Trish, our waitress, made our late night dinner a wonderful experience. Such a pleasant smile after a long day of travel. The food was good a delievered on a plate that was very orderly. The prices were well in line for what we ordered.

Prices are fair but took forever to get the food out. Had to serve our own water. Brother sat with no hot chocolate for a good ten minutes. We visited around midnight -- there was about 5 people total already present at the establishment.

Im giving it 4 stars as if rating it on a 3 star restaurant scale. Hear me out. This isnt a 4 star or 5 star restaurant. Its a 3ish star restaurant, but as far as 3 star restaurants are concerned, its pretty good. On a scale of 3 star restaurants, all of them being rated on a 1-5 scale, its a 4. I like the selection of burgers, sandwiches, salads. And PIE! The price isnt bad, its basically a better version of Denny's. Their portions are rather large, and honestly, their northwest steak salad, specifically at this location, is the best. Other locations seem to forget that it comes with pecans and bleu cheese crumbles, but this location gets it right every time. Ive been coming here for dates with my little guy for his entire nearly 6 years of life. Furthermore, Ive been going to Shari's restaurants since high school. This isnt my go to First Date place. You can surely find nicer places to take a gal to on your first date, but this is a place I dont mind going there on just a random Tuesday evening for a night out. This location has the most consistent when it comes to food, in my opinion. :) also it has the option of purchasing holiday dinners for a reasonable rate if you dont like to, or like myself, cant, cook.

They offer me the senior discount!!! REALLY? is that the way to endear a customers? I like the food but feel out of place.

We occasionally eat at this restaurant, and find service to be slow, food comes after waiting extended amount of time, amounts vary from visit to visit and the service is hit and miss. Coffee and water refills are almost non-happenings and order mistakes are frequent. I really sound dissatisfied. Well, actually I am and eat at Shari's only when my wife insists.

This is a 5 star because our server Super Manuel made our lunch fantastic! The nachos, Cuban sandwich, sweet potato fries and blueberry pie were all yummy. The real star here is Manuel. He made this diner spectacular. This is a must if you're in Salem!

Ah Shari's. You have once again provided a more than adequate hang out for my friends and I. We were back again Saturday night around 8pm. This time it was only four of us, although we had been expecting more and had been given one of the larger corner tables. Our waitress was forewarned that we would be there for a while, and not to worry about rushing to take orders. She was happy to comply. During the course of the evening, several of the other waitresses stopped by to talk, as we've been coming for so long we know most by name. Our snack food orders of fries and potato skins came hot and tasty. Our drinks never went empty (except for the one time my carafe of coffee ran low and rather than wait for the waitress, my hero got up and went to the station himself! Chivalry does exist) A very good evening that only got better when we left to go back to my friend's house. Thank you Shari's!

Our first time at this Sharis, and likely our last. The breakfast orders were easy, an every order was off. 2 standard breakfasts with requests for bacon to be crisp. On both plates the bacon was borderline raw and at least 90% fat with little to no meat. Also, the toast was cold, limp and the heel section of the loaf. The senior citizen breakfast, the bacon again was borderline raw, even after a specific request to "make it black". The bacon had to be sent off to get recooked. The stuffed hash browns were cold, and had maybe one small spoonful of sour cream. The eggs were ordered over medium, and came out sloppy over easy. Super Mannie was our waiter, and was very nice and attentive. The only thing I would say is he should have asked about the bacon as it was all left on the plates.

One of my favorite Sharis...very open and friendly layout....so you don't feel squeezed once inside. Staff seems better at this location than most other Sharis. So if you're in Salem, check out this particular Sharis!

The food here was not the best tasting or well cooked. I had the calamari appetizer, which was soggy and just not good.. And I had a burger for my main course which was quite bland... the only good part of the meal (that gave a 2 star score) was the amazingly good pie.

Liked their pot roast. Need more help. Very busy and not enough waitresses. Other wise good.

I'm opposite of some other reviewers- my service was fantastic. (Hence the only star I could justify giving). With that being said, my food was terrible, and I'm not one to complain. Not at the fault of the cooks by any means, but more fault at the hands of Shari's itself. I ordered their "famous" potato pancakes, that came with a side of cinnamon apples and sour cream- a common side to such a dish. What arrived on my table was far from the picture the menu displayed. Yes the pancakes were arranged nicely with decent presentation, but for "famous" potato pancakes I had hoped that they were, I don't know, maybe not store bought, pre-shaped, fried mashed potatoes? I very much DO NOT recommend these. -coming from a not wry picky eater and an overall potato-in-all-shapes fan. Next- the side of cinnamon apples was nothing more than apple pie filling. Thick, heavy sugared apples...for pie...not a sauce like consistency you'd expect alongside potato pancakes. Lastly- the entire menu- it was beyond basic, yet boringly so. I get it, it's Shari's, not some breakfast bistro, but in closing, if you're looking for a diner, that's cheap, fast, and even more modern, Denny's are really stepping up tier game. Pro- Service Con- Menu choices, food quality

I swear everyone working here is not happy. No smiles no sign of any personality at all from anyone. The New York steak was dry and itty bitty. Don't recommend this one at all.

Pies! We took a risk not knowing what the food would be like as we are not from here but we were pleased with the overall quality for the price and the service was excellent!

If there is a first impression to be made along the Shari's chain, please let it not be here. The likelihood of coming out disappointed is high. I wish I could say there were better nearby 24 hour options available, but in these parts, Shari's is often it. The service isn't particularly fantastic, the ladies who work here will crack a smile once in awhile, but they just seem a little lackluster in all aspects. Slow to water refills, slow to the register, and order snafus are far too common. If you're not aiming to wait too long for food, the best way for me has always been to order breakfast. But in doing so, the backfires still happen all the time. The quality is akin to something like a poor Denny's or something worse, with super greasy hashbrowns and poorly executed eggs (scrambled, over easy, etc.). I haven't fared too well with their pies either, something Shari's is supposed to do rather well. All in all, very mediocre to the core. If you're coming late night, be prepared to endure a shadier crowd. Most of them are just people passing through Salem, so think truck drivers and late night road warriors. They don't seem to ecstatic to eat here either, and frankly, neither am I.

The food is epic and the best part of it is Country Fried Steak were totally tasty and scramble egg was really really good! And pancake were also good of freshly homemade food! I love this place!

I've had my fair share of bad dinners and servers at Shari's, but my boyfriend and I went in the other night at a somewhat late hour, and our waitress was beaming. Her name is Trish, and she's the only reason I'm giving this Shari's 3 stars right now. She's friendly, funny, attentive, and personable! Food's usually pretty okay. But I decided to write a review just for her!

They were okay. The employees don't look happy here & they really don't care about you. Food was fantastic but employees & having to wait for a refill because our server never came back is terrible. Thank goodness the location by my house is great our I'd never come back.

Food in a nutshell is very terrible, service is good. That's about it, the only thing that would make me want to come back here for is their pies, but I can buy Marie Calender pies at the supermarket for 9 dollars, so why even do that?

A buddy and I decided to hit this Sharis for a midnight snack. Everything was very clean and tidy. Floors vacuumed, tables wiped, etc... We were greeted by a friendly waiter who made us a great chocolate shake, kept our coffee and waters full, served us piping hot food, and always had a joke or two to tell. He didn't mind us just hanging around chatting afterwards, and would come by occasionally just to chatter himself. Course, the place was deserted sans a couple of police officers. (Which I am ALWAYS glad to see when I am out and about in Salem!!) ;)

The spring spinach omelette is yummy, as are the accompanying pancakes. Friendly service and lots of appealing menu options, like the new Caprese burger on ciabatta bun... brilliant idea!
