I'm born and raised in California, so it's almost impossible to get 5 stars from me for Mexican food -- but I like this restaurant a lot so do give it 4 stars. Very friendly service, good food, huge portions for a low price. Big bonus that they understood our daughter's gluten allergy and worked with us to make her meal safe. Their sauces had the right balance of spice and sweetness, good consistency. Good options of whole bean vs. refried, array of combination options. Have had had the Deluxe and Tijuana burritos so far. Comfortable seating, colorful ambience (a bit dated though).

Great food, great service, cute authentic decor and nice atmosphere. Looks small from the outside but is pretty spacious inside. Very clean, we were all around impressed.

This is an excellent restaurant, authentic flavor prepared by an Hispanic stall. Friendly with good service

Great salsa and chips - Friendly staff - been here for lunch and dinner - all of it has been good so far - big helpings, and an over all win. Small restaurant so it may get crowded on a weekend evening, but we haven't run into that as of yet - would recommend a trip - especially for the salsa!

Had a great dinner tonight. The chips and salsa were very good, wish they would have offered us more chips. The food was very good, large portions and it was tasty. Our waiter was very quick but a bit curt. The drinks were good but could have been a bit stronger. We have tried several Mexican places but by far this is the best one we have found so far. We will go back, you should try the apple desert, it was really good.

Decent food, decent portions, and decent prices. It is not the best Mexican food but since options are a bit limited in the vicinity, I guess it will do.

Great little Mexican Restaurant. Reasonably priced and delicious food. Made me feel like I was home - Southern California girl, here. Authentic dishes, many choices great chips & salsa. Pretty crowded with happy customers - how did they manage to serve us so pleasantly and quickly?!? Did they KNOW what we were going to order before we got there? I will be back!

Great service, fantastic salsa, authentic Mexican cuisine, generous portions--what's not to like? My burrito was chock full of shredded chicken, and the frijoles were excellent. We plan on returning and trying more menu choices.

Just passing through the area and didn't know where to go for dinner. This place was close to our lodging so we decided to give it a try. Not the best nor the worst "Mexican" food we've had recently. I enjoyed my camarones, but not as much as I'd hoped. My wife had the fajitas and she thought the offering was good...although the taste I sneaked didn't sit very well with me. Didn't like the flavor. Otherwise, all ok.

Ok, so it's not authentic from Mexico food. But it was tasty, hot and hot the spot when we were all hungry. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The decor is cute and quaint. Nice for a family meal.

We eat there about twice a month and love it! The service is wonderful, quick, and the food is great. Best authentic Mexican food in town (and there's three in wilsonville). The burritos and enchiladas are above average. The drinks are good but pricey, otherwise five stars.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in my home town. I almost always have the same thing: tortilla soup and/or avocado tostada. Every time I sit down there, I can't try anything different cause those are so good. The rellenos are good too.

Good not great. Typical PNW Mexican food. Ordered a quesadilla and margarita. Margarita was good, definitely want to hit this place up on Thursdays (dollar off). Quesadilla was something I could make at home. Doesn't even compare with the Mexican food next door at the Carniceria. Will come back if I am craving some Mexican food, but won't make it a staple in our round of restaurants.

We have been here one time and ordered takeout because we had our dogs with us after taking them for a walk. We ordered chile verde, which was plentiful and delicious. The chips were fresh, crispy and very flavorful - some of the best chips I've been served in a long time. The salsa was fresh, lots of cilantro and very flavorful. We look forward to going back and trying more menu items.

Good Chips and Salsa...actually REALLY good chips and salsa. Usually warm and just finished. I wish they had better margaritas not your run of the mill sweet and sour with out any fresh lime. The fajitas are great as well as the shredded beef burritos:)!

Truly evil. The worst (American) Mexican food that you will ever eat. Nasty, nasty stuff. It doesn't get any worse than this.

This is a great restaurant to take kids. Even the picky ones can enjoy their burgers and fries. The Shirley Temples come in a cute boot. My husband and I really enjoy their chicken flautas, which is plenty to share. Their fajitas are great as well. My son always orders the beef taco on the kids meal and loves the beans and cheese on the side. Great Service and always patient, friendly and kind.

Okay, I'm going to be honest: This review is taking me about an hour to write. Not because I'm having writers' block, but because I seriously don't know what to say. This Tex-Mex is definitely "meh." A bunch of my friends have raved about how amazing Juan Colorado is, and every time I go, I always wonder why I went in the first place. Oh yeah, it's because the beans are cheesy and the chips are free. Mmm...manteca. Whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant I test them by getting one of two things: chili rojo (chili Colorado) or mole. Mole being my fave. While I haven't yet tried their mole, I've had their Colorado. Less than fabulous. Kinda like tomato sauce with huge chunks of pot roast. Not okay. The service has always been really good when I've gone, though. Even at busy times.

Reminds me of a slightly less fancy Fiesta Del Mar in the bay area with a similar decor - my wood carved chair had parrots on them. Food is pretty good and the service is good. I had the Arroz con pollo, which is chicken over a bed of rice and refrieds, with a delicious sauce and flour tortillas. It was $7.45, is no bargain for lunch but they have a lunch special every day that is $5.95.

I have been to this location a total of 4 times the first 3 visits were alright. Not the best but not bad enough that I wouldn't ever come back. Until this last visit, Our family of 3 when for dinner this past Friday, service was unconformable and the drink prices went up! We ordered 2 margaritas for dinner. we have done this before and the price was fairly reasonable. $14.25 per margarita is outrageous! I was not happy at all if i knew this was the case i would have never ordered this drink. When i asked about it the waiter just brushed us off and just wanted our card. Not happy with this experience and will not be returning.

This is ok as far as Mexican food is concerned. I can definitely go and enjoy my dinner there. They do have a rather large menu which makes for plenty of options. If you go on Thursday and enjoy a margarita with a meal it helps the rating. :) It's not abuelita's cooking but good. Did have to knock it down since I believe the tortillas are not made in house.

I went with my husband for lunch today to Juan Colorado's as we were waiting for our order we talked and ate chips and salsa, I noticed something in the salsa and scooped it out...it was a wiltted chip. When the waitress had given us the salsa and chips she had given us another little bowl. So instead of using the bowl with the wiltted chip I poured the remaining salsa in the other little bowl...and out came another wiltted chip. YUCK!!!! I told our waitress and she came by with some more salsa...really! I am never going back to a place where they put the salsa back in a container. Because God only know's what else they are doing. And I don't want to get sick!

It's about 60 feet away from what I would consider competition (Mexican market that serves prepared foods ). Juan Colorado and the competition are less then a 3 minute walk from Guest House Inn and Suites. My family and I walked in tired and a bit moody after a full day of driving. but the combination of pleasant attentive servers good chips & salsa and right about the time my family of 4 finished off the basket of chips the food showed up. It was very good. Definitely lifted up my family's spirits. My only complaint is that the enchiladas for the price could be bigger. Other than that I would recommend to others.

We love Juan Colorado and go there a few times a month usually. It's inexpensive, the chips and salsa are fab (warm chips and non-chunky just the right amount of hotness salsa), and it's never crowded. We are always seated right away, and they never hurry us along. As far as food quality, it's your typical Mexican joint. Big portions, decent food, and you leave stuffed.

This is about as meh as it gets. The food is okay, the service is decent, etc. But, it's like the Taco Bell of good Mexican food. There's a number of other places I'd prefer to go.

The only thing this is good for is when you live in Wilsonville and have a craving for Mexican food. It does the job, but it is never something I will seek out. The Carne Asada is really chewy, the Chili Verde is pretty bland, the huevos rancheros are probably the best thing I have had, but by no means great, and the chile relleno is forgettable. But they all approximate what you would expect and its better than taco bell.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
