Some of the comments on previous posts amuse me. I have been a somewhat regular at this place for about 15 years. I have never been disappointed. Let's start with this. If you are up-tight and/or a stickler for detail you will likely be disappointed. Nope the service is not consistent and the staff is unorthodox to say the least. If you are looking for a "normal experience I would recommend a chain restaurant. The place is quirky and at times I can understand why some folks might be uncomfortable. It's old school and seems to be somewhat disorganized but in my mind that's the charm along with good food and a "relaxed (at times to relaxed) atmosphere. If you go in not expecting a 5 star experience but just want a beer, some wings and maybe a burger and interesting staff and often interesting clients and to just chill I expect you will enjoy. It just is what it is.

After a few years of away, my wife and I decided to stop in for lunch... This place is really falling apart. Literally, it's falling apart. The seats are losing their stuffing, there are broken tiles in the floor and it's just dingy and dirty from overuse. Maybe if you are half-drunk it would be OK, but it's downright depressing. The chicken nachos that they are famous for have certainly gone up in price but aren't as exceptional as I remember. Maybe my tastes have changed... My wife and I each had a burger and I wouldn't say that they knocked our socks off either. Meh...

Once a favorite, now I'll avoid at all costs. Not sure I've seen a place go downhill so quickly. Managers, do you have any clue what goes on in your absence?? (Actually, I see a lot of the same behavior in your presnece, so I guess its standard procedure at your establishment)....Employees all cooking their own meals and then eating it in front of customers. Eating Nachos and using the potato chip bag as a community feed bag...licking their fingers and then grabbing people's dishes and glasses without washing their hands. Flat out disgusting. Customers will first notice their is no "back of house", unfortunately those who work there havent figured that out. We can see EVERYTHING you do, and I won't need to visit ever again.

This is a weird place. It's dark and feels like something from the 1970s. The food isn't great and the prices a bit high. A friend recommended the nachos, but they were just generic nacho flavored Doritos that they put shredded cheese on and microwaved. The bar itself is ok. If you only want drinks, you might not hate it.

Grilled wings!? I was in the mood for wings, and thus I ordered some, and wound up with some soggy charcoal encrusted pieces of chicken. Bummer. I don't know if the menu said 'grilled', but who grills wings???

Great grilled food, fun staff, and unique open grill surrounded by a low height bar (a relic as part of a now non existent department store). Kitchen is often open very late for those looking for a midnight meal and a night cap. Gotta try the grilled wings they will literally melt in your mouth.. The Chicken Lounge is one of the most overlooked and underrated spots in Allentown.

I had the opportunity to visit the Chicken Lounge after many years. My boyfriend and I were greeted promptly by a server and brought our beverages. It took a bit longer though to actually place our order. After doing so we were thankful we didn't order nachos after watching the cook use a dirty scraper to clean out the microwave and replace fallen food onto the order he was currently making. When we received our food, which came out in record time, we did enjoy it. The food was good....as long as you don't watch it being made that is! So as our experience continued, I listened to the inappropriate conversations between youngsters drinking at the bar and the wait staff and cooks. I even got to see the sloppy older lady, who desperately needs to style her hair and wear make-up, do shots with the customers. This is the same woman who acts as if she is a manager or something but as soon as I returned from stepping outside, she asked if I wanted a menu and a drink. Really??? I was just in here women. What a place....far from what it was. I will not return.

Great beer selection. Must eat the nachos, strange how well Doritos work as the substrate. Grilled wings are delicious. Service is poor.

Good food !!! Neat viewable grill/cook setup. They couldn't give separate checks. I was a bit confused about that.

What to say. Flavorful burgers, fresh, reasonably priced ... And the most uninspired service one can possibly find. I've lived here for 15 years, stooped at this place on my first drive into town, and it is exactly what it was back in 1998 - comfortable enough. The disconnect between the servers and the patrons is - if nothing else - consistent. They hire good people, but there's no coaching and management engagement - so these kids just exist but don't excel or build rapport with patrons. Better than neighboring Fridays, Lynx and other Dorney Park neighbors, but still - forgettable. This place is screaming for a new, inspired owner.

This is a very old haunt for me but when i come back i still love it here. Love the burgers, cold beer, and nachos. I had great service. I had just walked out of TGI Fridays because well...It sucked. As always. Yes this could be considered a step down in the world of bars. It is a step I enjoy. It is cozy, dark, and you can relax.

Grilled wings and potato pancakes.. home run! I have been a fan of this place for years. I always try and hit it up while I am home in PA! Don't get me wrong this is not a place you go before the prom.. but if you are looking for some good bar food this place is perfect!

This is your prototypical dive bar from the 1970s which is when this place opened. I did not have any food there because we had already eaten prior to meeting another friend here. I will say that the bottled beer selection is impressive for a place like this. The tap selection was also admirable with Dale's Pale Ale and Bells on tap in addition to the required crap beer (Miller Lite and Yuengling). Another plus is there beer is dirt cheap compared to my usual gastropub hangouts. The atmosphere is very relaxed, low key with a mixed crowd age wise which is what I like in a place. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Once you get visually past the very old motif of the place, it's a pretty chill place to kick back for a beer. I will try food next time I am here.

I only get here maybe twice a year but I always look forward to it. Great burgers, chicken and wings. Open pit cooking is the only way to go. Now they have an expanded beer menu. I have only ever been here during the day so I don't know what goes on in the evening. It is in a nice part of town so it should be just as good then. One time I went here immediately after surgery and ordered one of everything because I was still a little loopy. Had delicious leftovers for a week and learned a valuable lesson. It is always a little dark inside and no windows. Enjoy!

Stopped by on Saturday evening. Sat at the bar and ordered. Food was average, staff was not very friendly. Didn't realize how much a glass of wine was until we got the bill. Don't drink beer so . . . . . . I have purchased this type wine and I know it cost $9.99 per bottle, I should have had water. $7.50 for a glass of White Zin. Come on now, I don't pay that much at other places. We won't rush back -

Went Sunday after being at Dorney Park all day. I ordered the teriyaki wings for an appetizer. The teriyaki sauce was spicy which was unexpected but not a turn off. The wings were nicely grilled and came with blue cheese dressing and celery. For dinner I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with potato pancakes. The burger came with a slice of tomato and lettuce and no other condiments. The flavor of the grilled burger stood well on its own and didn't need any condiments. I tried the nachos. I wasn't expecting Doritos instead of corn chips. The nachos had a mildly sweet enchilada sauce on them. Service wasn't speedy. I was glad I had ordered the wings so I could begin eating sooner. Had a good time and my family and I will be back again.

Nachos made with doritos! Probably the defining factor. Chicken Lounge is a great little local shopping center bar. Feels a little greasy, a little scuzzy, a little suburban, but very comfortable. Pints were $2.25! Bar is in the center surrounded by tables and tvs. There are pictures of chickens on the wall if you forget where you are. The menus smell like Denny's. The friends I came with used to come here years ago so it holds a special place in their heart. For me, Saturday was the first time I came, but I enjoyed myself. Sunday was the second time.

I really enjoy the open layout of this place. You can watch pretty much everything happen. All the cooking is done behind the bar which is located right in the middle of the restaurant. The staff of servers is always a lot of fun and very sociable. Love the chicken- so delicious!

I'm surprised this place doesn't have more stars. Easily the best place for late nights, as it's open till 2AM every day of the week. It's a great place for closing servers, or people who can't sleep. If you eat nothing else, get chicken nachos. They are so disgusting, and so fantastic at the same time. I also recommend the ribs, which pleasantly surprised me. It's a really laid back place, so don't expect speedy service or overly attentive servers. Everyone that works in the place is really nice don't get me wrong, but it's definitely a place to sit back and chill with friends. If you aren't from around here, it's a bit weird to find, but it's really in a strip mall, next to a paint store and a kids play-place type thing.

I like it here... Good food, decent beer, neat old school feel. This place is legit. They don't have fryers, so everything is cooked to perfection on their grill. It's also conveniently located.

Food was average. Nachos were good going down but later got me and my wife sick. They microwave them on a paper plate. Food that was grilled had a funny after taste. Not like grilling at home. Service was just ok. I would say its a good place to grab a beer or a late night snack but if your looking for a good quality meal there are better places in the same price range.

I went here with a coworker the other day. This place is an institution - been around since the 70s. When I mentioned I was going, most people laughed. I thought this was an odd reaction, but I now understand why. First of all, it's in a strip mall. It has a lowered grill in the middle (I did mention it was founded in the 70s right?) and has absolutely no windows. Sticking with the name, a chicken motif abounds. Many flatscreen TVs giving it a casual sports bar sort of feel. This place is known for their nachos - and they were delish. However, I wasn't expecting doritos - they should include this in their description. We got burgers - which arrived REALLY late and were only ok. I would probably come back, only if I"m in the area and looking for beer and some nachos.

Most eateries located in strip malls have the tendency of getting a bad rap, or are accused as not being an "actual" restaurant. Where I wouldn't consider the Chicken Lounge my first place to go for dinner, it is an excellent place to go to snack on appetizers and get your drink on. The ribs are tasty with a smoky flavor. Between three people we nommed on two orders. The nachos are indeed made with Nacho Cheese Doritos! I thought they would taste funky but with the right amount of alcohol they were the perfect late-night snack. We also ordered clams, which were decent. Not great, not horrible. A bit weird with Smirnoff but that's neither here nor there. The grill is sunk into the middle of the place which gives it a pretty open feel. The lighting is recessed and Ikea-like. Perfect for late night dates. If you don't feel like drinking at home and have a case of the munchies, the Chicken Lounge is a good place to go.

Literally one of those hole in the wall places that you can't help but like because of its... oddity. The chicken pictures on the walls says it all. But in terms of the food, its tasty, and the prices are reasonable. I enjoy their mixed drinks (which can be quite pretty to look at) and the laid back atmosphere. Sometimes the service can be slow, but overall its a good place to hang out. A favorite for college students.
