Meh, it's ok. Not bad by any means, just not where I'd go if I had a choice. And I do since 5 Guys is right up the street. They have the right idea, it's pretty much like 5 Guys in the way they give you burger options and make their own fries, it's just not executed as well. They do have chicken offerings as well, so at least they have something extra to offer. They just opened within the last couple months though, so they have a chance to pull it together. Then again they also have a chance to be lazy about it and get worse. We'll see which way it goes.

Haven't been here in a while, and decided to stop by for dinner with the family. Now I remember why we don't eat here...the food is really not that great. Saw that they now have fish sandwiches, which I love, so decided to give that a try. I was very disappointed. The fish itself was very flavorless and had an odd texture. The batter was way too thick and oily. I could only eat half of it. The fries were also very bad. We had regular fries, garlic Parmesan fires & chili cheese fries. I love fries and these were not very good. Maybe the oil was old? I'm not really sure but I would say pass on them. They do give a lot of food, but a lot of not good food is really not that great of a deal. I would say to pass on this place unless you really have no other choice.

For under $15 my boyfriend and I got 2 extra bacon burgers and shared a large fry(huge serving) & drink. You get a fast food price with sit in dankness. Its not the crappy thin bacon either. Great value

Bad food brought out cold. Probably because the guy holding our food in his hand to bring it out stopped and talked to his friends for several minutes. My wife actually got frustrated and got up to get our food from him, since he was just standing there with it, and she was treated rudely for it. Lame, Buns sucked kinda stale, meat had no flavor would compare to Mc Donalds (the big mac patty not the 1/4lb patty), had a variety of toppings available. I'm kinda a burger guy and was excited to try a new place, right across the street from my house. I'm not so excited anymore.

We stopped and picked up dinner at Boardwalk this evening for our family. This was our first visit. The food was pretty tasty. I really liked the fries. I'd consider myself a connoisseur of fries, so that's a compliment coming from me. I enjoyed my burger. My family was also satisfied with their food. In regards to the customer service, the young lady that took our order wasn't particularly friendly or helpful. She seemed to be rushing us to complete our order so that she could wait on the couple behind us. Unfortunately, the same young woman ended up giving our food to someone else. However, the shift manager stepped right in and had the line cooks remake the order. She did a great job making the situation right. Overall, it was worth the stop. We will certainly return to Boardwalk. :)

Five Guys want to be! The burger was mushy and the fries hard and dry. This was the fourth time I tried them and it was good only once , way back when they opened, not going back for sure

Quality fries! The interior is cute but a bit bare. There is a wide open space in the middle of the dining area looking like it needs a few tables. The burgers tasted good but were thin--coming from someone of little red meat love. A few of the toppings charge and they have smaller options than 5 Guys but other than that, they are quite similar. Boardwalk however has a larger menu like shakes, chicken and such. I'd rather go to Baja Fresh next door though.

The service here was absolutely horrible. The people working were quite rude. Also, I am not exaggerating when I say it took 25 minutes for our order. So much for fast food. The food wasn't bad though. I think you're better off at Baja Fresh next door.

This place is pretty funky fresh! I wasn't expecting such a hip, Nuevo burger joint when I stepped in, but that's what I found. This place could definitely give 5 Guys in the area a run for their money, and here's why. Boardwalk has a cool new look inside that makes you feel like you're at the cool new beach spot in Venice or Santa Monica. Industrial metal around the registers, cool new signage up on the wall, new digital menu boards behind the register stands, and one of those cool new CocaCola soda machines in the corner that spits out anything you want from one single tap. There is definitely a cool new vibe in this place that should make it a desirable hamburger spot for the area. The burgers here are terrific! They have fresh, never frozen patties and a very nice list of add-ons including fresh veggies, grilled veggies, bacon, different cheeses, and an assortment of different sauces. They had something I've been missing from other burger joints as well....combo deals! I got a delicious burger, a medium fry (which is huge), and a soft drink for $7.99. I know 5 Guys doesn't do that! I think the burger and fries I had were better than the "other guys" also. Very tasty! The only thing I didn't like was that out of all the sauces I had to choose from as my fry dipping sauce, they didn't have fry sauce. The ranch was really peppercornish for my taste, and the bleu cheese was a watery mess that shouldn't even be given out as a side sauce. This place needs fry sauce for their delicious fries! Overall, I'll definitely be back again. These burgers were fresh and tasty, the fries were awesome hand cut pieces of deliciousness, and I could get both of them with a soft drink for a nice price under ten dollars, unlike the other guys! I think some outdoor seating and good music blasting out the speakers would be some nice improvements, on top of adding some fry sauce! ;) Good job, Boardwalk.

I think the super cool soda machine went the same way the shakes did....out the door. We used to hit Five Guys down the road....but they don't have shakes there. So BFB&F comes along and they have great shakes. Perfect combo....burger, fresh fries and a shake. So I buy $80 in gift certificates for the place and go in last night to use one......no more shakes!! "The owner' decided it took too long to make them and so they are no longer serving them. 1) take down the signs that promote shakes 2) take them off your menu board 3) What the heck?? Did you not think about this BEFORE you opened a franchise? Without the shakes, it's 'just another burger joint'.

The burgers certainly are a whole level above typical fast-food. The buns a good. The meat is good, but always over-cooked. Toppings are fresh and a good selection. The fries are excellent. There's no doubt about it, these are first-rate fries. But, be advised to order a small helping. Apparently in an attempt to compete with the Five Guys down the street, Boardwalk has increased its fries portions to overload. They really don't need to do this as everything here is really in a different league from Five Guys, but some people base their restaurant choices only on pounds-per-dollar and not quality. Believe me, Boardwalk fries are so much better than Five Guys, portion size doesn't matter. The service here is best described as apathetic. They take your order and punch it into the computer. Then they slide your food across the table to you. And that's what you get. The dining room is typically noisy, but at least it's clean. They have gotten rid of the the 500 Flavors soda machine that proved to be a bottleneck -- pun intended. Now, it's a typical five-choice fountain... which means less time sorting through touch-screen menus.

Best fries ever. Burgers are good but not fantastic, still better than Red Robin.

  • Jung K.

Fries are good. Burgers not so much. The patty is unseasoned and just really didn't have much flavor. Prices are quite high unless you go during their "Happy Hour" The coolest thing they have is the soda machine where you can create different combinations of drinks. I've never seen these before in person and got to try out a bunch of fun (sometimes odd) drinks. Service was ok (maybe a bit gruff but maybe it had something to do with the cashier/employee being a foreigner.) I dunno but I like having my toppings out in the open (like a mini salad bar) for me to place on my burger. I don't want to have to request every single thing ahead of time (like ketchup? I have to ask for ketchup? Ugh)

The girl at the register was very polite and our food was good also. I gave 4 stars because the inside feels a little weird, but at the end of the day I'm going to eat, not look around!

Food prep is glacially slow. We got skipped over by multiple other orders who came in after us. 24 minutes later our 2 turkey burgers had yet to arrive. The reason "chicken takes longer to cook than beef." 26 minutes and the food has arrived. Marginally better than the turkey burger from Carl Jr.'s in triple the time.

Great burger. Great fries. Nice to get a burger just the way I like it... lots of free toppings to choose from.

I LOVE LOVE this place....I was a bit skeptical considering I am yet to find any great places to eat out in the burbs. I moved from California a few months ago and I have been on a mission on finding a great burger and fries place. The price is a little high I think we paid like $13 for large fries, double cheese burger and large soda. HOWEVER, WOW the fries are amazing and we didn't even eat half the container of fries because they were so large so I understood the price after receiving the food, extra large burger and extra large fries. They had great flavor, well seasoned and not over cooked. Great place to eat.

Fresh tasting burgers at a fair price. Similar to Five Guys, you have plenty of options to build your own custom burger. I ordered a single burger and shared a medium cup of fries with my wife, and it was more than enough. They have several specialty burgers that looked tasty including a bacon bleu burger and a BBQ burger. I think next time I will try the chicken tender sandwich and one of their milkshakes. My only complaint was that the fries were a little on the salty side.

First time there. Did take out and thought they were fast and polite. Burgers and fries tasted great. We will be back.

Didn't kill me. Was disappointed on the condiment selection. Meat was so plain it tasted boiled. The fries are decent, just don't expect a great hamburger. Also didn't appreciate Fox News being on the big screen while I ate, gross topics can come up on any news segment. I'll give them another chance if I hear they start seasoning their meat or offering condiments. Otherwise I'll stick with the other places.

Went today for the first time. Unfortunately it will probably be my last, unless I go back just for fries. I love these kind of fries...handcut...but make sure you eat as many as you can quickly, because they are awesome when hot & fresh...soon as they cool off they are soggy. I just don't understand the completely un-seasoned, flavorless beef patty. I even took apart my burger to inspect it and taste a piece of the beef alone...yup, completely plain and bland. They are relying on whatever toppings or sauces you choose for flavor. Once I dumped on some chipotle sauce, the burger was OK but not great. Squishy wonder-bread bun. Very skimpy on the toppings I ordered, although they ARE free. Just a few mushrooms, barely sauteed onions and 1 limp piece of green lettuce. Service was very friendly & prompt. Unfortunately, for a BURGER joint, the burger is really lacking.

Always good. The staff is nice and helpful. Tried it with a mailer coupon and was surprised and excited we had a new burger spot! Its a lot less watery than a Five Guys burger and fresh and crispy. The happy hour is a good meal deal and cheap for what you get.

  • Brent L.

Went there for the first time with a coupon, the extra charges will kill you! Customer service was great, however, the food is average at best. The fries were as advertised, #1, but the burger was lacking!

  • Justin S.

Our first time in, we spent 16.15 on two single specialty burgers, small fries and drinks. Everything about the burger was so plain and tasteless, neither of us wanted to finish our burgers before realizing we both felt the same way. The fries were alright, and the service was fine. Although, we still feel it wasn't worth the money and we will not be going back again. The absolute worst burger we have ever eaten.

  • Nikee W.

The service: Crappy. We got a lot of attitude from the girl taking our order. Also, the manager or owner was running all over the place which was weird. The food: Decent. I liked my burger, and I liked even more all the options I had to customize it. The best part of the meal though had to be the fries. Good grief they were seriously the best fries i've ever had, and they give you old bay to shake on 'em. if they put out more coupons for the $12 two burgers, two fries, two drinks I can guarantee we will be back. Otherwise, it was a bit pricy. Also, I am disappointed that the super cool soda machine was MIA. Seriously, where the hell did it go?

Expected to pay for a gourmet burger. Ordered $30 of food for 3 people and could have easily fed 4. The service was amazing, a smile at the counter and all. This was WELL WORTH the money and the trip. We will be returning here and not five guys.

I actually really enjoyed the food. I had a basic cheese burger and fries. I choose to take it to go. The service was great. The place was clean and everyone was friendly. It does great in a pinch.

Always fresh food made to order. While the burgers are always great, the fish and chips at $8.99 are a steal compared to more upscale a fish places and they are very tasty! My wife swears by their veggie burger

Feels like I got kicked in the gut... Went to Boardwalk today because we had some coupons for here and had never been before. We should have known things were going to be bad when we walked in and the place was a ghost town. Well we ordered anyway, and regret it. My husband ordered the fish and chips, and I the turkey burger. Our two kids ordered traditional burgers. They were terrible. We were hungry so we ate them, but have been feeling it ever since. Dingy old building, flavorless burgers, soggy fries. Never going back...

  • Allison B.

Not a fan. Got the mushroom Swiss burger- didn't have any condiments on it, no mayo or ketchup. Onions were so lightly grilled that they were bitter and the fries are ridiculously greasy. The entire restaurant smells like burnt grease and that smell stuck to my clothes. Very poor service as well, employees seem very unhappy. I won't be returning.

Service was great and food was even better. The chili cheese fries are out of this world and the fries are fresh cut!

We went here about 2 months ago. I tried the fish & chips and unfortunately wouldn't order them again. But, I have liked the burgers. Fries come in a hefty portion & they were good. They do have milkshakes now, my hubby liked that. They're a bit pricey, for the same amount of money we dropped for a family of 5, we could've gone somewhere with a lot more choices, more flavor & better ambiance. I'm rooting for these guys though. When we went in, they said they're under new management or new owners, something to that effect. Hopefully they can tweek the menu up & get more advertising around the neighborhood to bring us back. I'll put it this way, if we were hosting out-of-towners & they were craving burgers, we wouldn't suggest this place. Sorry guys!

I wanted to like you, I really did - you even sent me a coupon! Conveniently on my drive home - seemed like a great option for those, "Let's just grab some burgers and veg" nights and they even offer milkshakes, salads and a few more options than Five Guys etc. The folks working there were super nice and our order was fast BUT, well..........Nope, nope, nope... I was excited with the California burger because honestly I hate having to order a burger and do the cut this and add that thing. How can a burger with grilled onions, bacon AND avocado have no flavor? Because they do not season their burgers - at all. The onions were barely grilled - more like heated....slightly opaque. The fries - again NO seasoning, no salt...they were ok but honestly I was amazed at them claiming to have America's favorite fry because Five Guys are way better. We got the fish and chips to try it. The breading was super soggy, greasy though the tarter sauce was good. There was no crispness to the outside and way too much batter so the middle was pasty...yeah no thanks. I literally ate my meal wishing I had just gone to Five Guys honestly.

I had a great experience here. Everything was very clean and the person who took our order was nice. We got a burger, a veggie burger, fries, and some funnel cake fries. My boyfriend enjoyed his burger. My veggie burger was super good. It was a black bean patty and I really enjoyed it. I also really liked their fries. They were hot and fresh and had the right amount of salt. They also send coupons in the mail once a month ish in my neighborhood, which I definitely appreciate!

  • Josh P.

Their ad said they've been voted best fries since 1981. I love fries, all types, was so excited to try theirs... Unfortunately their fries were super greasy and tasted like three day old oil. That's when all the red flags started to pop up, the employees eating Baja Fresh in a booth across from us, the place totally empty on a Saturday at 5:30PM, 3 of 5 "build your burgers" were missing at least one item and their bathroom being out of order. As my 9 year old put it after her first bite of burger, "This place is really bad." On the bright side, this place will go out of business soon and maybe a 5 Guys or Dickie Jo's opens up in its place.

I am tired of the word "fresh." Also, if you're counting, "new," "but wait..", "natural", and "you may have won." Boardwalk originated on the Atlantic City boardwalk (New Jersey), selling "fresh, hot fries". Period. They launched a couple other locations, and recently, went into the franchised burger and fry biz. Excited yet? Me, too! Because lord knows there ain't enough burger franchises. I recently hit their Tigard, Oregon, location, in a strip mall a mile and a half from the nearest interstate. No street signage, other than an occasional blip on the mall's electronic sign, so it's in one of those locations where you would have to be seeking it out, or find by accident. (Spoiler alert, I have an attitude today). I went to try their signature fries. They come in three sizes, which are all ample portions, I conservatively chose the medium at $3.19, and it was too large for me to finish. "Sides" are available, a "cup" (and we use that word loosely) of chili, cheese, or brown gravy at .75 a pop. I went with the gravy. The fries are "fresh" cut, and fried to a light crisp, with a modicum of salt. On the condiment stand, in addition to ketchup, Boardwalk offers apple cider vinegar, Old Bay Seasoning, and Cajun seasoning, all at no extra charge. The fries were pretty good. Better than 90% of most fast food fries. They went well with ketchup, for me, the apple cider vinegar was too much, might be an East coast specialty, not sure, I'm more used to malt vinegar with fries. It was nice to have access to Old Bay, which I personally like; you'll find it common to seafood places up and down the eastern seaboard. Most homes in the Northeast have a can at the ready. A peculiarity of Old Bay is it tends to cake in the can, so serving sizes can end up being a surprise. I am guessing it doesn't contain as much (????) as my usual savory seasoning, Tony Chacherie's. No matter. It worked with the fries, and the fries with ketchup, not so much with the gravy or vinegar. The brown gravy is.........well, here's one of those phrases I hate.... It is what it is. Doesn't taste as "floury" as most commercial preparations, but does have that under taste of "beef flavoring," as one would experience in a soup base or bullion. It'd be good in larger quantities with the requisite squeaky cheese curds to grow up to become a full-fledged poutaine. That I'd like.
