We went to Elmer's for breakfast; the parking lot looked full, but we were seated promptly. We were greeted by the waitress within 2 minutes; I ordered an Avocado Benedict, and my bf ordered a potato pancake and eggs (over medium) with sausage. We also had our 15 month old son with us. She asked us if he needed anything and we said an extra plate. our drinks came right afterwards, and then in about 10 mins or less we got our food.(No extra plate, but that's not a huge deal.) I realized the hollandaise was from a can and had more of a chicken gravy flavor (BEWARE VEGETARIANS) than a buttery lemon flavor when you make it from scratch in the traditional french fashion... Which for an experienced Eggs Benedict lover is a serious disappointment, but any way.... My boyfriend seemed to eat a lot of his large plate of food, he said the eggs were perfect, and my eggs were done correctly as well. The avocado was fresh and so was the tomato, I ordered fruit on the side and it was also delicious and fresh and we fed that to our son. Our son also ate the chicken apple sausage and some of the eggs and we had no complaints from him which is very good. (he's at a very picky stage.) I left a 15%tip So to sum it up if you like True hollandaise flavor don't expect that here. the service is fast and okay. the price is a little high for a diner, but its better than Shari's and IHOP for the same typeof food, in my opinion.

I don't mind going here for breakfast once in a blue moon because for starters, it is really hard to find crepes made the way I like them in this town. I am part Dutch and am very picky as to how they are made. Hold that fruit please! My Grandpa used to make them nice and thin, with powdered sugar and that is how they are here. I also will some times get the eggs Benedict, and the eggs Benedict with crab. This last visit that is what I had and I it was good, but what I was displeased with was the fact that I said no chives! I am quite certain the chefs messed up and put them on and then realized the mistake and decided to just scrape them off! My guy got his food at least a few minutes ahead of me, and I found chives on my plate! It's not that I am picky about them, I just plain can not have any type of un cooked onion!!!! Even if it has touched my food, you can not just pick it off because it has already tainted its oniony flavor on my food at that point and then I end up with a migraine! Please consider this the next time someone says NO CHIVES! Because what if they had a worse allergy than I have? In fact I do know someone that can't have them at all, even cooked! His throat swells up! Other than my whole onion issue, the service was good, and I'm sure it won't stop me from coming back in the future, but the next time I will probably get the crepes.

We had a great time here. I was having breakfast with a friend from out of town and I'm glad we went to Elmer's. The portions are Huge!! (Needless to say I was full until dinner time ) we all loved our food and prices were reasonable. There was no wait, guessing because it was mid-week. All in all we had a great time... I WILL do brunch here again.

Great breakfast! Fabulous service! Clean and appealing decor for highway cafe! I had potato pancakes, eggs and bacon. Best potato pancakes with cheese, bacon, onions with sour cream on top! My hubby had berry French toast he loved!

Pancake Utopia with a giant parking lot, conveniently located just off I-5 and across the street from I-Hop. Elmer's is a chain? I had never hear of Elmer's... BUT...Based on a recommendation from my good friend, Yelp App, I caravanned my entire family over to this diner early on a Sunday morning. Once again, my Yelp did not disappoint. The food was surprisingly delicious! I was expecting a quality similar to a Denny's, but this diner was far above and beyond! Not even the same class! Cleaner, nicer, very pancake-centric...I would even go so far to say their pancakes were some of the best I've had - ever! Delicious, cakey, golden brown with crispy edges and a perfect buttery flavor; scrumptious wheels of delight that practically melt in your mouth! The omelet was also fantastic. They use thick slabs of smoked bacon, and lots of it! Egg whites and egg beaters were options, as well as "create your own." They obviously cook with only the highest quality ingredients! Eggs were fresh (not from a carton), vegetables had a fresh-picked appearance, bright color, and pure flavor. This was a home-cooked breakfast, away from home... And I can cook a mean breakfast. When we arrived at 9:30am, there was no wait for a table for four people. As we were leaving, just before 10:45am, there was a mob forming in the lobby (which looked more like a festive living room than a restaurant waiting area, complete with crackling fireplace). This place gets BUSY. Get there early! Icing (or fresh maple syrup) on the pancake for me: I love it when I see restaurant management interacting with customers and performing "temperature checks." The manager of Elmer's was doing just that. I'm not exaggerating when I say this was one of the most customer service focused, clean, efficient and best managed restaurants I've seen in a looooong time in the diner class. Perhaps THE best. Whomever is running this place is a business genius, and you can tell the employees take pride in treating Elmer's like its their own home. Bravo, management! Excellent! When I visit the Eugene/Springfield area, this will absolutely be my go-to for breakfast! Superb all-around!

I know! 5 starts for an Elmer's? YES! Not only was to food beautiful AND delicious, the staff was INCREDIBLE! Cheryl is the sweetest waitress I have ever encountered. She's very good at her job and you can tell she loves being here. She remembers her regulars (just overheard her tell a gentleman who walked in the door that his Pepsi would be out in a moment before he had even been seated). The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and, overall, very pleasant. Definitely a wonderful surprise! Cheryl is the best!

Big portions and super friendly staff! Great spot for breakfast and lunch! BF and I were shopping at Cabela's, Target, Big 5 near by and wanted to get some breakfast before we continue our road trip. We looked on Yelp and based on the reviews we came here. Not expecting too much since it's a chained restaurant. Upon arrival, there was plenty of parking since it was next to an Inn. It looks like a fancier and cleaner Denny's. We were led to our booth where we sat comfortably. I got the German pancake combo with two eggs and choice of either two chicken sausage, bacon, ham, and regular sausage. DELICIOUS! The german pancake is a giant crepe, so light and airy. The crepe is definitely an item to share. ~$14.99 The manager, Mark Keith (I hope I got the name right) was soooooo friendly and welcoming. I've never complimented someone so much on Yelp haha It was really nice to be greeted with warm customer service after a cranky and long drive. Kudos to your staff.

No flavor... at all. The gravy for the Biscuits and Gravy tasted like re-hydrated milk powder, the eggs were overdone, the potatoes underdone, the soda flat, and the coffee bitter. This was all on Father's Day. I would have expected better food due to the holiday, but well, yeah... not again. Not worth the money.

I ordered the banana blueberry crepes, YUMMY!!!!! Great selection of food especially on the breakfast menu. Fast, friendly service & great food! Oh and not to mention large servings you will not leave hungry! Their were five of us, everyone ordered something different and their was not one complaint. Super easy to find and very conveniently located off Interstate 5. Easy to get off and right back on the Interstate to continue our travels.

Had a mediocre Caesar salad with grilled chicken and a glass of wine. The chicken was dry, flavorless, and did not appear grilled, but was warm so an attempt was made to heat it up. The finale was the gross glob of unknown origin which was at the bottom of the glass of wine. So gross, I almost lost my dinner. Some ho-hum apologies and a $3 gift certificate to compensate. It was almost as if this has happened before. I will never go back to use certificate of course, but will show it and pictures to Health Department so they go and inspect the place.... just in case. Right now I am hoping I do not get sick! Otherwise, service was ok, considering it was almost closing time.

I stopped here for breakfast after staying at a nearby hotel. I'm really glad I came here instead of eating the hotel. Their menu has a full variety of yummy breakfast items. I especially appreciated their options for pancakes (and German pancakes too!). It was nice that many of the french toast, pancakes, and crepe items came with bacon and eggs as well. That made for a filling breakfast. The eggs were a touch undercooked but the rest of my meal was great. I'd definitely recommend this over IHOP or other breakfast places nearby.

Visiting from California, my mother in law told us about this gem. It looks like a cocos or carrows type restaurant at first but their breakfast is to die for. I've been here a handful of times, only had their breakfast but I've loved everything so far. One of the best items I love here is their hashbrowns. Not your typical diner hashbrowns. Theirs are thick shredded and full of flavor. If you come here and don't try their German pancake, bad choice. It's very addicting. After going back to California I went to 3 different pancake places that served German pancakes and none came close to Elmers. All you Oregonias have it good here with Elmers.

Well I'll be darned this was simply an amazing breakfast. Everything was hot and just delicious. They forgot to substitute an English muffin in place of the biscuit but were quick to fix it and very nice about it! I got the eggs Benedict which was perfectly cooked and my mom got eggs and a pancake. The pancake was the best! 10/10 would recommend.

It's Elmer's. A step up from Denny's, but with a more local NW feel. No, it's not cheap, but not expensive either. You will get your money's worth. Service is also consistent with other Elmer's locations - they are friendly and efficient. The only potential drag is that this is located as a part of a hotel which looks on the dumpy side. At the time we went to Elmer's the hotel name wasn't even on the sign.

What a wonderful surprise of a chain breakfast restaurant! We had three different pancake dishes and loved them all. Crepes, German pancakes and the usual American Flap Jacks each prepared with care and skill to bring out their authentic textures and flavors. All dishes tasted fresh and unadulterated. Service was prompt, friendly and smart and there were even fresh flowers in the bathroom! A great step up in fast food.

Decided to go for a walk in our neighborhood and wanted to get breakfast. Options were Denny's, IHOP, or Shari's. Took a chance and checked on Yelp and found the reviews of Elmers - so glad we did. The potato pancakes were excellent. Nothing was too greasy, and the prices were good. The manager checked in with us and upon learning it was our first time there, gave us a discount coupon for our next visit. The waitress was attentive but not smothering. Overall a very pleasant experience.

The best service and on Christmas Day!! While the competitors were either closed or over-crowded, this place was a refreshing alternative. It was clean and we were seated within 10 minutes. Skip the coffee- it isn't very good. I had the Crab Benedicts and my dining partner had the Strawberry Crepes. We also ordered a fruit plate to start off with. They actually brought us freshly cut fruit! And, when the apples tasted like they were cut with the same knife that was used to cut onions, I told the manager and he made it right! He also gave me a coupon for a free Signature meal on my next visit.

not sure where the pics came from as was not the case when we ate there. Prebaked biscuits were dry and not fresh, eggs scrambled... not too sure what they used for eggs as they tasted like rehydrated eggs. coffee was good.

Although it is a chain restaurant, food was very good. Here for Father's Day breakfast and created my own breakfast via a selection of sides. Waitress was very friendly. Although parking lot was full, there was no wait and we were seated right away. My only criticism is that I did not find the coffee particularly good.

Is this the best food I've ever had? No. Is this the friendliest service I've ever had? Quite possibly. The waitresses I've had here are amazing - so friendly and always willing to grab you whatever you need (more water, condiments, etc.). The restaurant is also always clean. The food is also better than your standard diner/family restaurant fare. It always tastes fresh and the quality is consistent. I almost always bring my dad here because he loves chain-style diner food and I like tasty food. Usually we can't find a restaurant that melds those two needs, but Elmer's does a good job. I have ordered the following: Bacon Burger - a standard diner burger, well done, with excellent thick-cut bacon, a tad bit too much mayonnaise; it was enough food for a meal for me and a full meal of leftovers for my mom Crabacado Omelet - actually super tasty, the crab tasted fresh, the eggs were fluffy, the avocado was excellent (perfectly ripe and tasted like avocado!) Country Benedict - this was rich, covered in gravy; I ordered the smaller portion and that was all I needed, I got my egg poached and it was excellent

While visiting our daughter here in Eugene we wanted to get small bite to eat and we sure picked the wrong place! The Mrs. ordered the Northwest Cobb Salad, fresh salad greens with diced chicken, smokehouse bacon, tomatoes, black olives, fresh avocado and hard-boiled egg and blue cheese crumbles and dressing. I opted for the Soup & Salad Combo, which was huge with fresh salad greens, garnished with tomatoes, black olives and croutons and topped with Caesar dressing. This was served with a steaming hot bowl of "Ivar's Famous Clam Chowder" (Ivar Haglund, legendary minstrel and restaurateur, began serving this thick and creamy clam chowder on the Seattle waterfront in 1938). To die for! My sweet daughter went for the Beer-Batter Fish & Chips hand-battered golden wild Alaskan cod, tartar sauce and lemon which was served with endless northwest fries and creamy coleslaw. She devoured it! We have eaten at a Elmer's before in Palm Springs for breakfast and found while yes, it is a chain the food served is superior other restaurants, i.e. Spire's, Denny's, etc. We will return when we once again visit Eugene.

Surprisingly good. I was expecting Denny's quality from a chain restaurant, but this was much better. Delicious eggs, fresh avocados, great coffee, good hollandaise sauce, friendly and attentive service, and nice prices. Recommended.

Elmer's restaurant was a good lunch stop for us on our Oregon road trip. It looks like your average diner, nothing special there. But I was pleasantly surprised by the lighter side options. My mom ordered the lighter side hazelnut crusted cod with clam chowder while I had the lighter side caesar salad with shrimp. She really liked her clam chowder, though she said it wasn't the best she had ever had or anything. Her fish and vegetables were cooked perfectly. She ate everything. My caesar salad was also great, and I received some scrumptious complimentary cheese popovers beforehand. They reminded me of the delicious but devilish cheese rolls they serve at Red Lobster. We also decided to treat ourselves to some dessert. Unfortunately they didn't have much to choose from, like 3 options if I'm remembering correctly. We ended up splitting the chocolate sundae. It was okay, but we wished we had wasted the calories on something a little more decadent. There weren't even nuts on it! Our server, Cheryl, was awesome. She must have had to refill my water like 5 times, haha. She was very friendly and attentive. Kudos to that kind of service!

It was a freezing morning, and Elmer's was a wonderful getaway! We were seated very quickly and our server was fantastic! People who work here are so warm and welcoming. The manager was walking around talking to locals. The food was amazing. It was the perfect place to go to get out of the cold and get warm food into our bellies. Thank you Elmer's for taking such good care of us on our drive through Oregon!

Friendly staff, hugh menu, great flavors. Darlene is a Doll. The Dungeness crab salad is spectacular and the crepes are better than France could come up with. I recommend ELMERS as a go to place for Classic Breakfast, Luscious Lunch and Bodacious Dinners.

Five stars should be earned in all categories. I'm glad to be able to give 5 stars do this particular Elmer's restaurant. The service was lightning fast, the food was exactly as ordered and served hot. The staff was friendly and efficient. An off duty waitress even offered to refill our coffee. The staff at some of the other Elmers restaurants should come here for training. If this experience didn't rate 5 stars I don't know what more they could do.

Food was what you would expect at an Elmers. Tasty, but nothing extraordinary...We were traveling so it was a perfect stop for a large group with diverse tastes/wants. Menu choice would be 3 stars, but the managers disposition and customer service really deserves 5 stars...so I went in the middle with 4. Server was quite polite, and friendly throughout the meal. At the end of the meal, however, when I asked about the salad/soup option that should have been with two of our meals she replied "Most people dont want that at lunchtime so I just dont ask. Want me to make you one to go?". Uhhh...no. Im traveling. Still close to 3 hours from my final destination, and no way to keep the food good until then. How is it your decision to just not offer these things that people are paying for? I did stop and let the manager know on the way out...I didnt want any compensation, just giving him the heads up on his employee. He was so nice, and genuine. He then chased out the door to give us a refund on one of the meals, and insisted that we take it. I would stop here again on our way through, if we make it that direction again.

Love this place! We pick Elmer's over Denny's or IHOP every time! Stuffed French toast, chicken sausage, and biscuits are just a few of my favorite things. The servers are pleasant at anytime of day and I have never had a bad visit. When my mother was up visiting she had the salmon eggs Benedict (about a year ago) and she still raves about how great it was! Also had prime rib here on thanksgiving (I worked a double and it was one of the few restaurants open) and it was perfectly cooked! Delicious! Another win for Elmer's in my book!

Probably the better sit down breakfast option in this immediate area. I had eggs Benedict which were good, not great. Bacon was awesome. Milk freezer cold which i love. But the service was top notch! And it was clean. 3 stars for the food, 4 stars for service

I'm toast with Elmers... man I really want to love Elmers but it's just not gonna happen. Maybe I'm spoiled by my family's cooking but on three different occasion last year we had breakfast there with out of town friends. The last time was Dec. 26, 2013. Seating was fairly quick for a typically busy morning. Staff was reasonably attentive - table was pretty clean - they do give you large portions. But that's where it ends for me. This place isn't cheap and while the food looks good it is the blandest most uninspired fare you will ever not taste. Filling yes - like uncured concrete. One of our dining partners was okay with her German pancake and eggs, bacon was underdone, not her preferred crisp strips. Another member of our party was unimpressed with her breakfast sandwich. and I ordered Lingonberry crepes having not liked pancakes or waffles from previous visits. The plate Looked good - but it tasted like cardboard. I could not detect a berry shape or flavor at any time. The crepes themselves were heavy and devoid of any flavor. The chef needs to back off on the grease and butter open the spice cabinet and find the vanilla extract or a little nutmeg or something - Anything! Even the maple syrup tasted old. The final straw was the coffee - it was terrible - tasted of very old beans that had been ground months ago, brewed with a makeshift paper filter and chlorinated water. I admit to being a little fussy about my joe. I do like fresh ground, fresh brewed coffee but I've been happy with Boyd's drip on occasion - but not this stuff. A breakfast restaurant MUST HAVE GOOD FRESH BREWED COFFEE. McDonalds coffee is better than this swill. At just shy of $80 for five of us I'm toast with Elmers. ( btw - even the toast was soggy and flavorless. ) Many more choices in Eugene Springfield area.

My first time to any Elmer's Restaurants since I am new to the Oregon area. I had a wonderful server who was nice, fun and quick named Tina and the food was great! I had the Turkey Dinner on the senior menu and the turkey was fresh and yummy, the gravy was perfect and the mashed potatoes looked weird to me at first but when I tasted them, they were the best I ever had. I would recommend everything about this place to anyone I speak to. My husband also loved his Fish N' Chips. Great job! Will come back again and again!!

Gateway in Springfield is chain restaurant row, how to choose? This palce seems to be OK almost always. Is that a good review? maybe not, be we eat here a few times a year because it's convenient and predictable. What can I say.
