Horrible tasting and over priced. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and had to ask for teriyaki??

Good value but not great taste. Having the chicken and shrimp. Lots of chicken, maybe six small shrimp. Not at all tasty and way too salty. They are busy but disorganized. Panda Express if your better option.

First off, let me say that I don't really like Japanese food. Why, you may ask? Because I'm a carnivore and Japanese fare doesn't usually consist of enough meat varieties for me to enjoy. Not to mention the portions are usually suited for women and little children, rather than meat eating dudes hungry after a big squat workout, or 4 hours spent cycling a mountain. Which brings me to Sarku, located on the food court level of the Washington Square Mall. I've always seen Sarku in the food court but never paid any attention to it because it was, well, Japanese food. I always ate at Panda Express in that particular food court, but this one day Panda was too crowded so I ventured around the different eateries and settled on Sarku, and I'm sure glad I did. The prices are fantastic for what you get. The teriyaki chicken is the only thing I get, I get get a double portion for only .99 cents extra. That's a ton of protein to feed these muscles after a hard workout. The thing I really like is that they actually grill up the meat in front of you. The chicken arrives very tender and flavorful thanks to the butter they use to grill. It's accompanied by a bed of vegetables, including cabbage, onions, celery, etc. and comes with your choice of white or fried rice. I always opt for the fried rice. Overall, this is my favorite place to eat in the mall. Fresh food, great price, and you get to see how your food is cooked. I especially like the fact that they use seperate spatulas for the raw and cooked meat. Food poisoning is a big deal to me.

I was cruising around the food court and saw a sign advertising their bento. I have been wanting one since the night before so I decided to get it. Line was decently long but it was not worth the wait especially if you add on a side dish that most people generally do not order. I got the chicken teriyaki bento with a side of potstickers. Everything was so bland and adding sriracha sauce did help but I wanted a Japanese flavor, whether I was at a mall or not. I thought it was supposed to be teriyaki chicken but there was no flavor. I did see some people asking for more teriyaki sauce but I thought that would be overkill thinking there would already be some when it was cooked. I was wrong to think that. And the tempura did not have the accompanying sauce. So yes I did have high expectations for a Japanese place in a mall. Then I had to wait an extra 10 minutes or so for the potstickers. I do not mind waiting. What bothered me was that the worker seemed to not want me to stand around the place like a hovering helicopter. He said he would call when it was ready and asked me to sit down and wait. Well the table I was situated in was way on the other side of the food court. I don't see why I could not have waited where I was especially when I was not in anyone's way.

Not the best customer service but they have the best chicken teriyaki with noodles. Nothing can ever taste better than sarku!

I tried the special not expecting much for being at the food court of a mall although the quality was really good and reasonably priced. I tried the daily special Chicken Teriyaki and I got the noodles for .50 more instead of the steamed rice. You also have the option of getting double meat for a dollar more. The portion was large and it tasted fresh, they also have bento boxes, sushi, tempura, dumplings and green tea. The portions are large and luckily come in a to go box.

Chicken terriyaki = pretty good. Shrimp terriyaki = pretty gross. Suggestion of never ordering anything on their menu with shrimp. I opted for this as I'm counting calories (and yes, they do post the calorie content for their food items woo hoo!) but I was deeply saddened when the shrimp was WAY, and I mean WAY over cooked. Some didn't even look cooked at all and the others were just so sad. Chewey and over-cooked from the flat-top. The veggies were ok. Nothing special; cabbage, carrots, and brocolli. Choices of steamed, fried, or brown rice was nice to see. I'd perhaps come here again....it IS mall food after all. Not too many healthy options out there. But NO shrimpies!

So I love this place for one thing only....teriyaki chicken with white rice. It is fast and tasty with just simple veggies, rice and chicken with sauce - simple. From what I have seen and heard - order nothing else. I tried to eat the gyoza which were cold and meh....although I might suggest a small drink since their medium is 32 oz!!

Very good and has good portions, a bit greasy but the taste of the food makes you forget about that.

They seemed to have stepped it up a little since my last visit a few months ago. Still, I know..it's mall sushi and I shouldn't expect much. What didn't like was I chose the Dim soup, it was beyond hot and they just threw a lid on it even though I was eating at a table like 10 feet away. It was fun trying get a lid off a steaming bowl of soup that was about to burst. The staff seem to be in be in "DMV" mode, just herding people through, I had to go back and ask for chopsticks after waiting 10mins for someone to make one dragon roll..luckily the soup kept me busy

The teriyaki sauce is bland. My lunch today was far to greasy. Not very enjoyable. Spice it up Sarku, you'll get more customers. I wondered as I ate it if anyone that cooks the food there tastes anything. On the bright side the serving was generous.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I don't expect mall food to be this tasty. I ordered the teriyaki chicken with rice and it was delicious! The meat was cooked to order and it was perfectly browned with just the right amount of sauce. So good! If you are in Washington Square looking for tasty food, this place is great. I highly recommend it.

The food here is absolutely disgusting. And expensive. I don't know what I was expecting. I purchased the teriyaki chicken with noodles, the chicken was rubber, the noodles (the best part) were mediocre, and the veggies were not appetizing.

Good food. I had the teriyaki chicken. The extra meat for 99¢ is not bad. The regular portion is decent though.

I cant believe anybody actually likes the food here. Me and my gf decided to try their new beef teriyaki plate. While watching our food cook, one of the cooks threw a large, slimy , fatty mass onto the grill which apparently turned out to be the dark chicken for their chicken teriyaki. I thought to myself "thank goodness I got the beef". After receiving our food the first thing I noticed was how undercooked my yakisoba was. The cook barely cooked them for even a minute. The beef was so chewy i couldnt eat it. I tried several pieces of beef and it was all very chewy and very very poor quality of meat. My gf and I refused to force ourselves to eat that crap, we both threw away our entire meals and we went to Sbarro. Sarku is one of the most disgusting low quality restaurants I've ever been to. I'd much rather eat a "Pink Goo" chicken nugget from McDs. Yuk!
