Spicy beef tacos were at least good - but not enough to give another star :( so sad because I love Mexican places because of the atmosphere and serving and service they usually give - not a great experience here - it feel like they are being really CHEAP!

Looks like a tourist trap inside. I mean it is a bit much with all of the stuff everywhere. It looks like my house at Christmas-too much! However, margaritas and fajitas taste as authentic as if mom made them (someone who is of latin decsent's mom that is). I really enjoyed the nachos. I know they are just nachos but the were awesome

Tried out the place based on good reviews on Yelp! and was not disappointed. In a strip mall, the restaurant is like a different world when you get inside, very well put together. The service was friendly and knowledgable. The food was excellent. I had the Pescaso Criollo and it was delicious! The seafood special was a fried red snapper which was picture-worthy and delicious, but a bit pricey at $42. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Who would have thought there would be a decent Mexican restaurant in Horsham? No lunch specials to speak of mid-day, so expect things to be a tad pricey. They charge for chips and salsa of all things, but the quality of the food is top-notch.

Been coming here for years; it is one of my favorite local restaurants and is consistently good. The guacamole real, mole pablano and chicken enchiladas are among my favorites along with tres leches for dessert. It has a small, intimate dining room with a warm decor and very friendly service.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
