Padington's serves good pizza. They use really great ingredients that make for a tasty and fresh pizza. Mark, a previous commenter, said they use canned mushrooms - however, if you ask, they'll use fresh mushrooms instead - my wife insists on the fresh kind. So, with great pizza, how's the environment inside Padington's? It's set up in a cowboy style which is fun for a pizza place. However, come 6:00 on most evenings, it can get *really* loud inside Padington's. So loud that you have to speak in a very loud voice in order to carry on a conversation with those at your table. So, if you're sensitive to noise or want a quiet meal out, Padington's isn't your place during the rush dinner hour, but it's great for large families or other groups. Also great if you have kids!

I adore this pizza. Not so much the restaurant. If only it was kid friendly. It always seems to cost about $50 for my family to eat there.

yummy pizza. always go when we visit. just wish it wasn't so spendy! and maybe add a play area for kids!

The pizza is probably some of the better pizza I've had around here. That being said, it is quite expensive for what you get.

When I enter the place, I always feel like I'm cattle, and being herded around and force fed. Basically, the atomosphere and staff always seem hurried and non-attentive. But the pizzas are very good. When I discuss Padingtons with people I know, either they love them or hate them...and no in between. Prices are WAY TOO HIGH...but sometimes its worth it. The wait can be LONG during peak times, as it can get pretty busy. Parking is HORRIBLE. Bad lot to park in with bad access to Commercial.

  • Jando S.

Out of all the of Salem pizza joints the Padington's chain is among the most famous but also among the most expensive. The pizza's thin crust style, loaded with toppings and plenty of flavor is easily some of the best Salem has to offer. This particular Padington's is ironically less busy than the other Pine St. location and has significantly more parking. The service is your usual high school students who take orders and bake pizzas, who just want to end their shift. If one is a devoted Padington's patron, this is the place. If not, go for the other less expensive chains that feature the same style of pizza.

I'm not a fan. The pizza was alright but the mushrooms were the canned kind and the whole thing tasted nuked not baked. The crust is paper thin which is fine, and the toppings were just piled on which was alright. It just had so much that nothing got super hot. And they put a ridiculous amount of tomatoes on top which may have been why it was not that hot. Either way, Meh.

We passed through here headed to Seattle and were amazed at the $5 lunch pizzas. The crust is great, the sauce was tasty and I wish we had this place back home! I would choose this over a Big Mac anytime.

Interesting experience having a room temperatue pizza. Some toppings still cold in middle. Flavor good but not worth coming back. I've had too many hot pizzas to adjust to cold ones. Not worth coming back for more disappointment.

  • Samantha H.

We got individual two topping pizzas for $5 which was a good deal. I like good deals like that. I don't like thin crust pizzas that have really no flavor other than tomato sauce. Once I was done with the pizza I left all of the crust on my plate. Isn't that supposed to be the best part? I won't be back. Not my style of pizza.

I distinctly remember writing a review of this and the other Padingtons. Yelp, what are you up to? This place to be my favorite, so there's no way I would/could forget! Anyway. Since Donatello's opened, I haven't stepped food inside this place. I had slowed down over the years anyway because I got tired of paying $25 for one pizza that I had to wait forever for and that would be soggy on the bottom if I got mushrooms. No way can Padington's ever get my money back. Surly service, no specials or coupons, no salad bar, and soggy bottomed pizza keeps me faaaaarrrrrr away.

On the menu "Don't have what you're looking for? Customize it yourself!" .... awesome! Get up there to order... They do not allow you to ask for thicker crust, cannot fathom putting the sauce on top of the cheese because they use a brush to put it on despite a suggestion that they use a ladle or spoon, the workers are rather depressing, unenthusiastic and slow, Slow, SLOW. I understand that we should not abuse emotional labor and overtly energetic people are rather annoying, but there is a difference between quality service and apathetic melancholy. The ONLY redeeming factor that this place has is their pizza and their cute to-go boxes. It was pretty nice pizza. Not the best. Not so much worth the wait, which was quite long.

No cheesy gimmicks here (pun intended), just good 'ole fashioned pizza! I am NOT generally a pizza person. But anytime I visit the fam, I demand Paddingtons. Countless toppings compared to any chain competitor. Truly fresh ingredients. Thin crispy crust. Pitchers at a decent price. This family owned establishment is a Salem gem. My go-to is pepperoni, mushroom, jalapeno. I want it just thinking about it!

Best pizza in Salem and perhaps the best pizza I've ever had. Been going to the pine street location since I was a baby. Can't go wrong with any pizza they have. I prefer the whippersnapper. Want to save money get a luncheon pizza. Best lunch deal in town. Seen other reviews were people don't like that they use unique names for their pizzas. For those of you shut it! It taste better than other places so they can call it whatever they want. End of review it's the best pizza in Salem so go try it. Worth the extra money.

Delicious! Long wait usually, pretty spendy, but very good! Perfect for a nice sit down with a large group, or just a couple.

Paddingtons pizza south discriminates against the military. My son was fired when management learned he was attempting to join. I like their pizza as a second choice to round table. But will never eat there again because of their discrimination against the military. I think that all military current and former should stop eating there so the latest the owner cam get the message to support our troops not fire prospective ones.

Per the gal answering the phone, they do not offer any specials. Their pizza prices are a bit high but, their lunch special is a good deal. The service and food was good however, I prefer Walery's Pizza and pricing.

Number two on my favorite pizza places. Whenever I am in Salem I try to hit up one of my local favorites, unfortunately, sometimes I just can't squeeze it in. I tend to eat here, by the fireplace on cold days, rather than order to go. I have a seriously guilty pleasure: eating piping hot pizza while the cheese is still mouth scalding. It's weird, but oh well. Padington's has always been consistently delicious. The staff are friendly and the orders are usually brought out without much delay. This can change if you hit them up on a weekend night, but I usually go for weekday lunch times. How I wish there was good pizza in Eastern Oregon. . . .

I waited and waited not wanting to write a bad review but too many times too many problems. First of all I love this pizza. Can't find much like it in Portland. However, too many bad customer service issues and I don't think I will ever go there again. 1. Only 1 phone line, trying to place an order to go during lunch and it can take over an hour to get through. People give up and have to go wait in line to order to go and have to wait there. 2. I called about 1.5 month ago, they asked to put me on hold. I agreed and kept working. I checked periodically but then I forgot I was on hold (I put in on speaker). I was on hold for 42 MINUTES!!! I didn't want to lose my spot in line but I hung up. I called right back and guess what? BUSY SIGNAL!!!!! 3. I called today (Monday) and 11:50am and got through right away! I ordered 2 personal pizzas and was told "30 minutes". I was there at 12:30pm to pick up the pizzas but they were scheduled for 1:20pm, Someone got confused and added an extra hour to my wait time!!!!. I had to sit there and wait again. Again I love this pizza, but for now I will not be going back again. EVER. I didn't want to write this review, but I am pissed. When in person, the staff is quite nice. But can't handle the lack of customer service. Especially working in the service industry to 5 years.

The location on South Commercial is horrible. Looks like none of the pizzamakers really care about their job. 5 minutes to stand there and literally throw meat on it one tiny piece at a time the person needs to be fired. They could do with less employees if they had any type of work ethic. No manager in sight Rarely do they get our order right. If you want good pizza go to the location on Pine St.

  • Andy K.

Try the Bandito if you want to try something different. Paddington's is a classic pizza place with exceptional quality and service. Expect to wait up to 45 minutes at peak times. It is worth the wait.

Absolutely the best pizza in Salem hands down!! I am glad to be back in town because I have been all over the country and have never had pizza like this anywhere else!!

This place has the best pizza in Salem. Troy and his family have carried on the tradition of good food and good people. This is the only place I eat pizza.

Quality pizza, but be prepared to pay for it... The waits are long on the weekend evenings, so we usually call ahead.

    (3)
  • Jordan S.

Easily the best pizza in town! They provide great quality with a load of different options to choose from, plus it's a great place to gather with friends and family highly recommend this place!

  • Jill D.

By far the best pizza joint in Salem. Their pizza is awesome, plus heats up well. Consistently good.

    (5)

Over an hour wait for a carry out pizza is a bit ridiculous. No option on crust, only thin crust. Pizza was decent.

  • Merry R.

We are at paddingtons pizza right now, it's been 50 minutes since we ordered and we don't have much hope of having our food before another half hour passes. As far as we can tell they can only make then bake 1 pizza at a time. It's about every 10 or 15 minutes between the calling of order numbers. So wishing we had chosen a different place for dinner tonight.

  • Tim Z.

Food poisoning from the pizza. Not cool at all I will never eat here again. Maybe the reason is because a bunch of untrained high school kids are making the pies it should have been a red flag from the start.

Pizza is terrific! Service and friendliness lacking at times.

If you're into warm cardboard smothered in bland tomato sauce and covered with raw toppings, or if you're over 90 and can't taste anything, then this is your place!! We visited this Salem staple on a Friday night. The restaurant was only at 2/3 capacity and it took them 45 minutes to bring us our meal. When our ''pizza'' arrived, no plates or sliverware accompanied it. Never fear however, what the pie lacked in flavor it made up for in undercooked ingredients. Suffice it to say the entire experience left us feeling rather underwhelmed. On the upside, they were showing the original Tron on the flat screen which really helped to keep me distracted and drown out my complaints. The next time you feel like pizza, save yourself the trouble and go with the frozen variety

There was nothing wrong with this place, but we found the pizza to be unimpressive. We found it to be on par with dominoes or pizza hut. Also this place was way too pricey for the quality. I think we'll stick with homemade or Straight from New York.

  • Rob S.

Number one rule in pizza....DONT BURN THE DOUGH! You combine this with the lack luster atmosphere and it easily compliments the pizza. The only thing this pizza parlor has going for it...it closes early! Don't waste your time or money!

  • Andrew S.

Best pizza in town! The wait is worth it for a delicious thin crust flavor masterpiece.

    (5)
  • Daniel W.

The pizza is good but i think it is a bit high on the price. seems like comparison is about 8-7 bucks less. Although i do love the lunch special.

What is the deal with throwing 2 cans of mushrooms on the pizza? Seriously, canned mushrooms aren't outlawed yet?

    (1)
  • Breanne W.

I love this pizza SO much! I prefer it over any I've had anywhere in the world. I can't wait to visit Salem just to have it. The sauce is out of this world. I'm not sure how they get the flavor. They pile on the toppings and the crust is amazing!! Whippersnapper and Quickdraw are my go-tos.I don't like mushrooms, so I can't speak for those (some bad reviews on the mushrooms). This is a family joint that has been around for years (the Pine location). Service is always great and friendly. Yes, the dolls are creepy! But it's part of the Padington's charm. Embrace it.

Will add stars when they knock the prices down to a reasonable level.

Some of the best New York Style thin crust pizza I've ever had. Great old western type of atmosphere, fire place and big screen tv. Best pizza in Oregon hands down!!

Love the humdinger lunch size pizza. It's price is a good value and it's great tasting pizza. This time it was over cooked but it was still good. Get there early because of the lunch crowd.

Quite simply the best pizza I've ever had. My friend was bragging them up and I thought "It's probably not THAT good" but boy was I wrong. They have a super-thin crust, which I prefer, and all the toppings are excellent. The pepperoni actually has some taste to it (and isn't greasy). I recommend the Bandito also. Even their takeout boxes are kinda neat. I also like the fact that the kitchen area is totally open and you can see everything the staff is doing. I worked at a pizza place when I was a teenager and if you can't see the kitchen...well let's not talk about what goes on back there sometimes. One odd thing is their pizza doesn't reheat very well. I mean, it's not bad the next day but it's definitely not as good as when you first get it home and pop that cute takeout box open. They are pretty spendy, but I've eaten so much mediocre pizza in my life (I am a gamer after all) that at this point I'm willing to pay a little more to get the good stuff. By the way, the parking is fine. I mean, if it's crowded you might have to park on the side lot and walk (gasp!) 100 feet or so. Brutal, I know.

I love Padington's. They have one of the few thin crusts that I like. Normally, they are super crisp like a cracker or chip so they fall apart after you take your first bite, but Padington's thin crust actually stays together. When we go, we normally get half Gold Digger with olives (basically a Hawaiian) and half Whippersnapper (Canadian Bacon, pepperoni, and beef). The Bandito is also really good; other places would call it a Taco Pizza. I'm not a big fan of Vegetarian pizzas, but theirs is one that I would actually eat. I have never eaten one of their salads, but my mom and sister seem to enjoy them quite a bit. Make sure to read all the names of the pizzas on the menu as some of them are quite interesting. It's a great place to have big family get-togethers, because there is a whole section off to each of the sides that work great to have everyone sitting together.

There is no better pizza in Salem! If you are about to be abducted by aliens or leaving the US for an extended period of time, you might want to make your last slice a Padington's slice. Their pizza dances through my dreams at night. Plus the service is always friendly and their smiles make me smile!

Good thin crust and cheese -- but uncooked veggies and canned mushrooms. Mediocre pizza at best.

Love it! We keep going back again and again. By the way. Yelp says closed Sundays. Not true.

Expensive, bland pizza. Took 45 minutes from order to table. Creepy dolls in glass cases staring at you while you eat.

  • Troy P.

The Best Pizza anywhere! The crust is perfect and the toppings are always plenty. I wish I had a Padington's where I live. Loved this place. I also loved the ole pizza parlor feel very old fashion and family friendly.

    (5)
  • Tim T.

By far my favorite pizza in the Salem area. I love the thin, crispy crust. I've tried most of there different toppings, and have yet to have a bad pizza. Also, there's kind of a secret ingredient that makes probably every pizza better. Bacon. Actual bacon bits! Pepperoni and bacon bits is the way to go!

    (5)
  • Heidi W.

Excellent pizza! Not very family friendly though. Lots of kids running around with nothing to entertain them.

    (4)
  • Mark B.

I love Paddington's pizza and I don't know why! They use an extremely thin cracker-like crust, which I usually don't like. They use canned mushrooms, which I usually don't like. If I had one of their pizzas sitting in front of me, I could probably name a few other things that I usually don't like. But, for some reason, when I'm eating their pizza, it's almost like crack. When all of those ingredients are a complete package, I can't eat it fast enough. I don't get it. Even if you like your pizza thick, you might want to still give them a try to see if you have the same reaction I do. My favorite pizza at Paddington's is The Humdinger, which is one of their combo pizzas.
