Healthy Meal suggestions for Outback Steakhouse

I felt like I needed to go back and try again before I wrote this review. I've been to quite a few outbacks and they generally provide a good experience. This one however is one for the books. We went in for one of their promotions - free blooming onions when their race car driver finishes well. The blooming onion wasn't hot and the coating was not great. We ordered 2 filets, and somehow our server put down two different choices, both with the name "filet" in the title. The steaks were fine. When we got the bill and I brought this to their attention (a $7 variance the server went to the back, then the "back of house manager" came out to try and understand what happened. When I explained it to him, he began a 10 minute discussion on how they train their servers to carefully read back the orders and that his position is to make sure that we get what we ordered. Funny how that didn't change my opinion that we had both ordered the same entree but yet were charged differently. Mr Back of House manager continues to try and impress on me how I must not know what I was talking about because of the training / quality control / etc. Funny how that continued to not change my opinion. When he asked what was it going to take to make it right, I told him - take the $7 off. While he did finally do that, he continued to try and impress on me how I was just not understanding how they do business. Sadly, I should have just took it off the server's tip and left it at that. The back of house manager continues talking to me, which while I am not particularly upset about this, my wife is very upset. I tell him that he's not making me feel any better about the Outback. When he asks what can he do, I tell him - stand back get away from my table and quit talking, Then he gets it and walks away. If the wife wasn't visibly shaken by this encounter, I would have asked to see the "front of house" manager and suggest that he fire his back of house manager. I decided to just leave and do my best to make sure that neither of them have to try and re-educate me again as I will not be going back. Proving once again the old motto, "there is no such thing as a free blooming onion".

Great service in the front, they opened the door for me when we came in. I ordered the $30 steak and I asked for it to be cooked medium well. Let's say it was Rare. Brown on outside, with very little grill marks. The marbling was not cooked at all. My wife ordered the salmon and I might say this salmon was not fresh, yes I know it was previously frozen but it had been thawed for what seemed like days; fishy fishy. I think they cooked her salmon the same amount of time my 22 ounce steak was on the grill.

No wonder this place has such a low rating and Outback's reputation is sinking. Ordered the Flatiron steak tonight, medium rare. What was delivered was a well done hockey puck not fit for human consumption. I rarely complain or almost never send food back, but at $17 for that steak there was no way. They reluctantly brought another. The waiter then brought the check. Total was for $36.96 Gave him my American Express and when he brought the check back it had magically increased by $3.00 Had to walk to the bar and have the bartender look for the waiter. He did correct the problem. Still, I left $6.00 tip which I now regret. Gotta tell you, the gimmick that was Outback has outlived its time. The chain needs to make major changes like Chili's or they won't survive much longer. Never again Outback! Steaks at Shari's are 100% better too.

Always good steaks. Basic chain;you know what to expect! Can count on it for a good meal. Do call ahead for seating to cut your wait time way down.

Writing this for those of you in search of gluten-free dining options. Outback has a separate GF menu which made us hopeful. Unfortunately my husband had a terrible reaction to his meal (Alice Springs chicken.) Our waiter, Brandon, did not provide very good customer service either. Just didn't seem to care. The other servers that delivered our food were much friendlier. There were four of us in our party. The non GF meals were tasty (salmon, mahi, steak); broccoli was cooked perfect. Salads had too much ice burg lettuce for my taste and were swimming in dressing.

Maybe I remember Outback under a different light but boy were we disappointed. First I think they may have had an issue with having our food hot. The quality of the food just was sub par and not even close to the money spent. I don't think we will be back, ever.

This outback needs a revamp of staff my last experience was less then good both service and food. It's also expensive I feel if they are going to charge this much they need service and quality to be on parole people won't return to spend a lot of money on crappy food twice

Went there for the no-mis happy hour that is advertised on the website all day everyday bar menu. After showing up we were informed it is only from 4pm to 6pm. They should probably update thier website.

If I could give zero stars I would! To go service was horrible they forgot multiple items from our order with no apology. They gave us the option to come back and get it or a credit on the next order. I don't want a credit because I'M NEVER GOING BACK!

First thing that comes to mind...Lame. We went riding on a gift card left over from christmas presents. So I got all dolled up and decided it was date night!!! Besides the fact of it looking pretty worn out in there, the whole atmosphere was not impressive. After an extremely long wait they seated us next two three different families in open tables with kids running around and screaming. Service was slow. My drink was good. . . so I got two more to help redeem the current situation. I ordered the soup & salad. My "salad" was lettuce with 2 half slices of cucumber, and 2 cherry tomatoes DRENCHED with dressing. My date who is a CARNIVORE was very dissappointed when his "Grilled Chicken on the Barbie" arrived. The portions were small, and unmemorable in comparason to the price. I haven't tried everything on the menu so perhaps there's better meals, but I am not a fan.....it kind of falls into the same catagory as olive garden or applebees for me.

I had a very disappointing dinner at Outback last night. Today I read other Yelps and I have to ask "why isn't the manager getting on top of this location?" I was looking to have a special post holiday dinner with my honey. She's a treasure and deserves the best attention anyone could ever give her! My first bone to pick is that there were no tables available when we arrived; I elected to wait 5-15 minutes so I could get a booth instead of sitting at the bar. When being taken to the table we passed two booths to be seated at a cafeteria style table next to the kitchen door! I asked to be seated at one of the booths and the hostess said they were "reserved". Now when I called an hour before the person answering the phone said they don't take reservations; so someone lied to me. On my left I had servers calling out "CORNER", dishes clanking, team leaders guiding servers, and the pick up window was busy with take outs. On my right I had a ten top with kids signing (I have them too so it's not just about kids), two devoted NFL fans yelling over my table at the playoffs, and servers asses in my face as they attended. My second bone was my dinner. I ordered one thing and got another. The waiter made up for it and I understand there are miscommunications so I'll move on to the real issue. My steak was tough. For a place that specializes in steak you'd think they would know how to cook a steak! It reminded me of the last time I went to Outback, it was tough then too! Why do I keep going? One word "Giftcard". On the positive side; my gorgeous girlfriend's roasted prime rib was tender, her garlic mashed was very yummy, and all of our vegetables were perfectly done. Great job sous chef in a bag!

I was reminded why I don't eat here. While the restroom was clean at this location, the latch on one of the stall doors is completely missing. The menu items are on the more expensive side of chain restaurant dining, and you can basically choose from steak, chicken or shrimp. I choose a steak with a baked potato and lettuce wedge salad. My husband got the prime rib, potato and Caesar salad. The friendly waitress brought out the salads first. My husband's came in a hot bowl, fresh from the dishwasher or plate warmer. The Caesar salad was more like collard greens with salad dressing because of the wilted lettuce. The waitress brought him a fresh salad on a chilled plate. When the main course arrive, my steak was not cooked correctly. I asked for the meat to be cooked well-done, but it was still really bloody throughout -- even on the sides. An investment in a meat thermometer could have prevented this. The steak I had already sliced into was put back onto the grill and brought back to me tougher and drier than an over-cooked piece of chicken. (Isn't it a health code violation to take food customers have already picked at back into the kitchen to prepare alongside fresh food? I have no idea.) There is a different restaurant chain across the street that has longer hours, better food and more variety that I would rather go to next time.

Gross "food". Friends dragged me here. Typical chain restaurant, but the food is even worse than most. Low prices, low quality. Clean, standard atmosphere.

Outback running commercial for steak and lobster for $14.99. Went there and were told that this location was not participating in the promo. Felt more like a bait and switch scheme. The individuals in the next table were given the same excuse. I ended paying more for something else.

The food was ok (my husband wasn't that impressed with the food size for that price ) and we had to wait almost an hr for our food to come out. Service was ok too but we've seen better. Unfortunately it is really expensive there and we will not return anytime soon.

In general I like Outback, it's a good way to get decent steak and not break the bank. NOT at this location though. We came here for Father's day and beat the crowd, yay! We're all familiar with Outback so knew what we wanted and such. We started of with the mushrooms (they are "off menu" but you can still order them, I think they're called the Bushman Mushrooms or similar). Always good. Plus, can't bash that tasty bread with whipped butter they have. Caesar Salad good as usual. So far we're at about 4.5-5 stars.... Then the steaks come out. With the exception of the prime rib, no one's steak came out right AT ALL. Most of us either ordered medium or medium rare. Those with medium got well-done - aka leather. Medium rare was medium, almost well done. I see a mistake on one or two but all of them? Seriously. And no one came to check on us for awhile so my boy & I were too hungry to wait though 3 out of the 5 did get sent back. Not that impressed. Yeah, mean to bag on one time visiting here but I've been to the other one in the area MANY times and haven't run into this ever. No thanks.

For a chain, it's not bad. Good service and serviceable food if not near any good local places.

Fosters...Australian for Beeyah. Outback Steakhouse...Australian for...You dumb Americans think this is what we eat? The 1 star goes to our waitress, and that's all. My sister-in-law came down last week and really wanted to take us here for dinner. I knew what we had coming, but we sure as hell weren't going to hurt her feelings by saying, "No way sister!" Hence, the review... My sister was insisting we get the Steak and Lobster for $18.00. I didn't want her to spend $18 on my plate when I knew what was coming. The waitress told us we could get the meal without lobster for $11.00. *Quick Math* 4oz lobster tail=$7 more....we talking almost $2 per Oz of lobster. I'll just do the steak. The first thing to come out was a cutting board loaded with bread and butter. The bread was soft, tasted good and the butter was more of a "whipped" butter, so it made for a light taste. Probably my favorite part of the meal. The salads came out 2nd. What a piss poor salad. S-Y-S-C-O! Like whoa...It's seriously like they opened a bag of premixed and dumped it in the bowl...which they probably did...but I hate that bagged salad stuff. With 1 head of lettuce, 1 mater, and 1 green onion, you can make a salad 100x better than what they offer. Entree time! My wife and sister were silently eating away and I felt so bad that my sister was going to pay for what we were eating. I nudged my wife (to pay), but sister wouldn't let it fly. My steak was over cooked and just a crappy cut. Edible? Yeah... Good? Nope. My son ordered a burger that was $9 and it actually made me jealous. That's because it looked much better than what I was eating, the fries were better than the salad, and it was cheaper than the steak and lobster. If you plan on dropping $50+ on a dinner, please dont waste your money here. It's not worth it. In fact, there are MANY other places you can get MUCH better food for way less.

I came here to get a Bloomin' Onion and I should have left it at that. Those things are quite tasty, but the rest of the meal was pretty disappointing. I must now embark on a quest to find another like it elsewhere because I don't want to return here. The steak was forgettable, the mashed potatoes were flavorless, and I left the place feeling like I paid way too much for what I got. My wife somewhat liked her fish dish (she was also drinking, that probably helped), but it tasted foul to me when I sampled it. I didn't get the signature 1 star service that a lot of reviewers of late have complained about. We actually found the service to be quite good: attentive waitress, helpful bus staff, not too speedy but not entirely slow either. Food: 2 Service: 4 Ambiance: 3 Value: 2 TL;DR: Go someplace else for steak

Meh. We came here because my boyfriend was craving a steak and it is basically one of the only places open (other than fast food) that is open at 9 PM. We started off with the Bloomin Onion, which we were not a fan of. The spices on it were not good, in my opinion. The sauce was mayonnaise-based, which I expected but did not like. The prime rib was not bad! The waitress convinced me to get it medium instead of medium-rare (my usual) and said it would be perfect, so it was a little more cooked than I like. The baked potato that came with it was tiny! If I knew how tiny it'd be, I would have gotten something else. The bleu cheese wedge salad was tasty. I'd get that again. My boyfriend's rib eye was good. He liked it. Not much else to report. It was what we expected. Meh.

Mixed review - We read and wonder then we tried it. Ok, setting is casual but price is for fine dining. Qaulity of food is surely mixed - onion bloom is very greasy, overly spiced and overly fried for sure. Our parties have ribeyes and lobster - ribeye is thin cut and not regular thick cut, rough meat, cook to your order. Lobster is considered as good as red lobsters. Prime rib - first serving was bad, first piece of the night I guess, the meat looks like it has been sitting for hours, tough eventhough it looks pink. I complained, the manager gave me a new piece and it is very satisfactory. Mash potatoes was the same, first serving was very dried like left over and after complaint, it came with nice newly cooked one. Serving is fine, not fine dine but attentive enough. For the price, I would go somewhere else.

We have not been to the Outback for several years so four of us decided to try it. We went early and it was packed. The service was fast but not pushy. The waiter was great. The meals were all good. We will go back again.

This is getting worse. The place is full of TV screens. Some have inane movies on them. Service was terrible. Not a fan of inane movies or having my plates and glasses slammed down on the table by the waitress. Once food arrived, loudly, it was wrong. As they cook steaks here, one would think they'd do it correctly. But thats just me! With so many other options, you'd do better to spend money elsewhere. This place needs a rethink!

It's a chain. It's along the lines of Cheesecake Factory, Chilis, Olive Garden, etc. Set your expectations correctly, and it'll meet your needs well in this category. I now make baked potato soup regularly at home because we love Outback's version so much. Delish. The ribs are good, but my usual order is a Victoria's filet or some steak combo meal special. I've never had issues with the steak, though sometimes the shrimp or lobster is overcooked. My daughter craves their mac and cheese (Mac-a-Roo and Cheese). In my home town of San Jose, they ranked 4 stars because they were more consistent with the food quality. But still, this one is just fine. Service has always been good. If you order curbside though, double-check everything before you drive off.

We went to Outback tonight for dinner. There were 7 of us. My daughter had the sirloin and she loved it. The chicken fingers were delicious. Everyone else loved their food as well. The best part of the night was our on the ball server Lloyd! He was AWESOME! It was so nice having a competent and nice, attentive server. It was a nice evening.

Ugh, what happened to this place? Hubby and I used to go here every so often and the steaks were great and service was quick and friendly...a dependable place to go every time. Now the food is terrible and the service is so-so. Our waitress was nice but seemed very distracted; tonight is a Sunday night and it was slow, so no distractions I could see. Decent steaks at Outback used to be a guarantee, but tonight...maybe I should wait until I stop feeling slightly ill before continuing, but no, I must go on. Outback's side salads also used to be very fresh and tasty; mine looked and tasted like it was out of a bag. Maybe from the bottom of the bag...it had at least four chunks of lettuce core; very tiny amount of ranch dressing two tiny chunks of cucumber. It was all slightly wilty and flavorless. My husband's ribeye was very gristly. It looked like a steak you'd get at 2am at a Denny's. Except at 2am at a Denny's you'd be so blitzed you wouldn't notice or care. My tenderloin had a string running through the middle and wasn't particularly tender. I like my meat rare, I mean really rare, but this steak look like they dropped it on the grill then immediately flipped it over and voila! thought it was done. It wasn't rare, it was *raw*. We all got over a tummy bug a few days ago and I was craving some solid food, but dear god don't let this steak set me back again! I could say something about our toddler's grilled cheese sandwich but I suppose that wouldn't be fair. Our previous experience at this Outback was sub-par enough that we haven't been there in a year, and thought we'd give them another try. Well, if we give them a third try we'd have no one to blame but ourselves for our heartache.

This is one of my favorite outback's. The food is always hot and fresh. If you're planning to have a steak though, order it one temperature higher than he normally would. So if you want medium order a well. It seems to be that way with all outback's. The only thing I don't like about this outback in particular is a bathrooms are always so cold. Which isn't a big deal during the summer but during the winter it is a nightmare. That is why I only gave it four stars. Other than the bathroom issue they have great customer service and will bend over backwards to make sure you have a good visit.

Another chain restaurant that has declined over the years. The steaks are not spectacular and the cuts are average. Salads are bland and the bloomin' onion had dropped in quality since the chain initially opened.

I use to love OUTBACK a few years ago. Not anymore! Food and service was just bad. I came here with my girlfriend and parents after we flew into town for the Christmas holidays and wanted to get some dinner with the family. You're Better off with fast food or Applebees across the street. The Tab was about $70 for 4 people. :( After eating our appetizers, our waitress finally asked if we wanted to order. Of course, well 45 minutes later the food is ready and brought out. No crowd at all, not busy when we ate, so no there is no reason to take that long. The food was VERY SMALL portions and COLD! Also took way too long. The service the waitress provided was just poor. If we are at dinner, why is it too much to ask to keep our beverages full or at least ask! We had to be ask her 5-6 times throughout dinner to refill our drinks. I use to love Outback but they are nothing special anymore. Next time driving through this part of Tualatin looking for food, we will just drive past Outback and go somewhere else.

"Wow" when this place first opened, IT WAS THE BEST!!! We would wait over a hour to get seated, it stayed like for more then a few years. Great food at a good price. It seems about four or five years ago it started to go down hill, and it never recovered. Sad, because we miss a great steak house this side of Portland. We tried it again a few weeks ago hoping it was back to a great steak house, didn't happen. So I guess we will continue traveling into Portland.

I hadn't been to an Outback in a few years and never to this location. I was drawn in by the 14.99 steak & lobster tv commercials and a night out with hubby, sis and bro in law. We went for an early dinner because we had a party to be at by 6:30. As we approached the doors 2 employees pushed them open in a grand gesture, we were greeted by a 3rd and seated by a 4th. It was almost comical but we were just so happy not to have a wait. We ordered drinks which were ok, a bloomin onion to share (i don't remember them being so greasy) the men got salads and we ate the bread. Service was pretty good, the orders all came out correctly. The special isn't on any of the menus but if you ask about it they will explain what it is. Actually it's the regular $18 dinner which they discount to sale price and delete the salad. So really you jut aren't paying more to get a salad. our lobsters were VERY good and really nice size. (probably twice the size of what I get at Red Lobster) the steaks were ok. My husbands prime rib was definitely over cooked (looked brown on the outside eather than pink) My little 6 oz steak was kinda flavorless and pretty tough. Not real impressed. The staff was friendly and efficient though. None of us complained but there wasn't much raving either. Oh well.

As far as Outbacks or chains go, this location is pretty decent to me. It's funny that others have over/undercooked steaks here, because I was thinking that this is the only location I've been to that gets it consistently right. It's nice that they have a GF menu too, so it's been one of the few suburban places I've been able to eat when on a specialty diet. $9-11 for a decent or even mediocre steak, a baked potato, salad or steamed veggies, and bread (if you aren't GF) is not a bad deal. Much better than the disgusting chain across the street next to the auto parts store.

I recently went to dinner at this Outback and was very disappointed. It's been quite awhile since I've have dinner there--probably two years but I really wanted a steak and I remembered having a good one there so I went. Boy was I shocked at the difference time had made. First off, we asked for a booth and we're told we needed to wait a bit which was fine although the restaurant wasn't full and two booths sat empty that I could see. Finally they seated us but took us to one of those tables with bench seating on one side which I pointed out to them was not a booth. After being seated correctly, I ordered my steak. Now I like mine medium rare but was assured that there description of what constitutes medium rare, medium, etc. we're accurate so I ordered medium (pink with a red center). BAD MOVE! The steak wasn't even an inch thick so there really was not enough room to have a brown, pink, and red layer regardless of the efforts of the chef. Last time I ordered steak there it was at least a good sized piece of beef. This was a sad representation of a rib eye. To go along with it, I had the chopped salad--not nearly as good as I remembered and the baked potato which didn't have that nice salted skin I remembered. On the plus side, the sangria was good and the service was very good once we got seated, but their food has definitely gone downhill and looks nothing like the pictures on their website. I will go some place else next time I crave steak and they should take "Steakhouse" out of their name in my opinion. By the way, did I mention it was neither juicy nor that tasty? Well, it wasn't.

Walking into the the place, its clean and looks fairly nice. The service was great and that's really where the good points stop. I had the baby back ribs and the wife had a 6oz steak. the ribs were dry and lukewarm, fries were soft not crispy. Steak was cooked as requested (medium) but it was dry also and also lukewarm. For the cost the food was below par. I will not be returning here.

This particular instance of Outback used to be consistently reliable and the take away food was a great option. But in the last few months been four times in the restaurant and three take away orders had something wrong, missing or incorrectly cooked. Along with this downturn in order management and food preparation quality the service has also become lackluster. Definitely not the excellent attitude they used to have.

The king crab was still frozen inside and the steak tasted like jerky with no flavor. We will be back in a year after we forget why we weren't coming back. Servers are nice, this time we had forks. Makes for eating the salad a little better. Prices are a little high for what you get. Still looking for a good all around steak after we lost the Keg Steak House down in Lake Oswego.

My wife took me here for my birthday. Good food but our server was not friendly at all. She made me feel like it was an inconvenience to serve us. I don't think I'd want to bring anyone else here.

the red robin of steakhouses? You're at a chain-chain-chain-chain! I think the over/under cooking method is part of their gimmick. Because whenever someone asks for a steak they always have to explain that Aussie's apparently eat the bleeding cow. They have this tier of understanding that relates to how they cook their meat and apparently it's different than the scale you find at other places. Oh well, prepackaged food, delivered to your table at price higher than you think you should pay. That's the outback. Bloomin Onion - check 1,000 calories in said onion, check Strong expensive drinks, check Been to one Outback you've been to them all, check, check, check. If you love consistency of chain food more than actual good food, the Outback is THE place to go.

Oops, I knew better but we were desperate one night and stopped in to outback...uhh...where do I start. First, how does this place stay busy all the time? We ordered several things from the menu and they were all equivalent to frozen items found in any supermarket. The service is slow and cheesy (only word I can think of to describe), server sitting down at the table or almost getting onto the floor. Is this their signature? Sad. Supermarket steak, over cooked. And how the hell do they manage to add an extra 500 calories to every dang menu item, they must dip everything in fake butter because whatever they do sure don't make it taste good. Anyhow, this place is awful, the food is BORING and tasteless and calorie laden...YUK double yuk! stay away. I just wish they would tear this place down and put something interesting in it's place.

Perfectly edible. If you want a decent-to-good steak, it's not a bad place. It's also not spectacular. Order the Outback Special or one of their highlighted specials - I've had much better luck with those options than with some of the other, even fancier-sounding, cuts on the menu. The Outback Special is tasty but can be a tiny bit tough; the fancier highlighted specials are great (at least, the ones I've had so far have been). Other cuts range from tough to (more commonly) bland. They DO have a different standard of doneness, although they're not the only chain. Order by the color you want to get - skip the "medium well" or "rare" designations and just say you want it light pink with darker pink in the middle or whatever. Trust me on this. (It will almost invariably be underdone if it's not right, so you can always send it back to be fixed, though.) The mixed veggies are actually quite tasty, as are the garlic mushroom potatoes, among the sides. (Alas, a couple of my favorite appetizers which I used to recommend are no longer on the menu. Pity, they really DID set the restaurant apart.)

We went last Friday @ about 8pm after I got done working in the yard. I was somewhat skeptical and boy was I wrong. Everything was perfect. We did not have to wait for a table! We sat right in the bar. The service, food, atmosphere, beer, management were excellent. I was pleasantly surprised. We both had the Victoria's Fillet (and I will have it again) The most tender and juicy thick cut fillet. For maximum flavor, add a Blue Cheese or Horseradish crumb crust. The only thing better would be if I cooked it myself on the Weber.

I was surprised to see the 2-star average Yelp review when I looked up the Tualatin Outback to make sure it was still open (hadn't eaten there for quite a few years). We had been on the road for a couple of hours and were hungry enough to throw caution to the wind. We weren't expecting to be wowed--just looking for a solid meal, and Outback is pretty consistently dependable. We were seated promptly in Joe's section, and service was spot-on. I really appreciated that he did not pull up a chair and sit at the table when taking our order. That practice, which seems to be required in Outback Wait Staff 101, is something I have found to be particularly annoying. Joe kept the soda refills coming, brought us a second mini loaf of bread when ours ran low, and checked back just often enough. We started with Caesar salads and they were less heavily dressed than in the past--good. I ordered my usual - the Alice Springs Chicken, and it was moist and flavorful, just a tad too salty. My guy got the wood fire grilled pork chop with garlic mashed potatoes. His potatoes were very oily - didn't taste bad, but they had a strange texture and looked unappealing. I noticed the pork chop looked dry and seemed overcooked; he described is as "5 minutes past well-done." It was also pretty small for the price--there was an option to add a second chop for $4 more, which seemed unnecessary at the time, but he wished he'd gotten the second one, and wished the first one had been cooked properly. Well, anyway, we had room to share a Sydney's Sinful Sundae (vanilla ice cream rolled in toasted coconut, and topped with house made chocolate sauce, whipped cream and fresh strawberries). Their sundae is one of my favorite desserts Ever, and the primary reason I would go to Outback. This one however had less chocolate sauce than usual and the strawberries were so unripe they were white and crunchy. It was kind of a letdown. My guy's comment as we headed out: "I wouldn't have believed it, but the two star reviews make sense. And this was in no way a $55 dinner." Service was great but the food just wasn't what it used to be, especially for the price.

We were in the neighborhood looking at homes and decided to stop in for lunch. This particular Outback is pretty old and dated looking. In the entryway to the right of the Hostess Booth there was a bunch of random crap on the floor/menus/notebook/cloth of some kind, no idea why. The place was pretty empty for a Sunday afternoon. We were seated and the folks we were with put in their order for their Bloomin Onion. I ordered the steak and shrimp and for $20.00 I got a small baked potato/5 ounce sirloin and 4 shrimps on a skewer with some strange green butter garlic sauce. I ordered the Potato Soup which my Brother warned me is always served lukewarm but is tasty. He was exactly right, it was lukewarm but it tasted pretty darn good. They also served a small loaf of very dark bread which I thought was Rye but I am not positive. Hubby got the grilled chicken sandwich and fries and seemed happy about that. I told the Waitress that I would like to buy 2 of their little dark bread baguettes to go and to please put it on my bill. She said since we only had two with lunch she would just give them to me. She mentioned that some folks go thru eight or more? WTF? Very kind of her. We ended up getting the Blooming Onion on our bill but paid for it anyway rather than make a fuss. My steak was cooked medium just as I asked. The inside needs some sprucing up and the bathroom lock needs to be fixed. I think they are a little on the high side for their prices and on the weekend they don't seem to have a lunch menu, so it is not a cheap lunch meal. I would not go out of my way for any Outback location, but they are A-OK.

One of the worst dining experiences I had in recent memory. I received a gift card for my birthday and decided to take the family out for dinner. We ordered appetizers. The famous "blooming onion" was so greasy there was a puddle of grease under the onion. The cheese fries were sooo bad I don't think I have had worst fries in my life, no joke... I saw a ad on the table for steak and lobster tails. Ad on table looked good. What I receive was anything but good. The lobster tail was like chewing on rubber. The steak was over done and looked like a burnt hockey puck. I looked at the pictures on yelp and I see they are stock photos and not what they actually serve here. #4 picture of the steak looks amazing. The Ad's on TV with the aussie guys everything looks great. This place was so far from that. The rest of my families dishes had similar problems but I'm not waisting my time explaining. Oh did I mention the waitress was terrible and had major attitude. If I ever get a gift card from here I will regift it to someone I really don't like.

Yummy steaks and yummy salads and sides! The bread is the only part of the meal I don't like (and unfortunately the first thing you eat and will want to eat more of to fill up while waiting for the rest). Next time I go there, I will ask for them not to bring the bread and I will enjoy the rest!

When you go to Outback, you can count on a few things: 1. It's usually crowded. 2. You'll probably have steak 3. You might consider the blooming onion appetizer. 4. At least one person in your party will need to send their steak back because it is either over or under cooked. 5. The food will be pretty good. 6. You'll pay around $20-25 a person (+ tip) Seriously, it's hard to mess up a steak and potatoes dinner. That is unless you can't cook the thing to the desired temperature. I don't understand why it is so hard for a "steakhouse" to properly cook the meat. Some nights when I order medium-rare, I get well done, other nights it is blue. That would be my only concern about the place but it is kind of a sticky point. It is a steakhouse after all.

Great service, good food, great bloomin onions, and the filet is awesome along with the vegies.

If you like sodium chloride (table salt) this place is for you. Must be in the Outback food prep handbook that the more salt the better. No thanks, I'll cook my own steak. Why are there always so many cars in the parking lot?

First ever visit (Tues. 4/3/12) to the Tualatin, OR Outback and did not expect 5 star food or service. They have advertized the "$ 14.99 steak/lobster tail special" heavily on local TV and I owed a birthday girl a dinner so went to try it. This surf & turf is not clearly offered on the extensive menu but ordered wine & bloomin onion to start. I did feel a little awkward when "Miranda" (also bartender) unscrewed the screw cap on the Penfolds full bodied red..but was able to fight the desire to make a production of smelling the screw cap as it was so out of place to have her pour a taste for me. Twice, we BOTH asked for the advertised "steak and lobster $ 15 TV special". Alas, Miranda told us the baked potato was not available and we got reconstituted mashed garlic spuds...so cool mine would not melt butter...and by "cool" I mean NOT "COOL" at all but nearly COLD.. But the small lobster tail was YUMMY and the steak (later to learn it was a "fillet") was tender, cooked perfectly and tasty. That "bloomin onion" was great at $ 8 and not at all greasy. The Penfolds "Shiraz/Cabernet" was pretty good at $ 19.95 but I continued to poke fun of the screw cap. But imagine my shock when we got the tab and it turns out we were served the "fillet and lobster" ! Miranda insisted she read our order back and she did in fact say, "fillet and lobster". But I hate upselling and sneaky upselling is THE WORST. Big deal...they got me for eight or nine bucks. YELP, YELP, YELP. Do you think we should tell "Miranda" she might have adversely affected her 401k CONTRIBUTION? Oh, to be fair, they did give my lady friend a comped birthday Cheesecake to go.

I hate to even give this place one star. Here are the problems with this place: 1) Waitress kept making rude (and odd) comments including, "Your dinner is coming right out...if you still have room for it." (After we only had a little bread and salad.) And she said TWICE, "I'll bring out your drinks. Those are the best part huh?" 2) Alcoholic drinks had way too much pineapple juice. 3) Chicken was not cooked enough. It looked gray and had a rubbery texture. 4) Vegetables were old, rubbery and hadn't been cut so you had long stems and leaves. Basically it had no class, not good food, and watered down drinks. This place used to be good, so I don't know how it good worse. Please someone read these reviews and do something about it. There is a reason your restaurant is never crowded. 5)

I know chain restaurants. I have to go to them more than I'd like and some are definitely better than others. Both the chain and the location. So I don't have anything against Outback, but I do have a bone to pick with this particular location. Having had a similar meal about a month ago at another location, this was a poor experience by comparison. As others have noted, tell them what level of "pink" you'd like your steak to be prepared because the traditional "medium" is actually all pink with a little red in the middle. Two of us ordered the identical meal: same cut of meat, portion size, cooking temperature and sides. When our plates arrived it was like we had two different meals. Really kind of bizarre. I love a good sweet potato, but this one was overcooked to the point that it was all mush. We had to ask the server for forgotten items, she didn't know the price of a popular drink, etc. Sometimes I'm really impressed by the level of service at chain restaurants and it compensates a little bit for the chain experience. Here the opposite occurred. I've been to this location a few times before, but it has been years between visits. Now I know there is no reason to hurry back.

I am puzzled by the low ratings. Our service & steaks were excellent, prepared to match our requests. The side dishes and warm "homemade" bread & butter made our dining quite nutritious, too. Over the past decade, I have enjoyed Outback in every region of the US -- it is reliably good. Only this summer did I discover that my advanced age entitles me to a discount on all but alcohol [ & tips] with my AARP card -- that's a bonus on which I stupidly missed out for most of this century, up until now.

I should say 2.5. Food was okay. Not great just okay. My steak was over cooked but I didn't want to be wasteful and have it thrown out and I didn't want to wait for it to get redone and not eat with my family. Now .... I know people can't help their accents but the waiter we had his accent was completely like Nothing I have ever hear. Canadian and Minnesota at the same time. It was so painful to hear I just didn't want him to talk to us at all. I feel like a total jerk saying that but it really was grating. He was very nice and there was nothing wrong with his service it was just a issue for me
