We had a reservation one night and had to wait a little bit, which is fine. I mean it's not their fault when people sit and talk, I've been a server and I've hosted before too. I totally understand. I really like the food here! Comes out hot and is very good! Although I got a meatball sub and wasn't crazy about it. But everything else I've gotten here has been good! I will save the service can be ok at times, but I feel they are understaffed. Our server didn't pay must attention to us, but she was very busy. Also they kept taking our food to another table, then being like ohhh wrong table. But over all we enjoy it here!

I live in Branson MO, but born and raised in Altoona, I come to Altoona every year to visit relatives. We meet at JACK @ GEORGES for lunch every year. The food is excellent and the remodeling looks great. A history of Jack @ Georges . In the 40s it was owned by Zack and his wife, They were from EGYPT, She was a beautiful woman. In the 50s Louie and Angie KHOURY owned it They were from BAYREUTH in BAVARIA. They sold it to Jack @ George then later Joe and his wife took over and they are there today.

As far as neighborhood bar/restaurants go Jack and Georges takes the cake. This place has great atmosphere, and amazing food to match. The steak salads are delicious as well as the New York style hot wings which are a wing with the perfect amount of heat, and garlic. Jack and Georges is a great place to bring the entire family. Turn your back on the boulevard chain restaraunts that dot the Altoona strip, and head to Jack and Georges instead!

Passing thru Altoona and we stopped by for early supper. Enjoyed outdoor patio and comfortable atmosphere. Fresh tomatoes on salads and sandwiches was a nice treat. Will come back. Fresh quality food. Nice servers.

Made reservations for last night for a family birthday get together. We had a party of 12. When we arrived there it was crazy busy, I thought great, we have reservations. Well , they didn't have a table for us, they offered us three high top tables not even together.. They casually said "sorry". Really, I have never had this kind of experience anywhere. They had my phone number they could of called me....so disappointed , will never forget your rudeness.

Me and my family often go here when we are in Altoona. The atmosphere is great and it is family oriented despite the fact that the front half is a bar. The food is prepared fresh and the portions are generous. I go for the wings which are always crisp and the homemade dressing that comes with them is excellent. My wife get the grilled chicken salad and usually has to share it with my daughter its huge. Its a little hard to find if you are not from the area and looks unassuming if you do not know what it is. Also a great place to watch sports if you are a Pittsburgh fan.

Nothing fancy but the best bar food around. The baked Italian is huge. They also make their own cheese sticks, onion rings & other appetizers. Not pre-made but Home-made. They are the best. Huge portions. Very friendly place And you cant beat the Hot Roast Beef sandwich on Wednesdays!!

This place puts the "neighbor" into neighborhood bar and restaurant. J&G is a little out of the way - not near any major shopping or entertainment centers, but it is worth the extra few minute drive. I have been here several times and Terri, the owner keeps improving. The recent renovations and expansion, including the rear deck are great additions. The menu consists of a large assortment of bar food and standard casual dining items. Nearly everything is home made - even the salad dressing - and most items are home made entirely from scratch. Daily specials include fish on Friday - always popular in this area especially during Lent. I am not exaggerating when I say that everything I have had is good to very good. Their fresh cut fries are some of the best I have ever had. Portions are HUGE as you would expect in a good neighborhood eatery. Even the children's specials are big. Service has always been good, even during busy times. Drinks are reasonable with a good selection of national beer brands and a selection liquors you would expect in a neighborhood bar. My only wish is that they would serve more local/regional beers. Everything here is homemade so it would be nice to drink local craft brew as well. Parking is easy - two parking lots and on-street parking. Overall, this is a place that "gets it" and provides a great meal at a reasonable price, good service, good bar and a friendly neighborhood atmosphere. J&G will never be a chain or franchise because it is impossible to replicate everything they have. We are lucky it is close to us.

So impressed! Just got back to my office after picking up a large takeout order of 14 items. Every one of them was accurate, hot, and ready to go! The food is always delicious, granted I almost always get the same thing. Their salads and wings my personal favorites. Staff is usually pretty pleasant. Always a crowd there but never had a problem getting a seat. Fridays and Saturdays are busy though, so keep that in mind. Worth the stop!

What an amazing bar! That's all I have to say, the interior looks amazing since they added more seating, which really helps open it up a lot more. The food is amazing! If you are looking for the best wings in town, then go to Jack and George's!

I've never in my life had mozzarella sticks so delicious as at Jack & Georges. I know, this is a bold statement to make but I stand by it 100%. They are seriously something to talk about here, people. Good portion sizes, you could easily share an order of the cheese sticks with another person or two (depending on how much control you have). Service is friendly, but sometimes slow during their busier hours. Overall, very positive.

Don't miss the homemade ranch dressing at this little dive. We totally love it. The grilled chicken salad is my usual and is the best I've had anywhere, but my family also likes the little cheesesteaks, beef and chicken. The atmosphere is clean and not too quiet or too loud. Wood walls and sports memorabilia are the decor. Perfect for a six p.m. Or late dinner.

Jack and George's has great food, and it's probably the best bar food in Altoona. That being said, it's also one of the most expensive bar/eateries in Altoona, especially if you order their wings. The wing sauce is absolutely the best, but at $10/dozen, it's almost not worth it. If you are looking for great food and price is not an issue, I'd highly recommend this place. If you're looking for great wings at a reasonable price, though, there are plenty of other places in the area.

A little gem! Very nice inside and the food is great. We thought the prices at lunch were incredible. Steak sandwiches get 5 stars. Give them a try!
