Sat at the bar. It started with the bartender acting like he wasn't all that interested in serving us and ended with very attentive and helpful service, go figure.... He recommended the happy hour fish & chips and it was the best example I've ever consumed. I'm very, very old so that's a lot of consuming to compare. And the fish? Halibut cheeks no less! Add a couple of pints of Guinness to the mix and it's the meal most death row inmates would love dying to get. Highly recommended!

Fish Taco's are the best I have found and the beer is cold. I tell myself I am going to try other stuff on the menu, I have had the clam chowder and it's pretty darn good, better than Mo's. It's homemade, some days its better than other days and all days are better than Mo's. The interior could use an update, but it's better than the bars I grew up going to as a young adult. Look up the Hungry Trout in Brule Wis.

Been here a few times. The first time was a weekend afternoon while waiting for friends. We went inside, it was dark, not much to rave about. The next two times we went outside, once in the evening, once in the morning. The outside patio is nice and relaxing, I recommend going out there if its nice. The drinks are always reasonably priced, the breakfast was good (never got dinner). The menu is HUGE though. So many options. The biggest, most selective and easiest bar I have been to in Sherwood.

My boyfriend and I stopped by this place a couple weeks ago for the first time and I loved it! The outdoor seating area is great and the food is amazing. Favorite thing so far is the Monterey chicken sandwich. My boyfriend said the Reuben is the best hes had so far, and he eats a lot of Reubens. definitely going to keep coming back!

It was a beautiful Saturday night (June 8th) so my girlfriend and I decided to visit Old Town Sherwood to find a cozy pub where we could sit outside and eat. We drove by Clancy's and thought it looked like the perfect place! Wrong! We were greeted at the outside patio entrance by a nice young man who directed us to some empty tables. We sat and enjoyed the "festive" atmoshphere. And we sat, and we sat, and we sat.... all while SEVERAL waitresses and waiters walked by our table. Finally my girlfriend goes and gets menus for us. We took a few minutes to make our menu choices and put the menus down. Then we sat, we sat, we sat.......no one. All the while, SEVERAL waitresses and waiters walked by our table. I finally got up, went inside the restaurant and ordered 2 beers. The bartender was busy, grumpy, but finally got around to asking me what I wanted. On the way back to my table outside I stopped a waiter and asked if we could receive some service for our table to which he agreed and said he would be right out. We sat, we sat, and we sat..... All the while, SEVERAL waitresses and waiters walked RIGHT BY OUR TABLE!. We actually finished our beers, got up and left! NOT ONE PERSON, came by our table. The nice young man at the patio entrance was shocked that we were leaving without being helped. We passed a couple on the way in and wished them good luck on the service. Needless to say we will never go back and will not recommend this clickish place with unfriendly staff. (Except for the patio entrance guy!)

The fish tacos are unbeatable! All the meals our group ordered were great. I highly recommend this restaurant- not your average bar fare!

I like this place but....I think they are a bit understaffed during the dinner rush. The food is yummy. I have had the BBQ Pork slider place with the coleslaw...yum! and the giant nachos that I couldnt finish. The atmosphere is fun and friendly. The waitress is amazing and I like her alot. The building is on the corner of old downtown and is a nice place. The wine selection sucks but if you want good wine you are at the wrong place. Over all, good food, typical pub fare and friendly people and environment. I have been there a few times now and have not been disappointed.

My husband and I went into Clancy's for the first time this afternoon for lunch. Food was good but the service was incredibly painfully slow. The server/bartender/manager? Was nice but his co-workers were definitely not pulling their weight. The blonde server (?) followed him around complaining. Not really what I wanted to listen to when trying to "enjoy" the time it took to receive our food. Another employee came in while we were waiting and waiting for the check. She was complaining about her schedule. Ugh! Give us the check and let us go on with our day! We never did get the check the server took our card and rang it up. I think he knew we were tired of waiting but still, no check? I think the server/bartender/manager was a nice guy who was letting his co-workers bully him. IMHO. Good food but we won't be back...sorry!

Watch out they will over charge you if your not paying attention!! It's good food but you might pay double for it or they will add the tip of there choosing to pad the bill. Pretty shitty ! It's had to revisit a place that double charged me and on top of that they added there tip to it. Good luck!

I love this place! The bar/restaurant in town to hang out and see all those faces you pass week after week at the soccer field or dropping your kids of at school. The food is always good, the booze is always plentiful and the company is spot on. Nothing better than suppoting your local business!

I live near by so its nice to walk to town and grab a good dinner. Went in one night and asked my server to bring me her favorite dish. That is when I first tried the fish tacos. The fish tacos are the best I have had outside if Hawaii! Incredibly good!!! The staff is great. Very helpful and attentive. I will be back again and again!

Wow amazing place! We went for our first time on a Friday evening. It was very busy but got seated right away by the owner. We told him it was our first time there and he promptly brought us two nice size samples of their DELICIOUS clam chowder (his fathers recipe). Great selection of beer! Great service! We ordered the fish tacos and they were delicious! We'll definitely go back and try the blackened halibut!

Took my family here for the first time a few weeks ago. The food was good and we had fun playing trivia until it got too late. Support local business by trying this place out.

I visited Clancys with my wife and we were very disappointed in the service, food, and over all cleanliness. I ordered a burger and chips and they gave me a burger that looked like they just got their food from Walmart on sale. The chips were a bag of old and stale Lays. $10! It comes across as an Irish pub and grill but don't be mistaken. Eat somewhere else.

I keep trying fish tacos at different places and I still think Clancy's are the best I have found. The fish is tasty, the slaw is good (not soupy) and the sauce is great. A serving is three good size tacos and includes a side of black beans. Feels kind if funny finding great fish tacos and an Irish bar.

We stumbled upon this place as it was one of the only places open in downtown Sherwood on Memorial Day. The outdoor patio was charming, but that is where the charm stopped. The food was mediocre, definitely not the best pub fare. I had the cheeseburger - the beef was good but the burger as a whole could have been better with quality ingredients. Our drinks tasted off so the server was kind enough to take them off the bill. Probably won't come here again unless it's the only option open. We must be spoiled with Portland's pub food.

  • Laura S.

What can I say? It's a pub, an Irish pub. I've been to many. We did get here rather late, close to midnight I believe. Other than the handful of diehards at the bar, it was dead. The decor was typical pub style, lots of dark wood, brick, low lighting. I liked the background music could be heard, as well as our conversation. I had to walk up to the bar to check out their extensive tap options, and settled on a Blue Moon. The bartender was nice and patient as I squinty eyed the choices. Not sure what my friend ordered, because it had already arrived by the time I got out of the bathroom. We downed the beer, chatted for a bit, and left shortly after. Wouldn't mind coming back during the evening hours, maybe even try some food, as I was told it is pretty awesome.

Beware the bait-and-switch on Clancy's website re. their Happy Hour prices. The website states that every food item listed is $3.99. However their in-house menu states some items at $5.99 and $4.99 and only a couple at $3.99. I pointed this out to our server, but he professed ignorance and did not offer to even check their website, much less to honor the website prices.

This is a great location for some late night grub and drinks, not to mention their breakfast. I go every few weekends for their pineapple mojitos and a plate of their absolutely delicious fried zucchini. Their staff is extremely nice, and they do a great job at making sure your visit is a good one.

I loved this place! We went on a Friday morning so it was slow which was nice. The owner walked around with a coffee talking to each customer. Reminded me of my neighborhood family spoon in the 90's. The Spanish coffee was great and the breakfast was fantastic too. I can't wait to go back.

Yummy bloody Marys A+++ best breakfast I've found in the SW Portland area. Homemade chicken fried steak & biscuits and gravy are our favorites...

  • Andrea W.

Five Stars for doing what they do well. It's a low key Irish Bar with great menu. I loved the blackened halibut I speical ordered over a salad. And my mojito was mixed perfectly!! Honsetly had a much better dinner here than I have had at several of the more high end "wine country" restaurants in the area. Loved sitting on the casual patio while we dined. All 5 peeps at our dinner table loved their food.

had this taco craving.....Went to Clancy's for there halibut tacos and a couple pints of Base Camp ale. What can I say,"Right on awsome." Of coarse I had to enjoy a couple oyster shooters too. Now thats a saturday lunch....:)

  • Kitty T.

What was once a great place...... went to pot ... and you don't need to go into the potty to smell it. You can smell the urinals from the dining area. What happened? I am so disappointed, it was a laid back place to go, enjoyed a beer or two. Now, all the tables have napkin wrapped silverware and the first thing they do is hand you a 12-page plastic covered menu with everything from raw oysters to whatever.... it's waaaay overkill on the menu. My advice to Clancy's, ditch the menus, clean the bathrooms. If your bathrooms are that dirty, do you clean the kitchen? Why did beer go up to $4.50 a pint?!! Where' s the pool table? I miss the old Clancy's.

I don't want to be too quick to judge, but my first experience was not memorable. Clancy's is in a great location and it has such potential. Granted all I had was the burger and it was not very good. When i order a bar burger I would prefer it to have meat and not the 1/8 lb patties they use. So if you're into Burgerville style patties for the price of a gourmet burger at Oswego Grill then you won't be disappointed. Plus if you want anything more than chips as a side, you'll be paying extra. In my opinion, if you're in the hunt for a burger, AJ's off of 99 is roughly the same price, uses "actual" patties, and you at least get fries. Fat Milo's just a block away does a decent burger as well. That being said, I'm a big fan of supporting local businesses (NO WALMART!) and I see that they get pretty good reviews, so I'll definitely give them another shot. Maybe the fish and chips next time.

My man's fam lives in Sherwood, and when we visit we often have dinner with them in this cute bar located downtown. This Irish pub serves typical bar food (I like their chili with shredded cheese on top) with the latest sports games on in the background, and the environment makes me feel like I'm in a cute small town bar. The food is decent (especially for the price). They have outdoor seating in the summer time, and the old brick building gives you the feeling that if you were sitting in the same bar stool 30 yrs prior, it would look the same as it does today. The vintage feel is perfect for a casual quick bite.

I liked the clam chowder. Food was great. Good selection of beer. Owner was really nice too.

I am back to say, you have to come by and try Clancy's. Eat local! The food and the service are outstanding. Support your local business and enjoy fantastic food such as the fish tacos, burgers and the Irish stew. The clam chowder is UNBELIEVABLE. The happy hour menu is fantastic....Brad, who runs the bars on Fridays make tasty mixed drinks if that is your thing! You have to give this place a try!

I have been coming here since I was kid and I still eat here at least once a week. I gotta throw a little love to my boy Bob down there. He runs a good joint and provides a nice menu. First thing you need to know about Clancy's is on St Patricks day, it is a MUST to go down and have lunch. Green beers, bag pipes, and great Irish food! A lot of fun, and something I personally look forward to each year as well as all of the locals. There are several good things on menu, the fish tacos are good, but the Irish Stew is authentic and very good and huge portion. If you are lucky they may have the corn beef and cabbage on special. Have some fun, and the guy walking around with the coffee cup talking to everyone...thats the owner Bob. NIcest guy in town!

4 stars are mostly for the atmosphere. The food is typical bar food and is good for bar food. This is not the type of place to take a date you're trying to impress, but is an amazing pub for hanging out and getting a drink. This place is always filled at dinnertime with locals. They have a pool table (I think the only public pool table in Sherwood) which is fun sometimes. A friend of mine and I once went and asked the waitress what the difference between Kentucky and Irish whiskey is and she proceeded to explain and then pour us samples of about 8 different kinds of whiskey from all over the place. The staff is just like that at Clancy's, they're really friendly and make it a great place to go. I'm not saying they just give away free booze all the time, but this is an example of the type of people that work there. I guess my one caveat to this would be that I always sit at the bar and it might not be so friendly at the tables since they're not around as much, but I don't really know.

Clancy's is a great Old Town bar. The food is pub fare, the drinks are strong, beer selection good, prices super reasonable, & family friendly before 9 pm. Go here before hitting the chains on 99w.

BBQ pulled pork was good. Bacon cheeseburger was below average even for bar food. Fries had been sitting around a long time so order the tots...they will be fresh. Staff was great and beer was cold.

I'm going to update this review not to say anything new but just to let y'all know that I still come here often and enjoy the food. The Clancy Burger is huge! and delicious. Some reviewers have, in the past, legitimately criticized the restrooms. But they've been remodeled and are quite fine now. Clancy's has done some nice rework on the patio out back and, weather permitting, it's a great place to enjoy your meal. Clancy's prepares their own food in-house using a lot of locally-sourced ingredients. It's all very fresh and, for what it is, it's very good. Clancy's has been a Sherwood favorite for decades and it just keeps on delivering. It is what it is, a neighborhood local bar-and-grill sort of place. But it is authentic and the food is good. Come expecting that experience and you too will be pleased.

This is how you treat your customers that leave a bad review? So I got sick from eating there, we both ate onion rings. All I can say is please check the oil the onion rings are fried in. I'm absolutely disgusted that you would even send me this kind of message and will never dine here again. Happy now? Update: please have a look at how the GM responded to my review via the photos I posted. That is just unacceptable customers service. We will never be dining here again. PS: neither of us drank on the 4th so quit playing the blame game and check the oil your onion rings are fried in. I am aware how food poisoning works, this isn't the first time I've had it.

Finally decided to give Clancy's a shot and I'm glad I did! For starters, the waitress (receipt says Stacy) was amazing. She was super busy when we walked in but made it over to our table in no time:) She was very nice throughout the visit and did a great job on checking in on us. Without checking in on us too much. Got the chicken strips and fires. Chicken strips were really good and the fries had some skin which I like!

Really? this is what Sherwood has to offer? It's embarrassing! This place smells like an old bowling alley with more TV screens than Las Vegas. It's a shit hole with no toilet paper. What would be great is a farm to table restaurant that is well lit with casual people. I am not talking about some Portandia yuppie crap either, I mean real people that actually enjoy a good clean dining experience. Microbrews yes because we are talking local. The rest of this place, no way, clean it up.

I love Clancy's but I usually go to see their best bartender Brad. He works his ass off to make sure you have a good meal and drinks. I went in Friday to see him but he wasn't there. I turned around and left. I won't be going back.

Walking in it looks like a big open pub but is family oriented. It was quite busy at the time and my husband and I found a small table against the back wall in the corner.. We must of timed it just right though. Customers started to leave after what must of been quite a lunch rush. Good thing because we only saw one server and wondered if she even know that we walked in. It is definitely a local place. The over 70s 'mens club' lined all the seats along the bar visiting and watching the 5 plus tv screens above the bar. At one table dad was playing cards with his young son of about 10 and a mom with two young boys sat at a table next to us. The boys, about 7 years old, started reading their books while mom visited with the cook. Some local hangouts you can feel out of place but we did not feel that here. It did not take long at all for the server to bring menus and ask what we would like to drink. The menu is quite extensive from breakfast to filet mignon. We opted for the California Burger and Halibut Fish 'n Chips. The burger was moist. Not quite medium rare like ordered but still good. The Halibut pieces were a nice size and also prepared well. The sides ( onion rings, and tots ) were more then we could eat, even though I tried my hardest with he onion rings. I had their homemade Bloody Mary. It was spices with a bite, but it lacked other flavors making it more just a spice tomato juice. It was not worth the price. The service was great. There are many tempting items on the menu. We will be back !

Clancy's is probably my favorite Sherwood restaurant. I've loved their fish tacos from the first time I visited, but let me tell you - their clam chowder is THE BEST I've ever had! Staff is awesome and great atmosphere!

Service wasn't bad. Beer selection was numerous, but not really varied. The food we ordered was bad. A bar that can't make chicken strips is unimpressive.

I really enjoy Clancys. We live blocks away and find ourselves here more often then any other restaurant in the Portland area. The staff is always friendly, food is always fresh, and the beer is always flowing. My favorite continues to be the California burger and their clam chowder. It's better then anything you will get at the coast and you can tell its home made. Onion rings are on point and I love that a champagne cocktail only costs me $5. I love being able to support a family owned local business that continues to deliver a great experience!

Gotta be honest. Worst breakfast I've had in years. Cold toast not buttered. Hair on my plate. Burned eggs. Shitty shitty food. Cute bar though. Maybe they're better at lunch and dinner food.

Turned to Yelp for food in the Sherwood area, found Clancy's. Wow, this place rocks!! Hubby and I picked up a late night order of the halibut sandwiches, they were so good! I think this was the best fish sandwhich I've ever had! I just came from Newport and didn't see a fish sandwhich like this out there. Tartar sauce is homemade too. Will definitely order from Clancy's again.

Clancy's is an icon in Sherwood. The staff is great, very little turnover. The bar is kinda run down but that's character. The menu is very large and some good food can be found. The quality has slipped some in recent years. No NFL package bummer!

    (3)
  • Brenda K.

Clancy's is right down the street from us and definitely a local hangout. Super fun atmosphere...very laid back! The quality of food isn't awesome, but that is my only complaint. (Wish they offered more sustainable foods). My husband and I have been several times and brought several guests who always have a good time. Definitely a great place to kick back after work!

    (4)
  • Ariel B.

I love their trivia night! Ellen is a wonderful host and really hits a diversity of subjects-- every Tuesday at 730. The staff is really friendly when you make an effort to get to know them, but they are busy. They make it feel like the neighborhood bar that it is. The food is overpriced and nothing to write home about, but the happy hour options after 930 are pretty decent.

    (4)
  • Jill R.

My family loves to go to Clancy's. I like to have some more healthy options, so it's harder for me to eat there (although I can be known to steal a french fry or two). It's definitely a laid back place to go.

Family friendly until 9pm, open 7 days a week, not just bar food - there's also great family recipes on the menu! The selection is wide, the portions are generous, the prices are fair and there's even daily specials. Very friendly service, family run and owned establishment and everyone knows your name feel! If you like trivia nights or bingo, they offer events too! Great place to take the family or meet up with friends. Save the date, if you're looking for St. Patrick's Day fun, Clancy's delivers! We love Sherwood, and this locally owned hot spot has been around for over 25 years now. It's a great place to come enjoy not only a historic attraction, but the overall ambiance of Old Town Sherwood. P.S. GREAT (award-winning) Clam Chowder 7 days a week too! If you are looking for a fun place to have a beverage and some pub food this is it. They have lots of good beer choices on tap and a full bar as well. The burgers are all delicious and tots or French fries are yummy. My favorite to order is their oyster club sandwich. It is the best I've had. My hubby likes the razor clams. I will warn you if your going with your heart set on either of those choice you might call to double check they're not sold out. Kids are allowed until 9pm I believe and we quite frequently go after sports practice for dinner. Lots of TVs with sports and video poker if that's your thing. We like the small town "cheers" kinda feel.

Food ordered was pretty gross. Nothing special except their out door seating section for summers. Liquor was cheap, so I might go back for a drink on a hot day, but I would never order the food again.

    (2)
  • Kevin G.

I'm giving Clancy's 3 of 5. The place is by all means acceptable, and the clam chowder is awesome. We also ordered fried zucchini and they were just about the worst zucchini I've ever had. The place has a restaurant feel and seems popular with the biker crowd on the patio. Inside feels like it wants to be a restaurant and wants to be a bar, but really makes a mess of both. Overall the place is okay, but worth stopping into, especially for the chowder.
